“…Laktaw lumps it forward, still trying to find a consolation if nothing else for this Abanhfleft side. They’ve been thoroughly outclassed by Qasden for the entirety of this game, but there’s still some desire left in there, if only to make things a little less embarrassing than it already is. Julien Lakandula chests it down. He has some space to cut inside… and he’s found the back of the net! Somehow, Julien Lakandula has scored a goal for Abanhfleft! It will be nothing more than a mere consolation, but at the very least, the Revolutionaries will walk away from the 7th Brevity Cup with three goals to their name…”

The 7th Brevity Cup had been a tough competition for the Abanhfleft national football team in general, and for the Laktaw family in particular. James Laktaw, the 20-year old left-sided center back from Sporting Ceneisis (though currently playing for Paulsen FC on loan) had not really covered himself in glory in this tournament, being part of the back line that conceded eight goals in the competition. Half of those had been conceded against the Vans of Qasden, and even James himself would have had to admit that he could have done better with trying to prevent at least one or two of those goals. That said, Qasden was still very much the better team on that day, and even if James and the defense had been able to stop two goals, the Vans still probably would have emerged victorious, albeit with a more respectable scoreline from Abanhfleft’s point of view.

Maybe it would have been better for James if all of that hadn’t happened with his family in attendance, or maybe it wouldn’t have made a difference. But the rest of the Laktaw family was there to witness Abanhfleft’s capitulation in the Royal Kingdom of Quebec at the hands of the Vans: father Randy, mother Leonora, and little brother Arnel. The Samahang Futbol ng Abanhfleft (SFA) had gone all out with providing all-expenses-paid trips for the players’ families in the honestly deluded opinion that Abanhfleft’s stay in Quebec would be a long one, and there was definitely a feeling that a lot of these players’ families felt short-changed about the whole thing, especially after the SFA practically ordered all these people who had come to Quebec on their account back home after the team had been knocked out after playing only three games. At the time, the Laktaw siblings made fun of the situation, but then a few months after the Brevity Cup, Arnel received his call-up for the Fleftic under-18 national team, which was due to take part in the latest edition of the Under-18 World Cup in Tumbra, and Arnel realized that he was about to become part of the bottling machine that is the Abanhfleft national football team setup.

Arnel would be lying if he said that he wasn’t nervous when he set foot on the SFA’s training grounds a short distance away from the May 26 Revolution Stadium in Riuwiee. And he had a lot of reasons to be nervous. Arnel wouldn’t necessarily call himself a shy person, but he definitely wasn’t a social butterfly either. He just liked taking his time with scoping out places and people, trying to get to know them better before he made the commitment to striking up a friendship, or at least trying to strike one up. This wasn’t to say that he didn’t have a lot of friends; he did, but it just so happened that most of them weren’t part of the Fleftic national under-18 team. As far as Arnel could tell, he was the only player from Sporting Ceneisis to have been called up to the team, and while he knew some faces on the training ground as well, those faces belonged to players whom Arnel had played against in the youth league for clubs which were considered rivals of Sporting Ceneisis. Those rivalries weren’t as strong as they were before, but Arnel was still apprehensive about approaching someone from the likes of Riuwiee United, Arsenal de Releinthi, or Wanda Island Wanderers.

“Hey, new kid!” someone called out from the other end of the pitch. Arnel looked and saw someone in the black and blue training jacket of Abanhfleft waving at him to come over. Arnel waved back as he walked over to the guy.

“Welcome to the Abanhfleft national team, kid!” the guy who had waved at Arnel said as the latter arrived, and the two of them shook hands. “This is where we all start to learn how to lose every single game of international football that we’re about to play. Name’s Lance, Lance Capinpin. And you are?”

“Arnel. Arnel Laktaw.”

“Nice. Any relation to James?” Lance asked.

“Yeah, he’s actually my older brother,” Arnel replied.

“Great! So you’re continuing in his footsteps then, I see,” Lance said.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Arnel asked, not sure if he was being pranked or if this was some sort of initiation ritual.

“What I mean is that you are about to join your brother James in adding to Abanhfleft’s football history,” Lance replied. “Oh, come on, man, take it easy! You and your brother aren’t the only siblings that the SFA is about to ruin. See that guy over there? In the red long sleeves? That’s Kory Lakandula, younger brother of Julien Lakandula. Another pair of siblings that Abanhfleft has managed to convince to become part of this massive bottling operation. Damn, man. I don’t know how they do it,” Lance said, smiling while shaking his head at the same time.

“Seriously though, what on earth are you talking about?” Arnel asked. “Okay, I’m familiar with all the Abanhfleft bottling jokes. At this point, who wouldn’t? But now you just sound like you’re talking to talk. I don’t get it, man. I really don’t.”

“Come on, man, that’s easy,” Lance shrugged. “I’m your striker, you’re my winger. You’re gonna be supporting me for the majority of the games we’re going to play in Tumbra. Which might only be three if you think about it, but that’s still three games that the two of us are going to have to work together. I gotta know if you can roll with me, know what I’m saying?”

“Now I’m just even more confused,” Arnel shook his head.

“Hoy, Capinpin!” another voice shouted. “You’re up for the next drill! Stop fucking around and let’s go!”

“Sounds like that’s my cue to go,” Lance said to Arnel. “Don’t think that you’re free of me just yet, man. We forward players will have our own training session later on!” he added as he trotted off to the other side of the pitch. Once Lance had left, another player approached Arnel. This one was wearing goalkeeper’s gloves as well as a bright yellow training bib over his red jacket. “Was he giving you a hard time?” the goalie asked.

“Maybe,” Arnel shrugged. “I’m not really sure what just happened back there.”

“In that case then he was probably just fooling around like he always does,” the goalkeeper muttered. “Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that Lance likes to push buttons, especially with the other forwards. He thinks it’s some sort of team-building thing or whatever. And they say us goalkeepers are the crazy ones… Just don’t take the bait, that’s what I’m trying to say about him.”

“Yeah, I’ll try to keep that in mind,” Arnel nodded hesitantly. “Um, who are you again?”

“Oops! Almost forgot about that,” the goalkeeper said. “Christopher Pabalan, Chris for short,” he added as he extended his hand for Arnel to shake. “And you must be James Laktaw’s little brother.”

“It’s really that obvious, huh,” Arnel muttered as he shook Christopher’s hand. “What an introduction to the national team, right?”

“And that’s just the first guy,” Christopher added. “Wait until you’ve met the rest of us!”

“Great, looking forward to it,” Arnel said with as little enthusiasm as possible. He had always been under the impression that receiving a call-up from the national team was one of the greatest honors that a football player could have outside of actually winning trophies, but for some reason, getting called up to the Abanhfleft national football team felt more like being called to the principal’s office. Or maybe being called to the mental hospital was a more appropriate comparison, considering that the team seemed to be full of nutcases. Or maybe Arnel had just had some bad luck when it came to meeting the weirder characters on the team, and that the rest would be regular Joes just like him. In any case, Arnel had just come to the conclusion that maybe getting called up to play for Abanhfleft was not so great after all. But maybe some time with the team could help turn his perspective around. Who knows? Maybe he could even help this team to a trophy. Now that was some crazy talk.

SEMARLAND NATIONAL U18 FOOTBALL TEAM, OFFICIAL U18 WORLD CUP 21 SQUAD

ImageImageImage
Home - Goalkeeper - Away
Kits kindly manufactured by VUCTI Kits

STAFF:
Manager: Magnus Larsen-Jacobsen, 47
Assistant manager: Isaac Nordland, 39
Coaches: Mekhi Gunness, 39 (General)
Tyrone Pierre, 42 (Goalkeeping)
Johan Andersson, 48 (Fitness)
Physio: Dietrik Nevvik, 36
Scout: Jordan Bannington, 33
A selection of youth coaches who have impressed over the last few years, SFA President Kwame Nelson has hand picked this staffing team himself - who are notably the only staff group within the national team system not to have any individuals at all that represented Semarland internationally. Not that matters of course, these coaches have all proved to be pivotal in their respective prior clubs' youth development systems over recent seasons, and are obviously doing something right if Kwame Nelson himself is calling them up. Manager Magnus Larsen-Jacobsen worked with Cortell Carrasco at Sporting Saint Adrensburg so will likely mirror similar tactics to his old boss, and has already confirmed the same position to shirt number allocation as the senior team.

PLAYERS:
GOALKEEPERS:
#1 - GK - D'Quim Marshall - Age 17 - Krsthaven
#12 - GK - Byrese Bradshaw - Age 17 - FC Jansberg
#13 - GK - Solomon Tsehaye - Age 17 - Molsbik Arkjet
The acrobatic D'Quim Marshall has made great progress at Krsthaven over the past few seasons and has been rewarded with the #1 jersey for his performances, both for club and country with Semarland U17s last year. Byrese Bradshaw is looking to follow in the footsteps of his older brother Ackeme who made his debut for FC Jansberg's first team this year, with both boasting solid shot-stopping skills. Molsbik Arkjet's Solomon Tsehaye, the tallest of the trio, is renowned for his distribution, and whilst Marshall has been given the #1 shirt, it's likely that Larsen-Jacobsen will use the group stages to afford each goalkeeper an equal opportunity, as per custom. Like the last U18 World Cup, Semarland are lucky to have three good options between the sticks, and the SFA have high hopes the trio can progress at a similar rate to their predecessors.

DEFENDERS:
#2 - DR - Rahmell Pascal - Age 16 - FC Nuholm
#3 - DL - Zunell Bright - Age 17 - Molsbik Arkjet
#4 - DC - Lars Outerbridge - Age 17 - FC Jansberg (vc)
#5 - DC - Mohammed Wilkinson - Age 17 - Molsbik Arkjet
#18 - DC - Quon Ferriby-Green - Ae 17 - Kangemark Sport
#19 - DR - Diego Mackie-Bright - Age 16 - Sporting Solsholm
#21 - DL - Elikia-Antoine Jorgensen-Mavoungou - Age 16 - FC Jansberg
#22 - DC - Dion Fenchurch - Age 16 - Krsthaven
FC Nuholm's Rahmell Pascal is one of the younger players in the squad, but comes highly rated as he begins his scholarship with the club this summer. The definition of a modern-day full back, expect plenty of surging runs forward from him and his counterpart on the left-hand side Zunell Bright, of Molsbik Arkjet. Bright is more suited to playing as a wing-back, but has honed the defensive side of his game, receiving praise for his performances last season. Centre-backs Mohammed Wilkinson and Lars Outerbridge certainly aren't lacking in physicality, nor are deputies Dion Fenchurch and Quon Ferriby-Green, so the quartet won't struggle with the more physical opponents they may encounter. The wonderfully (but long) named Elikia-Antoine Jorgensen-Mavoungou and Diego Mackie-Bright will hope for opportunities to impress, with the pair breaking into their club's respective U18 squads in the second half of last season and impressing enough to be rewarded with an international call-up.

MIDFIELDERS:
#6 - DMC - Paul Akinsegun - Age 17 - FC Kolberg (c)
#7 - AMR - Tre Sembie-Parris - Age 16 - FC Nuholm
#8 - MC - Marlon Barnes - Age 16 - Sporting Saint Adrensburg (tc)
#10 - AMC - Mikael Montpelier - Age 17 - Krsthaven
#11 - AML - Jykese Bridge - Age 16 - Krsthaven
#14 - MC - Gatlin Adu-Kuffour - Age 16 - FC Nuholm
#17 - DMC - Jordan Courier - Age 17 - Eikborg Club
#20 - AMC - Yusuf Richie - Age 17 - Molsbik Arkjet
#23 - MC - Parbjorn Lindegaard - Age 16 - FC Jansberg
Captain Paul Akinsegun is perhaps one of the most highly rated in the squad - and the only player to feature for his club's first team last season. Akinsegun is adept at protecting the back four and starting plays from deep in midfield, and will likely start in the centre of the park alongside Sporting Saint Adrensburg's Marlon Barnes. The likes of Gatlin Adu-Kuffour and Parbjorn Lindegaard will both be pushing for a starting place also, whilst Mikael Montpelier and Yusuf Richie will be the main creative outlets through the middle. Holding midfielder Jordan Courier, the sole representative from Eikborg Club, comes into the tournament with a slight knock so will miss the opening two matches, but will be hoping to push on once fit again and his performances last year show why he deserves his call up. On the wings, just two have been included, with Krsthaven's Jykese Bridge (whose older brother Quame broke into Krsthaven's first team last season) and FC Nuholm's Tre Sembie-Parris offering plenty of tricks and flicks down the left and right hand flanks respectively.

FORWARDS:
#9 - ST - Gokhan Enevoldsen - Age 17 - FC Jansberg
#15 - ST - Isaac Boakye-Wilkins - Age 16 - FC Nuholm
#16 - ST - Kyriq Barton - Age 16 - FC York
Gokhan Enevoldsen could be best described as an anomaly. Extremely tall for his age, yet much better with his feet than in the air. Not to say he's not good in the air however, but plenty would not expect someone so tall to be so graceful and nimble on the ball or able to score more with his feet than his head. The FC Jansberg second-year is highly tipped for a first team break through this season, and after a free-scoring campaign last year for the U18s, it's not hard to see why. His younger deputies, Isaac Boakye-Wilkins of FC Nuholm and Kyriq Barton of FC York, are both quick and strong strikers who also boast good technical ability on the ball. Like the goalkeepers, Larsen-Jacobsen is lucky to have three strong options, and will likely rotate them equally throughout the group stages.

STANDBY:
#30 - GK - Soren Wells - Age 16 - FC Matovallanen
#24 - DC - Tyron Danso - Age 16 - FC Kvist Town
#25 - MC - Manuel Johansson - Age 16 - Fransborg set Njilkaer
#26 - ST - Jayden Cartmell - Age 16 - Jansberg Laguna
Four players have been named on standby in case of any serious injury during the group stages. The four will be present for training sessions and will remain with the squad throughout the duration of the tournament. Larsen-Jacobsen has elected to name four sixteen year olds, all of whom representing some of the less "big-name" academies. The quartet all featured on a regular basis for their club's U18 sides, and will hope to gain valuable experience from training and being around the squad during the tournament.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE THAT EVERYONE IN THIS TOURNAMENT SHOULD READ

I will be taking over the hosting of this tournament from Græntfjall. This is in the interest of keeping this tournament moving, and was a decision arrived at after a lengthy discussion between Baker and I. Because there have been zero cutoffs, I will be replicating, to the best of my ability, the original post here. Please do, however, take note of the following notes on the organisation of the tournament.

- The format of the tournament remains unchanged. We will still have 24 participants, even if one has CTE'd, and I will unfortunately not be able to accept any further withdrawals from anyone who may be displeased with me being given hosting rights to the tournament. The groups remain unchanged (though I will be renaming the groups to A through D). There will be five matchdays in the round-robin portion of this tournament. The top three from each group will progress; second-placed teams will play third-placed teams in a playoff round, while group winners receive a bye to the quarterfinals. Knockout round matches will not have extra time, as per the bid; they will go straight to penalties. As in the bid, scorination will use NSFS with additional modifiers. I will be amending the final tiebreaker from "(OOC simulated game)" to "Scorinated game with RP bonus only (excluding roster bonuses) and with draws turned off."

- RP bonus generosity. The bonus system will remain unchanged; while it is not my usual style, up to 5 points will be available for the posting of a roleplay and up to 5 points will be available per cutoff. It will be easy for roleplayers to cross the 2.5 mark for both, but much more difficult to reach 5. My style of grading roleplays is basically: doesn't have to be too long, showing you've read others' roleplays and rosters is a plus, at least some indication that the U18WC is going on, and good RP etiquette. Do not use AI text generators; I will reset your RP bonus to 0 if you do so and is found out. As a substitute for host home advantage, Tumbra will receive an additional 2.5 points to their rank.

- Effective immediately, the tournament will be relocated to Tumbra. I will not penalise, nor will you need to edit, any roleplays that have already established the tournament taking place in Græntfjall. IC'ly, to Tumbra, Græntfjall was suddenly forced to pull out of hosting the tournament and Tumbra stepped in. You may come up with any number of alternative explanations. All posts up to Semarland's roster have been graded.

- Cutoff timings. I intend to cut off every 48 hours at 1400 UTC. The first cutoff, in the interests of time, and seeing that people have already had an additional week to post roleplays and rosters, will be at
1400 UTC on 10 March 2024; i.e., 22 hours from the timing of this post.

- Optional RP prompts. I will unfortunately be unable to provide any additional roleplay prompts for this tournament. However, those wishing to look for additional prompts may refer to this collection of prompts I have written for the International Confederations Cup, which cover a wide variety of worldbuilding topics. Each prompt has a football-specific portion, and a non-sporting alternative.

If there are any questions, complaints, or otherwise, please let them be known on the OOC thread of this tournament. Alternatively, you may telegram me or contact me on the NSS Discord server. The first option is preferred, as not everyone is on, or active on, the Discord server.

This boxed section of the post has been cross-posted to the OOC thread of this tournament.

Rosters
Please consider posting a roster (even if you don't plan on RPing!). It will help your opponents. It does not need to be complex. For a tournament like this, you would typically choose about 23-26 players (including 3 goalkeepers), though OOCly you can bring as many (or few) players as you like. Please consider some basic RP permissions along these lines:
Code: Select all
If my opponent RPs first they may...
Choose my goalscorers Y/N
Give out yellow cards to my players Y/N
Give out red cards to my players Y/N
Injure my players Y/N
Godmode scoring events Y/N
Godmode other events Y/N

Godmoding refers to wacky or unusual incidents outside the realm of normal football. An own goal is probably not a godmode. An own goal that bounces off a passing goose into the net is probably a godmode. If in doubt, message your opponent and ask. Final decision rests with the host.

Roleplaying
You may begin roleplaying. Roleplaying will give your team more points and (theoretically) more chance of winning, though the random number generator basis of the scorinator means there's no guarantee! Please do not use AI text generators.

A VISITOR'S GUIDE TO TUMBRA

LOCATED in central Esportiva, the Federal Republic of Tumbra is a sprawling, modern democratic republic of a hundred and twenty-one million people. Comprising twenty-five states, twelve stadiums have been allocated to the hosting of the World Cup. A full map of the country can be found here.

Airports, Getting To and Travelling Within Tumbra

Tumbra is a country of many climates; cold in the north, temperate in the middle and warm in the south. The sparkling, white-sanded beaches of the south and eastern coast, the mountains of the west and the boundless plains of central Tumbra also offer dazzling tourist spots if you wish to just relax. There's also the more metropolitan cities, chock-full of culture and nightlife for the less nature-inclined amongst visitors.

Getting to Tumbra would usually entail taking a plane from an airport; Tumbra has twelve international airports, the locations of which can be found in the above factbook. To get to destinations not provided by airport, high-speed rail that travels up to about 320km/h offers transport to all eleven cities hosting a match, ensuring comfort, speed and reliability to get your players to their matches on time. Within cities, most cities have at least some form of mass rapid transit or light rail that forms the basis of their transport system.

Should you still wish to travel by car, Tumbra uses left-hand drive, and verifiable international licenses are a prerequisite to hire a car. Expressways to each of the major cities do exist, though...trains also exist...and are faster...

IF your nation comes from Esportiva, Tumbra can be reached within four to six hours' flight; if it comes from the regions of Anaia, Arrosia, Rushmore or Mandalanunsa, then Tumbra can be reached from anywhere from six to twelve hours' flight; and for countries from outside the five sporting regions, then flights to Tumbra will take twelve hours or more.

All visitors with a valid ticket will be given a visa; for those attending multiple matches, the visa will be extended accordingly. Tickets will be apportioned fairly; 40% to each team, and 10% will be sold to Tumbrans, with the remaining 10% to others. Ticket scalping is, of course, illegal; should one come across such an act of ticket scalping, then call 999 (the number for the Police in Tumbra).

Culture and Laws
The policing in each state is run by the state governments, though they are all run to a unified federal code, which standardises most equipment and techniques. Federal laws will apply here; some of the more important ones are...

  • The age to buy alcohol and tobacco is set at 18 years.
  • The age of consent is 18 years. Prostitution is legal.
  • The status of marijuana, surprisingly for Tumbra, is vague and depends on the state. In general, the further east you go, the more likely it is that marijuana usage is legal. The usage of medical marijuana, however, is legalised throughout all states.
  • The importation of alcohol and tobacco is illegal without declaration; and there are strict limits on the amount. Importation of marijuana is illegal; the same goes for other hard drugs.
  • There is a blanket ban on assault weapons in Tumbra, and no importation is allowed.

The currency of Tumbra is the Tumbran Dollar, with the exchange rate being set at 1 NSD to 1.33 TMD. There is a ten per cent consumption tax on all items; usually it is factored into the price of the item.

Should there be any other questions, please contact VisitTumbra.com.

CITIES AND STADIUMS: IN DEPTH
(Starts with Straton, then goes clockwise in order of the map)

STRATON
The country's capital, Straton sometimes gets an unfair reputation for being overly gray. It's understandable, of course — most federal government buildings are distinguishable by the exact same material used to clad their walls, a sort of gray slate that's given members of the civil service a somewhat dour nickname of "The Grey Men." Regardless, there is fun here if it's looked for; the northern part of the city, which is home to the country's biggest and most prestigious post-1864 university is known for being the main place where fun happens; and, well, failing that, there's always the country's largest observation wheel, standing tall at 169m and pretty much defining the city's skyline. Most institutions of national importance are housed here; including the National Air and Space Museum, co-located with the National Science Museum, the Natural History Museum, National Arts Gallery, and so on. All three branches of government are housed here, too; as well as most monuments to the country's founding fathers, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, commemorating lives lost during the Civil War.

The Eagles' Club (88,000)
The shiny new toy of the Tumbran national team, the Eagles' Club was completed somehow ahead of schedule and below cost, in a miracle to both the taxpayer and authorities. Set in a district of its own, surrounded by a lush park, museum dedicated to Tumbran football history and with train links directly into the heart of the city and to the airport that serves the giant conurbation that is Straton-Serrapince, the Eagles' Club is the most modern stadium of its kind. Clad in a white, colour-changing exterior, the stadium is fully sheltered, has a giant arch over its top and has almost every comfort you would want for a stadium-going experience.

SERRAPINCE
Home to the city's financial industry — which directly means that the city is also known for its debauchery and nightlife (what do you expect when you have a heavy concentration of people in the financial sector in close proximity to each other?), Serrapince is Tumbra's second largest city, but one that's still diverse enough to essentially be an everycity. Of particular interest to tourists would probably be the spiky building known as the Modern Hedgehog, but really is the Serrapince Museum of Modern Art, which serves as the country's largest collection of art produced post-1950. Or, as some more traditional critics would call it, "art". Apart from that, the country's largest Yoshiman Garden is located here, as well as Exhibition House, a giant glass building that was built in 1882 for the country's turn at hosting the Universal Exposition.

Serrapince Park (74,500)
The distinctive yellow pylons provide this stadium with its exterior. Completed in the 1970s as the capstone of Serrapince's project to monopolise the football market in the area, it now provides one of the most intimidating atmospheres in Tumbran football, with the northern stand being home to Serrapince's "ultras". Located in a giant athletics and sporting complex, Serrapince Park forms the main part of the sporting district of the city; and remains the focal point of the club's attempts to dominate the Tumbran football scene.

HESHAM
Despite its size and proximity to Lakewood, Hesham is seen as a relatively laid-back city, more than content to let time pass it by. This is where Clearmont's agricultural industry — carried mostly by wheat — sends its cargo for it to be exported to the world. It's lost a bit of its cultural identity as time's gone on and Lakewood has begun to slowly subsume the city into the amorphous blob that is Greater Lakewood, but locals will never let anyone forget that modern Tumbran football was born here; after all, the meeting between club executives that formed the first-ever league competition was held here. Perhaps unsurprisingly with all that wheat passing through the city, it's got a high amount of breweries; and also the highest number of pubs per capita in Tumbra.

George Bowen Stadium (40,000)
Named after Hesham FC's longest-serving manager who delivered the club its only title and later saved the club from bankruptcy, the Ploughmen's arena with its distinctive bright green seats is a more rectangular effort than most. Distinctive for its bright green pylons that run along the outside of the stadium, it's a bit denser than most stadiums - only having one tier throughout it.

LAKEWOOD
The powerhouse of the South East, Lakewood made its fortunes during the Industrial Revolution (which arrived late on this country's shores — thanks, empire!) due to the burgeoning textile industry that was essentially spawned large waves of migration to the city. It helped that Lakewood was one of the few ports where immigrants to the country were able to be processed, alongside Nantwich and Couno; meaning that the city, more than others, has become more of a cultural melting pot than others. It's grown so large in recent years that the city's suburbs have essentially spilled over into Hesham; the two form what is essentially a giant urban conurbation. Helps that the same international airport serves both cities.

Lakewood City Arena (58,000)
Home to Lakewood United's rivals Lakewood City, the LCA was a more modern construction; only being completed in 2005. It, therefore, looks nicer than Trenton Park; but the diatribes launched against it say that it's a soulless atmosphere. Supports of City point to their attendance records and recent success. It is equipped with all the comforts of a modern stadium, really; and it's located closer to Lakewood's city centre than Trenton Park.

Trenton Park (74,500)
Trenton Park is home to Lakewood United, historically the most successful team in Tumbra. A massive, sprawling colosseum, its differently shaped ends do make it look a bit dated, but gives it a lot of its charm — it began life over a hundred years ago, and was added to, piece by piece. Fans label this stadium "The House That Stephenson Built," referring to the longest-serving manager of Lakewood United, Ben Stephenson. The acoustics here are also excellent, adding to the atmosphere here.

KINGSBURY
The old imperial capital, Kingsbury's Historic Quarter is worth a whole afternoon on its own. The last castle of the Terenbergs (the old imperial family) was located here; nowadays it's a walkthrough museum, which takes a surprisingly neutral tone on the whole royalty thing. One of the wings of the castle has been converted into a public library, which probably shows the amount of attention the royals receive these days. Apart from that, there's the Kingsbury Cathedral, which is the seat of Emberican Christianity and the Archbishop of Kingsbury; though it's probably telling of religion's place in public life that nobody gives a toss about them either.

Fletcher Park (45,000)
In a city full of history, the somewhat more modern-looking Fletcher Park stands out in the country. Located somewhat near the heart of the city, the stadium was recently expanded to fit 45,000 people. That was the latest in the long line of rebuilds, going from a bowl-shaped stadium in a natural valley to a much smaller, almost entirely white stadium with a curving roof; instantly giving the stadium a recognisable facade.

BENCOOLEN
The most colourful (and gayest) of Tumbra's cities, Bencoolen is possibly the most liberal place in the country. Many social movements that eventually grew to become nationwide movements began here; women's liberation in the 60s and gay rights in the 80s can all trace their origins to this city. Most well known for the litany of low-rise, pastel-coloured houses that dot the seafront, as well as the tight, windy high-rise apartment buildings that are so close together it doesn't really feel like a Tumbran city, Bencoolen is different from the rest of the country, and likes to make it known. Try sailing, or watersports; the surfing culture is strong here, and the sport of yachting is mostly concentrated here as well.

Bencoolen City Stadium (55,000)
The smallest of all of Tumbra's twenty-five states, Bencoolen's stadium also includes an athletics track; which, unfortunately, puts distance between the supporters and the players on the pitch. There have, however, been plans mooted to install temporary seating for football matches; though with Tumbra's multiversal sporting ambitions, this may come later, rather than sooner, and if at all.

FONTWELL
The biggest city in the West, Fontwell's an underrated gem of a city; and it's also probably one of the best places in Tumbra to learn about a side of the country's history that sometimes flies under the radar — the Western Republic. The Museum of Western History is located here, and it's chock-full of almost everything the uninitiated would need to know about the unrecognised republic, which fought a guerilla war against the Empire of Tumbra in its waning days, and contributed heavily to the latter's losses in the brutal civil war. Apart from that, why not try looking at the automobile industry? Cheap foreign imports have shrunk the domestic market somewhat these days, but the legacy is still there — Carlton Motors still chugs out variations of the Carlton Cross, the original Tumbran car, and they've got a fantastic museum as well.

Stokers' Park (52,000)
Perhaps one of the most unique Tumbran stadiums, Stokers' Park — officially the WesternOil Power Station, but adopting this as its original name for sponsorship purposes — is built from the remains of a converted factory. It provides one of the most unique stadium-going experiences because of this; Stokers' Park is often referred to as the "smokehouse of Western football". With an exterior of red brick, large glass windows which now hold murals to the Fontwell Rovers, and with chimneys that puff out smoke on matchdays, Stokers' Park presents a uniquely industrial view on Tumbran football and where most of its clubs originated. It does get a little hot on the inside, however.

MILLSBURGH
One of Tumbra's 'forgotten cities', Millsburgh was the home of the now-flagging Tumbran steel industry; it now potters on, though the chemicals industry still goes strong in the north. It's probably the least tourist-friendly city out of the eleven host cities — no dedicated airport, nothing really exciting to do on the surface — but there is the National Museum of Steel here. And bridges. Lots of bridges. The city can get fairly cold, but one thing the city does excel in is the sheer amount of flora in its borders; it's shed most of its dreary reputation gained in the previous century, and the streets are lined with trees and grass. In autumn, it's really pretty. In summer, they do provide a good amount of shade from the sun.

Two Rivers Stadium (42,000)
Accusations that the government intervened to give Millsburgh two group stage matches for political considerations, directly resulting in Columbia (a city on the country's southern coast with an ultramodern 50,000 capacity stadium) missing out on the World Cup have dogged this particular city. But that shouldn't distract from the fact that, the Two Rivers Stadium is a fantastic multi-purpose stadium regardless. Appropriately situated at the fork of two rivers that defines Millsburgh, the stadium is a circular, concrete affair with entry ramps that hug its exterior. It may look dated — certainly a fresh coat of paint on the bare concrete wouldn't go amiss — but the acoustics inside provide a ear-rumbling affair for those lucky enough to visit.

RIDGEWELL
A northern powerhouse, Ridgewell used to be the gateway to the world for Tumbran coal and steel; but with manufacturing fleeing to less expensive countries, and the coal mines closing thanks to The Eighties (and a focus on renewables this century), it's struggled to redefine itself. It's still the largest city in the North, though, and an effort to pivot the city towards tech and research has given it a new lease of life. For tourists, the main attraction in this area is the historic Wyndham Castle, located on the outskirts of the city; it's been stunningly well preserved, and historical demonstrations of medieval life occur every Saturday. Helps that a flea market sets up shop every weekend there too.

Kensington Stadium (46,000)
Built in the 1990s to great fanfare, the Kensington Stadium is a more utilitarian affair than most; simple, steel columns line the stadium's exterior, and a flat, rectangular roof covers spectators. Everything about this stadium seems to be rectangular; the roof, the exterior columns; even the four taller steel spires that provide support for the roofs at each end seem to be extremely rectangular. This makes seating extremely tight, however; and adds a lot to the atmosphere of matches.

NANTWICH
A naval city through and through, Nantwich essentially made its name from two things: shipbuilding and having a naval base on its outskirts. Both industries, perhaps miraculously, survive to the present day; and Nantwich has always had a more gritty, subdued vibe to it. That hasn't stopped it from becoming one of Tumbra's largest cities in the midwest; and it helps that the food here's cheap, as well. For attractions: Deep-dish "Nantwich-style pizza" may seem like a cultural travesty to anyone from outside the state (to say nothing of the Grande Cucinans, who steadfastly refuse to refer to it as "pizza" and prefer the term "pie"), but it's a refreshing take on the ever-popular dish, invented, ironically, by someone from Grande Cucina who couldn't find a proper pizza pan when he first arrived in the city.

Nantwich Stadium (64,000)
Widely renowned for the four helical ramps around each side of the edifice and imposing roof structure with black girders jutting out on each end, the Nantwich Stadium is home to FC Inter Nantwich; and is an imposing home to one of the league's strongest teams. With its four sides rising high above the players, the stands can almost feel like they're closing in on the players. An imposing mental challenge, indeed.

COUNO
Couno is Tumbra's largest city — there's a little bit of something for everyone here. Go for a long walk along the majestic Promenade, complete with statue walks; or head up the hill on the opposite side of the skyline and stadium for a bit of nature. Don't miss the majestic Couno Harbour Bridge, though it's pretty difficult to do that; it's literally everywhere in the city's marketing. Seafood lovers should pay a visit to the Couno Fish Market, where the day's freshest catches are hauled in every morning for hungry tourists and shoppers alike. Further inland, there's Tumbra's biggest amusement park, Galaxy Studios (one of three in the country), complete with rides from your favourite entertainment franchises.

Couno Port Stadium (54,500)
The Couno Port Stadium is distinctive enough that it forms part of the Couno skyline by itself. Located on a wharf, the stadium itself was recently reconstructed in 2016, which expanded its capacity to the 54,500 it is today. Home to the Couno Rangers, with one of the most passionate supporter fanbases in Tumbra, the unique location on the harbourfront provides a unique opportunity for many a football fan. Watch out for the single-tier Red Wall located behind the west goal; that's where you'll see some of the most impressive fan displays in the country.

Manager - Boromir Zdanic

Boromir Zdanic has had a long history as a coach in FK Metropola Borograd's academy, and is selected to take charge of the U18 squad for the upcoming tournament in Tumbra. Zdanic is a well-praised leader of men who has held a key role in the development of many top Metropola players, including Sobeslav Volf, Andrey Bunev and Blahoslav Zak. Once a player himself who could not break through to the next level, Zdanic decided to retire early to focus on his coaching career which has been a big success. While the squad is missing some key pieces who will be competing at the Di Bradini Cup, the STFA has put together a squad that features several stars of the future. It starts at the back, where Benedikt Tannenberg has been viewed as an excellent leader already at such a young age, often wearing the armband for his club, and he'll serve as the captain here too. Hochzoll, Teussen's youth academy, is well represented here: Lutz Wolff is another in a long line of strong midfielders with excellent technical ability, while Falko Meier will serve an important role as the backup forward. When it was announced that Timotej Zakaijev would play at the DBC and not the U18s, there were many questions as to where the goals would come from: however, that problem seems to be solved. The star of the team will be Dusan Korlikov, the Zvezda Vlaikograd winger who is expected to come off the bench for his club in their domestic campaign this year. The speedy winger is excellent at knowing just when to cut in, and has a great shot on him too - he can be expected to get some scoring done. There's also a bit of a surprise name here - for several reasons. Xôrgé Lé Méjî is not a name you would typically see on an S&T teamsheet, but the young S&T/Farf man who has been a star for Rulandea Karlsbrunnen as they had an excellent campaign in the Regionalliga has found his way to the national team. Lé Méjî is a midfielder who loves to get forward and find the back of the net himself, a dynamic role that is quite unique in this country. In preparation matches, Lé Méjî worked quite well both with forward Veselin Orsenik and Lutz Wolff, and fits well into a more offensive-minded side under Boromir Zdenic. With little in the way of expectations on the team, they can play with the freedom to give their best with every match and hopefully make the return to this level of football a special one.

The players on the Sarzonian Under 18 national football team were all new to international competition, but they figured something wasn't right.

It had been several days since the competition was originally slated to begin in Græntfjall, and here they were in Tumbra. The only news Manager Walter Garrison passed onto his team was the change in venue. They weren't apprised of when their opening match was, where it was, or whom they were playing.

"What the," defender Danny Haley asked before captain Max Wilcox put his hand up in a stop motion. "We've been waiting for a long ass time to get out on the pitch! What gives?"

"There've been some problems in Græntfjall," Wilcox said. "That's all I know about it. Believe me, if I knew something, I'd let you know."

"It's frustrating!" midfielder Marco Amato said. "First, we go to Græntfjall. Then they tell us to check out the hotel and get on the plane to Tumbra. Now we get less than 48 hours notice that we're playing Crpostan."

"Crpostran," Wilcox said.

"Whatever!"

"Look, I'm just as frustrated as you are," Wilcox said.

"At least you've been studying while we're waiting to go play!" Amato retorted.

"Hey, that's enough!" goalkeeper Dalton Collier interjected, frowning as he put his right hand up and stood between Amato and Wilcox. Collier' 6-foot-4 frame meant he towered over the much shorter Amato. "We're all mates here. We don't need to get on each other!

"We're all anxious about not playing," Collier suggested. "If we really are playing Crpostan or Crpostran or whatever they call themselves tomorrow like the Tumbrans said, that'll help."

Meanwhile, the managerial staff were no less tense about the lack of news from the Incorporated Football Federation. Garrison slammed the phone receiver in his hotel room in frustration when Marcus Danley, the team's technical director had no explanation for Garrison.

"I wish the son of a bitch would give me a f--" Garrison said before he caught himself. He heard a buzz on his mobile phone. He looked and saw the text that gave the details he'd just spent a half hour battling in vain with Danley to obtain. After making a couple of phone calls, he texted info to Wilcox. The team would gather for breakfast at 7 a.m. They would get on the bus at 8:15 and ride to the stadium.

Wilcox read the text from Garrison, then stood up in the centre of the room.

"Breakfast at 7," he said. "We're getting on the bus to the stadium at 8:15 for the match against Crpostran."

"About time!" several players exclaimed in unison.

It was about time. The long, interminable wait was finally almost over for Sarzonia and the Toddler Stars. At least they knew who, where and when they were playing. That was a far cry from a few minutes ago.

Baptism by Fire

HUElavia enters the U18 World Cup facing a difficult group in what can promise to be a great tournament.

It's been a while since HUElavia has had a young team to look forward to. Not since the Golden Generation and the players that immediately came afterwards has there been optimism among the more hardcore fans of HUElavian Football. After the unprecedented success by the HUElavian National Football team at World Cup 95 with the historic Quarter-Finals run, there had been many children partaking in youth academies organized by the major clubs throughout the country. Coming into this tournament, there is much to be studied by this new group of players.

So, the HUElavian Football Association has appointed legendary HUElavian NT player Raul Nascimento Jardim to manage the U18 football team. He had previously served as the head coach for International Curumba, as well as FC Santos before being bought out by the HFA and being appointed to the position. For the time being, Nascimento will be overseeing the U18 teams moving forward for future editions, barring any opportunities that may come. Former NT players and teammates Lucas Noffke and Lourdes Simsuangco Duarte will be joining as his assistants, as the three will seek to bring out the best out of the young crop of players.

Some of these players that the HUElavian faithful will be looking out for includes: Thibault Ancel, known for his reflexes and one-on-one specialty; Isabela Teixeira Câmara, having excellent marking and strength to dispossess opponents with relative ease; Sae Oh, one of the players that has earned senior appearances and has shown excellent vision when passing and sending in crosses; and Nwoye Uchee, a massive forward that can give lethal strikes and can be a threat at any angle for opponents. While the list was made, there was an error where a 19 year old was put into the roster, which turned out to be a mistake by an intern who helped making the list, citing "feeling exhausted late at night when reviewing and submitting the list for Coach Nascimento and the HFA to send the official list to the tournament organizers." This since has been corrected, with the inclusion of Auka Tomayro Pinto, a promising striker from Northern HUElavia.

Originally, the hosting rights were given to Graentfjall to organize and host the tournament and a group stage draw was also completed. But, due to organizational and logistical issues, they had to abdicate their hosting duties, which was quickly given to Tumbra, a fine nation that has had experience in hosting tournaments in the Multiverse. Thus, HUElavia will now be traveling to Esportiva, as they will be in Group B with the likes of United States of Devonta, Abanhfleft, Sarzonia, Crpostran, and the Commonwealth of Baker Park. Out of these matches, Abanhfleft is the most major match of the Group Stage, given the long history Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos has had with them. It's been a mixed bag recently when it comes to results, but it is certainly one of the more tantalizing matchups in this tournament. Sarzonia and Baker Park are very storng and respectable opponents that can serve to be difficult for the team, but it is a fair match nonetheless. Crpostran has been on the rise in recent times and can be a wild card in this group.

Ridgewell, Millsburgh, and Fontwell will be the venues to host matches in Group B, and there is much interest to take in with the cities. From the automobile factories and civil war scars of Fontwell, to the beautiful flora surrounded by steel factories of Millsburgh, to the historic Wyndham Castle and the quaint flea markets of Ridgewell, these cities will serve as a starting point to this promising team.

In a land of many different temperatures, Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos will seek to go on a hot streak into a deep run and make the most of what they have. Here's to a promising and fun U18 World Cup.

U18's forced into change of plan
by Travis Mosely
The Weekend Post Soccer Correspondent

The best laid plans can be affected by circumstances out of the control of the organizers and the Under-18 World Cup is not immune to such unexpected disruptions.

Many of the teams from the nations entered into the U18WC had already arrived in Graintfjall when the FAC were advised by the government that it would be impractical for the tournament to commence due to security concerns.

Tumbra stepped in quickly with an offer to assume the responsibility of hosting and arrangements were made to cover the costs of transporting the various team squads from Rushmore to Esportiva.

The tournament will operate under the same process that was originally arranged under the hosting agreement with Graintfjall, but now in a different nation with different host cities.

The Commonwealth squad arrived in Ridgewell in northern Tumbra, where they will face Devonta in their opening match as they seek to capture their third U18WC title having finished third and second in the two most recent past editions.

"I've always hated unequal standards. How people are treated with double standards depending on whether they are closer or further away of power. How those in more powerful positions can get away with many things, yet are allowed to do what they want, subvert and mould the system to their liking. The big boys have always done with us what they wanted, even when we had the chance they trampled on our pride and made a joke of us. They fail, they get headpats and a 'well done, at least you tried'. We, the small, are different. If we fail the world falls upon us, with no chance of redemption of amends. 'You're hopeless, just quit, you're embarrassing ourselves' is what some say. But we didn't care. We took what they didn't want and turned it into something of our own, which we want and value in the way it deserves."

These words, said by Pedro Danmartin, the Mayor of Castell and former president of Highcastle United, were the first of the presentation he made to dozens of local businessmen at the meeting to present the new name of the town's team, Union Castell, and prospect sponsorships and investments for the club. After buying the team originally known as RBC Soria, the Town Hall of Castell planned to use the team to promote the city. However, some miscommunication with the former owner of the team caused a problem. But come to think of it: Everything about this team was always a problem before reaching the town of Castell.

"What we did was something incredible, all the magic in the world couldn't do, if magic even exists. We gave a soul to something that didn't have one. We took an artificial project, about to be discarded, and we're making it a of success! To give you an idea of the problem we had on our hands in the beginning, look, to this day we cannot display the team's first badge without this blur on the old sponsor." - said the mayor, getting some laughter from those present.

Frank Herzl, a businessman of Norican origin, owner of the license for a famous energy drink company, saw the opportunity to start a football team on the occasion of the Exiles Cup, an event aimed at expat communities who wanted to place their teams in the then L3 ( currently, the National League 2). The team came third in the competition, failing to get a place (interestingly for another Norican team, FC Styria), but in the following season, they were invited to the same L3.

With the end of the energy drink license, Herzl was no longer interested in the team and had to change the team's identity to avoid problems with image rights. However, driven by his own creativity instead of considering the buyers' opinion, he changed the team's name, thinking of "gifting" the new owners. One of those eccentric types, he thought it would be interesting to put a Britannian name, Highcastle United, on the team, to then sell it to a commune with a considerable number of immigrants and Gallienese descendants. His "boldness" cost him dearly, however. He was forced to renegotiate the terms of the contract and reduce the sales price by 30%, as he had displeased the buyers (he later managed to stop the loss at 20% with a formal apology). Even if a little displeased with the change, the town bought the club, and is having a reasonable success with it.

Image
In his speech, Danmartin started by addressing exactly the costs of keeping a team, minimizing it compared to the benefits it brings to the town.
"When you think of a football team that was sold, you immediately think of astronomical values. It cost less than it would have cost to establish the entire personnel structure, from scratch. Membership fees, licenses, these things, generally cost a lot of money. of money in Soria. Our initial cost was within what was planned to be used, with financing from the National Sports Support Fund. In Castell, it is possible not only to maintain the team with lower costs, but with the club's functions aligned in the management of the Commune, we can use it as part of people's daily lives. Each citizen is a potential member of the club. Students from our high schools are already in the club. Physical education classes are developed in partnership with club coaches, and they are effectively bringing results. Castell United U18 participated in their first international competition recently. We had federation coaches scouting them, and we have three of them going to the U18 World Cup, in Tumbra. And they are our boys, they're children from this town. Castell United came to give them an opportunity, and I'm happy that we're doing it."

Danmartin also addressed the main football teams of the club, both male and female, in his presentation.
"And it's not just about athletes for the future. Today's athletes are also part of the team. Castell United has such a pioneering project, that even before the FLF ordered the bigger teams to maintain women's departments, we already did everything to get our women's team into Starleague. And it's a practically 100% local team. Those who weren't born here moved to Castell, bag and baggage. Our men's team, you've seen the trophy, is the current Liga Nacional 2 champions. We reached the second division right now, and we'll face some teams that had nice flights in the Premiership, like the super-rich club Beaumont Athletic, Victoria Kasandora, traditional teams like Pines Athletic and even Oeste from Despina, since they were relegated. It's sad for them, but great for us. We're getting more TV time right now. And our intention is to continue financing the project from now on through public-private partnerships. We want to bring responsible companies interested in sport to be our sponsors. If we are going to advertise, let it be good companies. We do not and will not accept offers from bookmakers appearing on our shirts, this is not the example we want to set for our girls and boys."

It remains to be seen whether Danmartin's appeal will have had any effect. I imagine that if the Castell United boys perform well in the U18 World Cup, the team's chances will increase a little.

Extra strange opener for Fillies,
by Caitlyn Dufresne, Concord Heights Times

After a lengthy delay, the RTC World Cup finally began last night, and for most of the nations participating, the only weird thing about it is that there game was in Tumbra, and not in Graintfjall. It was a little different for Cassadaigua. Because their opponent.... was Graintfjall. There are still a lot of unanswered questions about what will happen with that nation, but all of us certainly are praying for the best. These questions forced the tournament to have to move out of Rushmore, and into Esportiva, to Tumbra. We have heard a lot from various teams about having already made the trip to the Graintfjall, and being inconvenienced and all of that, but no one has really talked about you, the fans. Before I get started with talking about the game, I interviewed a lot of people who were prepared to attend games.

“We spent money on air travel, and on a hotel,” Rachel Cannolli, from Sterling Heights told me, “that’s money that we are not going to get back. We’re trying, but the airline says that they did what they were contracted to do, which was to transport us there, and I am not going to argue that point, but still, look at us. We’re freakin’ screwed.”

Meghan Jordan, of Brattleboro, responded, “You know, RTC is a sponsor of the competition, and it’s time that RTC compensates fans for the travel losses. I should not have to pull teeth trying to get my money back. Getting it from the venue is hard enough.”

Other comments were similar, and CASE President Stephanie Sweeney wants the organizers to step up and compensate fans who traveled to Graintfjall, not just for tickets that were purchased, but for the other expenses that go with it. “It’s not necessarily the responsibility of the organizers in Tumbra who have stepped up to the plate to host the games in their country. This means that they are going to be generating revenue and profits, and I implore them to do the right thing and not make their pockets fatter with it, but to actually give money back to people who can prove that they are out money for going to a location where the tournament was originally scheduled. Then, they can go to the general organizers and look to recoup some of that money, but the fans should not have to feel like that they have to go all the way to the top for compensation. I also think the Regional Transit Corporation should play a part in the compensation, too. Do the right thing with the fans.” CASE has announced that they will compensate the family members of the players that made the trip, as Sweeney said, “We’re getting the ball rolling with that. It’s not cheap for family to attend these games and to travel, and just because you might look at them as potentially becoming rich when their kids make it to the big time, these are teenagers and the big time is not assured, and the parents don’t have those funds yet. We will then look to the tournament organizers as a whole, not the Tumbran organizers of this tournament, and look to be compensated in return.”

If fans are wondering if they have legal recourse,
attorney Carlee Rizzo says that can be a very complicated thing, “Unfortunately, there’s a difficult situation going on in Graintfjall that we pray will meet a pleasant resolution. When it comes to the legal rights of the fans in this instance, it is tricky because Cassadagan law does not apply. Obviously, the tickets must be reimbursed. We know that, and if any are not, then I don’t care who you are, you definitely have legal recourse. Otherwise, the airlines do not need to reimburse you. They are only obligated to provide you air transporation, and they did so. The hotels are not obligated to reimburse you. They are only obligated to provide you lodging, and they did so. You can ask them to try and do the right thing, but from a legal standpoint, the fans do not have a case outside of tickets. What’s next, demanding to be compensated for a meal in Graintfjall because you would not have gone to the restaurant if the RTC tournament wasn’t there? It’s a tough situation for them, and maybe the airlines could give you a voucher or something, but the hotels definitely have no obligation.”

The Vice President of Public Relations at Dagan Airways, Lauren Fischer, said on the matter, “We feel terrible for the fans that went to Graintfjall to witness games that were not played. We are in discussions now within our organization about what we can do for them, but as others have stated and realized, we did our part and provided the transportation. We have allowed cancellations on flights to Graintfjall that had not departed yet, with no penalty. If there is anything else we can do, we will announce it in the coming days.” Some believe and hope that Dagan Airways, which has the most flights of any Cassadagan airline to Graintfjall, will give a voucher of some value to fans. One thing that they have done is matched the ticket price for flights to Tumbra, as they are to Graintfjall. Costs are typically around 25-30% from Cassadaigua to Tumbra due to it being a flight to Esportiva, while Graintfjall is still in Rushmore.

When it came time to play the game, the Fillies lined up against a group of kids from Graintfjall who were expecting to be cheered on by their home fans, not only in this game, but for the entire tournament. If it has been difficult for any team taking part in the RTC Cup, those difficulties pale in comparison to what these kids were feeling. No one knew who they were, but the Cassadagan players made sure to shake their hands and even friendly hugs before the game ever began in understanding of the agony that they were in. Once the game began, the pink and black played their game, and dominated play for ninety minutes. Typically, you would not see this kind of lopsided effort against a team from Graintfjall, but the players on their team are obviously struggling right now with what is going on in their home nation. The fact that they were even out there to begin with was brave and heroic. But as for the play, it was indeed, all Cassadaigua. The Fillies picked up goals by Kellie Guzman in the 16th minute, Crystal Bowers in the 40th, and Hannah Lindgren in the 64th. A potential fourth goal in the 75th minute from Mikayla Thompson was nullified to the play being offsides, something that was indeed the correct call. The final score reads 3-0, a positive start for the Fillies. Afterwards, Crystal Bowers summed up the thoughts of the team, “I feel so bad for them (Graintfjall), and what they had to go through. I am so proud that they are still here to represent their great country. May it forever be strong. It is in our thoughts and prayers.”

Cassadaigua’s second game is against the little known nation of Conania.

HansAir

HansAir Gets You There

HansAir, one of Siovanija & Teusland’s newest and most popular airlines, is pleased to announce a bid for the title sponsorship of the Under-18 World Cup for the upcoming 3-year period.

Our Story

Hans Metzkopf, a Stelburg businessman and executive, estimates that he flew ‘millions’ of hours between Stelburg and Borograd, the capital of Siovanija & Teusland, in his previous job. Millions of hours flown on old AirRepublika planes, and a ridiculous cost - the 1hr 20m journey often upwards of T250 depending on the dates booked. Hans had a dream - a better experience, for none of the cost.

Of course, our bold CEO was not the first to dream of such an endeavor. There was Sudwestlich, an airline that was marketed towards business travelers in the Glorious Southwest, connecting airports in Stelburg and Borograd to partner nations like Valanora and Banija. But what about the leisure traveler? And were the fares on Sudwestlich really as low as they could be? At that point, you might as well just take AirRepublika - it had a better on-time rating anyways.

Hans watched on, disappointedly, at the state of air travel in the country. Then, suddenly, opportunity arose. Isolation led to Sudwestlich going under, and AirRepublika slashing international routes due to the decrease in business connections. Hans could sense a revolution coming in the airline industry - and like the great businessman he is, struck immediately. He purchased the entirety of the former Sudwestlich fleet, as well as several planes from AirRepublika, under a new banner - HansAir.

The new airline became a massive hit. The initial campaign included T5 flights from Stelburg to Borograd, as well as a ‘golden ticket’ 99t offer available to the first 5 tickets sold on every flight from Teusland to Siovanija and vice versa. Soon enough HansAir flights were full of business travelers, students, families and more, with domestic travel made as simple as taking the train. A lighthearted social media presence has also made HansAir gain attention nationwide.

Two elements have been key to HansAir’s success. Firstly, we have dared to go beyond the ‘norm’ of national airlines. Many airports in this country have been heavily neglected by AirRepublika: just look at Reinbronn Airport. Almost directly halfway between Stelburg and St. Jakob, this airport is perfectly suited for the massive metropolitan area extending along the Drai River valley between the cities. And yet AirRepublika served it with just 3 flights a week, all to Borograd, and otherwise with a shuttle bus. HansAir has upped this to 3 flights a day, making this airport one of our busiest spots. Felsenkirchen, the old port city and international gateway - an afterthought for Sudwestlich and AirRepublika, a priority for HansAir.

Secondly, it’s the ease with which HansAir allows you to travel. When you book with HansAir, you don’t just book a flight. Let’s take a look at Vrnovo, for example. The capital of the southern islands, this city is a haven for leisure travel all year round: a unique culture, warm beaches 365 days a year, and arguably the best nightlife in the country. When you book a flight from Felsenkirchen to Vrnovo (standard fare T20), you can also book with any of our partner hotels in the city. Presenting a valid HansAir round-trip ticket can also get you up to 20% off on several local attractions. It’s all part of our HansAir philosophy - getting you there.

There’s only one way to go for HansAir - up. With an impeccable safety record, and with such rapid success at home, the company has picked up the rights to many of Sudwestlich’s former routes and hopes to gradually expand into the international market. With a clear vision - connecting the world, not just Siovanija & Teusland, through expansion of routes and strategic alliances with other budget carriers where possible, HansAir hopes to become the leading name in safe, basic global budget aviation.

Why the U18 World Cup?

HansAir is known for bold statements - just look at our infamous social media channels, or our infamous liveries that come in all colours of the rainbow. And beyond making mon- er, providing excellent budget flight opportunities, one thing our CEO Hans Metzkopf has always loved is sports.

HansAir has already made quite the splash domestically in terms of sporting sponsorships. The company has served as the title sponsor for the national indoor and beach volleyball championships held in Vrnovo, one of our focus airports, as well as becoming a presenting partner of the national junior ice hockey championship. Recently, we’ve also expanded into football: HansAir is the proud shirt sponsor for Meisterschaft club and former IFCF trophy winners VfL Reinbronn. This deal sees HansAir proudly represented on the club’s home and away shirts, the Reinbronn players traveling to every match in Siovanija using a HansAir-owned jet, and 2 special-liveried planes based at the Reinbronn Airport featuring the club’s colours. These key partners are hugely important to our ethos. And as HansAir looks to expand our product internationally, we also look to expand our sponsorship.

This is why we believe the U18 World Cup is such an exciting opportunity for HansAir. Sponsorship of this premier youth tournament would be excellent for both parties - for HansAir, it’s an opportunity to build our brand internationally and reach new markets. For the U18 World Cup, it’s an opportunity to partner with a group that is committed to a bold strategy for the tournament. Picture planes branded with tournament-themed liveries, tickets to the Final as prizes in our famous HansAir scratch card games, special routes to connect more fans than ever before to the tournament, tournament merchandise for sale on flights, and more! We might even consider waiving checked baggage fees for flights to the host cities - normal price T95, so don’t miss that deal!

With an opportunity so big, HansAir are prepared to pay a competitive, top sum to the FAC in order for the rights, as well as to cover the operating costs of the tournament. HansAir looks forward to the bidding process and are more than happy to answer any questions posed by the FAC as to any specific details of the bid. Thank you for your consideration!

The one team the Sarzonian Under 18 national team felt they didn't have a bead on was the opening opponent the Toddler Stars would face.

As Group B finally got underway after a protracted delay that resulted in the 21st edition of the Under 18 World Cup being moved from Græntfjall to Tumbra despite the misgivings of the Incorporated Football Federation, Sarzonia kicked off their schedule against Crpostran and played to a 2-2 draw.

Before manager Walter Garrison could bemoan their fate and feel like they were behind the eight-ball with one point instead of three, he saw the Group B table flashing on the scoreboard. The other four teams in Group B also played to draws. Abanhfleft and HUElavia drew level 2-2 despite Los Armarillos roster containing overage players, and the United States of Devonta and the Commonwealth of Baker Park played to a 1-1 draw. Thus, each of the six sides in Group B were all on one point in the table.

"I think all the sides in this competition have been disadvantaged the same way by the extended delays," Garrison said. "We felt a little sluggish out there, but it feels like the other team did as well."

Defender Max Wilcox agreed, saying he and the team made some physical mistakes that he thought they wouldn't have made if the tournament started on time and in the expected home country.

"It's not ideal, I'll say that much," he said. "We weren't too crisp coming off the delay, but nobody in our group was, either. We're ready to give ourselves a mulligan."

Sarzonia (0-1-0, one point) started off on the wrong foot as Wilcox stumbled a bit, leading to a quick goal by striker Donovan Walsh in the third minute. Wilcox shook his head, admitting he bit on a ball fake that "any kid" should've seen coming and stopped in its tracks.

The Toddler Stars would find themselves down 2-0 in the 28th minute when Walsh sent a through ball that goalkeeper Dalton Collier managed to punch out to just outside the 18-yard box, but the ball caromed directly to central midfielder Carlos Rodriguez, who one-timed it past a stunned Collier.

"Hey, we gotta pick ourselves up here," Wilcox said, almost immediately pulling the defence together in hopes of picking up everyone's spirits. "We can't hang our heads down now. We've still got 66 minutes of match time left to play."

Speaking of picking up, that's what defensive midfielder Matt Bailey did when he saw Walsh win a ball in the Crpostran offensive end. He eyed Walsh closely, then closed his right leg in time to knock the ball away on an attempted nutmeg. He launched a ball toward offensive midfielder Marco Amato, who slowed up and made a "come here" motion with his right hand to the Crpostranian defence. They didn't bite, but that was actually Amato's plan all along, as he launched a high ball that Emil Moreau skied into the air and used his full 6-foot-5 frame to bang through on a header in the 41st minute. The Toddler Stars went into the half down a goal, but with momentum on their side.

The second half began with Wilcox determined to redeem himself for his third minute gaffe. He did just that by chest-trapping a through ball attempt and slotting the ball to Bailey. Bailey then sent a short pass to winger Tanner Knight. Knight faked a cross-pitch bid to João Gomes, then sent a shorter ball through to Amato. Amato surveyed the box, then sent a cross intended for the head of Moreau. However, Crpostranian goalkeeper Liam Johnson deflected it as it was too tall even for Moreau. However, the deflection went right to the shorter striker Jorge Acosta, who banged the ball off the left goalpost and into the back of the net. That tally drew the match level in the 66th minute, and it would remain that way despite Sarzonia surprisingly making offensive substitutions in the hopes of stealing the full three points from a day they might have otherwise left with none.

"We'll take it," Amato said. "We wanted the full three, but one point's better than nil. And besides, we're level for first in the table," he said, drawing a couple of chuckles from the assembled media.

"Everybody else is, too," one reporter interjected.

"That was the joke," Amato said.

New beginnings, stars align

After travelling to the former host they were days before their match informed everything was getting rescheduled to Tumbra in a shocking turn of events that reached broadcasting on all news stations.
It was unclear why and what the motive of RTC was for doing this but both a fan organization and the Starsian Football Association SFA have sent claims to RTC demanding compensation for travel and organizational costs for their team.
Tumbra was alot closer to home, had they known this they most likely would not even have departed so early and now they sat here on their training complex in Tumbra waiting on their match.

When it was announced by their coach Julio Reyes a sense of disbelief hit the team.

Elliott: ''Its what?! you've got to be kidding you can't tell us we made that whole travel for nothing in the end right?''

Kenseth: ''I don't hope so this is our only chance to get some international recognition i'd hate it if everything was changed now given we had a group of strong nations we played.''

Maywell: ''It doesn't matter in the end we'll have to deal with it but its alot of extra stress for fans and players alike, imagine what costs fans made to see these football games only to hear its not gonne be here.''

Julio Reyes: ''I don't like it either but the association should handle it properly, we have to focus on our first game which will be against the nation of Tikariot who is known for strong football and has a large domestic league.
If any of you have foreign ambitions this tournament is THE place to showcase yourself and your skill because i am pretty sure that scouts and coaches will watch this tournament for new young talent.''

After a long journey back to Esportive they landed in Tumbra

the Starsian team went to train quickly they did have some practice games with local teams and made time for fans as they knew how important community work and image for a team aswell was.
Football players in the 14 Stars were among the most famous in the nation, being one of them made you feel like it, the matchday with Tikariot got closer and after the final training the staff had a meeting with the team.

Matchday

As the starting eleven was announced the teams lined up next to eachother to walk up the stairs into the stadium, the stadium was filled with thousands of fans more then these youngsters had ever been able to dream of.
Most likely some on both teams would get pretty nervous, Geoffrey Richter was the captain of the team, not because he was the most experienced but because he was the one who acted as a leader and motivator to other.
Tikariot's team chose to have the kick-off, the Starsians and their opponents lined themselves up for a game of football as the referee watched his stopwatched then pushed a button on it and blew the whistle to get the game underway.

Right off the bat the Starsians were under heavy pressure the game moving faster then they expected with Motkya and Leybourne making good runs on the sides splitting the Starsian defense as a cross came in.
Elliott caught it, a swift reaction prevented an early goal as he threw it to Kenseth who quickly passed it on to Richter who had space in front of him to move up while the rest of the field moved back, a pass to Maywell was his solution as the ball came to Lauritzen who tried a shot from the long distance but Sheppard caught it.

As the Starsian team got more used to the fast playing style the could move along more with it and there was less pressure on Kenseth and Moon as they were able to steer the defense and midfield more.
Problem was that many Starsians were lacking experience of earlier tournaments and those that did have such experience were benched were the Snowy Owls did have several players with more experience within their line-up, the first half without a doubt was more in their favor as the Starsians stayed on the defensive with several chances but no real threat.
On the other side Granath and Leybourne formeda constant threat with a great dribble and crossing from Leybourne and good shots and headers from Granath keeping Elliott and the defense quite busy to say the least.

During halftime both teams made substitutions on the Starsian side it was Preston Harris being taken off in favor of Rosa Iversen a promising rookie from Blizzard academy.
On the midfield Rubin Caesar was taken off, Geoffrey Richter was moved to the LM position while Yuka Shin an 18 year old who also had been on the squad the last tournament was brought in to bring rhythm and experience within the squad.

Both substitutions had their result as the midfield had more quality and was more calm allowing the defense to move more up and wallace and Roux could move up to the midfield to pressure the opponents into the defensive.
Yuka Shin also started the attack leading to the only goal of the game playing it to Richter who passed to Iversen who ran down the wing then passing it back to Richter as Lauritzen and Redstone arrived in the box.
A high cross from Geoffrey Richter soared across the sky landing on the head of Lauritzen as he heads it past a surprised Ray Sheppard who realized a second too late what was going on and saw his team going one goal down.

Hungry for more then Starsians kept attacking this time they were the dominent team but the players from Tikariot who logically saw themselves as superior started to get a bit frustrated.
A harsh sliding from Kennedy Hayes who despite not aiming for her just was too late saw himself being handed a yellow card by the referee for a reckless actions that could have been a serious injury, the score remained unchanged with a last 10 minute pressure from the opponents seeing many chances and shots but several saves from goalkeeper Elliott prevented an equalizer.

After a tough match the Starsian team comes out victorious but it is too early for celebrations, they have tough games ahead especially in a group with Cassadaigua, Juvencus and Graentfjall who all have very strong teams.

Tumbran Football Federation refutes claims of profiteering from youth tournament hosting switch

STRATON — RESPONDING to allegations that the Tumbran Football Federation might be making a profit from the sudden hosting of the 21st Under-18 World Cup, Tumbran Football Federation (TFF) Vice President (Youth) Graham Grinnell revealed the stark position that hosting the youth tournament would leave the Federation's finances in — and said there was "little that could be done" for travelling supporters outside of "gestures which may be received poorly, or perfunctorily, and defeat the point of the gestures in the first place." Speaking outside the TFF headquarters in Straton, Grinnell was seemingly responding to calls from the Cassadagan Association for Sporting Excellence (CASE) president Stephanie Sweeney to compensate fans who were inconvenienced during the last-minute switch of hosts. The tournament, which was originally due to be held in Græntfjall, was moved to Tumbra on very short notice after Græntfjall pulled out of hosting the tournament mere hours before the first games were about to begin.

"We are running this event at great cost to ourselves — there is a large chance we do not even break even from the organisation of this tournament," said Grinnell in some prepared remarks before he took questions. "While we understand that fans from all over the world will have already made preparations to fly out to Græntfjall, and will have been massively inconvenienced by the switch to Tumbra, it is difficult for us to provide more than what we are already doing without making the event a complete disaster from a financial perspective," he followed, citing the policy of accepting tickets that were earmarked for matches in Græntfjall to be used in Tumbra instead. Grinnell would later give a brief rundown of tournament expenses, as well as the expected revenue that the TFF would make from the running of the running of the Under-18 World Cup.

"I'm not saying that these fans and CASE don't have a case for compensation," ended Grinnell. "But we're not the ones who are meant to be carrying the can. We're already giving up a large portion of revenue from matchday ticket expenses, and to do any more would be unduly making us shoulder even more of a burden than we already are. Our responsibility and main focus right now is on making sure the tournament, organised on very short notice, runs smoothly. Then, and only then, we might be able to entertain questions of accountability."

As of press time, comment had been sought from the FAC of Baker Park, the de facto organisers of the campaign, as well as Banija's Regional Transit Corporation (RTC), the current title sponsors of the cup.

Tumbra begin Under-18 World Cup campaign with emphatic 4-1 victory over Cardenao

HESHAM — Whether Tumbra's 4-1 victory over Cardenao in front of an audience of 8,578 was due to home advantage or a well-executed gameplan was a subject of contention for pundits after the game; but a common point of agreement was winger Everton McVeigh's outstanding performance which saw him score a brace. The left winger would score two early goals, both assisted by deep-lying forward Paul Hargreaves, to put Tumbra 2-0 ahead by the end of the first half; the scoreline would be 3-0 before the end of the first half.

Speaking after the game, the player of the match said that he was "thrilled" to be given the chance to wear the black-and-gold of the Junior Eagles, and that he hoped to be able to continue "ascending up the ranks" of the national team hierarchy. The match was also notable for the debut of Charlie Herlinger, the son of former Tumbran national team player Adam Herlinger, at left-back. The Lakewood United assistant manager was present at the game, although he declined to make comments to the media afterward, stating he was there in a merely private capacity.

Under-18 manager John Lennon said the game was "an excellent representation of Tumbran football," and that he hoped the team would be able to "carry its momentum into the next series of matches." While praising the team's performance, he maintained that the Junior Eagles "could not afford to become complacent after merely one match"; and that the upcoming match against Chromatika, defending champions, would probably "set the tone for the rest of the tournament." Over in Lakewood, however, Chromatika ended up losing their opening match to Srednjaci, who make their return to the tournament after not participating in a few of the previous editions.

Two separate debates to be held for second round of federal election debates

STRATON — The second round of federal election debates will be split into two rounds, after an announcement by the Commission for Election Debates on the structure of the remaining two debates to be held during the eight-week 2037 federal election campaign. The move comes after the leaders of three of the five parties represented at the first debate — Johanna Browne of the Moderates, Michael Berkeley of the Alliance, and Justin Spearing of the Social Democrats — threatened to pull out of the second round of debates after a first debate which saw them with drastically reduced speaking time. The debate will now be split into two debates, held over three days. The first will only have United Party prime ministerial candidate Max Young, and the Leader of the Opposition, Bertram Andrews representing the Labour Party, in attendance. The second will see those two parties send alternate representatives to the debate, where their speaking time will be guaranteed to be equal to that of the three other parties in attendance.

The move is widely seen as an acceptance that the election will see a higher share of first-preference votes and elected Members from the two major parties than most federal elections; most polls have the combined first-preference vote share from the three crossbench parties struggling to hit 15%. "It really is shaping up to be a straight fight between Labour and the United Party for government," said independent political commentator Dr. Kevin Chee. "The crossbench will have to make their case to retain their parliamentary representation — particularly the Moderates, which are most in danger of being snuffed out — but having a debate all to themselves might not actually be beneficial, as there is a chance that more people might simply skip the second debate."

Both Mr. Andrews and Mr. Young, who have been busy on the campaign trail, have reportedly accepted the new debate format; while Ms. Browne of the Moderates had indicated her indication of attendance, Mr. Berkeley and Mr. Spearing had yet to respond to enquiries on their attendance at the second debate at print time.

A change of hosts and a lost on tournament opener

Straton,Tumbra - The 21st RTC Cup is underway... in Tumbra, not in Graentfjall. It's still unsure what happened. It was announced in the headquarters of the Football Association of the Commonwealth of Baker Park that hosting rights for the 21st edition were granted to Graentfjall, a nation who succesfully hosted a few tournaments in the past. Saint-Jean-Jacques et Burnham-on-Stove stated their intent to participate, along with 23 other nations. We were told we can go to Graentfjall ad tournament locations are going to be announced. At the airport, no offficials knew where we're suppose to go. We were in limbo. The Tapirs settled in an hotel close to the airport, waiting for further instructions.

We finally got instructions...to go to Tumbra! Apparently, neither officials from Tumbra nor Baker Park knows why Graentfjall is unable to host the RTC Under-18 World Cup. I personally would like to thank both Baker Park and Tumbra for their fast reaction. So, on matchday 1, the Tapirs played against Natanians and Nosts and lost 3-1. The first half has been frustrating for the Tapirs, being unable to break through the defense. Natanians and Nosts counter attacked at the 16 minutes when Márcus Rog Drifter made a header pass to Ion Radomar Karagounis who heads the ball into the goal. The Blues increased their lead at the 39th minute when Ion Carolus Torje scored on a corner kick. The Tapirs finally put their name on the scoring sheet at the 56th minute when Zhang Yu Tong faked to kick and made a short pass to Alexandra Gutierrez Krawiecki who shoot and it's a goal. N & N increased their lead at the 79th minute when Ion Radomar Karagounis scored on a cross from Carolus Numídio Korolov. The score was 3-1 and this is the final score.

In group D, Lisander, Semarland and N&N are all leading with a win while the Tapirs, Siovanija and Teusland and Coringlaan all have a loss. On matchday 2, the Jean-Jacquois and Burnhamese stays in Straton to play against Semarland, while Lisander plays Siovanija and Teusland and Natanians and Nosts is against Coringlaan. The starting XI remains unchanged.

GAME SUMMARY
16th GOAL NATANIANS AND NOSTS Ion Radomar Karagounis assisted by Márcus Rog Drifter

Abanhfleft 2–2 HUElavia
(Lazaro 34', Capinpin 78' | Watanabe 20', Lobo 87')

Post-Match Interview

Interviewer: "Coach Nacimento, good evening."

Nascimento: "Good evening."

I: "Tough match today, but HUElavia clawed out a solid draw. Your initial thoughts to the result?"

N: "It was a difficult match, but these youngsters really fought tooth and nail for this point, and we had very great chances and some pretty terrible mistakes. Either way, this was our most difficult match to play and surviving is a good start to the tournament we can contend with."

I: "What do you feel could've been done to improve the team during this match?"

N: "Much like the senior team, we could've stood strong in defense and played cleaner to prevent the set pieces that led to the goals. Maybe it's due to our mentality as a footballing nation, but we have seen how HUElavia has conceded goals that could've been preventable. One bad tackle, one harsh foul, and it just makes the players nervous. Even more so that these players are teenagers, they're practically kids!"

I: "Who do you feel most satisfied with in today's performance?"

N: "Wantanabe was fantastic on the pitch, moving very well, taking shots and still making appropriate passes and she had a fantastic match. Lobo was also great, not only getting the tying goal, but was very solid in defense and was a standout player. Oh also had a great game, but what else can you expect from a player like her caliber?"

I: "Any words for the next matchday against Sarzonia?"

N: "We just have to study film, practice drills and make sure we stay disciplined and come out fighting strong, not make as many mistakes and go out on our attacks. They're a strong team and they're no easy opponent. We can only do our best and hope for a good result."

I: "Thank you coach, have a good night and best wishes for Matchday 2."

N: "Thank you, likewise."

Tumbra

A stunned Jin Jigonhsasee looked at his teammates after the defeat to Srednjaci, where the only goal had been conceded on a set piece and the Chromatiks had failed to find the back of the net. Sure, they'd lost Kaytlyn Jean-Baptiste, but they still had Harriet Baïe-Verte, the Lethbridge-Antonio twins, and the bulk of the squad that had won the 20th U-18 WC.

"We totally failed on the offensive end," admitted Harriet, "We controlled the pace, the tempo, and the flow, we just couldn't convert on our chances."

"Four games remain, you know? Everyone either won or lost, so we really need to turn things around. Tumbra and Cardenao are in the group, it's not going to be easy to make it out if we drop another one," countered Jayla, who had been the player of the game for the Chromatiks.

"The last team had growing pains, too," reminded Maddie Prenn, who had been such a key part of the last run, "We turned it around and prevailed, and there is no reason why this team can't do the same."

"I'm just saying it was a disappointing start," countered Jin, "Trust me, I know our resilience better than anyone, but there isn't much room for error now."

The next game would see the Chromatiks take on Tumbra - a youth football powerhouse. They would either equalize at 1-0-1, drop to 0-1-1, or fall all the way behind at 0-0-2. That would make top two of the group an impossibility, and they would have to win out in order to make the Round of Twelve.

It was time to turn things around, and fast, before it was too late.

Part 2

"On the night of a full moon, insert the chip to a powered vessel. Your feelings of love for your lost daughter should take care of everything else." It was what the person who gave Dr Kang the Lionheart said would revive Jieun. He looked one last time at the sky, the light of the full moon peering into the windows of the abandoned warehouse he now lives in. After quitting his job and funneling his money for his project and to barely keep him alive - at least, alive enough to work on his project, there wasn't much choice for a home. With electricity siphoned from nearby homes to power his makeshift lab, all he needed was to put the Lionheart in the body he made for his daughter. A body that was so life-like one could not tell it was a machine if it wasn't connected to cables.

"Alright, this is it. Please, make this work." Dr Kang says to himself as he lowered the Lionheart into a small, square opening in the body, right below the collarbone. As soon as he placed the chip where he thought he should, he closed the opening and turns to a nearby console, pressing a series of buttons to power up the machine that would supposedly house his daughter's soul. The lab came alive with the sounds of mechanical humming and whirring, and soon, so did the body. It - no, she released a wave of energy that pushed away and knocked down nearby objects, along with her father.

"Did...did it work?" Dr Kang asked himself as he slowly stood up and walked slowly towards the bed she laid on, face showing a mixture of caution and curiousity. His expression quickly changed when he saw her sit up and questioningly looked at him while holding the sheet that covered her up to her chest and gave him a warm smile. "Hello, father." Dr Kang could barely believe his eyes as tears started to well up in it. His lips shook before it curved into a smile. "H-h-hello, Jieun. Welcome back. I miss you." He could only get one sentence out before bursting into tears of joy. The new Jieun watched him in silence, still maintaining her gentle smile. After he recovered, she began to talk to him again. "Father, could you please detach these cables from me? They seem to be impeding my movement." "Oh, of course, dear, just one moment." Dr Kang responded, wiping his nose with the back of his hand and still trying to stop his sobbing. "Could I have some clothes too, please? It is rather cold in here." "Y-yes, I prepared your favourite dress, in fact. One minute."

Outside

The new Jieun stood right outside the warehouse door, her hair and dress swaying in the wind. She looked up at the moon, basking in its light for the first time as her father watched her just a few steps behind. He didn't care if her eyes and hair turned blue, or that her manner of speech changed. All that mattered was that she was now with him. "The moon looks beautiful tonight, doesn't it?" she asked with a soft voice. "Indeed...the perfect sight to celebrate your return."

Urotovsky-Gatutin General Machine Building Enterprise
Bid for Sponsorship Rights for the Under-18 World Cup

WHO ARE WE?

The Urotovsky-Gatutin General Machine Building Enterprise is a massive multi-industry conglomerate based in the Democratic People’s Republic of Pridnestrovia, located in the region of Rushmore. Urotovsky-Gatutin, or UrGa for short, is mostly associated with the Pridnestrovian defense industry as it is one of the primary manufacturers and suppliers of the Pridnestrovian Armed Forces’ vehicles (both tracked and wheeled) and other associated equipment. In recent years, however, UrGa had sought to expand its presence outside of Pridnestrovia, and the best way that the company believed it could do that was by entering the automobile industry. UrGa acquired the Fleftic car brands Minchev and Luxur in the late 1990s and early 2000s in order to gain access to both the regular and luxury car markets, and the automobile industry is now responsible for over forty percent of UrGa’s annual revenues and profits.

WHAT IS OUR STORY?

The Urotovsky-Gatutin General Machine Building Enterprise began life in 1938 when two men, Mikhail Ustinovich Urotovsky and Mikhail Abramovich Gatutin, were tasked by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Pridnestrovian Republic in Tiraspol, capital of Pridnestrovia, to create a factory complex for the production of trucks and other such heavy goods vehicles to provide transportation for the crops and raw materials being produced in the Yatuvilsk Socialist State to the rest of Pridnestrovia. Gatutin proposed that his hometown of Myrilsk be the site of UrGa Factory Number One, specifically the fields of the failed collectivized farms around the town. Construction of the factory was completed in a record ten months, and the first UrGa truck rolled off of the assembly line on 10 December 1938.

In 1941, the Grand Duchy of Ixania invaded Pridnestrovia, sparking off the First Great Patriotic War. With the Pridnestrovian Army losing over a thousand tracked and wheeled vehicles in the first two months of the war, UrGa (like almost every other vehicle manufacturer in Pridnestrovia at the time whose facilities weren’t under Ixanian occupation) was ordered to shift production over to vehicles that were actually needed by the Army such as transport trucks and, most importantly, tanks. Mikhail Gatutin ordered the construction of a second factory in Myrilsk to handle the increased demand, and Factory Number Two began production of T-34 tanks in 1943. By the end of the First Patriotic War in 1947, both of UrGa’s factories had churned out over 8,000 vehicles, 4,200 of which were tanks, and the rest being trucks and armored vehicles. This particular statistic made UrGa the third largest producer of tanks for the Pridnestrovian Army during the First Great Patriotic War, but all of that would only be the start of UrGa’s rising influence over the Pridnestrovian defense industry.

With the arrival of the nuclear age, Mikhail Gatutin was once again tasked by the Tiraspol Politburo with producing the ballistic missiles to ensure that Pridnestrovia had the capability to strike and/or strike back at its enemies should relations break down to the point of irreversible conflict. A third factory was opened in Myrilsk to produce the Gatutin Ga-36 missile designed by Gatutin’s new Space and Rocketry Design Bureau, and production of these missiles and their Feniks space rocket derivatives would occur in Factory Number Three for over half a century. Through all that time, Factories One and Two would continue making tanks, armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, and most importantly trucks for the reformed Pridnestrovian Ground Forces, and the Ground Forces would remain the primary source of business for UrGa throughout this period.

When Pridnestrovia entered the new millennium, it was a completely different country from the one that had beaten back the Grand Duchy of Ixania in the First Great Patriotic War. The Communist Party, while still influential, had lost its iron grip over the politics of the nation, and democratization reforms were all the rage. One of the results of this democratization was the downsizing of the Pridnestrovian Armed Forces to decrease the financial strain on an economy that was only beginning to embrace the free market once again, and inevitably Urotovsky-Gatutin was one of those most affected by Pridnestrovia’s military downsizing. The ownership of the entire enterprise was also turned over from the government to the Gatutin family, and Mikhail Gatutin’s son Semyon Mikhailovich Gatutin became the first chief executive officer of the Urotovsky-Gatutin General Machine Building Enterprise in the capitalist era.

It was Semyon Gatutin who made the decision for UrGa to enter the international automobile industry as he believed that the production and sale of consumer vehicles would be needed to offset the losses that the enterprise would incur due to the loss of their contracts with the armed forces. UrGa would accomplish this by acquiring Minchev Automobiles of Abanhfleft, makers of cheap and rugged compact cars that appealed to the lower and middle classes in need of simple and reliable transportation. UrGa acquired the Minchev brand in 1999, and just a year later in 2000, the enterprise would also welcome into the fold Luxur Automobiles, who as their name implied was focused more on the luxury segment of the car market as well as economical sedans for the upper middle class.

Urotovsky-Gatutin would also be given the chance to extend its reach to even more potential thanks to Minchev’s involvement in motorsports, specifically the Abanhfleft Racing Truck Series. At the time of their acquisition by UrGa, Minchev was one of three major Fleftic manufacturers who were making trucks for the series, and UrGa took that opportunity to distinguish their brand as being the reliable one, the one that never breaks down because of their military background. Minchevs were now branded as the truck that could survive battlefield conditions without suffering a single malfunction, and if anything should actually break down in a Minchev for whatever reason, then even the most mechanically inept person could still fix the problem on their own and with minimal additional equipment.

Initially, most people laughed at Minchev’s and UrGa’s claims as they felt too absurd, something that a communist propagandist would say. However, results in ARTS would soon prove those claims right, and when Nasser Nasri won the ARTS Championship while driving a Minchev Bobcat in 2001, both companies cemented their legacies and reputations in the Fleftic mind. And UrGa wouldn’t stop their motorsports involvement with stock cars; when plans for a multi-national open-wheel racing competition were announced in 2010, UrGa was one of the first manufacturers to express interest in fielding their own team in the series. And when the inaugural season of the Coalition Grand Prix Racing Association waved its final checkered flag, Urotovsky-Gatutin had won the constructors’ title, and one of UrGa’s own, Taras Matviyenko, had been crowned the CGPRA drivers’ champion.

UrGa’s motorsports ambitions would continue to grow in the following years, and by 2030 the company had teams in both the NationStates Stock Car Racing Association (NSSCRA) and the World Grand Prix Championship (WGPC). With world-class drivers such as Guillermo and William Archer, Wilhelmina von Cärinthen, Rustam Yudin, and Adonis Fitzpatrick driving for these teams, UrGa has achieved multiple victories in both NSSCRA and WGPC, and is also currently the defending constructors’ champion of the top open-wheeler series in the entire multiverse.

WHY ARE WE BIDDING?

Urotovsky-Gatutin has decided that it is time for it to expand its reach from motorsports to all of sports. And what better sport to get started than the most popular sport in all of the multiverse, football? The Under-18 World Cup, while it may seem small in comparison to other football competitions such as the Di Bradini Cup, the Copa Rushmori, and even the World Cup itself, is still a world cup, and by definition it is accessible to pretty much any nation in the multiverse that is good enough to get there. Motorsports itself is immensely popular, but admittedly it doesn’t have the reach that sports does. If Urotovsky-Gatutin wants to continue expanding its presence around the multiverse, what better way to make itself known to the rest of the multiverse than by becoming the title sponsor of the competition that molds and promotes the future of multiversal football?

This sponsorship proposal is also a two-way street when it comes to raising the profile of both UrGa and the Under-18 World Cup. UrGa already has its reputation as being the makers of vehicles that just keep on going and going, and what better sponsor is there to associate with young football players who show their grit and toughness in their perseverance to get the victory no matter what was in their way? The Urotovsky-Gatutin General Machine Building Enterprise is prepared to bid top dollar for the rights to sponsor the Under-18 World Cup for its next three editions and is willing to cover all operational expenses that comes with running this prestigious tournament. The enterprise is looking forward to the bidding process and is happy to answer any questions that the Football Association of the Commonwealth may have in regards to our bid. Спасибо и удачи. Дякуємо і бажаємо успіху.

Kids put up eight and other news,
by Caitlyn Dufresne, Concord Heights Times

Somewhere in the massive dogpile of nations that call The West Pacific home resides that nation of Conania, a country that proudly declared that they would sign up for both the RTC World Cup, as well as the regular World Cup and Baptism of Fire. That’s a good start for any nation looking to make an impression on the sporting scene as they start out. In the Baptism of Fire, they’ve looked pretty sharp, going 3-1-1 over the group stage but their younger players here in the U-18 Competition are not having the same good fortune. At least they didn’t in their second game, as they allowed the Fillies to pretty much do as they pleased, and if it were not for the pink and black calling off the dogs in the final half hour or so, this probably would have been a clean sheet. We’ll talk more about this 8-2 blowout in a moment., but first some other news.

The RTC- Brattleboro division has inquired about why there are other bids for sponsorship for the tournament, and made their own official proposal. Brooke Harrison, the CEO of RTC- Brattleboro stated to organizers that, “We have heard that a couple of other companies have placed sponsorship bids for the naming rights of the competition, but we are first of all not sure when it came to light that the Regional Transit Corporation was about to lose those rights. So first things first, we would like to see where it is that RTC should not retain it’s sponsorship rights going forward. If there was a process that should be renewed, then it was not clear to us that it should be. At any rate, RTC, through the Brattleboro division here in Cassadaigua is fully prepared to carry on the legacy of the sponsorship rights even if our Banijan parents will not. Sponsoring the RTC Cup has done great things for us here in Brattleboro, and we do wish to continue that. So, the organizers can consider this a formal bid, though at the same time, we want the organizers to show where our naming rights were expiring in the first place.” While the Regional Transit Corporation is based in Banija, the branch here in Cassadaigua is part of the family and prepared to carry on the name. Harrison went on to say, “This is RTC Cup. Not the insert a new company name Cup.”

Outside of that, yes, Cassadigua took on Conania and handily defeated them by six goals, jumping out to a 7-0 lead after 62 minutes before Chen Huikang and company appeared to back down from the offense. Due to the quantity of goals, I thought it would be easier to provide them in list form instead of how I usually go about formatting it. This game was indeed dominated by Cassadaigua, right from the opening whistle.

1st minute- Mikayla Thompson
5th minute- Mikayla, once again.
13th minute- Crystal Bowers
33rd minute- Hannah Lindgren
50th minute- Mikayla completes the hat trick.
55th minute- Baylie Crawford
62nd minute- Crystal Bowers
(Goals by Conania in the 73rd & 81st minutes)
84th minute- Maddie Wagoner

Things will start to get harder now for the Fillies with Tikariot up next. According to Chen Huikang, “This is a game that tells us a lot about ourselves”. And we couldn’t agree more.

Having one point from one match may not necessarily be the end of the world. But getting one point from two matches? That's more of a cause for concern.

Sarzonia came out the losers in a 2-1 result at the hands of HUElavia, a result that saw manager Walter Garrison see red, both literally and figuratively. He blasted what he considered the team's lack of effort as HUElavia seemingly outhustled the Toddler Stars to every loose ball and won every contested header. He drew a red card from Cassadagan referee Wendy Owens for "disrespectfully" addressing her.

"I just said that was a [expletive] ridiculous call," Garrison said of an offside flag negating a goal by Toddler Stars midfielder Marco Amato in the 68th minute. The goal would've drawn the match level. "I said son of a bitch as an expression of frustration. I didn't call her a bitch or a son of one. She heard the word "bitch," though I was referring to her, and drew a red card. I wasn't happy with the call, but like I tell my players, you have to keep your composure. I didn't. I need to accept responsibility." Garrison is not appealing the one-match suspension for drawing a red card.

"I can't," he said. "World Cup organisers wouldn't allow it. The [Incorporated Football Federation] won't allow it. I just have to do better about keeping my composure. That's what I told the team when I addressed them in the dressing room."

Associate manager Janice Camarillo took over for the remainder of the match and will guide the team in their match against The United States of Devonta, which lost their match against Abanhfleft 5-2. She said she would have to watch the video of the match, but she felt the team were "exhausted."

"We looked a step slow out there," she said. "I haven't figured out yet if that was lack of effort or us just not having our legs under us. All I know is, we're three points out of position for a spot in the knockout rounds. The goal is to win the group so we don't have to play in the Round of 12, but we need to make sure we qualify for the knockouts in the first place."

Sarzonia (0-1-1, one point, level for fourth place in Group B with Baker Park) got their lone goal through Emil Moreau, as he skied for a header and banged it over the outstretched glove of goalkeeper Samuel Ventura Rios to cut Los Armarillos' lead in half in the 53rd minute. HUElavia scored goals in the 12th and 26th minutes through attacker Yasmin Paiva beating defender Julian Gomez to a loose ball for a 1-0 lead and Sozen Kuramoto getting defender Danny Haley out of position with a fake Haley said "I stop nine times out of 10."

"Now you owe us nine," defender and team captain Max Wilcox as he sat on his stool in front of his locker, still soaked in sweat. The showers were full of players and he had offered to wait until the second group of players took theirs. Other than that, Wilcox sat glumly until Garrison tapped him on the shoulder.

"I owe you an apology," he said after Wilcox got the rest of the team's attention, and before Wilcox and company could head into the showers. "Janice and I looked at video. They didn't out-hustle you. I think you guys need to stick to mental reps tomorrow."

"I agree," Camarillo said. "We can do a walk-through and not a full-on training session tomorrow."

FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION OF THE COMMONWEALTH
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FAC General Secretary and Executive Vice President Anthony Woodson has a statement on the circumstances surrounding the change of host nation of the Under 18 World Cup.

"The FAC have always taken our stewardship of the U18WC presented by RTC extremely seriously and we act in the best interests of the reputation of the event, the host federations that submit bids to host, and the community of supporters, advertisers, officials and the national team squads that participate at all times.
The FAC takes a percentage of the overall funding from our title sponsor but we have always sought to put as much of the revenue from each edition into the hands of the host governing bodies.
The Tumbran Football Federation approached us, having hosted the previous edition of the U18WC, to step in as a replacement on short notice. We are absolutely sensitive to the financial burden that the TFF has taken on without any chance to secure associate sponsorship or negotiate the media rights in the same way Graintfjall was able to do in the leadup to their tournament.

The FAC will not allow our friends at the TFF to lose money as a result of their selflessness; we recognize that having a bidding process for a new title sponsor while a nation potentially could suffer a significant loss is not the impression we want to project, so the sponsorship fee provided by RTC as part of this edition of the tournament will go towards covering the costs the TFF will incur.

We are also very concerned about the many supporters who will take a financial hit due to their plans being disrupted and are in the process of arranging a settlement process that anyone who lost money because of cancelled travel plans will be able to receive reimbursement. This scheme may not be announced until closer to the end of the tournament, but the FAC will ensure that the governing bodies of every nation competing will be advised of the procedure--which will not be complex or time consuming--that their supporters can seek to recoup the costs.

The Government of the Commonwealth has also stepped up with an offer to the Tumbran Ambassador to Baker Park for a one time contribution to go towards safety and security.
We hope this outline of our current activities will calm down any worries about the short term effects of the organization of the tournament."

The Baker Park Under-18 National Team never got a chance to move on from their 3 day pre-training camp stay at Gunlach FC, as an unknown situation caused the tournament to be suspended, which saw the squad return to Belle Haven to await the resolution.

When the details emerged there was a change of destination to Tumbra, the far northern city of Ridgewell that has never hosted a BP side; by a quirk in the schedule, all of the BP's matches will take place at the Kensington Stadium.

The Junior Bees have made the semi-finals in the previous two editions and feel confident that they can make it a triple crown despite the fact that Group B looks like the proverbial "Group of Death"--Abanhfleft, Sarzonia, HUElavia and Devonta join with newcomers Crpostran.

2nd loss in a row

Straton, Tumbra - On matchday 2, Saint-Jean-Jacques et Burnham-on-Stove lost 1-0 against Semarland. Semarland's goal was scored at the 72nd minute when Jykese Bridge made a header pass to Gokhan Enevoldsen who headed the ball into the net.

It was a frustrating game for the Tapirs, with D'Quim Marshall blocking every shots on target. I think he should be the first star of the game. Saint-Jean-Jacques et Burnham-on-Stove is now 5th in group D, tied with Siovanija and Teusland with 0 points. The Siovanijans and Teus will be our next opponent on matchday 3 in Serrapince and one team has to win, unless it ends with a draw. In order to shake the team up, Coach Jorge Santana Lopez announced some changes in the starting XI. 16 years old Jean-Gilles Grand-Pierre will be in instead of Félix Vertefeuille and Cédric Werzberger will take Catalina Ramirez Espinoza's spot in the starting XI.

GAME SUMMARY
72nd GOAL SEMARLAND Gokhan Enevoldsen assisted by Jykese Bridge

Players to watch

Alejandra Jimenez Sanchez, side defender, is arguably the best player on the team right now and the one with the brightess future along with Jean-Gilles Grand-Pierre. Jimenez Sanchez has great speed and passing habilities, she can be considered as an " offensive defender ". She also have good anticipation and can see the play evolving in front of her. Her primary position is side defender but she could also play at side midfielder or wing.

Félix-Antoine Blouin, central defender, is the younger brother of Anna-Rose Blouin, currently at the Di Bradini Cup 57th. He's a good tackler and excels in marking.

Zhang Yu Tong, attacking midfielder, striker or attacking wing, is the tyounger sister of Zhang Hao Yu, currently at the Di Bradini Cup 57th. She excels at both passing and shooting, she's good to lure her opponents into thinking she's going to shoot, then she passes the ball to an open teammate. Also a free kick specialist.

Alexandra Gutierrez Krawiecki, side midfielder or winger, she's an excellent passer, she can anticipate the play and create some offense for her teammates. Also a great leader and the most vocal in the locker room, besides Jean-Gilles Grand-Pierre.

Rosalie Chenette-Ladouceur, central or side defender, is a versatile and energic defender. She's good at marking and have good anticipation. She's also an excellent passer.

Jean-Gilles Grand-Pierre, central defender, is only 16 years old and he's not the best player on the team right now, but he's the one with the most potential and highest ceiling. He was also playing hockey in his youth and was a pest and a big mouth, constantly disrupting his opponents and getting involved into fights. Soccer helped him to calm down but he's still more aggressive than a normal soccer player and prone to receive yellow or red cards. He's a terrific (and aggressive) tackler, can cover a large area of field, have good anticipation and great leadership skills. He needs to round up his technique but has great potential.
