Kanzlian National Team arrives in Tumbra, expectations highest it's ever been says Vassilis

STORY OF THE DAY – SPORTS

HESHAM, TUMBRA – The Kanzlian National Team arrived in Hesham, Tumbra where they will play their Baptism of Fire 84 games. The 23-man squad landed on Hesham-Lakewood International Airport and was immediately greeted by a small crowd of Kanzlian supporters who made the trip earlier.

As the squad made their way through the busy airport our correspondent Joachim Brauer spoke briefly with Vassilis van Coevorden, the man tasked to lead the team to victory. "The expectations for this selection are the highest they've ever been," the 49-year-old head coach stated. "Our preparations at home have been extensive, I believe we have the talent to show the world something here."

Team captain and star goalkeeper Zaouane Mido shared similar optimism stating to correspondent Hans Limter just outside of the team hotel in Hesham, "We're here to compete. We're eager to showcase our football on the international stage. The boys are excited and optimistic."

The Exiles will be making their debut appearance in the Baptism of Fire tournament. Their group stage matches are set to unfold in the coastal Tumbran cities of Lakewood and Hesham. The twin Tumbran cities, while separate in name, are well connected with one another and should make the trip easier for any Kanzlian supporters staying in either city.

Throughout the tournament, the Kanzlian National Team will reside in Hesham just by the beautiful coast. The hotel which they will stay in has made special preparations for the National Team, a gesture the players and staff greatly appreciate. The VVK (Kanzlian Football Federation) has also arranged for a dedicated training facility just a short walk away from the hotel. Fans will be delighted to hear that every training session will be open to the public.

SCANDAL ROCKS KANZLIAN CAMP: YOUNG PLAYERS CAUGHT SNEAKING OUTSIDE PAST CURFEW

DRAMA

HESHAM, TUMBRA – In a shocking turn of events the VVK issued a public statement where three of Kanzlia's players have been caught red-handed in a brazen breach of team protocol. The incident which occurred in the early hours of this morning has left the fans questioning the team's discipline and have needlessly add to a mountainpile of questions Vassilis van Coevorden will have to answer in the pre-game conference.

19 year-old goalkeeper Camaro Mulders and 23 year-old Greg Hilson were spotted by locals in a nearby fast-food joint named Pete's indulging themselves with Tumbra's fried chicken fast food icon. The young duo in a clear disregard of caution even asked for a local to take a picture with Pete's beloved mascot. The image has gone viral on Kanzlian social media, much to the embarrassment of the VVK.

But the real bombshell comes from the third and last offender, Maurice Bouma. The 24 year-old midfielder reason for his late-night endeavours has not been mentioned in the VVK's public statement. Eyewitnesses report seeing Bouma leaving the team hotel in a black hoodie around 1100 hours, but the purpose of his detour remains unknown. Speculation is rife and we can't ignore the fact that Bouma has been unhappy with his contract situation with NSFC, the team he currently plays in. Could it be that Bouma have a secret meeting with Tumbra's Hesham FC? A talk with his agent to terminate his contract? Or perhaps indulge himself with an escort? We (legally) can't say with definite confidence.

However, our sources close to NSFC have dropped hints that all might not be well in Byradu. Bouma's relationships with the club has been strained in recent months with the club refusing to renew his contract. Bouma with one year left in his contract is expected to leave this summer despite the fact that he himself (reportedly) wants to stay. Could this heated situation be taken advantage of by Hesham FC? The team is definitely the next step forward in his career but we're uncertain if Hesham FC even wants to acquire a Kanzlian player or needs a defensive midfielder. No official statement have been issued by Hesham FC.

All three players have been fined 5,000 Gelders for breach of team protocol. They are likely not to feature in the opening match.

“The nerves are getting to us all” - Wruck on the Blue Cats’ debut campaign

Ahead of the national team’s trip to Hapilopper, Soren Howe sat down with Katzestadt Rovers forward Drake Wruck to talk football, expectations, and why one Abersee band may be key to national success.

We are days away from Katzeburg’s first ever international campaign in the Baptism of Fire, travelling to fellow Esportivan country Hapilopper for their first three matches in international football. With a recently started national league mid-way through, expectations are tempered to say the least. But how are the nerves within the squad?

Drake Wruck is a man who so far, has taken the nerves within his stride - netting 12 goals in 12 games so far this league season, he has found form at just the right time as the side heads to Hapilopper. But how is he feeling about the first ever campaign?

“Terrified, if i’m honest!” Wruck laughed. “There’s a lot of honour being part of the first ever international squad to represent our nation, and I know that Becka [Haberkorn] has done a really tough job building out the team to give us the best possible chance of success.

“I think the nerves are getting to us all, as we want to do our best but given we are heading into the unknown it’s tough to say how we will fare - I’ll take a point at this stage!”

With a heavy selection from the nation’s capital of Katzestadt, Wruck will at least be joined by a number of his teammates for the first campaign, with four other members from the side making the final 22 - Faithe Colbert, Elicia Morton, Heilwig Courtney, and Vera Horsfall.

“It’s reassuring many of us within the squad come from the same club - not just us at the Rovers, but from sides like Katzestadt AFC and Axmund United as well,” Wruck said.

“It gives us all a familiar face to talk to and share this journey with, which we can hopefully take back to the club and use as we push on over the rest of the season.

“I do feel for the players who don’t have that safety net and are joining the team by themselves, like [Refeld’s] Jim Comstock or [Penntop’s] Brigitte Ball - especially as they are younger members of the squad, but to her credit, Becka has been fantastic about building one cohesive team atmosphere which has welcomed them with open arms.”

So how is the squad preparing for their opening clash against Revida at Hapilopper’s Capital Stadium?

“Some of the team are focusing heavily on the football,” Wruck said. “Practising corners, free-kicks, passing drills. Owen [Levitt] and Ry [Whinery] I don’t think have taken a moment off the pitch since we got together.

“Others are trying anything to calm their nerves, and I think I fall in that bucket! I’ve been listening to a lot of Count Avon - a band from Abersee which I managed to catch playing while on an away trip to Inverhaven - and their lyrics have been a nice calming influence on me ahead of the campaign.”

Well, in the words of Count Avon, Katzeburg are “leavin’ this world behind, and heading out on the road tonight” for the lights of Hapilopper. But it’s fair to say that fans of the Blue Cats will be hoping as they “drift into the vast cosmos” of international football, they have some idea of where they are going - hopefully, to bring the trophy home.

Late surge sees Katzeburg to historic first victory

“Well, that’s one way to calm the nerves,” joked Katzeburgian national manager Becka Haberkorn after a historic night of firsts for the Blue Cats following their 3-1 win over Revida in the opening game of their Baptism of Fire campaign - but what a disaster it was shaping up to be.

Joined by a travelling contingent of just over 4,500 fans who have made the short trip over from Katzeburg to their Esportivan neighbours in Hapilopper City’s Capital Stadium, the Blue Cats made their international debut in stunning fashion - going down a goal within the opening 15 minutes.

With Revida making the most of their opening chance, Katzeburg struggled to break back into the match, with a fine chance from Barenwold midfielder Tilman Cummings the best chance of the opening 45 for the Blue Cats, firing just wide with a speculative shot from distance on the brink of half-time.

As fans entered the half-time break, a quiet hush fell over the Katzeburgian travelling support - maybe they shouldn’t have entered international football. Was it too soon? The national league was still in its infancy and not even fully professional - had they jumped the gun?

With an opening flourish of the second half seeming too similar to the first - with Revida creating a couple of half-chances, and Katzeburg unable to break the backline - a change was needed, and Haberkorn turned to her bench in need of a miracle.

Elicia Morton replaced her Katzestadt Rovers teammate Faithe Colbert in the 67th to provide some more options in transition, while Lambert Niles - Axmund City lead-scorer - was pulled off in the 77th minute to be replaced by cross-town rival Jaxxon Johns from Axmund United.

But the breakthrough would come from the substitution of Emery Nelson five minutes later, with Inverhaven City’s Meriel Arkwright taking the field, and suddenly Katzeburg found themselves able to spread the play wider and stretch Revida to breaking point.

Two minutes later, a long throw-in from Arkwright found the head of Johns, who could only knock it onto the feet of Cummings in the centre of the box. Wading through a sea of Revida defenders, Cummings fired a shot off, only to be blocked. But the play was not done yet. Katzestadt Rovers forward and leading scorer Drake Wruck fired a first-touch shot with the loose ball, slipping past a handful of defenders and into the back of the net. 1-1.

The Blue Cats went wild - Wruck had scored the side’s first ever international goal and levelled the score late on. Was it a classic all-timer goal? No - the ball struggled to roll into the back of the net with the slow speed Wruck had hit it with. But it will no doubt go down in Katzeburgian folklore as the historic first of many more goals for both Wruck and the Katzeburgians.

Wruck would not have to wait too long to nab his second however, and five minutes later a long ball fired up from Owen Levitt in the backline found the striker just outside of the box. Pulling the ball back quickly as Johns cut wide to draw away a defender, Wruck fancied himself from range and fired. A curling shot snuck into the top left corner past the Revida keeper and suddenly the atmosphere inside Capital Stadium changed.

It was 2-1 to Katzeburg and the small travelling crowd went wild - from looking down and out to pulling ahead right at the death, the Blue Cats had pulled something marvellous out of the bag.

But the game was not over yet, and Revida would turn the ball over quickly after the resulting kickoff, allowing Levitt to fire yet another long ball up from the backline, this time finding Arkwright on the left wing. Cutting inside and with Wruck a few paces ahead of her, Arkwright turned inside one defender, then a second, before firing a low shot just past the tips of the diving keeper to bury the ball into the bottom right corner. 3-1.

Fans were stunned - at pubs across North Katzeburg, celebrations ran rampant, with reports one bar on the banks of the Cuomo River ended up with numerous benches in the water due to the celebrations getting out of hand.

The third goal all but ended the game, with Revida unable to recover from the late sucker punch which stemmed from three Katzeburg goals in the final ten minutes. Just three minutes later the full time whistle blew and cheers went up from the Katzeburgian end - those who attended had just seen something special, and something which may just spark excitement in the sport in the young nation for years to come.

Haberkorn’s message to the team - ‘Just keep believing’

Katzeburg manager Becka Haberkorn’s post-match interview fixated on the tail end of the match and the dramatic conclusion, but Haberkorn puts the result down to hard work and “a little bit of luck with the subs”.

“As the first ever national game, the nerves were through the roof,” Haberkorn said. “This is a team which has never played together before, a team which has by and large never been out of the country, and a team which we had very little idea how they’d perform out on that international stage.

“That definitely showed in the opening half and that early goal from Revida - our passing wasn’t up to scratch, and the nerves clearly affected the players.

“At half-time, I had just one message to the team - just keep believing. We had been good in sections, it was just getting used to the scene and the stage we are all experiencing for the first time.

“Our second half really got us playing our game, and Drake [Wruck] was brilliant up front leading the line, and heavily deserved those two goals.”

Can Katzeburg go all the way? “I think it’s a bit too early to say that,” Haberkorn laughed. “Let’s just see where the next game takes us - who knows? Maybe we got very lucky.”

Tennant - ‘A win which will have Katzeburgian’s expecting’

Analysis from Rick Tennant from Goal! on KBC.

There is no doubt that this result will go down in history - a first ever win, a first ever goal, and a first ever point in international competition.

But will Katzeburgian’s be expecting the side to lift the title? Maybe. After Haberkorn said the side’s nervy first half was down to a lack of familiarity and getting to grips with the grand occasion, questions will be asked as to whether it’s a one-off or a worrying sign of the future.

I’m choosing to believe it’s a one-off - the side looked clinical in the final moments and on their day could cause a lot of strife for teams, but the Baptism of Fire is not an easy competition to win - Katzeburg have a long way to go before they can be considered favourites, but today is a welcome start towards that trophy.

The Kronbia men's national football team faced difficulty in traveling to the Federal Republic of Tumbra. This was due to the small budget of the Football Association in Kronbia. In fact, the team almost apologized for participating in the Baptism of Fire 84 due to their inability to travel until the team’s official sponsor, Estrella sportswear, intervened and covered the national football team mission’s expenses. football in general faces a problem due to the lack of funding from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as football in Kronbia does not receive the same amount of praise as sports such as basketball and baseball. Also, team players are poorly paid, which forces them to work in addition to playing football. Football to be able to live, when we can see when football players are able to practice sports in a professional way that allows them to focus only on football.

Scores will be edited into this post.

In case you missed it:

AN IMPORTANT BEGINNING TO THE BAPTISM OF FIRE
LIVE ON ISN NOW

It's the 3rd of March for Edsmons, and the 16th of July for these Nationstaters.
We are here today, at Warner Hall Park in lake Sprague, Hapilopper for the Edsmon game against Avisora.
The stadium is packed, and commentators Verctor Suiruiz and Sture Kelmosaar will be commentating for you ISN viewers.
Let's get going.

BAPTISM OF FIRE 84 - MATCHDAY 1
WARNER HALL PARK, LAKE SPRAGUE
EDSMONTIK VS AVISORA
10:00PM/22:00 - 7/16/24

PRE GAME
"Oe, Oe, Oe Vdesmon! Alber Schek Vdesmon! Viktor Haben Sturen Icht Liber! Oe, Oe, Oe Vdesmon!"
Just past the entrance gates as well as outside were hundered of thousands of Edsmons, chanting the anthem.
Meanwhile, coach der-Ghavyr had his chat with the players.
"Tonight, we make a difference! Tonight is the night, we sing Oe Vdesmon with the fans, and push through! Everything tonight, will mean everything for the future!"
The players erupt in cheer, and begin their walk alongside the Avisora Penguins.
This game was about to begin.

KICKOFF
"Edsmontik will be playing in a 4-3-1-2 position, and Avisora will be in the 4-2-3-1."
After the anthems, Edsmontik had won the coin toss.
A quick handshake, and Bervaign would walk up to the ball.
Kickoff.
Bervaign passes down to Reuhans, who as usual, sends it backwards.
"It's now with der-Suiozkeafter."
A little bit of waiting, and then Mavkrav der-Suiozkeafter lobs it far and wide, reaching Ghreksbvy.
"It's a nice touch from Ghreksbvy, and he's running past those defenders..."

FIRST HALF
The cross didn't work out, as the Avisora fullback had deflected it off for a throw in.
Ghreksbvy sent it to Stuero, for lobbed it quickly over to Bervaign.
The powershot rocketed through, but the "Awwww"s kept coming after the shot slammed into the crossbar and over for a goal kick.
The 10th minute was approaching, and Edsmontik had already moved up for another attack.
After the deflection by Ayala, the Avisorans were quick to make a counterattack.
Cruz ran up and lobbed it all the way to Sanabria, who then sent it to their star striker.
However, Sandoval's run was interrupted by Javarqa, who managed to clear the ball.
"It's all attack this first half..." says commentator Suiruiz.
Everything seemed to calm down, as the Edsmons shifted a bit, continuing their wing play and possession-based tactic.
By the 23rd minute, the Penguins had another attack on the Eagles.
Sanabria had tried to run it up but tripped over Kizani.
There were lots of arguing with the Referee, and in the end, Kizani got a yellow card for arguing.
"A little harsh, I believe. However, you can hear the crowd booing up there." said Kelmosaar.
Over the following minutes, the game stayed calm. Until the Avisoran goalkeeper made a save, leading to a corner.
Aespana lined up for the kick, motioning to the defenders and calling Fotserr over.
Just Fotserr had lured some Avisoran players.
Without any more time wasting, Aespana sent that kick.
And exactly at the 26th minute, that ball was headered into the top corner, by der-Suiozkeafter.
"GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!" The commentators screamed, the stadium went wild, as der-Suiozkeafter pumped his fists into the air and celebrated.
There was clearly nothing Bocachica could do about that.
Unfortunately for the Edsmons, this lead would be short lived.
Sme passing around, and in the 33rd minute, Sandoval caught the ball in an onside position, and shot it.
Lankiv saved, but a volley off the rebound as well as Javarqa not getting to the spot in time to clear it showed a 1-1 score.
Like with the Edsmons, the stadium erupted, and the commentators screamed.
Hope was not lost.
Confidence was still there, and Bervaign lined up for a volley off of Ghreksbvy's cross just minutes later.
But Bocachica caught it, meaning possibly no new lead until halftime.
Passing and passing and more passing, and soon, the Edsmons saw a final opportunity for the half.
Kizani, up to Aespana, with a beautiful cross to Bervaign, a pass to Stuero and-
"GOALLLLLLLLLLLLL!" The stadium exploded in loud cheering, as the many Edsmons went wild.
Stuero, in the 45th minute, right before halftime had given them a lead.

HALFTIME
"Great job, great job." der-Ghavyr said. "We may be in the lead, but we can be too confident yet, they could easily equalize."
And he wasn't at all wrong, the game could go in any direction when the exhaustion pushed in.
A quick talk about tactics, how they would play, and what the Avisoran team was good and bad at would start them up for the next half.

SECOND HALF
Everything began well, with the Penguins keeping some possession over the first few minutes.
But ever so slowly, they smashed up against the Edsmon defense, sometimes being able to trouble Makanvakt and Kizani.
The push was string and the ball continued to be passed.
"Oe, Oe, Oe Vdesmon! Alber Schek Vdesmon!...."
The fans sang over and over, not afraid of anything.
Avisora had some clear chances, but Lankiv had managed to save them.
The time ever so quickly passed, and eventually, minute 60 was on the way.
Avisora would get a chance to equalize.
Zafra would send it to Perez, who quickly passes it back to Pacheco.
A quick run, and soon, der-Suiozkeafter has the ball through his legs.
Javarqa can't stop it, Lankiv runs out, but the shot curved right around and into the net.
The Avisora fans erupted, louder than before, as the commentators shouted, and the system announced the goalscorer.
Pacheco ran to the corner, jumped up and over, celebrating.
Avisora had equalized.
2-2, in the 59th minute.
Hope was not lost for the Edsmons.
In the 60th minute, Edsmontik brought on Utravak for Bervaign, and Brandondt Reichsteur for Kizani.
Just a minute later, Utravak had sent the edsmons from defense to attack, pushing harshly and opening up space.
"Utravak. He passes to Reuhans to Stuerooooooooooo- GOALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!"
A trivela, right around the rushing Bocachica.
Edsmon fans erupted, waving their banners and flags, as the 61st minute had brought to them a new Edsmon lead, saving the score at a 3-2 mark.
Stuero slid along the ground, saluting the fans, and shaking hands with his teammates, thanking them for the assist.
He had scored a brace.
Everything eventually quited down once the Avisoran players grabbed a corner off of Reichsteur.
Right then, Avisora substituted in de la Renta, Vega, Barerra, and Urruita.
Edsmotik brought in Syverark, Ystermakt, and Recihkt, meaning that they had now no more substitutions.
The corner took place, and Javarqa had won the header, slamming it away from the penalty box.
Recihkt had received it and began running.
But the Avisora defense was a problem, causing Recihkt to lose the ball not too far into the Penguins' half.
The Edsmons stayed strong, as the 70th minute was nearing.
A clearance deflected, and the ball go to Recihkt.
Instead of shooting, he sent a through ball to the center, surprising Bocachica, and the player who got to it first was none other than Utravak.
The shot rocketed through, and fell into the opposite corner of the Avisoran goalie.
"AND A GOAL!!!!!! THERE IT IS, TO CLOSE TO DOOR, MAYBE, JUST MAYBE THIS IS THE ONE THAT WILL SHUT AVISORA OFF!" Kelmosaar screamed.
The stadium went wild, as Utravak ran from side to side of the pitch and motioned for the fans to sing Oe Vdesmon.
The Edsmon fans sang it, loud and proud as eventually, the game started back up again.
The rest of the game was mainly defense for the Edsmons, backing Ystermakt into a CDM and centering the wide midfielders.
Minutes passed by, and no chances were seen.
Avisora couldn't pass Ystermakt, and with the now reinforced defensive positioning, they probably couldn't pass anyone.
In the 78th minute, They'd get another chance.
Only for the finesse to be foiled by der-Suiozkeafter, who cleared it right off the line after Lankiv deflected the main shot.
For the following minutes, it was nothing but Edsmon fans singing "Oe Vdesmon" over and over.
And then, after a few chances and a lot of passing, 2 minutes of stoppage time were added on.
During the last play, Avisora failed to get the ball past Aespana, and the whistle blew.
*TWEET, TWEET, TWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET*
The sweet beginning went to the Victorius Eagles, 4-2.

DISCIPLINE WILL BE RESTORED SAYS VASSILIS IN PRE-GAME CONFERENCE

BOF84

LAKEWOOD, TUMBRA – As Kanzlia gears up for their highly anticipated debut in the Baptism of Fire tournament, Vassilis van Coevorden faces the brunt of a scathing pre-match conference. Whilst ordinary questions on tactics and squad selection were asked, much of the questions were asking about the controversy which sparked last night involving three players who were caught sneaking out during curfew.

When asked about the incident, van Coevorden remained tight-lipped about specifics. "We are aware of the situation and it has been dealt with internally," the manager stated. "Our focus now is solely on tomorrow's match against Vaishnavaria."

Pressed further on potential disciplinary actions, van Coevorden added, "Discipline is a cornerstone of our team ethos. I can assure you that appropriate measures have been taken and will continue to be enforced and restored. We cannot allow distractions to derail our preparations. It'll disappoint an entire nation."

Van Coevorden then shifted the focus to the upcoming match, expressing confidence in his squad's preparation. "Vaishnavaria is a good and worthy team to challenge. We're aware of their offensive capabilities and have made the necessary arrangements to counter them. We've worked hard to be here, and the team is ready for the challenge that Vaishnavaria presents. Our goal is to make a strong statement in our debut appearance."

When asked about the starting lineup, the manager remained coy, stating only that selections would be based on form and fitness. He did, however, confirm the absence of Camaro Mulders, Greg Hilson, and Maurice Bouma from the game. As part of their punishment for sneaking out during curfew.

As Kanzlia prepares to step onto the international stage, all eyes will be on how they handle the pressure both on and off the pitch. Vaishnavaria is a team Kanzlia can not sit back on, they'll punish The Exiles for any mistakes they make in the wings.

The match kicks off at Lakewood City Stadium, with fans eagerly anticipating Kanzlia's Baptism of Fire debut.

Superb Kanzlia victorious in their debut, Sylverio simply sublime

STORY OF THE DAY – SPORTS

LAKEWOOD, TUMBRA – Kanzlia had an electrifying start in their Baptism of Fire 84 campaign, securing a commanding 4-0 victory over Vaishnavaria at the Lakewood City Arena.

The star of the show was undoubtedly the youngster Sylverio van Coevorden, who netted a brace to set Kanzlia's dominating tempo for much of the game. His first goal came in the 23rd minute, courtesy of a brilliant through ball all the way from the defensive line from his brother, Ardentius. Sylverio latched onto the pass which caught Ross Newman offguard and he calmly slotted the ball past Vaishnavaria's goalkeeper Giovanni Marcilo.

Sylverio's second goal, assisted by Jos Svilar in the 54th minute was a testament to Sylverio's clinical finishing. Svilar's clearance-turned-cross somehow found Sylverio on the left-wing. He controlled the ball with his chest before cutting inside slipping past Ross Newman and shooting straight to the bottom right corner of the goal leaving Giovanni Marcilo no chance to stop it.

On the 58th minute Kanzlia's defence faced their greatest threat throughout the entire game when Vaishnavaria's electric winger Zakaraya Kar dribbled past Jos Svilar before shooting it straight to the goal. Zaouane Mido was able to prevent it going in but failed to catch the ball, Vaishnavaria's Nathaniel Grant ran past Ardentius van Coevorden to shoot from the rebound. The shot was thankfully weak and Evert van Selm was there to make a goal-line clearance to deny Vaishnavaria a goal. A clearance that would spare the blushes from Zaouane Mido. In an argument between Vaishnavarian players with the ref arguing the ball was in, Zakarya Kar was handed a yellow card.

Kyle Russo picked up a knock after he collided with Sharp and was forced to be subbed off in the 61st minute. Post-game reports suggest the injury was minor. Sylverio would come off for Angelo Wolf in the 65th minute which makes it his 11th game in a row without a full 90 minute appearance. 5 minutes later on the 70th minute, Nick Hesselink was replaced by Reiner van Coevorden.

Reiner would make an immediate difference. With barely a minute after coming on, Rayane Konadoe's pass found the cleats of Reiner and he puts it past Giovanni Marcilo. He was immediately celebrating with his father and his brothers, savouring the moment with his family and rightly so. This is his first goal for Kanzlia.

The final goal of the evening came in stoppage time with Rayane netted himself a goal after Evert van Selm delivered a pinpoint cross from deep. Rayane, unmarked on the far post, made no mistake to head home the 4th goal of the night.

Sylverio van Coevorden's brace earned him the Man of the Match. An award fully deserved for the 1899 Szbedansk winger.

After the match, Kanzlia's head coach Vassilis van Coevorden expressed his satisfaction and pride with the team's performance. "As a manager, I'm incredibly proud of the entire team. They executed our game plan as I told them to and showed great discipline throughout the match," he began. "But I can't ignore the fact that as a father, this victory holds a special place in my heart."

A proud father, Vassilis was photographed slightly tearing up, "Seeing Sylverio score those two goals was fantastic. He was simply sublime, as we all know by now. He's been putting the effort in training and its wonderful to see it pay off on such a big stage." His voice cracked up as he continued the praise, "And for Reiner dear.. what can I say? It was his first goal for his country and I couldn't be more proud. I nearly lost my voice cheering with him when we celebrated together."

Vassilis was quick to return to his professional gaze adding, "Of course, as their manager, I'll be pushing them to keep improving. But tonight I hope the Kanzlian media, as the father of these boys, can forgive me gloating my son for their contribution to the game."

An image is released to the public with the entire team celebrating in the dressing room. Special attention to Reiner as he was given a rough patting on the back by every member of the team, a tradition in Kanzlia's camp if they score their first goal on a winning game.

GOALSCORERS:
Sylverio van Coevorden 23'
Sylverio van Coevorden 54'
Reiner van Coevorden 71'
Rayane Konadoe 90+1'

A Show To Remember!

Postby Restresas » Tue Jul 16, 2024 10:38 am

Lisade 23rd, 1012:

Indiana: "Team... take a deep breath... and show those bastards what we truly are made of."

As the teams take the pitch in Trenton Park, it isn't like a Tumbra homefield pitch... but with the sky blue and white all over the stadium, it was like a home game for Restresas in a neutral field, despite both teams being from Esportiva. The flags came out and the opening ceremony of the Baptism of Fire concluded with the teams exiting onto the pitch for the national Anthems. For Restresas... a deep breath and a calming aura later, they have a fire in their souls that they want to contain and rule over... while Osterhalten looks to keep their momentum from their quarterfinal run in the last CE, CE38. The atmosphere was a fever pitch, as the two Esportiva sides, the only two sides from that region in the tournament, did battle.

For Osterhalten, they not only kicked off first, but they dominated possession to start, with there being chance after chance for the Osterhaltens to not only score, but to blow out the squirrels. It would indeed be the Osterhaltens who scored the first goal, only 7 minutes in, and Cesar Haselhurst would silence the pro-Restresas crows with the "shhh" taunt, something that would not be appreciated by both fans and players of Restresas. Perhaps they were too overboard in their fury, considering the fact that Mark I. Lindsay would get a yellow in the 15th minute for a very poor tackle, so it would be Haselhurst to take a free kick... and it curved past the wall and it would be an easy goal for the Osterhaltens, putting the straits as DIRE heading into the 20th minute. A nice pair of moves by Lane Sanchez in the 25th minute to get past Phineas Ellsworth and Timothy Pendleton at the midfield would set up a beautiful pass to Pablo Albu, who would capitalize on the pass by shooting it well beyond the penalty box and it would go in, giving Restresas hope, and the fans became glued out of their seats in cheers as Restresas got back into the game. This would be as far as they go however, as by halftime, it would be 2-1 in the favor of Osterhalten, something that was expected by most Esportivan media.

At halftime, Wesley showcased a tactic called the full press, which if done right, would absolutely neuter the Osterhalten attack, something that was desperately needed due to how easily the Osterhalten offense gaped through the Restresian defenses. As Juan Albu, the leader of the defense spoke on this plan, he said that "If we follow this through... the defenders will be much more involved in the offense as well... and we could use that considering how in our friendlies against Hua and Banija, we were fucking GASSED offensively by the second half's midway point... We need to execute this to perfection if we have ANY chance of winning this game." Coach Wesley agreed with Juan's assessment, and pointed out that is the reason why he wanted to run the full press. "Get the defense tightly together and allow our defenders to get more involved in the offense, that's what this tactic should be about boys." As the Restresians exited the locker room, they were ready to show the Osterhaltens their very own adjustments to win the game.

The full press was oppressive when Osterhalten stole the ball early on in the second half, and it would be the defensive captain, Juan Albu in the 54th minute who would make the most of this full press and not only snatch the ball that Gabriel Oliver was holding onto in the Osterhalten half, but score the goal that would tie the game at 2 to 2, something that most Esportivan journalists noted as something that could be a pretty big upset. The full press continued to plague Osterhalten's progress as the 5 shots on goal they had in the first half turned to 1 in the second half, showing that this is the playstyle that Restresas should have had all game long. The 68th minute, after Sloe Sanchez intercepted a pass attempt by Sepp Fischer, who was trying to get the ball to Leon Sylvestre to try and open up the Restresian press, led to a counterattack which would be eventually turn into a goal, one that was headed in by Lane Sanchez off an Indiana Pablo corner in the 70th minute to put Restresas up 3 to 2. The rest of the game was Restresas playing monkey in the middle against the Osterhalten defense, something that couldn't be stopped due to how gassed the Osterhalten team was, despite making some solid substitutions in the second half. The 87th minute on the other hand, was a slipup by Aidan Quickenden, one of Osterhalten's substitutes in the game, and Restresian Substitute Tio Howard would put the game to rest off of a very simple strike in the penalty box, putting Restresas up by 2 goals, and leaving a majority of fans in the site of the final for this BoF, Trenton Park, happy with the outcome.

After the game, Wesley was asked about the nerves that his team had opening the tournament, and Wesley, the ever-honest manager he is said simply that: "Nerves? We don't have those. We just play hard, play with speed, play with power, and play with heart to get wins. We don't play by nerves, and I hope that we will continue to play like we have no nerves because today's win over a regional rival was one where we played our gameplan to perfection, nothing more. And that's all I have the time for today, thank you for the time."

Promising Start

The match began with great tension among the Kronbian players, as today they were playing the first international match in the history of Kronbia. The players tried to build attacks, but their tension caused many mistakes and lost scoring opportunities. The match continued to be draw until the 87 minute, when Ismael Gabriel sent the ball to Alfredo near the border of the penalty area, which he aimed at the goal, but the goalkeeper blocked it, and it rebounded, so Ovidio Florencio received it and fired it towards the left corner of the goal, scoring his first goal for Kronbia internationally and the first victory in the history of Kronbian football.

Ismael Gabriel is a midfielder in the Costa de Palmeras Sharks team. He is 35 years old. He has been playing football for 15 years. He is considered one of the most important players in the Kronbia men's national football team and won the Best Player in Kronbia award Five times. Meanwhile, Ismael works as a shipping worker in the Eastern Port in Costa de Palmeras City. For a living, Ismael dreams of achieving the Baptism of Fire 84 to be the first international championship for Kronbia before his imminent retirement, due to age and an old foot injury problem that was not treated well and still hurts him from time to time.

The Martian Independent Republic 1 - 0 New Jarwen
Jowling 24'

Spiders Win In A Boring But Important Game

In their first ever international soccer match, with 2,000 fans having traveled to cheer on the Spiders, the Martian Independent Republic took home a much-needed win against New Jarwen. The game was largely decided by one shot - one that came off the right boot of Rohan Jowling and went past the New Jarwenian goalkeeper into the net. For the remaining hour of play, the Spiders played what was in essence keep-away - stopping the New Jarwenians from getting any chances, even at the expense of there no longer being any opportunity for the Martians to add to their lead. The defense, led by Calvin Intrangen, let Henri Enwye rest easy for most of the game.

There's another thing we have just touched lightly on, and that's that the Spiders are playing their first ever matches. When asked about nerves, manager Potsiri Russell had this to say: "We are playing as if it's a bunch of friendlies in a row, with each game having an impact, yes, but we don't need to worry about the next game. Against New Jarwen, we got what we wanted, and if we can get a win against Vaishnavaria, our game against Kanzlia will truly be a friendly."

Up next: a game against a Vaishnavaria team that was just handed a 4-0 drubbing by Kanzlia, but is better than the scoreline says. Be wary of an 'upset' (although I hesitate to use that term with two unranked teams), but a win will clinch the Spiders a spot in the knockouts.

Sylverio overhyped says pundit Johan Letos, Bouma over Sharp adds pundit Avdrey Kristen

STORY OF THE DAY – SPORTS

LAKEWOOD, TUMBRA – In the aftermath of Kanzlia's convincing 4-0 victory over Vaishnavaria, Centraalsports pundits Johan Letos and Avdrey Kristen shared their insights on the team's performance providing a critical analysis of The Exiles performance.

Viktoria Ibsia legend Johan Letos raised eyebrows with his assessment of Sylverio van Coevorden. "Yes he scored two goals, but let's not get carried away here," Letos remarked. "Sylverio still lacks consistency over the 90 minutes. He's talented, sure, but the hype this boy is getting is uncalled for."

Avdrey Kristen ex-technical director of 1899 Szbedansk meanwhile focused on Vassilis midfield selection. "I was surprised to see Sharp genuinely struggling with this Vaishnavaria side," she commented. "He struggled to get into the tempo of the game and misplaced several passes, often completely putting a halt to Kanzlia's flow. I'm doubting whether he's fit enough to start at this level."

Kristen continued, "The midfield lacks the dynamism and creativity we know this selection is capable of. I know Bouma isnt available for selection today but I do think Vassilis should start him in the next game. He's much better under pressure and moves around faster too."

Centraalsports match ratings as analysed by our technical panel.

1. Mido (GK) - 7.0
Solid when called upon, could've done better holding onto the ball but generally reliable.
2. Jos Svilar (LB) - 7.5
Reliable on the left and provided an assist for Sylverio. Tracks back often.
3. Ardentius (CB) - 8.0
Solid in the back, couldve done better manmarking. Superb on the attack and provided an assist to Sylverio.
4. Bagheria (CB) - 7.4
Solid in the back, covered much ground and superb in defending the corners. However did make several avoidable fouls. Lucky he wasnt carded for it.
5. Wouter (RB) - 6.9
Good at covering the right wing of the defence. Made key tackles but often found himself late during a counter attack.
6. Evert v. Selm (CDM) - 8.5
Dictated and bossed the midfield. Crucial during the transition and assisted Rayane Konadoe's goal.
7. Sharp (CM) - 6.3
Dissapointing performance, looked jaded for most of the game. Made severalmistakese and was lucky it didnt lead to any goals.
8. Trouw (CM) - 7.1
Connected well with Wouter and Evert during the game. Holds the ball for much of the game but fails to threaten the opponent's goal for the entirety of the game.
9. Sylverio (LW) - 8.9 MOTM
Two goals, provided several chances. All around very good performance but subbed off early again.
10. Rayane (ST) - 8.0
A constant threat in the box. Scored a goal and provided an assist.
11. Hesselink (RW) - 6.6
Struggled to make any significant impact.

Substitutes:
- Wolf (for Sylverio, 65') - 6.5
Brought much-needed energy in the left wing but couldn't match Sylverio's impact. Irrationally shoots when better options are available.
- Reiner (for Hesselink, 70') - 7.4
Immediate impact. Holds up the ball well but passes back too often.

Avisoran defeat in Baptism of Fire debut
Image
Image AI-generated.
16/7/24 - Lake Sprague, Hapilopper

The Avisoran national team played its first international match in the first matchday of the 84th Baptism of Fire, but the Edsmon Eagles spoiled their party in a convincing 4-2 victory. A brace from Maartin Stuero and goals from der-Suiozkeafter and Utravak, sealed the win for an Edsmontik team that displayed great football.

Upon arrival to the stadium, manager Pedro Valencia gave a few words regarding the feeling in the locker room prior to this big match: "Nerves can only be expected before a huge match, and this is the biggest match yet in Avisoran history. Before we go out, I will remind our boys that there's no pressure here and they all should do what they've been doing since they learned to kick the ball, I'm looking forward to a competitive performance from us."

It was early dominance for the Eagles, with an early shot going straight into the crossbar, the Avisoran bench letting out a sigh of relief as the ball went out for a goal kick. Edsmontik didn't take their foot off the gas, with Avisora's only chances coming from counters which were easily handled by the Edsmon defense. None of the counters were particularly dangerous, but the Penguins managed to get under Kizani's skin, with the defender seeing the yellow card after arguing with the referee.

Avisora's Bocachica was doing a good job, organizing his defense, cutting crosses and making a 24th minute save. The corner conceded would be crucial, with Aespana sending it right into the path of der-Suiozkeafter who skillfully headed the ball into the top corner, away from Bocachica's reach. The Penguins had their work cut out for them now, but will they find the way to break down the Edsmon defenses?

Just 7 minutes later, veteran Julio Sandoval hit one from the outside of the penalty box. It was a beautiful save, but Sandoval was first to the rebound and the ball finally went to the back of the net! Avisora had scored their first international goal! Unión Deportiva de la Costa and Julio Sandoval had written their names into the annals of history with a 33rd minute goal, making it 1-1.

Once again, the emotions would be short-lived, as a fantastic buildup from the Edsmon attack created spaces in the inexperienced Avisoran defense. They allowed a cross in, with Bervaign controlling the ball for Stuero to deposit in between the sticks. It was a crushing blow as Edsmontik took the lead just seconds before the half time whistle.

The half time analysis talked about how playing without possession would tire the players out quickly, and how tough it was getting past the Edsmon defenders. Avisora started the second half with possession, it seemed like perhaps the Eagles were falling back to keep the 2-1 lead. For 15 minutes, the Avisoran boys sieged the Edsmon area, with their goalkeeper Lankiv making several key saves. The team managed by Dav der-Ghavyr showed tactical discipline, stopping the impotent Penguins time and time again. With 30 minutes remaining, some cracks finally showed in the Eagles' back 4, and Pérez pulled off a magical play to pass it back to star man Andrés Pacheco. It was a marvelous shot, bending out of the way of Lankiv's oustretched arms and into the net! Avisora had equalized again!

Just after the game resumed, Edsmontik launched an all-out offense, catching the Avisoran defenders napping and taking the lead once again with another goal from Stuero. Utavak put the final nail in the Avisoran coffin in the 70th minute, with Valencia making several changes but it was too little, too late for the Penguins.

Final score: Edsmontik 4-2 Avisora

We have some final comments from Pedro Valencia right after the game in the mixed zone: "I liked what I saw from this team. Today I saw grit, fight and some nice football from a team of amateurs competing in their first international game. We were at our best when in possession, but we just faced a very solid team at the back which made it almost impossible for us to score. We're not out of it yet, and I 100% believe we can make it out of the group stage."

Avisora will face Chrizenia in gameday 2, stay tuned!

North Hampton Stadium
Hapilopper

The mood in the stadium was eerie, to say the least. The West Vdaran fans that had been permitted to arrive had been rather forcefully informed to make a good impression on their visitors - and were thus filtering in quietly and sitting down peacefully, many wearing the Red Star kits which had become a smash hit. As soon as the teams emerged onto the pitch, the West Vdaran fans stood up and saluted in tandem, awaiting the nation’s proud song. As the anthems began to play, however, an expression of disgust was clear to see on the faces of the players and fans, as the stadium staff had selected the wrong Vdaran anthem. Their arch-rivals’ hymn rang out across the stadium, with players confused on what to do. Some put their fingers in their ears. Some shook their heads. Some just stood still and blankly stared. So far, West Vdara’s first international game was off to a horrendous start. However, as the game kicked off, it very quickly became evident that West Vdara had the upper hand, and goals from Alexiadis, Dimitrakopoulos and Katsaros had seen them ending the first half with a three-goal lead. This lead was extended by two in the second half as Alexiadis bagged his second goal and Christodoulou his first. Astonishingly, the Vdaran Western Territories would end their first ever international match as five-goal victors, and the ever-stoic crowd stood and saluted the players. An outstanding victory, for sure, but there was a lingering thought as to how the (accidental) usage of the wrong national anthem would be portrayed on the country’s state media…

Somewhere in West Vdara

As televisions around the country began to switch on, the transmitters over at Channel 2 Kanaria began to power on. The static left the nation’s screens, and a graphic showing the nation’s flag waving over the backdrop of Mount Teide, the country’s tallest point. People awaiting the news of how the West Vdarans performed would soon be greeted with a chirpy version of the West Vdaran anthem, signalling that news would arrive soon.

“Kalispera, comrades! As always, it is a glorious day to be a member of the Vdaran proletariat but even more so today as our valiant sporting heroes have kickstarted their Baptism of Fire campaign with a show of strength which would make even the wealthiest capitalist pigdogs tremble! This excellent result came as a show of defiance from the brave footballers, as the liberal hosts elected to play the anthem of the treacherous Vdaran Republic instead of our fair and beautiful people’s song. An insult to us all! Despite this setback, they triumphed, and we will now hear more from our very own proletarian on the prowl, our trade unionist on the trek - our man in Hapilopper, it’s sporting correspondent Stelios!”

The picture on the screen changed to that of a well-postured man with a thick, bushy moustache and a microphone in his hand.

”Sas efcharistó, comrade! Yes, it is true, a fantastic result for the Vdaran Western Territories in their very first international match. A beautiful sight! The first goal came almost as soon as the whistle had blown, when Ploufialia’s own Viktor Alexiadis caught our opponents by surprise in the very first minute - our comrades in the crowd were ecstatic! From then onwards, our men showed no sign of letting them off the hook, making pass after pass and scoring goal after goal in a show of sheer sporting strength. When the final whistle eventually came, the players huddled together and high-fived exuberantly, a show of sheer unity and strength! These are clearly real idols for the people - our people, our country, our Vdara!”

The picture reverted to the flag.

”Eloquently put from comrade Stelios. But do not fret, as there is other glorious news which awaits! For one, crop yield in Nifaria increased by 14% compared to last season, as increased rainfall and the import of mechanised equipment proves fruitful for our nation’s farmers. Glory be to those who toil to feed us! In addition, West Vdaran Air Service has announced that more flights will be available to Hapilopper due to the vast increase of demand. To qualify for these trips, comrades willing to travel must have accumulated at least 40 stamps in their Workbook, as well as a letter of recommendation from a local party official - but rest assured that requirements will relax as more flights become available. Finally, there have been reports of an explosion occurring off the south coast of Tzounonia. This “explosion” did not occur, and was merely a mirage created by sunlight reflecting off a nearby boat, which disappeared mysteriously. Thank you for watching Channel 2 Kanaria - for comrades, by comrades!”

The anthem played once more, signalling that there would be no more news that night. Strangely, the news had neglected to mention West Vdara’s next match against The Godlands - perhaps because the concept of The Godlands itself may be viewed as contrarian to the egalitarian state that West Vdara portrays itself as. Nevertheless, anticipation was high for this game, and comrades across the country hoped that the players would continue their early good form.

Los Azules Get First Win at Baptism of Fire

TUMBRA-Yesterday Los Azules opened up their Baptism of Fire campaign with a 2-1 victory over Imporia, sealing the win at the 78th minute with a goal from forward Raul Guzman. As promised by coach Enrique Vargas, it was a classic example of the Langenian national team using the Juego Bello attacking strategy to score points. In addition, at first glance it seems the game was a glimpse into what this tournament would be like for the Langenians, offering insight into their struggles and strengths moving forward into the group stage.

The first half of the game was a rough opening for the Langenians as they struggled to break the Imporian lines. Their usual flamboyant style of attacking gave way to short passes that were easily swept out by the opposing team's defense, and eventually that created a fatal mistake. Near the end of the first half, a bad pass from the midfield to the forwards allowed an opening for the Imporians to counterattack, weaving through the Langenian defenders to score the match's opening goal from a close distance to the Merida goalkeeper Eduardo Arnal. Los Azules returned to their locker room at halftime down 0-1.

Whatever Vargas said to them to the team in the locker room, it surely worked. As the second half kicked off, Los Azules seemed to be back to their old offensive-minded selves, attacking over and over again at the Imporian goal. The results were quick to pay off, as the team captain, forward Oscar Galindo, scored in the 53rd minute to tie the game at 1-1, receiving the ball from attacking midfielder Daniel Gallegos and dribbling past a defender to fire a direct shot at the Imporian goal.

As the wall of blue Los Azules supporters in the stadium stands roared approvingly at the first Langenian goal of the tournament, the Langenian team continued their strategy of repeatedly attacking with the hope of keeping the Imporians off balance. "The Three G's" of Galindo, Gallegos, and forward Raul Guzman penetrated past the opposing defenders and received the midfield's passes, with one notable moment in which Gallegos entered the penalty area and fired a powerful shot that hit the crossbar of the net.

After clearing their lines from an Imporian counterattack, Gallegos took possession of the ball to quickly dribble close to the Imporian goal in another Langenian attack. Pursued by the opposing defenders and almost pushed out of bounds he passed the ball in a cross to Guzman, who arrived just in time to send it flying into the back of the net, giving Los Azules a 2-1 lead as Guzman performed his signature celebration of punching the air and jumping in front of the Langenian supporters. Expecting a counterattack, the defenders Elvira, Montes, Ciceron, and Fraga were proactive in clearing the ball out or to the other side of the pitch when it came close to the Langenian goal, allowing for the primary attacking unit of "The Three G's" to continue pressing the Imporians.

Eventually as stoppage time can to an end, the movement of the ball ceased and Los Azules had clinched their first win in the Baptism of Fire tournament. However, despite their comeback, questions remain going forward, specifically as to why the Langenian team performed the way it did in the first half.

"I think it was definitely that a lot of our guys were anxious," said central midfielder Rafael Semprun. "This is the first time we ever play in a tournament of this kind of extra-regional level."

Team captain Oscar Galindo, one of the scorers in the match, concurred with Semprun's assessment in a postgame press conference. "That first half, we didn't perform the way we should have because simply put, we were nervous. It affected the way we played. But despite that, we came back from the brink to win, and I'm sure we'll keep it up."

When asked why his vaunted improvements to the Los Azules defense conceded a goal, manager Enrique Vargas chucked, shrugged, and told reporters, "Everything works until you punched in the face. You can't stop every attack, unfortunately. But if you follow the Juego Bello and press them, you'll put yourself in a position to win."

The Langenians will play Kronbia tomorrow.

BoF, Matchday 1 vs A Place Somewhere, 1 hour before kick off

Finally, Iris had made it to the stadium. She didn't have a car and had the misfortune of missing her bus, so she had to take the long walk to the David Coney Field. Fortunately, she had left so early that she still found herself at the stadium an hour early. Coming through some VIP rooms and up a staircase, she stepped onto the grass for the first time. Looking around, she noticed the adoring crowd in the stands. Wow, she thought to herself, ain' nobody here. She quickly made her way to the change rooms.

"Ah," Abraham exclaimed, "and there's the rest of the team." He sat on one of the benches fiddling with his gloves. Iris simply sighed. She began putting on her kit when Abraham put his hand on her shoulder. "Iris," he began, "are you ready?"

"Yeah." Despite herself, she was actually quite nervous for her first game. The idea of going 5v11 had made her strongly doubt if she was capable of keeping up.

"Good, then you’re holding Thing One."

"Wh-" and like that, Abraham began grabbing out the two meter tall mannequin from his bag and handed it over to Iris.

A Place Somewhere VS The Leafic Republic @David Coney Field

Heiru Rifu! // Hail Leaf! -----------------------------------------------

Day 1, one miserable lose. Day 2, one bad win.

Although it was a win for the Leafers, it wasn't a good win. It was just a 1-0 win, with only one goal scored in the entire match. Most likely it was because that the Leafers were balanced in both defense and attack, and that A Place Somewhere didn't play good football. Either way, 1 goal only, in the entire match.

The match started off with the national anthem of APS and Leaf playing. As the Leafic National Anthem plays, the camera points towards the Leafic National Football Team's mascot, a golden panda with a football in it's hands. And the camera pointing towards the APS National Football Team during the APS National Anthem playing.

The only goal that was scored was by Raiden Nakayama, a forward of the Leafic Team.

Now, some more on the goal: Kazuhiro, taking the ball, passes it over to LW, Sora Shima. Sora, running with the ball, past players of APS, passes it over to Raiden. Raiden Nakayama, with his speed, going past the defenders running, kicks the ball straight into the left side of the goalpost. [The goalkeeper of APS], thinking the ball was going to be kicked in the right, tried to catch the ball, but failed. As the ball goes into the goalpost, the Leafers score their first and last goal in the match. And well the first and last goal of the match.

Although nothing much had happened in the match, the energy of both teams' supporters made the match worth to watch.

A FAILED VENDETTA FOR THE PANAYENSES
Unification Stadium, Halsted, Hapilopper

Before the game, the Panayenses and the Edsmons have battled it our for who's the loudest fans in the BoF. The Panayenses have started their patriotic chants with their drums and trumpets, while Edsmons are singing the same thing too. The stadium was filled with 50% Panayenses on the left, 50% Edsmons on the right. The atmosphere is intense that in the first half they have broken the sound barrier. The first half wasn't as good as their first match, when the Edsmons scored 2 goals unto Aldovino's net. It was a neck-and-neck match. The intensity got higher when the second half arrives. When Héctor Nam was replaced by Alvarado Martinelli and scored the first goal for the Panayenses with some assist by Javier Ricalde, who scored also a goal against his teammate in Lersterviige Arkvlaken. The Panayenses hoping for a revenge but a mistake by Gallardo Morita helped the Edsmons scoring the last goal as a sign of a failed revenge. The Edsmons are shouting and mocking the fans, but the Panayenses didn't care as they sung their soul until the final whistle as the Edsmontik national team's #1 favorite song rang out the whole stadium. But a sign of respect from Ricalde and his Lersterviige teammate exchanging their shirt before going to their respective fans. "We're so close to have our own revenge!", says Martinelli. "But we did our best and hoping we would win on our last group match and qualify to the quarterfinals." "It wasn't an easy task for the boys.", says Pierini. "But we hope that our game against Avisora would qualify us to the next round." The Panayenses will face Avisora and hoping that they would qualify to the next round if they win or draw.

BRACE FOR GHREKSBVY, EDSMONTIK SHOVE THEMSELVES INTO THE ROUND OF 16
LIVE ON ISN NOW

Back here at 10:00PM, the Edsmons are ready and excited for this matchday.
Probably the most important match of them all, the Panayenses would not be joking after the friendly 4-2 loss not too long ago.
Because this, this, was the new rivalry of football. Two newbies, fighting for the title.
der-Ghavyr, the Edsmon coach, tells us on the bus in a virtual interview that he wants to meet them again in the possible final.
Let's move on, now, we are at the Unification Stadium.
Everyone's ecstatic, and reporters Don Vdesvig and Sunarm Ikzeben will be commentating tonight's match.

BAPTISM OF FIRE 84 - MATCHDAY 2
UNIFICATION STADIUM, HALSTED
EDSMONTIK VS PANAY ISLANDS AND GUIMARAS
10:00PM/22:00 - 7/18/24

PRE GAME
"Ja Ja Ja Vdesmon! Oe Bentrak Suben Vdesmon!"
The stadium is loud, filled up to capacity with singing fans.
Tonight, it's about half Panayense and half Edsmon.
The Edsmons get off their bus, and coach der-Ghavyr circles them around for a quick team talk.
"Listen here boys, today means everything." he starts "It has to be a win. Because if we draw, and Avisora wins, our chances for the round of 16 may be very slim. So, let's do it boys, let's conquer our rivals!"
The loud cheering erupts from the players, as der-Ghavyr then gets them into the line.
Tonight was going to be heated. A very, very, very heated game.

KICKOFF
"Tonight, the Panay team will be playing in a 3-5-2 and the Edsmons will be in their classic- the 4-3-1-2. I'm Sunarm Ikzeben, your ISN commentator for today's match."
Some handshakes, a bit of talking, and the coin is flipped.
The Panay win the coin flip and start the kickoff.
It's Ricalde to Nguyen, who the sends it back to Ricalde.
The possession dominating tactic began for the Edsmons, and as soon as Bervaign intercepted a pass, it started.
"It's passing, passing, lobbing and only more possession for the Edsmons here!"
But a quick mistake by Angeles would see Recihkt have a chance...

FIRST HALF
After Angeles was embarrassingly nutmegged, Rehcikt instantly took advantage.
He dribbled down the wing but didn't give any passes.
Instead, he fired a beautiful left foot trivela.
Aldovino was unable to catch it, and the ball soared into the post, bouncing into the goal.
"AN EARLY GOAL! POSSIBLY THE EARLIEST OF ALL TIME! EDSMONTIK HAS LANDED A TRIVELA INTO THE BACK THIS EARLY ON!"
It was unexpected, the Panayense fans gasped as Rehcikt ran to the corner, celebrating his early goal.
A quick at on the back, and the referee restarted the game.
This time, the Panayense would be harder to rush through.
Minute after minute, Javier Ricalde, the one and only non-Edsmon footballer on an Edsmon team, began finding holes in the defense.
Ystermakt chased him down, doing his best to stop the quick attacker.
Eventually, Ghreksbvy gets the ball, and sends a pass over to Aespana, who receives it with a quick touch.
"Edsmontik have gained back possession, what will they do here? We've seen an early goal, who knows what they have up their sleeves..."
The fans chant their respective side's songs and hold up signs and banners.
Aespana runs down the wing, and makes a strong cross over to Rehcikt, who takes a quick volley.
The shot curls past Aldovino, and into the net.
"IT'S A GOAL! However, the referees are checking something..."
For a few minutes, both teams waited for the news.
It was close, but offside. The referee blew his whistle and gave the ball to the Panayenses for the freekick.
Now, the Panayenses would have to be even more careful about the Eagles.
The kick went far, landing near Rodriguez, who took it up the field towards Ystermakt.
Ystermakt takes back the ball, and sends it over to Aespana, but at that exact moment, Rodrigues tackled back, causing Ystermakt to fall over.
*TWEEEET!*
A warning is given, and Aespana takes a freekick.
The shot is off target, landing right into Nam, who passes it up to Ricalde.
"A chance for the Panay, perhaps?"
Ricalde dodges Brandondt Reichstuer, and rushes past Javarqa.
And then, der-Suiokeafter comes in with a harsh tackle
Ricalde falls over, and so, the game is paused.
The referee rushes over and pulls out a red card.
Straight ejection, der-Suiozkeafter is out.
Edsmontik were now down to 10 players, and pretty early on. It's only the 37th minute.
It's a penalty as well, meaning the chance to equalize is big.
"Ricalde........SAVED BY LANKIV!"
With the bare fingers of his outstretched arms, he barely manages to save a down-the-middle penalty.
Javarqa clears it, and so the game continues.
Over the rest of the half, the game is as usual, passing, passing, and keeping possession.
Shots from both teams are barely saved or are blocked by defenders and the crossbar.
Not too long later, Ghreksbvy pushes forward, grabbing the ball from defender Heo, and slipping past the rest of the Panayense defense.
A quick back and forth passing between him and Stuero and-
"GOALLLLLLLLLLLL! THIS ONE'S NOT OFFISDE, GHREKSBVY LANDS IT PAST ALDOVINO! TWO TO NIL FOR EDSMONTIK!"
The Edsmon fans scream wildly, screeching as if they were real Eagles, and singing "Oe Vdesmon" as loudly as they could.
Ghreksbvy pumps his fists, does a flip, and celebrates with his teammates.
Just a few minutes later, the whistle blows. Halftime.

HALFTIME
"Super performance back there!" der-Ghavyr shouts. "We can't be too confident though, as the Panayenses could easily make a comeback."
Even just at the first half exaustion was getting to the players.
"Some of you guys are going off the second half, I want Jervanois in for Makanvakt and Kizani in for Brandondt. We have to keep our defense energized.
Stuero, get ready to take Javarqa's Armband around the 60th minute. I'm bringing der-Haans on then.

SECOND HALF
Edsmontik begins with kickoff, sporting already 2 subsitutions.
Stuero sends kickoff far back, reaching Kizani.
He then sends it up to Aespana, who passes it up farther to Rehcikt.
A cross over, and Stuero headers it.
Not always would Edsmontik score, as Aldovino was ready this time, punching the header over the crossbar.
The Panyense fans cheer, as Aldovino gets looks of approval from his team.
The game goes on quickly, with Martinelli getting substituted on at the 48th minute.
And that worked out, as eventually, The Panayenses were on the attack again.
Ricalde goes up, over to Nguyen, who sends it back to Martinelli-
"GOALLLLLLL! IT'S A BEAUTIFUL POWERSHOT, LANDING RIGHT INTO LANKIV'S NET!
Martinelli runs, pointing at the crowds, watching them cheer, and celebrates with the rest of his team before the game starts back up.
Edsmontik makes a few more substitutions, bringing Bervaign, Aespana, and Javarqa off for Utravak, Wejikaj, and der-Haans.
Now, any injuries would have to wait, no more subs for Edsmontik.
Stuero starts, sending the ball to Wejikaj, who sends a powerfull through ball right over to Ghreksbvy.
Ghreksbvy passes down to Ystermakt, who passes to der-Haans.
A few more passes are made, and then, the ball falls to Utravak.
He lines up for a shot but gets knocked over by Rodriguez.
"Yellow card, this might end up being a pretty rough game." comments Don Vdesvig.
Ghreksbvy fires the freekick, and Stuero tries at another header.
It looks like it's going in, as it passes Aldovino....
But Heo clears it off the line! What a save!
Time was ticking, as eventually they were halfway to the 70th minute.
der-Haans passes it up, but the ball lands onto Ricalde, and he starts running.
Kizani can't keep up, and neither can der-Haans, as Ricalde shoots, Lankiv's hand barely touches it-
"GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! IT'S EQUAL AGAIN, JAVIER RICALDE HAS SCOREDA MEANACING FINESSE, RIGTH PAST LANKIV!"
The stadium explodes in cheers and loud noises, as Ricalde points to his team logo and celebrates.
"Nice job, my Lersterviige teammate." Utravak says as he shakes hands with Ricalde.
"Thank you!" Ricalde respondes.
The game continues back on, with the Edsmons sweatier and more nervous than ever.
Stuero passes down to Utravak, who sends it back to Kizani.
Kizani then passes up to Wejikaj, who sends it forwards to Rehcikt.
A fake shot, and a through ball to Utravak and-
"SAVED BY ALDOVINO YET AGAIN!"
The curved shot landed into Aldovino's hands, preventing another goal and lead.
Punch after punch, the Edsmons couldn't break through the Panayense wall.
Stuero's finesses, Wejikaj's free kicks, Rehcikt's driven shots, none of it got through.
Over the next few minutes, the ball was mostly kept in Edsmon possession.
Until- another chance! Ghreksbvy grabs a through ball from Stuero, he dribbles into the center-
The Edsmon fans boo as Morita accidentally kicks into the foot of Ghreksbvy.
A yellow card, and a freekick as well.
It's the 80th minute, a goal here could end it for the Panay.
Ghreksbvy.
The shot curves around the wall...
Aldovino dives...
Impact with the crossbar...

Player of the Match - Vera Horsfall (KAT)

Woeful first half leaves Blue Cats on the precipice of exit

A shocking first half from Katzeburg which saw the Blue Cats trailing 3-0 at the break was too much to turn around in their Group D Baptism of Fire clash against Alexandrianonisimo.

Joined by a buoyant contingent of more than 6,000 Katzeburgian’s in the city’s Capital Stadium, expectations for a repeat performance and win following their opening 3-1 win over Revida quickly faded from view, with Alexandriaonoisimo drawing first blood just five minutes into the opening half.

Katzestadt AFC keeper Ry Whinery was left shellshocked and able to do very little after a quick long ball broke past the backline of captain Owen Levitt and Deena Knepp, being rounded with a simple shot which curled into the bottom left corner.

Despite dominating possession early on, the Blue Cats struggled to make an impact in the final third, with opening game hero Drake Wruck all but blocked out of the game with some tight man-to-man marking.

Things went from bad to worse for the Katzeburgians in the 23rd minute, with another quick break from the Alexandrianonisimon’s striker getting the better of Gideon Wilkins on the right hand side. Wilkins, brought into the starting XI to replace Faithe Colbert after the initial matchday, looked ineffective as a quick ball whipped by him and into the box, where it found the head of the opposing striker.

Despite a hearty attempt from Levitt in the centre of the box to nod away the danger, he was beaten to the ball, with a deflected header sailing past an out-of-position Whinery to double Katzeburg’s worries.

The Blue Cats were unable to find a way back into the game, with a third goal just on the edge of half-time - a curling free-kick from the edge of the box sneaking past the defensive wall - condemning the Katzeburgians to a disaster first half.

At the half-time break, many of the travelling contingent started to make their way to the exits - the last flight back to Katzeburg from Hapilopper City International Airport was only hours away, and the general consensus among many who had travelled would be that it would be better to wait around in security for an hour or so then watch whatever that was for a second 45.

But the Blue Cats came out firing in the second half - determined to at least close the book on a torrid performance. Lambert Niles came dangerously close to pulling one back in the 52nd minute, with a long range effort tipped over the bar, but it would take the double substitution from manager Becka Haberkorn in the 65th minute - replacing Knepp and midfielder Tilman Cummings with younger options in Erik Clarkson and Elmer Spears respectively - where the tide began to shift.

Within two minutes, Vera Horsfall snatched one back for the Katzeburgians - an incredible set piece that many would think came straight out of a training ground routine, with Meriel Arkwright curling a free kick from the right hand side of the field into the box, where Horsfall managed to pull herself free of the Alexandrianonisimo defender. Totally unmarked, the Katzestadt Rovers midfielder had all the time in the world to down-pat the ball and fire a rocketing volley into the back of the net.

But still, at 3-1 down the damage was done. Or was it?

Katzeburg continued to push, and with another substitution swapping out Niles for more youth in 16 year old Clay Marsh, the Blue Cats found themselves with more pace then they could handle. Katzeburg found themselves regularly breaking through the backline, but just unable to convert this pace into additional shots on targets - with efforts from Wruck and Marsh flying left and right of the post.

With just two minutes in regular time remaining, Katzeburg finally got their second breakthrough - a clever long ball from Wilkins sneaking ahead of the backline and finding Marsh, who was able to take the ball in his stride and slide it across the face of goal and into the bottom right corner in a finish expected of someone well beyond his 16 years.

However, it was too little, too late for an equalizer - Alexandrianonisimo restarting play and doing everything they could to hold the ball in their own half rounded out the match, running the clock out to secure all three points and deny a historic Katzeburg comeback.

‘We weren’t positive enough’ - Haberkorn

The result leaves the Blue Cats down in third place on three points, with a final matchday clash against Timlandian Federation. A win will send the Blue Cats through, a loss likely to condemn them to a group stage elimination in their maiden international competition.

It leaves the squad with quite an amount of pressure to get through on the final matchday - but manager Becka Haberkorn is optimistic of their chances.

“It’s clear tonight wasn’t up to our standards,” she said post-match. “We weren’t positive enough in the first half and that left us often exposed in the back - it’s something we clearly have to work on for the final game.

“I think the team has shown enough that we deserve to be in the knockouts, but we have to still go out there and prove it - there is no doubt the last game against Timlandian will be our big moment to show we have what it takes.”

Wolfenholm North heading to by-election? Kerr facing pressure from constituents over KFF ties

By Sam Ellis

WOLFENHOLM, KATZEBURG - MP for Wolfenholm North and current chair of the Katzeburg Football Federation Brennan Kerr has been told by a leading activist body to ‘pick a lane’, as a recall petition continues to gather steam in the area.

Kerr, who was appointed the first ever head of the national football association, has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks for not spending enough time working for his local constituents, with activist group Katzeburg First saying the MP has spent less than 24 hours in his seat since being appointed chair six months ago.

The Social Harmony MP has recently been spotted in Hapilopper, where the national side are playing in their first ever international tournament, the Baptism of Fire, and was even seen stumbling out of the Center Street Pub in the early hours of the morning following the Blue Cats’ 3-2 loss to Alexandrianonisimo.

“It’s ridiculous that the MP for our seat has spent more time drinking it up in the capital of Hapilopper than in his own constituency,” said Katzeburg First regional leader Ray Sistley.

“The area Kerr represents is one of the highest areas of poverty within North Katzeburg, in no small part due to the business dealings he agreed upon which drove investment away and up the road to Inverhaven - He owes it to his constituents to do better and pick a lane between this fanciful football dream and representing the people.”

A petition to recall Kerr has now received more than 15,000 signatures, with Katzeburg First internal polling suggesting it could reach the 25,000 threshold in the coming weeks. Should this threshold be hit, Kerr will face a by-election where he could be at risk of losing his seat to a growing Katzeburgian National Party voter base.

Kerr was contacted for comment, but KBC was informed by an advisor for the MP that he was “dangerously ill after tasting some of the delights of our Esportivan neighbors,” and that footage of him leaving the Center Street Pub was “taken out of context, along with any footage of him throwing up into a nearby trash can”.

The Katzeburg Football Federation declined to respond when asked for comment.

Victory, Then Heartbreak for Los Azules

TUMBRA-Los Azules's celebrations after their Baptism of Fire debut win gave way to despair after a painful 2-1 loss in the group stage against Kronbia, a reminder of the obstacles that lie in their way in making the tournament's knockout stage. The usual Langenian attacking style of football was once again stifled by a very tough defense, ultimately resulting in the defeat. A victory against Cattstan is now required for the Langenians to earn their spot as the runner-ups in Group C going into the Round of 16, their hopes of finishing as group winners now gone.

The first half opened up well enough for the Langenians as they began their usual Juego Bello style of play, perhaps a sign of the struggles that would plague them later on. They attempted to break through the difficult Kronbian defense, who constantly cleared the ball from one end of the pitch to another, allowing for the Kronbians to counterattack multiple times. Nonetheless, in the 36th minute of the match team captain Oscar Galindo performed a series of one-touch passes with fellow forward Raul Guzman, evading the opposing defenders to score a goal and put Langenia on the scoring board. At halftime, Los Azules returned to their locker room up 1-0.

The second half was where everything went wrong. For whatever reason, the Langenians suddenly were unable to execute their attacking-focused style of football. Once again, the Kronbian defense managed to suppress the Langenian offense, preventing them achieving any opportunities to score another goal. Eventually, as Los Azules were worn down to exhaustion from the constant failed attempts to score, a fast Kronbian counterattack in the 65th minute saw midfielder Ismael Gabriel fire a powerful shot that flew past the line of Langenian defenders and into the back of the Langenian net, tying the game at 1-1.

At the 76th minute, a similar counterattack resulted in Kronbian forward Ovidio Florencio kicking a cross from one of his teammates into the Langenian goal to take the lead at 2-1. Watching their team go from winning to losing in an instant, the thousands of Los Azules supporters went silent in shock, the excitement suddenly drained from the fans decked out in the national team's blue. Now desperate, the Langenians resumed their continuous attack in a fruitless effort to tie the game before the final whistle blew.

In the 88th minute, Langenian attacking midfielder Daniel Gallegos made a furious beeline towards the Kronbian goal with the ball at his foot, moving past the opposing defenders to roll the ball to the left of the goalkeeper. For a second, the Langenian team and its supporters were ecstatic in joy, which was quickly sucked out of them as the offsides flag was raised. Much to the horror of Los Azules, a VAR review confirmed the decision, and with only a few minutes remaining they were unable to prevent the defeat, even with manager Enrique Vargas substituting multiple players onto the pitch in a desperate attempt to replace the exhausted Langenian team with rested men. As the final whistle blew, many of the Langenians fell to their knees in disappointment, with Raul Guzman and defender Ivan Elvira being a notable sight as they knelt together and prayed on the pitch.

When questioned about the loss in a postgame press conference, team manager Vargas told reporters "You win sometimes, you lose sometimes. That's the reality of football, and even the mightiest teams run the risk of losing to smaller ones, as you know all too well from my career as a coach. It's unfortunate, but we'll learn and come back stronger."

Team captain Oscar Galindo stopped to talk to journalists as he left the stadium after the match, saying "We tried, but sadly today we didn't play our best game. I can promise you this: I swear we'll learn and use it to win."

The rest of the Los Azules squad declined to answer questions as they walked through the tunnel.

The Langenians will play Cattstan in the final match of the group stage with the hope of finishing as the runner-up in Group C.

Through To Knockouts But Restresas Wants More!

Postby Restresas » Thu Jul 18, 2024 2:50 pm

Lisade 27th, 1012, Novena Park:

Indiana: "We play the full press early, and strong against The Holy See, and we will make their play unholy as we swoop to the knockouts, gentlemen."

Novena Park, in the beautiful city of Newton, reminds most Restresians of the city of Port York, where their traditions of royalty run high in Restresas. Learning about the history of Tumbran pirates was something that many Restresians enjoyed, even coach Wesley, who brought his wife Amanda with him to the tournament, said that "Me and Amanda really enjoyed the city and we hope to be here again, it really is similar and unique for people who live in a city very similar in tone to this place." The stadium, specifically Novena Park, was filled with sky blue and white acorss the stands, all waiting with eager breath to see if Restresas can not only beat the Holy See, but move on to the round of 16 as a group winner as well. The anthem of The Holy See played with many respecting what they did last game against Hetaru, but there was little that Restresas knew heading into their match against the Red Monsters. When "Glory to Restresas!" played, the stadium came alive and it was clear that those Red Monsters were not so monstrous, as clear nerves were shown by the players, as the now tournament favorite Restresas's anthem was playing, with the entire stadium singing in the three languages of Restresas.

The first ball went to Restresas, and that's where it stayed for the majority of the game. Restresas would force The Monsters to play their game, aggressive, strong, and very much vertical, and throughout the first half, it was clear as day that the Squirrels had the upper hand. The constant mistakes by forwards Stanislav and Mikhail for the Holy See when they did get the ball, often forced by the full press defense of Restresas, allowed the Squirrels to have an astonishing 80% ball possession for the entire half, leaving The Red Monsters to have possession for just nine minutes of the first half. The shots that Restresas had in the half were often skied over the goalie's head thanks to the solid defense that The Holy See had during the half, but it was captain Indiana Pablo who would indeed score the goal that would put Restresas up for good in the 24th minute, off of a bicycle kick that went into the opposite corner that Goalkeeper Adrian was diving towards. The rest of the half was just Restresas skying balls over the net after forcing turnovers by the sloppy offense, and making The Holy See go back onto defense quickly, something that was apparent throughout the half.

During halftime, coach Wesley pointed out that the squirrels should "Stop fucking around and finish the job! They have 45 minutes to adjust to our plans, and if we fail now, we'll look like failures on the global stage!" The team, fired up, and Indiana's words of: "Let's have fun while finishing the job, they won't do much to stop this anyway." helped motivate the team heading into the second half.

The second half's kickoff was an utter disaster for the Red Monsters, as Mark Fredrick Lindsay stole the ball directly after kickoff and passed it to an open Indiana Pablo for an easy score, setting the tone quickly for the second half, and putting the game officially out of reach. Coach Wesley, looking incredibly pleased with the goal, said to his team: "DON'T LET YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS!" Something that Paul Stan Cojocar caught and told everyone about. This advice from their coach helped calm the team down after the energetic start, and the full press continued to suffocate the Holy See, as the Restresians intercepted pass after pass and turned them into counterattacking opportunities. The Holy See broke through and scored a wonderful goal in the 63rd, one that was Boris's header, only for him to be ruled offside by a clear margin only a minute later, disallowing the goal, and allowing Restresas to continue to make the pace and catch the defensive Holy See into potential chances quite often. The last big chance of the game, one done by Indiana Pablo, scored the Hat trick by putting it in "the top shelf where momma hides the cookies" in the 85th minute, causing hats to be thrown onto the field as Indiana subs out in the 86th minute after the goal, receiving a massive standing ovation in the process.

The final was three to nothing for Restresas, clinching the group and the nation's first ever knockout stage appearance in the process. The celebrations in the locker rooms were brief for the Squirrels, as Coach Wesley fires up the team again, after listening to the other games and catching something that absolutely pissed him off. "Gentlemen, while watching some of the games, I caught onto some words from the managers of both Edsmontik and Panay Islands and wanted to share them to you considering the fact that this is one of the most preposterous things I've ever heard in my life. 'See you in the final.' - Manager Utravak of Edsmontik. 'Oh, I will.' - Manager Ricalde of Panay Islands." The room stood furious, until Marcus George, the goalie of the generation, said this: "I agree coach. That is bullshit, as for them to meet in the final, they have to face us! And we are not losing to jack shit!" These words fired up the locker room even more, until Lane Sanchez brings up an interesting point... “We’re fighting for the one seed, and if we do get it… Current projections have the one seed going to... oh god… HAPILOPPER?! NO. THEY PROBABLY FUCKING HATE US!” Coach Wesley calms down the young midfielder, and states that “I don’t care if they hate us or not, we just need to win, and if that makes us villains in the host nation, so be it.”

The next match of the tournament is against Hetaru for Restresas, a foe that they don't know much about, but the squirrels plan to put them out of their misery and claim the one seed over West Vdara, who leads them in that chase by one goal.

Sylverio's late charge secures Round of 16 appearance

STORY OF THE DAY – SPORTS

HESHAM, TUMBRA – In a thrilling encounter in Hesham, Kanzlia secured their place in the Round of 16 of the Baptism of Fire tournament with a hard fought 3-2 victory over the Martian Independent Republic (MIR). The match was a rollercoaster of emotions with Kanzlia trailing from behind twice.

MIR drew first blood in the 40th minute when a pass by Bagheria was intercepted by A. Williams. The Spiders were able to deliver the ball into the box when N. Overton slotted it past Zaouane Mido. Kanzlia fail to get into rhythm in the first half with The Spiders remaining resilient in defence. Throughout the first 45 minutes Kanzlia was able to generate just 2 shots on goal.

The game burst into life in the second half with Kanzlia playing much much better. Sylverio van Coevorden, who had been relatively quiet, equalised in the 70th minute with a shot form outside the box. Just as Kanzlia was getting into the tempo, substitute Killaw restored MIR's lead just three minutes later thanks to a beautiful pass from Z. Miquan.

Straight from kick-off however, a well-rehearsed set-piece saw Maurice Bouma deliver a pinpoint cross to Sylverio past the defensive line. The MIR defense, caught off guard, failed to manmark Rayane who sneaked past The Spiders defence and finish it home after a pass from Sylverio. A winning goal would come in the 86th minute from a corner kick with a cross from Evert v. Selm finding the belting header of Christian Bagheria securing a 3-2 win against the Martian Independent Republic.

Vassilis van Coevorden when asked about the game stated, "Im incredibly proud of the character our team showed today. To come from behind twice but still fighting to secure the win is a testament to the mental strength of my selection."

"Sylverio second half heroics just shows that he's a game-changer and today he proved why he deserves to be in the selection. The kick-off setpiecce routine is something we've been training and its gratifying to see it pay off in such a crucial game."

This marks the first game Sylverio van Coevorden finished a full 90 minute match since 11 games ago. Sylverio won Man of the Match for his goal and assist.

GOALSCORERS:
Overton 40' (MIR)
Sylverio 70' (KNZ)
