Tactics:
Manager Geraldo Rys and his assistant Mara Tapi have decided to retain the slightly aggressive 3-5-2 formation from the 44th Copa Rushmori in order to build familiarity and consistency from the U-21 squad to the senior squad. This formation is intended to maximize the wingbacks' strengths without neutralizing the rest of the team's impact. The young wingbacks' stamina allows them to go forward and cautiously assist in attack to create goal-scoring chances while still being able to get back and provide numbers to stop opposition scoring opportunities. Meanwhile, the Centerbacks, Central Midfielders and Forwards create a solid pillar through the heart of the pitch that is intended to both be an alternative route to goal scoring and a multi layered obstruction to the opponents.

Notes:

After a respectable showing in the 44th Copa Rushmori, Zenic’s first national team competition in decades, the Empire has temporarily tasked senior squad management to take charge of the U-21 squad for the 56th Di Bradini Cup (77th U-21 World Cup). Minister of Sports Alaia Dima believes that using the same formation and tactics for the U-21 squad will help the top prospects transition onto the senior squad to rebuild Zenic’s status on the international sporting scene. It was the decision of Manager Geraldo Zys to include female players on the U-21 squad to increase the amount of potential stars for the Empire, taking a page out of the Ice Hockey squad which has been integrated for years. The hope is for a good showing in back to back international futbol events as a build up for the World Cup Qualifiers.

The Captina Company Super League consists of 14 teams playing every opponent once between April & June then following a 2 month break, play every opponent again between September & November.

The Captina Company Football Agency is able to call upon a deep pool of players that have contributed to three successive quarterfinal berths in the CRJ U17 and back to back round of 16 appearances in the CRJ U20.

Josifovo has been making small and steady moves in regards to international football. Firstly by entering in Campionato Esportiva 35, then Baptism of Fire 81 and World Cup 94's qualifiers, with several respectable appearances to show for it. Since then, Josifovo has invested in youth football so that it keeps producing talented enough players so that the country not only stays afloat but performs well in the years to come.

The first generation of under-21 footballers came as a decision by national team Primus Inter Pares coach Ljube Dobrudzhanski and as such, it consists solely of players of Josivski descent. This decision came with a huge wave of reactions from the Kicuvski, Juzunski and Kombetare minorities and especially the coaches that represent them. The decision has not changed and will NOT change, however.

Defenders were chosen on a similar metric as goalkeepers, however the plan is to also give spots to more intelligent players. As such, good game readers who are positionally adept such as Ilija Atanasov were given more attention than others. Strength is a main attribute in every position in the Josivski game and as such, it is worth mentioning it. Kalojan Vuković is especially strong one-on-one and mid-air, making him a perfect center back to cover up any mess up from the team up front.

Choices in midfield award creativity and good ball control. A spot that admittedly possesses some talent and a position with a respectable depth of pool. Josivski midfielders of note are already performing in senior teams at the Prva Liga. Most notably Uroš Tadić, talented with the ball on his feet, accurate passer, nicknamed the "Sniper" by his teammates. Another great addition is Кristijan Šarić, whose build and playstyle are quite atypical for a Josivski player. Short as well as quick both with and without the ball on his feet, he is representing FK Radnički Crnometinci with flying colors.

Strength and clinical finishing, that is all there is to it and players in this possession have some ability to do it. Although not known for copious amounts of talent or high pressuring, players in this position make sure to take advantadge of their situation once it benefits them. Trajan Grbić has a strong right foot that rarely goes wrong while Ivan Knežević knows when to pass and when to finish, being a great secondary striker.

Muralos is a cosmopolitan collection of islands located in Rushmore. It is home to a population of Russian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and indigenous (Ainu, Nivkh, and Orok) origins. The official language of Muralos is Esperanto, but the population is exceptionally multilingual, with each citizen knowing an average of 4 languages.

The Muralosian Under-21 National Soccer Team
(also known as the Young Hawks, after Muralos’ national animal, the Muralosian Hawk)

The Muralosian national under-21 soccer team represents Muralos in association football competition against other U-21 teams. The Young Hawks' performance in the Di Bradini Cup will be a harbinger of the senior Muralosian national team's future. A number of starting players on the senior team wish to retire from soccer in the next five years, so members of this year's U-21 squad may very well be playing for Muralos in the next editions of the Copa Rushmori and potentially the World Cup.

Like the senior Muralosian national soccer team, the Muralosian national under-21 soccer team is gender-inclusive; unlike the current roster of the senior team, it features a starting lineup of men, women, and non-binary players, as opposed to an all-male starting lineup. A few members of the U-21 team are also on the senior national team and the U-18 team, which advanced to the Round of 16 at the 14th RTC U-18 World Cup in Xanneria and Starcom. As of now, none of the Young Hawks play outside of Muralos, but many are interested in securing contracts with overseas club teams.

The Muralosian national under-21 soccer team is coached by Pavel Li and Hina Kageyama, both assistant coaches of the senior Muralosian national soccer team. The team typically plays in a 4-4-2 formation.

  Tutin is somewhat of a prodigy, having been the starting goalkeeper for Okha Young Men's Academy since his first year there. In four years, he has recorded 623 saves, with a GAA of 0.038 and won two Interscholastic Federation (FIS) championships. Tutin is of Nivkh ancestry; although his family took the surname Kolesnikov during the imperial Russian period of Muralos – around 1870 – he has dropped the surname to keep with Nivkh custom.
  
  
• #2 - Andrea Lin - Left back - 18
  Often seen twirling a drumstick, Lin is a skilled percussionist as well as athlete. They are a starting defender for the HSVPA girl's soccer team, and are to enter Urbego National University. Due in large part to Lin's performance, HSVPA was a runner-up in the FIS championships in 2021 and a winner of the FIS championship in 2022. (Note that while Lin plays for the girls' soccer team, they do not use she/her pronouns.)
  
  
• #4 - Samuil Gurevich - Center back - 20
  Gurevich is a junior at the Havenurbo Institute of Technology, where he studies computer science and is on the University League Team. The Havenurbo Tech men's soccer team has been one of the University League's most successful, having won back to back University League titles in 2019 and 2020. Together with recent graduates Georgo Zhong and Lerta Donaldson (who now play for the senior team), Gurevich has played an important role in defining Havenurbo Tech's surgically precise style of play.
  
  
• #5 - Elena Kuznetsova - Center back - 19
  Kuznetsova is a first year student at the University of Oleo, playing for the University League team there. Kuznetsova's long-range forward passes were extremely reliable and contribute to Nord-Urbo High School's rather flowing brand of soccer – an outlier in a country that emphasizes a more straightforward, physical style of play at the high school level, with plenty of communication between defenders and midfielders. She has been vocal about her interest in playing overseas for a club team in the multiverse after graduation, and she would become the second player to do so after Galina Shchedrina.
  
  
• #3 - Roberto Chen Morishita - Right back - 19
  Morishita will graduate from the Poronaysk Academy of Sciences in the summer, after helping secure the Academy's second FIS title in history. He has committed to the Havenurbo Institute of Technology, but has not made a commitment to play on the University League Team. Morishita is a fairly aggressive defender compared to his counterparts on the U-21 team; he does not hesitate to interrupt possession or take part in aerial battles.
  
  
• #6 - Daniela Safonova - Left midfield - 17
  As an athlete, Safonova is often characterized by RTM-1 and other sports media as a young version of senior national team midfielder Galina Shchedrina: composed and capable of scoring and crossing with impressive range. She has also been known for her brief appearances on Muralosian national media coverage about soccer, and because of this, RTM-1 named her an "honorary correspondent" in 2020.
  
  
• #7 - Esperanta Kim - Center midfield - 20
  Kim plays for the women's soccer team of the University of Okcidenta-Havenurbo, a team which has historically lagged in the University League but has greatly improved in recent years. Kim helped her team advance to the quarterfinal of the University League championships for the first time in team history, scoring off of a free kick in a 1-0 upset of Zamenhof University. An aspiring academic, Kim is also an assistant for U. of Okcidenta-Havenurbo professor Samantha Anders' research on multiversal history and politics, including a study of Mertagnian immigration policy during the Mertagnian isolation, a comparison of anti-Corvidae resistance movements to anti-fascist resistance movements in Muralos, and a short history of Nimban government, which was made into a popular video on the Internet.
  
  
• #8 - Yutian Liu - Center midfield - 19
  Liu was one of the few athletes to join a Muralosian Premier League team immediately after graduating from high school. She is currently a key player for FC Spartak Alexandrovsk and a prospective player for the senior Muralosian national football team, potentially starting in place of retiring starter Nikolaj Granda. Like Granda, Liu has distinguished herself with her exceptional speed and passing ability, allowing her to easily take charge on the pitch.

  Niutanimats graduated from Nord-Kurilo High School in the Kuril Islands, the only Muralosian high school that does not hold away games for its soccer matches, due to its distance from Sakhalin. Like many of her peers, she is coached by senior Muralosian national team member Aleksandro Kim in the off-season. (Kim, who grew up in Nord-Kurilo, holds an annual soccer clinic in the city.)

  Lee is a player for the senior Muralosian national team as well. He scored his first goal for the senior national team in a 3-0 win against Grey County at the 12th Independent Associations' Championship, and scored one more goal against Qasden during the 88th World Cup qualifiers, in a 2-3 loss. Lee's scrappy moves belie his efficiency. He excels at creating chances in situations that require fighting for the ball – like corner kicks and crosses – and he often translates these chances into goals.
  
  
• #10 - Varvara Kuznetsova - Striker - 18
  A student in a two-year engineering program at the Technical College of Poronaysk, Kuznetsova is one of the few players (along with senior national team striker Valora Lin) who have helped bring a Muralosian junior college to prominence in sports. On the offensive front, Kuznetsova converts chances with power and precision, while being difficult for opponents to mark because of her agility. She is, however, a generally unselfish player, with excellent vision on the pitch and ability to create chances for a no. 9.

[The Ko-orenite Constellation]

A hastily thrown together roster. When the KFA was notified that the Di Bradini Cup was still looking desperately for entrants - so desperate that they'd even contact the Ko-orenites - the political forces that be jumped on the opportunity to create an all-Constellation team... that disappointingly, after try-outs, turned out to be 75% Ko-orenites anyway.

Expect a team that has never played together, with the Ko-orenites (KOR) defaulting to defence, while the Irithoreni (IRI) are used to pitches that don't allow you to string five passes together (if there's any semblance of grass) or that don't allow you to go for sliding tackles (if the pitch is all sand or worse). The Arhoreni (ARH) are all stamina no control (through playing at dizzying heights), and the Synephorenes are pretty physical, most of their players combining an amateur 'career' in rugby codes with an amateur 'career' in soccer. The Zakhoreni... well, there's one on the team.

The Tarörenler were in the middle of their domestic season and wouldn't give up their players - their competition probably being second to only Ko-oren's among Constellation nations. The same went for the Cang Prath, Chanming, Ndugutisa, and various other delegations - maybe some of their players will join if their league goes into a break.

Things you should know about the SRS:

Once upon a time, there was the Imperium of Squornshelous, a militaristic, totalitarian state which took great pride in its football team. Squornshelous entered every World Cup from the 5th edition to the 41st, successfully qualifying all but once, and winning the 31st edition of the tournament. After World Cup 41, however, a civil war erupted which ended with the nation divided in to the democratic Confederacy of Squornshelan Remnant States, and the shrunken but still dangerous Imperium holding onto its island heartland. Both nations disappeared from the international stage for the next 40 World Cup Cycles. The SRS returned to international football for Cycle 81, and was joined by the Imperium during Cycle 84. During Cycle 88, another revolt in the Imperium destabilized the government so much that the nation essentially collapsed, and its constituencies applied for membership in the Confederacy. It was also around this time that Squornshelous/SRS arrived in Atlantian Oceania, having previously competed as an Independent. More recently, the SRS realigned itself from Atlantian Oceania to the new Arrosian coalition, and looks to continue making a name for itself there.

Though this will be the first DBC participation for the SRS, the nation has maintained a junior national team for some time, though they have rarely played beyond the borders of the Confederacy. That organization has, for some time now, been managed by Morna Korenak. Known more as a man manager than tactician, Korenak has been well suited to the task of shepherding along the next generation of Squornshelan football, and keeps her tactics aligned with the fast-paced, possession heavy 4-2-3-1 that Penrooke employs at the senior level, ensuring a consistent tactical ethos across the entire program.

Raised to have a strong affinity with her Akach heritage thanks to her father, Desire was active in the movement for Akach emancipation in her early teens. While such behaviours made her something of a pariah in her native Mosasa, she wasted no time in moving to the northwest of the country to study at the University of Karikinui (UK); formerly Greeningham University – a historically Akachese university. While she briefly played football at UK, her time there, more importantly, exposed her to various cultures that resonated with her understanding of the Akachese struggle for independence, most notably that of Cobrio. Upon graduating, Desire opted to spend three years living in Dugba, Cobrio; home to CF Solidarité Akach, and something of a hotbed of revolutionary support. Here, she took her first steps into coaching, when CF’s football-based activism appeared to be having a big impact on public attitudes.

The Osarius-born Akachese Kibongé had already abandoned any hope of a playing career whilst at university, and now turned her hand to tactical study, and coaching. As a result, she played a crucial role in the early stages of Akach’s move towards professionalism in sport; by the age of thirty she was heading the development unit within the then-fledgling Federation Akachese de Football (FAF). She would hold this role for a decade, overseeing many changes at grassroots level which many believe paved the way for the likes of Yannick Coquet and Sébastien Marcel to emerge from a football ecosphere operating on a comparatively miniscule budget. Those developments would later lead to the development of the current Akachese crop of young superstars, such as Kenza Ayache, Friday Ennui, and Laëtitia Tatah.

When the FAF decided to make their national team official, Desire topped the list of candidates to be the manager. In this role, she negotiated the establishment of the Solidarity Cup (an annual fixture played between the Akach national team, and her old club CF Solidarité Akach), and ensured that Akach were given a full, individual entry to the Rabastor Unity Trophy (RUT) every two years. It was at the RUT that she made a strong impression on the Board of Grandmasters – the administrators of Xiaolin’s Master League, and by extension the national team. Her time in charge of the Odum te okeala was before they exploded onto the international scene in the DSAFF, but she did lead an unfancied side to the semi finals of the Rabastor Unity Trophy five years ago, with a squad largely comprising players from the newly established Ligue Akach. Last year, upon realising that she had been living a nomadic lifestyle – travelling between towns and cities in various countries, documenting her discoveries and experiences on cica.da, as the_football_nomad – the Board of Grandmasters approached her with a job offer. Desire accepted, on the proviso that she could continue her nomadic ways between tournaments and international breaks.

Playing style
Kibongé, like most Akachese, is heavily influenced by the Osarian tactical systems that dominated the latter half of the 23rd century. Her preferred 4–3-3 system is a reflection of this, in that it resembles the base shape taken by the Firebirds during their “golden era”. Where she differs, is in the specifics. Xiao players are typically athletic, with remarkable capacity for flashy, technical plays – however, their tactical development lags behind that of their neighbours in Osarius and Cobrio, even Akach; and paradoxically, they tend not to have very good fundamentals. To account for this weakness, Kibongé has developed a style of play which relies on athleticism and teamwork when out of possession, but makes way for individuals to do the spectacular when attacking.

Part of her remit as Xiaolin under-21 manager is to establish a style of play that suits the Soultouched players, and can be carried on to senior level. Her programs to develop the fundamentals – which are often neglected due to the nature (and overwhelming popularity) of Xiaolin soccer; where it is common to rely on one’s athleticism and supernatural gifts – are only just starting to bear fruit, however.

Notes
The default system is very aggressive. The two midfielders ahead of Suganuma will be expected to press quite high, as will all three forwards; the fullbacks typically moving into midfield during the press. Due to their lower level of tactical awareness, Soultouched players typically try to overwhelm the opposition and win the ball back as far from their own goal as possible. Teams with accurate long passing, and pacy wide players, or who are adept at playing around/through a high press may be able to exploit this defensive fragility.

Suganuma is key to the attack, capable of making long, direct passes to transition defence into attack quickly. If he can be isolated, this will restrict the team’s ability to play in transition. Easier said than done, though. Think Pirlo-esque passing but with the athleticism of Jude Bellingham. In these situations, expect the team to revert to their instinctive reliance on their unusual ability: ridiculously long-range shots, outrageous overhead kicks, etc etc. This should be a running theme when the team is not winning; their struggles to adapt to a team-based system that doesn't rely on their supernatural abilities (like they would in Xiaolin soccer).

Kibongé almost always uses all five subs. Because the style of play demands a lot of hard running (think Bielsa) players often tire out. It’s rare that any of the wide players, or a midfielder not named Suganuma will play a full ninety minutes for three games straight. If I don't explicitly mention lineup changes, and you RP before me, feel free to select whoever from the squad list. Just try to keep the goalkeeper, centrebacks, Suganuma, and Konno in the starting lineup as much as possible, please.

Based on the above, the majority of the team’s goals should probably be scored by either the centre forward (Konno or Liao), or one of the midfielders ahead of Suganuma (Griffin, Bevan, Lang, Barnes, etc). This isn’t a rule though, if you have a cool idea for someone else to score, go with it.

MANAGER

KANG Yongnian, aged 45, has very little relevant managerial history: his last job was at Yincheng National University, a university football team in a country that does not value university football. He's also fiercely nationalistic in a way that borders on xenophobia, which is probably not the best profile of someone who will have to manage seventeen dual nationals. It's worth noting that he was hired as U21 coach immediately after his uncle Kang Guilin told the YFA that he would drop his unlawful termination lawsuit, the legendary ex-manager having been fired after scuffling with Wan Sheping.

The team will play a relatively conservative, solid version of Elaine Ashdown's 4-2-3-1 at the senior level, where a solid center unlocks dynamic attacks from the flanks. Trischuk-Huang, Zeminsson Yao, and Wang form a solid spine that allows the likes of Milosevic and Von Kampen to bomb in from their respective wings. The attack is less proven than the defense at this level, but Tong, Álfarsdottír Zhou, and whichever of Yun and Jia win the starting spot all have a lot of potential.
