Vibonian General Election October 2023

Over the last month not only the leaves became more colorful, but also the monotonous gray Discord background of darkmode users was decorated more often by beautiful brown-yellow Citizen pings. Because the important voice of democracy of our Vibonian Citizens had to be heard again, for the second General Election of Vibonia this October!

And there was a lot going on! A flood of election posters covered the streetlights all the way to the farthest provinces of our small region. Flaming speeches and heated exchanges took place, ballots were exchanged, and even a coin or two changed hands. For a month, Vibonia was in a state of emergency and in a clear election fever.

In the position of President (Delegate), Vice-President (Vice-Delegate) and Speaker of the Vibonian Assembly, we determined the new successors. Congratulations to our election winners!

Government Closing Address

Hello Vibonia,

We have successfully completed our first governmental term! There were many tasks and accomplishments in the Executive Staff that we achieved during this term that I would like to outline.

First, Internal Affairs. This past term, Internal Affairs was a bustling center of productive work and engagement. The term started off with Cloudyy as Minister of Internal Affairs. However, he resigned the 29th of July, leaving the spot vacant. Maurnindaia then became Minister of Internal Affairs a few days later, doing an entire reworking of the ministry's structure with several Deputies and Heads of different Departments. The Department of Culture, in charge of cultural activities and such, was headed by Saturn Military Administration. For a while, we held several polls gameside for engaging the community, though those have stopped. We are currently in a cultural event with Kerbals of the North, which has lasted a while, engaging both of our regions' communities together. The Department of Cards, in charge of card lotteries and possibly card events in the future, was headed by TheLandOfFunFun Several card lotteries to engage WA participation were held gameside. Card farming was also done consistently. The Department of Broadcasting, in charge of Vibonian broadcasts, was headed by Maurnindaia himself. We held two broadcasts about news and governmental happenings in the region, which were pretty successful. The Department of Regional Infrastructure, in charge of making guides, graphics, and such, was headed by Lionsroar II. We were in the process of working on a player guide named VIBE, though that was put aside for a while. There were also several logos made by the Department for roleplay and such.

Roleplay, which was under the purview of Internal Affairs, thrived last term. Lionsroar II acted as Lead Roleplay Moderator, and Noodle Cats and I were Roleplay Moderators. At first, there were three different settings for modern, fantasy, and futuristic roleplay with a complicated system of rifts and portals. However, because some of the settings only had a few roleplayers, the map was changed to just a modern setting to make it more convenient and centered. The Outreach Officers were a team of players under Internal Affairs who were in charge of engaging and interacting with the gameside community, lead by Chief Executive Outreach Officer Neptunian. On the team last term were Neptune, The Vibing Platypus, Parvai, Gustavia Indaia, and Saturn Military Administration . They started off with a pretty good period of activity but that also waned towards the end of the term.

Next, off onto Foreign Affairs. Foreign Affairs started with Neu-West-Montenegro auf Sardinien as Minister, who resigned after a while. The same thing occurred to Chipoli, our next Minister of Foreign Affairs. Our third Minister last term was The Maltese Commune, who led the ministry to a very productive term, with relations being established with several regions. We had been engaged in talks with the Union of Fairer Nations throughout almost the whole term, and established Discord and gameside embassies at the end of the term with them. We also established gameside and Discord embassies with Kerbals of the North, which we did a cross-pollination and, as previously mentioned, are hosting a cultural event with. Later in the term, we established Discord and gameside embassies with Carcassonne and Community, and a Discord embassy with The Wellspring. We are currently engaged in talks with Sparkalia, Europeia, and to join FOCUS, a frontier organization.

Lastly, onto World Assembly Affairs. I was the Minister of the ministry for the whole term, and was in charge of many of the voting threads. One thing missing in the ministry was just general engagement in both the ministry's work and conversation. Voting threads were posted pretty consistently at the beginning of the term, but fell off at the end of the term as well.

I would also like to highlight our region's exponential growth - after our transition to a frontier, we grew from about 30 nations to the 630 so nations we have now, peaking at 730. We have only engaged a few of these new nations into our region's government, but overall I would call the last term, in terms of our region's growth, extremely successful.

On that last note, I would like to thank the Vice President, Speaker all of the Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Security Councilors, Election Commissioners, Deputy Speakers, Executive Staffers, Citizens, and overall the entirety of Vibonia for their cooperation and hard work this term. It was an honor to work with you all and an even greater honor to have the responsibility of leading this region, which I will do again the following term as I have been re-elected.

Foreign Affairs Closing Address - October 2023

Today, the last election for a new government finishes. The Cabinet will be finished, and a new one will be appointed.
So, it's time to say goodbye to this current term.
We've done some great things here in this Ministry. The wheels of diplomacy haven't turned harder than now. We've got goals to meet, but the stepping stones have been laid for a great new term.
It's been an honour serving as your Minister of Foreign Affairs, and I hope to do it again soon.

Closing Address October 2023

So, honestly, there's not much here to say. We started off this term with good activity in terms of posting voting threads and voting recommendations, but there was a slump in the last month where basically none were instated. One thing I would like to note is that I, pretty much, was the only one handling the voting threads - I would've liked to see more activity and engagement from more of the staff, though I should've done more in that field as well. This really leads me to one, key thing regarding this ministry this term - a lack of activity. There has been some activity in the ministry's channels, but not much productive work. Additionally, at the beginning of this term, we discussed IFVs (Information for Voters) dispatches, or something along that sort. Those do take a lot of work to produce for resolutions, however, so that had been put on hold until there were more active, willing staffers in the ministry. Overall, I feel like there definitely could be some improvement in this Ministry in terms of activity and engagement.

Switch of Power December 2023

It was a peaceful and quiet time in Vibonia, we were preparing for the coming Christmas season and peace and harmony dominated our Discord server. Perhaps a tad too peaceful, because out of nowhere we received the message from one of our Security Councillors that the Vibonian nation of our President Vibing Meadowfields ceased to exist. And from then on, the quiet time was over, every channel was buzzing with events, discussions about the next course of action and much more.
With our new constitutional overhaul, which is currently still in draft form in our regional assembly, there is a clearly defined line of succession and the next steps. Our former Vice-President, now Acting President Tranquilizer-O7, took over Meadowfields' duties. Unfortunately, this came at a time when Kat themself had already announced a Leave of Absence. Therefore, Maurnindaia, our WA Representative and Security Councillor is now the next President until the end of the LoA. Meanwhile, Saturn Military Administration is the rightful and subsequent Vice President.

Establishment of the Vibonian Defence Force

Christmas had ended, and there was chatter in the air. Plans were being worked on, and now those plans have reached a next stage.
Following the completion of the VDF Act, The Maltese Commune was appointed the Consul of Vibonia, head of the Vibonian Defence Force. Today, their effort, coupled with the effort of President Tranquilizer-O7, comes to fruition in the formation of a primarily defensive military for Vibonia.
The Vibonian Defence Force will not align itself, and was established as a way to defend Vibonia, but will not hesitate to aid its allies should we be called upon.
To a new chapter in our history!
