Corrupt Dictatorship

Postby Bostopia » Wed Jan 01, 2025 2:12 pm

Bostopia absolutely has a domestic [sport here] league and we would tell you more about our domestic [sport here] league, but it's in Bostopia so you wouldn't know them, despite Bostopia having always been in Anaia. Your ignorance of Bostopian [sport here] matters is yours to own and not something to shame us for. If the players below aren't household names, you need to ask yourself the following question: 'Am I and my household prejudiced against Bostopians? They have always been in Anaia and yet I know nothing about their league, despite the fact they were cowardly sneak-attacked by Mertagne and I haven't lifted a finger to do anything about it other than watch rolling news coverage which doesn't talk about the Bostopian sport here league and cup competition[s] which bravely carried on during the conflict.'

As you can't even name the city any of the below players were born in (fumbling guesses at 'Newfort' do not count as you can't name the county or even the duchy Newfort is in, despite the fact Bostopia has always been in Anaia), or their ages, or who they play for, we aren't going to mention them either. We would prefer to use this space to confirm your prejudices against us by leaving those details blank.

All players are [their respective age] and this will probably not be their last World Cup. We are sure that [you] will feel [relevant emotion] watching them play.

GK - Alan
DL - Paul
DC - John
DC - Harry
DR – Joe – Go on, tell us how old he is, what his surname is and who he plays for. Can you not? This is because you are prejudiced against Bostopians and Joe in particular. What has Joe done to you? If he performs badly this tournament it is almost certainly your and your prejudices fault and nothing to do with his actual ability or form whatsoever. What-so-ever!The Bostopian Government, Football Association and Grand Council reserve every right to sue you for any mistakes Joe makes in this tournament causing a detrimental effect on the overall final score of the match.
ML - Alan
MC - Frederick
MC - Hayley
MR - Keith
SC - Alan
SC - Dean

Subs:

GK - Oliver
DL/C - Zach
DR - Alan
ML - Richard
MC - Trevor
MC/R - Allan
SC - Alan

The above players will play a very direct 4-4-2 and be absolutely unapologetic about it, especially if your goalkeeper is dangerously off his, her, or their line, as Bostopia chooses not to discriminate against who we attempt to humiliate by scoring against from within our own half. That we've had to tell you this is disgraceful. Bostopia has always been in Anaia and how we play should be known by now. Confirming your prejudices. Again. How many times is that now? I bet you can't even count past F in your backwards number system.

Home, Away, and Third

Image Image Image

Kits are self explanatory – they are the shirt designs that all ten of our outfield players will wear (and substitutes when entering the field at the appropriate time). They will all wear the same shirt design at the same time.

For those of you who are unaware, Bostopia will play in our traditional lime home kit with white and blue v-stripes, red and white stripes as our away kit, and third shirt is blue and also very pretty.

If your team is not designated as the home team, and your colours clash with ours, jolly well change your kits to an alternative. Our goalkeepers will wear a fluorescent coloured shirt with no pattern, though we will choose the colour which we feel your players will dislike the most. That we need to say this is nothing short of ridiculous, but our players will of course also wear shorts, socks, shinpads and boots. If you knew anything about them and didn't let your prejudice get in the way, you would know whether any of them use wee little bobbles for their hair or wear headbands to stop their glorious Bostopian hair getting in their eyes during the [sport here] match.

RP Permissions Box:
If my opponent RPs our match first, I give them permission to:
Bow down to Bostopian might at every opportunity.
Confirm your prejudices by telegramming Bostopia with any questions you might have and should already know the answer to.
Write mean things about Mertagne throughout their match report. It shouldn't be difficult. For instance 'and that player did that thing, a despicable act, just like when Mertagne bombed Bostopia first', or 'a despicable act, just like when Mertagne sold out their regional ally to a third party group to stop their ally from streaking. Mertagne, just like the player who did a bad thing cannot be trusted and a coalition of the willing must be formed to enable a sweeping pincer movement across the now-infertile Mertagnian plains which couldn't handle the exhaust of glorious Bostopian fighter jets flying low and slow above them on a honest reconnaissance mission. Bostopia must attack Mertagne now to save us all from living under their weird accents and bad breath.'

#2 LB Wilhelm Meine
#3 CB Oleg Shindeberg
#17 CB Dhidhen Tõru
#5 RB Viktor Aniko
#6 CM Andrejs Astafjevs
#8 CM Kevin Heen
#12 CM/AM Randin Kirtiman Asier
#7 LW Dietrich von Erlaid
#10 RW Kosma Minsen-Dwarasen
#11 CF Kasyan Menon

MORE INFORMATION

Main 11 in bold. All players are males.

Number - Position - Name - Age - Height - Birthday - Birthplace - Club

#1 GK Nikolai Gosens - age 31 - 192 cm - 3 January - Maiyeen - SC Ralsalien Circus

The only good goalkeeper in a whole country. His birthday will occur exactly at the time of the first qualification games, so Gosens want to perform as good as he can.

#21 GK Riku Maiyenkar - age 25 - 198 cm - 1 December - Kaide - Dasein

He started to play football in the village, and his first opponents were cows and dogs.

#38 GK Tarmo Ritsar - age 41 - 186 cm - 6 October - Rinkan - SpVgg Eintracht-Spartak Das

A funny veteran who is keeping a good atmosphere in the team. Recently he also became a grandfather.

#2 LB Wilhelm Meine - age 32 - 196 cm - 16 April - Mariengard - SpVgg Eintracht-Spartak Das

Wilhelm was a fan of his native club 1. FC Shinnik Mariengard, since the age of 3. In his teens, Meine was a ball boy on 1. FC Shinnik Mariengard matches while playing in their youth teams. He passed out from happiness when Valdis Handhreen, the head coach of Shinnik first team at that time, decided to put young Meine on a bench for the first time. Soon, Wilhelm became the legend of Shinnik Mariengard, playing for over 12 seasons for this club.

#14 LB Kurt Rosengarten - age 25 - 190 cm - 29 July - Karvastu - IFK Rathenburg

If Kurt Rosengarten would theoretically be the son of Kanmerin Lodsen (foreign minister) Akindzin Kurt, he would be called Kurt Kurt.

#3 CB Oleg Shindeberg - age 29 - 186 cm - 5 August - Rinkan - DVB Dompo

He's doing alright in the United Mandaran States.

#17 CB Dhidhen Tõru - age 23 - 192 cm - 17 June - Rinkan - Dasein

Tõru was named after currently-reigning Grandmaster Dhidhen I, and he absolutely hates his name. He is easily irritable and could be angered easliy, but that doesn't mean that he is a bad person. Anger issues are not stopping him to be funny and help others.

#4 CB/LB Aivars Suta - age 26 - 187 cm - 14 May - Suurejaan - 1. FC Shinnik Mariengard

Suta supports Grandmaster Dhidhen and even have his portrait in the living room. Many players of the team are making fun of him because of that. Especially Tõru.

#23 CB Ostap Mungain-Dehane - age 30 - 172 cm - 1 October - Rohkaal - SC Ralsalien Circus

Today Ostap got up exactly at 9:34:27, and ate macaroni, blood sausages and rye bread for breakfast. Then he watched TV for 53 minutes and 28 seconds. He also played with his cat and was bitten in the process.

#5 RB Viktor Aniko - age 28 - 178 cm - 2 September - Rinkan - Skonto Rinkan - VICE-CAPTAIN

Vice-captain of the team, who is humble and tries to help everyone. Everybody likes him.

#13 RB Mannfred Gaikar - age 23 - 186 cm - 17 March - Gauyisor - Ranpal

Mannfred hates the sun and enjoys when it is overcast. Thankfully for him, Ralsalin is a cloudy place, and from October to March, Ralsaliens could experience several consecutive weeks of completely overcast weather, and there were some Novembers and Decembers with only a few minutes of sunshine.

#6 CM Andrejs Astafjevs - age 24 - 182 cm - 11 March - Dartenpal - Kyethas Rivermen FC Image

In 2018, Andrejs, then being 18 years old, made his debut for the Ralsalien national team in the friendly match against Kanmer. Ralsalin lost 0-9 and Astafjevs is still having nightmares about that game.

#8 CM Kevin Heen - age 29 - 174 cm - 25 January - Rinkan - SC Ralsalien Circus

He is concidered the best player of SC Ralsalien Circus, so Kevin's club teammates are usually joking that he is not just a clown, but the entire fucking circus.

#12 CM/AM Randin Kirtiman Asier - age 25 - 191 cm - 21 November - Rathenburg - Dasein

Kirtiman Asier is a bit reserved and don't like to speak very much. But on the field, he is one of the most important players of Ralsalien national team.

#18 CM Aristarkh Diogen Veerman - age 32 - 181 cm - 7 November - Kagepara - IFK Kagepara 03

A true patriot of his native town of Kagepara. He plays for the city's team for 15 years. When in 2020 Dasein, the best club in the Order, tried to sign him, he said: "I would better die than move to this wicked capital!" and spitted on the Dasein jersey.

#77 CM Heinrich Gross - age 25 - 182 cm - 20 December - Kuru - IFK Rathenburg

Heinrich likes to read a lot, and spends about a half of his salary on books. He has about 1,000 books in his home library.

#7 LW Dietrich von Erlaid - age 27 - 178 cm - 30 October - Rasinku - Dasein - CAPTAIN

The best player here and a captain. He captained Ralsalin in the last Summer Olympics. Von Erlaid became even more popular in Ralsalin when, before the start of the Olympic Games football tournament, he delivered a motivational speech to the players who were frightened by the draw results. After his speech, Ralsalin managed to defeat a Banijan Olympic team, 2-1. That result was so unexpected for Ralsaliens, that Grandmaster Dhidhen I declared a national day off because of that.

#9 LW/LM Reiko Titov - age 25 - 189 cm - 16 June - Rinkan - Skonto Rinkan

Who the hell is Reiko Titov?

#10 RW Kosma Minsen-Dwarasen - age 21 - 185 cm - 29 September - Rinkan - Vengife Town Image

The eternal potential youngster, who's having a good time in the Kytler Peninsulae. Or not, because his team was relegated.

#20 RW/RM Mungain Sengendwara - age 23 - 186 cm - 18 July - Kõo - SC Ralsalien Circus

His strong side is intellect, and not physical strength. After becoming a champion of Ralsalin with SC Ralsalien Circus in 2021, he made 111 push-ups in a row and almost passed out. He is also a friend of Nikolai Tikhonov.

#19 RW Nikolai Tikhonov - age 24 - 170 cm - 11 October - Ralsiman - Rotor Hrindene

Tikhonov is interested in philosophy. While being in the national team, he usually likes to talk about philosophical themes with Mungain Sengendwara.

#11 CF Kasyan Menon - age 17 - 172 cm - 27 February - Kogeru - Dasein

The future hope of the Ralsalien football, probably. He is only 17, but was already called for the national team because of his performance for Dasein, where he debuted at the age of 15 years and 262 days. Menon is still a little bit naive guy who thinks that Ralsalien team could fight for the high place in the qualification group if everyone will believe in themselves.

#16 CF Gunthers Blagonadeždins - age 25 - 178 cm - 23 August - Ainasen - Pyathora Mariners FC Image

The surname Blagonadeždins means "of the good hope". Let's hope that Gunthers would bring many good moments to the Order.

#89 CF Jazeps Muktupāvels - age 28 - 185 cm - 4 April - Mariengard - 1. FC Shinnik Mariengard

I haven't seen him since the last Summer Olympics.

HEAD COACH:

Image

Seibold von Niermann
Age: 62
Birthday: 24 March
Birthplace: Dhaite
Managing Ralsalin: since 2022
Nickname: Absolutely Insane Grandfather

Von Niermann got his nickname... because sometimes he literally could be crazy. In his first official match as a Ralsalin manager against Kingdom of Trisenden (another Kanmerin vassal) he started a game with 8 defenders just for shits and giggles. Nevertheless, the game was won 1-0. After a few matches von Niermann abandoned his crazy ideas for the games, but still continued his eccentric behaviour. During the games, when Ralsalien team concedes a goal (it happens a lot), he is often seen punching his chair in a rage. After failed games, von Nierman usually rants at his players so much, that some of them are even afraid of him. However, National Ralsalien Football Federation doesn't pay attention to von Niermann's defiant behaviour as long as he brings good results, cause he is one of the best managers in a country. In 2021, von Niermann led SC Ralsalien Circus for their first championship title in 14 years, and then was invited to the national team.

The Eshialand Soccer Federation
Baptism of Fire LXXV Champions
Roster for World Cup XCVIII
Image

How did that work?

Prior to CE39, Eshialand's team was one lost in international waters. While they built themselves up to becoming consistent World Cup qualifiers, they weren't able to get any farther than that, being completely winless in three finals appearances, 0-2-7.

What's even worse, their regional record was worthy of mocking from the nation's soccer skeptics, with the Owls not getting to a regional quarterfinals in the better part of a decade.

And then... Kenny Morgan burned everything to the ground. He ripped off the bandage and replaced almost all of the team's old faces, even leaving Melissa Carey as the manager as he questioned what his own role on the team should be. And you know what?

It worked. They managed an unprecedented 3rd place in the Campionato Esportiva, showing that sometimes, a radical change is exactly what's necessary. This new look Owls squad was exactly the medicine the Federation needed to get out of the rut they'd been in, and it was time to test them out in the World Cup. With Kenny Morgan back at the helm, they were ready to fly to their next adventure and maybe, just maybe, make this the year the finally get a win at the finals.

First international: Aut-Ves-Nat 1-3 Eshialand (BoF LXXV)
Best win: Eshialand 8-2 Rea San Vegas (WCQ XCV)
Worst loss: Valanora 8-1 Eshialand (AOCAF LXX), Milchama 8-1 Eshialand (AOCAF LXX)
Most goals for: Eshialand 8-2 Rea San Vegas (WCQ XCV)
Most goals against: Valanora 8-1 Eshialand (AOCAF LXX), Milchama 8-1 Eshialand (AOCAF LXX)
Highest-scoring match: Eshialand 8-2 Rea San Vegas (WCQ XCV)

Home Stadium: The Eshialand City SuperDome, Eshialand City (capacity: 75,000).
If you're playing in Eshialand City, expect to find a cosmopolitan city at the cutting edge of modern tech, with lots of culture to take in at the same time. Maybe you could go for a bite to eat at one of the many nice restaurants, or spend a nice day with a walk by the seaside. There are plenty of options for things to do, so the world is your oyster. The stadium itself is a very modern facility, having been built back in 2021 in response to the Owls' incredible performance in the 75th Baptism of Fire, with a retractable roof in case of nasty weather (but don't expect to use it much).

Style modifier: +2.

Formation: 4-3-2-1
Head Coach: Kenneth MORGAN (M, 53)
Was he insane for the stunt he pulled in the last CE? Who knows, but it worked. Now, he was back and ready to bring this team into its new era at the World Cup, and he couldn't be more excited. While there might be a little resentment left from those who thought he never should've left Mel alone at the helm, you can't really doubt that sometimes, no matter how stupid his plans may be, Kenny Morgan really is a mastermind. Now, it was time for that mind to come back to the pitch for one more ride.

Assistant Coach: Melissa CAREY (F, 37)
She may not have been ready to manage the team in the CE, but you can't deny the results she brought. Her long experience as the team's captain made her the perfect choice to lead the team in a new direction, and she was credited with a lot of their on-pitch success. Now, serving as Kenny's assistant coach, she has the coaching experience and she's going to put it to good use. She's the team's new direction.

Manager: Ingþór Auðbjörnsson, age 54
Assistant: Jürgen Eisenhower, age 52

Goalkeepers
GK: Maja Topić, age 30, Brantisvogan Image (F)
GK: Lukáš Hanzelka, age 33, Avidë
GK: Olivér Szatmári, age 33, Sardin United
GK: Kardos Szûcs, age 26, Club Stein-los
GK: Pompilio Razo Ortega, age 24, Santos Luega

Thor has brought in accountability to the team and that takes the shape in taking players who are in form rather than just being a big name playing at a big club. That leaves Maja Topić surprisingly grabbing the number one shirt, though it is not without merit as her reflexes helped take Brantisvogan up to the top of the table and conceding less than a goal a game on average. She's developed into a real special talent, now it is her time to prove that she can do it with the national team as well as she does it at the club level. Lukáš Hanzelka earns his way back into the good graces of Thor after moving to the Rangers and being a big piece of their surprising domestic double, but being three years Maja's senior and Thor looking to the future only brings him back as second choice. Olivér Szatmári might feel a bit aggrieved, having been relatively consistent for Sardin for years, but you can't discount the title credentials and looking forward, Maja is a few years younger and can prove more than a single cycle solution. That being said, he's a top tier domestic keeper and will be quite ready to fill in should he need be called upon. Kardos Szûcs gets the last serious call up for the keepers after a decent season with Club Stein-los but that the former U21 player being called upon does show that the pool looks shallow, a concern Thor had addressed in his initial press conference for all position. While good, it will be concerning if Kardos, or Ortega, sees the field except against minnows.

LB: Slava Jakšić, age 30, Megabrantid Image (F)

RB: Remi van Blijderveen, age 30, Sardin United (F)
RB: Mislav Ivančić, age 30, Alnio Image
R/CB:Ompoly Sultisz, age 33, CA Paulinthal

With lots of movement in the past two transfer windows, there has also been a shuffle in the backline, with Thor clearly respecting the league in Squornshelous, as three players from the defense playing there and five players overall. Slava Jakšić wins the duel on the left side with a better showing during the season with Megabrantid and concerns that Kati Máté has been slowing down over the last season. Both are good fullbacks who are more offensive minded, which is a big difference compared to the rightbacks who are far more defensive minded, of which Remi van Blijderveen's sustained defensive prowess with Sardin earns them the starting nod. The centerback selection is a diverse group but Szôts leadership and Horvat's raw talent sees them as the starting pair. After that, there is a trio of players in their mid 20s that does offer some promise that the future at least on the defensive end will not be as dour as some of the rest of the pool looks like. Zétény Szatmári's move to Kelssek and Burnaby could be a huge move as the player goes from Cassadaigua to the big leagues, where if they flourish they could be starting come the next cycle.

Midfielders

RW: Sumaiya Zakiyyah Aswad, age 30, Stein-los Turkish (F)
RW: Kat Földessi, age 31, CA Paulinthal (F)
RW/MC: Joska Rác, age 23, Tanrısal
A/MC: Zágon Schmid, age 26, Tanrısal
MC: Moore Lafontaine, age 32, Stein-los Turkish
A/MCLR: Sebestyen Sallay, age 30, Club Stein-los
MC: Mátyás Vass, age 26, Northbrook Diamonds FK Image
A/MC: Danica Jukić, age 30, Hellinic Rouge (F)
A/MC: Áron Gombos, age 29, CA Paulinthal
D/MC: Borsala Takácz, age 27, Galatica (F)
CB/MC: Sarika Weöres, age 27, Emerald Coast AC Image (F)
LW: Asztrik Biró, age 30, Mâ Âlâmëómë Image
LW: Mara Gyenis, age 30, Tanrısal (F)
ST/LW/AMC: Mór Buday, age 23, Herzegovina City FC Image

The midfield has ever been the strength of Wanderers sides and yet despite the talent the previous team had, Thor has shaken things up here as well, dropping Földessi from her spot on the right and inserting Aswad from Turkish after their remarkable SuperLiga winning season. Offering a bit more balance than that of her CAP counterpart. On the left is another one of those near nailed on spots regardless of tactic or manager, as Asztrik Biró has been a real revelation and their brilliance at having broken into the Mâ Âlâmëómë first team as a teenager has definitely see them hit their full potential into a superstar now in their prime a near decade later. Dangerous as both a supplier as well as cutting in and finishing off attacking movements himself, he will be a real problem for any opposing players set to try to mark him. In the middle there is will be a shake up with Ilona Kárpáty having retired, so Tani's Schmid gets the call and having come up in their system he should be well accustomed to a play maker role in a more offensive system, while Moore Lafontaine looks to be his partner in a more support role and screening for the midfield. Off the bench there is Sebestyen Sallay, whose versatility in the midfield makes him quite the weapon to have, able to play nearly anywhere in the middle or slightly further forward with ease and will likely be the first man off the bench when Thor looks to change things up.

Strikers

AMLC/ST: Bogdan Laszlo, age 25, Algolia Image
ST: Nawar Taqwaa Bazzi, age 32, Stein-los Turkish
ST: Járngrímur Náttúlfsson Image, age 26, CA Paulinthal
LW/ST: Katinka Fazakas, age 22, East Franz Athletic Image (F)
ST: Szalyk Mezey, age 25, Paulinthal FC
ST: Nikolett Horváth, age 31, Club Stein-los (F)
ST: Ubaldina Mondragón Sepúlveda, age 26, Santos Luega (F)

There is no mistake, the Wanderers huge collection of attacking talent has come and gone and in response to that Thor has kept faith with Bazzi despite them starting to get a bit long in the tooth, as well as the form the striker has had in the past few seasons including the last one where they were part of the SuperLiga winning effort with their goal contributions. Bogdan Laszlo's has had a move from in the pool to a starting striker, whose preferred position is playing on the left or in behind the strikers, making it a sometimes awkward fit. That being said, their talent has been on display at the youth level and then with the first teams of Shamrock Cathair in Audioslava as well as the seasons prior with Algolia following their transfer. Katinka Fazakas had what seemed like a breakout year in Polar Islandstates with fifteen goals but is another in a long line of Pasargans who prefer to play on the wing instead of up front despite goal scoring talent. Járngrímur's paperwork for his nationality switch came in right before the last Finals with Graintfjall having quit entering, and he will be the first player off the bench should the team need a change in the attack, having had two amazing seasons up front with CAP. A move back domestically and in landing on her feet has seen Nikolett Horváth make it back to the pool but it might be a case of too little too late for this once promising striker.

Tactics
Image
Bringing back the four four two, even if the midfield roles were shaken up a little has brought the Wanderers back into a sense of familiarity and comfort that has allowed the team to progress forward towards turning the team back around to contenders. The more defensive midfielder will be responsible for screening the backline and providing passing options for both the attack and defense. Playmaking duties will fall squarely on the number eight who will have two striking options playing off the shoulders of the backline or attacking wingers to build an attack with. The wingers are not expected to be experts in marking and tackling but they are expected to track back and provide support in at least terms of bodies and numbers, which means they are going to be endurance based players with the amount of running they are going to do. The same will be true of the fullbacks, who will need to be competent enough on the ball to make overlapping and underlapping runs in the attacking third when the team has prolonged bouts of possession.

Showcasing all the flavours of the Constellation - that's what we're here for! Instead of picking an all-star team of the various territories, selected territories can pit their best XI against the multiverse, one home, one away. Of course, it's long been a matter of debate as to which territory has the best national team, the best clubs, the best league, etcetera. And this is one way to figure out roughly how good they are. Not every territory will be showcasing their talent, though.

The first nation on the phone was Irithoren, of course, but they declined for various reasons: it's baseball season, they're already ranked via the Campionato Esportiva - that was the reason they were called first, they already have an established team - but ultimately the organisation decided against it.

The second territory they tried to schedule was Ndugutisaoren, the only territory with a league that's seen vaguely on par with the Ko-orenite Top League. While the Ko-orenite pyramid goes down far deeper and has a higher ceiling, the Ndugutisaoren 'Ligi ya Soka Baina ya Miji' pits the clubs of the nine cities against one another and the idea is that a combined team should not disappoint. Under the scorching sun they've become one of the brightest stars of the Constellation with an exceptional HDI and ecological track record.

Up next was Isidoren. A sport-loving place with a massive twenty-eight team "Liga de Estrelas Amarelas y Dizenove Cruces", its various linguistic, cultural, ethnical, and religious groups that ultimately figure out their differences are not more significant than their similarities. After all, those outside Isidoren might not realise there are any differences at all. They will not play on Sundays.

The third territory that will show up to try out this World Cup qualification thing is Shahrbanoren. Some might say there are slight links between them and Pasarga, but much like how half the Multiverse seems to speak English, that's probably just coincidence. Eight teams make up the league - this year - as plenty of clubs spring up, join play for a few years, then die down. Six or so clubs are part of the establishment, though, backed by massive industry, the strong government, or sheer will of the community. One of the faster growing economies of the Constellation, though some doubts remain both about the accuracy of the numbers and the benevolence of its leadership. The future, however, is incredibly bright.

Up next is Tarören, not entirely new to this kind of thing, but with no official matches under their belt. A very strong force in the Constellation with a large population at just under two million (though with about half a million more under their control), diverse economy, and one of the larger single cities (visit beautiful Tergan! Or visit the smaller, but prettier Sülüzer) and an impressive domestic sports scene. It's expected that they'll pack a punch in international football as they have in ice hockey.

We're not running out of territories yet, as the next one's Cang Prathoren. A founding member of the Constellation, they then left, and only reappeared a short time ago after settling domestic politics, the coastal city state's three districts will combine to again become more than the sum of its parts. Each district still has its own leadership, but tax codes, foreign policy, and the like are at least all unified under a single flag. Visitors might recognise there's not a single city centre: getting their start as various fishing and harbour towns, each developed their own centre as the sprawls met in the (tiny) hinterland. Football's important but sailing is where they excel.

Chanmingoren is a hardline meritocratic territory and quite militantly so - to the point where Ko-oren sometimes asks them to tone it down and not exacerbate cracks already apparent between classes. At four and a half million souls, they're the second-largest territory in the Constellation and they throw their weight around. There's (some) money in the league, an impressive three-layer pyramid, that's pumping out increasing numbers of talent.

Ostfalen und Hinterpommoren is an odd one out: hearing that other places joined, it seems they didn't want to be left behind and now they're part of the Constellation by association. Not quite meritocratic (rather quite democratic, as they say, but we're not buying even that), and hardly concerned with their CO2 output, the territory is hard at work to get in line with the rest, as they have more or less forced themselves to do.

Lastly, there's Uruashoren, a mountainous, distant territory with a serviceable football system. Their home advantage is significant given the altitude and difficulty of travel. Otherwise they're the one question mark on the list as to how good they are.

KATZEBURGIAN NATIONAL TEAM

The Blue Cats

Style Modifier: +3

Image

The Blue Cats are the national representatives of Katzeburg, which are entering their second ever World Cup cycle after participating in their first ever international competition with BOF 84. The team is nicknamed after an incredibly rare breed of the country's national animal, the cat, which was long-rumored to exist in small numbers in the Campbellnia National Park along the country's north-east coast. While Katzeburg is a young nation, football has quickly picked up pace as the most popular sport on its shores. Initial hotspots of the sport which has seen the biggest growth in interest since the team's stellar performance in the previous cycle are in the more industrial north of the nation, encompassing the nation's central capital Katzestadt, the heavy industrial port city of Inverhaven, and the north-eastern logging city of Axmund.

The national team's first ever manager Becka Haberkorn will retain the position heading into the second cycle, after her contract was duly extended following the side's performance in the World Cup Qualifiers. Haberkorn was originally appointed following a handful of successful seasons overseeing an Inverhaven local side, before guiding the side to the final four of the Baptism of Fire in its first ever international competition, losing out to eventual champions Edsmontik in the semi-finals, and a respectable fifth place finish in their World Cup 97 Qualifying Group despite a late cycle fade away from the qualification spots.

Leading the side on the field will be Katzestadt AFC keeper Ry Whinery, who took over the role from inaugural captain Owen Levitt ahead of the side's debut in the Campionato Esportiva, with the keeper playing a key role between the sticks to date, picking up three clean sheets to date in international play. But the star of the show is none other than Katzestadt Rovers cult hero and national icon Drake Wruck, who exploded onto the international scene last cycle with 35 goals across the nation's 38 games, including 14 during the last qualifying cycle. Wruck has been to go-to striker no matter the situation for the Blue Cats, but the 32-year old is coming off a down season domestically, just netting 16 times as his Rovers side finished fourth in the league.

Meanwhile Axmund City midfielder Elmer Spears is one of the nation's brightest young talents, earning a spot in the starting XI during the last Cup of Harmony and locking it down with a strong international performance in the Campionato Esportiva. At just 18 years old, he is one of the younger members of the squad with a bulk of international experience and one projected to be a future captain of the national side should he remain of quality.

The Katzeburgian National League is the top flight of Katzeburgian football, encompassing 14 teams across North Katzeburg with a further two - Coalbrook Athletic and Windorf Town - to join the league as part of its third season. Katzeburgian clubs are rapidly growing in interest as a result of the national team's run in the most recent Cup of Harmony and Campionato Esportiva - where they bowed out at the quarter finals in both stages. This is very evident in the domestic league's growing influence to both bring in overseas players, as well as perform on the international stage - with Katzestadt AFC - two time winners of the KNL - claiming the nation's first ever international trophy with success in the Associations Trophy during the most recent IFCF cycle.

The league is currently a separate entity from the national football federation, the KFF - a divide which has caused no lack of controversy to date. The previous chairman of the KFF, Brendan Kerr, was infamously forced to step down from his role during the last World Cup cycle after it emerged he was leveraging his position as an MP to try and force the developing North Katzeburgian Railway to avoid the towns of Windorf and Coalbrook should they look to enter a team in the national league. After tapes emerged of Kerr's corruption, the KFF was swept up in a wave of national controversy - derailing the side's performances at the back end of the qualifying cycle.

Kerr has since been replaced by Sebastian Hawthorn, a former high ranking judge on the Katzeburgian circuit who has pledged to restore the national federation to the honour which it deserves. Hawthorn has already made moves in this regard by laying the groundwork for the national setup to expand beyond the main national team, and work with the Katzeburgian government to unlock additional funding for stadium expansions across North Katzeburg to facilitate demand for tickets and build the nation's reputation as a footballing power.

Image

For those visiting Katzeburg for the first time, they will get to experience a welcoming island nation based in the region of Esportiva that is slowly growing on the international stage. Unfortunately, the nation's infrastructure is still growing as well, meaning visitors heading to the nation for the qualifiers may only be able to see a small part of it unless they wish to go very far out of their way. Visitors of all types are welcome to visit Katzeburg, with strong laws in support of LGBTQ+ rights and a multicultural makeup. Travellers who do not often get on the beers may find local customs a little challenging, as the average Katzeburgian loves to put down a few no matter the occasion - this is particularly evident during sporting matches, with rumours out of East Katzeburg that a new record for drinking at a game was broken by a proud Katzeburgian college student during the most recent World Bowl

Only one stadium is of sufficient size to host national team matches, the national stadium and home ground of reigning Katzeburgian National League champions Katzestadt AFC, the Katzestadt Arena. Based on the edge of the nation's capital, the Arena has a capacity of 20,000 - small for many nations the side will be competing against, but huge by Katzeburgian standards. Expect a passionate and surrounding crowd atmosphere for home games, with local fans often creating a "moth trapped in a bath" atmosphere of chaos and confusion while remaining respectful which can throw off travelling teams.

Visitors to the nation will land at Katzestadt's International Airport just to the east of the main city - the only international airport in the country. A free and quick public shuttle service runs travellers from the airport to the city centre and financial district on a regular 15-minute basis, with Katzestadt Central Station allowing trips via train to the remainder of North Katzeburg, including Inverhaven and Axmund. South lies the affluent town of Barenwold and a wide range of agricultural heartlands, with the next major city to the south being Deerhaven, sitting on the southern coast of the nation. Travelers going east will find the rich forests of the Campbellnia National Park, while those going west are likely to see Mount Mercer - the largest peak in the nation and where the country's winter sports are based.

Of interest to travelers may also be the small island of Dragoonspiel up in the north west of the country - now famed as the stomping grounds of the Ynsygard Chess Club, champions of Elephant Chess Cup X and the most notable thing to come out of the island since its local 'delicacy' baked fish pie.

Katzeburg enter second cycle full of hope - will it get dashed quickly?

By Otis Huffman, KBC

The Blue Cats have announced their squad for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers, which is due to kick off in the coming days away in Omerica. Manager Becka Haberkorn has selected a mixed squad full of experience and burgeoning domestic talent as the side looks to improve on its fifth place finish in the WC97 Qualifers.

Katzestadt AFC keeper Ry Whinery will again take the armband after leading the side to a quarter final appearance at Campionato Esportiva 39, while Katzeburgian goalscoring legend Drake Wruck retains his place in the starting XI despite a poorer domestic season than some of his compatriots. Haberkorn has also opted to hand out call-ups to six uncapped players in her initial 25-person squad to take on Omerica and Milchama, including Refeld FC defender Callan Everill and VV Szbedansk keeper Beauden Moore. But by and large the core of the starting side is the same as the one which took to the field in the Blue Cats penalty shootout loss to Fhulghamous Peninsula in CE39 - with the biggest change seeing Katzestadt AFC striker Lloyd Field earn a spot in the starting XI after a breakout domestic season.

A total of 13 of the current 14 domestic sides have been included in the wider 40-person squad, with Avonsend United the only side to miss out on representation. Data analysis from KBC shows that unsurprisingly, the largest cohort comes from the two Katzestadt teams, with the reigning champions Katzestadt AFC seeing six players make the cut, while Inverhaven Ironworks were rewarded for their surprise run to second in the most recent season with four players making the wider squad.

Image

Manager Becka Haberkorn was positive about the side's chances and make-up ahead of the first clash with Omerica.

"We've got a really good squad that hopefully the nation will be proud of come the end of the cycle," Haberkorn said. "We've had to make a couple of transitions for those players who have stepped back a little from the last cycle, but the amount of talent to pick from is really encouraging and the addition of two new teams and growing interest in Katzeburgian football is only going to be a positive from here on out.

"There are some expectations around this time which will daunt a few of the players - last time around it was just going as best we can and we can be really proud of how we ended up going. If we can match or meet a lot of those performances we will put ourselves in with a great shout of upsetting the apple cart. This group I think has gone quietly under the radar as an exciting group - there are so many teams close in the rankings fighting for just two automatic spots, so there will be some high pressure games at every stage of the qualification cycle - the team and I can't wait to get underway."

Overview
Claudio Vantula is now entering his second tournament as manager of Mertagne's international football team, and the nation couldn't be happier with his and the team's performance. On the regional scene, Mertagne has entered a period of international dominance, reaching the final of the CAFA Cup three times in just as many editions, and claiming the trophy twice in non-consecutive cycles, missing out on the trophy in CAFA 9 in a deep blow to the nation's psyche, considering the Mertagnian penchant for nine-numbered things (like stars on the flag, for example), leading to a somewhat unfair change in management that seemed to be just what the team needed to come back and win the extremely named CAFA X.

Claudio Vantula presents an unchanged squad of superstars from that amazing CAFA X run for their attempts to break into the World Cup Finals once again in the tournament's 98th edition. This squad has proven itself time and again on the regional stage, but the World Cup itself is a different beat entirely, with many teams even within the region of Anaia finding themselves on much surer footing given the opportunity to play more eclectic opposition.

Historically in the NSWC, Mertagne have had a middling but improving performance in the modern era, with a slow and steady progress in the three cycles they have made qualification - the first two saw Mertagne finish third in the Group Stage of the Finals, and World Cup 97's expanded field saw Mertagne make history as being among the first teams to be knocked out of the tournament in a Round of 32. It's the hope that, should Mertagne make it into the finals this time around, they can look to improve on this performance and possibly poke around at the upper echelons of the knockouts. Going into the tournament as the 18th best ranked team in the multiverse (2 x 9 - ominous) with 19.04 ranking points, there is the potential to take home the entire thing should Mertagne play their cards right.

Elsewhere in Mertagne, the nation is currently undergoing several complex national-scale projects, some of which are holdovers from a previous government that had just enough momentum to look towards completion, even if under the more thrifty centre-right neoliberal coalition that now governs the country. They are including, but not limited to, the following:
  • The significantly delayed construction of a pair of bridges spanning the Dannin Sound, which will connect Horsehead Island to the mainland for the first time, saving car commuters several hours travelling between the northern coastal cities of Ostosaide and Keers, as well as reducing road pressure in the capital.
  • The integration of the Karodin Tetrarchy as an autonomous region of Mertagne, after a referendum was held by the population of the Tetrarchy following a series of political scandals amongst the nation's oligarchic elite. While the province is autonomous, thorough vetting of candidates for office in the nations more officially democratic system has aimed to tackle corruption and modernise the now ACORN-tied Karodinian economy, which is now using the Mertagnian Ducat for transactions. This has been done with sensitivity to the Karodinian way of life, which eschews modern technologies, but integration has seen mixed success across the nation. One primary point of contention is the upgrade of a new road directly to the Karodinian capital, Porzhibihan, which will only be allowed to be travelled on by car, and not the traditional Karodianian method of horse and cart. Rumour has it a 'horse lane' may need to be introduced to keep citizens happy.
  • The nation is also embarking on its first space exploration program, in conjunction with several other Anaian nations. You should hear more about that one this cycle in subsequent roleplays.

Breakdown
The cards present for this cycle include Saif Dedec who projects an imposing presence through his booming voice down the pitch when he feels that the team need a fresh perspective on their play. If a wildcard is needed, Mertagne has a new one for this cycle in the form of Lorne Stannard, and can easily bring out a reliable choice of half-Brenecian Callaghan Bauldry against more defensive sides, as his ability to snatch the ball out of the sky during set pieces remains unrivalled.

In defence, Vantula has kept a core back four that each showcase a variety of play-styles. Karon Murell, on the left, is a solid choice for ball distribution from the back line, and is a typical first choice pass option for Conwal Ibarborde, who shines in winning the ball from the opposition. Aato Irizarri is also a good option to pass to, and is capable of ensuring the squad as a whole transitions smoothly from a defensive focus to a more attacking one. The more 'park the bus' school of players such as Dominic Moko and Michael Thurtle give the side more solid options against attaching teams, and the previous two combined with Miliav Petremol can often form a rather thick shot-stopping wall that can be really tough to get through, but often lacks forward momentum, and as such is a combination that is only really used to slow down the flow of play to a crawl.

The midfield is centred around the pairing of Jordan Will and Aislin du Moucel, who have proven to be one of the foremost driving forces of Mertagnian international football over the last few years. When in possession, it's almost guaranteed the ball will pass between one or both of these players, and many teams that have been successful against Mertagne in the past have identified this link and exploited it. Vantula has continued to field this midfield core, which aims to get the ball on either side out to Stewart Bickley or Amy Quennell, who typically hang as deep in the attacking third as they can get away with when in possession, but substitution options can provide other players such as Roland Auber and Charlotte Callan to support in making those key passes up to the attacking pair. For a more defensive pivot around the midfield, players such as Stacy Tompkins and Alasdair Larreko can provide more experience in the build up.

Attackers are the sharp end of the wedge in the Green Goblins squad, but the implication is usually that they'll receive support from the wing in the form of a good cross. Someone who can convert one of those is up and coming star Trebuchet who proved pivotal in Mertagne's last few international outings and will likely start most games here. Alongside him is Burro Curwood, captain of the squad after Rhiannon Fawn's exit. Curwood is good at taking the defensive heat off of his team mates, and can typically pick up the ball after the more risky passes have been made up the field. Other options in the attacking group include Nazer Armenadriz, who excels at getting into space and unlocking the attacking third of the field out from the opposing defenders, and Christine Newbury, if a more close-knit option is needed and the opposition is playing a more attacking formation.

Stadiums
Should you play Mertagne at home this cycle, you will be treated to a match in one of the following stadiums:

Dannin City Stadium, Dannin, Dannmarsh (Capacity: 85,750)
Dannin City Stadium sits in the heart of Mertagne's capital, and its unique look ensures that it's both an art piece, a functional stadium, and an eco-friendly statement all at once due to its assortment of solar panels, which wax and wane with the passing of the sun - an event that happens on occasion here in the wetlands. Home to top-tier domestic team Century Mertagne, the patriotic lime and dark green seating is sure to excite any nation that comes to play here. The stadium, shaped like a question mark or a tadpole(?), with its tail end facing south, also boasts an entertainment complex and is a hub venue for the local community.

Dannin City Stadium will host the match against United States of Nova Calania.

The Ring Tank Stadium, Ostosaide, Harridan (Capacity, 54,000)
Located in Ostosaide, this stadium is home to Octosaide, and as the name suggests, boasts the region's largest enclosed aquarium on the outside of the stadium. Large enough for sea creatures of all types to enjoy their lives, the aquarium is carefully maintained by a complex climate control system, which has been upgraded in recent years in an effort to avoid promoting the growth of a thick green algae that would previously cover the stadium on a regular basis. Visitors to the stadium can view the aquatic flora and fauna from two angles - outside the stadium, with binoculars at regular viewing points around it, or from the inside at the Ring Tank Aquatic Viewing Centre. The pitch, located inside and away from the view of the aquarium, is well kept and its 54,000 seats are coloured in the blue and yellow of the local side.

The Ring Tank Stadium will host matches against Natanians and Nosts and Kandorith.

Nine Star Arch, Webster, The Forkelands (Capacity: 66,500)
The Nine Star Arch is an imposing sports stadium found in the city of Webster, and is home to a source of national pride - the fierce domestic football club FMFC Ninestar. The nine large spotlights that adorn the Nine Star Arch’s titular arch have many uses; two of them during games played at this stadium are to spin and provide a light show whenever a team scores, and to provide those living in and around the city of Webster with a live score graphic, with a number of lights on opposing ends of the arch lit with the corresponding team’s home colour depending on how many goals they have scored. Many teams that play here have the dream to 'capture the arch', which is achieved by scoring more than five goals in a game, so that a majority of the nine lights on the arch are in your team's colours. The national team of Bollonich was the first international team to ‘capture the arch’, with an 8-2 victory over Gortolekua in the 83rd Cup of Harmony. Could your team be the second team to accomplish this feat?

Nine Star Arch will host matches against City of Myrtle Beach and Olastor.

Flynn Ar3na, New Fligsive, Plitterland (Capacity: 88,750)
A project that could be considered the crucible of New Fligsive, Mertagne, the Flynn Ar3na (named as it is the third stadium to bear the name) was built as a multi-year construction project between regional construction giant Flynn’s, and the Mertagnian government. The Flynn Ar3na boasts a unique design that iterates on the design of its predecessor, the Flynn Arena in Fligsive, Euran Oceania Territories. This incarnation of the stadium has sacrificed some of its seats in order to incorporate a unique art section - where the old Flynn Arena’s upper ring would have been, here instead sit thousands of individually cast faceless metal statues, each inscribed with the names of Fligsivi civilians and combatants during the Corvidae War and associated Fligsive Incident. The unique acoustics that these metal statues cause in the upper ring creates a scintillating echoing effect when sound is broadcast from the top, which provides unique opportunities in this multi-purpose stadium, home to club side New Fligsive’s Memory. It is said that sometimes, the statues create the echo of a crowd lost to time.

Flynn Ar3na will host matches against Eastfield Lodge and Northwest Kalactin.

Style of Play
Style Modifier: -1.22
Description: Unlike his stint as Hispinas manager, Alfonzo Medrano did not advise SFI's national football teams to play an attacking mindset, instead, he prescribed a balanced style of play in a 4-2-1-3 formation that would easily transition to defensive or attacking set plays on the fly. Funelas took this advice to mind, hence the current identity of the national team. Frain also prefers a rigid style of play prioritizing defense over offense.

Official Kits
Libertad Sportswear supplies all national teams' kits with a 15-year contract. The national team will don its new kits for the 97th edition of the World Cup Qualifiers starting with a few pre-qualifying friendlies and a competition with Hispinas for the Trofeo del Cielo y el Mar, a competition to commemorate the friendship between the two nations which started during the Sangtian-Filindo War.

About Audioslavia

Potted history
  • Audioslavia reached the finals of World Cups 12, 19, 20 and 29, losing all of them and gaining a reputation as a team that chokes.
  • After thirty cycles away, Audioslavia returned to win the Baptism of Fire before World Cup 59, won a regional championship in cycle 60 and then won back-to-back World Cups in cycles 63 and 64. That's the golden generation right there.
  • Things went back to normal after that. The side lost a few more major finals, including World Cups 67, 69 and 76.
  • Recent cycles have seen Audioslavia fall to the midfield in the rankings, failing to qualify for four out of the last five World Cups. That disappointment was been offset by victory in CAFA Cup 3 and Cup of Harmony 83, both in Cycle 91. The side's fortunes have continued to slide since, and at this point football fans have become accustomed to the side being on the fringes of international football.
  • Audioslavia is one of two nations to have won five different major senior titles - BoF, CoH, WC plus two different regional championships. They recently became the only team in history to have recorded 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed finishes in each of the three WCC tournaments, plus regional competition.
  • Recently discovered in the history books: A regional tournament for the now-defunct FIFA region, held before World Cup 28. Audioslavia won this tournament, but do not consider it to be an official regional title unless Nepharans are in the room.
  • Audioslavia in the 90s have been shambolic, qualifying for only three World Cups in seven attempts.

Style of Play
  • Post Football is the name given to Audioslavia's style of play. It's based on the idea that, the less the game resembles football, the more ill at ease your opponents will be. Audioslavia play dirty, sideways and overly cautiously.
  • Kontrapuntzeka is another word for Audioslavia's style of play. Literally meaning counter-attacking, Audioslavia's national team are comfortable playing without the ball and charging forward in numbers when they do finally get it. Each player on this team has a deep understanding of how, when and where to attack on the counter. Losing the ball and allowing the Bulls to hit you on the break has been fatal to many a top ten team throughout history.
  • None of the above seems to work anymore. Speaking of top-ten teams, Audioslavia haven't been one for seven cycles now. Whatever it was Audioslavia did well, it seems the world has figured it out. Nobody in the country seems to know what to do about this.
  • Our footballers tend to be on the shorter, leaner side, with everyone outside of the goalie, centre forward and centre half topping out at about 5'10.
  • Audioslavian footballers are often tenacious, with the highest levels of stamina you'll see in world football. Audioslavian sides are often capable of playing at a high-tempo for long periods of time, and wins are often through attrition rather than skill.
  • Audioslavian teams are notorious for gamesmanship - the bending of the rules in order to gain an advantage. Players will taunt, feign injury, surround the referee, basically anything if it seems like it'd be beneficial. Audioslavians feel no shame in this. As far as they're concerned, their willingness to go further than the other team is a sign that they're more dedicated than their opponents might be. What might be considered dishonourable behaviour for you might be considered normal in Audioslavia.
  • Audioslavian teams fear losing. It's our greatest weakness and, given how this fear manifests itself in big games, a powerful irony
  • As well as lacking a bit of raw power, Audioslavian footballers often lack technique compared to their foreign counterparts. Nobody in the team is stationary and expecting a pass to feet. Passes are played into roughly the space the player will be sprinting into. When the side are countering, it's all speed-speed-speed.
  • Above all else though, what Audioslavian national teams often lack is heart. The worse things are going, the worse Audioslavians play. They're the classic bully. When things don't pan out as they expect, they retreat physically and mentally.

The Manager
With Winfridh having departed after the Cup of Harmony, the hot-seat has gone to former Cazadores Cathair manager Salvador Monterroso. Monterroso was semi-famous a while ago as a star of hit documentary A Tale of Two Cathairs. As a Cathair native for whom Cazadores was his life, Monterroso was the beating heart of the squad twenty or thirty years ago, if not the actual first eleven. As a player, he'd eventually find himself at FC Capri, before eventually finishing his career at Caza once more, again as a bit-part player. Going into management with Union Cathair, it was an open secret that his resume would be the first on the owner's desk if a managerial position at El Ruedo ever came up, and so it proved. While a limited player, Monterroso took his beloved Caza to two league titles.

Now in his late fifties, Monterroso has been prized away from his boyhood club on a permanent basis, having initially taken the role only for the CAFA Cup.

Stadium
The Beltzarga in Glassbridge, Cathair, is a modern but monstrous stadium. As square as a brutalist rubix cube, but made of glass from the outside, it' would make a beautiful modern art museum but a slightly annoying stadium. For every brand new spangly thing it has, there are two bewildering design decisions that make such a thing redundant. Like, sure, the commentators all have a big touch-screen each in front of them, but good luck getting them to work in inclement weather, and the seats are so uncomfortable you'll have cut off your blood supply to your legs by half time.

Home, Away

Home shirt is traditionally worn with white shorts and socks, but if our opponents are wearing that colour then we switch to the same deep red as the shirts. This is what usually ends up happening. Dark green or black shorts have been worn on occasion.

Style Modifier: +4.2

GK – Elandor Elenion (Rienerrion Town)
Golden glove winner in the inaugural domestic division 1 season, since the league went fully professional, playing for Rienerrion Town, having made his way through their youth academy rather quietly which explains why a player of his ability is playing for a mediocre mid table side. His first call up to the international side at 25 years of age and the most likely starter between the sticks will be the biggest challenge of his career so far.
DF – RB – Nepthys Thoth-Manon (Malakh FC)
An electric wing back for Malakh FC with lots of attacking potential culminated in being top goal scorer for Malakh FC, a strong seasonal performance within a weak defence didn’t provide a lot to shout about for his season regarding trophies so he turns his eyes to the international stage.
DF – CB – Sigunda Steiner (Altburg Wolves)
One of the two starting centre backs, clearly not in the team for their looks Sigunda has made a name for themselves as a no nonsense defender at Altburg Wolves. A very simple style of football where if they can get the ball out of the stadium a wry smile might appear.
DF – CB – Edla Grosslaufer (Dasmahler FC)
A solid performer in the top division who finished second with the Dasmahler squad recording the joint most clean sheets. Given their first chance of international football in the recent Baptism of Fire and has not looked back with enough accolades and plaudits that they are likely to start in any world cup qualifying.

DF – LB – Odelinda Daskruger (Dasmahler FC)
A promising new prospect for Dasmahler FC making their first full season with the first team and part of the defence with the joint most clean sheets in the league it is no wonder they were called up. Many expected Odelinda to be in the squad for exposure but rumours suggest they are likely to be starting.
MF – Rikecos Duskstriker (Zerynthia FC)
The first half of a formidable pairing for Zerynthia FC, an all round perfection that can play with both feet, has no problem taking players on and will hold his own when the opportunity comes to get physical. A goalscoring threat from around the edge of the box with one of the finest finesse shots that the league has seen quickly becoming his signature.
MF – Loruruk Hazeeye (Zerynthia FC)
And the pretty boy of the group. Plying his trade with Rikecos at Zerynthia everything just seems natural and effortless with this man. The calmest of penalty takers allowed him to accrue a few goals to keep him level with his clubmate and their friendly rivalry very much alive, this tournament their last chance to separate themselves. A short fuse if he’s on the wrong end of some physicality especially if his hair gets ruffled.
FW – RW – Sable Gillyflower (Timbery FC)
Sable is the quickest player in the top league and formed part of the attack that thrust Timbery FC to league champions so not one to be underestimated for their age at just 17 years of age. A diminutive player with quick feet, a classic winger, will be a threat down the right wing more likely to take the ball to the byline and fire in a dangerous ball across the 6 yard box.
FW – LW – Lupold Starkzahn (Gorumundi City)
Teenage sensation from Gorumundi City, rumours already circulating about a big money move due to Gorumundi being relegated he has tore up the league with regular assists and top goalscorer for Gormundi he is a threat and no wonder Apollinaris has taken a risk with him in his all teenage attack.
FW – ST – Aria Vielener (Dasmahler)
Top goal scorer in the league for Dasmahler at just 17 years old smashing records left, right and centre this mountain of a striker standing at 6”7’ and with the strength to back it up has forced their way onto the scene and it is no surprise there is a lot of buzz surrounding their inclusion in this competition.
FW – ST – Gimli Brambleberry (Timbery FC)
The youngest member of the squad at just 16 is making a name for themselves with champions Timbery quickly cementing a starting berth, a natural ability to score goals by being in the right place at the right time mirrors the fact all their goals have been scored within the box. A rather small figure standing next to their strike partner Aria but much quicker off the starting mark a truly dangerous pairing.

Bears Armed

‘The Bear-Belles’

National football organisation: ‘Bears Armed Association for Soccer’ (= ‘BAAS’).
BAAS Chairbear: Morra Dumble _ Clan= WestWoods; female Ursine; formerly manager of ‘Heroes' Park Heroines'’, one of the country’s leading teams, after being their chief coach and also playing for them in various roles for a number of years; appointed to this post approximately thirteen & a half years ago. Age = 50, fur = light-medium brown with reddish tints, left-pawed; reasonably fluent in a LOT of languages.

National anthem: ‘The Banner Green And Gold’.

Official supporters' organisation: 'Arri's Furry Army'.

Yes, it’s an all-female team again. As I’ve explained before, this is because the main ball-game that's traditionally been played in Bears Armed is actually closer to being a form of Rugby, but [for several reasons] that sport’s “proper” teams are all-male and so some females who wanted to make it as players decided that switching to Soccer — and trying to establish a professional league for that sport for themselves instead — might be a viable alternative: They were right, because that professional league was founded shortly after WC44 and so has now been in operation for over two eightSquareds of years.

All of the players and support staff are actual Ursines (i.e. anthropomorpic, bipedal, "talking" Bears), except for any whom I actually specify as being members of other ‘peoples’. The Harr'aynau people are physically human (more-or-less, anyway, although inclined towards heavy builds & hairiness), but are spiritually & culturally Ursine instead. 'Ursomorphic' Humans vary a bit in how much they look like Bears, but are spiritually Human and culturally part of the nation's small Ashkenazic Jewish minority.

The ages & lengths of experience currently given below are basically correct for the start of the qualifying process, although of course in some cases birthdays will take place during this ‘season’ rather than just (however much easier that would make keeping the records accurately…) only between ‘seasons’…

_______________________________________________________

Staff

Manager & First Chief Coach: Karra’harrna Thunder _ Clan = Gunnar; female Ursine; appointed 5 years ago, after 25 years as 'Chief Coach'; previously had been the Attacking Coach at ‘Newton Arsenal’ (another of the nation’s top teams),and had spent 5 years in that role after 8 years as a player (as Forward, Winger, and Midfielder). Age = 57, fur = dark brown, left-pawed; speaks English, Ursine, and Ruottsan.

Chief Coach: Marra Urrth’hrra Norr-Vurra _ Clan = Redwood; female Ursine; appointed to this job 5 years ago, after 25 years as the Attacking Coach; previously the Attacking Coach at ‘Merlchester Rovers’ (another of the nation’s top teams), and had spent 5 years in such roles after 9 years as a player (as Forward and Winger) there. Age = 59, fur = medium-brown, left-pawed; speaks English, Ursine, Arttorranick, and German.

Attacking Coach: Karra Brent _ Clan = Redwood, female Ursine; appointed to this job 6 years ago, but already had some previous coaching experience not only with her home team (from which she resigned when given this new job) but in one DBC as well; was a player for the Belles from DBC45 onwards, and remains on their roster as a reserve (#12); age = 43 years (but looks, acts, & is physically as capable. As though she were still in her twenties), either-pawed, fur = golden-brown; quite large & very powerful for her age, fast & nimble, with very good eyesight even by human standards; apparently fearless, and has better control over her temper than might have been the case back around the time of DBC45; she is a cousin of the internationally famous journalist/broadcaster Bark Brent; attended Holy Ternian’s School.

Defending Coach: Greenfinch o Barrdenn _ Clan = GreenWoods; female Ursine; formerly the Deputy Coach at ‘Lakeport Lionesses’ (another of the nation’s top teams), and had spent 9 years in such roles after 7 years as a player (as Lynchpin, Back, and [less frequently] Midfelder) there before she was appointed to this job 30 years ago. Age = 56, fur = dark brown & relatively long; speaks English and Ursine.

Goalkeeping Coach: Freeda Urrlafh’s-dottir _ Clan = Thuleann; female Ursine [of ‘Polar Bear’ stock]; formerly the Defending Coach at ‘Ammfahr Adventuresses’ (who play in the Northlands’ league), and had spent4 years in such roles after 11years as a player (purely as Goalkeeper) there before she was appointed to this job 30 years ago. (Age = 60, fur = white & trimmed relatively short, right-pawed; speaks Norren, Ursine, English, and some Ruottsan.

Set Pieces Coach: Karrh’hreena o Goodsword _ Clan = Sun; female Ursine; appointed to this job, which was a newly-established one, 6 years ago; previously a player for the Belles from the WC84 qualifiers through to this change of role, and for Kingly City FC where she had 29 years’ experience; age = 49 years, left-pawed, fur = ‘golden’, height = 6’6”; good eyesight even by human standards, and quite fast on her feet (not the fastest, but definitely above average), and has good positional awareness; long passes, across the field as well as up it, are likely from her; speaks Ursine and English; religion = One Plus Seven; a keen member of the squad’s own Chess Club.

Physical Conditioning Coach: Orriffharra _ Clan = Chargh'ghrarr; female Ursine (half-'Cave Bear'); was appointed to this job approximately thirteen years ago, after four years as her predecessor's assistant, and previously did this job for top-flight team Heroes' Park Heroines. Age = 47, fur = 'grizzly' dark-medium brown, left-pawed; speaks several forms of Ursine, as well as English; religion = Wookha.

Deputy Manager (Admin): Nennu Rangh’harr _ Free Sept = Rangh’harr; female Harr’aynau [humanoid]; age = 45 years, either-footed, dark red hair; speaks Herr’-Harr’aynau, Harr’aynau-Ursine, Ursine, and English; was a player in the Belles’ regular line-up from DBC45 until she became Assistant Deputy Manager 6 years ago and was then promoted into this job instead 2 years ago; at one stage there had been speculation that she eventually might have become the [adult] Belles first non-[physically]-Ursine Captain.

Routemaster: Helene Bosanquet _ Clan = Canton du Calvin; Human, female; on loan [again, for tournaments from DBC45 onwards] from the Bears Armed Tourism Agency. Her duties involve handling all of the team’s travelling & accommodation arrangements. Age = early fifties, hair = dark brown, right-handed; speaks French, English, and Ursine.

Deputy Routemaster: Leona Wright _ Clan = Greybear; female Ursine; had been a player from the Belles from DBC through until appointment to this newly-established job 6 years ago (when she also retired from her home team, River City) home team = River City); age = 40 years, right-pawed, fur = light brown (but, unlike that of many of her clan-mates, without any greyish tints); speaks English, Ursine, German, Ouesttree, and several other languages; her father is a merchant who took her along on some trips into Human nations during school holidays from when she was 9 years old until when she was 18, and she probably understands humans better than any of her other non-human team-mates does.

Doctor: Wierra Forest-Heart _ Ursine, female; Clan = GreenWoods (Forest Septs); age = 32, qualifcations include not only 'M.D' but also a degree in Sports Medicine (from NewBoston University, which is in the nation of Old Ceorana); hired by BAAS for this role five years ago; fur = medium-brown, left-pawed; speaks Ursine, English, and German; religion = One Plus Seven.

Chief Physiotherapist: Krrystal Bruin _ Clan = WestWoods; female Ursine; previously worked at hospitals in Wiston City, and helped with local amateur football league, but was appointed to this job shortly before DBC45 and has remained with the team since then; her job title was upgraded from just ‘Physiotherapist’ after DBC46. Age = looks mid-thirties, although actually in her early fifties, fur = dark brown, left-pawed; speaks English, Ursine, and Ouesttree; mother of one child, a daughter, Steffannee Bruin, who is one of this team’s players.

Chaplain, ‘One Plus Seven’: Marra Moon _ Clan = Silver-of-Night; female Ursine; assigned to this duty by her superiors in the Great Medicine Society shortly before DBC45 and has been posted at Wimbley Stadium in between tournaments. Age = early fifties [apparently], fur = light brown, left-pawed; is not only a Shabear but also a qualified psychiatrist; speaks Ursine, English, some German and Yiddish, and probably one or more other languages as well.

Chaplain, Ursion: Jharge “No Relation” Potter _ Clan = Artorran; male Ursine; assigned to this duty by his superiors approximately two years after the end of DBC45 . (Age = late forties, fur = light brown, right-pawed; like many other members of his clan, is slightly more “anthropomorphic” than is typical for Bears from this nation; speaks Ursine, Artorranick,English, French, some German, and some Greek; keen chess-player.

Security Chief: Hrrobin Drake _ Clan = WestWoods; male Ursine; formerly a policeBear from Wiston City, he had already been loaned-out to help with security for the Belles & for Wimbley Stadium during several cycles before his appointment to the newly-established role of Deputy Security Chiefs 6 years ago and then his promotion into this job 4 years after that; he is in a long-term relationship with player Steffannee Bruin…

Caterers: Jordon Blue

Fandom Liaison Officer: Etta Halliday, who played in the DBC45 team and was given this job shortly after that but took most of the WC93 cycle off on maternity leave. Now has a son, named Darren, who is approximately 15½ years old, who might be travelling along with her.

Harrdiharr Arranger: Karra-Marra SunDaughter _ Clan = Sun; female Ursine; age = 56 years; left-pawed, fur = ‘golden’; specialises in adapting the ‘harrdiharr’ for optimum effects depending on the performers, opposition, location, and possibly other factors; background not made public, but was hired by BAAS on a part-time basis for their campaigns from the WC84 qualifiers onwards. Sspeaks Ursine, English, and quite a few other languages as well (She seems to have a natural — or maybeso even supernatural? — talent for learning languages, and might also help the team with translation duties as well…); interests include chess, swing music [& dance], and stage musicals.

Kit Supervisor: Missus Burrows _ Clan = Brock [which is actually a ‘Double Clan’…] & 'Demi-Clan' within this = WesterBrock; female Brock (i.e. anthropomorphic Badger); apparently middle-aged; has been with the team since before DBC46; responsible for ensuring that all players have suitable kit available, clean and intact, for every game, and also [following the coaches’ orders] for making sure that their boots have the appropriate studs fitted for dealing with local conditions; also, makes sure that balls and [if necessary] temporary nets are available for practice when the team is away from home.

'Special Advisor': Sermharn the Wanderer: appearing as a male Ursine (of 'brown bear' type), whose age cannot be pinned down any further than "adult" (He has been around Bears Armed, on & off, for over a thousand years!); he is a mystic of considerable power who doesn't quite fit into any of the "usual" categories known to the Bears... He helps the team & staff to travel safely, even when this involves crossing between Realities, and may help the chaplains to protect them against supernatual problems at other times as well.

'Special Advisor': Lurra Lovegood _ Clan = WhiteBear; female Ursine; no playing experience beyond amateur level, her background is in journalism and education instead; age = 56 years (but looks significantly younger), right-pawed, fur = cream, short and a bit lightly built for her age; graduated from Hogwings Academy, where she now teaches 'Management of Magickal Creatures' (wand = 13", white ash with a Snorkack-mane core, familiar = a leucistic [i.e. white, but not albino] Magpie); speaks English, Ursine, and probably at least one other Ursine or Human language, and apparently can understand the language[s] of birds as well; generally serene in mood, but sometimes seems to be talking about irrelevant or enigmatic topics.
(OOC: Fans of Harry Potter might be able to identify the character from that series -- and from its fanfiction -- whom I've adapted here...)

Mascot: Perrabohor ‘Bright-Eyes’ (one of the “blessed” [but non-sapient?] Puh-Barra, or ‘Little Bears’), whose care is supervised by Lurra Lovegood.

[She was in the DBC45 & DBC46 squads before transfer to this senior team, where she has been a regular ever since.]

(#16) Marra o TrustyHand _ Clan = Sun; female Ursine; home team = Sun Valley Smashers, category & usual position = Goalkeeper; age = 49 years, either-pawed; fur = ‘dark blonde’; good at fixing things, which befits her name-line’s origin as their clan’s smiths. Considered not brilliant, but reliable, and is unlikely to spend much [if any] time “too far” forwards. [She was in the DBC46, and then in the main team from WC84 qualifiers through to the present day.)

(#30) Surranna "Dark Eyes" O Barrdenn_ Ursine, female; Clan = GreenWoods (Forest Septs); home team = GreenWoods Rovers, category = Defender or Midfielder, preferred position = Right Back, experience = 12 years; age = 25, right-pawed, fur = medium brown; speaks Ursine and English; religion = One Plus Seven. )Her international debut was in WC#97’s qualifiers, but she would have played in the Di Bradini Cup in the cycle before that if the Bears had sent a team to compete then...)

(#20) Marra Marcher_ Ursine female; Clan = March, home team = WildFair Warriors, position = Lynchpin/Defender/[defensive] Midfielder (preferably Lynchpin), experience = 13 years; age = 29, left-pawed, fur = light-medium brown. )Her international debut was in WC#97’s qualifiers, but she would have played in the Di Bradini Cup in the cycle before that if the Bears had sent a team to compete then...)

(#32) Marra vahr-Laharrl _ Ursine, female; Clan = Jherran Laharrl; home team = LakePort Lionesses, position = Lynchpin or Midfielder (preferably Lynchpin), experience = 12 years; age = 29, left-pawed, fur = medium brown with reddish hints. )Her international debut was in WC#97’s qualifiers, but she would have played in the Di Bradini Cup in the cycle before that if the Bears had sent a team to compete then...)

(#33) Sarree Smith_ Ursine, female; Clan = Ironbear; home team = Hero's Park Heroines, position = Lynchpin/Left Back/Midfeld Left (preferably Lynchpin), experience = 11 years; age = 26, left-pawed, fur = greyish-brown. She is also a prize-winning ballroom & swing dancer, and had been known to include occasional dance moves in her playing. )Her international debut was in WC#97’s qualifiers, but she would have played in the Di Bradini Cup in the cycle before that if the Bears had sent a team to compete then...)

(#5) Harroya o Sarrndale _ Clan = Herrchaum; female Ursine; home team = Merlchester Rovers, category = Midfielder or Winger — or, less frequently, Forward — on either side of the pitch, usual position = Midfield Left; age = 48 years and makes up in experience for the little that she’s lost in terms of physical ability, left-pawed, fur = medium-brown with grey hints; now in the job that she’d hoped for since early childhood, and doing very well for her home team as the latest “Harroya of the Rovers”; probably the least likely of this team’s players to get given a yellow cards, and has never earned a red one (DO NOT assign cards of either colour to her without obtaining my consent…). [International experience from DBC45 through to the present day.]

(#6) Steffannee Bruin _ Clan = WestWoods; female Ursine; home team = Wiston City, category = Midfielder or Winger, usual position = Midfield Right; age = 44 years (but looks a bit younger), right-pawed, fur = very light brown with hints of ‘gold’; slightly small for her age, but very resilient as well as nimble; has good eyesight by Ursine standards (and not bad by Human ones, neither); daughter, & only child, of the Belles’ current chief physiotherapist; married to a policebear named Hrrobin Drake, who is now the team's Security Chief, but with no cubs by him yet; favours ‘lilac’-coloured clothing when not in team kit. [International experience from DBC45 through to the present day.]

(#21) Arra O Hara_ Invisible Wabbit (anthropomorphic & human-sized "cartoon" rabbit, c.f. Bugs Bunny, invisible to normal vision but you can see her kit, too resilient to need taking off for injuries except perhaps if those were caused by extremely violent fouls), female; Clan = BerryGlades; home team = Kingly City, experience = 7 years; position = usually a Midfielder ["box-to-box"], on either side of the pitch, but effectively a utility outfielder; age = 25½, ambidextrous; fur (if you can see it) = light grey, might sometimes use her ears to hold the ball on top of her head while running ("no rule against it...". )Her international debut was in WC#97’s qualifiers, but she would have played in the Di Bradini Cup in the cycle before that if the Bears had sent a team to compete then...)

(#34) Emerladina Sunbird _ Clan = Sun; female Ursine; home team = Northgate Nomads; category = Midfielder or Winger, usual position = Midfield Left; age = 46 years, left-pawed, fur = golden with reddish tints, extremely good eyesight, has quick reflexes and is very fast on her feet, lightly-built for a Bear of her height (6’5”) but this is usual in her family & doesn’t weaken her; speaks English, Ursine, & French (And might be able to understand the speech of birds….), religion = One Plus Seven; interests include Ornithology, and Martial Arts. [International experience from DBC45 through to the present day.]

(#35) Karra Bronze _ Clan = GreenWoods; female Ursine; home team = Barrdenn Barbariennes, category =Midfielder, usual position = Midfield Right; age = 47 years, left-pawed, fur = medium-brown with reddish tints, height = 6’4”; speaks Ursine and English, religion = One Plus Seven; interests include fashion, rock music, and home brewing. [International experience from DBC45 through to the present day.]

(#7) Marra o Redbank _ Ursine (‘black bear’ ancestry predominates), female; _ Clan = BlackBear [‘Between-the-Rivers’]; home team = Tsikago Aces, category = Forward or Winger, usual position = Left Forward or Inside Left; Age = 43 years, left-pawed, fur = black; speaks English and Ursine; nicknamed “Little Storm” because, although relatively short for an Ursine (at only 5’9”), she is determined, fast, and very hard for opponents to predict; very good at manoeuvring through tight defences, has been willing to pass the ball to team-mates who are in better positions but has scored goals — including some from “surprisingly” wide as well. [International experience from DBC46 through to the present day, but only promoted to be a regular starter from WC#97’s qualifiers onwards.]

(#11) Urrma Kuthbearrh _ Clan = Errhabarra; female Ursine; home team = NorthPort Navigators, category = Forward, usual position = Centre Forward (but has also played well as Left Forward); age = 45 years, left-pawed, fur = light-medium brown, relatively stocky but not particularly slow because of this; very determined even by Ursine standards. [International experience from DBC45 through to the present day.]

(#12) Karra Brent _ Clan = Redwood; female Ursine; home team =LakePort Lionesses, category = Forward or Winger, usual position = Right Forward; age = 43 years (but looks & acts, & is as fit as though she were, still in her twenties), either-pawed, fur = golden-brown; quite large & very powerful for her age, fast & nimble, with very good eyesight even by human standards; apparently fearless, and has better control over her temper than might have been the case back around the time of DBC45; she is a cousin of the internationally famous journalist/broadcaster Bark Brent; attended Holy Ternian’s School. [International experience from DBC45 through to the present day.] She is now also the team's Attacking Coach.

(#22) Karra-Surey Norr-Vurra _ Ursine, female; Clan = Redwood; home team = Merlchester Rovers, category = Forward, usual position = Right Forward or Inside Right, experience = 15 years; age = 29, left-pawed, fur = medium brown, tall (6'11") and strong but that doesn't slow her down (and you really don't want to try blocking one of her 'power shots at close range...), very good at taking 'set piece' shots. )Her international debut was in WC#97’s qualifiers, but she would have played in the Di Bradini Cup in the cycle before that if the Bears had sent a team to compete then...)

[#23) Herrarna Holmbrook _ Ursine, female; clan = Harruor Erruur; home team = Barrdenn Barbariennes, usual position = Forward or Winger (both preferably on Left, Inside or Outside, can play on Right as well to some extent, not as Centre Foward unless there's really no other choice), experience = 14 years; age = 29, left-pawed, fur = light-medium brown, fast on her feet. )Her international debut was in WC#97’s qualifiers, but she would have played in the Di Bradini Cup in the cycle before that if the Bears had sent a team to compete then...)

(#24) Urratharra SunDaughter_ Ursine, female; clan,=Sun; home team = Sun Valley Smashers, usual position = Forward (preferences = Right, Centre, then Left; can be 'Outside', as alternative to 'Inside', but not as Winger if that's avoidable), experience = 14 years; age = 29, left-pawed (so, usually playing "cross-footed"), fur = light brown, good eyesight even by human rather than ursine standards, good at sending & receiving long passes; religion = Ursionity; only a very distant cousin to the 'Marra SunDaughter' who was the [adult] Belles' first captain & second manager. )Her international debut was in WC#97’s qualifiers, but she would have played in the Di Bradini Cup in the cycle before that if the Bears had sent a team to compete then...)

(#25) Beorranna Norr-Vurra _ Clan = Redwood; female Ursine; home team = Merlchester Rovers, category = Forward, usual position = Centre Forward or Right Forward (also has some experience as Left Forward, and as Right Winger); age = 42 years, left-pawed (so normally plays “cross-pawed”), fur = dark-medium brown with [natural] chestnut highlights; speaks English, Ursine, some Arttorranick; not closely related to this team’s ‘Chief Coach’; rather a devout follower of ‘One Plus Seven’, but not fanatical about it and tolerates the differing beliefs of others perfectly well; friendly rivalry with Harroya o Sarrndale. . [International experience from DBC46 through to the present day.]

(#13) Jirrehe varh-Joirrie_ Ursine, female; clan = Laharrlh Jherran; home team = Newton Arsenal, preferred postion = Right Winger or Outside Right (but also okay at Midfield Right, or maybe Inside Right), experience = 13 years; age = 26, right-pawed. fur = reddish-brown; also practices both Mixed Martial Arts and the Singlestick. )Her international debut was in WC#97’s qualifiers, but she would have played in the Di Bradini Cup in the cycle before that if the Bears had sent a team to compete then; was a reserve, rather than a regular starter, for the WC#97 cycle.][/ )

(#14) Rusana _ Ursine, female; Free Sept = Barreh Bahrar; Victories of Vichr, ctegory = Winger or Midfielder, preferred postion = Left Winger (or Outside Left), expereince =12 years; age = 27, left-pawed, fur = medium brown. )Her international debut was in WC#97’s qualifiers, but she would have played in the Di Bradini Cup in the cycle before that if the Bears had sent a team to compete then; was a reserve, rather than a regular starter, for the WC#97 cycle.)

(#26) Sarranna White _ Clan = WestWoods; female Ursine; home team = Wiston City, category = Winger or Forward, usual position = Right Winger or Forward (‘Outside’) Right; age = 40 years, right-pawed, fur = ‘cream’; said to be better than most of her team-mates at understanding humans. [International experience from DBC45 through to the present day; was a regular starter, rather than a reserve, until the team was re-arranged ready for the WC#98 cycle.]

________________________________

Usual starters = #1, #2 & #3, either #4 or #20, #5 & #6, #7 & #11 & #22, #13 & #14.
Usual substitutes #15 or #16 as Goalkeeper; #12 (Karra Brent); bench will also include a suitable selection to cover all of the other positions as well, varying from game to game so that [probably] everybody gets at least one chance to play, with both international experience and success so far during these qualifiers considered when deciding which players to use against the higher-ranked opponents rather than the lowest-ranked ones.

Style: Offensive, modifier = +3.5 ("A good offence is the best defence"...). This has actually been reduced slightly since DBC#45, when they used +4.0 instead, because team training since then has included a bit more emphasis on tightening up their defence.
They have also modified their planned formation slightly from the “traditional” Ursine one, which included a front row of at least 5 (normally arranged as 3 strikers & 2 wingers), with 2 midfielders, 2 backs, and a ‘Lynchpin’ (whose starting position was approximately be at the midpoint of an imaginary cross drawn between those other four non-forwards’ positions). Two of the strikers now drop back to a bit behind the line formed by the Centre Forward and the two wingers (who might move “in” by a little bit, as well), while the Lynchpin is now stationed noticeable closer to the backs than to the midfielders. “Joining the dots” would, looking at the pitch from above and placing the Bears’ goal-line at the bottom of the picture, give you [approximately] a stretched-sideways ‘W’ in front of a stretched-sideways ‘M’.

Penalties and direct free kicks are most commonly the responsibility of Karra Brent (#12) if she is on the field, or of Karra-Surey Norr-Vurra (#22), unless they are “last minute” ones (or within a few minutes of the game’s end, anyhows…) and the Bears really need another goal to turn a draw into a win or or even a loss into a draw: In the latter case this role is more likely to be assigned to Harroya o Sarrndale (#5) instead, because she is more likely to remain completely calm in such situations. Harroya is also the most likely player to take corners.
Alternatively, taking a free kick or penalty might sometimes be assigned to a different player instead if it was a foul on that player which led to us being awarded the right to that shot.

Opponents who RP first may _
Choose my goal-scorers: Y, except that this will NOT be the goalkeeper.
RP injuries to my players /Hand out Yellow cards to my players / Hand out Red cards to my players: Y to all, at least to start with, but remember what I've written here and keep it in limits accordingly... Any really serious offences by my players would probably result in injuries to your players, and causing any serious injuries to my players would probably require such obviously-deliberate attacks that your players would get yellow or even red cards as a result too. Don’t kill anybody, or inflict injuries that would be serious enough to end careers, without checking with me & getting my approval (which is unlikely to be granted…) first. (#5) Harroya o Sarrndale should NOT be reported as being given any cards unless you can get my consent first. (#12) Karra Brent will NOT be injured by anything that ‘mundane’ players do during play, not even by the most open & violent physical attacks.
Godmod injuries to my players: N
Godmod Other Events: Y, I suppose, at least as long as you do so in an AMUSING way... but please remember that Ursines are fully sapient beings, as much as Humans are, not instinct-driven animals. Oh, and of course female Ursines are not sexually interested in Humans (of either sex), and it's very unlikely that female Harr'ayanau would be either. Please don't have them run amok or outright revert to animality, without checking by TG first, don't make assumptions about their views on politics or religion, and don't do anything that would make more than one of them incapable of playing in their next game...

Kit: This incarnation of the team will normally wear the usual set of designs (from ‘ediraf’) that the Belles have favoured in the past.

Bears Armed has traditionally used base-8 arithmetic, for several reasons, and the set of ‘shirt numbers’assigned to this team’s players has been determined on that basis. The nunber '10' (i.e. eight) has been "retired", however, to honour the memory of two earlier wearers who particularly distinguished themselves.

NOTE: When travelling abroad, while not actually at the stadiums, all of the Belles’ players and staff will be wearing ear-rings that feature radishes and necklaces of corks from ‘effbark ale’ bottles: These protect them against potential infestation by two types of miniscule beings called ‘hwrachspurrts’ and ‘nargles’ respectively… Hwrackspurrts (which J.K. Rowling calls ‘wrackspurts’) were to blame for the Belles’ 1-11 defeat by the team of Squornshellan Remnant States during WC#94’s qualifiers, and this protection was adopted — on the advice of Lurra Lovegood — shortly afterwards. Fortunately neither type of being can enter Bears Armed unless already in somebody’s head when that person crosses the border, and cannot spread to any other person while here, while the good spirits can & do give our people sufficient protection against them while our players & staff are actually at foreign stadiums.

Home grounds

All of the Belles’ home’ matches will be played at Wimbley Stadium, except for those against Jeruselem (MD5) and Bongo Johmson (MD11) which will both be played at NorthPort National Stadium instead.

1/. Wimbley Stadium:[/b] Located a few miles to the north-north-west of Council Groves (our capital city), to which it is connected by rail as well as by road, this stadium was built from scratch — on part of a former Confederal Army base’s site — shortly before the qualifiers for WC52 began as a replacement for the Bear-Belles original “home” at ‘Plumtrees Park’ which has now been demolished. Its current capacity is approximately 60'000 for Ursines: Fitting about 40’000 humans into the visiting fans' half should be possible, and so that's as many as we'll let into the country. Accommodation for visiting teams & their staffs will be provided in a new hotel, less than a mile away, which has staff who are accustomed to dealing with Humans as well as with Ursines. The various other hotels in that complex and those at Council Groves can now provide about 12’000 rooms at a time, at varying prices, although of course some of those may already have been booked by people who have nothing to do with the Cup. Accommodation (at a fairly basic level) for up to 15’000 supporters will be available, at reasonable prices, in students' residences for the National University’s campus in that city: if any more than all of those facilities put together can house want to attend a match then they’ll have to borrow space in the area’s remaining Army camp instead...
There are still no direct inter-regional flights into Council Groves, so that visitors will have to travel by way of one of our neighbours and then continue onwards by one of the limited number of "local" air-flights or by rail. (People planning to arrive by rail will still have to travel via the nation of Mikitivity ... which still exists IC as far as the Bears are concerned, even though OOC it unfortunately CTEd years ago, because not only are there some bits of jointly-agreed RP that I want to keep but also that nation — and its routes onwards into the outside world — are/were located on the Bears’ most “accessible” border.)
Chief groundkeeper: Birra’hrreua Lirrenbrock _ a female ‘Brock’ [i.e. anthropomorphic Badger][/i] from the Lirrenbrock sept within their clan [This sept has its territory not far from Wimbley]; she is in the third generation of her family to work here, but is the first of them to be in charge (although that role usually has been held by a Brock rather than by an Ursine).

2./ ‘NorthLands National Stadium’: Located at NorthPort, the most cosmopolitan city in The Ursine Northlands, this facility was originally built for use by the 'Northbears' WC49’s qualifiers. Unfortunately the place has since seen rather less use than was originally hoped, but it is still in good condition and will hold about 43’000 Ursines or over 60’000 humans (or, of course, proportionate numbers of a mixture of those two species) because it was deliberately built to be rather larger than 'Plumtrees Park' which was then the Mainland's 'national' stadium…
Foreigners coming to this stadium may either travel to the ‘Mainland’ and then continue hence via a set of ancient [& probably magical] ‘Gates’ that link the country’s two sections — completing their journey by either rail or riverboat after that — or take ship directly to NorthPort.
Chief groundkeeper: Gyrth’hrra ShipBear _ Clan = Seabear; female Ursine; age = 59, fur = light-medium brown; starts these qualifiers in her fourtenth year as boss here, after five years as an assistant; formerly a first-team goalkeeper with ‘NorthPort Voyagers’, who are one of this city’s two professional clubs, she had already started to study grounds-keeping before her retirement from play.

NOTES

Ursines, Ursomorphs, and Harr'aynau, generally retain their "youthful" vigour at least into their mid-thirties, which means that footballers can have longer playing careers than is the usual case for Humans: Those who are in their late twenties or early thirties -- as some members of this squad are -- are likely to be still [at least] as fit as they were in their early twenties.
Ursines may tend to be a bit less agile & slower to accelerate on average than humans of comparable ages, but this team's members were carefully selected so the gap between them & their opponents in this respect should be narrower than some people might expect. They do tend to have [slightly] poorer eyesight than humans, on the whole (although the members of both Clan Gunnar and the Sun Clan are generally an exception to this rule, and the eyesight of the latter group is actually often at [slightly] better-than-human levels instead), so long-distance passes & shots at goal will tend to be rarer behaviour for them than they are for human teams... but their typical size & strength mean that when they're running with the ball it will probably take a very brave human — as well as a very skilled one — to tackle them successfully (or, at least, one who has reasonable experience of playing against Ursines…), which should balance that factor pretty well. They don’t jump very well, but then they’re generally rather taller than most Human players to start with so they shouldn’t need to jump as often in order to intercept [relatively] high shots...
Ursines are physically robust, of course, which means that they're much less likely than humans are to suffer injuries in falls or collisions. The females of this species are more even-tempered than the males, and the team's members will try to stay on their best behaviour not only in order to do well in this contest but also to impress upon the watching humans that Ursines aren't just "dumb beasts". They will not 'dive', or feign injury in other ways, because suggesting that they could be harmed so easily goes strongly against the grain. ‘Northlanders’ are maybe not quite as "civilised" as the 'Mainlanders'… or, at any rate, that’s the traditional stereotype..
They generally do not perform the sort of extravagant ‘goal celebrations’ that are seen in some RL football today. A brief hug from a team-mate, or just a pat on the shoulder, is usually all that happens…
Unless our hosts at the match in question object, this team's members (including the designated substitutes for the match in question) will perform a [fairly short] ritual that's called the 'harrdiharr' on the pitch just before play begins... This is a traditional war-dance, meant to over-awe opponents, that has come to be a customary prelude for team games as well (similar to the [RL] New Zealanders' 'haka'...).
As has now been seen during various tournaments, some of our fans like to take drums — and possibly also 'Urrs-horns' [which are similar to Alpenhorns), cow-horns, or other "musical instruments", too — along to the matches…

The team is accompanied by a number of sapient Ravens, who are there both to gather information about the rival sides and -- if & when visiting certain other nations -- to provide air cover in case of hostile waterfowl.
The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

The Aleirave Football Association
Baptism of Fire LXXVIII Champions
Roster for World Cup XCVIII
Image

OOC: All players in blue are ethnically Klysevian, all players in red are native Aleiravan.

The island nation of Aleirave is a rather small one, with a population of barely 50 thousand, located by a sea they know as the Retakono Me'a, or the sea of mystery. The only islands that were anywhere near them seemed to sink under the sea a couple years back, leaving them as the most isolated nation in the region of Anaia.

The nation of Aleirave was originally founded by Fyodor Tereyev, who was a puteshestvennik (or "traveller") from Klysevia, about 350 years ago. His descendants ruled the island up until the year 2023, when Alexandr Tereyev was shot and killed by a lone gunman in a peaceful protest. Since then, the island has been ruled as an Special Administrative Unit of Eshialand, effectively acting as its own democratic nation within a nation.

The last cycle was one all about rebuilding, and boy did Haulafo Paka'ula and co. deliver on that one. The Seagulls went from a team that couldn't get anything together anywhere to making it to the World Cup Finals (even making it to the top 16 before being knocked out by the eventual champions!) and finally making it back to the CAFA knockouts which they had so sorely missed for so many years. They grinded their way into Pot 2 of this World Cup Qualifying, and it was time for them to go even further this year.

But first? Surviving qualifying, of course. Qualifying didn't go the best for them in the previous cycle, where they were definitely saved by the finals expanding to 48 teams; the expansion meant they were able to sneak into the playoffs and secure their berth from the back-door. Here's to hoping the path is just a little smoother for them this time around.

Nickname: the Seagulls

First international: Audioslavia 4-0 Aleirave (CAFA II)
First win: Aleirave 6-3 Space Laser Dinosaur Robot Pirate Land (CAFA III)
Best win: Aleirave 6-0 Unpleasant (BoF LXXVIII)
Worst loss: Audioslavia 4-0 Aleirave (CAFA II)
Most goals for: Aleirave 7–2 The Cannaland Islands (WCQ XCIII)
Most goals against: Eraman 8-5 Aleirave* (WCQ XCI)
Highest-scoring match: Eraman 8-5 Aleirave* (WCQ XCI)

*This result also represents a scorigami, a score that had never occurred in the previous 90 cycles of World Cup competition.

Home stadium:

The Old Grounds, Lahaira (capacity: 100).
The Old Grounds are the original home pitch of the Seagulls team, and one that's hosted impromptu football matches for the people of the island ever since time immemorial. Recently a few seats have been installed to help make things more comfortable for attendees, but the original feel of this field remains the same as always: a quaint reminder of island life.

Manager: Haulafo PAKA'ULA (M, 59)
All doubts have disappeared surrounding Haulafo's performance as a manager. His results in the last CAFA and WC have left him as the national hero he really ought to be, and it's a momentum he's fully ready to carry headed into this one. Aleirave's fluid full-attacking style will be back as always, with many players playing a lot farther ahead than their positions may indicate. After all, why shut it down when you can keep the score piling up?

TACTICAL INFORMATION
OUT OF POSSESSION (4-3-1-2):
A formation which Ermin Drzic has utilised to good effect at club level with FK Arsika. The back four will remain fairly narrow and rigid out-of-possession, usually no wider than the width of the penalty area. When possession is lost, the central midfield three will quickly hurry back into position just in front of the back four (separated by no more than 5-10 metres) to operate as a screening presence in front of them. The attacking midfielder and strikers will press the opposition after the team has dropped back into their own half of the pitch, attempting to pin the opposition to one side of the pitch to enable the team to get numbers around the opponent in possession and win the ball back as quickly as possible. Mytanija will initially press the ball as high up the pitch as possible following a loss of possession, but once it is clear that the other team have gained control then they will drop back into the 4-3-1-2 shape.

IN POSSESSION (3-2-5): A back three in possession, comprised of the two central defenders and right-back tucking in. The midfield two will be made-up of the deep-lying midfielder or regista (e.g. Nurija Papez, Sadik Abazovic), along with the left-sided central midfielder (e.g. Potap Vdovichenko, Slavko Frantsaliiski, Mirko Ikodinovic). The front five will be made-up of the two strikers, with the attacking midfielder operating either between them or either side, dependent on where the ball is, whilst the left-back will hold the width on the left flank and the right-sided central midfielder (e.g. Ante Saranja, Ugljesa Gicic or Zvonimir Vukdelija) will drift into a position on the right flank to hold the width on that side.

NOTES:
• Ermin Držić (aged 50)
is a well-respected manager who played for Mytanija during his playing days. He did a remarkable job in getting FK Arsika competitive in the 1. Prvenstvo again, always difficult under the demanding owner Sacha Dobruzhanski, ending a lengthy trophy drought in the 40/41 season by lifting the National Cup with the club in combination with regular qualifications to IFCF competition. He is clever tactically, successful in implementing a complex pressing system which is in stark contrast to the way he actually played. He led Mytanija to World Cup 97 qualification, where they reached the round of 32 and were eliminated by Tumbra in extra time. This was followed up with a disappointing showing at the Copa Rushmori, albeit one which was marred by events back home (more to come!). You can learn more about Ermin Držić here.

• Mytanija has qualified to 18 World Cups, most recently World Cup 97, the country's biggest achievement in that competition is reaching the quarter finals in World Cup 68. Mytanija has won the Copa Rushmori once (XVII), to go with two victories in the Cup of Harmony (56 and 59); and a Di Bradini Cup win (DBC40). Some of these achievements were made under the names Mytannion/the Mytanar Region, Mytanija is ICly the exact same place.

• Mytanars are renowned for being passionate and therefore will not be afraid of confrontation if they feel they're on the end of a particularly rough tackle. At the same time Mytanars are not afraid of gamesmanship and may perform some questionable tackles of their own, along with tactical fouls to prevent the opponent from gaining momentum. Furthermore, diving, crowding referees and even intentional handballs (OOC: so Maradona's Hand of God and Suarez for Uruguay versus Ghana, that sort of stuff), to influence the game are not beyond Mytanar players. They will argue that winning is the most important thing and will do anything they can to achieve victory. Some might call it dirty, Mytanars don't, that won't stop them complaining when things go against them naturally.

• Mytanar fans are well-known for being hooligans, causing problems wherever they go and being prone to violence. They also make outstanding choreographies for their domestic sides and occasionally the national team (if they aren't fighting each other), so pyrotechnics, flags and lots of noise and alcohol are common place. Corteos (organised marches from a specific place to the stadium), are also common, these can lead to areas being shutdown as the sheer numbers of fans walking along roads block traffic and can lead to issues as police attempt to marshal supporters too. Given the ongoing political situation in Mytanija, whether ultra groups are able to put aside differences regarding politics, ethnicity etc for the national side is a pertinent question.

SQUADRA NAZIONALE DI JUVENCUS

Image

Information about Juvencus:
Capital: Pomena
Population: ~130,656,702 ethnic Juven, with an approximate total of 151,000,000 including immigrants.
Demonym: Juven
Country Code: JUE
Football Association: JFA(Juven Football Association)
Nicknames: Gli attaccanti(The attackers), La squadra(The team)
Football philosophy: At this point, to play football in Juvencus you need to understand that no matter who you are, pushing forward is the MOST essential core value you can bring in your game. Both strikers and defenders alike are equally likely to strike from any range at any time. Defense is not neglected, but is not as valued as being a scary goalscorer up front.
Official Record(WCC-Sanctioned only): 466 Games played(245 W - 110 D - 111 L)

La Squadra:

*BOLD & UNDERLINED INDICATES STARTER - Regional Identity/Ethnicity Indicated After Team

Goalkeepers:

This is a spot traditionally given to the players with the fastest reaction times and the grit to withstand the pressure of being the goalkeeper in a team that cares way more to attack than to defend. Despite the shit they receive in comparison to the rest of the team, those are true inspirations on the pitch and are always treated as such by players and other managers alike.

GK:Juan Carlos Ungaro (Age 30) (U.S Scudelli) - Sudjuven

GK:Sócrates Wright (Age 28) (AC Pomena) - Pomenienze
GK:Bardhyl Imeri (Age 24) (Cordoba FC) - Illireshtje
GK:Paula Rojas (Age 22) (AS Aguajú) - Sudjuven

Covering the team's needs according to each game has been the focus of the goalkeeper lineup for Gaetan since he took over. Juan Carlos Ungaro might be aging, but his heroics during the last few cycles are enough of a pedigree in and of itself. A natural-born leader and an in-game strategist, he has been quite the important goalkeeper for the team. Wright on the other, he is the definition of raw goalkeeping skill, leaps, reflexes and absorbing attacks as AC Pomena does, he is necessary to keep more offensive-minded teams in check. Bardhyl Imeri is seriously cosnsistent for Cordoba no matter his team's performances, being the league's best goalkeeper in tighter situations. Paula Rojas had her breakout year with AS Aguajú at long last, as her sweeper-keeper playstyle has found fruitful ground with the team's current strategies.

Defenders:

The defender's position is always kept for players who are speedy, positionally adept and physically strong for their size and usually either have excellent leadership skills, game intelligence or a hot-headedness and most of a time a combination of the three. It is a position that also lacks the respect it deserves in Juven society, but it is one that is necessary in order to make it easier for the goalkeeper and the team as a whole.

CB:Carlo Callejon (Age 32) (Club de PruxxéImage) - Sudjuven/Pomenienze (Captain)
CB:Urbà Pujals (Age 22) (Port Rhovanyon AFCImage) - Santmat
CB:Carlos Coste (Age 29) (Couno RangersImage) - Sudjuven/Pomenienze

CB:Giorgio Stafilidi (Age 27) (FC Piluzzi) - Pomenienze/Ampelone
CB:Ignacio Lopes (Age 25) (U.S Scudelli) - Poi/Sudjuven
CB:CB:Pau Puig (Age 30) (AS Aguajú) - Santmat
CB:Lucia Agnelli (Age 29) (Club de PruxxéImage) - Pomenienze
CB:Maya Nogueira (Age 25) (AC Serone) - Poi/Sudjuven
Caicedo Marroqui (Age 21) (Cordoba FC) - Sudjuven/Qurijan

The manager is testing his starting defensive backbone. Not any changes in names other than the clear preference of an in-form youthful Pujals measuring up to more experienced Callejon(whose leadership is of immense value in the currently highly-strengthened gli attaccanti side) and Coste(who has been pivotal to the team's defensive positioning). Port Rhovanyon's new signing has showed his worth in a highly-defensive Sylestonean league and is ready to prove his worth in the multiverse's most competitive championship. Out of the usual suspects on the bench, Stafilidi's been rock-solid for FC Piluzzi in their magnificent run as back-to-back champions and will be earning much-deserved playtime with la squadra, as Maya Nogueira will be proving her worth as the best offensive-minded back in the nation. Lastly, Caicedo Marroqui's breakout star performances have landed him a much-deserved spot in the defensive setup of la squadra.

Midfielders:

A midfielder is always a maestro on the pitch and depending on which side of the midfield they are in, their characteristics change. There's no pure centrocampista in Juvencus, instead players play as offensive-minded CDM's in the middle of the field. Those players usually have vision, exceptional passing or crossing and usually dictate the speed of the attack, the most necessary element of this team's tactics. They also fall back to form a bus when deemed absolutely necessary. In the sides, you have wide midfielders who act as supplementary wingers, players with speed who can provide to the wingers or the forwards when necessary. As such, you get to see fast players with great inward crossing and forward passing.

CDM:Giuseppe Conte (Age 31) (U.S Scudelli) - Pomenienze
CDM:Sara Ponce (Age 26) (AC Serone) - Pomenienze
RM:Simon Oliveira (Age 30) (Newark ArgyleImage) - Poi
LM:Joao Peres (Age 24) (CF OutineauImage) - Poi

CDM:Félix Sissoko (Age 30) (Jolbonopolis UnitedImage) - Scudellois
CDM:Raul Viejo (Age 22) (AC Pomena) - Sudjuven
CDM:Pierre-Didier Kouyaté (Age 33) (U.S Scudelli) - Scudellois/Banijan
CDM:Vitale Cino (Age 32) (Al Qurija FC) - Pomenienze

RM:Gustavo Alfonso (Age 23) (S.S.C Tipoli) - Sudjuven
RM:Paola Cernoia (Age 27) (Cordoba FC) - Pomenienze
RM:Mehmet Kurtuluş (Age 26) (Petro Mohammed FC) - Sudjuven
RM:Silvia Lopez (Age 24) (Herona Calcio) - Sudjuven

LM:Chimo Quaranta (Age 31) (AC Pomena) - Pomenienze
LM:Fantasia Bergoglio-Bertolini (Age 28) (Herona Calcio) - Pomenienze/Sudjuven
LM:Aboubakar Sidibe (Age 24) (U.S Scudelli) - Sudjuven
LM:Carla Acquati (Age 29) (FC Piluzzi) - Pomenienze

A midfield with talent in every single position is hard to determine consistently at all times. However, Joao Peres' talent with the ball on his feet, the openings he finds and his extremely good passing and crossing ability have earnt him a spot in the starting 11. With a mix of old and young, this midfield is destined to do wonders, with Sara Ponce being the midfield's finest addition, as she has been the carry for her team in AC Serone as well as an important tactician within the game for the team. Besides that, she is clinical in front of the net and is a great supplementary scorer. Last season also saw a revitalised Vitale Cino and while he is not in the starting line up he is a dangerous player that should be looked after, as he deserves his roses.

Attackers:

A position held with the utmost respect as it has the most prestige in Juven football. The task to be picked for it is simple, you should know both how to score and how to supply goals. It is a position that has the most competition, as most talented Juven players are up in front and are very known across the multiverse for their prowess in front of the goal. As such, it is a position with a lot of pressure to be in, much like the goalkeeper. Wingers are fast, brilliant technicians who are excellent suppliers and have a confusingly good shooting technique. Strikers on the other, they have a strong finishing touch akin to an unstoppable force on a consistent level.

RF:Gilberto Soares (Age 31) (U.S Scudelli) - Poi
LF:Carlo Bevilacqua (Age 25) (ChromatikImage) - Pomenienze
CF:Ceferino Audiol (Age 29) (SerrapinceImage) - Pomenienze/Santmat

LF:Ganymede Garcia (Age 30) (AC Pomena) - Pomenienze/Sudjuven
LF:Edu Coste (Age 30) (Cordoba FC) - Pomenienze
LF:Adrian Al-Hamdawi (Age 26) (Cordoba FC) - Sudjuven
LF:Nora Barrault (Age 22) (Northandryun RoversImage) - Scudellois
LF:Xavi Gasol (Age 22) (Herona Calcio) - Santmat

RF:Luizinho (Age 26) (Herona Calcio) - Poi
RF:Roberta Mancini (Age 20) (FC Piluzzi) - Pomenienze
RF:Gennaro Munir (Age 28) (AC Serone) - Pomenienze/Sudjuven
RF:Claudio Ballesteros (Age 29) (AC Pomena) - Sudjuven
RF:Pau Vives (Age 21) (AC Pomena) - Santmat

CF:Julio Campana (Age 30) (Montreal CityImage) - Pomenienze/Poi
CF:Martin Teixeira (Age 26) (FC Piluzzi) - Poi
CF:Joaquim Jorba (Age 25) (FC Piluzzi) - Santmat
CF:Sergio Caxinha (Age 22) (AC Pomena) - Poi
CF:Faustino Audiol (Age 24) (AC Serone) - Pomenienze/Santmat

No changes in the offensive lineup, besides maybe the addition of Roberta Mancini in the depth of this squad. However, the talent is there as it is the most coveted position in all of Juven football. Gilberto Soares is approaching his last productive years, but he is still shining both domestically and internationally, but he is being chased by excellent wingers who are more than willing to take his position. Xavi Gasol's new spotlight as Herona Calcio's starman in a dual-partnership with Luizinho have given the team an exciting new partnership to look out for.

Ceferino Audiol is consistently the nation's best player, a pivot of change and the last word la squadra can bring to the table. Without him, no consistency exists up front. However, Joaquim Jorba's performances as of late have been quite the big shout to keep Ceferino on his toes in the world's best league in Tumbra, despite its tighter defenses.

Lastly, an energised Bevilacqua has given gli attaccanti a spark it has long lacked. He has been the exact player necessary to help elevate the team onto the next step, as it is heading towards becoming a world-beater and a potential favorite to lift it all.

Main formation:

Image
Starting lineup sheet with most likely substitutions, should you RP before me however you are free to choose whoever you want even if not mentioned in this picture. Remember, the lower your team's rank, the bigger the rotation unless your country's a rival of mine.

Gael Gaetan's version of the Pomenienze involves an equality in importance for attacks from both the center of the field as well as the sides. This means players are enticed to test out their luck more often than not and it promotes cooperation between players familiarised with each other. This has worked wonders for U.S Scudelli, who have gone on deep international club runs as well as having the highest scoring output in the Campionato.

The formation is the typical 3-4-3 marriage ring formation. 3 center backs form the core of the backline, while the two center center backs closer to the sides can have a sort of free role to move to the side to defend but also move up to the midfield to orchistrate any attacks. To join them are 2 of the central defensive midfielders, who tend to hold back when it comes to defence and start position but move up usually with through-balls and crosses to the attackers or wingers. The side midfielders act as secondary wingers, meaning they have the exact same role at a slower intensity, with crosses to the main strikers or long-shots being their strong suit, they are usually the fastest players in the team. The difference between them and the wingers is that wingers play more forward because they usually possess better technicality with the ball on their feet, meaning they are swift dribblers and are a bit more clinical in front of the net, other than that, they help the striker in the first line of offense and defence of the high-line. Lastly, the striker is the main scorer, usually being fed with crosses and through-balls by the rest of the team, usually with a strong shooting ability and headers being their main source of scoring. This doesn't mean wingers or side midfielders do not get a fair share of their slice, however.

When it comes to penalties, the player who earns it takes it. When it comes to long-range free kicks, a midfielder will take it, while short-range free kicks are to be kicked by any of the wingers.

Stadiums:

Il Nuovo Stadio Olimpico della Pomena, Pomena(Capacity: 137,000)

Image

The Nuovo Stadio Olimpico in Pomena is a state of the art and gargantuan stadium, it hosts the games of the national team as well as the Copa Juve final. It has all sorts of amenities in and out of it from shops, to vendors, lounges as well as everything else one can put on their mind. It also used to serve as the home of AC Pomena prior to its move to Stadio Gianluca IV stadium.

The stadium of the capital has a different vibe from the previous Vinceti Catedral, all this colorful vibrance suddenly turns into an intimidating atmosphere which accurately represents the deep history of the nation. The chants feel a lot like a call to arms, ready to strengthen the Juven players while drums rhythmically beat through the entirety of the game. If a goal is scored, the loudest screams are to be heard throught the entire city, every celebration starting from this place is an emotional, triumphant celebration, echoing through the nation. After hosting the 3rd place playoff of the Independent Associations Cup 16, it is a safe stadium to visit and the people in it will try to carry on the legacy.

Located on the legendary Taranta Quartier of Pomena, it is in a central position not too far away from the city center and it is easily accessible by any means necessary, such as by train(being near the Taranta, Antelope and Vittoria stations), by bus, or by car.

Stadio Gianluca IV, Pomena(Capacity: 85,000)

Image

Stadio Gianluca IV is the newest major stadium to be built in the nation funded directly by the Holy Emperor himself. It is a state-of-the-art facility with all the newest multiversal stadium technologies in use, such as airconditioning and artificial grass that feels like its real equivalent among others. Stadio Gianluca IV has been the home of AC Pomena for the past couple seasons and it has already created an impression as an impressive and daunting place to step into, let alone play. Expect the players and fanbase to have more of a grit in this stadium as it is building itself up to be a cathedral of dreams.

It is located in the Casa Reale Quartier of Pomena, a very central position right on the richest part of the city and it is very easily accsible by both car, train or bus. By train an individual would have to get out at either the Casa Reale station or the Castelnuovo station.

Il Scudelliano, Scudelli(Capacity: 55,000)

Image

U.S Scudelli's ground, Il Scudelliano is the city's marvel. It is a square structure where the seats are literally next to the pitch, allowing for pitch invasions to happen at any time. Thankfully security personnel keep a tight look and as such they do not happen often. On the other hand, it also positively enhances the performances of the players by receiving positive chants from the fans this close to them while simultaneously making the pitch tremble as if there is an earthquake happening.

Located at the Toluja Ward of Scudelli, it is very easily accessible by all means such as cars, train, bus or whatever else. By train an individual would have to disembark at the Toluja, Scudelliano or Pax Pomen stations.

Stadio Electrico, Aguajú(Capacity: 34,000)

Image

A stadium built and supported in majority by funds of its supporters, who own a large share of their favorite club, AS Aguajú. It has a sky blue roof(that is also color-changing) and an odd square shape. It has a reputation for being a stadium with an electric atmosphere, almost as if one is being inside a thunderstorm. The locals of Aguajú are known for their impulsivity and striking behavior when supporting their favorite sports teams, with gli attaccanti being no exception.

Located at the 29 Novembre Municipality, it is accessible by car, train or bus. By train it is reached by stopping at the 29 Novembre and Diletta Guietti stations.

Stade Colonial, Pomena(Capacity: 19,000)

Image

Stade Colonial is perhaps owned by the most misleading club in all of Juvencus, Union Pomena. Located in the most staunchly Panjuvenist and colonialist quartiere di Fonseca in Pomena with a wonderful view of the Princess Daniella IV hill and is specifically designed in the way portals are meant to be designed around Juvencus. As a stadium it has a peculiar atmosphere, one may initially feel they are entering an elegant stadium in a royal area before the chants start becoming more and more aggressive and daunting. Expect flares and smoke.

It is accessible by car, bus and tram line the tram line 7 that traverses the entire coastline. Stops at Ernesto Munoa Square Station(which also serves a metro station) and Cuccitini Station are also viable options.

Choose my goalscorers: Yes but please, for the love of god, if your team is low-ranking, new or whatever try NOT using most of my starting lineup players and instead using my depth, unless it's a knockout game. Even if your team is high-ranking, still try to use a couple of my substitutes thanks. AKA what I am saying here is, be reasonable and realistic.

Home-Away-Third

The World Cup 97 kits, and the CAFA Cup 9 and 10 kits remain in use for Flavovespia. They’re a fairly standard Flavovespian kit, a “double V” motif on the shirt, stretching across to the sleeves. The yellow shirts are accompanied by black shorts and socks, with some yellow trim. As per usual, the away kit is a reverse palette, allowing interchangeable kit elements. The third kit is the purple, white and turquoise of Anaia.

Squad

Manager

Manager – Victor Adeyemo Age: 51 [FVA]

Victor Adeyemo guided Flavovespia successfully to World Cup 97, and they won all 3 group games. Whilst the game against Farfadillis in the Round of 32 was a letdown, few could blame Adeyemo for it. In CAFA Cup 10, the 2 defeats in the final were sad for the nation, but shouldn’t undermine what was a great tournament for the side, who were never favoured to win it all. A very eccentric character, rarely sitting down in the dugout, and always animated in press conferences, he turned heads when named as manager. However the former striker and fan favourite at the clubs he played at has shown strong tactical knowledge, and solid man management, living up to the pressures of guiding Flavovespia in the post Augusto Rinaldi era.

Goalkeepers

1 Peter Marriott Age: 22 Position: GK Club: Bavingtor FC Caps: 6 Goals: 0
12 Nathan Crewe Age: 35 Position: GK Club: Marthorpe City FC Caps: 111 Goals: 0
23 Garry Bowles Age: 32 Position: GK Club: Loxthorpe Rovers FC Caps: 1 Goals: 0

A change in goal for these Qualifiers sees Peter Marriott take the #1 jersey. His form in the CAFA Cup 10 was sublime, brought in as a bold decision after Nathan Crewe’s so-so performances in the group stages, and a penalty shootout win confirmed his spot. Maybe his distribution is a bit wayward, but at only 22 he already looks a top quality shot stopper, and has excelled domestically. Nathan Crewe is all but certain to be in his last cycle. A very solid career, and still dependable at international level, his height and reach are key assets, and he can clear the ball far. Garry Bowles remains the third choice, by no means a bad option, but a sense he’s unlikely to ever become the starter for Flavovespia.

Defenders

2 Stan Scott-Wilson Age: 27 Position: LB Club: Marthorpe City FC Caps: 114 Goals: 1
3 Roger Burden Age: 25 Position: RB Club: Marthorpe City FC Caps: 32 Goals: 0
4 Paul Amos Age: 29 Position: CB Club: Bavingtor FC Caps: 32 Goals: 0
5 Paul Taylor Age: 32 Position: CB Club: Casuals Osteria [KRY] Caps: 178 Goals: 4
13 Richard Storrie Age: 24 Position: LB Club: Bavingtor FC Caps: 25 Goals: 0
14 Nazir Hussain Age: 31 Position: CB Club: Garden City FC Caps: 68 Goals: 2
15 David Jarvis Age: 24 Position: CB Club: Sporting Club November City [CAD] Caps: 13 Goals: 0
16 Kevin Holland Age: 20 Position: RWB Club: Binclestead Wood FC Caps: 0 Goals: 0

8 defenders are in this squad of 23 for the World Cup Qualifiers. One debutant is in the ranks, Kevin Holland replaces long serving right back Andrew Dance. Likely to be a substitute, Kevin Holland is a slender, pacey wing back, able to break quickly and with a good eye for crosses and long passes, although his pure defensive skills are more questionable at international level. Stan Scott-Wilson can play full back on both sides. He’s both tall and quick, and can dribble out from the back, he’s also known for his posh accent and appearance. Roger Burden is at right back, he’s become more consistent internationally, timing any runs forward better whilst improving his ability to track and mark wingers and attacking midfielders. The centre back duo likely to start are Paul Taylor and Paul Amos. Paul Taylor is a tall, strong veteran, and definitely one of the more aggressive and outspoken players. Paul Amos is the slightly smaller of the two, but compensates with good pace. Nazir Hussain is a dependable backup, not flashy or extravagant, but a strong tackler and a fan of quick clearances. David Jarvis is a fairly small centre back, not the strongest, but also has good positional awareness and on the ball skills. Richard Storrie is a backup left back, only 24 but already showing signs of reaching consistent international caliber. Few major weaknesses, but also doesn’t excel in one area compared to the other full backs in the squad.

Midfielders

6 Anthony Lane Age: 28 Position: LAM Club: Loxthorpe Rovers FC Caps: 49 Goals: 6
7 Christopher Hill Age: 25 Position: CM Club: Marthorpe City FC Caps: 76 Goals: 7
8 Charles Adams Age: 28 Position: CDM Club: Maethoru SC [KOR] Caps: 106 Goals: 7
11 Jonathan Bagshaw Age: 31 Position: RAM Club: Marthorpe City FC Caps: 247 Goals: 139
17 John Fletcher Age: 22 Position: CDM Club: Bavingtor FC Caps: 17 Goals: 1
18 Michael Waller Age: 26 Position: CDM Club: Marthorpe City FC Caps: 0 Goals: 0
19 Amrik Singh Age: 32 Position: RAM Club: Binclestead Wood FC Caps: 103 Goals: 25
20 Matthew Fowler Age: 26 Position: RM Club: Bavingtor FC Caps: 5 Goals: 0
21 Russell Robinson Age: 27 Position: CM Club: Langmere Green Rovers FC Caps: 26 Goals: 2

9 midfielders make up the squad of 23 with some big names joined by a debutant. Undoubtedly the star of the show is Jonathan Bagshaw. Returning domestically to Flavovespia to play for Marthorpe City, the right attacking midfielder and captain has been a generational talent with his pace, agility, shooting and passing skills. Anthony Lane and Amrik Singh are the choices for left winger. Anthony Lane had a so-so domestic season, but has stepped up whenever he plays for Flavovespia with his brilliant pace able to create opportunities. Amrik Singh may be slightly less agile than his peers, but his ability to cross and shoot are very formidable. The central midfield is a key area, and Flavovespia are confident in their pairing of Christopher Hill and Charles Adams. Hill has great vision and passing range, if he gets into space, he can easily find the player in space. Charles Adams can dribble it all over the pitch, and is willing to get stuck in to win the ball back. The duo are particularly tough to match at their best. Russell Robinson has been something of a revelation at central attacking midfield, his strength and passing allowing quick turnovers and attacks. John Fletcher is still only 22, but has shown a robustness in the midfield, and will fight to win back the ball against anyone, practically an unflappable personality. Matthew Fowler has great passing and crossing, although his relative weakness in shooting means he can struggle on the right, and has options ahead of him in the team. Michael Waller is the second debutant in this squad of 23. Another strong midfielder, he’s shown a great battling spirit domestically, and has earned his spot in the squad.

Forwards

9 Charles Shepherd Age: 23 Position: CF Club: Xaiv 1919 [SAT] Caps: 40 Goals: 20
10 Peter Langdon Age: 24 Position: CF Club: Mipojoseon [QUE] Caps: 47 Goals: 14
22 Richard Birmingham Age: 29 Position: CF Club: Ousevale Borough [KRY] Caps: 60 Goals: 15

Just the 3 strikers in the squad, although with a 4-2-3-1 formation, it’s not a big surprise. The battle is largely between Charles Shepherd and Peter Langdon, both two young, promising strikers. Charles Shepherd has great hold up play, and can bring in the wingers to dangerous positions. He’s also fairly clinical in front of goal, if not a pure poacher. Peter Langdon is very pacey, maybe not the best contributor to build up play, but he can run off the shoulder of defenders to create one vs ones. Richard Birmingham has patchy international form, but keeps his spot in the squad. Physically strong and an aerial threat, he could be an imposing option against certain centre backs.

Tactics

4-2-3-1 is the default formation for Flavovespia. The defence will more than likely be a flat four, with limited pushing forward from the full backs unless Flavovespia need a goal. The midfield duo will be split between the ball winner, who’s mainly moving across the pitch to try and hassle the other midfielders to win possession, and a regista. The regista, a playmaker who sits deep, will be the main creative outlet for the side and the first choice for the team to pass to after gaining possession in their half. In the attacking midfield trio, the job of the left and right attacking midfield is to drift wide, but then seek an opportunity to cut inside. However they must keep the option to cross option. The central attacking midfielder needs to be able to play vertically, running from midfield to attack. The lone striker needs to be able to hold it up to bring midfielders into the attack, but can also shoot themselves. Rarely will Flavovespia not play with 4 at the back, but a 4-3-3 or a 4-4-2 can be switched to. Formerly a side who played very direct, Flavovespia will be a more balanced side now.

Team

Playing in the following formation: GK | DL DC DC DR | MC AMC MC | SC SC SC

The first player(s) named in each area of the team start the game. Our line-up will broadly be as follows (unless you RP one of our players has an injury or something):

GK: Natural
DsL-R: Waterman, Sackholme, Greentender, Waite
MCs: Graeffis, Sunteller, Bridgebuilder
SCs: o.t. Finches, Newlands, Russo

Further information on the players is below if it is required and/or of interest.

Number, Name, Position, Age, Place of Birth, Club
All players male (He/Him) unless specified

Goalkeepers - 3
1 – Daniel WAITSMAN - GK – 27 – Remmerham, Mournhow Island Image – Juniper Mournhow F.C. Image
13 - Marcus NATURAL - GK – 35 – Fringilla, Chaffinch Island Image – Cottsworth City Image
Having excelled as a goalkeeper from an early age in Fringilla, Natural's surname came naturally to him following glowing reports from his coaches on the way up.The only thing that had held him back from number one status is Softstep's superior foresight.
12 - Moyake ONYEFULU - GK – 34 – Dugba, Cobrio Jensee Island – CF Solidarite Akash, Cobrio
She/Her
Onyefulu is half-Ochreite, being born to an Ochreite mother. Whilst convention in Cobrio is for the mother's name to be carried over, Onyeful's own mother was insistent she take her father's name. She is currently playing for CF Solidarite Akash and is one of four overseas players drafted in by the Ochre Islands during the current crisis.

Defenders - 8
18 - John KRINGS – DL – 25 – Rocksminster, Anley Image – Lucyston Anley XI Image
2 – Elry o.t. Embersway – DC– 23 – Sunny Cove, Chaffinch Island Image – Lansdorn F.C. Image
4 – Miranda GREENTENDER – DC – 29 – Richardsville, Juniper Image – C.D. Isla del Fuego Image

16 - Kyle WAITE- DR – 28 – Obberby, Dracaena Image – Cottsworth City Image
5 - Manny SECONDBREATH – DR – 21 – Lucyston, Anley Image – C.D. Isla del Fuego Image
Amongst a very fit, professional squad, Gorgewalker is probably the fittest player on the team, largely in part due to his enjoyment of walking along the many gorges that make up the Ochre hinterland. Employed as a wing-back by West Bellflower, Gorgewalker displays many fine qualities going forward and in defence.
6 – Sammy GATSTON - DC – 26 – Nuntsby, Handsby Image – Nuntsby City Image
3 - Michael WATERTON - DL – 33 – Endswick, Handsby Island Image – Nottshore Turquoise Image
Waterton comes from a small hamlet just outside Endwick called 'Waterton', which his father named when he first settled the area and is set on building a new town there. Wanting to stay local and help his family, Waterton has turned down offers from larger clubs to stay with Nottshore Turquoise, who are based on his home island of Handsby.
15 – Julian SACKHOLME - DC – 33 – Bellflower, Mournhow Island Image – Ousevale Borough
Sackholme was born in Bellflower to parents who were members of Krytenia's diplomatic corps. He spent the first few years of his life in Bellflower, before moving to Ousevale, his parents hometown. Whilst he hasn't been able to secure a place in Borough's starting XI, he's keen to impress during the Cup of Harmony to further put his name in the plans of Ousevale's manager.

Midfielders7
15 – Gregory G. GRAEFFIS - DMC – 31 – Endswick, Handsby Image – Lionsville Transports Sport Club Image
20 - Eliot SUNTELLER - Vice-Captain - D/MC – 31 – Renhold, Mournhow Image – Lansdorn F.C. Image
Sunteller is a promising young footballer brought along to CAFA 6 to give him some experience on the regional stage before possibly making the WC94 squad. His mother, a follower of Byerxys and noted soothsayer raised him on her own from young following his father's untimely passing. Sunteller currently plays for Lansdorn, where whilst he makes a good number of appearances from the bench, clearly shows a lot of promise and potential.
8 - Luca BRIDGEBUILDERCaptain - AMC – 30 – Aguaclara, Cardenao Image – Bellflower A.U. Image
Bridgebuilder is the shining star of Bellflower A.U. XI's youth academy and currently plies his trade in the first team in the Ochre First Division. Born on a small island in Cardenao to two Ochre Island parents, he is the first dual-Anaian citizen to play for the Ochre Islands. As well as football, Bridgebuilder also has a strong interest in diplomatic relations and is already tipped for a political career once his still-young playing days are over.
11 - Lindsay RANNING - AMC – 23 – Dornton-on-Sea, Dracaena – Lower Soffsley Image – Lansdorn F.C. Image
She/Her
14 - Vic MANUEL - MC – 27 – Port Flamerty – Nuntsby City Image – Bellflower A.U. XI Image
17 - Brian CLIFFTREADER - MC – 25 – Panchurch, Flanbourne Image – Nottshore Turquoise A.F.C. Image
18 - Stephen BANANAGROVE - AMC – 21 – Youngstown, Handsby Image – Bellflower A.U. XI Image

Strikers - 5

19 – Marisse o.t. FINCHES - SC – 21 – Bellflower, Mournhow Image – Bellflower A.U. XI Image
A relation of the former Prime Minister, Willow of the Finches, there have been comments that Marisse is here based on her name rather than ability. Whilst Marisse isn't exactly short of talent, there's still an argument that she's much too inexperienced to have been taken to international competition by the national side.
She/her
10 - Susana RUSSO – SC – 32 – Bridgdon, Handsby Image – Dynapolis United, Cobrio
She/Her
Susana had big shoes to fill, having taken the place and number of the Ochres Bostopian-born wonderchild, Blue Gibson. However, this isn't the first time she'd been faced with adversity, moving to Cobrio early on as her mother took a job in an international freight firm in Callisto, Hearthlands, who had a lot of trade with the Ochres. She rose through the youth ranks at Heart of Omorfio, then broke into their first team aged only 17. She signed for nearby 'rivals' Callisto City at 18, then moved to Dynapolis United in Cobrio's second city at 21. Surprise has been expressed in some quarters that it's taken Russo this long to catch the eye of the national team, but it's not taken anyone in Cobrio by surprise that she has shone on this stage.
9 - Jessica NEWLANDS - SC – 27 – Lander's Port, Mournhow Image – Hempeak Hill Image
She/Her
7 - Finn NORTHSWAY - SC – 31 – Easington, Grand Ochre Image – Slipsway Town Image
22 - Florence MIDNIGHT - SC – 27 – Nottshore, Handsby Image – Nottshore Turquoise A.F.C. Image

Kits & Logo

Home, Away and Third
Image Image Image
Whilst the Ochres are almost recovered from the war, OchreSport and the OIFA have decided to use the same kits as were used during CAFA 8 to save on expenses and materials.
The home kit is a traditional striped ochre, blue and white scheme.
The away kit is a selection of colours taken from the flags of two of the Ochres cities.
The third kit is a contiuation of the 'Anaiaway' theme, reminding us that even when away from home, we are still at home in our region.
Before CAFA 2, the Ochre Islands Football Association ran a competition to design the team's logo, which was won by a 34 year old man with neither design experience or taste. Fortunately, an update of the design to account for taste was commissioned and outsourced by the OIFA, which is as below. The badge prominently features a 'little mint green hat', which actually commerorates the Ochre Islands victory in the second CAFA tournament.

The Ochre Islands play a possession-based style of football which aims to prevent the opposition from scoring by simply not letting them have the ball. The players will be taking chances when playing the ball forward and passing into space when it's available and there is a strong chance of us retaining possession.

THE HOLY EMPIRE WC 98 SQUAD

While the nation took a long break from WCs 8 through 24, the Holy Empire is proud to be the only active nation to have participated in WC 1.

Though it pretends not to be, the nation is equally proud to have won 5 World Cup titles; and its sole Cup of Harmony title was COMPLETELY INTENTIONAL.

The oldest team in the World Cup returns to the fray! Can they add to their tally of World Cup titles? Can they qualify this time after winning the last Cup of Harmony? Can they continue their epic battle with Audioslavia over who gets to lose the most finals? Let's find out...

For the second World Cup in a row, the Holy Empire is fielding a squad of....

Knee-high argumentative ankle-biting garden gnomes with springs in their football boots.

They're small, they're bearded, they wear pointy gnome hats, they run twice as fast as a normal human, they squabble a lot between themselves, they usually only communicate by going 'chitter-chitter-chitter-chitter', and 'WEEEEEEEE!' (the latter while flying through the air - see below); and they're prone to occasionally - and randomly - biting the ankles of their opponents while calling out "CHOMP CHOMP!". They now also say 'HAWWWWWWWWK' - see below.

Their speed is a natural advantage, as are their low centre of gravity, and extraordinary dribbling skills (passing the ball isn't really part of their core strategy); their lack of height an obvious disadvantage. To counter the latter, they have springs installed in their football boots, and the goalkeeper has spring-loaded extendable arms. The downside is that the gnomes absolutely love the spring-loaded football boots, and are prone to use them at random inappropriate moments, shouting out 'WEEEEEEEE!' while flying through the air, the wind whistling through their beards.

Where HEFA found them is anyone's guess.

But this time there's a twist.... For reasons that currently remain obscure, at the end of World Cup 97, the gnomes discovered legendary Valanora player Laborious Hawk, and made a life-sized sculpture of the Vanorian made entirely out of butter. They will carry this sculpture to all home and away matches, gathering around it pre- and post-match to chant 'HAWWWWWWWWK! HAWWWWWWWWK! HAWWWWWWWWK!'. God only knows what they're up to; well, God, Juan Tzimisces, and Margaret, anyway.

Style Modifiers / formation

Frosty football is attacking football. The Holy Empire always plays a 3-5-2 formation using overlapping wingers that turns into 3-3-4 on the counterattack.

[OOC'ly, for the purposes of scorination, the team uses the maximum attacking style modifier permitted by each cup's hosts.]

Kit
The team will wear famous Imperial Gold and Red, as worn by the Holy Empire since WC1...

Image
Image

Home first, away second.

OOC'ly, the kits were designed by Red Blackiland, and the crest by Audioslavia - and I'm entirely grateful; I'm very happy for RB and Audio to take OOC credit. IC'ly, HEFA deny the Mundies had anything to do with it.

The gnomes aren't entirely happy that they don't get to wear read and white - traditional garden gnome colours - but they'll live with it.

Stadium
The Holy Empire plays its home matches in the bejewelled, platinum-domed, and purple stone-walled Imperial Hippodrome, the oldest World Cup venue still in use, and one of the most famous - and impressive - stadiums in the multiverse.

Because reality is malleable in the Empire, the stadium never looks quite the same twice, but mundy reports from visiting teams suggest that it looks something like this:

Image

Sort of; usually; maybe.

RP instructions:
Have fun and use your imagination - but don't kill anyone, and don't try and launch attacks on the Dreamed Realm; largely because you can't.

Some basic Dreamed Realm RP rules:
Remember that the Dreamed Realm lies entirely outside of Ordinary Reality, and is utterly impervious to harm from what we charmingly call 'mundies'.

Some points to remember about travel to, and playing in, the Dreamed Realm:

1) We control the nature of reality in the Dreamed Realm; reality and time are malleable within the Realm. This isn't used to cheat - all normal rules of football are strenuously followed - but it does have two major side effects:
A) Any injuries to either team in Imperial home matches are immediately healed.
B) No violent or riotous behaviour by visiting fans will be tolerated, unless permission is received in advance (please file applications for violent rioting in triplicate). Any such behaviour undertaken without appropriate permission will find those responsible immediately transported back to Ordinary Reality.

2) Direct travel from ordinary physical reality to the Dreamed Realm is impossible. Some 72 hours before your away qualifier in the Empire, a team of Archregimancy [Eastern Orthodox Christian] monks will arrive in your home stadium and construct a portal to the Dreamed Realm. You may then use this to travel to the Empire at your convenience.
Τί ἐστιν ἀλήθεια?

FORMATION / FORMACION

STYLE OF PLAY / ESTILO DE JUEGO
Style Modifier: +0.93
Description: Being a defensive stalwart in his playing days, Casimiro Coro slowly reduced the attacking tendencies the national team had during their unpublicized matches. Thus, the mentality of the current squad is more of a balanced side with some semblance of aggressiveness and attacking mentality retained. Coro usually starts with a 4-2-3-1 with both Makarova and Osa acting as side midfielders but can shift as wingers since they can play those positions as well, transitioning to a 4-2-1-3 formation.

Most likely to:
Score penalties: Heguy, Mojica, Solorzano
Score a direct free kick: Mojica, Bidaola, Heguy
Concede a penalty: Arguello, Antunez, Mendinueta
Booked for short temper: Heguy, Osa, Pabon
