[Haymarket Riot]

Jolene walks briskly through a mob of anti-headquarters protestors, ducking as she flashes her NatSov card at all around her to avoid having tomatoes hurled on her fine pink dress.

As she ducks through the small gate to WAHQ, gnomish guards lining either side of the metal bars as it closes shut behind her.

She gathers herself and walks briskly towards a podium where delegates are huddled below, murmuring whispers of who could've possibly won these awards.

"Ahem," she announces through the blaring microphone as feedback momentarily deafens the audience.

"Right, well, it's out with the old and in with the new year now and has been for a good moment. Let's take a look back and see who we'll remember from 2024."

After a few moments of awkward silence, she continues. "Right, well, I'll just open up the first envelope here. The winner of The Newcomer of the Year Award is...Haymarket Riot. Wait, that's me? That's me! Oh! Okay, thanks everyone! Couldn't have imagined being here a year ago, etc etc. Let's move on."

She straightens her dress and coughs awkwardly as she shuffles through more notes. "Okay, so next we've got the award for the most proficient GA author this past year, The Gnome's Choice Award. While they're often known for their temerity, Norde Lot & co. of Bisofeyr ended up breaking the tie and making the grade this year. Congratulations, and apologies for the spotlight, Norde." She notes sympathetically.

Alright so next we've got the award for the most influential nation in the passage (or lack thereof) of GA resolutions this past year. The race for Peanut Gallery Award was close but ultimately, wait, what? It's me again? sigh you know just because you don't like the all-seeing delegation from Varanius doesn't mean I'm more influential than them, right? Look at them. They have billions of eyes. BILLIONS. Literal police state stuff. But ok, point taken, Haymarket Riot wins again. Go me."

She takes a drink of water and then continues. "Next is the Kennyite-Yeldan Roleplay Award. This year, the winner is someone I've learned a lot from in the short time I've known them. Please give a hand to Drs. Émilie Laroche of Knootoss. Her steadfast dedication to international dialogue has caused me to take a more policy-oriented view of much central GA legislation, especially in the field of civil rights."

"Next, in honor of my nation's predecessor on the General Assembly Secretariat, the Kenmoria Award honors nations who are especially helpful to their fellow nations. This year, the award goes to The Overmind, whose delegation has worked tirelessly to mentor newer nations in their authorship journeys. Our delegation in particular has had their help on several occasions."

"The Hippopotamus Award celebrates arguably the silliest resolution. This year, Ban on Certain Forms of Fast Food Restaurants won the award. Congratulations to Imperium Anglorum, the author. The runner up, the current resolution at vote 'Supporting Marijuana Smokers', lost by a mere single vote!"

"Praise be unto Gates the Great. Anyways, here's the Gatesville Award for the best repeal. Repeal "Cannibalism Act" wins! Congrats to Simone, and may cannibalism no longer disturb us all."

"The Contributor of the Year is The Overmind. Congratulations once again to their delegation!"

"The World Space Award, given to the most melodramatic event of the year, is given to Wallenburg's Removal From GenSec."

Jolene pauses for a moment to catch her breath before continuing, "Topic of the Year is given to Repeals/Resurgence of NatSov! Gates bless."

"And now, it's time to venerate the most deserving lifetime contributor to the General Assembly. The Catherine Gratwick Lifetime Award, given by the namesake Catherine Gratwick, honors one person per year. This year, we'll be honoring Wallenburg, who is indubitably an integral contributor to the World Assembly. Their work in developing General Assembly legislation is nearly unparalleled. Congratulations!"

"And finally, the Sanctaria Award is given to the resolution that contributed positively to legislation in the best way this year. This year, we honor Lieutenant Columbo and their excellent Prohibition on Coerced Testimony. Congrats!"

"And with that, I bid you adieu and good night!" Jolene Jefferson waves as she jumps off the platform and goes to get some lemonade.

"A glorious congratulations to all of the winners. May this be only a highlight amongst others to come for the new year upon us."

Just wanted to come in to give a big thank-you to everyone who voted for me, it's really an honor. I am not the best with words of gratitude but I hope you know that it does mean a lot.

[Wallenburg]

Representative Helen Trevanyika rises as Wallenburg is named for its award. Perhaps fittingly, perhaps sacriligiously, she is still dressed in her Catherine Gratwick costume, despite whole sections of it having since fallen off from amateurish stitching. As she comes forward to accept the award, some colleagues exchange confused, even concerned glances. Surely she wears other clothing, right? Surely she owns other clothing...right? They only find the same uncertainty in each others' eyes. Trevanyika takes the award and, grinning widely, bows to the room.

"My deepest appreciation goes out to all those who nominated this office for this award, and all those who cast their ballots for us in the voting period. I am incredibly proud of this office's body of work, incredibly proud. In the coming months and years, I will work to expand upon it, especially through our connections with fellow comrades in the international community. Together, we can continue to improve the world, one resolution at a time. The bizarrities of the last year surely now are nearing their end."

As if on queue, the room's power goes out with a clunk. The attendees are thrown into darkness. Or, given the several windows along the east wall, perhaps merely an unpleasant dimness.

"Oh, right. The Vote. They really did go ahead and pass that, didn't they? Uh, thank you all, my love to those who know, and take care! Excuse me, I need to be somewhere!" Trevanyika tosses, almost hurls, the award at an aide, who fumbles it twice before finally getting a hold on it. By then, Trevanyika is already out the door, loosening her saber in its scabbard with her free hand.
