UNN: Mountain Eagles hold off Cadets comeback

The University of Adelsstedt Mountain Eagles picked up their second NSCF win, beating the Silver Coast Stage College Cadets from South Americanastan in a clash of triple option offenses. The Cadets staged a spirited fourth quarter comeback from 27-10 down, but couldn't close the game after the Mountain Eagles' 17 point third quarter. The key moment in the game was perhaps defensive back Stefan Cremer's after Emil Nielsen had reeled a touchdown pass at the back of the endzone to put the Mountain Eagles two scores clear. With the Cadets turned around at their own 20, the Mountain Eagles then stormed over for a touchdown run from quarterback Jón Sigurjónsson. The Cadets' own option QB, Mike Randall, recovered from his errant throw to lead his team back in the fourth through a mixture of deep passing and incisive running, but despite scoring twice, the gap was too large to overcome.

Despite going scoreless Sebastian Franke was the key offensive player for the Mountain Eagles, rushing for 120 yards; Sigurjónsson was outpassed 246 yards to 89 yards by Randall, but the Mountain Eagles QB kept the game under control and scrambled well. Stuttering fourth down conversions meant it was important that kicker Isabella Messerschmidt had a good day, making all three of her kicks including a nerveless 34 yarder in the fourth quarter. The Moutain Eagles have gone 2-1 in their first division stretch, but now face tougher tests from the more experienced and higher ranked Starlight Division, beginning with hosting the Staramara Tech Lava and their 29 year old(!) freshman quarterback, J.J. Garret Jr..

Three-Headed Monster Dominates as Lava Upset Firehawks

FIREHAWKS' ROOST, FELSWYR, MOUNTAIN DISTRICT - Don't tell the Lava of the Firehawks' accolades. Talk to them about the fact that they are the only team to sweep Felswyr State in the regular season (in Sarai Gwenderyn's Senior year, at that), talk to them about the fact that their ball-possession, smash mouth style holds onto the ball for so long that the Firehawks never get to have the ball, and talk to them about their potential, especially when JJ Garret is allowed to have a clean pocket.

Is it too early to call Isaga Duhaga a superstar? How about to call Davis Pill, Ingrid Schevchenko, and the aforementioned Isaga Duhaga the best backfield in the entirety of the NSCF? For the second game in a row, the three-headed backfield of the Lava ran for more than two hundred yards - with Duhaga getting 132 of those yards and two touchdowns on eighteen carries - as the Lava held onto the ball for more than forty-two minutes and never truly let the Firehawks into the game in a dominating 21-9 victory at the Firehawks' Roost.

After holding the Firehawks to a three-and-out to start the game, the Lava put together an eight-minute, fourteen-play drive, ending with Duhaga's first touchdown run of the night, to take the early lead. They would put together three other drives that took up more than seven and a half minutes, a program record, as the chunk runs in the first and second downs meant that it was very easy for JJ Garret to deliver the ball accurately on third down. Garret put together another stable performance, going fourteen-of-nineteen for 118 yards and a score as he didn't need to do much.

Felswyr State had a glimpse of hope at the end of the first half as Nicole Estera was able to find Nero Ramsey on a fifty-three yard bomb to cross midfield for the first time, but they fell short at the twenty-nine yard line as Sydney Thomas was met by Irina Jones on third down. In the second half, the Firehawks would possess the ball four more times and only be able to put up thirty-three yards total - a total disaster as they only gained 231 yards of total offense. If it wasn't for the burst of brilliance that Lenny Rhimes provided on a ridiculous kickoff return, the score would've been far worse.

"Our big guys up front did good work today," explained Duhaga about the offensive line's play, "We were able to generate such a push that it was easy for me to put up the yards. This Offensive Line is where our play starts - and it was great to remind everyone of that."

The win puts the Lava at 2-1, while the Firehawks fall to 1-2 - with cross-divisional play beginning soon. Staramara Tech will visit the Mountain Eagles of Meinhard Ulrich University of Adelsstedt, while the Firehawks visit the Silver Coast College Cadets. Both schools are 2-1 - but Chromatik schools have historically had a good track record in cross-divisional play.

"Our margin of error is shrinking rather quickly," admitted Firehawks Head Coach Naia Curentino, "Hats off to the Lava, but it's not time to panic yet - we have a lot of fight left in us, and we'll be damned if we call it quits this early."

If the Lava can keep running like this, they'll be fine - while for the Firehawks, they will need to lean on the experience of their roster.
Quarter 1
06:11 STU TD - RB Isaga Duhaga 7 yard run (K Marie-Madeleine Guilloux Kick) STU 7-0 FSU

Quarter 2

10:23 FSU TD - WR Lenny Rhimes 102 yard kickoff return (TE Jen Hallow 2pt pass from QB Nicole Estera unsuccessful)

ESTEROLOGY
Part 4: Uncharted Territory

ADIRON COURT, FELSWYR STATE UNIVERSITY - That had been the worst game of Nicole Estera's gridiron career.

Sure, she had lost games before - to Mt. Niar High School in last season's National Championship, in the Semifinals the year prior, or even some regular season games in the two seasons that she had won. However, never had she had a game where it felt like they could get nothing going. If it wasn't for that bomb that Nero had brought in, she would've finished with less than a hundred yards passing - and the Firehawks' offense was such that the Quarterback simply had to make plays.

Afterwards, Naia had taken most of the blame, saying that she should've done a better job preparing the team for the physical line play that the Lava were going to bring. Nobody liked to hear that, of course - having the Head Coach blame themselves was a sign of a team that was falling short of expectations. However, they were 1-2, things didn't look that great, and the legacy of being a Felswyr State University Quarterback was starting to grind on Nicole.

Which was why she was up in the Common Room of Adiron Court at eleven o'clock instead of tuning in for a video or going to sleep. No, she had homework to do if she was going to turn the season around. As Harriet, her roommate, was an early sleeper, she had carried her playbook and laptop to the Common Room to make sure to not disturb her, and was lucky enough to find a back corner where she could have the space and solitude needed to get to work.

Thankfully, the stadium staff had already given her the tape of the game, specifically the offensive plays by the Firehawks. She started to go through it one play at a time, noting what the Lava had done before the snap, how the play had developed, and especially the missed opportunities that she hadn't been able to cash in. It was aggravating, for certain, but it was also enlightening to be able to find out afterwards so that she would have an easier time recognizing the situation in the games to come.

So engrossed was Estera in her work that she didn't notice the presence of two people walking up to her. When a hand crossed her vision, she was startled - yet glad to find that it was Tight End Jen Hallow and Wide Receiver Jacqueline Fofo.

"Burning the midnight oil?" chided Hallow, handing Estera a bag of chips. Fofo waved from the background.

"Never again are we going to lose like that," Nicole said with emphasis, "Not if I can help it."

"All right," Jen answered, "If you're going to do postgame analysis, call us in. You don't know half the plays by sight yet, anyway."

So, the three of them stayed up till the wee hours of the morning dissecting one of their greatest failures, hell bent on making sure that it wouldn't happen again.

Hunting For Sport:
Buffalo Routed In Richardson, Lindberg's Defense Cedes Just 179 Yards To One of NSCF's Top Offenses

Image
In yet another testament to Kasen Harrowitz's prized unit, this defense allowed just one touchdown on the day and forced four takeaways in the biggest game of the season's early stages

There was a lot of speculation about Viktor Rowles chewing through a defense that became Benoit Youngblood's playthings during his tenure - he went 5-1 against the Governors in his career, with the sole loss coming in the NSCF 27 semifinals,a game where he spotted 42 points on the second best defense in the NSCF's recent history - can't really fault him for that one. So the expectation was that Rowles, now with half a season worth of starting experience under his belt, would have shot at replicating that dominance over Cold Hill's national rival after they shut him down the first time out.

No such luck.

Rowles had what was, at least based on what we remember of his dominant in CHSG, the worst game of his career. It didn't exactly get off to a good start of course - after driving into the red zone on the game's opening drive, Rowles was picked off in the end zone throwing a jump ball to tight end Samajae Dallas. Usually that's a pretty strong bet, but Totte Lindberg was a half step faster, punching the ball up into the air, where Vilde Lauritzen cleaned up on her fellow Vanorian's quick play with an interception. She did make the mistake of trying to take it back and being tackled at the four, but no harm was done. Cold Hill's defense had exactly zero players that could consistently tackle Ragnar Sampson or Benjamin Merik one on one and it showed, with the two combing for nine carries and seventy yards on the drive, which Isaiah Hunter capped off with 13 yard seam route to Mugisha Mulogo to put his squad up seven zip early.

The roar of this Richardon crowd in response told the story - having taken away Cold Hill's opening possession, they were in command of this ballgame. Their two running backs could control the tempo and keep this explosive Buffalo on the bench for as long as possible, and that's exactly what they did. Isaiah Hunter's role wasn't zero, but he only threw a few passes until what would be the final drive of the half, where he hit Hezekiah Thomas to pick up a first down, giving the Governors just enough time to line up for a chip-shot field goal and take a 10-0 lead going into the half.

And when they got the ball, they put the nail in the coffin - Hunter rolled out to escape pressure from Erik Kessler and threw a high loft to Mugisha Mulogo, who had to toe tap and extend every inch of his massive frame to haul it in, but haul it in he did, rolling out of his fall and jumping right to his feet with the offense swarming him

And down three scores, Cold Hill completely abandoned the run. Chris Dale had called a 28 point comeback in the NSCF Championship last season, and he clearly anticipated doing that here - but with a less experienced quarterback and a more green wide receiver corps that didn't feature Kasozi Batte, it just wasn't going to happen. Where everything had gone their way in that contest, nothing was here. Viktor Rowles was picked off a second time as the clock continued to bleed, this time when Munanaire Tembo baited him into a deep shot, and on the next drive, it only got worse - Totte Lindberg came untouched off the blindside when the Buffalo line failed to pick up the blitz, smashing through the oblivious passer and falling on the ball by sheer force of luck, carried to it by his dive. Lindberg's rallying cry was drowned out by the Richardson's faithful's own, and Benjamin Merik only continued to pile on, slashing through the line of scrimmage and smashing through an ill-fated tackle attempt by cornerback Nicholas Hussain, who didn't allow a catch on the day for his third touchdown run of the season.

Rowles wasn't able to get much done after that - Cold Hill did manage to blow the shutout bid when freshman running back Hebron Naphtali crossed the plane on what was an abysmal game for him - 22 yards on 13 carries. Cold Hill's star passer would finish the day a dreadful 30 for 52, trudging his way to just 155 yards and failing to find the end zone. Worse yet, he'd top things off with a third interception at the hands of Totte Lindberg - giving him a 1:1 TD:INT ratio on the season to this point.

For Richardson, delivering a knockdown in their first round against the reigning champs puts everyone on notice - the NSCF's best defense through three weeks (with Cod Hill's at second, surprisingly) is at full strength, and with a proven leader Isaiah Hunter under center, this offense's weapons can be employed to their fullest. They are in the driver's seat for the Everless crown and, barring any upsets, it'll take a massive Cold Hill win in week 10 to knock them out of the Conference Championship game. But of course, football's never that easy. LeBois Santura has the star power to punch up on any given Saturday, and BYU's Jackson Zuercher might end up being even better than his brother, the former #8 overall pick in the Ranorian Football League.

And their counterparts? They've got a lot of questions to answer. For Viktor Rowles, such an lofty prospect coming out of high school, to perform the way he has against Richardon twice now is a massive concern. This isn't a team that can win games on defense, or lean on their run game despite the talent of young Hebron Naphtali. Their talent and their scheme emphasize aggressive, vertical passing to stress defenses early and often. If Rowles can't prove to be able to do that against playoff-caliber teams, then it's going to be a rough season. And based on what we know about this kid, eyes will be on Chris Dale to address any fallacies with the young passer - if he's a good coach, he should be able to make Rowles into a potential first overall selection.

Cold Hill University

"Rowles," Viktor snapped up in his seat where he had been starting to slouch, whipping around to see his head coach in the doorway. “Go to bed, we’ve got offensive meetings after your workout tomorrow, we can watch film then.”

“Just trying to figure out what went wrong,” he said as his knuckles went white over his pen, “Last time I lost like tha-“

“I know, last game of your high school career,” Chris Dale waved his hand as he approached, “That Bonsoon’s a bit wild. Tends to happen.” He snatched up the young man’s note pad, “I appreciate the effort kid, but you don’t know how to watch film.”

“What?” Viktor shot back - mouth agape in indignance.

“This one’s on me,” Dale continued as if he hadn’t heard him, “Look, you’re the most talented quarterback in the NSCF. You know how I know?” He didn’t give him a chance to respond, “Because I don’t offer fucking scholarships to four stars quarterbacks. You got beat by talent in that championship game, and you got beat by this Governors defense today. Coach Orton and I can explain all the concepts and ways to beat them in the world, but if you can’t break them down yourself, you’re going to get beat against teams like Richardson that run pro esque schemes.”

“Coach, I can read a def-“

“Viktor.” Chris Dale cut him off, “You can make individual reads, I’ve seen you go to the second on some of your better plays. But if you could read defenses, Lisa Bonsoon wouldn’t have picked you off three times because you’d have known to find and avoid her on every play. You would have known that Munanaire Tembo likes to bait deep throws, and you’d have know that Totte Lindberg was going to be man on Samajae.”

Dale smiled when he got no response, and handed him back his textbook, “You’re gonna have a long day tomorrow. Staff meetings are after offensive meetings. Come back after lunch, Coach Orton and I will teach you to see the field like a coach. You want to be an all timer, this is how we get you there.”

Rowles, with bags in his eyes, offered a smile and accepted his notebook back, “Thanks, coach.”

"FIGHT ON!" one side of the JKR horseshoe cried.

"OOH-RAH!" the other responded.

Mike Randall gestured towards the crowd to quiet down, and the roar of the traditional Cadet chant degraded to the low hum of suspense. He slowly crouched down, placinghis hands in a triangle under the center's rear, ready to receiver the ball. He took a deep breath.

"DOWN! WHITE 89... SET HUT!"

He received the ball from the center, turning opposite the playside before tossing it to backside halfback B.T Jackson, who flew towards the pylon. Mike had nothing left to but watch as he raced the Adelsstedt safety to the pylon. Jackson dove up, being it by the center mid-air and tailspinning his way into the end zone. He raised his arms in the air as the stadium erupted, before running over and sharing a flying chest bump with his halfback. Marco Huaneva put the PAT through, and the kickoff unit went out to attempt an onside kick.

The stadium went silent.

The ball went up.

The ball came down.

"WE FUCKING GOT IT BABYYYYYYY!"

"And we return to our broadcast of SCSC Cadet football after that timeout, with the Cadets trying to make a valiant comeback late her in the JKR"

"And what a comeback its been so far, Chris, but they've found themselves in a dire situation here."

"After two fairly easy wins, one could say this is Randall's first test of the season."

Randall called his huddle as the crowd stood in suspense.

"Wishbone Spread Yankee on color. Ready... BREAK!"

The Cadets lined up in a standard Wishbone backfield, with one receiver split out wide on each side of the field. Oscar Holt, Randall's former high school teammate, was split out to the right, while redshirt junior Paul Allen lined up the his blindside. It was a simple concept, with Holt running a deep post and Allen running a 10-yard dig. B.T. Jackson would run as if he was going to the flat before cutting in on a pseudo-drag route. J.J Wisniewski would take a check release to the flat on the opposite side, with fullback Don Henderson taking a fake handoff.

"DOWN! RED 28!"

The center snapped the ball into Randalls hand, and he executed the play fake to Henderson before taking a 5-step drop and turning his eyes downfield. Traditionally a Cover 2/3 beater, the Adelsstedt defense had stymied the deep concepts by dropping into quarters coverage, and Jackson had been taken out of the play by a bull-rushing Adelsstedt end, knocking him down using his own right tackle.

"Randall, looking, no one open... and he takes off!"

Mike's legs burned as he sprinted down field, the weight of 20,742 silent fans on his shoulders. The 20, the 15, the 10... he could smell the end zone by now. He dove over the line, and the referee signaled a touchdown.

"But hold on there, a flag down at the 20..."

The referee stood in the center of the field.

"Illegal crackback block, offense number 82. The penalty will be enforced from the spot of the foul, replay 4th down."

"And Royals looks livid, he's going down to have a word with the refs."

Fellow Micheal, Coach Royals stormed down the field to give the referee an earful. But as he watched the replay on the JKR jumbotron, he realized something.

"Well fuck me, they're right this time around." he uttered, in a distinct Amerikanastaner accent.

The offense lined up for one last desperation heave, but a bomb by Mike Randall fell incomplete.

2. East Shantarr High School Order

The Storyline:

The Heartland District received one offer to join the Elite Conference (the Chameleons) - and so, eight of the twelve schools found themselves here, in the newly named Justinian Conference. Heading up the Carmine Division are the Cheonju Korean Institute Red Devils. Quarterback Ailee Jungsten enters her Junior year - a six-eight, muscular, physical specimen who is willing to lay out defenders to get first downs. Kim Jeong-Beom is her big-game Wide Receiver, and she also has the services of Tight End Reile Dostov - a high-octane offense ready to keep going. Don't keep your eyes off of the City of Lorentine High School Wizards, though. Senior Quarterback Frank Wing returns - being a dual-threat southpaw with a surprising burst of speed; though they lost Randolph Huckleby, Wide Receiver Pieter Diovett can also get some carries, and the presence of Freshman Safety Ruwon Ittiti will help out on the defensive end, as he's one of the best safety prospects in the nation. As for the Crix Arts Institute Artisans and Cheonju High School Condors, they'll be relying on homegrown talent. Pine Rucks will be blocking for one sylas Rhuck, the Sophomore Running Back in charge of the offense of the Artisans; Running Back Keenan Judson and Outside Linebacker Wang Ji-Sun will help steer the Condors even without an established Quarterback.

In the El Dorado Division, the West Shantarr - East Shantarr rivalry continues. The West Shantarr High School Scorpions return so much talent - led by Sophomore Quarterback Marcus Aurelues, a diminutive mobile Quarterback who has a surprisingly quick release, and an arsenal of weapons in Senior Running Back Jeremy Willard, Senior Wide Receiver Draven Killjoy, and Senior Strong Safety Thayer Silt. As for East Shantarr High School, they still have one Daemon Argonaut, the now-Senior Quarterback who will be a star at the collegiate level. With his favorite target in Wide Receiver Draymond Sting, the Order will be a hard nut to crack. It helps when you have a Freshman Middle Linebacker that fits King Jairon's bill, as well. Pùr Equestrian School retains Senior Quarterback Ollie Ruckstread and Junior Wide Receiver Min Jeong-Baek. Ollie has a great rocket arm, while Min excels after the catch. Last but not least, the Flames have dual-threat Quarterback Lee Jung-Hyeon, a solid Running Back in Ward Cygnus, and a lockdown corner in Edward Morningven - the Junior being a true shutdown corner on his side of the field.

The Season

Matchday 1
Justinian - Carmine
Cheonju High School 13–12 Crix Arts Institute
Cheonju Korean Institute 34–33 City of Lorentine High School

Justinian - El Dorado
West Shantarr High School 27–31 East Shantarr High School
Dragon High School 56–22 Pùr Equestrian School

A last-second dart from Ailee Jungsten to Reile Dostov leads the Red Devils past the Wizards in an instant classic, while the Condors need a game-winning Field Goal to win their opener; the Order win the first leg of the battle of Shantarr, Sting catching two touchdown passes in the second half, while the Flames burn the Riders behind a four-touchdown day from Ward Cygnus.

Matchday 2
Justinian - Carmine
Crix Arts Institute 17–23 City of Lorentine High School
Cheonju High School 20–23 Cheonju Korean Institute

Justinian - El Dorado
East Shantarr High School 23–9 Pùr Equestrian School
West Shantarr High School 27–31 Dragon High School

The Wizards notch their first win of the year as Frank Wing leads two touchdown drives in the Fourth Quarter, while the Red Devils win the battle of Cheonju behind Hwang Ji-Beom's fifty-three yard Field Goal. East Shantarr dominates the Riders at the line of scrimmage with Argonaut getting lots of time, while the Flames burn out more than just the Scorpions' defense, breaking Marcus Aureleus's throwing arm and eliminating him for the rest of the season.

Matchday 3
Justinian - Carmine
Cheonju Korean Institute 12–13 Crix Arts Institute
City of Lorentine High School 44–23 Cheonju High School

Justinian - El Dorado
Dragon High School 20–38 East Shantarr High School
Pùr Equestrian School 33–20 West Shantarr High School

The Artisans upset the Red Devils, Rhuck having a 181 yard day with a score and the defense holding stout; the Wizards pull away from the Condors with Pieter Diovett having four total touchdowns. Without Aureleus, the Scorpions fall flat out of the gate as Ollie Ruckstread has his day with them, while the Order keep chugging along with another dominant showing from Argonaut.

Matchday 4
Dragon High School 13–23 Crix Arts Institute
Pùr Equestrian School 37–26 Cheonju Korean Institute
West Shantarr High School 33–30 Cheonju High School
East Shantarr High School 37–29 City of Lorentine High School

Daemon Argonaut's four-touchdown, 419 yard day paces the Order past the Wizards in the match of the day, while the Scorpions finally win a game with Thayer Silt having three interceptions; the Riders' upset of the Red Devils show just how far off Cheonju Korean Institute is from their historical form, while the Artisans' ground attack finds a victim in the Flames.

Matchday 5
Cheonju Korean Institute 50–33 West Shantarr High School
Crix Arts Institute 24–23 East Shantarr High School
City of Lorentine High School 38–37 Dragon High School
Cheonju High School 16–29 Pùr Equestrian School

Ailee Jungsten sets a school record with 517 yards and seven touchdowns as the Red Devils overcome the Scorpions, while the Artisans are able to just edge past the Order, handing East Shantarr their first loss, as Sylas Rhuck continues to establish himself as a feature back. The Wizards need a ten-point comeback capped off by a Kim Jung-Beom run for a touchdown to escape the Flames' upset bid, and the Riders race out to a lead that the Condors cannot overcome.

Matchday 6
Crix Arts Institute 31–26 West Shantarr High School
Cheonju Korean Institute 54–59 East Shantarr High School
Cheonju High School 25–20 Dragon High School
City of Lorentine High School 41–29 Pùr Equestrian School

Everything is going haywire for the Scorpions as they lose yet again; the Order cap off a one hundred and thirteen point game with a late touchdown by Daemon Argonaut into the arms of Draymond Sting to barely survive the Red Devils. The Condors return to form by not letting the Flames breathe in the second half, and the Wizards' Pietr Diovett add another four scores to beat the Riders.

Matchday 7
West Shantarr High School 26–37 City of Lorentine High School
East Shantarr High School 30–6 Cheonju High School
Dragon High School 31–40 Cheonju Korean Institute
Pùr Equestrian School 26–14 Crix Arts Institute

Pietr Diovett, wonder. Four more touchdowns here - two running and two receiving - as the Wizards beat the Scorpions; the Order throttle the Condors, the Red Devils post their third straight game scoring more than forty points, and the Riders hold the Artisans to less than 70 yards of rushing in their win.

Matchday 8
Justinian - Carmine
Crix Arts Institute 23–7 Cheonju High School
City of Lorentine High School 14–7 Cheonju Korean Institute

Justinian - El Dorado
East Shantarr High School 30–10 West Shantarr High School
Pùr Equestrian School 47–13 Dragon High School

It turns out that the Wizards just have the Red Devils' number, holding them to seven points to throttle down their potent offense, while the Artisans control the game for long stretches against the Condors. The Order take down the now hapless Scorpions who are wondering just what happened to them this season - winning the Division, while the Riders cement themselves as the second best team in the division by destroying the Flames.

Matchday 9
Justinian - Carmine
City of Lorentine High School 24–16 Crix Arts Institute
Cheonju Korean Institute 40–41 Cheonju High School

Justinian - El Dorado
Pùr Equestrian School 24–28 East Shantarr High School
Dragon High School 40–30 West Shantarr High School

Any hopes of a comeback is dashed for the Red Devils as the Condors complete a twenty-point comeback in the Fourth Quarter with Keenan Judson completing his fourth touchdown of the day, allowing the Wizards' win over the Artisans to be the victory lap; the Order keep up their good work against the Riders, while the Flames skate past the Scorpions in the second half.

Matchday 10
Justinian - Carmine
Crix Arts Institute 30–38 Cheonju Korean Institute
Cheonju High School 20–45 City of Lorentine High School

Justinian - El Dorado
East Shantarr High School 54–20 Dragon High School
West Shantarr High School 20–33 Pùr Equestrian School

The Red Devils do well enough to finish at .500 - but it's a lost season, while the Wizards complete their dominance. As for East Shantarr, they were the best team in the conference this season - while the Scorpions' collapse will be documented for a long, long time.

Final Table
Justinian Conference - Carmine Pld W L PF PA PD

MVP: East Shantarr High School Senior Quarterback Daemon Argonaut (4,350 yards, 41 touchdowns, 6 interceptions)

Argonaut stepped up his game massively his Senior season, as the offense scored fifty-five more points this time around. He was accurate, made quick decisions, and controlled the game.

Jays lose a shootout to Toucans; tough schedule approaching

After the Jays lost a very high scoring game to the Toucans of Saint Jean-Jacques, 36-55 at home, fans are starting to lose trust in HC Craig Kelly once again.

Last season, around the same time, fans wanted to break in and kill Kelly, but now, only the drunk ones want to do that, a major improvement. Improvement is a major theme this season with the Jays, not only for the coaching staff, but also the players.

Kabe Heaton, as a freshman, has developed into a strong and consistent reciever, being crucial as a vertical threat and on third downs.

Another fastly developing player is Miles Gray-Rasmussen, Kabe Heaton's partner in crime on third downs, and a consistent deep threat. Since William Chang graduated last season, Gray-Rasmussen has stepped up so far and filled his spot excellently, becoming a master route runner and a human vacuum in single coverage.

Finally, Reo Taylor has been developing very well as a freshman, locking down the middle and stuffing the run game effectively. Even if Craig Kelly tends to be more offensive of a coach, Reo Taylor and Johnny Robinson are both doing a great job securing a very cobbled-together defensive unit missing a lot of pure talent, helping the Jays win a couple more games here or there and allowing the offense to do it's thing.

I could dwell on recruits all day, but after all, the matchup is more important.

The 3-0 Green City squad is a very scary one at that, with capabilities for high offense and defense, but you never know what could happen with UC-Prairie. The Jays seem to have just the right balance of talent and physicality required to beat Green City, so if the crowd shows up in full, we could have a barn-burner for the ages in the Brig. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Colter Flentroy celebrating after TD

BYU puts on a clinic as they beat Utah state 42-20

First Quarter

As the coin flipped, BYU got the start and with that they were off, with Jackson Z under pressure you can pick up instances of his yelling hearing “Cougar tail, cougar tail!” This had the Tight-end Johnny stand up and with a clap from Jackson’s hands, the ball was snapped and he back peddled before looking around and seeing Johnny burst ahead and with a strong pass from Zuercher and with a grab and pull in. Johnny was running and the menace of a Center-Back named Kuresa Faasoo, the 300+ pound destroyer that can move ever so gracefully. As he tried to take down Johnny and for both their credits Faasoo almost got him down, but the 6’6” Johnny wall wouldn’t let that happened as he continued down the field getting BYU a 35 yard run before tripping up on himself.

The drive continued for BYU as Zuercher threw a good deep threat ball as it traveled 31 yards and to the fastest receiver BYU had in Colter Flentroy, as Flentroy pulled the ball into his arms he sped off for a 18 yard run before he was stopped at the red zone. As CB Derreck James takes down Flentroy at the legs. We can see Flentroy do a quick cerebration as the BYU crowd went wild, as the rest of the offense caught up with the Wide-recever. As the BYU offense lined up once more, but in the red zone on the segment you could here “Silver Vein! Silver Vein!" This had Zuercher run back and throw another ball to Wall and he bursted into the endzone with a vengeance and spiking the ball as the BYU crowd went mental.

With the first score, BYU continued on the march as the put the stop on the Aggies offense routing them back, as LaJuan Talbot caught a pick off of Utah State QB Iasona Tau and with that BYU was off to a hot start at they are now up 14-0 against the in country rival and it seemed as if they wouldn’t slow down. As finally the Aggies went on something that resembled a drive but were snubbed by the clock as they only got in a field goal changing the score slightly as they went from 0 points to 3.

Second Quarter

At the start of the second BYU continued on their run and, with a rushing play BYU Running-back Miles Davis got his chance to shine picking up a first down and more running for 15 years before being taken down, around the BYU’s own 40 yard line and that didn’t stop the offense as Jackson Z threw a 14 yard pass to the giant that was Johnny wall and he went on a run as he got it to the Aggies 50 yard line before getting knocked down. Then as they lined up they BYU crowd got loud, with some more yelling from Jackson Z the BYU offense was humming and with another large gain by Johnny Wall.

BYU seemed like they were just ready to tear apart the Aggies and get themselves another touch down, and well they were on their way as with a 38 yard heave from Jackson Z and an amazing catch from Joshua Carter they saw him bolt past a Utah State defender and that wound up as a BYU Touch down. Other than the impressive throw and catch, nothing of note else happened other than BYU defense got three sacks on Iasona Tau all made by LaFoy Benoit the senior from Copperton. Also the BYU defense seemed as if they got it together since the loss to BSU.

[Halftime: BYU leads 21-3]

Third Quarter

Aggies with the ball now and so far they have managed to get a decent drive going and finally broke out as, they got a touch down with Pili Tupu making the catch barely and landing in the endzone making the score go from 21-10 and with that the flood gates opened and the Aggies managed to snub a BYU drive for the first time all game. Then they punched back with another touch down, and this got the BYU side a little nervous but from the stands you could see Jackson Z and Johnny Wall yelling and getting hyped up you could see the offense start to join them in getting hyped. Once they graced the field after a good punt return from Miles Davis they were at the 45 yard line on their side.

As they went for it, the drive was a slog as something happened with the Aggies defense but BYU didn’t care for the attempts as Jackson Z and the offense found themselves at the Redzone once more. With one more play call, Jackson lobbed the ball to Johnny wall once more giving him two touch downs on the night. This put BYU at 28-17 gaining a comfortable lead but as the Aggies took the field, most BYU students started yelling and cheering causing the Aggies offense false start 4 times and then finally after snapping the ball it was over as LaFoy Benoit rushed down Iasona Tau and took him down fast and hard. This trend continued as the Aggies offense only managed to get a field goal making the score 28-20.

Another kick to the teeth came to the Aggies as during the punt, Miles Davis continued from the previous run as he ran all the way to the other end for a Punt return, it was beautiful from what Jackson Z said as he was seen following the run from Davis. With that punt return the score went up to 35-20. It seemed like this game was about over but we have one more quarter left to play.

Fourth Quarter

With this last quarter, it was fairly back and fourth as no team could get a point. Until one drive finally broke the back that is the Aggies defensive scheme, Once again it started with the JJ (Jackson & Johnny) connection having a fairly short throw for Jackson only tossing for 7 yards. Although Johnny took that to a first and more gaining 13 yards, this gave some more life to the BYU offense as the marched onto the redzone once more and with a solid from catch by Flentroy they had Davis put the final touch down of the night on the score sheet as he went in for another touch down. After another astounding kick from the freshman kicker Cullen Cline it wrapped up the game 42-20.

OOC: First of several 'cfb derbies in Quebec' RPs!

This is ICly set a week before the Saguenay-St. Croix matchup on MD3.

The Mathletes - Scientific, Literary Venue of Sports Journalism

NSCF 30: With both coaches on first NSCF campaign, and survival in Celestia on line, Crescent Crossfire expected to look different this Spring

Jerome Van Nuys

JOLBONOPOLIS, YOSEO-MANITOBA -- Everybody know about the Crescent Crossfire, even if things have kinda taken some major turns since then. There aren't a lot of those that bring out the best in this sport, whether it be on the school campuses (a fairly recent addition with Saguenay joining St. Croix and then-Iqaluit over three and a half decades ago) or the usual Apple Bowl on the third weekend of October.

The matchup, as with any other major rivalry, has its own quirks and historics written. They may come in traditions, with Bipee the Snowman on horseback squaring off with the Leprechaun riding on top of a longhorn, or the battle of two of the oldest marching bands in the country. This may also come in the 92-90 record between the two sides, with Saguenay having come back in last two (and eventual three, after today's win -e.d.-) after St. Croix famously won the four out of five straight before. Or the legendary coaches such as Philippe Constantin and Kweon Joon-Ho on one end, Aaron Chang and Baek Sang-Joon on the othr. Or that of the recent greats who have squared off, such as St. Croix's Bjorn Abelsen and Frederic Benn-Kocian to Saguenay's Ernest Bello and Wilhelm Cygnus.

This Spring's showdowns, two held with six weeks interval between them as per the protocol on the Spring football season that is NSCF held every other year, do have a slightly different tint in them. It's not as if the two coaches have faced off against each other - the last Autumn's showdown in Apple Bowl would see no. 3 Saguenay walk off with the 35-31 win over no. 2 St. Croix, on the back of Raul Sebastien Santos's 4-TD, 289-yard performance and Edouard Joh-Waabshkii’ogi recording 3 sacks against the St. Croix offensive line that had been considered a top five in the nation.

But this is indeed the first time in a while, if not ever, that both St. Croix and Saguenay will be featuring two coaches on their first NSCF season. In the past renditions of the competition at least one of the two sides would field a returning coach, with Pierre V.E. Youngblood and Hannah McKendry Kabuye being relatives to the job and having even coached as fellow coordinators as former St. Croix coach Kweon Joon-Ho. Since the same January 2063, when Youngblood's decision to take Saint John Steelers' offer (maximum job security on the league contenders) and McKendry Kabuye's resignation and maternity leave have left a void for both sides, it has not exactly looked like the past Crossfires. The current head coaches, with Sara Lee Hampton considered to be a more soft-spoken figure than Youngblood and Soakai lacking the bombastic of McKendry Kabuye, are more focused on building a team fit to their interests and specialisations and have greater interests elsewhere in the NSCF right now.

This includes survival in an ever-competitive Celestia conference, a conference that, while requiring extensive travel to southwestern Arrosia to face Northern Moravica and Loyola-Istria, but also to Saint-Kanye, another major player in gridiron and motorsports, sees an evident Arrosian makeup. The times have no doubt been different since the Quebecois schools' first stint there featuring St. Croix and none other than Queen's College, Farrer, Iqaluit and Shacewanteku universities before Saguenay's eventual admission. Since then the conference has also evolved with the return of historical power Hankow State, the introduction of Banijan schools, short round of existence involving Sanctii and Free Republican schools, and the memorable runs of Salamantic, Elephant Valley and Ratzupalfu universities, and the conference's position looks safer than ever.

Perhaps this is why the move, while a surpriser for many who have speculated possible inclusion into the Zephyr Conference they have played over a half-decade ago, was a logical destination for historic reasons when the Woodlands conference, their longtime home between two seasons, were marked as inactive due to their status as the conference that, while having run for most of its editions in past sixty-plus years, have been holding increasingly lesser and lesser clouts and returning institutions.

The move, the latest of many events that have happened between then and now, is a positive one in the end, as it brings additional intrigue and challenges for both schools. A move back to Celestia has no doubt put them on a new perspective, enough to push past the focus on the rivalry during the NSCF season and would allow individual programs to re-orient their priorities. The rivalry will still continue twice every other Spring, and once every autumn.

Not to mention no conference realignment to ruin it on autumns - St. Croix and Saguenay have that settled as one of St. Croix's three QIS nonconference opponents for long time to come. The agreement, which would run until 2084, is seen as the continuation of this 'unique situation' that would make it be played as both in-conference and out-of-conference matchup, depending on what time of the year it is played. Considering the relative struggles of many programs to maintain their non-conference rivalries, especially after a couple of realignment-related chaos in our fathers' generations, this is not a bad thing. While unusual the rivalry has already undergone various instances where Saguenay was once a NEC member, then RSECQ and now B1G, even if all of the above had been under football-specific arrangement to play six games a year while preserving 'independence', so there is nothing to .

'Well it's nothing unusual isn't it?' said former Saguenay head coach Aaron Chang, a famously-nicknamed 'Crossbow' for his teams' performance at the rivalry. 'Think of it like playing the dreaded Double Blues twice or even thrie a year, instead of once. Autumns will always be played at the Apple Bowl, and Springs at homes. It's been like that for a couple of decades now, not sure why it sounds anything different now aside from the fact that the new coaches are the new coaches.'

Mountain Conference
Predicted Order of Finish:

Titanium Division
1. Dynasty High School Royals
2. Brisara Trade School Businessmen
3. Brisara Central High School Hammers
4. City of Umbar High School Monkeys

Ingot Division
1. Umbar Hills High School Grizzlies
2. Winter Heights High School Glaciers
3. Mt. Baker High School Abominable Snowmen
4. Z'ai'ai Central High School Hooligans

The Storyline:

No more Mt. Niar High School dominating the Mountain District. No more Jatho Agricultural High School playing doormat, nor the Randan High School Rapiers playing in the midfield. No, this is going to be a wide-open conference - and the leader has to be Dynasty High School. Senior Quarterback Gill Gaines knows how to distribute the ball evenly, while Wide Receivers Drew Elliott, Jr., and Martha Larran will be his best targets; they lack defensive depth. For Brisara Trade School, Quarterback Ciar Runst uses his frame alongside quick reflexes, having Wide Receiver Arley Fiestar as his best weapon - six feet, ten inches, with hops. Geoff Rogers roams the backfield for the Businessmen, a hammer. Speaking of Hammers, Brisara Central High School possess a good Tight End in Lane McMillan, while Cornerback Isaac Deng patrols the left side of the field. Lastly, City of Umbar High School still have Quarterback Han Jo-Seob and Middle Linebacker Uriah Gimson; Han is a mobile Quarterback with an elusive first step, while Gimson is a monster in the middle of the defense.

In the Ingot Division, the Umbar High School Grizzlies are back. Quarterback Ewan Pyrehamix enters his Senior year - with good arm strength and a decent brain on his shoulders; Hal Durst is the surehanded security blanket. Sophomore Strong Safety Miley Ufghan is a ball hawk like Lisa Bonsoon. Winter Heights High School returns with their defensive pedigree, Junior Defensive End Douglas Riems being an every-down threat while Sophomore Cornerback Kristie Johansson is a sturdy corner. Mt. Baker High School have good pieces but no Quarterback - Jordan Kimsterling can blitz from everywhere, while Darius Millen knows how to make contested catches. That leaves the Z'ai'ai Central High School Hooligans - LeeAnn DuBois being the southpaw with plenty of upside in the lead, helped by Freshman Running Back Jora Iffer, a huge back.

The Season

Matchday 1
Mountain - Titanium
Brisara Central High School 49–28 Brisara Trade School
Dynasty High School 20–9 City of Umbar High School

Mountain - Ingot
Umbar Hills High School 21–24 Mt. Baker High School
Z'ai'ai Central High School 10–31 Winter Heights High School

Isaac Deng has three interceptions of Pyrehamix as Brisara Central wins the battle of Brisara; the Royals control the Monkeys without much issue. The Abominable Snowmen outlast the Grizzlies in a tight battle - Jordan Kimsterling's four sacks being important - while the Grizzlies hold the Hooligans to just 201 yards of total offense.

Matchday 2
Mountain - Titanium
Brisara Trade School 29–3 City of Umbar High School
Brisara Central High School 13–21 Dynasty High School

Mountain - Ingot
Mt. Baker High School 24–21 Winter Heights High School
Umbar Hills High School 10–14 Z'ai'ai Central High School

The Businessmen recover from their opening day loss with Arley Fiestar coming to the forefront; the Royals; Drew Elliott catches Gill Gaines's pass in the Fourth to put the game away. Mt. Baker wins their second straight close game in a row by winning a defensive game, while the Hooligans' upset of the Grizzlies puts their fans in a tizzy - they didn't think DuBois would get that final score.

Matchday 3
Mountain - Titanium
Dynasty High School 30–36 Brisara Trade School
City of Umbar High School 3–9 Brisara Central High School

Mountain - Ingot
Z'ai'ai Central High School 23–17 Mt. Baker High School
Winter Heights High School 10–3 Umbar Hills High School

Both Brisara teams win - one in a defensive battle and the other in a shootout. Winter Heights holds Umbar Hills to 103 yards of total offense while DuBois has 330 yards of total offense on her own to beat the Abominable Snowmen.

Matchday 4
Winter Heights High School 20–20 Brisara Trade School (27–20 OT)
Z'ai'ai Central High School 20–26 City of Umbar High School
Umbar Hills High School 16–13 Dynasty High School
Mt. Baker High School 34–7 Brisara Central High School

An overtime thriller sees the Grizzlies tear off the Businessmen, while the Monkeys outlast the Hooligans late, Han having a career day. The Grizzlies win their first game of the season as Pyrehamix leads a 81 yard drive with less than two minutes left. The Abominable Snowmen recover to .500, controlling the ball for more than forty minutes.

Matchday 5
City of Umbar High School 28–17 Umbar Hills High School
Brisara Trade School 43–0 Mt. Baker High School
Brisara Central High School 33–16 Winter Heights High School
Dynasty High School 43–17 Z'ai'ai Central High School

The panic is real. City of Umbar takes down Umbar Hills. Brisara Trade School forces six Mt. Baker turnovers to dominate, while the Hammers' defense comes up big against Winter Heights; the Royals keep on keeping on.

Matchday 6
Brisara Trade School 39–32 Umbar Hills High School
City of Umbar High School 6–10 Mt. Baker High School
Dynasty High School 35–10 Winter Heights High School
Brisara Central High School 23–17 Z'ai'ai Central High School

Umbar Hills's season is basically over after Ciar Runst and Arley Fiester has two touchdowns in the Fourth Quarter. Mt. Baker does what they do best against the Monkeys, the Royals handle business against the Grizzlies, and the Hammers continue their surprising play.

Matchday 7
Umbar Hills High School 13–27 Brisara Central High School
Mt. Baker High School 23–17 Dynasty High School
Winter Heights High School 10–14 City of Umbar High School
Z'ai'ai Central High School 44–20 Brisara Trade School

The Abominable Snowmen are the team to finally stop the Royals' run, as Kimsterling finds two interceptions; City of Umbar continues to stop the Grizzlies, the Hooligans double up on the Businessmen, and the Hammers are proving to be far better than anyone realizes as new Quarterback Jack Robinson develops.

Matchday 8
Mountain - Titanium
Brisara Trade School 29–23 Brisara Central High School
City of Umbar High School 38–33 Dynasty High School

Mountain - Ingot
Mt. Baker High School 7–3 Umbar Hills High School
Winter Heights High School 30–10 Z'ai'ai Central High School

Just when the Hammers started to develop, they fall at the Businessmen; the Monkeys upset the Royals as Han shines, while the Abominable Snowmen outlast the Grizzlies in a defensive battle, and the Grizzlies put the Hooligans to heel.

Matchday 9
Mountain - Titanium
City of Umbar High School 24–37 Brisara Trade School
Dynasty High School 73–19 Brisara Central High School

Mountain - Ingot
Winter Heights High School 26–14 Mt. Baker High School
Z'ai'ai Central High School 12–19 Umbar Hills High School

Shot out of a cannon, the Royals hang seventy points on the Hammers to put an end to their hopes. Brisara Trade School holds onto their slim hopes as Runst scores four touchdowns. The Grizzlies' defense trip up the Abominable Snowmen to have a final chance at the title, while the Grizzlies win just their second game.

Matchday 10
Mountain - Titanium
Brisara Trade School 3–32 Dynasty High School
Brisara Central High School 26–38 City of Umbar High School

Mountain - Ingot
Mt. Baker High School 22–24 Z'ai'ai Central High School
Umbar Hills High School 6–0 Winter Heights High School

Drama for both Divisions on the final day. City of Umbar upsets Brisara Central as both teams finish at .500, while the Royals defeat the Businessmen head-to-head - only allowing a Field Goal - to win the Titanium Division. In the Ingot, a last-minute field goal by the Hooligans give the Grizzlies a chance, but Umbar Hills grabs them by the ankle at the last minute, shutting them out to give the Abominable Snowmen their first Division title.

MVP: Winter Heights High School Sophomore Cornerback Kristie Johansson (41 tackles, 7 interceptions, 1 defensive touchdown)

Yes, her stats aren't the best. Yes, the team lost five games. However, Johansson allowed only two passes of more than twenty yards in the whole season, had a total of nineteen passes defensed, and developed into one of the best corners in the Chromatik High School Gridiron system. She's only a Sophomore? She'll have much brighter days ahead.

GSPN College Football Update, Part Four: Boreal, For Real
The first week of intra divisional play is in the books, and thanks to a timely win from UCP over Green City, the two Gesemite teams sit at the top of the conference.

Big Idea #1: Binturongs on top
With a massive win over the University of Baker Park Warriors, the Binturongs have rebounded from their loss last week in the intra-Gesemite rivalry to take the lead not only in the Boreal Division, but in the Mineral Conference. Kenan Holt had his biggest game to date, for another three hundred yards rushing and three touchdowns, with Zach Cook running one in on the ground and throwing one to former walk-on wideout Ronald Hughes. Junior kicker Juan Foster put away four field goals, including a fifty-six yard at the close of the second half.

Big Idea #2: Weepwee-Myonia was the best game nobody saw
With two and a half minutes remaining the Weepwee-Myonia game in Weepwee Saturday afternoon, the Willows led the Bulls by a touchdown, 23-16. Myonia settled for a field goal after a drive sputtered on third down, then kicked off to the Willows with just over two minutes remaining. On second and five, with the Willows only needing a first down to end the game. Myonia linebacker Harrison Stamper forced a fumble, which the Bulls recovered. Down 23-19, the Bulls marched down the field and scored with thirty seconds on the clock.

As the Myonia players celebrated on the field, they were joined by the minority of away fans who stayed to the end rather than leave to start the four-hour drive home along the easternmost stretch of the River Highway. Back in West Baighad, local fans could watch the match on GMYO, Myonia’s campus over-the-air television station, but there was no national broadcast the game. Grainy highlights trended on social media nationwide, while several players took to their own feeds to decry the lack of coverage.

Big Idea #3: UCP shocks Green City
With a four-point win over the Green City Royal Eagles, the University of Columbus-Prairie improved to 2-2, overtook Saint-Jean-Jacque-sur-Mar for third place in the Borealis Division, and removed the Royal Eagles from their perch on top of the Mineral Conference. There are many games left to play, but if the rest of the inter-division matchups go this way, it seems unlikely the next Mineral Conference champion will come from the Heartland Division.

Big Idea #3: Redbirds do just enough vs. Centrale Point
If you’d been given just the scorelines of this week’s Mineral Conference matchups, you might have been forgiven for thinking that the Redbirds might have blown out the Cranes while Constantinople won a hard-fought matchup against Baker Park. Instead, the ‘rongs held the Warriors to a single field goal, while Alexandroupolis struggled to put away its game against the winless debutants. While it is true that the Cranes never appeared to have much of a chance in this matchup, it is also hardly surprising that the ‘rongs overtook the Redbirds for the top of both the Boreal Division and the Mineral Conference.

Big Idea #4: GCAA teams continue recruiting push
With the domestic collegiate season nearly halfway over, the pace of Gesemite high school and junior college players signing their national letters of intent to play for GCAA schools has picked up. While the biggest names remain unattached, likely waiting to be courted by NSCF schools whose recruiting seasons run later, numerous three- and four-star recruits have been picked up by schools who play domestically. Most notably, Gateway Early College’s Anthony Foster, the consensus highest-rated quarterback in this recruiting class, committed to Thebes this week, while 6’7” center Joe Jenkins, an NSCF 33 grad from Central Community College, accepted an offer at the, sorry, The Eriksburg University. Jenkins will graduate from Central this winter and plans to be on campus for the Chestnuts’ crimson and slate game in the early spring.

Including summer and junior-year commitments, GSPN’s top five recruiting classes for GCAA schools this season are as follows, along with their previous rankings at the beginning of the season:
No.	School Previous rank
1 Thebes 1
2 Eriksburg 3
3 Damascus 2
4 Weepwee UR
5 Rosetta UR

Big Idea #5: Damascus continues winning streak versus Behring
The Damascus Cougars now have a transitive win over their rival Eriksburg Chestnuts, after downing Mountain Conference debutants Behring University on the road Saturday evening. Notwithstanding the Cougars’ uncharacteristic loss to Eriksburg in week two, Damascus has outscored its opponents 55-16, with all 16 of those points coming this week versus Behring. Damascus’s Cade Watson leads the GCAA in tackles with twenty-five, and the Cougars have held two opponents scoreless.

For the week five show, the Gameday cast is broadcasting from the campus of Thebes University for its home game against the Rosetta Orange Aces. Thebes is a favorite shooting location, one they visit more years than not because of the Tigers’ strong base of support in the city. Playing at Freedom Stadium, a massive, aging venue in the eastern suburbs which they share with the GFL’s Thebes Mamalukes, the Tigers draw fans from all over the country, mostly from places where the Sphinx fraternity is most active. UT is a particular favorite of the Banijan-Gesemite community, who support the Tigers alongside their Banijan teams from the motherland.

Two games are already in the bag for the team to talk about; another thrillingly close Myonia victory from Thursday night, this time 17-16 over the Behring Bluejays to improve to 3-2, and the unusual 14-14 tie between Coleman and Alexandria. Kenny starts with the Bulls, who have become somewhat of a bandwagon team in this brave new world of GCAA football.
Myonia	7 10 0 0 17
Behring 0 7 3 6 16

Kenny: So let’s start at the beginning this week, with the Myonia Bulls’ second straight close win, this time at home against the Behring Bluejays. Behring scores late in the second half the way Myonia did last week, only they go for the two-point conversion and the Bulls stop them. Is this team for real, Remy?

Remy: I think they are, Kenny, and I’ll tell you why. Real teams play through adversity. The second Myonia put up their second touchdown on Eriksburg in week three, I knew it was over, because I knew that team, even though they were defending champions, did not have the grit to humble themselves and do what they needed to to win that football game. Myonia, on the other hand, scored ten points in, what, two minutes to beat Weepwee last week, and so I thought the opposite when Behring started marching up the field in the fourth quarter. I thought "Myonia isn't going to make this easy for them", and they didn't.

Sarah: And that's why coaches make inspirational speeches, Kenny. It's not because they want to hear themselves talk, although maybe Remy does. That's why coaches know players' families, their girlfriends, their professors. It's because that coach has to know that each player on that team wants to win and is going to do whatever he or she can to make it happen. Myonia stared at defeat twice in the past two games, and both times, defeat blinked first, and that's on the players.

Solomon looks like he's about to say something, but waves the camera away. Rex eggs him on.

Rex: Come on, Solomon, what is it, man?

Solomon: Nah, man, you go.

Remy: Come on, Solomon, what you got?

Solomon: Alright, alright, fine. You know what, I'm just going to say it. Shame on the Coleman Miners and shame on the Alexandria Angels, too. How are you going to come out here in the Metro Conference, my Metro Conference, and tell me you're okay going home with a tie? How are you going to let these two country-%#@ schools show us up on national television? Jasper Vaughn, that's the head coach for Behring, I had to look it up, but Coach Vaughn, let me tell you something: thank you. Thank you for going for the two-point conversion, even though you lost, even though some jokers on Seddit are probably going to be calling for your head, thank you for having the guts to attempt to win the football game. It's like some fools are out here thinking we're playing soccer, going for ties and all that.

The cast looks somewhat dismayed by Solomon's outburst, especially on the campus of the very school where he made his name as a player and coach, but the executive producer gives the director an almost-imperceptible nod, and the cameras continue rolling.

Kenny: So clearly, that's how you felt about the Coleman-Alexandria game. Let's talk NSCF. Alexandroupolis travels away to Green City this week in a clash of two 3-1 teams. Do you think the Royal Eagles will bounce back after their loss to UCP, or is the Boreal going to continue to dominate inter-divisional play?

Rex: So I'll take this one. Green City looks great this year, the loss to UCP notwithstanding. They handled Trent State in the Earth Trophy, and Alicia Obi Michel is the best quarterback in the Mineral Conference, if not in NSCF. The Redbirds’ defense has struggled a little bit this year with offenses that bring a lot of power–look at what Kenan Holt did to them in the River Highway Rivalry game. It’s mostly a young, inexperienced defensive back room at Alexandroupolis this year, and I won’t be surprised if Green City puts on a show against them. I’m going Green City by twelve.

Remy: You’re right, Rex, but the talent deficit isn’t just on defense. Alexandroupolis had a bumper crop last year of really, really good players who stepped up to take them to the conference championship, but the depth wasn’t there for them in the playoffs, and it’s definitely not there now. They’re starting four underclassmen on their offensive line, and these aren’t bad kids, but they don’t have the size or the experience to be playing this many snaps at this level.

Sarah: I’d go for the positive side for Green City. You talked about resiliency, Remy, and not just team resiliency but individual resiliency. I think Michel is a star, and her receivers are dialed in, and they’re going to be ready to put the loss to Columbus against them–it was a close game, they lost by less than a touchdown–and do what they need to to win the Heartland Division and maybe get to the playoffs.

Kenny: And for Constantinople, going away to Trent State, what do we think?

Solomon: I think it’s a win for the Binturongs. I mean, the Feathercaps are at five hundred, they the Heartland Division’s only win last week against Saint-Jean, but I just don’t think they have an answer for Kenan Holt, and even if they shut him out or he has an off day, Zach Cook has a lot of weapons to choose from. Hughes, Phillips, Baker, can all catch anything he throws their way, and I just don’t think Trent State is ready. I honestly think Constantinople is going to sweep the Heartland, and if I just jinxed them, then that’s on me.

Rex: Yeah, I think everyone right now is trying to figure out how to contain Holt, and the only team that’s cracked the code is Alexandroupolis, and you saw what happened there. If nobody else can keep him under two hundred yards, I think you’re looking at Constantinople as a playoff team.

Kenny: Bold predictions for Constantinople, both in this game and the rest of this season. What about the game we’re here for, the matchup tonight between the Thebes Tigers and the Rosetta Orange Aces?

Solomon: It better not be a damn tie is all I’m saying, but you know I support my Tigers.

Remy: Tigers by fourteen. Rosetta’s in a rebuilding year, and they’ve done a great job recruiting, but it’s going to take a couple years for that to pan out.

Jackson Zuercher Pt 4.

In the fading glow of the stadium lights, I stood there, catching my breath, watching Tight-end Johnny Wall thunder into the end zone for that last touchdown. The roar of the crowd reached a deafening crescendo as the reality sunk in BYU had just dismantled the supposed best defense in the Big 8, clinching a 26-9 victory over Richardson University. The sound you could hear from the BYU stadium was electric as BYU has yet to beat Richardson, and this was a first in a while and who else could have done it other than another Zuercher.

With a grin that could light up the night, Jackson sprinted towards Johnny, flanked by the BYU teammates who had fought side by side with me throughout the game. Celebratory chaos ensued as we exchanged high-fives, chest bumps, and a few victory dances. It was a moment of joy and hype that a lot of people couldn’t understand, the culmination of weeks of hard work and dedication. As the adrenaline-fueled celebration reached its peak, Jackson made his way over to the Richardson University players. Handshakes and pats on the back were shared, acknowledging the hard-fought battle on the field. Despite the intense competition, there was a mutual respect among athletes, a recognition of the shared grind and commitment to the sport. As him and BYU knew that Richardson was one of the big juggernauts of the Big 8 and he knew that, so he had a huge amount of respect for the Richardson boys even so it was a good game and he enjoyed the challenge.

But after the exchange of sportsmanship, Jackson made his way to the stands, where the BYU fans and student section were still reveling in the triumph yelling and celebrating jumping up and down singing the stadium music that had some changes as BYU grew from an only Mormon focus but having students from a lot of walks of life. But nothing changes as once the fight-song came of Jackson could hear the fight song echoing through the air as he listened he almost immediately joined in with the crowd along with his teammates joining the crowd as they sang, and he just let the energy of the crowd wash over him enjoying the song and just the intensity of the student section so he smiled. As he saw a sea of blue and white, as the student section was alive with chants and cheers celebrating the win against Richardson U.

Embracing the cheers and enjoyment of the student section, Jackson spent a good minute with the fans, soaking in the moment. Then, feeling the infectious spirit of the crowd, Jackson honestly couldn't resist the urge and leap up and join the student section. The chanting of "BYU" intensified, as Jackson saw Johnny join him as they were yelling and celebrating with the passionate supporters. But eventually, Johnny and Jackson made their way back to the locker room, the euphoria of the win still pulsating through their veins. Soon enough as the players were calming down from celebrating, coach Jay Bates entered the room, his voice cutting through the celebrations. He reminded us of the next challenge University of Autamina and the sizable victory BSU had secured against them winning 60–24 against the Autamina team that seemed to print propaganda? Jackson didn’t care he just focused up and listened to coach. "Let's aim for a shutout, boys! Defense and offense, let's kick their teeth in! Be aggressive, have aggressive hands. Beat them down like you beat down Richardson! BYU on three... 1, 2, 3..." The rallying cry echoed, and as a second family, we all bellowed in unison, "BYU!" The locker room erupted once again, and in that moment, the shared commitment to excellence bonded us tighter than ever before.

CORPSGUY725'S BLOG

Fine, I'll Write an Article About the NSCF
so what the hell is going on with Sadeg State?

Every so often I will be flooded with requests from my loving fans for some blog content regarding the NSCF. I believe I've written stuff in the past about this competition, but I will be the first to admit that I'm not the most well-versed in college football. My name isn't just for show. I'm corpsguy. I'm totally Corpspilled, Corpsmaxxing if you will. My primary love is watching the sports teams of the Drawk Corps take the field, which is why a vast majority of my articles are about them. I doubt most people living outside of Drawkland read those, however. When DISC reorganized the National Team Corps for the various multiversal tournaments, I decided to extend my reach to cover those as well, even though the Drawk Corps is entirely unaffiliated with your Base Corps, Grid Corps, etc. One day, I believe that foreigners will understand the difference.

ANYWAY, once Drawk Corps University was dumped out of the NSCF slate (rightfully so, I might add), I stopped paying close attention to the competition. I have a billion other games to watch, and I care a lot more about the World Bowl flavor of international spring/summer football. Whenever something notable happens, I would tune in. I listen or watch shows that mention what's going on in the tournament, so it's not like I'm clueless, but it's just not my priority. Even so, I still get bombarded with fan messages asking me to talk about the NSCF in the ways that only I can. Which seems silly to me, but whatever. I don't know jack. I just have slightly more ball knowledge than the average internet content consumer.

what happened last season

Okay, so let's start by quickly recapping what happened last NSCF season. Cavsar University went 8-2, losing the Starlight Division title to Felswyr State on tiebreakers. They then went 1-2 in the out of conference set, landing them the #7 seed in the NSCF playoffs. They beat Saguenay (who they lost to earlier in the season) in the first round, only to lose to the other Quebecois school, St. Croix, in the quarterfinals. A little disappointing, especially with how close they came to a conference title, but honestly not bad considering the typical Cavsaran fare.

Now let's look at Sadeg State-OH GOOD GOD. 5-5 in the conference stage? Had to go 2-1 in the out of conference slate just to land above .500? Then go to something called the Agave Bowl and lose by 10 points to Ratzupalfu, a school that's not even participating this year.

Forgive me for my ignorance, true NSCFheads, but does this make sense to you? At all? I thought Sadeg State was big brother. I thought Cavsar was a gimmick team that DISC chose because they were afraid of ruining a real team (like what happened to Drawk Corps U). I get that this is spring/summer football, something that most people considering an exhibition, but the upper tier schools actually take this seriously. Sadeg State won a title a few years ago, for shit's sake. What's the excuse, Skyhawks? Don't give me the crap about Sadeg State's football program still being in the development stages. That was almost 20 years ago. By the time you became the NSCF entry, you were a full-fledged team. Cavsar has had arguably less time since becoming relevant, and they're pissing all over you.

this season

Oh right, I haven't even brought up this season yet. So Sadeg State has this dogwater NSCF season, has a mid-ass domestic season afterwards, and now we're back to present day. And what has improved? LITERALLY NOTHING. Check out this shitty table I cobbled together in eight minutes. Through four weeks of the NSCF season, Cavsar is 3-1, having beaten both Chromatik schools. Sadeg State is 2-2, and one of those is a win against the gimme school from the other division.

This is where State apologists will go "ohhh, but corpsguy look!! look!!! they beat the piss out of Cavsar! in week 3!! look they're actually a better team! 50-17!! please do not look at any other row in this table, please, I'm begging you don't!!!" This is where State apologists need to shut the fuck up. Sadeg State and Cavsar have played each other dozens of times in the last few years. Not only do they get the home-and-away matchups in the NSCF, but they've also had a couple out-of-conference clashes in the DOCA season and even some postseason dates together. These two teams are very familiar with each other, and the coaching staff has remained pretty consistent for each school. They know each other's tricks at this point, and sometimes all you need is to come away with a few quick scores (helped with a couple turnovers), to put the other team behind the curve and boatrace them to the finish.

That's what happened in Week 3. Sadeg State got the ball, scored, got lucky on a no-call PI to force Cavsar three-and-out, scored on a long throw, then got a fumble six off a Cavsar receiver, all in the first 8 minutes of play. All the Skyhawks had to do is hold serve, and Cavsar couldn't catch up. To be fair, Scott Linhart's insistence to go for it on fourth down, especially when down by so many scores, hurt them more than it helped them. Now, would having a few extra field goals have helped Cavsar win this game? No, but at a certain point you knew the Gladiators weren't going to pull it out, not to mention they were playing in Sadeg.

Watch this, State fans. I have this table printed out. I just took a black marker and completely marked out Week 3. I'm pretending it doesn't exist. And then I did math to correct the first row. Now what do we see? Cavsar, undefeated. And allow me to remind you, they beat both Chromatik schools. They've got a point differential of +61, and currently lead the conference. They lead the conference in real life, too, but I wanted to reiterate that. Sadeg State? They're 1-2. Their only win is from the Equinox Division, and they have a point differential of -33. What do you see there? That's right, a bad football team. Go ahead and talk about how your roster could beat half the NSCF, I don't care. The Drawkian schools play in the Starlight Division (which I hear is the hardest division in college football), and you're bottoming it out for the second year in a row.

That's what's hilarious to me. Sadeg State and Brand Manlio had a whole year of thinking about how they only went 5-5 in the conference stage, only 1 win outside of cross-divisional play. They had an entire year of development for QB Isaac Hext, where he didn't have to worry about playing second fiddle to Anderson Fox (not like it matters, they both suck). They had the entire domestic season to work out the kinks, and what is the result? The exact same shit as last year. Seriously, look at these results. Sadeg State better hope they they don't join Staramara Tech in the "embarrassing loss to an Equinox school" club, because they will literally not even go .500 if that happens. The Skyhawks are heading full speed ahead into another 5-5 conference season, where they have to scrape together their OOC wins just to lose a crappy bowl game. It's insane, honestly, because that sounds freakishly similar to the Cavsar playbook from like five years ago.

The time has come to admit it, State fans. You and Cavsar traded places. You are little brother. You are an embarrassment to Drawkian college football. If NSCF 31 ends up being another mid season? Forget it. People will be calling for State's exclusion from the NSCF with zero remorse. You wanted to have the glory of Drawk Corps U, playing on the international stage? Congrats, you're now like Corps U. I have zero remorse, by the way. I'm actually laughing as I type this. Go ahead and be smug bastards for a decade, because when your time is up, nobody is going to feel bad. Good riddance.

the issue?

Sorry, I may have gotten carried away there, but whatever. So what is the issue at heart here? Cavsar has put together a solid roster, mostly carried by Logan Oakley's brilliance under center. He's got great receiver chemistry, a running back room you can't complain about, and an offensive line that gets the job done. Couple that with a defense that may not be eye-popping, but they get big stops and bend more than they break. They're not a juggernaut, but you cannot complain about that. I look at this roster, I watch their film, I see a Good College Football Team. Given what those inbred hicks that call themselves Cavsar fans have had to deal with the last few decades, I'm sure they're over the moons.

Sadeg State, meanwhile, is just inexplicably bad. A lot of their defensive prospects have simply not panned out. New defensive coordinator Chris Pearson was brought in to shore up this unit, and he's done jack shit. Danube Jackson III is a beast, but the rest of the secondary is so putrid that opponents will just throw wherever Jackson III isn't. It's hard for him to have that insane impact on the defensive side when he has zero support. Looking at this front seven is funny to me. It doesn't look like actual players, but just a list of names from a random name generator. Seriously, when is the last time you've heard any of those names outside of the standard game play-by-play? They're nobodies. None of these clowns are getting drafted. No offensive line looks at the scouting report and goes "oh shit boys, we better be tight this week." They go "hey, let's see how hammered we can get the night before while still allowing zero sacks on gameday," because they have zero fear.

State's offense is only slightly better, in the way that you'd rather have 27 pounds of cow shit dumped on your head, rather than 28 pounds of cow shit dumped on your head. Isaac Hext and Anderson Fox spent like three seasons battling for the starting position. Watching that was like watching two tanking teams turn the ball over constantly to let the other team win. Some call it a race to the bottom. Now Fox is graduated, so nobody stands in the way of him sucking ass. The offensive line doesn't seem to communicate at all, leading to lots of missed assignments and untouched blitzers nearly murdering Hext in the pocket. The running backs aren't terrible, but nothing to write home about. Honestly, the receiving core isn't that bad, but they can only do so much when Hext can't throw the ball downfield, has limited mobility, little time in the pocket, and regularly misses routine throws. It's just all-around horrendous to watch, and if it wasn't for the preexisting athletic skill gap between a blue chip school and midmajors, this team wouldn't win any games.

the solution?

Quite honestly, I have no idea what the solution is. Sadeg State has consistently good recruiting classes, it just seems that the development has been painfully bad lately. Hopefully once their DC gets a little more experience, a little more time to install his gameplan, the defense can build itself into a group that won't give up 40 points a game.

Offensively, it's a little more dicey. As bad as Isaac Hext is, at least he has experience. At least he's been starting NSCF games on and off for a few years. At least he's been in the system awhile. Who's next in the pipeline once Hext graduates this year? Jimmy Chapman, who will be in his sophomore season. He was supposed to be this high-ceiling, low-floor recruit coming out of Drawk City a few years ago. From what I've heard about his performance in practice ... it looks like he's bought a crowbar to try and rip out the floorboards and dig into the foundation. So he might be a wash. Now I heard they nabbed a hyped-up recruit this offseason, who is-

BROOKLYN BECK?!?!?!?!? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA ... *ahem,* sorry, something in my throat, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. This truly is the biggest shark jumping moment of all time. Sadeg State actually fell for the meme. They legitimately think that Brooklyn Beck might be the future. I'm sorry, this might be the funniest thing I've ever heard. They think that she's going to be like her dad, just because she's also a somewhat mobile QB and has the same last name. They actually think that she'll be able to compete at the NSCF level. This is comedy of the highest order!

As a baseball recruit, okay, I get it. But there's no reason to put her on the football roster. She's underweight compared to the average top level QB recruit, so her mobility is going to be punished quickly. She has a decent arm, but nothing like Oakley or even Nick Parks back in the day. I can't even remember the last time a woman even started at QB for a top division DOCA team. Listen, call me sexist all you want, but if you ripped the name off the scouting report and switched the pronouns, you'd call that guy trash and question State for even sending him a postcard in the mail. "High ceiling, corpsguy, high ceiling!" Yeah fucking right.

The funniest part is that apparently Linhart was heavily trying to recruit Ms. Beck for Cavsar. If that's true, it makes this even funnier. The old saying goes "never interrupt your enemy when they're making a mistake," but allegedly that's exactly what Sadeg State did. When Brooklyn Beck has to start games for State and they play just as bad if not worse than they are now, while Cavsar continues to dominate, I might die of laughter. This might be enough to get me to regularly watch the NSCF again, just for the schadenfreude.

Honestly, I take it back. There is no solution. Sadeg State is Fucked with a capital F. This franchise will be considered poverty in five years. University of Raikennax fans, rejoice, you may get your shot in the NSCF sooner rather than later.

Cavsar, just keep doing what you're doing. Logan Oakley seems to be the man, we'll just have to see how they do once he graduates and leaves the program behind. Somehow they still have another year after this with Oakley under center, which is simply excellent for them. If the defense can just fill their few gaps (and I hear they got some excellent prospects this recruiting class), they could legitimately make a run at the NSCF title. They could even do that this year, but for some reason I still don't trust them going against the Chromatik schools. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Maybe this is the year Cavsar finally wins the conference title?

Hahahaha. That's almost funnier than the Brooklyn Beck thing.

Alright, I hope this satisfies the urges of you sick bastards for corpsguy college content. Now leave me alone, I have to sit in the dark and cry about the fact that Corps U will never get invited back to the NSCF slate.

Onwards Into Chaos

Postby TJUN-ia » Thu Jan 25, 2024 4:51 pm

The Earth Trophy spoke a lot...but it also did not. The latter was proved this week as Heartland faced the Boreal to start the true blob of the schedule. So what happened next?

For the Trent State Feathercaps, they were 1-2 and in desperate need for a bounceback win as they headed Stade Georges-Étienne Latouche to face the Université nationale de Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer Toucans, or NUSJJSM for short. The Toucans were certainly an interesting team and Xavier Plouffe-Maheux is and interesting QB who managed 2 TDs today, both via Davidson Jean-Gilles, while Jean-Jacques Cauchon went 1/2 on PATs. But Johnny Bridgeford was on a mission and he wasn't going to be denied here, with Jessica Daniels throwing 4 TDs (2 each to Yurilka Zelinskaya and Catherine Alcaraz-Cortéz) while "Jenkins" managed 3/4 PATs and 1/2 on FGs. 31-13 was the final score, enough to make it back to 2-2.

Meanwhile, the Green City Royal Eagles were 3-0 and heading to Dhemixia to face a 1-2 Columbus-Prairie Blue Jays side we knew not much about. Alisha Obi Michel did pretty well in this game with 5 TDs (2 each for Harrison Jeffers and Yassan Namnganda, with Carlton McSwane getting the 5th) with Colleen Fletcher Christian making 4/5 PATs...but everyone got the sense that Craig Kelly came prepared for this one and Brigantine Park bore witness to a football miracle. Jerry Atkinson okayed out of his skin to score 5 TDs of his own (3 for Kabe Heaton, 1 each for Michael Wallace and Miles Gray-Rasmussen) while Sam Gustafsson became key with 5/5 PATs and 1 FG as well. The final few minutes were certainly tight but in the end, the Blue Jays did enough to cause the 38-34 upset and the field storm that followed was certainly justified. GCU were unbeaten no more....and UC-Prairie deserved that honour.

Constantinople heads to Notts for TSU's Homecoming weekend. Alexandropolis will also be in TJUN-ia, facing off with Green City. Our matchups with the teams from New Gesem are always massive for the shape of the whole Mineral Conference...and this time will be no different.

SUNDAY Q&A: MIKE RANDALL

SILVER Coast State College quarterback Mike Randall has been crucial to their transition between the SANCAF and NSCF play. Currently boasting a statline of 27/45 for 552 yards and 4 TDs, while rushing for 275 yards on 44 attempts for 4 TDs, the redshirt freshman has been nothing but stellar through 4 games. Having lead the Cadets to a 2-2 start, second in their division and in a four-way tie for second in the conference, he looks to continue his early success against Sadeg State University. Today, he sits down with ShockSports columnist Marv Harlemeyer to discuss the current season.

Q: "I mean, I think we all know how different the NSCF is from SANCAF, what was the adjustment like between the two?"

A: "Well, Marv, I could definitely get used to these 'Roughing the Passer' penalties and the like. Not to opposed to the facemask rules either. *chuckles* But if you want my honest answer, I think it's gone pretty smooth. There have been hiccups here and there but overall I think the guys have adjusted well."

Q: "That was a tough Felswyr State loss yesterday, could you tell me what went wrong?"

A: "Not much I have to say about that. Felswyr State played some damn good football. Still kicking myself about that two-point conversion at the end."

Q: "Expanding on the team's performance, what's going to be the key factor for this team going forward?"

A: "Physicality. 100%. I think we can go with just about any team in the multiverse if we can continue this level of physicality. Not to say the NSCF isn't physical, but SANCAF is a whole different breed in my opinion."

Q: "A big deal was made about whether you guys could keep up with the athleticism of the NSCF. Four games in, how would you respond to the critics?"

A: "I would say that we've proven we can run with the big boys so far. There's not much else I could say other than point at the results. A 25-point win over a team that made a conference championship appearance last season says enough."

Q: "Now, turning the conversation to yourself a little more. A lot of people know you were a highly touted football and lacrosse recruit out of high school, but many forget you were also an All-Province wrestler. How would you say that's helped you in your football career?"

A: "Marv, I couldn't possibly overstate how valuable it's been to me. Especially as an option quarterback, the skillset gained from that still serves me well now. My first collegiate offer was to go wrestle at a Division C school, believe it or not. Glad to be here today though."

Q: "And of course everyone remembers how you ended up choosing to play football at Silver Coast instead of lacrosse at Saint Richard's."

A: "*Laughs* Yeah, putting the St. Richard's hat [CENSORED BY SOUTH AMERICANASTAN NEWSPAPER ETHICS COUNCIL] before I tossed it into the crowd while on fire wasn't my finest moment. Live and learn though, am I right? *chuckles*"

Q: "Taking the redshirt year was a surprise to a lot of observers who thought you'd start off the bat. Could you explain what happened there?"

A: "I mean it's pretty simple. *chuckles* At that point we knew we were going to the NSCF and the coaching staff wanted to preserve my eligibility. We just didn't realize we'd be going it alone until later."

Q: "There's been talk of possible schematic changes at Silver Coast in response to the rule changes that come with the NSCF. Could you tell me more about that?"

A: "I couldn't tell you anything about that. From what I know, the wishbone is staying."

Jays upset Green City, stun undefeated Royal Eagles at home

Jerry Atkinson just saved his job.

The crowd came out in droves to watch the Jays on Saturday Night, and it certainly showed. All 54,387 seats were filled, with possibly up to 60,000 including standing room, but even then, down on the field, those 60,000 felt like 120,000. In the 4th quarter alone, crowd noise caused 4 errant snaps to GCU QB Alisha Obi Michel, which hindered drives and stalled out the Royal Eagles' scoring chances.

Kabe Heaton excelled under pressure, catching three touchdowns in the same game, against arguably the best and hottest team in NSCF this season. Miles Gray-Rasmussen was consistent as ever, being a great slot and 3rd down guy, as well as picking up a touchdown and racking up a lot of catches, exactly how I envisioned him developing. Jerry Atkinson had ice in his veins, throwing 0 picks and 5 touchdowns, proving that he's not a freshman anymore, and the defense stepped up making plays and limiting the damage of one of the highest powered offenses in NSCF, which is a true and respectable accomplishment.

I think most of all though, this game was a great development game. It got the freshmen used to the feeling of pressure, and surprisingly, the young-heavy squad went against expectations and didn't crack under pressure, showing a lot of discipline and leadership, especially from the upperclassmen in order to rally the team and pull off the upset.

Next week on the slate: Centrale Pointe. While yes, Centrale Pointe hasn't won a game yet, this could turn out to be a close trap game, similar to what happened with Alexandroupolis last week. It remains to be seen what will happen, and how the Jays will use this momentum to carry on.

Richardson University,
Dietrich Stadium, Sunday Morning

Tweeeet

Kasen Harrowitz's whistle broke through the gusts driving through an empty stadium on an otherwise quiet morning. A day when a of these young men and women were used to being in church had turned into one as far from salvation as it could be.

In a testament to this Governors team, they sprinted once again, racing down the field as Kasen Harrowitz watched in absolute disgust. Not even the backups were spared from the punishment. His speech prior to the "workout" as clear - if you weren't good enough to get on the field ahead of the embarrassment of a team that took the field on Saturday, then you were just as much to blame for what happened.

No expense was spared in what was, objectively, a punishment. Even the heaters that would normally be broken out for the later games of the season hummed around the perimeters of the end zone, heat wafting across the field to the players when they crossed the line and got a precious few seconds to catch their breath. He glanced down at his watch. They were an hour in - then up at the stadium clock. The guys probably knew they had been here that long, and were hoping it'd be over on the hour. Break them a little more.

"I told you all, we'll be done when we get a good rep!" His voice boomed across the field, and he saw the Governors team collectively curse between labored breaths, "Again!"

It was a moment before anyone had the audacity to get up off the floor, a surface emblazoned with the Richardson University logo that had looked so incredibly sleek and professional during recruiting visits had turned into as comfortable a spot to rest as their beds with how gassed they were. Arms splayed over their faces, ragged and uneven breaths punctuating the room as the victims of whatever had just happened only moved to get their shaking legs more comfortable. An ambitious few had found the strength left to peel off their cleats. Nothing to break their thoughts from the misery besides Harrowitz's downright enraged speech in the wee hours of the morning - as pissed off as he'd been during his tenure as the head coach of this team. The normally level headed tactician had certainly picked up some of the fire of his predecessor, Richard Steinheil. That much was clear.

A light mist had developed in the locker room from the sweat steaming off their spent frames before an "Alright fellas," finally broke through the misery.

Not many of them moved, a few more groaned their acknowledgement as Isaiah Hunter peeled himself up onto the podium in the middle of the room. He took a moment to catch his balance, leaning heavily before he called for their attention a second time, "Eyes on me!"

Some pulled themselves into a sitting position. Others simply turned their weary heads. Isaiah couldn't help but laugh to himself - last time he'd gotten up onto his soap box like this it was to announce to this whole team that their singular focus was on winning another NSCF championship. "That sucked. But coach is right, the product we all put onto that field Saturday was an embarrassment to this university. We've got the best resume in the history of Ranorian College Football - going out and playing like that is a discredit to our classmates, alumni, the coaching staff that believes in us, and our families. So the way I see it, we can either bitch and moan about what we just went through, or we can embrace the suck together, rally, and right the ship."

"You ass," Isaiah Hunter's eyes went to fellow offensive captain Clay Lindsey, their senior guard. "But you're right," he laughed, rubbing his sweat-drenched mullet from his eyes and pulling a back of chaw from his locker, "Whatever the hell that was, I never wanna go through it again. And I don't even mean that crap," he gestured out to the field, "The running is expected. That game was one of the worst moments of my life. We had the Everless locked and then put that on the field? It's a joke."

"Thanks Clay," Hunter walked over to the big fella and, with a yank helped pull him to his feet. "Wash yourselves off, you all smell worse than sin. Team meetings are in an hour, don't be late."

Buffalo Skate Through Winless Utah State, But Offense Continues To Disappoint

Image
Cold Hill earned a 29-17 victory during their road trip to Utah State

Cold Hill isn't exactly about to hit the alarm bells, especially after an ascending BYU squad again proved their mettle by knocking Richardson down a peg. With both squads at 3-1, the Everless is very much up for grabs, and the only blemish on their record is Ranoria's all-time leader in national championships. That said, the fact that an offense this aggressive can't find a way to score thirty points, or blow out clearly inferior teams, is a problem. Viktor Rowles has certainly had his moments this season, but his production isn't living up to what's expected of Buffalo quarterbacks. He's tossed five touchdown passes through four games now. Even Aurel Strathos was putting up a higher clip than that, and with another interception on the day, his outings are starting to raise some eyebrows.

His mechanics are clean - when he has a clean pocket. Rowles has been best this season when he doesn't have to move off of his platform. That shouldn't be a problem with this beefy offensive line, but Rowles has also been holding onto the ball far too long, even in a vertical passing attack that demands long-developing routes from time to time. There's very little anticipation on his throws, in other words he's waiting for receivers to be open rather than throwing as they're about to be, and that hesitancy is what's making this offensive line break down late in plays, causing much of the inconsistency. Even his connection with the Silverman brothers hasn't seemed to help much. While the elder Enox is posting some impressive numbers as the offense's top target, Earl has just a half dozen catches this season with not much to show for them.

"We're continuing to work with him," said Chris Dale of Rowles after the win over Utah State, "The kid put up 29 points today, not going to fault him much there."

Sounds nice and all, but when you're the reigning champs against a winless side, you're expecting to set some records.

It's gotten to the point that some fans are calling for Paul Shepherd - the top pocket passer in Ranoria's recruiting class last season - but the true freshman hasn't been made available to the media. Others want to see the team rely more heavily on their running game with a beast like Hebron Naphtali in the backfield, but with him being a true freshman as well, he's only going to carry so much of the load. With a team that's always been so pass heavy and who's talent is so concentrated on offensive skill positions, Rowles has to find a way to step up his game. He's certainly earned the benefit of the doubt after throwing for 2,267 and 17 touchdowns in seven games last season, but whatever it is that's holding this kid back, it needs to be addressed and quickly if these Buffalo are going to be a factor come playoff time. This team has suffered through some bad quarterback play in Aurel Strathos and some ghastly performances by Robin Sterling, but these putrid showings from Rowles are a downright shock. If it keeps up, don't be surprised should Chris Dale look elsewhere at quarterback.
Fan of football, the Murican kind. But soccer is cool too! Just not really my thing. C(:^D/-<
I go by Ran. Unless, of course, you want to type out Ranoria. That's your decision.

Two seasons of absolutely vexing by the University of Mancodas from Poafmersia, not one school from the Empire but both schools, both of these legendary schools in the NSCF seemingly having a mental block when it came to finding a way to defeat this one team. It did not matter if it was in conference play or in the conference title game, the Mancodas simply had the Vanorians number and it was a streak that seemed quite likely to continue when the Mancodas made their way to Raynor City. The Rockets have had a notably poor start to the season by their standards and have looked like a team who is in rebuilding mode, which you could argue that they are with the number of starters that the team lost from the last two seasons. An entirely almost new defensive unit was having the growing pains of having to learn on the fly rather than during the preseason and during summer drills as many of the recruits were summer recruits and not able to enroll until the start of the fall semester, limiting their practice time before the start of the NSCF season to only two weeks. We saw the results of the lack of practice in the trip to Bowerstone, the team looking quite disjointed and out of sorts.

Coming off a loss in the Battle for the Royal Saber in Mar Sara, the team was nursing a one win and two loss record and were staying at a third loss and a guaranteed losing record from the first half of conference play as their dreaded rivals were visiting the Eternal Empire. Sophmore quarterback Odin Sørbø lacked to security of sure targets at wide out and the time to proceed through his progressions with a make shift offensive line. Yet in this game, the highly touted recruit from Magnus Academy showed the flashes of brilliance that many had seen at times last year and in his senior season in the academy league, as he was slinging around and hitting his targets with laser precision. Redshirt junior tight end Bailey Ball from Ranoria was his favorite target, pulling in nine receptions for a hundred twelve yards and a touch down, while Odin tossed four altogether, each to a different receiver. It was the sort of play that the coaches had been waiting to see from their star man all season and he finally delivered and in doing so, delivered the Rockets and all of the Empire from the hex that the Mancodas had put on them over the last few seasons. That thirty-three to fourteen scoreline will be remembered for some time and it also showed a huge amount of growth for the defense who was able to keep Mancodas mostly under wraps.

Down the way in Mar Sara, the Raiders were hosting the slightly less known other team from Poafmersia, Maximus Rochester Institute or MRI for short. MRI did not come into the matchup with any laurels, having only won one of their first three games in divisional play but they had been mostly close fought games, while their one victory was quite the blowout. It was hard to read exactly how good MRI was going to be and get a good feel for them, a situation they used to their advantage as they were playing the Raiders quite tough and were slowing down the good play from Jericho Swayne that had helped lead them to their three wins from three record. It was an unexpected tough go of it for the Celestial Division favorites against a team that they believed were far below them in the pecking order but were not showing it on the field. Despite the tough bout, they went up by a touchdown with three and a half minutes to play as Swayne connected with Samo Sarr on a twelve yard slant. MRI was driving though and had gotten down to the Raiders thirty-seven with twenty-two seconds to go. That's when redshirt senior safety Hazaiah Lagum read the quarterbacks eyes and jumped on an attempted slant route, intercepting the ball and falling on the ground to seal the game and a fourth straight win.

It is a good start for both Vanorian universities to start the cross divisional play but it by no means allows either of them to take their foot off the gas, as Raynor sits at just a five hundred record and needs to string together a winning streak to put the fear back into Mar Sara that they might get caught late in the season once more. It is unlikely to think that might be the case after the first four weeks of play but we have seen this Rockets team perform miracles in the past and the Raiders are not infallable. Tech will know that there are plenty of weaknesses to their game that can be sured up in the upcoming weeks after the scare that they had at home by MRI, who had managed to play them tougher than even the Rockets had in their home stadium. The Lathalein Celestial Stadium has been a fortress for Tech for several years now and they have to be worried that a two loss team made them have to work hard until the last drive of the game to secure the victory. Things might be good now for the Raiders but they can be better and they will need to be better if they want to secure the division, the conference, and then make a deep run into the playoffs.

“Alright alright settle down. Lastly, I just want to give a quick shoutout to one of you young men in particular. Everyone played their game, y’all killed it, 60 points, shit that’s a good night! [In the background, Alabaster Red yells ‘Helllllll yeah!’] But I want to take a moment and give some praise to this kid who played his first snaps for us tonight and looked damn good doing it, I’m sure Gigi Dudley would love to say thanks for that touchdown bomb you threw, let’s celebrate Brett Hannah!”

The LeBois Santura Bronco locker room exploded at this. They’d destroyed the Autamina Bloodhounds 60-24 in a game where barely any of the Broncos broke a sweat and their true freshman quarterback Brett Hannah took over in the fourth quarter and looked the real deal.

The 6’6, 210 pound kid stepped up with a grin on his face, throwing his fist in the air. After four years of excellence with Riverstone International School, winning games while throwing ridiculous passes and hitting the running game like a dad with his kids, he’d donned the famous blue and orange with a lifetime of confidence at his back. Bobby Dials returning for his senior year was the elephant in the room, and Brett knew if he showed out in the game time he knew he’d get, that might make BD feel more comfortable with going pro early, the Broncos would be in good hands. Tonight, he got his chance to do just that.

Starting in the third quarter, Coach Steve Valentine began rotating in the backup players. Bobby Dials kept things flowing, ensuring Zaro Rodriguez hit the ground running, helped Tikariotian tight end Erik Skarsgård carve out meaningful yardage, and hit all of the new receivers to get everyone in a rhythm. As the whistle blew to end the third quarter, Coach Valentine whistled Brett over and tastefully dapped him up.

“You know what time it is, son? It’s your time. It’s been your life to get here, I know you can do it so get out there and start slinging that ball.”

Fuck yeahhh!

As he walked onto that blue turf for the first time in an actual game, he knew this was for him. Playing ball for the Broncos, making a name for himself, throwing darts, that was his life.

Bobby Dials looked like the captain he was as he jogged off the field, clapping at the fans as he did so. He smiled at Brett, “I got ‘em warmed up for you, have some fun!” He paused for a moment, “Don’t take it too seriously, let yourself see the angle, trust.”

“Alright BD, watch me get this!”

“Here we go folks, 15 minutes left to go as we enter the fourth quarter. Your BSU Broncos are up 46-21 against the University of Autamina Bloodhounds, who made headlines recently when a…I suppose fortune teller predicted they would win 37-20. Well you have to hand it to them, if they got one thing right it’s that they got nothing right at all!

Bobby Dials is heading off the field and it’s the freshman Brett Hannah taking the field. After four years of high school football excellence, how will he handle the jump to this higher level of competition?

They line up in the gun formation, the Bloodhounds seem to be pressing down low, leaving one safety in the backfield, this could be an opportunity for the Broncos. Hannah takes the snap and looks at the field, steps up, fakes a pass to Skarsgård, and the pocket is broken! They’re charging him down, welcome to the NSCF Brett……oh he’s slipped it! He slipped the tackle and he’s got them worried now, he launches it!!! HANNAH IS GOING FOR GOLD AND……HE…HAS…GOT…IT! BRETT HANNAH TO GIGI DUDLEY, TOUCHDOWN BRONCOOOOOOOOOOOOS!!! WELCOME TO THE NSCF BRETT HANNAH!

Bobby dials and Big Red convo nervous about Richardson. You nervous? No, a bit but no. You? Same same, not really, just want to get out there and get it done.

“How you feeling man?”

Alabaster Red breathed out. “I’m feeling good, Bobby. A little tense, it’s the Governors, but I’m feeling good.”

“Yeah? What’s got you feeling so good, Big Red?” The face of the program laughed as he asked that. “Sorry dude, I just can’t believe they call you that!”

The linebacker laughed too, “I honestly can’t either but it’s kinda metal as hell so I dig it. I dunno man, I just feel good. We’ve been waxing all sorta ass all year, on and off the field, we’re the highest scoring team in the world, we just dropped a 60 pointer, I’m feeling so fucking big and ready to wreck, I’m just feeling right as shit for this BD, you tell me you don’t feel the same!”

The team’s quarterback smiled while he sighed. “Man…I’m feeling it all right now you know? I’m looking forward to it, I can’t wait to play ball……but…”

Alabaster looked at his friend, who happened to be his teammate. “What’s going on Bobby? What’s up bro?”

“I mean it’s going good but…it’s gotta keep going that way. We got eyes on us Red? You know that, but do you get that?”

“Yeah man, I mean I’ve got no pressure trying to win the defensive player of the year. You got a runner up medal for offense by the way?”

“Haha man that’s fair, that’s fair. You killed it last year and you’re on pace to double your shit this year. I just gotta QB I guess, I gotta lead us up to the victory.”

Alabaster Red paused for a moment as he tried to figure out what to say.

“Yeah…yeah you do brother. You gotta sling, I get it… I do man, I get it. You’re doing good so far, you’re killing it B.”

“I guess, yeah we’re doing alright. I just, we need to keep it going though, that’s all.”

“And we will man. And we’ll lose, it’s gonna happen. I don’t like losing, you know that shit, but…it’s gonna happen man. So let’s not stress, let’s see this out. This is our run, let’s have some fun.

Let’s have some fun.

“Yeah, yeah you’re right Red. Let’s have some fun.”

Cardenao High School League Gameweek Four

Hatathia High School Pirates 35-24 Riverstone International School Otters

Another game of football, another victory secured through the air. For the victors, Stan Aniol Dereschi hit 69% of his passes and three touchdowns for 285 yards while also rushing for ten yards, with Javen Jaramillo catching both of his passes for 75 yards, but Kyle Ball was perhaps the most effective target with his 56 yards and a touchdown. Safety Nick Stehle had a night to remember with his 4 solo tackles with a pair assisted, a tackle for loss and a sack too. Oh, he defended a pass and caught an interception too. Oh and he forced a fumble as well. Not bad, right? For the losing Otters, still reeling from losing Brett Hannah to the Broncos, Gavin Jaramillo, no relation to Javen, had a night to forget. 20 completed passes for less than 200 yards to end the night on 1000 yards for the season, the fourth most in the league.Sure he hit a touchdown but he also threw two interceptions too. Cortney Allen led both teams in rushing as he went for 76 yards and a touchdown on the ground, though he did lose an easy fumble, while Justice Harmon snuck into ninth place on the total receiving yards list with 270 thanks to his 91 yard and a touchdown night. Unfortunately he did strain his foot and will be out for a week in a must win matchup. Both teams are now 1-3 and have a lot of ground to cover if they want to pull something out of this season.

J.C. Evermore Academy Golden Titans 27-6 Timberline High School Wolves

A night that was supposed to be a somewhat competitive night ultimately ended up being not competitive at all. The first half was just a terrible half of football as the teams went into the second quarter tied 0-0, then the halftime break tied 3-3. After that, the Golden Titans ran away with it, putting up 24 more points to the Wolves sole field goal. Junior quarterback Patrick Massaquoi had a good night, he kept his good start to the year going, but viewers got the sense he could’ve done more despite his 228 yards and pair of touchdowns. Zayne Echols was the rushing king of the night with his 48 yards and a touchdown on six yards averaged on carry but he had a poor night in the air as he only caught one of his four targets. Fortunately for J.C. Evermore, Pokey Wilson delivered on his talent as he went for 111 yards and a touchdown one six catches, while linebacker Rashard Carter had nine solos, four assisted, and three tackles for loss to totally blow up the Wolves attack. For Timberline, just a night to forget about. Robbie Stephens was sacked four times and threw an interception as he hit 25 passes for 200 yards with Avery Nichols seeing 13 targets but only catching eight for 55 yards, while Miles Sikes caught five for 76 yards. In a sign of how dire the Wolves rushing game was, QB RB was their most prolific rusher, doing 24 yards on four rushes, but at least he could count on John Carlos Minhrew and Shaun Wilks to hold it down defensively with 15 combined tackles.

Quarterbacks:
J.C. Evermore: Patrick Massaquoi 19/34/55.9%/228 yards/2TDs--1 sack--96.2 rating

Timberline: Robbie Stephens 25/37/67.6%/200 yards/1INT--4 sack--69.7 rating

Skyview Mountain Academy Fliers 18-15 Obyedako High Green Dragons

From their first scoring opportunity the Skyview Fliers made it a point to show they intended to win. Seven minutes left in the first quarter and you’ve scored the first touchdown of the game? Time to go for a two point conversion! From that point, the bar was set, and the Fliers were the only ones who could clear it. Junior quarterback Peppi Klerkx had a mixed but effective enough showing with his pair of touchdowns and 235 yards, but a late interception threatened to throw it all away. Fortunately senior linebacker Dakota Stevens added his ninth, tenth, and eleventh tackles of the night to force a three and out from the Green Dragons. For the winning Fliers, Ross Gonzales ran for 73 impactful yards on nine rushes while Dejanian Mentor caught three passes for 77 yards and a touchdown, and freshman receiver Joseph Richardson caught his single target for 63 yards and he brought it to the house with 11:23 left in the third quarter. Forrrr the Green Dragons, Wyatt Harmon…he had a rough first start of his career, only completing 13 passes for just over 110 yards and a brutal sack from Tau Cobb. Kendall Arnold had a great night on the ground for Obyedako as he converted 14 rushes into 102 yards and a touchdown and added eight yards on a catch. Tyler Sadler was the teams highest performing receiver as he caught seven catches for…41 yards, only 112 passing yards is a recipe for disaster, but fortunately for this low performing offense, the defense was there to give it their all. Brandon Ladner, Broderick Jenerou, and Corey Lanier, these three linebackers had brilliant nights, combining for 16 total tackles, each one coming at vital moments but they couldn’t do it all for the team.

Academia Cardonia Golden Knights 24-7 Escuela Nacíonal DCPF Footballers

In one of the most highly anticipated games of the season, it was La Academia vs La Escuela, two schools going at it in a battle to win. Things looked so rosy for the Escuela Footballers when Brandon Benson threw his…only touchdown of the game for the only score of the first quarter. After that though, the Golden Knights came knocking and the Golden Knights came conquering with 24 unanswered points. Truth be told, their quarterback Thomas Romeijnsen didn’t have a good night. Less than 150 yards on 29 attempts, a touchdown but nine sacks? Not necessarily something you write home about, but then again Thomas has the second lowest passing yards, with only 635 after four games, but at least he was the most accurate quarterback in the game with his near 73% completion rate. Drew Watts ran in a decisive touchdown with 4:25 left in the game, to add to his 34 total yards. Junior running back Andrew Kun Wah Lee had yet another disappointing game, sure he was #9 on the total touchdown list, but his overall level of play has been far beneath that of a pre-season consensus best running back in the nation. Oh wait…he caught all three of his targets for 88 yards and a touchdown, very interesting! La Academia Cardonia scored the first defensive touchdown of the season when junior safety Daron Louis returned an interception 62 yards for a touchdown with less than a minute left in the game.

Quarterbacks:
La Academia: Thomas Romeijnsen 20/29/69.0%/146 yards/1TD--6 sacks--92.0 rating

Brøgby Preparatory Academy Miners 38-20 Ficilian Point Raiders

On a night where both teams combined for barely over 100 rushing yards, it's no surprise this game between the Miners and the Raiders turned into a battle for throwing supremacy, and it was senior Michael Monrovia who came out on top, quite commandingly. The MVP frontrunner put in another fantastic performance he passed for over 400 yards and three touchdowns in a dominant display from a quarterback despite the interception and staggering six sacks he was subjected to. Sophomore Dallas Simmons continued his MVP runnerup campaign as he caught 12 of 18 passes for an astounding 176 yards and a touchdown to boot. Senior tight end Rio Good put in a strong showing with his 88 yard performance on eight catches, while senior wide receiver Elgin Spencer caught 88 yards too, on eight catches. For the losing Raiders, senior QB Nico Weston had a good night, throwing for over 300 yards despite his 56% accuracy, hitting two touchdowns as well. Junior wideout Andrew Legnfish had a night to remember with his 143 yards and two touchdowns on four catches, while junior Sammy Hoffmann had the best night of his career as he smashed Michael Monrovia for four sacks.

Quarterbacks:

More Chaos, Huh

Postby TJUN-ia » Sat Jan 27, 2024 12:21 pm

Last week felt like a reintroduction to the Mineral Conference...especially a certain Blue Jay team. Now, TJUN-ia's NSCF teams have to press on and try and restore our reputation as a nation that can do something in this sport. Did we prove that here as we took on the teams of New Gesem on our turf?

Trent State didn't. That's for certain. This was supposed to be their celebration, a Homecoming weekend to celebrate Feathercap glories of the past to build for the future...but it simply wasn't to be at all. Jessica Daniels did manage 3 TDs, all to Yurilka Zelinskaya, with "Jenkins" going 3/3 on PATs. That was fine and all...but Kirby Wright wanted blood and he fucking got it. Zachary Cook cooked with 5 TDs while Joe Parker came on for a 6th to really put into context just how down-bad this team is. Binturongs win comfortably, 40-21, and the Caps must think about 2-3 again.

Meanwhile, the Green City Royal Eagles were in the Bounceback mode against Alexandroupolis Redbirds and uh...yeah, let's just say they bounced back. Larry Sanchez could only manage 2 TDs in this contest, both to Sean Parker with James Henderson (?) tagging on points both times, but that was all they could manage because our defence didn't allow them to - with Mariyam Mirfath's 5 sacks putting authority onto the whole game. Alisha Obi Michel didn't need any further invitations to ball out and she certainly did with 5 TDs, 2 each to Freeman and Yassan Namnganda with Carlton McSwane getting the 5th, while Colleen Fletcher Christian managed 5/5 on PATs and 1/3 on FGs in a good day for the team in green. Back to 4-1. back to form. End of story.

The homestand continues as Columbus-Prairie heads to Notts and UNSJJSM to Green City. We need wins, pure and simple, and we hope to push forward no matter what.

Deondre Rhine shook his head as he watched Viktor Rowles struggle out on the field against New Cardonia State, "See, this is why you recruit guys with a god complex. I really think Coach Dale over there forgot what got him so far in this business, and now he tries to recruit these high character guys. Well, guess what, those high character guys take the blame when they screw up and internalize it. And now, your quarterback sucks!"

One of his teammates, baffled, cocked his head, "Didn't your god complex break up one of the best offenses in Ranorian Football League History?"

"Alessandra Mio has done literally nothing since she left the Dynamos," Rhine shot back, "And Johnny Farmer literally retired afterwards."

"Mio won three RFL championships and two more offensive player of the year awards, she leads the RFL in most career metrics for receivers," another guy shot back, "Plus helped establish a dynasty in Ranoria City. She's literally the best wideout in the history of the league."

"Yeah, with Sarai Gwenderyn throwing to her," Rhine countered, "Literally the second best player in the world." He didn't elaborate on the praise - it was obvious who was better than her, especially to his own teammates, those whom had been blessed to witness to his grandeur day in and day out.

"And Farmer is a three time world bowl champion." The first guy chuckled along with other players around them, "You sure you weren't the problem?"

"Of course Farmer is a three time World Bowl champ," Rhine waved them off, "Ranorians are the best at football, everyone else sucks. I mean come on, our last one was over Banija, does that even count? They were so bad that I didn't even have to come in for that one."

Rhine went to pull out a blunt and a lighter, not even noticing as the chatter in the rest of the clubhouse completely stopped at that last line.

Flick, flick

"Ugh, must've busted the thing," he complained, looking up, "Anyone got a light?" He scanned the room, seeing a combination of shocked, indignant, wounded, and enraged faces, and bit his lip as he worked to decipher the mixed emotions of his underlings. Then he snapped his fingers, pocketed the blunt, and laughed when he figured it out, "Right, my bad guys, no smoking in the facility. I'll go hotbox my car."

Buffalo Freshman Paul Shepherd Reportedly Splitting Reps With Rowles In Practice Following Another Putrid Showing For This Offense

In another rough outing for Viktor Rowles, the Buffalo defense held their opponents to one touchdown in The Tundra to scrape by with a win at home. The junior quarterback had his second multiple-interception game of the season without finding the end zone, with the first coming on the game's opening drive. After starting things off with a couple quick slants and a screen pass to running back Kayley Lewis, Chris Dale felt Rowles was in rhythm, and called for a deep crossing route to the fastest player on this team in wideout Heine Stølan. The explosive weapon had the coverage beat by a few yards, but fans would immedietely cringe as he tried to reverse course to snag a ball placed well behind him... only for cornerback Theodore Usania to catch the wayward pass in stride and return it 38 yards, giving his offense excellent field position that freshman quarterback Nick Singer took full advantage of.

You can find clips of Chris Dale's frustration all over social media - both from that interception and the one on the second drive. After hitting what was his best throw of the day with a 41 yard bomb to Enox Silverman on a deep post, Rowles immedietely coughed up the ball, completely missing the linebacker on his checkdown and turning the ball over right there. The Buffalo still came away with a win - but it took five field goals as their offense repeatedly sputtered out inside the thirty. Their lone touchdown came on a 46 yard breakaway run by freshman running back Hebron Naphtali.

"We're working on his ability to read the field," said Chris Dale following that showing, referring to Viktor Rowles, who' now thrown just 4 touchdowns and 6 interceptions this year. "Rowles is our quarterback going forward and that isn't changing anytime soon, we have our guy. Just have to figure out how to get him out of this slump he's found himself in."

Despite his verbiage, Rowles is now reportedly splitting reps with freshman Paul Shepherd, the #2 ranked quarterback in Ranoria last season. Shepherd's a 6'6" obelisk with a cannon for an arm, and Chris Dale broke longstanding tradition by putting him in for the final drive of the game against New Cardonia State. Cold Hill typically never pulls its starter, aside from that one odd game seven seasons ago when Diamond Rhine was behaving even more strangely than usual. Shepherd passed just twice, picking up sixteen yards, but getting him in the game at all may be more of an indication of where this coaching staff is at than anything. If Viktor Rowles can't turn things around quickly, Chris Dale isn't going to wait for the teeth of this schedule to come around before he makes a change at the most important position in sports.

Scorched Earth:
Governors Respond To Harrowitz, Post One of the Most Dominant Performances In Program History

Image
Richardson's team showed up back in Dietrich Stadium, running a team with legit Big 8 Title aspirations straight off the field

"This program is held to a certain standard," Kasen Harrowitz had said at press conference on Monday, "Losses like that are completely unacceptable for a team with championship aspirations, and performances like that will not be tolerated."

Perhaps it shouldn't be surprising to see how incredibly well this team responded, knowing the trust this program has in their coach from top to bottom. Lebois Santura came out with a loaded box for much of the first half - not surprising when you're playing an offense that calls run plays more than half the time. What they failed to account for, though, was that Isaiah Hunter is still under center, and the former NSCF champion absolutely torched the Broncos early in one of the most prolific showings of his own career. Hunter's always done his job and done it well, but Saturday he finally got to show off his arm.

Richardson's first three drives all ended with touchdown passes as they ran it up 21-3 early in the second quarter. Combine Lebois Santura's lack of coverage over the top and Richardson's preference to use their tight ends, and Mugisha Mulogo and Hezekiah Thomas absolutely wreaked havoc, muscling their way through defensive backs who often clocked in sixty pounds lighter than themselves. Mulogo would snag two of those touchdowns, while the squad's top wideout in Hughie February brought one in for himself.

And when Lebois Santura finally seemed to have some mojo on the next drive, Bobby Dials was crushed by pass rusher Julian Anneliese just as he got to the top of a deep drop back, only further emboldening the Richardson crowd. And on third and forever, everyone pinned their ears back. This time, it was big Roger Jackson breaking through the middle of the offensive line to get pressure, and Dials was forced to throw under pressure, never a good prospect against this football team. Munanaire Tembo was there to make sure that mistake didn't go unpunished.

The Banijan corner jumped the route perfectly for his second interception of the season, and immedietely started dashing the other way with it. As fast as he was though, Bobby Dials took a perfect angle, and Tembo looked over his shoulder, his eyes lit up, and he pitched the ball back just as Dials drove his shoulder straight through the corner.

Vilde Lauritzen, as great a corner as she is, certainly hadn't seen that one coming. She bobbled the ball for a moment before securing it, but with the entire offense having been pursuing Tembo, they never had a chance at her, and Richardson's crowd was the loudest they've been all season when she crossed the plain and handed the ball right to the referee.

"Listen, the coaches don't like it," Tembo admitted after the game, "But we're a product for the school in the end. We gotta be a profitable investment. And you know we do that? Ratings and highlights, baby."

And the off-script play definitely caught Lauritzen off guard, but she was instinctive enough to make it work, and Richardson was up 28-3.

The next Lebois Santura drive stalled out courtesy of a Packard Goss deflection on third down, and Isaiah Hunter continued to pile it on, hitting a career high fourth touchdown pass in the first half alone, this time to big Hezekiah Thomas for his first score of the season and putting this one comfortably out of reach.

And from there, Benjamin Merik and Ragnar Sampson took over.

The second half was largely a formality, and Isaiah Hunter's name was only called for on a few third and long situations. And where the first half saw two monsters at tight end terrorizing the defensive backfield, in the final two quarters it was this team's menacing backs laid waste to the Broncos defense. Ragnar Sampson, a former top recruit and a Red Elefriend transfer, and Benjamin Merik finished the game with more than 280 combined rushing yards. Both would play for most of the game, only coming out with about five minutes left in the fourth quarter - with two such closely matched talents, it's likely the coaching staff wanted to get a bead on who the best of the two is. To this point, Sampson is posting 5.4 yards per attempt to Merik's 4.8, but Merik is also handling a significantly higher workload.

The first drive would see Sampson piling onto the already insurmountable lead with a red zone touchdown run, stiff arming overmatched linebacker Zaire Montclaire out of his path and muscling through poor Heinrik Dessler's ill fated attempt at a goal line stop. He and Merik would each tally in goal-line touchdown runs by the time this thing was over, but to the Broncos' credit, they did force field goals on three separate drives. Two of those came on big run stuffs from Alabaster Red when the Governors had gotten the ball in scoring range, with Totte Lindberg and Packard Goss each reeling in interceptions in a game they completely ran away with.

The impression with Lebois Santura is that they've got the star power to compete with anyone on any given day, and that holds true - but Bobby Dials never had a chance Saturday against such a loaded secondary and pass rush, and Alabaster Red can only do so much when the team's running backs are a combined five hundred pounds. As talented as those stars - and freshman Jair Judge - are, they simply couldn't lift the Broncos to be competitive today on an inspired day for Richardson following their disappointing loss against BYU.

"The standard is victory," said quarterback Isaiah Hunter after the historic outing, in which he went 17/22 for 261 yards and a career high four touchdowns, with almost all of that production coming in the first half. "We looked shameful a week ago and this doesn't erase that, but I've heard some guys saying it's our biggest margin of victory in the program's NSCF history? Pretty cool stuff there."

With Richardson seemingly back on track, all eyes will be on Cold Hill to see if anything changes as Viktor Rowles continues to struggle in a shocking development this season. After averaging over 300 passing yards per game last season, the young gun looks completely overwhelmed as a full time starter.
