Hazmar Roger puts CS Saint-Rémy almost into the last 16! An intense matchup between these Championship sides is put to bed by some route one stuff as the Quatre-lettres captain finds one last burst of energy after 117 minutes of football to get onto the end of a goal kick from Li Lindholm and smash the ball into the net. Coquitlam switched off and paid for it.
Ryan Dumont speaks after Red Stars fall
They might be bottom of the league but losing to the National division’s Sunrise Coast is still something that shouldn’t happen, said the Red Stars manager. “We’ve maybe gotten into some bad habits where we’ve lost the resilience and mentality that helped us get into the Championship. It’s tough games every week but we can’t get into this fatalistic approach or we really won’t be winning against anyone, and that’s what I saw today. It’s really something we’ve got to get right because it doesn’t matter the level of opposition if we go out and play like that.”
Gautier’s strike puts Outineau out
Full time at Stade Olympique
Frustrating night under the dome as Tobert Usher’s return makes seemingly no difference in Outineau’s strange mid-season slump. Jeanne Gautier’s shot is fluffed by goalkeeper Max Carrieri and that’s what puts CFO out of the Cup and Strathcona into the last 16.
GOAL! Burnaby goes four up
Alexis Garrison has a second goal and that puts the icing on the cake for Burnaby. It was never in doubt for them as an overawed Racing Mistwygn team is visibly deflated, having to count holding the country’s most successful club to a 0-0 draw after 45 minutes as their prize. And at this rate you wouldn’t bet against them getting a fifth.

IFCF LATEST
Burnaby manager Ryan Potter after a shocking 5-0 loss away from home against Al-Tamazgha club Taqwaa. “No, I can’t explain it. Whatever I say after this, it can only be excuses. We just weren’t any good at all and it’s up to the players to show me that was an anomaly.”
With Kirkenes well off the pace in fourth and embarrassingly knocked out of the Patriotes Cup, a good run in the Challengers Cup is the last chance that Margerie Pax has (if any) to hang on to her job. It doesn’t seem like she’s lost the room just yet, however, as they responded to going two down with a devastating effort to score six unanswered goals in the second half.

Latest: Burnaby vs. Outineau
All the latest updates from Stadium Konueira. Océanic’s loss on Saturday gives Burnaby a chance to move top of the league if they win today, or Outineau can put themselves back into contention and draw one point behind the leaders...
Key events: on / off
44 mins: Xek Sunsaber gives Burnaby the lead just before half-time! Nipping into space to tuck away a cross driven across the six-yard box from a sharp angle.
61 mins: Jason Yuanjunsson Ren levels the score for Outineau! Not the first time Burnaby lost track of the Outineau full-backs, and this time they paid as Ren sneaks through the channel to get on the end of a through ball from Laurie Rajic. It’s all square and we’re headed for a grandstand finish
79 mins: Burnaby are back in front! Minerva Emond intercepts a mishit pass from Lourence Hupe, who got maybe too excited about a possible counter-attack. Instead it came right back into the Outineau box and Timothy Sapping heads it in.
84 mins: It’s definitely over now! Agapeto Licea was left free to loiter outside the box and unleashes a 25-yard strike that finds the back of the net.
FT: Burnaby goes top of the league!
A huge result in the title race as Burnaby SC rose to the challenge and seized the top spot against a difficult opponent. An enthused Ryan Potter praised his squad: “I couldn’t ask for more. It was an excellent performance, it’s one of those where you see that we’re a team that’s hungry and when we get the focus right on the field, everything follows from there.”
Outineau manager Romain Dupuis says it’s not over yet: “It will be very difficult, but I never say it is over. Last year we were in a similar situation, too. And we came out as the champions. It’s about how we respond to this.”

“Hat trick for Lacina Issoumou, and in a dire situation for Kirkenes. It was a 10 out of 10 performance to salvage what was looking like a major embarrassment for them. When Yob Yeyeh Aan is back from injury, any day now, who starts us front? Do you move Issoumou into a different position to accomodate him?”
“Well I think it is a big dilemma. Clearly, the team as a whole is not performing – a match like this kind of shows you how some players are dragging Kirkenes forward despite all that. Lacina Issoumou is one of those players who’s really stepped up and showed she’s a world class striker. So if Aan is back at 100 percent, do you take her out to put him back? Maybe Issoumou is actually better than Aan?”
“It’s the transfer fee, innit.”
“If Aan isn’t the bigger name with the bigger reputation and, I have to say, track record, I think we’re not even having this discussion.”

McDonagh rues missed chances as Strathcona bows out of Patriotes Cup
“Really mixed feelings. Firstly because we’ve have a very good week in terms of the levels of performance by the players, and when we play to our potential that’s all a coach can ask for. The sad part is it’s the second match in a row we’ve had the chance to take down a top team, and we let ourselves down at the key moments. “...and Novonaya have stolen a point here! Just as we go into stoppage time, Alain Germain levels the score... a great dribble from Ludovicius Dagnesses to set up the move and they could look back to that as the goal that saves them from relegation... Torbay are back where they started – in the bottom three!!”
Ren Fang looked certain to be sacked after last weekend’s draw against Red Stars, so this win against a team in the top half of the table does a lot to relieve the pressure. That was helped by Torbay and Novonaya fighting to a draw in their own relegation six-pointer, which means Mazinaw move up to 16th. Albeit very precariously, with only one point between them, Torbay, and Novonaya.

No one is speculating about Ren Fang’s job security now as they extended their unbeaten run to five with a classy victory against Kirkenes – no smash and grab this, they went toe to toe with the visitors and showed what a little bit of confidence can do for a team. “...that could put Sunsaber through here... Bleke Durocher slides in! Excellent tackle and it breaks for Aurora Merelu! Kirkenes are three-on-one the other way! Merelu plays in... and Licea crunches into Lacina Issoumou from behind!”
“Shocking tackle... if you can call it that... Only thing on his mind was to take Issoumou down.”
“It’s a straight red card, no hesitation from the referee! Agapeto Licea is sent off!... But that’s not the end of the story and Licea’s been sent flying by a Kirkenes player... and that draws a crowd!”
“Colm Lumsden sprinted 40 yards and bodychecked Licea. Pushing and shoving here. I’d be mad too but they’ve got to keep their heads.”

Yvonne Lawson strikes her penalty against the post and just like that, CS Saint-Rémy have completely messed this up. Comfortably leading 2-0 at half time, they let their second division opponents back into it and now it’s Kingstown who claim a sensational victory, setting up an intra-Konueira clash at Stade Outineau next month.
Cassie Mrythe, former Kelssek international
“Results matter, so while the process was not a fun experience for their fans but this has to be considered a good week for Burnaby – grinding out an away win against a scrappy St-Richard team, and getting through to the Cup final even if it took extra time.”

On this week’s PODCAST FC...
- Océanic had a chance to move top today but it’s huge miss for Aurora Nilsen, and Océanic, getting free in the box from a corner but then screwing a header wide from point blank range! Assistant manager Kiera Weiram is animatedly explaining to the bench how she’d have scored that one, easily. And that was the last action of the game as Passerine holds them to a draw!
- A milestone secured today too, as Hamiltonian Cambria clinches a spot in Challengers Cup with an upset win over Kirkenes! This will be the first time they’re in the IFCF tournaments, and it’s not over yet – this puts them two points behind their downtown rivals for... dare we say it... a place in the Champions League.
- After eight straight losses and the club falling into the bottom three, Anith Kehrt has been sacked as Wynleth manager as the club decide they need to roll the dice if they’re going to save their season and stay in the top flight.
- Mazinaw are finishing strong and with this dominant 2-0 win, relegation is confirmed for their opponents Saintsport Heath, who continue their perfect yo-yo record of being promoted and relegated between the Championship and National every season for the last ten years.

Reed’s winner has Outineau dreaming double time
Tallin Reed linked up with Sebastian Ellex-Mar in the 56th minute to put Outineau ahead, and a mega midfield performance by Ronin Otero ensured the Rouge-et-bleu take a 2-1 score into the return leg in Stein-los. Outineau can dare to dream, not like the fans are ever going to set their sights below winning everything ever. So here’s the scenario they’re hoping will play out over the three weeks, and which is entirely in their hands: with results in all their next four matches they will win both the Kelssek Championship and Champions League, two years in a row.

They don’t make showdowns like this anymore. First meets second in Langlois with the championship on the line. The winner of the Océanic vs. Outineau match takes the trophy. A draw there, however, and things get interesting. Burnaby travel to Vickery to face Strathcona Internationals, and if they win there, they could pull off a big heist if the match at Stade des Pacifiques ends in a draw. Anything less however, and Outineau would take the title on goal difference.
1 Outineau 37 27 5 5 88 35 +53 86Kirkenes has practically clinched the fourth Champions League spot. Latrobe and – in the underdog story of this year – Hamiltonian, have got spots in the Challengers Cup group stage guaranteed too. Attention turns to the third and final place, which is in Shearwater’s hands.

7 Shearwater 37 17 8 12 72 52 +20 59The two Redswyth-area clubs are already relegated and the final spot will be decided, in all likelihood, between Torbay and Wynleth. Though with a lot of stars aligning, Passerine could theoretically get sucked in. Wynleth is away in Latrobe, while Torbay play away to Shearwater. These are both tough fixtures and Shearwater have IFCF qualification on their minds and won’t give anything away.

2 min: We’re off to a fast start as Burnaby takes the lead in Vickery! A crowd formed as Titan Pogbacar dribbled down the middle and the midfielder squeezed out a pass to an unmarked Rory Joseph, who puts a curling volley beyond the reach of Ellen Underwood. Burnaby top of the table 90 seconds into the final day!
5 min: OCE 1-0 CFO - Océanic takes the lead through Aurora Nilsen! A big mistake by Max Carrieri who came to collect a cross and collided with his own player, giving the striker a gift and putting Océanic on top of the table.
24 min: OCE 2-0 CFO – The crowd at Stade des Pacifiques is euphoric! They’ve been well in control of this match and they can sense the trophy coming to Langlois! A well-worked move as Sabazio Ragone plays it through the channel for Chevalier Bay to put away!
31 min: KIR 3-0 RST – Brain-dead moment in defence and Liljan Álfarsdottír Zhou helps herself to an open goal. Yeah, I don’t think Red Stars is gonna be doing a whole lot today.
33 min: STR 0-2 BUR – They’d need a big turnaround (but not too big) in the Océanic-Outineau match for this to matter but Burnaby are 2-0 up against Strathcona as Titan Pogbacar tucks away a penalty. Xek Sunsaber is getting patched up and Heldon White is lucky to have only gotten a yellow for that silly lunge.
41 min: SHE 2-0 TOR – Bad to worse for Torbay as Jamie Bastien has been sent off! Their fate is in Latrobe Athletic’s hands but it’s still scoreless at Macquarie Docklands...
45 min: SHE 3-0 TOR – On the stroke of half time at Kingswharf, Sammy Mao strikes again and Torbay are taking on water quickly.
47 min: OCE 2-1 CFO – Outineau roared out of the dressing room and have their reward as Ronin Otero threads a pass through a crowded penalty area which is tucked away by Chike Obident!
51 min: STR 1-2 BUR – Strathcona pulls a goal back as Jeanne Gautier gets a toe onto a cross from Matyas Hayek.
57 min: STR 1-3 BUR – Vangelis Anagnakis with some twinkle toes to leave Kim Bo-Ram for dead and fire it into the net! Burnaby restores its two-goal lead; they’ve done all they can and now depend on what happens in Langlois.
59 min: OCE 2-2 CFO – Océanic are reeling as a poorly-defended corner sees captain Tobert Usher scoop up a loose ball and cannon it in from 25 yards. Outineau have levelled the score! But now the stakes ramp up again – if they draw, both lose!
63 min: LAT 1-0 WYN – Despair for Cale Rabie, who deflects Caspian Garberg’s cross into his own net! Some relief for Torbay, though they’ve still got to defend for their lives over there or goal difference could become a factor.
69 min: OCE 3-2 CFO – Océanic are in front again!! Jordyn Mah!
71 min: LAT 2-0 WYN – Wynleth are getting that sinking feeling as even with Torbay digging themselves into a hole in Breton, they’ve not been able to lay a glove on Latrobe today and Senad Tkalcic’s goal is something of a formality when it happened.
74 mins: SAI 1-1 NOV – This could be prove a crucial goal for Novonaya, getting them out of the relegation danger they’d been flirting with.
78 min: Danielle Maradrogba equalizes for Outineau! It’s 3-3 and we are in for a thriller of a finish... can one of these teams land the decisive blow?
84 min: Outineau are piling on the pressure and Sebastian Ellex-Mar has clanked a dipping 20-yard shot off the crossbar! The momentum really seems against Oceanic here; they’re still a goal away from the trophy but they look the less likely to get it.
90+1 mins: GOAL FOR OCÉANIC!! Aurora Nilsen times that run to perfection and gets in on Max Carrieri all alone – tucking it sharply inside the near post! What a dramatic end to this and surely the trophy is going to Langlois now!!
90+4 min: NO GOAL! Fury from the home fans at Stade des Pacifiques as VAR rules Nilsen was offside. It remains 3-3, and the championship they thought was theirs has just been wrenched from their grasp!!
90+5 min: COQ 2-1 HAM – Not really the biggest story but you might like to know that Tara Measley has scored a late winner.
90+6 mins: Full time in Vickery, it’s Strathcona 1, Burnaby at Bowreach. This isn’t over yet as the match in Langlois has been effectively paused to deal with trouble in the crowd... But as it stands Burnaby will be champions!
90+11 mins: Play never exactly restarted in Langlois, as stewards and police were called to handle a large group of fans trying to invade the pitch. But the message has come through that the match has been ended with the score 3-3. That means Burnaby jumps from third on first on the final day to win their seventeenth Kelssek Championship!

The Kelssek Football League has rejected CF Outineau’s protest at the abandonment of its final day match against Langlois Océanic, confirming the 3-3 result and thus the championship for Burnaby SC. Neither club was happy, evidently Océanic felt the goal should have stood, but also bitter was CF Outineau club president Hubert Paccini who thought his team were the ones cheated: “With the time taken for the review, and the delay caused by our opponents, we should have played at least five more minutes. It’s outrageous that because of our opponents’ fans rioting, threatening the referees and our players, they’ve decided the championship in the office and not let us win it not on the field. That chance was taken away from us by criminal behaviour and it’s wrong.”

Fisher nets the trophy in stunning upset
Kingstown wins Patriotes Cup for second time
A frustrating time in front of goal from Burnaby SC’s attackers turned into a Patriotes Cup upset for the history books as Damon Fisher got on the end of a corner late in the match to break the deadlock. Burnaby were hoping to win the league and cup double for a record third time, and were confident of a win against the second division’s runners-up. Instead, they were left to rue a litany of missed chances including Xek Sunsaber shanking a golden opportunity in the first half and Rory Joseph getting in one-on-one and taking the ball around goalkeeper Hakon Campeau, only put his shot onto the crossbar.
