Head Manager
Miguel Egar
Age 42 - Miguel Egar is King Godard Truffaut's cousin. Miguel is the person that got Truffaut interested in soccer in the first place, so rightfully he would get the head manager position when his cousin finally made the sport legal in Eurentus.
Assistant Manager
Amagio Pasie
Age 28 - Amagio Pasie found most of the talent on the team and brought them to King Truffaut's attention. He claims to be the personal agent to most of the players.

Starting XI
GK-Claude Vinas
Age 29 - Vinas has been a sailor his whole life. He currently captains his own ship called the "La Maria" for shipping up and down the Rio Churcho. He was recruited for the team with no soccer experience whatsoever, but his strong upper body and quick reactions should make him a great goalkeeper.
DEF-Alejo Diadago
Age 14 - Alejo is a descendant of the 3rd King of Eurentus, Salvador Diadago. He isn't exactly a great athlete, but his name will surely lead a huge following of fans into the sport.
DEF-Amaia Garcia
Age 30 - Garcia is the oldest member of the Eurentus squad, but he is the most experienced one by far. He blew King Truffaut away with his skills at try-out that he learned while playing the sport "underground" for almost ten years now.
DEF-Cacho D'am
Age 17 - D'am comes from a small, poor family residing in Villa Calline. He's been a farmer most of his life, but the promise of good pay for his athletic talents led him into Villa D'eau to try-outs for the Eurentus national team. Cacho's large figure combined with his impressive endurance will surely prove to be an asset on the Eurentian defense.
DEF-Sharil Montero
Age 26 - Montero has been playing soccer underground with Amaia Garcia for almost six years. He impressed the King with his superior speed and tactical know-how in try-outs.
MID-Luis de E'nua
Age 29 - Luis de E'nua along with Chacho Alejo and Nickolo Williams comes from the far south of Eurentus in a village situated in the middle of the Viventus desert. Their isolation from any real laws allowed them to grow up playing the sport in public where he and his two companions developed impressive footwork and fancy moves to please the crowd.
MID-Chacho Alejo
Age 25 - Chacho Alejo is by far the star of the Eurentian midfield as of yet. At center midfield he orchestrates his teammates and is generally the key play-maker. Chacho is also known for his excessive use of the move he calls "The Rainbow" in games. He has been named the captain of the team for the 2nd Ebyrian International Open Cup.
MID-Georgio Petite
Age 13 - Georgio Petite is certainly an interesting find. One of the few "mixed bloods" on the team, he shows a natural ability to dribble a soccer ball. The boy's father played for a club team in The Resurrected Republic of Clandon before immigrating to Eurentus.
MID-Jose Tevek
Age 15 - From one of the few Russian families in Villa D'eau, King Truffaut saw it fit to add Tevek to the team to boast as much variety in nationalities as possible. His skills are better than any other Russian that tried out, but they fall short when compared to the rest of the team.
FWD-Nickola D'que
Age 12 - D'que by far the youngest player on the team. He has an uncanny ability to weave through defenders on set pieces and score goals. Besides that, he's not the most useful player.
FWD-Nickolo Williams
Age 25 - Nickolo Williams along with Chacho Alejo and Luis de E'nua comes from a small village in the Viventus desert. Like his companions, he has a habit of showing off and trying to score flashy goals. Although his antics sometimes get him distracted, he is by far the most talented goalscorer on the team.

Substitutes
GK - Amaia D'que
Age 15 - Amaia is the older brother of Nickola D'que. His abilities as a goalkeeper are far from anything to brag about, but already at the age of fifteen he is as tall as most of the players in their twenties. He promises to make a good keeper in the future.
DEF-Claud E'uas
Age 22 - Claud lacks the general stockiness that the starting defenders boast. Despite his smaller size, he is quite strong and extremely good at positioning.
MID-Tomas L'ue
Age 15 - Tomas L'ue is the nephew of head manager Miguel Egar. For no other reason than that was he chosen for the team.
FWD-Jean le Harmanio
Age 17 - A fully Spanish boy, legally changed his name to a French one. He is an aspiring politician in the French Rights Party, and a personal favorite of King Truffaut. This kid seems to impress at everything he does and is determined to win a starting position.

Dear Edgar Rossman, CEO/Founder of Crown Arch Energy Industrial Corp,

The King has personally reviewed your case and has approved your company to advertise alongside the sporting events at all four stadiums. During the duration of the event you will also have permission to advertise throughout the entire city of Villa D'eau in return for the universal standard dollar payment of $10,000,000.00. Thank you for your interest, and we hope you will find Villa D'eau a suitable business venture.

Sincerely,
Claude Rues, Head Advisor for Business and Economics to the King

Albundania set to begin title defense

The group draw for the second Ebyrian International Open Cup (EIOC) is up, and Albundania are in with a few familiar faces. Well, OK, when I say a few, I mean Balida. Despite their decline from international football Balida are always one hell of a fight in football. We're sure all of you lot are looking forward to that match. The other teams Albundania, in Group A, are drawn in with are Westmeadow Tavern, Militaria1000, Cakistan, and Hossaim. Theoretically, Albundania should be able to advance through the group with little problem, but we'll see how that goes. Not much else to say about the group draw, so lets move onto the Albundanian roster report.

The starting roster for Albundania will look extremely familiar to a lot of people except for two exceptions. William DeCosta, Illinopolis' center-back, will be making a start in place of aging Egaigus center-back Joel Nike, bringing to a close the longest international career of any Albundanian defender. Also a surprise inclusion on the list is Lisa Jacoby, who will be replacing Alexi Webb. Lisa Jacoby looks to be the first female to ever start for Los Azuelen, and we wish her good luck. Also, Kurt Winger has gotten the job many have requested he get, and he replaces Jesus Silva, who has surprisingly been dropped from the squad completely. Another slight chance, Ryan Theriot and Marco Ulbrich have switched sides in the back, with Theriot now playing left-back and Ulbrich playing right-back instead of the reverse.

However, significant changes were made insofar as substitutes, with only one substitute from the World Cup remaining on the bench, the others having been dropped or promoted (IE Kurt Winger). Let's quickly go through our list of substitutes:

  • Clayton Sellman, 24 year old keeper for Arskanskigrad Utd.
  • Elias Mill, 23 year old Left-back for Lemanskigrad Utd.
  • Paul McAdams, 27 year old center-back for Arskanskigrad Utd.
  • Luke Seal, 29 year old Left-Mid for Lemanskigrad Utd., originally from Albundia City Utd.
  • Evan Liszeo, 19 year old Center-mid for Lemanskigrad Utd.
  • Evan Lawson, 20 year old striker for Chicago Nuevo SC

Oh, and Jose Ricardo returns after the trip to the World Cup Finals to manage the squad, despite interest from Lemanskigrad United's manager and legend Martin Simpson.

More to domestic news now, rumors are starting to circulate in the AMFL's grapevine now that transfer window is open. The most talked about one is that Chicago Nuevo SC is prepared to buy Thomas Crutchfield from Arskanskigrad United for around $450,000 dollars. The other, not rumor really, but piece of transfer news is that Q Inieta has announced he wants out of Illinopolis FC. Surely, he'll be an expensive buy, but God knows every team could use him.

Anyways, we're signing off so you can watch the Albundanian U-21 team battle it out against Akarka's U-21 team in the Dazaarki Regional Tournament. We'll show you the schedule in the credits. Goodbye, and enjoy the game everyone.

M-Day 1: Albundania VS Hossaim
M-Day 2: Cakistan VS Albundania
M-Day 3: Albundania VS Militaria1000
M-Day 4: Balida VS Albundania
M-Day 5: Albundania VS Westmeadow Tavern

After his sacking he was planning to move back to The Circus Islands but was forced to make up for lost time so now he does 28 Intensive training sessions-a-week, but the M1FA could not deny his great Managerial ability so appointed him as Assistant Manager.

The Sporting Gazette

We're back in Ebyria, and this time we will win!

Well, we might. Yes, the national team are off on yet another escapade to someplace in the NSverse, still looking for a trophy to win without home advantage. This time, they're in Ebyria (again) for the 2nd Ebyrian International Open Cup in Eurentus (near Balida, we're assuming), and last time they were in Ebyria, they finished in a surprising 4th spot, losing to then-co-hosts Balida in the semi-finals before being wiped from the pitch by Osarius in the Third Place Playoff. Now they're back, and looking to improve on their first performance by 3 places. The team itself is largely unchanged from the team that went to Balida/Albundania, with about eight players retired/exiled from the original team.
As for groups, here is how our group (Group C) stands:
MD1: BYE
MD2: Megadia (prediction: 2-0 win)
MD3: Northpaddock Inn (Did we mention that we brought the inner Commonwealth along with us?) (prediction: 3-0 win)
MD4: Eurentus (prediction: 2-1 win)
MD5: Kazzoria (Again? Are they stalking us?) (prediction: 2-2 draw)
All of these matches are scheduled for around midday EST (which we presume stands for Eurentus Summer Time or something similar), which means we have no idea when to turn on the TV to watch the matches, which by the way are on ELTV Sports 1 and ELTV Sports HD (Eastfield Lodge matches only), and for the three Commonwealth nations, CTV will have all three games live on some channel. Highlights of all the day's games will be on ELTV Sports 1, straight after the news at 10 (pm probably).

Team to play Megadia on MD2: Starting XI
Economic Left/Right: -5.01 (formerly -5.88)
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.31 (formerly 2.36)

After their run from attempted murder, Harry, Ben, Jane, Finn and Jarki had found something out. Sports was legal again and it was worse, the players were now posh snobby Aristocrats. They had to stop them getting to the Ebyrian International open. If the won it their efforts would be proved pointless and they should just go home. It seemed as if this man who was chasing them was going to make this job a lot harder for them.

He was heading through the desert in his Jeep. He was utterly terrified. He was asked a task by the king, and so far he had failed. The king could have him killed now, so he needed to hide until the task was completed. His pockets were full of plastic explosives and a pistol. The dust was getting in his face, but he couldn't be bothered to pull the roof up. It had been a long day for him and he had only just managed to find where his targets were located. He didn't care who he had to kill now, his life was on the line and that to him was all that mattered. He took a drink of cola out of his pocket. It was warm and syrupy, but that didn't matter now.

He arrived in Poliko in a safe house later that evening. He was going to live for one night with what the local gangsters called "the grandmother." This was an odd nickname because she was a man. He had committed more murders than any other man or woman ever in the history of Kazzoria. But he only did it for the fun of killing. When he was away from killing he worked as a self-stacker in the local Morrisons, and during the day he was a very nice guy. That is why he is called the grandmother. He also bakes cookies on a regular basis.

Osarius national football team for the 2nd EIOC

After much wrangling, debating, and bitching... it has been decided that Benedict di Corradi will manage the team. The debates arose after Elissa Barca-Carthy's request - behind di Corradi's back - that she be permitted to take a team to the EIOC. Upon hearing about the tournament, and remembering his experiences in Ebyria fondly, di Corradi superceded his female counterpart. While the OFA had considered allowing Barca-Carthy to lead, they soon realised their hands were tied by the terms of di Corradi's contract, which states that he "shall manage a representative national team in all international competitions entered, unless unfit to do so". Barca-Carthy will, however, remain on the coaching staff.

The squad itself contains a lot of Flying Sparks graduates, and so it consists mainly of under 25s, but there still remains some familiar - and highly experienced - faces, including the all-time national team appearance record holder (Benni Watson), and record goalscorer (Rene Wilson-Ouaddou).

#01 - GK - Jasveer GULATI, 24 years old - Firewood City [ 16 caps / 0 goals ]
#12 - GK - Peter CLARKSON, 24 years old - AFC Hollybrent [ 5 caps / 0 goals ]
#23 - GK - Marco CORRADINI, 21 years old - Cymrwell FC (on loan) [ uncapped / capped at U21 ]

The exclusion of Albert Mariana - the natural successor to the now-legendary Orlando Florian - might surprise some, but in truth, this is merely a continuation of the OFA's seemingly increasingly prevalent youth transitioning policy. That's basically a fancy way of saying they want to play the kids more often. Jasveer Gulati will be first choice, but should he be unavailable at any given time, there is little to seperate Marco Corradini and Peter Clarkson. While Clarkson is the more experienced, Corradini has impressed more in recent times, and is coming straight into the tournament off the back of a moderately successful Di Bradini Cup run.

#02 - RB - Flavio AQUILANI, 23 years old - Trothwands Evolution [ 35 caps / 0 goals ]
#03 - LB - Georgina CARSLEY, 26 years old - Greeningham City [ 37 caps / 0 goals ]
#04 - CB - Carlo ROMANO, 21 years old - Pythons (QPM) [ 7 caps / 0 goals ]
#05 - CB/SW - Reiss RYERSON, 26 years old - Firewood City [ 66 caps / 6 goals ]
#15 - CB - Harvey DECKER, 21 years old - Grasshoppers Turic [ 1 cap / 0 goals ]
#16 - SW/CB - Katherine HOLLAND, 22 years old - Cymrwell FC [ 6 caps / 1 goal ]
#17 - R/LB - Gennaro CRISCITO, 20 years old - Rapid Hearthlands [ 14 caps / 0 goals ]
#24 - RB - Federico AGNELLI, 20 years old - Violia FC [ 1 cap / 0 goals ]

An average age of 24 for the starting defenders, and the bench averages at just under 21... sound risky? But when you consider that three of those four starting defenders have over 30 caps for the national team, and in total they have almost 150 between them... suddenly doesn't sound so risky. The backups are a versatile bunch. Harvey Decker is known for his Gidds-like tackling and intensity, while Katherine Holland is one of the classiest, most potent attacking defenders in the King's League today. The fullbacks are both in the Amir Ali mould, in the sense that they can competently attack and defend, which works well with di Corradi's tactical setup.

#06 - CM/DM - Ayanna BARCA-CARTHY, 21 years old - Real Jraxville [ uncapped / capped at U21 ]
#07 - LM/LB - Ashley WATSON, 31 years old - Trothwands Evolution [ 49 caps / 4 goals ]
#10 - R/LW - Benni WATSON, 32 years old - Firewood City [ 157 caps / 34 goals ]
#11 - CM/AM - Gabriel RUSSELL, 26 years old - Firewood City [ 41 caps / 11 goals ]
#18 - RM - Enrico MARTELLI, 21 years old - Cymrwell FC [ 21 caps / 5 goals ]
#19 - LM - Rodrigo BELTRAN, 21 years old - Burningham City [ uncapped / capped at U21 ]
#20 - R/L/CM - Amrit GILL, 24 years old - Dynapolis United (UNI/OSR) [ 9 caps / 1 goal ]

The exclusion of Hope Peranio following her antics in Rejistania during the Cup of Harmony leaves a gap in the midfield. Fortunately, the under-21s captain and rising star Ayanna Barca-Carthy has been able to step straight in. Some have suggested family ties may have swung opinion in her favour, but logic tells us that she is a di Corradi type player. He likes his players combative and offensively aware. Barca-Carthy is exactly those things, and a proven leader. The wings pick themselves, with the Watson brothers now running the show for di Corradi, despite their advancing years. The elder Watson will be looking over his shoulder at times, knowing that wonderkid Enrico Martelli is hot on his heels, looking to oust him from the national team, while younger bro is in a similar predicament, fending off both Rodrigo Beltran and the increasingly versatile Amrit Gill. Notable here is the lack of a true defensive midfielder in the Osarian ranks. Could be a risky strategy for di Corradi to rely on Barca-Carthy. Its hard to believe he has that much faith in a female player...

#08 - ST - Keon TINTO, 29 years old - AFC Hollybrent [ 49 caps / 29 goals ]
#09 - ST/LW - Rene WILSON-OUADDOU, 30 years old - Firewood City [ 109 caps / 46 goals ]
#14 - ST - Dante SPERANZO, 21 years old - Utica United [ 24 caps / 12 goals ]
#21 - CF/ST - Rudy ATKINSON, 32 years old - Dynapolis United (UNI/OSR) [ 31 caps / 7 goals ]
#22 - R/CF - Rhianna JOHNSON, 27 years old - FV Harmonie (PSC) [ 13 caps / 3 goals ]

Easily the most experienced position age-wise, di Corradi is largely relying on proven goalscorers. Keon Tinto - now recovered fully from a serious knee injury - has plagued the King's League in the past calendar year, while Rene "The Wren" Wilson-Ouaddou is simply the most feared striker in the country. The backups consist of livewire Dante Speranzo, who is looking like the next big thing as far as strikers go. Also, two old faces, Rudy Atkinson returns to Ebyria for what we can only assume will be his last international hurrah - perhaps a bit of sentimentality there from di Corradi, knowing Atkinson still maintains a sizeable fanbase in the region - and Rhianna Johnson, who has impressed in fits and starts at international level. In the absence of Calvin Harris, Atkinson's huge frame provide the target needed in certain circumstances...while the absence of Harris' clubmate, Luke Woods, means Johnson is given a final chance to prove she has what it takes to be an Osarian international.

The team looks set to line up in di Corradi's trademark 4-5-1/4-3-3, with provisions to see a classic 4-4-2 setup, if The Wren or Russell plays the trequartista a la Roberto Cassetti. Benni Watson retains the captain's armband, with Reiss Ryerson named as his deputy. He also retains free kick and penalty duty, with Rene Wilson-Ouaddou filling in for him in those roles. Ryerson will take long free kicks, to exploit his impressive passing range.

The team's style seems to be cemented at a +2 modifier (despite the relatively greater success of the under-21s using a +1) and a dressing room source tells us that di Corradi will - as always - send the team out with the instruction that "anything goes, just don't kill anyone".

Repulaea's First Steps Show Promise!

Our newly formed Repulaean national team took their years of dedicated training and practice to the pitch, today, at the opening match day of the 2nd Ebyrian International Cup. Playing at La Stadio de Norte in Eurentus, Repulaea faced off against Southpasture Hotel. In a heated match, the end score was tied up at 1-1. Despite this, Marco Bell, the team's diehard manager, proclaims his steadfast belief that the Repulaea's performance shows promise for future matches.

"They performed admirably. stated Bell in a press conference with UBNN after the match, Their overall performance was better than I could have hoped for an early jumpstart to our national football team. Our team played aggressively in bits but an overall improvement must be seen through our defense. Still, I must declare that Repulaea held her own in her first match to some good effectiveness. I'm proud of our team's accomplishments, though we have a lingering and undeterminable road before us yet.

Today's game was also predicted to draw in one of the largest numbers of Repulaean television viewers in history with nearly 88 million viewers nationwide. That number is expected to climb over the duration of the cup, if Repulaean results come out favorable.

The game at La Stadio de Norte, today, was one of attrition on the part of Repulaea. The Repulaean team focused primarily on the degradation of the opposer's defense long enough for a clear offensive route to appear. Striker Richard Dethew's maneuver through the centerfield accomplished a feat to that end. Elegantly weaving in and out of the Southpasture's blazing cannonade of defensive fire, Dethew managed a goal with his trained left leg, narrowly evading an offside call. This stroke of luck and skill seems to have Repulaea yearning for more. The excitement of the first game has spurred nearly 1 million Repulaean "pilgrimages" to Eurentus. for the upcoming matches. Only time will tell if the EIOC's newest entrant will be blessed with future victories and a headline truly worth reading.

Look out for full UBNN Sports coverage of our next match at Estadio de Truffaut: Repulaea Vs. Sibirsky. Don't miss it!
