Maybe we could hoist the cars over the edge.

Probably. Of course, you couldn't do it with an ordinary tow truck, you'd need to bring some kind of crane onto the bridge. Which would only cause a bigger disruption.

Does anybody accept slavery anymore? Obviously not. What exactly do we gain from calling them evil and renaming cities, etc.?

I mean Jefferson City? Does anybody think about Jefferson if they write or mention the name?

Considering slavery is still legal in the us, they do.

Are the cars blocking the road themselves? If so that's a way bigger issue than "awful towing fees".
Might kill someone. Definitely unhealthy idling pollution.

idling pollution? the cars aren't on. they don't have keys.

Jefferson City ought to be renamed too? Jefferson did many great things too but you only want to focus on the bad?

Is your standard for naming if they held racist/sexist beliefs or owned slaves a place must be renamed? You’re going to have to rename half the map.

There are NO perfect people. Therefore, no place can be named after anyone by that standard. Time to buy stock in mapmakers, cause there's going to be a lot of new ones made, I guess.

Just go back to the indigenous names for all the places.

"Shit, guys. Some people in California are temporarily blocking a bridge...do you think we should pause our decades long conflict? People are gonna be late for work..."

I know that's not the real intent of protests like this but sometimes that's what leaps out. I know this is to pressure Biden while he's visiting.

Also, I used to live on the island in the middle of that bridge. If I was still there I could go watch. Or be stuck on it half a mile from home I guess.

Ohhh the bay bridge. They will get removed as that’s a major thoroughfare. Still….impressive they did that…..

It's been shutdown for sideshows.

It's actually no that hard to do. There's no shoulder, it's really long, and there's no CalTrains or CHP on Yerba Buena Island (the real island the bridge and Treasure Island, the fake one, is attached to). Once it's shut down it's hard to get to the people who shut it down. Especially if you shut down the westward part because it blocks the CalTrans and CHP centers that are at the toll plaza. Then you have to mobilize people from the San Francisco side.

It's part of the reason why shutting down the Bay Bridge (should be the Emperor Norton Bridge but whatever) is so popular among protesters and fucknuts alike.

Why would an ambulance or fire truck meed to cross the Bay Bridge anyway? There are hospitals and firehouses on both sides.

Considering the bridge connects Oakland/Alameda County and San Francisco/San Francisco County...yeah. Emergency vehicles don't need to cross the bridge. Also CalTrans handles most of the shit that happens there.

Reportedly the protesters tossed their car keys off the bridge, so their cars will need to be towed. You love to see it.

Now that's some quality disruption right there.

Ok. We are likely going to have to rename most cities and many counties by your ridiculous standard. You want to only focus on the bad thing someone like Washington, Jefferson, or King James II did as if that should define them and everything else ought to be lessened or ignored.

You might think your not ignorant of history but you are. There was no possible way slavery was going to be abolished in the constitution at the convention without the South leaving and the convention dissolving. Some wanted to abolish it but getting a new constitution was more important to them.

Why do you keep repeating this stupid phrase about them not abolishing slavery early on? I asked you why JEFFERSON COULDNT FREE HIS OWN SLAVES! Would the union have fractured if Jefferson said "these slaves I inherited from my father shall be free people from this day forth"?

Also you think we shouldn't only focus on the bad side of people? Tell me about all the good things Slobodan Milosevic did.

Because you said it should have been abolished early on and I'm telling you it was not possible.

Milosevic isn't the topic here.

Why should the fact that Jefferson owned slaves be what defined him? he wrote the Declaration of Independence and signed a law banning new slaves from being imported?

But Washington and Jefferson must have their monuments removed and anything named for them changed because they had slaves. By your standard nothing can be named for anyone that didn't hold the beliefs we have today. Your going to have to rename many counties and many more municipalities.

No one is overlooking them but to say we must start a mass renaming or only focus on the bad things the Founding Fathers did or many of the figures counties or cities are named for because they dont meet the standards of today is ridiculous.
