Today I learned that wallaroos (NOT wallabies and NOT kangaroos, nor a hybrid of those!) are a species that exists and they are HECKIN' CUTE though they can be messy and need a LOT of care and toileting and all that messy rehab stuff.

I think I've found my new soul animal.

I've been on a bit of an on and off art kick for the past 2 years or so, and after that long, I can safely say I've made an original piece I'm actually proud of. Can't post it because of Pg-13 rules, even if non-sexual, but nonetheless, I'm actually getting pretty alright.

I've been struggling with art for literal decades because a lot of the art community is quite frankly fucking horrible at teaching, ranging from "just practice" to outright tearing me to shreds for not creating a masterpiece only 5 minutes after learning a concept. How I got over this was through games, as there's this really good game series called Art Academy (Split up between the DS version, Lessons for Everyone for the 3DS, Pokémon/Disney for the 3DS, and Home Studio/Atelier for the Wii U), and tbh, these games taught me more about art technique than 9+ years' worth of dedicated classes have done in a fraction of the time, mainly because it goes "Here are multiple techniques we will walk you through point by point and then let you try out all of them" and then goes on to consistently reuse these techniques in more advanced lessons. You know, practice using foundational concepts.

Highly, highly recommend.
