It's the Trinity. To take an analogy from St. Patrick, the Trinity is like a clover. You have three leaves- The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, but you only have one clover. St. Patrick was preaching in Ireland, and the Irish love their clovers, so, good analogy!

St Patrick is notorious for his bad analogies.

And a fun fact... Of all the patron saints of the main nations of the British Isles - Patrick, David, Andrew, and George - St David of Wales is the only saint who was actually from the nation of which he's patron. Patrick was originally from what's now the north of England (though we can't really call him English; he was more accurately Romano-British), and then captured and taken to Ireland by Irish slave raiders when he was a teenager. He escaped after six years of enslavement, returned to his family in 'England' (more accurately sub-Roman Britain), and then went back to Ireland as a missionary.

England's patron saint was originally the very English St Edmund; he only seems to have been supplanted by the Palestinian St George around the 14th century.

Tbh, the clover analogy was only meant to be used for the Irish, who had never even HEARD of monotheism before.

Anywho, all Trinity analogies are completely heretical and should only be used on children, recent converts, people whom you are trying to convince to join Christianity, and those outside of a Christian predominant nation.

Yes. I've seen that video. I didn't know how it applied to us Orthodox, though. I've heard the clover analogy from an Orthodox teacher when I was younger, so thought it did apply to us. That channel is also where I learnt about Patrick's origin story. The rest is quite interesting. I did not know any of that.

No simile/metaphor is perfect—if it is right in one way, it is wrong in another. When David says God is his rock, that is correct in the scope of what the analogy is supposed to convey; however, there are many ways that God is not like a rock. It is appropriate to relate different ways that things may be three and one (preferably in different ways, to show the shortcomings of each) rather than solely relying on a theologically airtight, but in practice, potentially unhelpful explanation.

Anyway, refer to the diagram

Yesterday I learnt that there are three churches in North Korea- one Catholic, one Protestant and one Orthodox. All in Pyongyang. The Orthodox church is there because Kim Jong-il liked the architecture, North Korea has Russian diplomats, and they allow a few locals to go there to give the illusion of freedom of religion, but who knows what the Catholic and Protestant Churches are there for. There's also a mosque, and whilst it's technically in North Korea, it's on the grounds of the Iranian embassy, so probably doesn't count...

Second verse, same as the first.

Mass for the Canonization of the 103 Martyrs of Korea, Pope St. John Paul II, May 6th, 1984 wrote:The splendid flowering of the Church in Korea today is indeed the fruit of the heroic witness of the Martyrs. Even today, their undying spirit sustains the Christians in the Church of silence in the North of this tragically divided land. (Emphasis mine.)

That the See of Rome sees the Church in North Korea as the "Church of Silence" speaks volumes as to the state of the Church in the DPRK.

It is finished.
“Never believe that [fascists] are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The [fascists] have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”

Happy Easter everybody! Today we celebrate the day on which Jesus came back from the dead. Let us rejoice. I myself am not a Christian, despite believing in God, Jesus, heaven, and hell, but I’d consider myself to be a cultural Christian or a Christian adjacent. I hope that you have all have a good day.

FUCK ISRAEL! I support peace, therefore I stand with Palestine. I want a bi-national solution, a state in which Jews and Palestinians can coexist peacefully. The onus is on Israel to stop this - it can do it anytime by bringing a ceasefire and ending apartheid.

Christ is risen, praise be all. For all who doubt, like Thomas, have faith in the Lord and rejoice. On a related note, I am glad Pope Francis had the strength to show up for Easter Mass.

That depends, old or new testament. Cause if you start spouting certain stuff from the old testament, we might have a problem.
