TRR is mad and concerned that this will take away some/a lot of their identity, with them being the only sinker and being the ejection-free zone for over 2 decades. Now that there's more than one sinker, it makes TRR feel a lot less unique. And yes, we're also mad because we weren't asked or informed about any of this and are now forced to make decisions on a whim.

What happens if a player gets ejected and banned from all three sinkers?

And shouldn't this be under Gameplay?

Just tested this with Gloomstalker Assassin. It's similar to when you're banned from all three revivers and revive your nation, you get randomly placed in one. When Gloomstalker Assassin was banned from Perdition, it ended up in Outback.

From what I can tell, it's been established that, if you're banned from all 3 Sinkers, you can still be kicked into one despite being on the ban list (including if you're banjected from one Sinker when you're already banned from the other two). Important question that, as far as I can tell, we don't yet know the answer to: does this mean that you can be kicked to a sinker you're banned from even if you're not banned from the other two? E.g., if Testlandia is banned from TRR but not from Outback or Perdition, can an ejection still result in them being sent to TRR?

This is incredibly befuddling, to say the very least. I'm not a resident of TRR, but I'm just so confused??? It seems like a strange change, especially without warning, or, from what I can tell, consultation from TRR's residents. Odd.

This elicits an absolute and unadulterated "Hmm. Well that happened." from me.

Nations banned from all three sinkers:

Gloomstalker Assassin (ban order: TRR --> TO --> TPoP, got sent to TO)
New Slatos (ban order: TO --> TPoP --> TRR, got sent to TO, was ejected from TO to TPoP)
West2 (ban order: TRR --> TO --> TPoP, got sent to TRR, has so far been banned from own region and ended up in TRR twice and TO once)
My Test Nation (ban order: TPoP --> TRR --> TO, got sent to TRR)

I wonder if admin did this in part for the purpose of cementing the current uses of "Restorer" and "Sinker". I'm still kind of befuddled by the terminology change.

The Ban Plinko seems to have some sort of magnetism from what I and some others have seen from ejections already.

Following up on this with some more empirical data of 205 ejections from one region (Thank you Aav for helping);
64 went to The Outback
70 went to The Plains of Perdition
71 went to The Rejected Realms

While the earlier data I had showed some bias to Perdition, it appears with a larger sample size to be closer to random. Please feel free to look through the ejections in The Corner Office to dig deeper into this mechanic.

Point was to provide distinction between the region types - as two different region types with very different functionality had the same name. Initially neither was to have Sinker, then both were to have Sinker (and TRR was a catcher), then people with dirty minds ruined catcher so they ditched it and just gave TRR the sinker title.

Edit: Also ftr great change, solves the mute complaints issue. Now if someone doesn't like a post, either they can report it, suppress it, or kick the player, like every other region.

This is going to sound somewhat scatter-brained, but if possible, I'd also like to hear from Admin why this was done. I'm not complaining - weakening the flow of nations to TRR is not a bad thing per se, nor is its newfound vulnerability to more permanent coups and invasions - but I'm unclear on what warranted it. If TRR was too large, will we be seeing new Restorers as well? If this was done to encourage invasions or coups, I'm mildly confused as well - strategies such as ejecting before TRR updates are out of the window, making the possibility of a GCR coup succeeding even smaller due to influence mechanics, and eject-raiding TRR has gone from a hypothetical to worthless. I suppose time will tell if the new Sinkers themselves are considered worthwhile enough to attempt 'standard' coups like one might see in the Sinkers or Feeders, but if that is the direction admin is looking to take it'd be nice to know - the real key there lies not in more GCRs but in weakening the influence fortresses that have been built there, to my mind. So again, I'd be curious to hear of the reasoning behind the change.

I find it genuinely funny they gave them both a RMB. It would have actually solved the problem to have one not have an RMB or capacity to have embassies and just say if you're banned from all three you go to the one you can't RMB post... But this just sets up for troll volley ball where they get booted from region to region maximizing the attention and reaction they get. LOL

With the addition of these fellow "Sinker" regions, the Rejected Realms has been given a glow-up and along with its fellow Sinkers is now finally able to eject and ban nations.

That's quite the incredible way to paint this.

A few questions have been raised, both in this thread and elsewhere, so hopefully this response addresses them:

Creating additional Sinkers was on our agenda for a while - it's not a recent idea. The team had concerns over the size TRR has reached at times - it tends to fluctuate (looking at you, TWP) and on occasion has got to a point where its size is a potential problem. (Note that while Chicken Overlords is also far larger than ideal, 1) we don't have an immediate way of addressing that, and 2) the nature of the region, being heavily puppet flooded, means it has less of the kind of activity that causes problems in such sizeable regions.)

We felt there was sufficient player activity amongst ejected nations to be able to support viable communities in a couple of additional regions, which also benefits a stated objective of diluting GCR power, in this case by spreading it further between regions. We felt there was capacity to accommodate two additional Sinkers, who also help to act as a buffer against mass ejection sprees causing size problems in Sinkers, as outlined above.

As a further benefit, this has allowed us to introduce ejection + banning to Sinkers, giving them a way of managing their communities that they haven't had in the past. While this has limits - nations can be ejected back to them, we felt it was a significant improvement on the previous situation, and a total of three Sinkers was the appropriate balance of this and needing to ensure they could maintain viable active communities.

We don't have plans for further Game Created Regions at this point, whether Sinkers or any other type. While the Restorers are relatively large, we're not convinced there's a sufficiently large community to support further Restorers - the nature of refounded nations means they're less likely to get involved in the region they refound in.

We have a policy of not announcing new GCRs in advance, which has been the case since the very start. While it's inevitable that those with a gameplay background are best placed to take control, we like to give GCRs the best possible chance to develop organically, rather than being carved up in advance. As a result, the introduction of new GCRs cannot be discussed outside of the site staff beforehand, and we couldn't make this post or the News page one until the new regions had been up for a fair while.

Without wanting to belittle the coding efforts behind this, the introduction of the Outback and the Plains of Perdition was a reasonably small project that we felt we could introduce without hindering other ongoing projects, and which would provide immediately realised gameplay and site management benefits.

Seems to be some kind of fallback in operation. I expected that if a nation was banned from all three sinkers, they would be sent to a restorer, then a feeder, and then ultimately a frontier, where it would take forever to get banned from all of them.
