I would suggest you lose the (rather cliched) stars altogether, then rotate the symbol clockwise and scale it up.

I myself would love to lose the stars, but I was really, really hoping to make a symmetrical flag, at least vertically.

I think you mean 'horizontally symmetrical'. Vertically symmetrical means the line of symmetry runs from north to south.

I understand what you mean, and in a mathematical context that would be a vertical axis of symmetry. but I am used to the opposite usage. The top and bottom are reflections of one another, with top-bottom (or NS if you prefer) being the vertical direction.

Anyway, just ditch the stars an keep the symbol in its original orientation.

It was off in many details. I've done you a fresh version of the current design.

The only design change was to reduce the aspect ratio slightly.

The top flag is OK. I think it could be improved by making the dark and light grey into black and white, or at last a lot closer. For heraldic correctness, the white stripe should be in the centre, but in this case I don't think it's particularly problematic.

For the others, you just seem to be adding random extra stripes and colours. 2 or 3 colours is ideal, 4 is acceptable, any more is pushing it.

Generally: stick to the heraldic set (White, Yellow, Red, Blue, Green, Black) except when there is a specific reason to use another. Try for good contrast at boundaries. In particular do not use yellow and white next to each other. Blue can be problematic with either green or black - choose your shades carefully. Do not use more than one variant of each colour.

Keeping something from the main flag is good, but you then should be adapting it in ways that fit the specific usage. Combining the civil and naval variants seems wrong unless you have a very good reason. Chevrons, battlements, nested areas are common for military flags, as are various bits of military hardware. Blue, waves, anchors, ropes etc are common options for naval jacks. In neither as are they essential.

The trick is to have clear and reasonably recognisable symbolism without looking too cliched. It can be hard!

Ah, thank you. I wrote the descriptions weird. The national flag is for the civil, and government use on land. The naval flag and military flags are placeholders, I was looking for advice to better replace them. Either way, I appreciate the advice.

Yellow on white : no.

Swap the white and red over, then it should be OK.
|I would also suggest making the space above & below the central square the same size as the horizontal stripe.

Mine is good enough, but I'd rather it no look so...modern and digital.

Several things...

• Firstly the central stripe is nearly but not quite 1/3 of the width. Best make it exact, or clearly a different proportion.
• Secondly the aspect ratio is unusual. If it was supposed to be 5x8 it is a little too tall.
• Thirdly the colours on the symbol: the blue and purple don't contrast well with the black background. It is also better to use as few colours as possible. All white would work. The remaining colour can also be seen as a light blue and you already have a darker blue. If you really need the extra colour, then I'd suggest making it a green.
• Finally the placement of the symbol: It looks cramped filling the entire stripe. 2/3 of the width is usually about right. The centre should then be repositioned to sit on the diagonal of the flag.

I don't see it as particularly modern. Insofar as it is, finding a more naturalistic depiction of the bull might be the way to go.

On the overall design, you might consider placing the Trishul centre left (and a bit larger), and have the bull "looking" at it.

Well, this is going to sound stupid, and I’m honestly not even sure if this is even gonna be allowed here in the first place, but I want to ask all of you guys about my flag.

I’ve noticed most of you people here giving constructive criticism about my flag. So, I’ve decided that it’s time make a change in it.

Quite a few of these have off-centred Suns.

I quite like number two, it's a good use of the same colours you have now, and maintains the sort of simplicity that is your flag's strength.
