Hey Joe and Ja'marr. It is not too late to tell the Bengals to go fuck themselves and demand a trade to a team that will give you an offensive line and a functioning coaching staff or front office.

They still don't have a functioning offensive line? It's been an issue ever since their Superbowl run and now they want Burrow turned into an Andrew Luck?

Yep I am going to kill Lou Anarumo and Zac Taylor I swear to fucking god. This team is not a contender in any way. Honestly I'm not even confident were going to win against the fucking Panthers. Daltons probably gonna throw 400+ against us.

Not just survive but do somewhat better than usual. It's like you're running for Governor in a close race. Gotta narrow those margins in those tough opposition counties you lose anyway. Winning this thing takes a little strategy which fits into bettering your previous performances. Your need is simply to improve on your first half performances each week by winning a few extra games, then play the board wisely in the second half as you usually do. Fending off the other top players. Oh, and let's all hope the site doesn't crash a few weeks before Christmas. :)

“Never believe that [fascists] are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The [fascists] have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”

Yeah, this is right I think.

A few more words for the wise on competition... If a player can seize the lead by mid season and your competition is basically three or four players then you can mostly forget about the others unless one gets real hot late. That is crucial in playing the board, that and having a lead. Identify your best competitors, let's say there are four for the sake of the following discussion.

Next, identify the pick 'em type/coin flip sort of games each week and wait to pick them last. If your best competitors all like the same team you can either go with them and maintain your lead another week or try to gain a game on them all. You might want to know something they don't to pick against all 4. It they're split half and half between the teams go with the team the closest players in the standings pick. If you win, half of your best competitors drop another game behind and you lose none to the other two but you do reduce the # of players close by half which aides your situation the next week. Over the last eight or so weeks this strategy if carried out correctly can build up a tough lead to overcome. There are other permutations along these lines which y'all can think on. Don't want to give it all away, but the basic ideas are here on playing the board. :)

One other thing, other good players probably know their own team better than you do and vice versa. Look through their eyes. When they pick against their own teams, consider that strong advice on that game. Or vice versa when the opposite occurs. For instance, last week Zurk was the only player with PHI over NO. He should know something as a solid Eagles fan. And although the Eagles pulled it out in a tight one, he was correct and gained on every player. So watch for that, although some caution as certain players never pick against their own team which costs them games over the season and will cost them if close to first at the end ...this is, unless they're a chiefs fan.

There are other smart ways to play the board, some of which i likely haven't thought of yet. But remember, putting your picks in early in a week and not adjusting to the board can cost you games in the standing late in the season when opportunities to make a comeback are dwindling. And if a player is of a less competitive nature and just plays for the fun, then God bless them too and enjoy.
