Imperial Statement on the Treaty of Tahiti

Over the course of the last several months, through several expressions of goodwill and cooperation across many different disciplines, the New Pacific Order and Carcassonne have found themselves developing a steady friendship, and sense of camaraderie. Today, the powers that be come together to ratify the Treaty of Tahiti, an emblem of the relationship that has been fostered so far and a promise of what the future is to hold. The New Pacific Order has appreciated the manner with which Carcassonne has treated the Order with both dignity and respect, regardless of any sort of ideological differences, and we hope that such differences can only serve to further bring us together, in mutual cooperation towards common shared goals. Enclosed in the following spoiler is the treaty text:

The Treaty of Tahiti

Article I: Mutual Recognition
1. Carcassonne recognizes the New Pacific Order (‘The NPO’), as represented by the Empress, their appointed successors and the Senate, as the sole and legitimate government of The Pacific, its onsite territories, and associated offsite holdings.
2. The New Pacific Order recognizes Carcassonne’s Crowned Republic, as represented by the Empress, their designated successors, its Minister-President, and its Ecclesia according to its constitution as the sole and legitimate government of Carcassonne, its onsite territories, and associated offsite holdings.

Article II: Mutual Defense
1. Carcassonne and The NPO agree to respect the sovereignty of their fellow signatory, affirming to never take up arms in opposition of the other, including through means of subversion or espionage. This extends to owned territories of either signatory.
2. The signatories shall share intelligence concerning the continued sovereignty of the other signatory or any threats to it. If not a matter of regional security, the signatories shall share information when prudent.
3. If a signatory is attacked by hostile forces, mutual defense shall be provided by the other party at the defending party's request.
4. Upon request, the signatories shall provide support to one another during delegate transitions, assuming it is convenient for both parties.
5. If a signatory's treaty ally engages in hostilities with the other signatory, opting for neutrality is permitted. If a third party attempts to overthrow either signatory, defense of the other signatory must take precedence and prior neutrality declarations must be re-examined.

Article III: Military Cooperation
1. The signatories shall strive to conduct joint military operations that respect the existing policies of both regional militaries. The signatories are permitted to decline participation for any reason. Any such operations will be fully detailed to the relevant command of the other signatory to ensure this obligation is met. If the operation is declined, the details may not be shared with external sources.

Article IV: World Assembly Collaboration
1. Both signatories endeavor to support the other in World Assembly resolutions at the other’s request. In the case of conflicts arising from other treaty obligations, the parties are permitted to abstain if deemed necessary.

Article V: Addenda
1. This treaty shall be considered null and void upon its repeal by either signatory.
2. This treaty may be amended with the mutual consent of both signatories.
