In a pithy statement, the Representative of Lymanya withdrew his bid for the office, acknowledging the validity of the ballot count. This came in the form of a document posted on social media from his official account and reposted on his campaign socials, with no live appearance made since. In response to requests for an interview, Representative Egorov has declined.
Meanwhile, Chairman-elect Pelsh held a speaking event early this morning to celebrate the win.
“Czaslyudiya will no longer be a victim. We will not bow any longer to the old guard and securocrats. We will not bow any longer to the squeezing and unequal deals thrust on us by our ungrateful neighbors. We will not accept poverty. We will not accept malaise. We will accept nothing less than what a strong Czaslyudiya deserves!” Pelsh said in a public statement. During his campaign, he has continually drawn attention to the economic malaise suffered by the country since the start of the decade, as well as the lack of what he perceives as inadequate response to the war in Varathron.
However, the Reliance (Dovira) party, which has yet to gain any seats or draw among representatives of the National Assembly, puts itself in a difficult place with only distant allies in the National Assembly through the All-People’s Union for Liberty and Equality (VSSR). Founded last summer by Pelsh himself, the party’s platform states its interests as “anticorruption, anticriminal, and antirecession.” Overall, its platform sits along fairly centrist lines, which no doubt came in great help during the election. “Czaslyudiya is deeply divided; a candidate, moderate, that does not seem to be countered by existing parties or institutions seems to voters like a safe bet,” writes Chornaya Star journalist Akira Welch.
In the days to come, the vote must be certified by the National Assembly, declaring it to be legitimate, before Pelsh and his team can transition into government.
