The problem is that virtually everything else is either bland and boring (France, Portugal, Moldova), just outright terrible (Greece, Ireland, even my home country the UK), OK but not really worth listening to a whole lot (Norway, Belgium, probably Finland) or, in the case of Croatia, not a bad song but completely ruined by the massive hype to the point where it feels a bit astroturfed and being horribly unfunny. And that's not a case of humour being subjective, I've seen the performance and read the lyrics and I cannot for the life of me find where the joke is. I'm honestly really tempted to just skip it this year.

What's your opinion of the song of the Netherlands?

No, they're still going to Malmö. Then again, Russia was kicked out of Eurovision 2022 because a whole load of broadcasters threatened to boycott the contest. This year, it was Iceland raising a fuss and even then it felt a bit half-arsed and cynical (drawing it out and then anticlimactically agreeing to take part).

Finland also flirted with the idea of a boycott. There was also a campaign in Ireland, but I don't think RTÉ ever publicly considered it. But that was about it, irrc.

Not yet. And will not likely be the case.
Russia committed "atrocities" and got kicked out of Eurovision. Years later, Israel is doing the same to the Palestinians, but no one is complaining about it. Their response? "It's just an apolitical song contest!"
FOR REAL, they don't kick Israel out because it's supposed to be apolitical, but they did Russia for "political reasons"? I can't stand the hypocrisy of the apex predators anymore.

Socialist Gestachia wrote:Ahhh yes Eurovision! The shitty show called Eurovision eventhough the "vision" part could just be omitted as you could just use a radio to broadcast garbage music that isn't worth hearing. And what do you know! You can also omit the "Euro" part as well since Israel is in it! (Really shows that Israel is just a glorfied European neo-colony.) With that what do you get? Nothing! Just like what the "show" truly is!

Russia illegally invaded a sovereign nation with genocidal intentions and tactics.
Israel responded to a horrific terrorist attack, and was justified in doing so.

There is nothing "justifiable" about it. Remember Hind Rajab? Remember Sidra Hassouna? Have they done wrong to the world that their death is "justified"?
I won't tolerate Israel's barbaric tactics and ruthless destruction, even if people think it's "justifiable".

You won't believe it, but we actually have a thread dedicated to conversations like these.
