Saterun A. Liga: Season 11 Preview

Image

Now that Ias has reached the pinnacle, their title defense will be the most interesting thing to watch this season. Below them, hungry teams are prowling, waiting to take advantage of any slipup. Tsear FC made headlines by sacking manager Efik Crauss a month before the start of the new season, with interim manager Timothy Shannon, a Tsear legend himself, only getting a little bit of time to adjust to his new squad. Tsear have given Shannon only a one season contract, but if he manages to restore The Club to the top, he could be here for a while. The team that looked the most improved coming out of the transfer window were surely Xaiv, who added star power in Shepherd and Carrieri. Bianchi has a good, generally young team who will likely make a title challenge this season and don't look far away from winning it over the next few. Mieteng City and Real Anasb also both look like challengers, although selling Caesar Ibañez did make Real a little weaker. Luckily, they brought in Crpostrani talent Celso Seppo, who will likely make a big impact this season. Now that Ias has fully disrupted the existing order, anything could happen this season.

Team Title Odds

Timothy Shannon seems to know what he's doing as Tsear sit atop the mountain halfway through the season, but their position is far from secure. The main storyline so far is Qeuthun and Ajac sitting in Challengers Cup spots. On the other end of the spectrum, Xaiv and Anasb FK are significantly struggling, both hovering around the mid-table mark. It's true that the A Liga has become more competitive recently, and when you look at the teams above them it is easy to see why they are this far down, but both fanbases expect something more. The Xaiv board have been patient with Bianchi for the past couple of seasons, but if he can't lift Xaiv this season it may be the end of the road for him. Tammen Rangers continue to perform, as they sit just under mid-table. Although it may already be too late for Wonghia, most of the table is pretty tight, and so anything could happen during the rest of the season.

Although it is still mathematically possible for Qeuthun to catch Tsear FC, it will be almost impossible. With five matchdays to go, Tsear have a mammoth lead of 8 points, which is a much larger margin than the A Liga is used to. Qeuthun and Ajac have stayed rooted in their positions, but somehow Leonardo Bianchi has thrusted Xaiv into Challengers Cup places. The two teams from the capital have clearly struggled, with it looking unlikely that either will have international football next season. Tammen finally stumbled, although they are still doing alright. Some parts of the table are starting to sift out into what we expected before the season, but the top half especially still remains very shaken up.

Shannon has managed to see out an incredibly difficult end of the season to crown Tsear champions for the first time in three seasons, giving Saterun's biggest club their 5th league crown. It was all settled on matchday 33, as Tsear's win kept them 6 points ahead of Qeuthun and out of reach. Although they can longer win the title, Qeuthun has still had a season to remember, as they have secured Challengers' Cup football for only the second time in their history. Although the table is pretty close all the way down, not that much of significance can be shaken up going into the final matchday, except that Ajac still has a chance at making IFCF next season. They are fifth place on virtue of goal difference, so all they need is for Futsworth to drop any points and they should be through.

Very little changed on the final matchday, except that Ias's nightmare title defense got even worse. Timothy Shannon has proved that he has what it takes to win in the A Liga, as he guided Tsear to the title in his debut season. Not many managers can say that. Qeuthun managed to continue a strong start to finish an incredible second place, while Bianchi finally got Xaiv back into IFCF places due to a late season surge. Futsworth rounds out the top four in what was a very average season for them. Efik Crauss has proved that he can bounce back from failure, as the ex-Tsear boss lifted KS Ajac to a historic 5th place finish, missing out on IFCF places only due to a last-minute Hans-Jürgen Becker free-kick. The middle of the table is about where the differences between the top teams and the rest can be seen, because although Mieteng recorded a record-worst 9th place they were still 10 points ahead of 10th place Haleer. Tammen had the largest fall-off, as they imploded late in the season to only finish 15th. In the 19 games of the second half of the season, they only managed a dismal 17 additional points. The A Liga is getting increasingly competitive, and now that Tsear have re-asserted dominance, who knows who will be the next big team to challenge them.

If anyone wants to know how their players did in the A Liga this season, just shoot me a TG with the requested info/stats.

Saterun A. Liga: Season 12 Preview

Image

Timothy Shannon might just be the chosen one. After an illustrious playing career, he returned to his old club Tsear FC in a caretaking role and won the league. Despite being only 39, just a few years older than some of his own players, he's now signed into a full-time role with The Club. By far the biggest transfer story during the window was Anasb FK's NSD 5 million capture of Edsmontik striker Maartin Stuero. FK made good use of their excess funds from the selling of Benjamin Lefevre a few years ago to really strengthen the squad, and look to be a genuine contender this time around. With Valenci, Shepherd, and Stuero all now competing at their peak performance, it'll be a Golden Boot race to remember this season. Money was also thrown around by some of the smaller clubs, such as Tsear AC's signing of Rahul Kumar of Indusse. On paper, Mieteng boasts the best attack, while Futsworth United should have a lock-down defense. Now that it seems that Tsear FC have restored the old order, clubs below them will once again look to shift it. The 12th season of the A Liga may just be the most exciting yet.

Futsworth came out the gate roaring, and the rest of league got to see what Kameron Boyd has quietly been building for the past couple of seasons. A 5-0 demolishing of Mieteng City at home on matchday 15 may have been the icing on the cake, as Boyd's side showed both their attacking prowess and defensive solidity. Boyd's men lead the scoring charts by a mile, notching up an incredible 34 goals for in their first 15 games, a league record. Xaiv are still chasing however, with Shepherd churning out 10 of his side's 20 goals so far. At the other end of the table, Ias fall deeper into despair, as their title a couple of seasons ago now seems like a fairytale. Oceanico remain the only team not to have cracked double digits yet in goals scored, while Xaiv hold the best defensive record in the league, having only conceded 8. Although Futsworth are starting to pull away, they're still catchable.

Futsworth have stumbled, and Xaiv have seized the moment. A win for the Makos on matchday 29 sends them top, as Futsworth narrowly lose to KS Ajac. It's still very close, of course, and with 5 games to go 6 teams can still mathematically win the title. It'll be a battle to the very last day, for sure. Futsworth's offense hasn't slowed down, as they continue to try for a league record number of goals in a season. Mieteng and Ias have pulled themselves up, while Tsear AC maintain an unlikely top 6 finish. New signing Rahul Kumar has done wonders for the Jaguar's defense, which is one of the best in the league. With many more top-table matchups still to come, there's a lot to look forward to in the coming games. It's still anyone's title to win.

It's been a wild final few matchdays. Xaiv lost four games in a row to drop them down to fourth place, although, due to results elsewhere, they still have a chance of winning it. Futsworth sits ahead of the pack by 2 points, a game away from a third A Liga crown. Behind them, Anasb FK have had a late surge to position themselves in second, while Tsear FC sit in third. The fight for IFCF football continues below them, as both Tsear AC and Mieteng City have a chance of making it next season. Ias and Qeuthun are both pretty much locked into their positions, while Ajac is set to record a much worse performance than last season. It's still all to play for heading into the final matchday, and if there's anyone who knows how to bottle a title, it's Futsworth.

Alas, Futsworth managed to hold on. Toomas Napi and Hans-Jürgen Becker put in a solid performance to edge past Oceanico, and even a heroic Xaiv win couldn't stop them. The Makos come second once again, as they still search for their elusive first title. After a relatively quiet window before this season, expect a busy summer as Bianchi looks to come back serious next season. Mieteng managed to push themselves up, but were unable to break the goal difference deadlock. Kirk City Athletic were the largest overperformers, as the Owls managed a very respectable 14th. Albery had a dismal season, finishing with less than 20 points. Foron Dosouni will likely be headed for the exit sooner rather than later. Overall, it was a season of heavy attacking play, as four different sides managed to score over fifty. Futsworth, Xaiv, and Anasb FK shared the best defensive title, as they all conceded only 26 each. A combination of a scintillating attack and solid defense was what ultimately led to Futsworth's victory, giving the club and Kameron Boyd their third A Liga title. As the teams set their sights on the season ahead, all will be wondering how the top six will be shaken up next.

If anyone wants to know how their players did in the A Liga this season, just shoot me a TG with the requested info/stats.

Saterun A. Liga: Season 13 Preview

Image

When the 12th season of the A Liga closed out with its 4th different champion in 4 seasons, it solidified a growing trend of competitiveness emerging in the league. It's certainly something to be excited about, and might open the pathway to yet another new champion this season. With an additional Champions League spot to contend for, the stakes at the top just keep getting higher. The headline transfer of the off-season was actually an internal one, as Xaiv splurged NSD 3 million for Trey Dillon of Ias CF. Several other players also made high-profile moves, as Jack Le Mounde and Benjamin Insfrán both also traded up the A Liga pecking order. With the top teams embattled in a permanent arms race, the cohort challenging for the title has just gotten stronger. Hopefully, these teams will also put on a better performance internationally, after a disappointing one IFCF win last season. Well...this is unexpected. The top two make sense, at least, but from there it just spirals. Somehow, Daxler and Haleer find themselves in IFCF places, and not far behind the league leaders. The Anasb teams struggle, languishing in 9th and 10th, with Ias just below them. Wonghia is outperforming expectations, and Coppola rounds out the bottom of the league with a measly 5 points. Xaiv have had the best defense, with new signing Trey Dillon really making an impact, while surprise package Haleer Phoenix lead the league in goals scored. At the heart of that is Artur Ferguson, a former high-profile prospect who never really peaked. However, he may just be a late bloomer, as he's already smashed his personal A Liga best with 8 goals scored so far. However, a familiar candidate leads the overall scoring charts. Charles Shepherd's 12 goals so far put him top of the pack, with Maartin Stuero just behind at 10. Although the table looks funky now, there's still plenty of time for it to shake up even more, and Xaiv have been in this position before. Now, they need to see out the second half of the season.

Tsear has, once again, managed to overtake Xaiv in the second half of the season, although it is still very close at the top. Although Daxler predictably fell away, Haleer has, amazingly, been able to maintain the charge, and sit in a record-breaking 3rd. Of course, with 5 matchdays to go, there's still plenty of time to fall, but they've made it this far. Tsear AC are also unpredictably high, currently equaling their best ever finish in season 10. Quethun, Anasb FK, and Ajac struggle, and FC Coppola still sits in last. It's been a high-scoring season all around, and Charles Shepherd still leads to charts, having registered 25 goals so far. However, just behind him are Artur Ferguson (22) and Sincere Cabbagestalk (also 22). Tsear FC have clearly had the best defense, as Kristofer Bohler really starts to reach his potential. Although The Club have a slight buffer at the top, five games is still plenty of time for some last-minute drama.

Timothy Shannon certainly knows how to maintain a title charge. The slip-up against Futsworth United on matchday 32 might have been a little scary, but they sealed the crown on matchday 33 with an incredible 5-0 thrashing of rivals Mieteng City. Haleer managed to push their advantage even further, hopping over Xaiv, and have secured Champions League football for the first time in the clubs history. Its a little tighter down the table, as Mieteng still have a shot at the Challengers Cup, but there isn't much that can be changed now. Anasb FK will just be hoping that an incredible disappointment of a season will soon end, and they might see a few key players leaving if the board doesn't make some changes.

Tsear managed to capture their second title in three years, extending their list of accolades and cementing their place as the most decorated Saterun club in history. Their offense was lethal, and their defense was incredible. 21 goals conceded is one of the lowest totals ever recorded, and its all thanks to a defending group that finally coalesced this season. Haleer managed to round out their season with a well-deserved draw against Tsear AC, and the scenes at the Haleer Community Stadium after the final whistle were magical. Xaiv, Futsworth, and Mieteng all finished respectably in Challengers Cup places, while it was a season to forget for the Anasb sides. A miserable loss away at Coppola, the then-16th placed team, summed up FK's whole season. Stuero put up a good individual performance, but might be looking for a transfer away this window. Daxler, who started off hot, eventually fell off, but 8th place is still very good from their standpoint. With Tsear clinching their 6th league title, it looks as if the old order has returned. However, that gives an opportunistic side the opportunity to shake it up again.

If anyone wants to know how their players did in the A Liga this season, just shoot me a TG with the requested info/stats.

Saterun A. Liga: Season 14 Preview

Image

Tsear have firmly cemented their place as the dominant side in Saterun, and a pretty respectable run into the Challenger's Cup Quarterfinals saw them expand their brand abroad. However, the rest of the A Liga hasn't been as bright. Someone needs to knock Tsear off their throne, and quick. Mieteng and Xaiv both made significant moves in the transfer window, and look primed to give Tsear a proper title challenge. Meanwhile, the Anasb clubs still seem limpid, and could fall even further this season. Expect Terrick Rodwallis, KS Ajac's new NSD 3 million striker, to have a breakout season, and we could see the development of quite a few youth prospects. The A Liga continues to slowly climb up the league ranks, and hopefully this season will see better international performances from more of the clubs. However, there's still only one primary goal. With challengers waiting behind them, Tsear look to complete back-to-back titles for only the second time in A Liga history, after their own triumphs in the 7/8 seasons. Expect one hell of a battle.

Mieteng have come out firing on all cylinders, and have gone undefeated in the first half of the season. They lead the league in both defensive and offensive performance, and sit with a pretty comfortable margin at the top. Behind them, Xaiv 1919 and Tsear are still chasing, but have ground to make up. Albery is the shock of the season, sitting in an IFCF place and looking very solid this time around. Qeuthun and Ajac sit far lower than expected, and need to make a second-half push if they are to recover anything from this season. Adrian Schlimme and Charles Sheppard currently lead the scoring charts, tied at 12 each, while Vidar Washington has been pulling the strings in midfield to top the assist chart at 9. Jérémie Macdonald, a new Eastfield Lodge signing from Macronia Academy, has been the standout youngster. There's still so much left to play for, and we've seen bigger leads than this thrown away. Will Mieteng be able to hold on through the historically challenging second half of the season? Or will the table look much closer come the final matchdays?
