Summary
One game to go, and it’s a three way fight for the title. Bavingtor got home wins over Marthorpe City and their rivals Binclestead Wood, but away losses to South Maishop and Loxthorpe Rovers leave them on 57 points, just 1 ahead of 2nd and 2 ahead of 3rd. A home win in their final game at Airfield Lane, vs a Gann side now relegated, would confirm Bavingtor as champions again, but nothing can be taken for granted. Garden City are up to 2nd now, with 3 wins in the last 4, but also a loss to Stanmorn. With a goal difference 17 worse than Bavingtor, Garden City must beat Kings Lunsel at home, and hope Gann avoid defeat to Bavingtor, for Garden City to win a 2nd ever title. Binclestead Wood will rue a goalless draw with Marthorpe City and hate that derby loss, a different result and they could be top going into the last day. As it stands, they realistically need a Gann victory over Bavingtor, and Kings Lunsel to not lose to Garden City. Binclestead Wood have a goal difference 9 worse than Bavingtor, and few believe a victory of 9 or more goals over Hadford Hill is likely. Of course, its not just the Super League, but a second IFCF Champions League Qualifying berth up for grabs for the current Top 3.
Loxthorpe Rovers are 4th on 50 points, an IFCF Challengers Cup Qualifying berth is secured, and realistically 4th is theirs if they avoid defeat at St Astons City. Marthorpe City are 5th on 48 points, but not yet secure in the Top 5. With Apsbrooke 6th on 46 with a goal difference 9 worse, Marthorpe City should just need a draw against Stanmorn. Lose, and Apsbrooke could be 5th again with a win over Langmere Green Rovers.
The relegation race is all but over. Carston Green are down and almost certainly bottom this season on 24 points. Also relegated with 27 points are Gann, their Super League return a brief one. Batchingtonwood Rovers have 28 points, but with a goal difference 10 worse than Stanmorn 3 points ahead in 13th, only a win for Batchingtonwood Rovers over South Maishop, a Stanmorn loss at Marthorpe City, and an improbable goal difference swing can save them. For everyone else, the final Matchday is just to settle the final scores, and maybe shift teams a little in the midtable.

Summary
Matchday 30, the final of the season, and a three way title fight ensued. The atmosphere in Airfield Lane, its final ever league game, was so tense, only matched by the atmosphere in Brickfield and Westwood Lane. Binclestead Wood crumbled early, as Andrew Dyer tapped in at close range just 3 minutes in for Hadford Hill. Servidio Sanfratello doubled Hadford Hill’s lead just before the half hour mark, and it was 0-2 at the break. Bavingtor ab Garden City both looked off par, and they were goalless at the break in their games. 51 minutes in and Michael Cole headed in to provide some hope for Binclestead Wood, but still slim. It was the 78th minute when the decisive goal came. A Bavingtor attack wasn’t fully cleared by Gann, and Jonathan Goldstone shot low from just outside the box, the ball passing out of reach of the defenders and goalkeeper to land in the back of the net. That goal meant, as long as Bavingtor held on, they were champions. Garden City and Binclestead Wood couldn’t find goals, and so Bavingtor were once again champions, their win in the end not even necessary. It was however, a dream send off for Airfield Lane and for Robbie Redfield, and the champions began celebrating again.

In St Astons City, Loxthorpe Rovers twice came from behind to get a 2-2 draw, and that meant 4th place was there’s. Marthorpe City won thanks to an early goal by Victor Collomb, even if Stan Scott-Wilson (a Vale youth team product), saw red for a rash foul. They take 5th place, although their result didn’t matter anyway, with Apsbrooke losing 3-4 to Langmere Green Rovers. At the bottom, Carston Green leave the Super League on winning ways, beating Waldster 2-0, but end up with the wooden spoon. Gann finish 15th and Batchingtonwood Rovers 14th, both returning to the Challenge League. As for the rest, it’s Apsbrooke, Kings Lunsel and Langmere Green Rovers to round out the top half. Then South Maishop, Waldster, Hadford Hill, St Astons City and Stanmorn.

In theChallenge League, North Myashop sent themselves into the playoff final with a thumping 5-2 win over Havermilly. Capton Club and Abbots Lunsel took 120 minutes to decide their game, but it was Abbots Lunsel advancing on after a signle extra time goal to face Havermilly for a spot in the final. Havermilly redeemed themselves in a 3-2 thriller, to face North Mayshop in Saints Park, with a spot in the Super League to play for. North Mayshop lead twice, but in the 83rd minute, Havermilly turned it around to lead 2-3. A 91st minute counter attacking goal made it 2-4. For the first ever time in the modern era, and the first time sinc 5BU, Havermilly were in the top flight. The 50 year wait is over. In the National League Division 1, Millsea’s surprise loss set themselves up with an eliminator with Croxlich. Millsea won tha 1-0, condemning Croxlich to a second season in the third tier. Millsea then won their narrow final over Woodbrook, to return to the Challenge League. In the National League Division 2, Oxwich Wood and Oxwich played a local derby in the lower semi final, with Oxwich winning on penalties. They got to the final, but in the end, lost 4-2 as Westwood returned ot the third tier.

Round 1 of the Flavovespia Gold Cup sees 32 non league sides join the third and fourth tier sides. Some non league sides more than enjoyed their games against league sides. FC Colosseum stunned Sandneston Rovers with a 1-0 extra time win. Third tier Boll Lake Mariners fell apart in the penalty shoot out, as sixth tier Fullertons nearby got the ticket to Round 2. Flawthorpe won away at Waldster Junction, overturning a two tier gap. Floombury United also got an upset over league opposition, defeating Maltsterbrack. Upsets were plenty, as 12 non league sides entered Round 2.

Round 2, and one result stood out amongst all overs. Sixth tier Fullertons, of the Eastern Alliance D2, got a 53rd minute goal, their only shot on target, to stun Super League Marthorpe City 1-0. Surely the upset of the season, if not the whole decade. Only two other Super League sides fell at that stage, Gann were upset in a penalty loss at Redthwaite Rangers, and Waldster lost the only all Super League match, 3-2 at Langmere Green Rovers. FC North Orbtial joined Fullertons as the non league sides in Round 3, their route was an easier 4-1 win over FC Colosseum. Fourth tier Westwood also got an upset, with a flying 5-2 win over third tier Ashland Common, finalists in 41AU. St Astons City started their defence with a 1-0 win over 37AU surprise winners, Nailwood Mills.

Round 3, and the end of the line of the two non-league sides. Fullertons couldn’t get another upset, but made Hopford work hard in the 2-3 game. FC North Oribtal took Super League Carston Green to extra time, before losing by a single goal. A few upsets as fourth tier Oxwich Wood beat second tier Claychester in a thrilling seven goal game, Abbots Lunsel felled Super League Stanmorn, and Redthwaite Rangers won at Havermilly. Plenty of all Super League ties, including St Astons City winning at Garden City, and Bavingtor defeating Langmere Green Rovers.

Round 4, the glory gets ever closer. Oxwich Wood travelled to Bavingtor, and the Super League holders looked very comfortable in a 3-0 win. Flavovespia Gold Cup holders St Astons City hammered Binclestead Wood 4-0, and last year’s runners up South Maishop needed penalties to see off Abbots Lunsel. Hopford defeated Redthwaite Rangers in an all third tier tie, and Langpool Capton upset Capton Club on penalties. 6 Super League sides and 2 National League Division 1 sides remain.

Quarter Finals, and there’s just 3 wins left for someone to lift the trophy. In a local derby, Carston Green made it look easy against Hopford, showing no mercy in a 5-0 win, with some Hopford fans causing a ruckus in the away end. Batchingtonwood Rovers took Bavingtor all the way to penalties, it was Bavingtor who held their nerve to go through. Loxthorpe Rovers won a close game against the holders St Astons City. South Maishop and Langpool Capton went to penalties, and it was the third tier side who made the crucial save, to set up a dream semi final appearance.

The semi finals, and the dream was over for Langpool Capton. They couldn’t match Loxthorpe Rovers, and it ended up 6-1, a sad way for the cup run to end. As for Bavingtor, they looked the better of the two sides vs Carston Green, and the 5-2 win was warranted. The final is set to commence in Highland Road, Hadford Hill.

Loxthorpe Rovers vs Bavingtor was set to be a close final, both sides thinking they could win it, the 43AU vs 42AU winners. Two first half goals, via Aston Lombardi and Xander Leckey, put Bavingtor in control. Xander Leckey scored again in the second half, and that was that, Bavingtor were winners, and they had a Super League and Flavovespia Gold Cup double, a fitting end for Robbie Redfield.

The most notable upset in the League Cup was Bavingtor falling at the first hurdle, a lengthly penalty shoot out at Boll Lake Mariners going against them. A three tier upset also saw FC North Waldster defeat South Maishop. Millsea were the only side outside the top two tiers to make it to Round 3, before Kings Lunsel eliminated them. Carstwood of the Challenge League got to the semis, before defeat at Stanmorn. An entertaining final between Loxthorpe Rovers and Stanmorn ended 3-2, Loxthorpe Rovers lifting the League Cup. The non league equivalent, the Alliance Shield, went the way of Hillsight Bridge, winning 0-2 over Presmoor Bridge Railway in the final, a valiant effort as well to Waldster Park United, making the Eastern Final. Finally, a one off LigAnaia Qualifier saw the Super League and Flavovespia Gold Cup runners up, Loxthorpe Rovers and Garden City compete for a LigAnaia berth. A Conor Jacques strike was enough for Garden City to win 0-1, and clinch that berth.

Havermilly FC

Havermilly made their debut in the modern era Super League, having waited 50 years for a return to the top flight. The underdogs gave it a good fight, and pulled off some good results from time to time, but couldn’t avoid the wooden spoon in the end. A quarter final Flavovespia Gold Cup berth added to a season that whilst didn’t live up to dreams, showed the side weren’t totally outclassed at this level. They return to the Challenge League with their heads held high, aiming for another shot at the Super League.

Vale FC

They went into the final Matchday against rivals Stanmorn with survival on the line, but couldn’t get the vital win needed. Challenge League winners last year, but they fell short of survival, continuing a yo-yo existence. Plucky performances were unfortunately countered with losses where points were possible, and that was enough to send them down. Getting out of the Challenge League hasn’t been too difficult for Vale, but Super League survival has.

South Maishop FC

A fair few saw them likely to struggle with the departure of Peter Marriott and Ronald Wade, but to this extent was a shock. The side found no form, even with a change of manager, and fall somewhat unexpectedly into the Challenge League. A Flavovespia Gold Cup semi final berth was little consolation for the Mounties, who have to return to the second tier. A rebuild will be needed with the individuals who shone despite the results being plucked away in the transfer window.

Hadford Hill FC

13th is unflattering for Hadford Hill, who stuttered late on to this spot. James Molloy was okay as manager, but has left the jury out on him. There’s some individual stars in the side, but not a confident and consistent eleven, something Hadford Hill have lacked for a while. A season of limited highlights, the pessimists will say this is how it’s felt a bit before past relegations. Next year, the target must be higher up, preferably above their big 3 rivals.

Stanmorn FC

A last day victory over rivals Vale secured survival, and Stanmorn also made the Flavovespia Gold Cup final. It was a scrappy season, with the side in a relegation fight despite a transfer flurry, but in the end, they got 12th and a cup run. The ambitious board will now go through with the Stanley Lane expansion, the question at the moment being will Stanmorn temporarily play in the Waldster Municipal Stadium, or up the road in Rovers Arena, Loxthorpe. The off field ambition and on field performance haven’t always been in alignment, the hope is the future is brighter and the yo-yo days are gone.

St Astons City FC

A rough start for their new manager prompted possible relegation fears, but there was a rally up to 11th place in the end. Question marks remain about behind the scenes issues given the performance of James Wilson managing Langmere Green Rovers however. Finishing above Hadford Hill was a bonus, but it felt a bit tumultuous for St Astons City this season. A more settled finish will hopefully give fans and their manager confidence for next year, else the bottom of the table could creep up on them.

Butterfield Rovers FC

Amidst a frantic battle at the bottom, Butterfield Rovers showed real confidence in their top flight return. 10th in the end, they looked relatively untroubled this year. A well rounded squad, in some spectacular fiery kits, settled down easily in the top flight, and hit the ground running. The next test will be a similar result next season, which could finally break the yo-yo cycle for the side.

Waldster FC

9th, but a calmer season than those gone by, after a sluggish start, Waldster settled down and landed firmly in midtable. With their main rivals in a bit of a state this season, Waldster will be satisfied they avoided the same fate. A 5-1 loss to Garden City in Round 3 of the Flavovespia Gold Cup was a minor disappointment for fans, but generally this was a good season. The hope is a Top 8 breakthrough can come soon for Waldster, but there’s work to do.

Binclestead Wood FC

It all went wrong for Stuart Allen and Binclestead Wood, and a League Cup win is no consolation. Their star power failed to deliver, and the next manager will be left with the daunting task of a rebuild with no IFCF football. The ambition the last few seasons was to finally dethrone rivals Bavingtor, instead everything seemed to fall against them this season.

Kings Lunsel FC

A steady side over the past few seasons, it wasn’t quite the push back into the IFCF places some hoped for, but still a comfortable top half finish. However a shock Round 2 exit in the Flavovespia Gold Cup to sixth tier Crimblewood Park disappointed fans, and a few are agitated with John Calvert. In a year where plenty of sides underperformed, Kings Lunsel were at about where they were expected to be, but the pressure is building on John Calvert for next season

Loxthorpe Rovers FC

Nick Bracken stepped up to replace Victor Adeyemo after he moved to the Flavovespia National Team. However, it was a disappointment for Loxthorpe Rovers, only 6th and no international club football next season. No comfort in the Flavovespia Gold Cup either, following a Round 2 exit to Challenge League Guildwell Football. The squad just didn’t gel this season, and it looks like some outgoings will be needed. Nick Bracken has another chance next season, but can ill-afford another failure.

Apsbrooke FC

Apsbrooke once again showed they can upstage the more established sides, finding themselves in 5th place and international club football again. They’re a side very much the sum of their parts, backed up by a buoyant home crowd and a sense of harmony in and around the club. An exit to Challenge League Sporting Towerhaite in Round 3 of the Flavovespia Gold Cup is probably the only dampener on the season. Next up, try to get into the Top 5 again.

Langmere Green Rovers FC

Langmere Green Rovers finally regained their mojo under James Wilson. They beat several teams, including rivals Loxthorpe Rovers, to an IFCF Challengers Cup Qualifying berth, and with it ended lots of fears they were doomed to a spell of midtable mediocrity. It was a new man and a fairly new set of faces in the squad, and it was a gamble that paid off nicely.

Garden City FC

A repeat of last season always seemed unlikely, so 3rd still pleased the fan and board. Garden City have been plucky recently, punching above their weight, and seem set to continue on current form. Their squad has slowly built up a plethora of confident names in the Super League, who are keen to fight at the very top. They also got to the final of the League Cup, a little bit of extra minor success this season.

Marthorpe City FC

Marthorpe City took the fight to Bavingtor for long periods of this season, but just couldn’t break the dominance of the holders. Richard Crawford, who some feared would be retiring soon, still looks fired up and capable, and the sale of Charles Shepherd hasn’t harmed the squad’s chances at all it seems. A run to the Flavovespia Gold Cup Quarter Finals showed Marthorpe City could compete on multiple fronts, as they look like one of the best of the rest again.

Bavingtor FC

A new stadium and new manager was still only a hurdle for Bavingtor to clear, as their almighty run of dominance continues. Champions, and Flavovespia Gold Cup winners again, there’s little this side seem incapable of winning domestically. Some call the success too boring, others see it as a legacy that’ll be remembered in years to come. Can Bavingtor challenge internationally next season, and can they once again hold their crown?

Super League

Gann FC

Gann would make it 3 out of 3 for relegated sides returning back to the Super League, with a 4-2 playoff final win over Abbots Lunsel. Faith in keeping Zafar Iqbal as manager was proven well placed, as he took the side back to the Super League at the first time of asking. It was an economical transfer window for the Waldster based side, with just the 5 new signings, relatively low for a newly promoted side, and such they could have a tough season in store. However there’s some good names in the squad, keeper Michael Weeks has a strong reputation for a club of Gann’s stature, helped by Marcin Olkowski and Alan Haetley at centre back. Paul Mansfield is a club icon, and important to any attacks down the right hand side. Attack was probably an area of concern last season, so Gann have signed Eric Davies from Abbots Lunsel, the player who scored twice in the playoff final against Gann now wears their colours. Amongst the younger players, Robert Walton is a strong right back already showing good strength and ability at just 17. Gann will seek to break the yo-yo cycle, but of the newly promoted sides, look the weakest on paper.

Carston Green FC

Carston Green had to settle for 2nd in the Challenge League, but promotion was always the goal. The side out in the far west of Flavovespia have a lot of history, the classic era saw them as one of the best of the rest, sometimes the best, but the modern era is less glamourous. Nevertheless, they return to the top flight with every intention of staying up, and good hope they can do. William Kenny was a relatively big name in the dugout, and he showed why he had that reputation last year. Playing a 5-3-2, look to Benjamin Brown and Arteziz Agerrea to try and influence the play down the wings, with new signing Terry Wright holding the line in defence. Lively youngster Gary Castleton and the more experienced Paul Fahey are the central midfielders looking to make a difference, and in attack, William Shaw is the striker with a lot of muscle, but also a good eye for goal. Always a long away day for most clubs, Carston Green will hope to bring a great home spirit into their games.

Batchingtonwood Rovers FC

Up as champions, Batchingtonwood Rovers are one of a fair few yo-yo clubs in the modern era, intersecting with several “small town” clubs who’ve made it to the big time in this time period. They’re known for their distinctive light blue shirts, white shorts and red socks, and a ground with a classic rickety stand on one end, a few small but new enclosed stands behind the goals, and a modern stand along one side. Managing them is Robin Page, an unsuccessful stint at Langmere Green Rovers sees a revival of his fortunes now. Hopes of survival are pinned on bringing in older players to plug a few gaps, such as Christopher Hills in defence, a returning Roy Percival in midfield, and Bruce Walton into attack. Key players from last season staying on are goalkeeper Lee Martin, Philip Halford in defence and veteran attacker Charles Elwell, 35 but showing few signs of slowing yet. Batchingtonwood Rovers won’t find staying up easy, but they aren’t coming up as cannon fodder.

Hadford Hill FC

All is not well in Hadford Hill, as after a fairly mediocre 13th, the new board pulled the trigger and sacked James Molloy, to much surprise and shock. Scrambling for a replacement, it fell to reserves manager Simon Keyes to take over, but he had little time to assemble a squad of his liking and quell dissent for this season. The once proud Big 3 member, now go into this season with relegation a real threat, if they do go down it’ll be only the 3rd time in their history. Looking beyond the behind the scenes issues, there’s still a good number of players in the squad the fans will be pleased to see. A pair of Nepharans, Dirk Russell and dual-national Luca Baker add some fight and feistiness to the front line, as Hadford Hill look to attack from the front. That size advantage is carried over in defence with Arnbergur Lútersson and Nicholas Christie both strong, sizeable defenders. Geoffrey Gardner meanwhile is the highest profile signing, a midfielder with plenty of years at Garden City, and a keen eye for a good pass. A lot isn’t going well before a ball is even kicked, but Hadford Hill will have a passionate fan base making their voice heard either way.

Stanmorn FC

Stanmorn are in the unusual position of being the first side in decades to be officially ground sharing for a season. Major renovation works at their home ground of Stanley Park sees them officially agree to make the short journey up the road to Loxthorpe, and will temporarily call Rovers Arena home. Ratified by the FFA and FFL, instead of one proposal to play at the currently unused for football Waldster Municipal Stadium, it’s instead a shorter journey north. Dinsdale Landen manages again for a 4th full season, with the board ambitious as ever, and keen to build on the Flavovespia Gold Cup final appearance last season. Last season’s international signings Inder Ekwem and Fernando Ferradura are joined Bastian Boltzmann from abroad. Of course there’s some home grown important players, goalkeeper Dale Lane will be important to any chance of success, Dane Armstrong will look to be a big influence in midfield, and Paul Reynolds can be potent in attack with lots of pace. However an interesting season awaits with a home that’s away from home, and a squad with plenty of what some cynically call also-rans and shallow depth.

St Astons City FC

A middling year for one of the classic Big 3 last season, nothing to particularly cheer about, but no major nerves. Ezra Harahap has settled into life in Flavovespia, and continues to manage St Astons City for another season. A challenge however, will be entering this season with an entirely new front line. Peter Butland leaves for Club Atlético Bexar in Valanora, and a sizeable sum sees Garden City sign Adrian Minister, one of Flavovespia’s promising young strikers. It’ll be down to the young attackers of Kashif Rashid from Havermilly, and Ko-orenite dual national Valentijn Andries to lead the front line of St Astons City. Saiful Irham comes in to provide width and skill on the left wing, and overseas players in the form of Jamal Akron and Mbongeni Tshivhumbe are present in defence. Andrew Linton comes into the midfield, with John Shipley his likely partner in the centre of the park. A decent squad for St Astons City, but one that’ll need to work hard if they’re to exceed expectations of a similar season to last year.

Butterfield Rovers FC

The only promoted side to stay up last year, Butterfield Rovers made their Super League return look rather easy. Philip Luke was out of management for a few years, but his time coaching and in reserves helped him gain the experience needed to take a side back to the Super League and stay up for a season. Now the goal is to avoid “second season syndrome”, so Butterfield Rovers can finally establish themselves in the top flight, and finalise redevelopment of Fire Park to the modern day. Out on the far north east of Flavovespia, Butterfield Rovers isn’t the longest away day for many of clubs, nor are they small enough to be a “small town” club, but they’re a spirited, underdog type of side, and can frustrate even the best sides. A squad that isn’t full of big names, but the sum of its parts adds up to a tough opposition. Goalkeeper Neil Angus stood out last season as measuring up to the top flight, another good season and bigger clubs could come knocking. Christopher Cowen comes in to try and boost the defence, having not broken through at Langmere Green Rovers or Waldster. In midfield, Derek Brown is a formidable tackler and long ball merchant at the defensive position of the diamond formation. Salman Shaikh partners Mark Jones in attack, the former the pacey option looking to run off the shoulder, whilst Jones is a more robust, battling forward. Paul Doyle joins from the youth team, just 17, but a lively looking right midfielder with an eye for taking on his man and whipping in a cross.

Waldster FC

9th for Waldster last year, and under Michael Anderson there’s a sense that this classic Big 3 side, hailing from the capital, have now found some stability after past turbulence. The dominance and continental club football battles of the past are absent, but the trajectory is positive for the side in yellow. The side are looking for a breakthrough back into the Top 8, even if that section of the table currently looks crowded. The squad has been slowly assembling into a side that has potential to make that challenge. The defence is the stand out section, Xannerian country singer Colton Boyd-Church and veteran Farf Bermudo Franco are centre backs, with Michael Salisbury influential on the left. Windsor Joseph and Walter Ridgefork line up in the heart of midfield, with Chromatik Radomil Antonov and homegrown Steve Zajac out wide. Robin King, a veteran forward who never seemed to hit a consistent peak, is partnered by another homegrown player, John Durkin Jr, with Peter Cross a useful rotation option. The side of the capital have a good blend of players out of their academy and youth setup, alongside some shrewd signings, giving hope for a future rise back up the table.

Binclestead Wood FC

Very little went well for Binclestead Wood last year. Not even the League Cup victory could lift the spirits, as after a real “sink or swim” season, the side crashed to 8th in the Super League, where anything outside an IFCF spot would be seen as a failure. Stuart Allen was sacked, and in a bold, courageous move, have appointed Michael Cole as the Super League’s first player-manager in a long time. The 36 year old, son of a famous Flavovespian manager, Nick Cole, will figurative (and sometimes literally) enter the dugout in the top flight, before even hanging his boots up. That story line aside, it’s been a fair bit of change to the roster, to compensate for the issues of last season. Needing a new goalkeeper, Darren Flight comes in after being backup at Langmere Green Rovers. The cash was splashed to bring in the talented teenager Kevin Holland at right back. Matthew Gowing also gives reinforcement to the midfield. Plenty of experience in the squad has stayed though, such as Adrian Muscio and Kloro McManus in defence, Cai Renshu in central midfield, Laoighseach Ó Finnthighearn and Amrik Singh out wide, and in attack, Michael Cole at 36 will still fancy his chances from time to time. Last season went nowhere, a return to the IFCF spots is the goal now.

Kings Lunsel FC

7th was so-so last season for Kings Lunsel, not quite the IFCF spot fans wanted, but no decline on the previous year. Tough nut manager John Calvert is popular enough amongst the fans, even if a few want to see more ambition from him, or a more ambitious manager. One of only 3 clubs ever present in the top flight, classic and modern era (alongside Waldster and Loxthorpe Rovers), their black and white stripes, and open air Kings Bowl stadium are distinctive amongst Flavovespians. A blow for Kings Lunsel this season is the sale of Nicolas Hutchinson to Loxthorpe Rovers, and the midfield has looked a bit weaker this year. There is talent around this squad. Tijl Beestehierde is a solid goalkeeper, certainly one of the top half in the Super League. Darren Holgate has maturity well above his 21 years on the left in defence, and as a wing back can initiate attacks. Another talented 21 year old in the squad is Rafael Daniel, likely to be a key midfielder now. Overseas Viper von Lisenberg and Aladdin Gilbert add flair and experience to the wings. In attack, Dustin Delaya of Chromatika has the tall, tough Tom Lutgerhorst, born in Flavovespia to parents from Ko-oren alongside him, with Steven Blakesley as a rotation option. And of all the academy players joining the 25 man rosters across the Super League this year, 16 year old left back Simon Knights comes in with the highest reputation so far. Strong and still growing, many think he’ll be capped one day.

Loxthorpe Rovers FC

Loxthorpe Rovers had been one of the “best of the rest” the past decade, so 6th in the first season under Nick Bracken was a bit of a slide, made doubly worse by the surge from rivals Langmere Green Rovers. The former assistant to Victor Adeyemo has been given a second season, but knows he must prove himself here. The side in green and white, based a little outside the capital but firmly in the Eastlands and not Outer Waldster, are generally one of the friendlier, more laid back fanbases, but won’t take it easy on the pitch or expect an easy ride. Peter Langdon’s sale to Mipojoseon brought in a big sum of money, used to sign striker Maurice Micahux of Ko-oren, midfielder Nicholas Hutchinson, and secure contracts of some of their stars. Their squad includes a formidable attacking midfield trio of Anthony Lane, Cecil Moy and Philip Swales, promising right back Rohan Patel, capped defenders Andrew Dance and Nazir Hussain and Garry Bowles in goal. A squad full of real difference makers, they should be challenging for the IFCF spots. The fans expect it, if they can’t, changes may well be afoot.

Apsbrooke FC

The original “small town” club that made it to the big time, it’s been nearly 2 decades of continual Super League football for Apsbrooke, they’re more than established now. And last year, they beat the odds to reach 5th place, and get international club football again. Robert Brown is fast becoming a club legend here in Apsbrooke, a town that despite modernisation and growing into a more suburban medium sized settlement, still has a reputation of a small farming community, the club even being nicknamed “The Farmers”. A 5-2-1-2 has been their style, a robust defensive trio, cramming the centre of the park, and allowing the wing backs to roam forward, has been their style. Nigel Plunkett has moved into the #1 jersey, replacing stalwart Andrew Bulman. Bryan Hayter and Eufemio La Franchi as wing backs underpin the success of the system, with Sanjay Anand the lead amongst the centre backs. Simon Paz adds to the defensive robustness as a central defensive midfielder, with Steven Dumoulin providing the link to the attack. Andrew Desmond and Steven Cutler provide an attack with Super League experience, if not obvious firepower, with Alex Sturman still going as a super sub at 36. Another Top 5 would be a dream, but the Top 8 is the expectation.

Langmere Green Rovers FC

Gary Wilson came in and brought an immediate return to the IFCF spots for Langmere Green Rovers, leapfrogging rivals Loxthorpe Rovers, and laying down an instant impression on fans. The once dominant side returned to fighting near the top, and the mood in Seafront Stadium is buoyant. Never relegated in the modern era from the Super League, and few would bet on it in their current trajectory. In terms of the squad, there’s plenty for fans and pundits to like. Clovis Arcard in goal is one of several overseas goalkeepers to make a good name for themselves in Flavovespia. Guðlaugur Ísidórsson and Gustavo Farias are longstanding overseas players in the Langmere Green Rovers squad, now joined by Severoux De Catravin at left back, with Terry Mabey on the right. A diamond midfield has Russell Robinson as the star, strong on and off the ball and able to act as a playmaker, with Thierry Guingamp providing a link to attack. Austin Payne and John Ready provide a dual threat at the striker role. Kadek Ahlberg and Sedna Giunta also provide experience and depth, and Langmere Green Rovers will go into this season keen to preserve their Top 5 spot.

Garden City FC

3rd, and Garden City are showing they belong in the battle for the IFCF places. Robert Turton is making many friends and no enemies amongst the Garden City faithful as manager. The planned city out to the west of the nation, in the Hampridge Westwood region may not have the best reputation, but has a club to be more than proud of. Fans are excited about the ambition shown by signing Adrian Minister, the talented young striker, from St Astons City, partnering Conor Jacques in attack. Dan van der Slaam from Xanneria is the other big signing, slotting into the midfield with a defensive focus. It’s a largely international look in midfield, with Inazo Slatework a key player at left midfield, and Michael Norris in the centre, Flavovespian Barry Branford makes up the right wing. 34 year old Clement Luther is a typical Nepharan no nonsense defender, with Brett Marson alongside him, and at full back, Iain Haire and popular Hibernardo Selltick. Fol Kacceo continues in goal for another year, the 35 year old a popular figure. Lots of good names in the squad, and lots of good vibes the club hopes to keep up.

Marthorpe City FC

Marthorpe City gave Bavingtor a strong fight last season, but it wasn’t quite enough for the title. Nevertheless, they’ve shown themselves to be one of the strongest clubs, behind Bavingtor, in the nation. One of the newer clubs, although over 50 years old now, they’ve never been relegated out of the top flight in the modern era, even if the “nouveau riche” reputation seems to be everpresent. Over 1 years has Richard Crawford been manager, but if anything his position seems as comfortable as ever, for as long as the results keep rolling in. Squad wise there’s plenty of stars across the pitch, this is a team very well assembled. Nathan Crewe in goal is still one of the league’s best even at 34. Full backs Stan Scott-Wilson and Roger Burden in the Flavovespia team. Centre backs Mario Quieros, a new signing, and Grandby Pillock, are suitable replacements for veterans Stuart Cookson and Saltino Salazar. Christopher Hill, arguably the best of the central midfielders Flavovespia has, is partnered by Michael Waller in the 4-2-3-1. David Atkinson comes in for a sizeable sum from Binclestead Wood, joining Dawson McCullough and Patrick Stapley in central attacking midfield. The lone striker role will be determined by a battle of two young talents, Martin Ross and Declan Williams. With experienced depth including Victor Collomb at right attacking midfield, and promising young talents like right wing back Maxim Berry in the squad, Marthorpe City look to cover all areas in a bid for their 9th title.

Bavingtor FC

A move to Flying Fields and a new manager Matthew Hunt still couldn’t stop Bavingtor lifting the Super League trophy again. Ruthless efficiency, brilliant coaching and IFCF Prize money saw 46AU become their 5th title in a row, 9 in the last 10, and they won the Flavovespia God Cup too. A dominant streak rarely seen before, and to many, their dominance makes them almost cartoonishly villainous. Their fans and board however continue onwards, hoping more success comes. It’s easy to see how their success comes with their star-studded squad. Peter Marriott in goal is only 21, but already up there with the Super League and Flavovespia’s best. The back line features 2 Flavovespian internationals, Richard Storrie and Paul Amos, alongside overseas players James Green and Jack Roles. In midfield, sitting deep is the great young 21 year old John Fletcher alongside Gunnvor Nieminen, with Leo Martin and Martin Fowler explosive wingers out wide. Aston Lombardi is a real menace in front of goal, with Xander Leckey able to help with goals and assists of his own. With depth provided by up and coming future stars like Frank Johnson and Jason Delgado, as well as a robust depth able to start for most other clubs, it’s easy to see why knocking Bavingtor off the top spot is so difficult.

Challenge League

The Challenge League, and for the clubs and fans here, most hope it won’t be the case that the 3 who dropped down go straight back up again. South Maishop however, are one of those, and the Flavovespia Gold Cup semi finalists from last season, and an unexpected relegation side, look like heavy favourites to return to the Super League. Vale however could well find it tougher, even if with their yo-yo status, plenty back them. This is the first time Havermilly return to the Challenge League as a relegated side, and an immediate return to taste the top flight again doesn’t look easy.

Of the playoff sides form last time, Capton Club look best set to mount a promotion challenge, the eastern side benefitting from a Flavovespia Gold Cup semi final run last season. Abbots Lunsel, former heavyweights of the classic era, will expect another promotion push, so will Guildwell Football, but the rivals of Havermilly in the Claret derby could find even a playoff spot a tough ask.

The Challenge League has a real western feel this season, with plenty of sides from that part of the nation there. As well as the aforementioned Claret rivals, Hopford will hope their predictions of a midtable season are pessimistic. St Astons sides Millsea and Vitarias Legion have similar predictions. None of the above 3 have ever made it to the Super League, could this be the season to finally smash that ceiling?

North Mayshop and Sporting Towerhaite would be disappointed to not even be in the top half last season. Both formerly of the Super League (albeit briefly for North Mayshop), they’ll hope to be in and around the playoffs again. Meanwhile Henhaven Islanders and Rumlington Rovers did well last year to stave off relegation, but it’s predicted they’ll be in that fight again.

And what of the 3 promoted sides? Langpool Capton, another of the western sides, ended a decades long wait to return to the 2nd tier, doing so as National League Division 1 champions. That said, they’re favourites to go down, with the wooden spoon. Slaton return, the rural side in the heights of St Astons region hope they can survive in the 2nd tier, meanwhile Nailwood Mills have good experience at this level, and hope to survive more comfortably.

National League Division 1

The 3rd tier, National League Division 1, is becoming a division of some fallen bigger names. Croxlich and Narrock Wood United has in the past felt like at least a solid Challenge League match up, but with the latter’s relegation and the former’s failure to earn promotion at the first time of asking, these sides now meet in the 3rd tier. Alongside Cartswood, something of a yo-yo side between the 2nd and 3rd tier, they make up the most likely teams to go up.

Buchraston went down without a big fight, and it’s no surprise they’re not strongly backed to bounce back. Instead other sides seen as possible promotion contenders include playoff losers last time out, Redthwaite Rangers and Claychester, and underperformers last year, Waldster based Woodbrook. An outside shot is given to another side who slipped up last year, Boll Lake Mariners, rivals to Super League Batchingtonwood Rovers, but with very contrasting fortunes.

Even predicted midfield sides are never far away from promotion or relegation, but the likely also-rans this year include Locksmith-on-Carron, Whittlesbury Wanderers, Johns Park, Alstoneand Westwood. The top 3 have Challenge League experience, with Johns Park even a founder of the modern era Super League. However, Alstone and Westwood, both relatively small sides but with a lot of history, have yet to rise above this level.

A tough year is predicted for the newly promoted sides. Captonbridge Rangers are the only one of those with experience in the Challenge League, albeit not for 20 years, and the club aren’t one of the eastern area’s stronger names by far anymore. Hadford Dacorum and Oxwich Wood are still punching above their weight at this level, the latter especially as they overtake the more established Oxwich within the municipality, once almost unthinkable. Any of these 3 would be happy to stay up.

National League Division 2

The 4th tier, where the professional and semi-professional domestic game reaches a confluence. 2 of the relegated sides are favourites to go back up. Radstye Rangers, an Outer Waldster side with the long term aim of muscling into the level of Stanmorn, Vale and Sporting Towerhaite. Also up there as potential favourites are Ashland Common, once a village side in Narrock Wood, a run to the Flavovespia Gold Cup final in 41AU helped them turn professional and establish themselves firmly in the league. Old Marthorpe, who like to claim to be the true Marthorpe side after a merger of Old Marthorpians and Marthorpe Athletic in the classic era, return to the fourth tier, expecting a battle to bounce back quickly.

Calhead Rangers are another side who’ve spent a lot of time in the non-league divisions, but now look optimistically at getting into the 3rd tier again. Saltearth and Oxwich are older clubs keen to try and get back to a position they hope befits their reputation. Boleland Wood Town fit that bill as well, and their rivalry with Saltearth is one of the fiercest of lower league clubs. Also hoping to be in the playoff picture are Highhadford, one of 4 clubs in the 4th tier from Hadford Hill this season, and Waldster Harriers, who debuted in the league with a 9th spot last year when plenty thought they’d go straight back down.

Of the other 3 Hadford Hill clubs here, South Hadford United have bounced between the 4th and 5th tier a bit, but seem to be settling now as a league club. Hadford Industrial United, formed of a merger of several factory teams, returned to the league last year and avoided relegation, their goal is the same this year. Magic Roundabout return to the league, their bright pink kits fitting of the unconventional and eccentric side, although staying up will be a battle.

Other clubs in the division are FC North Waldster, who’ve always struggled to shake the “inauthentic” label branded from their controversial creation from North Waldster Amateurs just over 4 decades ago. Napsmouth meanwhile, out in the west, have always been a bit of a favourite amongst underdog followers, some cup runs in the past and general likeability makes them a favourable club. Rounding out the 4th tier this season are two clubs who had more success in the classic era, but hope this promotion back to the league is a sign of things to come, Floombury United and Capton Valley. The former is in the west, the latter in the east, but both have similar storied pasts.

Natfiser Super League

Part 1

No clear runaway leader so far in the Super League, as a gaggle of teams battle it out at the top. Garden City currently lead, showing last year’s 3rd was no fluke. Plenty of their wins have been by 1 goal though, and with losses at Apsbrooke and Marthorpe City, some see their position as a mirage. Marthorpe City lie 2nd, unbeaten but 4 draws keeps them off the top by 2 points. A 5-2 win on the opening matchday against Binclestead Wood, shows what the team can do at their best. Bavingtor are only 3rd, early draws and a shock loss to St Astons City meant it’s been a climb back, even if in recent games they’ve seemed very strong. Apsbrooke and St Astons City round out the top 5, both making plucky starts and upsetting the odds a little.

At the bottom, Carston Green haven’t settled back into the Super League well. Only 1 win so far, and that’s against a Hadford Hill side also up against it in 15th, no new manager bounce there. Batchingtonwood Rovers lie 14th, a return that’s seen them score a fair number of goals, but have a conceding issue. All 3 sit below the “a point a game” line some see as the goal to stay up.

Some notable underperformers are Kings Lunsel and Loxthorpe Rovers. 12th and 13th, the heat is really on John Calvert and Nick Bracken to turn this around, fans expected an IFCF spot fight, not a potential relegation fight. Binclestead Wood in 6th are doing solidly under Michael Cole, although more is needed to push up higher. Gann have hit the ground running well, 8th and 13 points is nothing to be sneered at for a Super League return. As for everyone else, it’s been a so-so start, some good, some bad points.

Looking down the divisions, the Challenge League has started with a real jumble of teams in the promotion and relegation fights. South Maishop looking strong in 1st was expected, but Hopford are looking very good in 2nd, could they be on for a first ever Super League appearance? Millsea and Henhaven Islanders would also be pleased with early playoff position form. At the wrong end of the table, Sporting Towerhaite weren’t expecting to be in a fight to avoid a first ever drop to the third tier, and 4 points is a feeble start for Vitarias Legion. In the National League Division 1, Croxlich have already made light work of most of their opponents, with Cartswood following them nicely in 2nd too. The big shock is probably Boll Lake Mariners, few tip them to go down, so a 5 point start in 10 games looks poor. National League Division 2 sees Waldster Harriers as the big surprise, n only their 2nd league season, they’re now chasing entry to the 3rd tier and sit in the promotion spots at this stage. No such luck for the newly promoted sides, all 3 are in the relegation zone.

Natfiser Super League

Part 2

Bavingtor move back into their familiar top spot, thanks to going unbeaten since the loss early to St Astons City. Their lead at the top is only 3 points, but the feeling is that someone needs to beat them to stop them lifting the title again. Marthorpe City lie 2nd, they’ve held Bavingtor to a draw twice this season, but losses in Binclestead Wood and Butterfield Rovers are keeping them astray. Garden City are 3rd, also on 42 points, and whilst their early season form hasn’t been matched, few could argue they don’t deserve this spot. Then comes Langmere Green Rovers, 4th on 32 points, a position that the fans will consider decent, especially in light of how others are doing.

This Super League is one of the closest, 5th placed Binclestead Wood have 26 points, bottom side Batchingtonwood Rovers have 21 points. With it feeling like anyone outside the top 4 could godown, it’s no wonder a few clubs seem startled and concerned. That level of concern has seen just 1 sacking though, Nick Bracken was ousted at Loxthorpe Rovers, with James Molloy called in as replacement. Batchingtonwood Rovers, Stanmorn and Waldster are the bottom 3, but at this stage, there’s a genuine 12 team relegation battle, waiting for some teams to find form.

No surprises in the Challenge League at the top, as South Maishop continue onwards, aiming to immediately return to the Super League. Hopford are 5 points clear in 2nd, the dream of the Super League ever closer. In the playoff spots, are one time Super League clubs Guildwell Football and North Mayshop, former stalwarts Abbots Lunsel, and the never Super League side Millsea. Vitarias Legion already looked doomed to relegation, meanwhile it’s a 3 way race between Slaton, Henhaven Islanders and Langpool Capton to stay up as it stands. Croxlich still lead in the National League Division 1, with Redthwaite Rangers 2nd now, although the promotion battle is closing up. The relegation zone features the 3 sides who came up; Oxwich Wood, Captonbridge Rangers and Hadford Dacorum. Radstye Rangers have a 5 point lead in the National League Division 2, with a close battle for 2nd. FC North Waldster join Floombury United and Capton Valley in the relegation zone to non league.

With 1 game left, the title is still theoretically up for grabs, although Bavingtor have one hand on it. A 3 point lead means avoiding defeat gives them the title. Lose, and Marthorpe City would be champions if they win against rivals Hadford Hill. There’s added incentive as a win for Marthorpe City relegates Hadford Hill. Bottom side Stanmorn know they likely need a win to possibly stay up, but they’ll have to travel to Apsbrooke. Gann are 14th, their survival hopes rely on bettering the result of 13th placed St Astons City. St Astons City host Carston Green, whilst Gann travel to Waldster, the irony for Waldster being a win over Gann helps their two Big 3 rivals. Garden City are locked into 3rd, and Binclestead Wood and Langmere Green Rovers will round out the IFCF spots.

South Maishop are up as champions of the Challenge League, but 4 sides could go up from 2nd, they are Abbots Lunsel, Millsea, Hopford and Rumlington Rovers. All will be tracking each other’s games, any slips up and 2nd place could change hands in the blink of an eye. Capton Club aim to consolidate a playoff spot, and avoid a last minute leaping by Vale. No relegation deciders to be had, Henhaven Islanders, Langpool Capton and Vitarias Legion are down.
Croxlich win the National League Division 1 by some margin, but 2nd spot is an absolute down to the wire race between Locksmith-on-Carron and Cartswood, with Redthwaite Rangers all but out of the automatic promotion race due to goal difference. 4 teams will compete for the final 2 playoff spots. Relegation is all but settled and it’s the promoted trio going straight back down.

Radstye Rangers are almost certainly up, but there’s 4 teams all plausibly able to get 2nd. Highhadford are secure in 6th, and go to the playoffs. Capton Valley go straight back down in last place, and only one of Napsmouth, Magic Roundabout, or FC Waldster will live to fight another season in the league.

There was little drama in Batchingtonwood Rovers on the pitch, which suited Bavingtor just fine. The 0-0 draw was enough to ensure that they were once again champions, with 70 points. Marthorpe City won 3-1 over Hadford Hill, but it wasn’t the result either side needed. Marthorpe City were 2nd, and Hadford Hill relegated, in a game that ended in a bitter atmosphere. Stanmorn go down in last place, with a 3-0 loss at Apsbrooke, and will return to the revamped Stanley Park in the Challenge League. Also down are Gann, no help from Waldster who won 2-0 to relegate their intra city neighbours. St Astons City breathed a sigh of relief, their 1-1 immaterial in the end.

In the Challenge League, Abbots Lunsel were defeated a Nailwood Mills, and Hopford lost to Capton Club, now the side they must face in the lower semi final playoff. Millsea held their nerve, and a late goal meant they beat Havermilly. For the first ever time, the St Astons City based side will be in the top flight of Flavovespian football, a joyous day for the entire club.

In the National League Division 1, Cartswood are up as both they and Locksmith-on-Carron got draws. Redthwaite Rangers, Westwood and Claychester make up the playoffs. In the National League Division 2, Radstye Rangers and Calhead Rangers go up automatically, Old Marthorpe, Ashland Common, Waldster Harriers and Highhadford enter the playoffs, going down are Magic Roundabout, FC North Waldster and Capton Valley.

Super League

Welcome to the start of the 48AU season in Flavovespia. 240 games across 30 matchdays, but there can be only one champion.

Abbots Lunsel FC

Abbots Lunsel return to the Super League, in a close season they battled into the playoff spots, and then battled their way back to the Super League. A return for the first time since 45AU to the top flight, for the once contenders of “best of the rest” in the classic era. The return of Abbots Lunsel brings the excitement of the Lunselbury Derby back, expect those games against Kings Lunsel to be fierce and feisty. Their squad has seen some reinforcements, such as the likes of Dale Lane in goal, Luca Baker and Paul Mansfield out wide, and Edward Caldwell in attack. Key players from last year include striker George Bennett and hardy centre back Ronald Marshall. However few would look at this Abbots Lunsel squad and back them to stay up, indeed they could be in a wooden spoon battle.

Millsea FC

Last year Millsea realised their dream. The St Astons City based side, in the north western coastal district of the city, finally pulled it together to reach the top flight for the first time ever. They did it on the final day, with an away win at Havermilly. The Shipyard, a novel ground with stands and surroundings designed like shipping containers, will now host Super League football. And whilst many will predict them to go straight back down, they look at least as strong as Abbots Lunsel, and aren’t here to make up the numbers and be the minnows who get an easy kicking. Super League experience is incoming from Aaron Tilson, Kevin Snowden, Kevin Nairne, Elliot Lewis and David Wheeler. There’s plenty of heroes from last season though who’ll play a role, such as goalkeeper Stuart Roberts, centre back Michael Windsor and dynamic young midfielder Paul Young. Keep an eye out for Roy Burrows, just 16, the striker has been a star at youth level, and is a boyhood fan of the club.

South Maishop FC

There’s never an easy time in the Challenge League, but South Maishop made it look comfortable last season, en route to an immediate return to the Super League. The Mounties have been a bit of a yo-yo side, and they’ll look to break that cycle. Defence looks key for South Maishop, with Carl Tongue in goal, and a solid 2-5 of Chris Durand, Nathaniel Lewis, Rizwaan Raja and Craig Teasdale. However there’s experience up top as well, with Paul Reynolds signed to join the attack, and midfield veterans Timothy Turner and Geoffrey Gardner. Manager James Molloy has built up a hardy squad that should stay up despite being newly promoted, the pressure will be on him to deliver that, given recent records of newly promoted sides struggling.

St Astons City FC

13th was maybe an unfair reflection on Ezra Harahap and his St Astons City side, it was by no means a perfect season, but they were one of many stragglers last season. Certainly given Hadford Hill went down, this Big 3 side can’t complain too much about the situation. Individual performances were promising for St Astons City, Ko-oren dual national Valentijn Andries showing a real attacking poise. It was a muted transfer window, St Astons spending on contracts, with Dane Armstrong in midfield the only notable signing. Mbongeni Tshivhumbe and Jamal Akron look to be important in defence for St Astons City, with Andrew Linton hoping to have a better season this time, after a so-so debut year. This is a squad who should stay up, but it’s not certain if they can’t hit the ground running.

Loxthorpe Rovers FC

Nothing went right for Loxthorpe Rovers, last year was seen as “all or nothing” to get back into the IFCF spots, instead they crashed, and were in a relegation battle. Nick Bracken was sacked, and is now back as assistant to his old boss, Victor Adeyemo, in the Flavovespia national team. No promotion from within, as William Kenny leaves Carston Green to enter the dugout. With the stars of the past ageing old or now elsewhere, after a fire sale, it’s a revamped squad with Anthony Lane at left wing one of the only big names still making their presence felt. Maurice Micahux is needed to step up in attack with goals this season, with 33 year old Kenneth McKeon coming in from Marthorpe City to add his presence. Garry Bowles remains in goal, at his best close to international standard, the defence sees Rohan Patel step up at right back, the 20 year old out of the shadows now of his mentor, Andrew Dance. Loxthorpe Rovers should certainly look at bettering 12th place, a top half finish should be their goal.

Carston Green FC

They didn’t set the Super League alight last season, but Carston Green had a comfortable return to the Super League by their standards. The side out in the far west of Flavovespia are generally a neutral’s favourite, and weren’t afraid of the big boys. Robin Murray is now manager, after William Kenny was enticed across the country to Loxthorpe Rovers. Carston Green have made a few signings in the transfer market, Andrew Morley and Paul Crawley boost the full back position, and Grant Blake adds a towering presence to attack. Midfield is a potential weakness though, with Paul Fahey the only midfielder seen as in his prime years, and some fans have shown discontent at the transfer strategy this off season. Carston Green may find themselves struggling this season, in a potential relegation battle.

Batchingtonwood Rovers FC

Up as champions of the Challenge League past season, Batchingtonwood Rovers defied their small town status, to stay up with a respectable 10th place finish. Robin Page has built a lot of confidence in himself with the fans and players, and off the field there’s more serious talk of moving to a new stadium, with Batchingtonwood Park constrained in reaching the expected 10000 capacity for the Super League, and one of the more old-school venues left. On the pitch, Batchingtonwood Rovers are more than happy to take their reputation for having good physicality and battling mentality, signings like Arnbergur Lútersson and Simon Coombs as centre backs reinforce that. It’s not all grit and grinding out results, Roy Percival provides some good flair in midfield, and in attack Charles Elwell may be 36, but is somehow in the right spot at the right time a lot. Batchingtonwood Rovers could suffer from “second season syndrome”, the hope is the club have enough in them to keep themselves up.

Kings Lunsel FC

9th, and not exactly a memorable season for Kings Lunsel, plenty would’ve wanted John Calvert sacked, but he stays on another year. A team that weren’t the sum of their parts last season, plenty of good individuals who just didn’t seem to connect. The Centrelands side have their fierce rivals Abbots Lunsel returning to the Super League, fans will be eagerly awaiting that derby. There’s some new faces donning the black and white stripes, with much excitement about Philip Swales coming from Loxthorpe Rovers. Gary Smith provides a wealth of experience in midfield, whilst still young enough to contribute on the pitch as well as off the pitch. Goalkeeper Tijl Beestehierde will be important for the side to get points, whilst at the other end, Ko-oren dual national Tom Lutgerhorst, Viper von Lisenberg, Aladdin Gilbert and Dustin Delaya are also all options in the front three. Simon Knights at 17 is one of the clubs most promising prospects, the left back is touted by some as a future Flavovespian international. A top half finish would placate the fans this season.

Waldster FC

After the struggles of the past decade, and the faltering of their rivals Hadford Hill and St Astons City, a top half finish for Waldster was certainly a delight for the fans. Michael Anderson has been the manager to steady the ship, and the pieces of a strong squad have begun to come together. The side in the capital know the IFCF spots are a bit of a distance away, but consolidation of the midtable spots would be a continuation of their return to strength. Demeter Slovak of Xanneria is the big signing, looking to liven up the attack with Robin King’s age showing. Fellow Xannerian and a country singer, Colton Boyd-Church remains in defence, a big name on and off the pitch. And an international grouping of Bermudo Franco, Radomil Antonov and Walter Ridgefork will hope to be on the good side of the fans again this year. Whilst some key players like Michael Jennings were sold, the board are confident in the depth and players brought in, and so too are the fans.

Butterfield Rovers FC

7th for Butterfield Rovers last season, and amidst the chaos of last season outside the top spots, Butterfield Rovers have been a quiet success story. They’re looking to emulate Apsbrooke, another smaller side who became well established in the Super League and reached the IFCF spots on occasions. Butterfield Rovers are certainly becoming a tough side to visit under Philip Luke, there’s only so many surprise results they can cause before it ceases to be a surprise. Neil Angus in goal has been a key part of that success at one end, with Ahmad Ali at the other end a real fox in the box. Amar Kataria returns from abroad to boost the defence, likely to partner Christopher Cowen. In terms of young talent, Paul Doyle looks promising, an 18 year old who’s a fairly robust winger on the left. Butterfield Rovers will do well to get 7th again, but they’ll certainly give it a go.

Apsbrooke FC

Apsbrooke got 6th last season, and it’s a testament to their rise as a club that a few could be disappointed with that. Nestled in the Torlands, the relatively small town side are more than just a Super League regular now, they’re a top half regular. Robert Brown enters his 12th season as manager for the club, a club legend and a key part of their success. One of the few teams to play a 5-2-1-2, it’s worked well for them for many seasons. Bryan Hayter and Eufemio La Franchi are tasked with the wing back role, with Nigel Plunkett a local lad in goal, and Michael Glackin joining Sanjay Anand and Maurice Goodwin in central defence. Andrew Desmond will be the main striker, and a battle to join him includes Servidio Sanfratello now, a dual-national Juven from Hadford Hill. Hourisse-Lemand Lauswitz and Steven Dumoulin will be key to the midfield. Expect Apsbrooke to be in the hunt for the IFCF spots again, even if landing one may be a stretch too far.

Langmere Green Rovers FC

5th, an IFCF spot is what Langmere Green Rovers would’ve wanted, the implosion of rivals Loxthorpe Rovers on the pitch a nice bonus. Once the dominant force in the modern era, the side are now IFCF spot battlers, even if the title is still a stretch away. Gary Wilson has proven himself a manager able to bring the good times back to Seafront Stadium, and a spot in the Flavovespia Gold Cup final helped show that. Home grown strike pairing Austin Payne and John Ready complement each other so well, and are a key part of this successful period. Thierry Guingamp is just 22, but has also made a real impression on the squad. Further back, Clovis Arcand is a dependable goalkeeper, and the centre back pairing of Guðlaugur Ísidórsson and Gustavo Farias are a formidable and familiar pairing. Russell Robinson has been an absolute boss in the midfield, and has shown that internationally too. Once again Langmere Green Rovers should have their sights on a Top 5 spot.

Binclestead Wood FC

Michael Cole made a decent impression in his first season as player manager, it wasn’t perfect, but he nailed the requirement of finishing in the Top 5. Still rostered, he stepped back from plenty of games, although wasn’t afraid to get his boots on, and the squad seemed to return to the form expected of them from their fans. The star of the show is Amrik Singh, whilst he’s considered a move abroad, he’s also been focused on the pitch, and his cutting runs from both sides of the pitch have been so hard to defend. Plenty of other attacking talent sits in the squad, as well as player manager Michael Cole, Laoighseach Ó Finnthighearn, Kenneth McKean and Reginald Parker provide attacking clout. Philip Roe commands the midfield, and at the back, Kloro McManus heads a defence with a lot of experience, but maybe just a few too many years on them collectively. Darren Flight also steps into a starting goalkeeper role, keen to swim, not sink. Another IFCF spot should be on the cards for Binclestead Wood, but a few questions remain about uneven squad depth.

Garden City FC

Another 3rd for Garden City, a League Cup win, and they’re showing themselves as a real force to be reckoned with. Robert Turton has helped propel the club forward, and this season they’ve unleashed plenty of spending to challenge higher, dare they dream of knocking Bavingtor off the top? It’s easy to see their optimism with their squad. Michael Jennings joins in goal, after a successful time at Waldster, he replaces Fol Kacceo as starter. Nazir Hussain comes in to the defence, a Flavovespia international and a big name at Loxthorpe Rovers. Rhys Deighton is also in, adding a lot of force and firepower to the Garden City backline. Rafael Daniel, a potential Flavovespia international, joins in central midfield, adding his presence to names like Dan Van der Slaam, Inazo Slatework, Michael Norris and Barry Branford in the centre of the park. The attack has Adrian Minister, Conor Jacques and David Jones all with a goalscoring reputation. With this talent at disposal, plenty predict 2nd is on the cards for Garden City.

Marthorpe City FC

After going so close last season, Marthorpe City have made a huge signing, in the form of Jonathan Bagshaw. The sell off of players in Sylestone meant, with a lack of international attention, the Flavovespia national team captain returns to the Super League in Marthorpe City colours. The fans were very pleased with this signing, regardless of salary expectations and lack of other signings. Richard Crawford, manager since Season 32, hopes this’ll complete a strong squad. Nathan Crewe remains in goal, a very experienced goalkeeper domestically and internationally with a rocket of a boot for clearances. Mario Quieros and Grandby Pillock start at centre back, flanked by the Flavovespian internationals of Stan Scott-Wilson and Roger Burden. Michael Waller and Christopher Hill are in the heart of midfield, then an attacking midfield trio of David Atkinson, Dawson McCullough and Jonathan Bagshaw sits ahead of them. Declan Ross is likely to start as a striker, with Martin Williams an option. Experieinced backups like Saltino Salazar, Michael Hawkins, Dipan Shah and Steven Blakesley ensure this is a strong squad. However, is it strong enough to beat Bavingtor or a surging Garden City? That’s a big ask.

Bavingtor FC

It was close, but Bavingtor were once again champions, the side utterly dominant in this era. It’s easy to see why with the squad they’ve assembled, and rarely are they fluke seasons, often they’re well past the classic 60 points mark. Matthew Hunt has picked up where Robbie Redfield left off, and is guiding this group of stars very well. In goal, Peter Marriott has become the new Flavovespia number one, and shows a composure and maturity well beyond his years. A back line of Richard Storrie, Paul Amos, Jack Roles and James Green will never be easy to score against. Leo Martin leads the left midfield, with Gunnvor Nieminen and John Fletcher in the heart of midfield, and Matthew Fowler out wide. The attack is led by Aston Lombardi and Frank Johnson. With the likes of Cecil Moy, Kelvin Bullock, Jonathan Goldstone, Jason Delgado and Xander Leckey just as depth, it’s hard to see anyone else as favourites to win the title.

Bavingtor began Matchday 1 on FridayFooball Fever with an ominous message to the league, we’re back for more. Leo Martin took less than a minute to score past Butterfield Rovers, in a rampant 4-1 victory. Hadford Hill and Gann made winning returns to the Super League, and Vale got a home draw vs Kings Lunsel in the opening matchday. Marthorpe City’s away in at Binclestead Wood, 2-3, was a thriller as Martin Wahlmüller scored an injury time winner.

However Matchday 2 saw Kings Lunsel take a great 3-0 victory against a substandard Bavingtor, despite a late red card. St Astons City dominated 1-4 at rivals Waldster, going top early along with Marthorpe City and Langmere Green Rovers. Matchday 3 saw the story of the penalties at Bavingtor. They missed theirs, and Jonathan Bagshaw scored his, as Marthorpe City won 0-1, putting themselves as early contenders. St Astons City also won to stay top, a 3-3 draw at Gann for Langmere Green Rovers leaves them 3rd. Batchingtonwood Rovers and Waldster meanwhile, had a thrilling 4-4 draw of their own. Matchday 4 saw Bavingtor back on track, a 0-1 win at struggling South Maishop, now the only side without a point. Wins for St Astons City, Marthorpe City, Langmere Green Rovers and Loxthorpe Rovers keep them in the top 4, Waldster up to 5th after a 2-0 win over rivals Hadford Hill. Hadford Hill would draw with St Astons City on Matchday 5, ending the perfect start of their rivals. Marthorpe City however keep going perfectly, a win at Kings Lunsel makes it 5 wins from 5. South Maishop get a first win, going 1-4 at Butterfield Rovers, leaving Apsbrooke and Batchingtonwood Rovers winless, the former a bit of a shock.

Bavingtor’s so-so start continued into Matchday 6, with a 3-1 loss at Langmere Green Rovers. A tough battle was on for the holders, to keep up their streak. Marthorpe City kept their winning run going, with a 2-3 win at a Garden City side in the relegation spots, to many’s surprise. Apsbrooke are off the mark in terms of wins with a 1-0 win over Butterfield Rovers. Matchday 7 sees Marthorpe City remain perfect , a 2-0 win over South Maishop marking them as a team to beat. St Albans finally lost, 3-0 at a Binclestead Wood side sneaking into the IFCF spot battle. Langmere Green Rovers in 2nd also lost, and Waldster’s 1-2 win at nearby Vale puts them 4th, a good start to their season. Matchday 8 sees Marthorpe City finally defeated. 2 missed penalties allows a single Apsbrooke goal to take the 3 points. Bavingtor also lose again, this time 4-3 at Waldster, the capital side making a much stronger start than expected. A win for St Astons City keeps them in chase of the leaders. Marthorpe City stutter in Matchday 9 too, a;though credit to Daniel Davies of Langmere Green Rovers, scoring a late equaliser. They and rivals Loxthorpe Rovers are livening up the Top 4 race. Waldster won a 3-4 thriller at Butterfield Rovers hanks to Colton Boyd-Church, to close up to the leaders. Matchday 10, and 5 points separate the leading 7 sides. Top now are Waldster, an incredible start to the season for them. A second loss this season for Marthorpe City, away at Loxthorpe Rovers, sees them slip to 2nd after 7 wins to begin. Langmere Green Rovers are 3rd, just head of rivals Loxthorpe Rovers. Looking up at the IFCF spots are Binclestead Wood, St Astons City, and holders Bavingtor, off to a sluggish start. At the bottom is Batchingtonwood Rovers, just 3 points and no wins in a dismal start. South Maishop are 15th, and Vale 14th, neither getting early points on the board. Going upwards, Gann have made an alright return to the Super League, however 12th is disappointing for Kings Lunsel. Butterfield Rovers and Apsbrooke in 11th and 10th have a bit of a hangover from last season. 9th for Hadford Hill is a decent return to this level. Garden City have 8th, but a hefty point difference to the leading pack.

Matchday 11 was one of many draws. In Marthorpe City however, as visitors Waldster come in and take a 1-3 win, cementing themselves as genuine contenders and leaving Marthorpe City in a lean streak. Binclestead Wood winning against Garden City gives them a bit of the boost in the title race. Matchday 12 sees Waldster unexpectedly lose at home to South Maishop, opening up the race for top. Loxthorpe Rovers beat a struggling Apsbrooke, to close within a point of the top. Langmere Green Rovers miss the chance to go top, losing at Garden City. Another loss for Marthorpe City, this at St Astons City, compounds a poor run of form, and Bavingtor are lacking guile in a goalless draw at Gann. Batchingtonwood Rovers finally win, a 1-0 win over a Kings Lunsel side only just above the drop. Matchday 13, the Rovers derby sees Loxthorpe Rovers defeat Langmere Green Rovers 1-2, and with it they go top. Bavingor and Binclestead Wood draw 1-1 in their rivalry, neither in the IFCF spots for now. Waldster come unstuck in a 2-1 loss at Apsbrooke, and Marthorpe City arrest their slide with a 2-0 win over bottom side Batchingtonwood Rovers. Matchday 14, and Loxthorpe Rovers continue to lead, a late set of goals in their 1-2 win over Garden City helping their cause. Waldster beat Langmere Green Rovers to remain just 2 off the lead. Wins for St Aston City and Binclestead Wood have them in the Top 4, with Marthorpe City only drawing at rivals Hadford Hill. Batchingtonwood Rovers win against South Maishop in the match between the bottom 2, but 5 points separate the whole bottom half now. Matchday 15 sees Waldster travel to Loxthorpe Rovers, and with a 0-3 win, Waldster go back to the top at the halfway stage. Binclestead Wood win at Kings Lunsel 1-3, going 3rd but dropping Kings Lunsel into the relegation zone. Marthorpe City rise to 4th, with Langmere Green Rovers defeating St Astons City. A real split has opened up, Bavingtor in 7th have 27 points, Butterfield Rovers in 8th have just 18 points.

Matchday 16, and the Top 5 all register wins to begin the second half of the season. Waldster, Loxthorpe Rovers, Binclestead Wood and Bavingtor lead the battle in a thrilling season. Hadford Hill and Kings Lunsel lost, two big names in a real relegation battle. South Maishop’s 4-1 win over Gann sends them up to 8th now, in a season where the bottom half are all struggling. Plenty of wins near the top in Matchday 17 too. Waldster got the 2-3 derby win over St Astons City to remain top, Loxthorpe Rovers needed a Maurice Micahux hat trick to overcome a spirited Batchingtonwood Rovers. Binclestead Wood battled hard to beat South Maishop, and Bavingtor cruised past a struggling Kings Lunsel. Hadford Hill’s 3-2 over Langmere Green Rovers sees them out of the drop zone at the expense of Gann. Matchday 18 saw few wins at the top, with Waldster suffering a shock loss to Batchingtonwood Rovers. The visitors are off the bottom at the expense of Kings Lunsel, a first relegation looking very possible. Both Loxthorpe Rovers and Binclestead Wood played separate 3-3 draws, and Marthorpe City and Bavingtor shared a 1-1 draw in their game, neither giving up hope of the title. Matchday 19 sees Waldster continue to lead, with a win at rivals Hadford Hill, who are still in relegation danger. Loxthorpe Rovers also showed their authority, a 1-4 win that leaves Gann in 14th. Binclestead Wood drop points, a 0-1 loss to Langmere Green Rovers as the 6th placed side still eye the top of the table just 5 points away. A 3-3 draw for Kings Lunsel against Garden City lifts them off the bottom, but only to 15th. Matchday 20 sees a lead change. Loxthorpe Rovers defeat Binclestead Wood 1-0, dropping Binclestead Wood to 6th and 7 points off top. Waldster were held 2-2 by Gann, the latter in 14th and wanting any points they can get in a relegation fight. Bavingtor are 3rd, and just 4 points off top, the holders are sneaking back up there. 4th is Marthorpe City, 5th Langmere Green Rovers, both on 39 points, the difference between the title, IFCF football, and nothing is so close, especially with one less spot. Bottom are Kings Lunsel, never before relegated, could their streak spanning both eras be coming to an end? They’re joined by Batchingtonwood Rovers and Gann in the relegation zone, but anyone from 8th downwards is in danger. 7th placed St Astons City are the sole team now who seem to be drifting into midtable form.

Matchday 21, Loxthorpe Rovers begin to pull out an advantage. Their 1-2 win at Vale wasn’t a star performance, but Waldster drop points after a draw at Binclestead Wood. The lead is 4 points with Bavingtor shifting up to 2nd after a win over Langmere Green Rovers. Marthorpe City defeated Garden City to boost their top 4 ambitions. Gann and St Astons City played out a thrilling 4-4 draw. 11 of 21 games so far have been a draw for Gann, unfortunately they have just 2 wins. Matchday 22, a critical game saw 1st vs 2nd, and Russel Robinson and Leo Martin scored the goals to take Bavingtor a point off top. The holders are looking good when it matters now. Waldster could only draw with Vale, as they fail to capitalise on a Loxthorpe Rovers loss. South Maishop vs Marthorpe City was a thrilling 4-4 draw, the sort of result however that’s leaving Marthorpe City a bit off the lead. Kings Lunsel won 0-3 at Apsbrooke, Apsbrooke slip to 13th, with Kings Lunsel 14th now. A win for Batchingtonwood Rovers against Gann moves them off the bottom, sending Gann to 16th. Matchday 23, the lead changes hands. Bavingtor outclassed Waldster, winning 4-1 and knocking Waldster to 5th. Marthorpe City and Binclestead Wood both won to keep the charge up for the Top 4 and maybe a title shot, a draw for Langmere Green Rovers at Kings Lunsel leaves both sides unsatisfied. Matchday 24 opens he title race wide open. Bavingtor look a bit flat in defeat at St Astons City. However Loxthorpe Rovers lose again, this time to Kings Lunsel who push Apsbrooke into the relegation zone. Binclestead Wood and Waldster also win, they and Loxthorpe Rovers all sit just 2 behind Waldster. Langmere green Rovers and Marthorpe City are just 3 points off top, after the former beat the latter. Matchday 25, just 5 to go and it’s very close. Bavingtor laboured to a win over 15th placed Batchingtonwood Rovers to stay top. 2nd is Waldster, they beat Kings Lunsel who slip to 14th place. 3rd is Marthorpe City, they beat Loxthorpe Rovers, the leaders 4 matchdays ago now lie 6th. Binclestead Wood are 4th and Langmere Green Rovers 5th, both drawing on Matchday 25. Gann lie bottom on 19 points, but only 4 off safety. South Maishop and Butterfield Rovers in 8th (31 points) and 9th (30 points) have hit enough form to probably be safe, but there’s still plenty of football to play.

Matchday 26, just 4 to go and it’s still a real battle on. Bavingtor are held in Hadford Hill to a 1-1 draw. Some relief for them is a late Declan Williams goal means Waldster and Marthorpe City also draw. Binclestead Wood take the opportunity, beat Garden City who are 13th and 4 points above relegation, and now lie 2nd, just 2 points off their rivals. 2 injury time goals for South Maishop means it’s only a 2-2 draw for Loxthorpe Rovers, who’ve faded away. Apsbrooke take a big leap towards safety with a 1-3 win at Langmere Green Rovers. Gann may remain in the relegation zone, but boost their hopes in a 3-2 win against Vale. Matchday 27, and wins for Bavingtor and Binclestead Wood means the rivals are closing in on it being one of those lifting the title, with the other 4 contenders losing. Waldster lose 3-1 at South Maishop, maybe a terminal blow to their title hopes, although an IFCF spot in itself exceeds expectations. Marthorpe City were undone by a St Astons City comeback, Apsbrooke beat Loxthorpe Rovers as they keep up the goal of staying up, and Langmere Green Rovers fell apart in a shocking 0-4 loss to Garden City. Kings Lunsel won 3-1 over Batchingtonwood Rovers to move just 2 points behind Vale in 13th, but Batchingtonwood Rovers look close to relegation now, 7 points from safety with 9 to play for.

Matchday 28, a matchday of derbies. An Amrik Singh hat trick meant Binclestead Wood beat rivals Bavingtor 4-2, and they go top by 1 point, can Binclestead Wood dethrone their rivals at long last? Loxthorpe Rovers finally got back to winning ways, in a 3-2 contest against rivals Langmere Green Rovers. Not yet out of the title race are Waldster, a 2-1 win over Apsbrooke keeps them 3 points behind leaders Binclestead Wood, albeit with a much weaker goal difference. Marthorpe City drop to 5th, a 4-3 loss at Batchingtonwood Rovers means the hosts live to fight on in the Super League, at least for another matchday. Gann lost to Butterfield Rovers, leaving them bottom and 5 points from safety with 6 points left to play for. Kings Lunsel drew 3-3 at Hadford Hill, Kings Lunsel are still in the relegation zone, but 1 point behind Vale with an identical goal difference. Matchday 29, and all that was settled was relegation for Batchingtonwood Rovers, after a loss at South Maishop. Gann beat Kings Lunsel, both remain in the drop zone, but are still potentially able to save themselves as Vale lost again. The title race goes to the final day. A potentially tough away day saw Binclestead Wood come through with a 0-2 win at Butterfield Rovers. Bavingtor did what they needed to do, winning 2-1 over Vale. Waldster’s 0-1 win at Langmere Grreen Rovers technically leaves them in the hunt, but it requires an improbable goal difference swing, additionally that results knocks Langmere Green Rovers out of IFCF spot contention. Marthorpe City drew with rivals Hadfield Hill, and a Loxthorpe Rovers loss to Garden City leaves Marthorpe City ahead on goal difference in the race for 4th.

Just 4 minutes into the final Matchday, and its a few big goals. Aston Lombardi wriggled free to fire Bavingtor into the lead at Garden City. Meanwhile, needing a win to survive at all costs, Kings Lunsel took the lead at Binclestead Wood thanks to Philip Swales, putting the holders Bavingtor top. Vale needed a win if Kings Lunsel won, and 5 minutes in, Clive Wright was sent off, a straight red for bringing down Ahmad Ali. Fury from the hosts who felt that was harsh, and further fury as Ali put Butterfield Rovers ahead in the 10th minute. Marthorpe City and Loxthorpe Rovers were both losing, Loxthorpe Rovers at Waldster, and Marthorpe City at relegated Gann. Gann’s lead lasted only 7 minutes, 20 minutes in, Dawson McCollugh equalised for Marthorpe City, giving them the edge. In Garden City, a quick fire double by Russell Robinson and Frank Johnson put Bavingtor 0-3 up, they were doing more than enough, they just needed Kings Lunsel to not lose at Binclestead Wood. Philip Swales added a second for Kings Lunsel, the title fight sliding rapidly away from Binclestead Wood. Just before half time, both Garden City and Binclestead Wood clawed a goal back, the latter from player manager Michael Cole, but the title was still in the hands of Bavingtor. 4th was in the hands of Marthorpe City, only drawing at Gann, but Waldster lead Loxthorpe Rovers 2-0. Vale were looking likely to go down, 0-1 down, down to 10 men, and with Kings Lunsel winning at Binclestead Wood.

The final 45 minutes were poised for a great showdown, but for a while there were no goals in any of the key games. 70 minutes in, and Dawson McCullough put Marthorpe City into the lead, and on course for 4th and the IFCF spots. 71 minutes in, and William Shaw equalised for Binclestead Wood. One more goal, and they’d be champions, but Kings Lunsel needed to hold on to stay up, and hope Vale could find nothing. 83 minutes in, Michael Norris made it 2-3 at Garden City, another goal for the hosts and Bavingtor would lose the title. Matthew Fowler made it 2-4 with 3 minutes to go, now all eyes were on Binclestead Wood. They toiled, they threw everything forward, but Kings Lunsel were a brick wall in front of goal in the dying minutes, and there was to be no winner. Binclestead Wood players slumped to the floor in agony, having lost the title on the final day to their rivals. The whistle went at Vale, similar dismay for the home fans as they were down. Bavingtor fans cheered in the away end, and as the final whistle went, they had pipped their rivals to the trophy. A 13th Super League title, but the hardest fought for them. Marthorpe City got 4th, as Loxthorpe Rovers had to endure the taunts of “we’re going on an international tour” from Waldster fans. The season ends, a familiar winner, but that doesn’t tell half of the story.
