End of Term
Official Statement from the Empire of Great Britain
To Foreign Friends and Allies,
Earlier this week, I informed the Members of the British Constitutionalist Party and His Royal Highness The Prince Regent of my intention to no longer contest the premiership. I make this decision knowing that I am going to attend a new university this Fall, starting in just a few weeks and I want to make sure that the time that I devote in my life is fully to my academic endeavours. While I will take up other roles within the Empire of Great Britain, I do not believe that I will have the time and focus to be Prime Minister. Not only does the Empire deserve a conflict-free Prime Minister, but they also deserve someone who gives the region the attention it deserves. I have entirely enjoyed my time as your Prime Minister and I look forward to finishing out the rest of the term until a new Prime Minister is chosen in the next General Election.
With the Writ of Election dropped, I would like to take the time to reflect on the End of the 24th Premiership and the 26th Session of Parliament. In the last two (2) months, we have seen many changes. There have been great shifts and big things have happened. In the end, I think we are better for what we have accomplished this term. If you want more details, please look at the statement I gave at the Joint Session during Prime Minister's Questions last night in response to The Earl of Merioneth. I want to thank everyone in Government and the citizens who supported us for a wonderful term. I could not have done it without you all and it is hard for me to imagine a better first Premiership. As I move on in my real life and to other positions and responsibilities within the Empire of Great Britain, I look forward to His Majesty's Government continuing to develop the big changes that have been laid down during this time. In the meantime, I wish everyone the best of luck in their campaigns!
(The 26th Session of Parliament lasted from 23 May 2023 to 22 July 2023, it had an activity of 131 threads and 1,718 posts, beating the 22nd Session of Parliament, which had 77 threads and 1,240 posts.)

Mr Speaker,
I thank Lord Merioneth for his questions. This is something I have reflected on recently as I have worked on the Library of Parliament Hill records of my time as Prime Minister. I am very proud of the achievements my premiership has been able to accomplish. I issued several Executive Orders during my tenure which Restructured His Majesty's Government, Established the Ministerial Code of Conduct into law, Declared June as LGBTQIA+ Awareness ("Pride") Month, and called a much-needed Summer Holiday. In the Foreign Office, we Negotiated and Ratified the Athênai Accords with Sophia and the Turing Treaty with the Union of Democratic States and while we discontinued the Foreign Update publication, we published and distributed four (4) diplomatic cables (which are viewable in our gameplay thread). We successfully campaigned for our change to Defender and the establishment of the Royal Air Force. Our military itself has been a part of several operations this week alone. The Treasury passed a new regional economy act and a new budget which completely changed how the region interacts economically from the ground up. The new economic guidelines has provided a jumpstart to this economy and I fully believe we will see future government interacting with the different and unique challenges it will face organically. It has seen the creation of over 20 properties and the purchase of over 105 acres and 900 m2 of property (30 boards). This added a total of over £3,875,500 being spent in the economy. Overall, with this being the most active session of Parliament in history by far, I think it is safe to say this has been the most active Government as well, despite it being during the Summer. It is my humble belief that this premiership has accomplished more than most premierships have here in the past.
In reflecting on improvements, I think it is clear that the Midterm Polls showed us that despite the great advances and accomplishments we made, we were not perfect. We have taken those criticisms to our hearts and minds and I think we have tried our best to do better. I believe we could have handled relations with the House of Lords better, as well as correcting our compliance with the Education Act faster. Cabinet members could have been more communicative and I should have encouraged them to update the citizenry, instead of doing it myself from 10 Downing Street. Despite us being imperfect, as all people are, I believe that we still brought out a net positive change to the Empire of Great Britain. It will be hard to see the fruits of the hard work we put in these past two months right as we stand in the midst of it, but as time moves on, it will show that this Government was filled with people who cared deeply and passionately for this region and worked with dedication to see it improved.

It's always bittersweet needing to step away, but congrations for both doing all that you did and for stepping back when the times call for it both IRL and in game. Best of luck to you out in University, and we in the Union will be eagerly awaiting what you do next!

Five Year Anniversary and New Government

Earlier this week, the Empire of Great Britain celebrated the Five Year Anniversary of its Founding and went to the ballot box to elect a new Government.
Celebrations were hosted by His Majesty The King (Not-Brittania) and His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales (Long Live the Henrarchy). The jubilation started off with an Honours List, signifying the service of many British citizens during the past term and throughout the past year. His Royal Highness The Earl of Westmorland was created the Marquess of Marchmain (bonus points if you get the reference), Sir Tobias Somerset was created The Baron Stafford, Sir Yeldon Wright was made Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath, The Duchess of Edinburgh, The Earl of Beaufort, and The Viscountess Balloch were all made Companions of the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales was made a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, The Honourable Alcala Howard-Campbell was made a Member of the Order of Merit, The Honourable William Somerset was made a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire, The Earl of Lothian, The Viscount Douglas, and the Right Honourable Alistair Romefeller were all made Commanders of the Order of the British Empire, Llywellyn Lleyton was made an Officer of the same, and Thomas Baker-Carew was made Member of the Order of New Zealand. The celebrations were concluded with a Ball at Buckingham Palace.
The General Election was heavily contested with the British Constitutionalist Party and the Independent Slate both vying for the Premiership, along with the Liberal Democrats and an Independent seeking to be returned to the House of Commons. In the end, the British Constitutionalist Party, under the leadership of The Viscountess Balloch, won out with 3 seats, the Liberal Democrats returned with 1 and the Independent Slate 1. The greatest topics of debate were the formation of the Independent Slate after a last-minute defection from the BCP, activity within Parliament, and Foreign Affairs. The Prime Minister-Designate was promptly invited to Buckingham Palace for the Kissing of the Hands and was invited to form a Government in the King's Name. After a short 12-minute Speakership selection, Parliament was opened and the Address in Reply was hosted in the Joint Session. The next day, Lady Balloch (Cameron M Romefeller) would pass the Vote of Confidence and form a Government.

Update from the Foreign Office
Official Statement from the Empire of Great Britain
To Foreign Friends and Allies,
I have been hard at work getting things organised and sorted since the start of the term. A roll call has taken place and His Majesty's Diplomatic Service has been updated with hirings and resignations. We currently have diplomatic commitments with ten (10) regions. The average workload of our ambassadors and consular officers is around three (~3) regions. Anyone who can join and help out will be much appreciated! Additionally, as a point of clarification, for the time being, I will be staying on as the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, but not as a Member of Parliament, where I shall resign this coming Sunday.
The Foreign Office has made the following accomplishments so far this term: joining the Festive of Warriors with the Union of Democratic States and hosted by Sky Haven (first round out now!!), continuing the World Assembly Programme with Sophia, opening up dialogue with The Rejected Realms, The League & Concord, and The Grey Wardens, re-opening consulates with Europeia, and an awesome development I shall elaborate below.
Earlier today, after conversations with my counterpart HumanSanity, and between our Heads of Government, the Empire of Great Britain and The South Pacific have opened embassies with each other!! This is an amazing development as we continue our search for long-term partners in the greater NationStates world. With The South Pacific, we share democratic, Anti-Fascist, Pro-LGBTQIA+, and Defender ideals. We are extremely excited to embark on this new relationship. Look out for something in the future that we are working on together!!

This is EoGB, not KGB/KoGB.
Regardless - we investigated the issues and HS served as a point of contact to reach out to raider leaders about their side of things. If you think there is additionally information we don't have then you know where to find us.

This is EoGB, not KGB/KoGB.
Regardless - we investigated the issues (EoGB's, that is) and HS personally served as a point of contact to reach out to raider leaders about their side of things. If you think there is additional information we don't have then you know where to find us.

If this was your goal, you wouldn't proceed to drop an accusation of emotional manipulation.
You clearly recognize that the actions of your administration were unacceptable and necessitated change, which you did not pursue at the time nor for months afterward. It was not then and isn't presently emotional manipulation to firmly state that our ties could not continue if Matthew Somerset remained root administrator and/or Prime Minister in light of his behavior.

What you reference is what I was calling brinksmanship. The emotional manipulation was where you said that you saw us as family, etc. But, I look back on that time and we barely interacted with you personally. I don't even remember you having a presence on our Discord. The only time you mainly interacted with us personally was when you heard about a stupid accusation by someone who was under the influence of alcohol. We weren't family, we were barely acquaintances, EoGB, to you, was just a means to expanding Raider Unity. Now, you're doing the same thing to Kantrias.
It's clear the only person you see as family is Cormac, because you'd burn everything down for them and they don't even play the game anymore.

Not speaking for Koth - and this drama isn't mine - but you know that's not what he means when he says 'family'. The fact you're manipulating that wording to your own ends betrays your disingenuousness when approaching this issue, and an inability to admit when you were almost entirely in the wrong. Your BTEC PRAF somehow getting marginal relevance does not give you ground to manipulate the truth.

I am not manipulating the truth at all. This was my experience with a conversation and situation you were not and are not privy to. We don't ban unilaterally for a stupid mistake, but the person in question was disciplined and they've made no step wrong ever since.
