Summary
The season began with an opening night upset, when in the 33rd minute, Keith Apsden slotted the opening goal for Gann past Thomas Foley of the holders Bavingtor. Gann’s defensive efforts paid off, and the newly promoted side took a 1-0 win in the opener. An opening Matchday Derby between Waldster and St Astons City saw Waldster take an easy 3-0 win, making their rivals look rather pedestrian. Binclestead Wood and Loxthorpe Rovers played out a 7 goal opening Matchday thriller, with Binclestead Wood eventually winning 4-3. Matchday 2, and Marthorpe City are top on 6 points, with a nice win at Kings Lunsel. Also on 6 points are Waldster, who avoided the banana skin of nearby Gann. Newly promoted Vale continue a good start, with Juan Jose Montenegro Gisbert scoring a late equaliser against Binclestead Wood, he’s flying in his new colours. After 3 Matchdays, Marthorpe City and Binclestead Wood have 7 points, but joining them on that amount is the bright starting Apsbrooke, who won on Matchday 3 over St Astons City. Capton Club remain without a point, and still winless are Stanmorn and Kings Lunsel. Neither has started well, and their 4-4 draw, as entertaining as it was, highlights their defensive fragility. Anthony Whyman got the first hat trick of the season, as he propelled South Maishop to a 4-2 win over Gann. Marthorpe City were frustrated they couldn’t find a win over rivals Hadford Hill, who had made a decent start. Matchday 4, and the Rovers Derby saw 2 late Goals. Richard Birmingham had hoped his 94th minute counter attacking goal was the finishing touch for Langmere Green Rovers. However, an own goal 90 seconds later off Kevin Turner left Langmere Green Rovers sweating in the final minute of a 2-1 win. Marthorpe City pulled open a slight gap at the top, as they held off a St Astons City fightback to win 2-3. Binclestead Wood found no way past Garden City in a scoreless defensive affair, and Apsbrooke fell to defeat vs Gann. Capton Club have a first point, with a draw at the struggling Kings Lunsel. After 5 matchdays, its a 1 point lead for Marthorpe City, after an easy win vs Gann. 2nd is Bavingtor, recovering from q shock opening night loss to win 4 on the bounce. Hadford Hill staged a remarkable injury time comeback at Capton Club, turning the 3-1 scoreline into a 3-4 win. Their reward is 3rd at the moment. Summary
Matchday 6 saw heavyweights Bavingtor and Langmere Green Rovers fight out a contentious draw with 3 red cards. Anthony Hannigan and Guðlaugur Ísidórsson squared up after a bit of aggression from the defender, and the fracas saw both sent off. Daniel Lansdell also saw red, for a two footed challenge on Sedna Giunta, that was totally reckless. 9 vs 10 it finished, in a feisty 1-1 draw. Hadford Hill’s entertaining 5-3 win over Binclestead Wood puts them right behind Marthorpe City at the top, with the leaders held to a draw at Waldster. Matchday 7 sees the first sacking of the season. Winless Kings Lunsel lost 2-1 at Vale, and that was the final straw for the board. Alan Young was gone, and in his place, was Carter Cromwell. An experienced manager and a great squad builder, but this is his first role since his sacking in 38AU by Stanmorn. Elsewhere, Marthorpe City stay top with a win over South Maishop, followed by Bavingtor, who did well to come from behind to beat Apsbrooke. Hadford Hill dropped points, not helped by Alastair Ross seeing red late on vs his old side Loxthorpe Rovers, for pulling down Andrew Brocklehurst just outside the box. Both Stanmorn and Langmere Green Rovers hadn’t quite lived up to expectations yet, but 4-1 wins over Waldster and Garden City helped their causes. Matchday 8, and Carter Cromwell had a tough opening game as new manager, hosting Langmere Green Rovers. They were 2-0 up with less than 20 minutes to go, but the visitors dug deep for the equaliser. Marthorpe City could only get a draw at Apsbrooke, but losses for Bavingtor against Garden City, and Hadford Hill vs Vale keeps Marthorpe City top. St Astons City were desperately unfortunate not to beat Loxthorpe Rovers, and remain in the relegation zone. Matchday 9 was one of many games with few goals. One of which was the hotly anticipated Marthorpe City vs Bavingtor clash, which proved why Nathan Crewe and Thomas Foley are highly respected goalkeepers, both responsible for the scoreless draw with great displays. One game that wasn’t goalless was in Vale, as visitors St Astons City romped home to a 0-5 win. Langmere Green Rovers and Hadford Hill saw plenty of goals, the hosts winning 4-2 to get their IFCF aspirations back on track. Capton Club finally got a win, a 2-1 over South Maishop which dropped their opponent into the Bottom 3. That leaves just Kings Lunsel winless now, they lost again, 3-1 to Garden City. 10 Matchdays down and Marthorpe City still lead the Super League. They held off a late Stanmorn fight back in a 4-2 win. Despite a red card for Tony Daws for an elbow on Aston Lombardi, Kings Lunsel held on to a 1-2 win. The holders and hosts dropped to 5th with Kings Lunsel 15th and still in a relegation fight. Binclestead Wood won 1-2 at South Maishop, to stay a point off the leaders, with the hosts in the relegation fight in 14th. Langmere Green Rovers are 3rd, a 2-2 draw at St Astons City a missed opportunity to close ground on the top 2. The same for Garden City in 4th, they could only draw at fellow IFCF spot fights Hadford Hill. With 3rd to 10th just 3 points apart, it’s still anyone’s fight in that part of the table. Capton Club remain bottom of the table. Gann vs Vale was a real goalfest, 6-3 and that leaves Gann in the top half, an impressive start so far.

Summary
Matchday 11, and there’s a growing sense that this season could be a two horse race. Marthorpe City lead by 1 point still, with an easy 0-3 win at Capton Club, and 2nd placed Binclestead Wood coming up with a narrow win over Apsbrooke. Langmere Green Rovers blew a 4-1 lead over Gann in an absolute scintillating match that finished 5-5 in the end. All of Garden City, Hadford Hill, Bavingtor and Waldster failed to win too. South Maishop move to within goal difference of safety, having gotten an impressive away win at Loxthorpe Rovers, their hosts however a bit off form this season. Matchday 12 saw Marthorpe City host Binclestead Wood, in a hotly anticipated clash at the top. Christopher Hill’s long range stunner, and Victor Collomb’s well hit half volley ensured the win, and a 4 point lead, go to the hosts. Bavingtor caught the eye with a 4-0 takedown of a Hadford Hill side, who up to that point, had looked on the money for an IFCF spot fight. Waldster also impressed, with a 5-2 victory over a Langmere Green Rovers side who’ve suddenly become very leaky. A loss for Loxthorpe Rovers at Apsbrooke leaves Victor Adeyemo under a lot of pressure to turn things around. Matchday 13, and I was unlucky 13 for Marthorpe City, as they became the final side to lose a game this season. Loxthorpe Rovers needed a response to get themselves back up the table, and defeating the leader 3-1 was certainly a good one. Binclestead Wood closed the gap back to 1, with a 5-2 win over Stanmorn. Amrik Singh’s hat-trick, and a red card for Andrew Morley made it a pedestrian affair for the home side. Kings Lunsel registered only their 2nd win of the season, 3-0 over a Gann side who had so far defied expectations this season to be midtable. Also getting back to winning ways were Langmere Green Rovers, winning 4-0 over a struggling South Maishop side. Into Matchday 14, and the lead swung back to 4 points at the top. Both the Top 2 played newly promoted sides, but whereas Marthorpe City found Vale relatively easy to defeat, Binclestead Wood faltered in the first half, to lose 2-0 to Capton Club. In the relegation race, a win for Kings Lunsel at Waldster, and South Maishop’s victory over Garden City means that those from 10th-13th look at risk again. Matchday 15, the halfway point, and 3 derbies took place. Binclestead Wood vs Bavingtor was a thriller. 2-3 at the break, Binclestead Wood scored twice after 80 minutes to get the win, despite Christopher Hill’s red for a time-wasting second yellow, and some late handbags. Waldster took the 3 points at rivals Hadford Hill, Lancelot Wray scoring the game’s only goal. 0-1 was also the score in Vale, with Lewis Carter getting the win for Stanmorn. Marthorpe City could only draw at Langmere Green Rovers, but stay 2 points ahead of Binclestead Wood at the top of the Super League. 5 points off 2nd are Langmere Green Rovers on 25 points. Then, just 1 point separates Bavingtor, Apsbrooke, Hadford Hill, Waldster and Garden City at this stage, (23 points to 22 points). On 21 points lie Loxthorpe Rovers and St Astons City. In the relegation race, Kings Lunsel leap up to 12th, thanks to a 5-1 takedown of South Maishop. South Maishop now lie 15th. Bottom are Capton Club, on just 9 points. Gann now drop into the Bottom 3, off the back of a loss at St Astons City, however Stanmorn and Vale are not out of danger by any means.

Summary
The second half of the season begins with a change at the top of the table. Marthorpe City were defeated at Garden City, thanks to a last gasp winner by Giordano Limene. Binclestead Wood fully capitalised, with a comeback win at Loxthorpe Rovers. St Astons City vs Waldster went down to the wire, Zdeslaw Markowić thought he’d scored the winner in the 89th minute, only for John Durkin Jr to head in a late, late header. A lack of wins at the bottom doesn’t help those in the relegation spots, nor do the 2 red cards South Maishop received at Hadford Hill. Matchday 17, and Binclestead Wood were keen to keep top spot, a 4-0 thrashing of Vale showed they meant business. Also showing they weren’t going down easily were South Maishop, showing good composure to win 3-2 over St Astons City. Marthorpe City had to work hard to beat Kings Lunsel 3-2, the visitors drop back into the relegation zone, but surely must believe they can escape danger. Also notching up a hard fought win were Capton Club, surprise winners vs Langmere Green Rovers, maybe they’re going to pull off a great escape. Matchday 18 saw several high scoring games. Marthorpe City started off brilliantly in their derby at Hadford Hill, with Victor Collomb scoring within a minute. Eddie Minvielle saw red near the end of the first half for a rash challenge on Christopher Hill, and the hosts were then routed 2-6. 7 goals in the last half hour at Kings Lunsel saw their game against Stanmorn go from 1-1 to a 4-5 thrilling win for the visitors. No change at the top however, with Binclestead Wood winning 0-2 at Langmere Green Rovers. The gap from 2nd to 3rd is now 9 points, 3rd to 11th is only 7 points. At the bottom, Gann get a key 3 points over South Maishop, a 3-1 win courtesy of 2 early goals. Matchday 19, and a change in the lead. Binclestead Wood fell to a 1-3 defeat against Garden City, not helped by Sidney Harper seeing a straight red for a blatant foul to give away a penalty, and then William Brown later seeing red for a second yellow. Marthorpe City not only won, but won in style, 6-1 over St Astons City. The Rovers Derby was also spectacular, with 9 goals. The one that really mattered, Graydon Sheffield’s injury time winner from the edge of the box, to give the hosts victory. Kings Lunsel’s win at Capton Club moves them out of danger, helped by Gann and South Maishop losing, and Vale drawing with Bavingtor. The win for Apsbrooke over Gann, helped by a red card for Michael Hawkins, sees Apsbrooke 4th as they chase another IFCF appearance. Nicholas Hutchinson also saw red for South Maishop, in a stupid incident where he kicked a ball out of play straight at Waldster manager Andrew Lowe after the manager aimed a comment in his direction. Matchday 20, and with 10 to go, Marthorpe City still lead. But for a Nicholas Radison own goal, it was almost a perfect performance over Gann, to win 1-4. Binclestead Wood are keeping them honest, they got a 0-2 win at Kings Lunsel. Dreams of a 5th in a row for Bavingtor are fading away, although they have 3rd for now. Only on goal difference though, as Apsbrooke keep up the chase in 4th. 5th is hotly contested, and currently it’s Langmere Green Rovers just ahead of rivals Loxthorpe Rovers. With a 0-1 win at Hadford Hill, Capton Club jump out of the relegation zone to 13th. It’s now Gann, Vale and South Maishop facing relegation. The board of South Maishop are now looking for change, fired is Yungen Li and in comes John McCullough to try and save the side from relegation.

Summary
Matchday 21, and the title race becomes equal. Marthorpe City had to fight back to draw at home to a steely Waldster side, who opened thanks to a long range effort from Walter Ridgefork. Binclestead Wood came from behind to win 2-1 vs Hadford Hill, both goals from Amrik Singh. Their cause was helped by Edward Lipinski’s red card at the end of the first half for a dangerous challenge on goalkeeper Toby Curry, a nasty moment as Lipinski slid in and caught Curry in the face with his boots. Thankfully for Curry, although he was subbed off, the cuts will be healed for the next game. Bavingtor and Langmere Green Rovers played out an entertaining 2-2 draw, but one point doesn’t help either side. An Alex Sturman hat trick saw Apsbrooke leap up to 3rd, but the 3-1 loss was also not a good start for South Maishop’s new manager, John McCullough. Gann benefitted from a Brian Sowden red card for Stanmorn for a denial of clear goalscoring opportunity, to win 0-1 and go out of the bottom 3. Matchday 22, and neither of the Top 2 can get a win. Marthorpe City needed an injury time equaliser from Victor Collomb to deny South Maishop a surprise victory. Binclestead meanwhile played out a drab 0-0 draw at St Astons City. In the race for 3rd, Anthony Hannigan’s late goal sent Bavingtor to 3rd, at the expense of opponents Apsbrooke. Garden City’s win over Langmere Green Rovers also sees the visitors drop to 7th and further off the IFCF spots. In the race to avoid the drop, Gann’s 4-2 victory over Capton Club, and Kings Lunsel’s 1-0 victory over Vale were key results. Only 16 goals in Matchday 23, as everyone begins to feel the pressure. Both Marthorpe City and Binclestead Wood were held to goalless draws, by Apsbrooke and Gann respectively. Loxthorpe Rovers jump up to 3rd thanks to a win over St Astons City, and with a 7 point gap to the top now, could they stage a comeback after a slow start to go all the way? At the bottom, wins for Capton Club and South Maishop mean that Gann, Kings Lunsel and Stanmorn are getting dragged back towards danger. Matchday 24, and Binclestead Wood take a 3 point lead. Ironically rivals Bavingtor helped, with Anthony Hannigan scoring in the 80th minute to defeat Marthorpe City. A late Derek Crompton red card for Bavingtor couldn’t deny them a victory, as they remain with an outside chance of another title. Binclestead Wood made light work of Waldster, winning 0-3 in the capital. Loxthorpe Rovers keep up the charge in 3rd, with a 0-2 win at Gann. At the bottom, South Maishop’s 3-0 win over Capton Club gives the hosts renewed hope of breaking out of the Bottom 3, but pushes Capton Club further into danger. Another loss for Vale, and with a red card for Kevin Webb for a second yellow not helping. 5 games to go, and 3 point clear are Binclestead Wood. Their win over South Maishop keeps them in the driving seat to end the title streak of their rivals Bavingtor. Marthorpe City needed a late goal from Thomas Stratford to beat Stanmorn, but they got that 0-1 win to keep up the pressure. Loxthorpe Rovers remain 3rd, but with a 0-2 loss against Waldster, the title race is now almost certainly a 2-way race. 3 teams are 2 points off 3rd, Apsbrooke, Garden City and Bavingtor in the race for the IFCF spots. At the bottom is Vale, a loss to Gann leaves them 8 points from safety now. Capton Club are 4 points form safety, and South Maishop only 2. Safety is not at all assured for Stanmorn, Kings Lunsel or Gann. Midtable mediocracy belongs to Langmere Green Rovers, and all of the classic Big 3.

Matchday 26, and with 4 games to go, Binclestead Wood keep a 3 point lead, despite a nervy 1-2 win at Apsbrooke, holding on at the end to their lead. In contrast, Marthorpe City powered to a 4-0 win over Capton Club. Also winning 4-0 was Bavingtor, helped by a Karl Jones red card for Stanmorn. That loss, combined with poor form, sees John Calvert sacked late on, with assistant manager Jonathan Thompson given the interim manager job to try and see the side to safety. They’re still 13th, thanks to losses for Gann and Capton Club, and a draw for Vale at Waldster. Gann and Kings Lunsel registered wins, their safety looks a lot more likely now. Matchday 27, and Binclestead Wood vs Marthorpe City was poised to be the most watched game of the season. Thomas Willmott of Binclestead Wood brought down Andrew Thomas when clean through in the 27th minute, from there it was 10 vs 11. The hosts held on, and the scoreless draw is a boost for them. Wins for Bavingtor and Garden City see them move up to 3rd and 4th. Loxthorpe Rovers dropped to 5th, with a home loss vs Apsbrooke. That’s despite Andrew Bulman’s red card for handling outside his area, leaving teenager Nigel Plunkett 11 minutes and injury time to hold on for the win in goal. Langmere Green Rovers hammered Waldster 4-0, but it still feels very unlikely that Langmere Green Rovers get into the IFCF spots. At the bottom, Stanmorn’s 2-3 win over Capton Club is a huge boost to the survival chances of Stanmorn, but pushes Capton Club further towards relegation. Vale beat South Maishop 4-1, but neither side looks close to survival still. Matchday 28, and the title race closes up to a point. In Stanmorn, the hosts took an early lead against Binclestead Wood. Amrik Singh shortly after found an equaliser, but try as they may, the leaders couldn’t get a winner. Marthorpe City were in a competitive match vs Loxthorpe Rovers, but got a crucial 3-2 win, closing up the gap at the top. At the bottom, 2 relegations were confirmed. With Stanmorn’s draw, both Capton Club and Vale needed wins to stand a chance of survival. Neither got them, Capton Club lost emphatically 4-0 at Bavingtor, and Vale lost 2-0 at Apsbrooke. The two newly promoted sides make a quick return to the Challenge League. A 0-1 loss for South Maishop vs Langmere Green Rovers means they now need 2 wins and a goal difference swing of 12 to survive. Matchday 29, and Binclestead Wood knew a win over Capton Club, and a Marthorpe City loss, would make them champions. However, whilst Binclestead Wood scored in the 22nd minute via Cai Renshu, Richard Foster equalised 10 minutes later. A second half red card for Amar Kataria for a two footed challenge on Siddharth Bhandari didn’t help, and 1-1 the final score. Marthorpe City fully capitalised, they went 0-5 up at Vale after 65 minutes. The hosts clawed back 3, but it leaves Marthorpe City 1 point in the lead going into the final Matchday. Garden City sent South Maishop packing in a devastating 5-0 loss, ending a 2 year stay in the Super League for the Centrelands side. Bavingtor’s convincing 1-4 win at St Astons City means they and Garden City are confirmed for the IFCF Challenger’s Cup Qualifying spots. Loxthorpe Rovers got a win over Stanmorn, and enter the final Matchday 5th and 2 points ahead of their only challenger for the final IFCF spot now, Apsbrooke.

3 derbies, one of which may very well have title implications. Marthorpe City host Langmere Green Rovers, a win and they’re champions. But if they don’t win, the title could well be stolen by Binclestead Wood, at the home of their rivals Bavingtor. Loxthorpe Rovers go to Capton Club to try and secure 5th, and the challengers for 5th Apsbrooke host Garden City. Waldster vs Hadford Hill and Stanmorn vs Vale may only be for pride, but everyone wants to beat their rivals. The full final Matchday fixtures below:

Summary

Matchday 30. The title is still up for grabs, can Marthorpe City finally get title number 8, the most outright of any team of the modern era and their first since 23AU, or will Binclestead Wood get their second of the modern era, and win it at the home of their rivals Bavingtor? In the race for the last IFCF spot, will Loxthorpe Rovers do enough, or will Apsbrooke usurp their spot? And of course, in the 3 debries, who gets the bragging rights? In the title race, the first important goal came in the 13th minute. In Bavingtor, a free kick wasn’t dealt with, and on the edge of the box, Gotzon “Gordon” Berystain put his laces through the ball, beating Thomas Foley to open the scoring. The chants for “Gordon” rang around the away end, along with chants about taking their title. Marthorpe City heard the news, and 6 minutes later, responded. A cross whipped in from Victor Collomb was met by the head of Charles Shepherd and steered into the net. The striker, born the last year Marthorpe City won the league, and with only his second ever Super League goal, put Marthorpe City into the lead, and back to the top of the table. Half time, it was 1 goal up for both title contenders. As the minutes ticked on, the nerves rose at both grounds, both sides waiting to see if the other would crack. Then, 88 minutes in, Paul Appleton brought down substitute Thomas Stratford of Marthorpe City in the box. Stratford himself stepped up, and with no sign of nerves, put the penalty away. 2-0 Marthorpe City, and now their fans really could believe, the title was theirs. Binclestead Wood held on for the win, but knew thanks to the gloating of the home fans, it wasn’t enough. When the final whistle blew in Marthorpe City, it was jubilation inside City Arena, for the first time in almost 2 decades, they were champions of Flavovespia once again.

Of course, that wasn’t the only race to be decided. There were the IFCF Challengers Cup Qualification spots as well. In the race for 5th, a shock as Siddharth Bhandari gave Capton Club an opener vs Loxthorpe Rovers. Andrew Brocklehurst would equalise, only for William Ratcliffe to score off a corner not long before half-time. Compounding the problems for Loxthorpe Rovers, was the fact Alan Holdsworth had headed Apsbrooke into the lead vs Garden City on the brink of half time. Graydon Sheffield found a second equaliser for Loxthorpe Rovers, but it wasn’t going to get them 5th, and Victor Cooke would double the lead for Apsbrooke. On the stroke of 90 minutes, Loxthorpe Rovers had a corner, and everyone but Lucky Diamond was up. A bit of pushing and shoving lead to Nazir Hussain losing his cool and judo-throwing Tim Palmer to the floor. A straight red card, and with it, seemingly the end of Loxthorpe Rovers chances of the Top 5, as Apsbrooke once again proved the plucky side in all yellow could punch up. Garden City failed to capitalise on a Bavingtor loss, so finished 4th behind Bavingtor. In other games, Vale twice lead at Stanmorn, but the hosts came back to win 3-2, sending Vale to the wooden spoon spot, with Stanmorn 13th. Imran Butt’s double helped Hadford Hill to a 1-2 win at Waldster. Waldster though at least stayed in the top half, finishing 8th, Hadford Hill were only 12th. A back and forth game between South Maishop and Kings Lunsel finished 3-3, South Maishop were already down and finished 14th, Kings Lunsel in the end for all their struggles, at least got 9th. Finally, a Sean Maher goal in the 85th minute gave Gann a 1-0 win over St Astons City. 11th for St Astons City, but a 10th for Gann sees them finish above 2 of the classic Big 3, not bad for a side representing a district of Waldster who were once the biggest underdogs of the Super League.

Part 7
Flavovespia Gold Cup

Round 1 of the Flavovespia Gold Cup began with the 32 non-league sides who’d battled through the preliminary rounds, meeting the 32 sides who make up the National League Division 1 and National League Division 2. Non-league vs League upsets were very sporadic, only Binclestead Wood Common beating Old Marthorpe 3-2 in extra time was of particular note. A few surprises saw Saltearth defeat Westwood, and Ashland Common win 4-1 over Whittlesbury Wanderers, both victors bridging a gap of one division. 11 non-league sides were lucky enough to progress to make it into Round 2, and join the biggest clubs in the draw.

Round 2, the big clubs enter, and from here it’s a 64 team knockout tournament. The draw gave us 2 Super League derbies. St Astons City got the better of Waldster, in a close 2-1 game, and Stanmorn put Vale out in a 1-3 away win. Out in Round 2, to the shock of many were Bavingtor, defeated at home 1-2 by Challenge League Abbots Lunsel. Capton Club were the only other Super League side out, unfortunately to have been drawn away at Marthorpe City, and their 2-1 loss shows how the visitors put in a spirited performance. There were a few upsets, Radstye Rangers eliminated Hopford, and non-league Hadford Industrial United defeated Melcave Meerkats. Hillsight Bridge and Loxthorpe Green are the other non-league sides left in. Agonisingly missing out were Pykrot End of the sixth tier, who took Locksmith-on-Carron to penalties, and Panford who came so close to an equaliser against Langmere Green Rovers, in a 1-2 loss.

Round 3, and the end of the road for the non-league sides. Gann made light work of Hadford Industrial United. Loxthorpe Green were up for the fight vs Batchingtonwood Rovers, but narrowly lost. Hillsight Bridge gave it a good go vs Apsbrooke, but were in the end second best in a 0-2 loss. Only one inter divisional upset, as fourth tier Ashland Common defeated third tier Oxwich 1-0. Of the 16 teams going through, 11 are from the Super League, St Astons City the only one eliminated from the top flight here, away at Kings Lunsel.

Round 4, and of the 5 non-Super League sides left, 2 of them made it through. Garden City were stunned by Butterfield Rovers, the top flight side looking second best in a 5-2 hammering that saw them 3-0 down within 15 minutes. Holders Binclestead Wood suffered a big upset, a single goal for Ashland Common allowing the fourth tier side to defeat one of the Super League’s high fliers. Elsewhere, 7 goals were scored at South Maishop, but visitors Marthrope City scraped through in a 3-4 win. Beaten finalists of 40AU Loxthorpe Rovers were also out, defeated by Apsbrooke. Also through were Kings Lunsel, Gann, Stanmorn and Langmere Green Rovers.

Into the quarter finals, and there’s one stand out result. Stanmorn should’ve cruised through vs Ashland Common, especially after scoring first. However, the visitors from the National League Division 2 staged a shock comeback, winning 1-2, and taking themselves to the semi finals. They’ll be the last of the sides from outside the Super League, with Langmere Green Rovers winning 1-4 at Butterfield Rovers. Marthorpe City eased to a 0-3 win at Apsbrooke, and Kings Lunsel took a single goal win at Gann, leaving no home side to go through in all 4 games.

The semi finals now, and the matchup all neutrals were excited for was Ashland Common vs Kings Lunsels. The hosts had temporary seating to boost Ashland Street’s capacity to around 4000 for the game. And the crowd saw a dream start, 45 minutes in and they were 2-0 up. Kings Lunsel clawed one back in the 56th minute, before a fracas saw a red card on both side 74 minutes in. 4 minutes later, it was back to 3-1. Kings Lunsel scored in the 84th minute, but despite an all out attack at the end, Ashland Common held on. The home side, of the fourth tier of Flavovespian football, with some players who weren’t even full time professionals, were going to the Flavovespia Gold Cup final. Amidst all that excitement, Langmere Green Rovers and Marthorpe City had their semi final as well. 0-0 after 90 minutes, goals for Ricard Birmingham and Gust Kwant, one in each half of extra time, sent Langmere Green Rovers to the final, with Hornets Nest in Waldster the venue.

The final, Hornets Nest, Waldster, and an underdog fairytale for Ashland Common to even be here. The question was, could they get a dream ending? Or would Langmere Green Rovers, who have in this competition had issues against lower league sides, live up to their pre-game tag as the heavy favourites. In the end, it was Langmere Green Rovers who did what several Super League sides failed to this year, defeat Ashland Common. Kadek Ahlberg opened the scoring in the 36th minute, turning a Sedna Giunta through ball into the net. Richard Birmingham then pounced on a rebound in the 39th minute, to make it 2-0. The second half was goalless, Langmere Green Rovers astute to any danger and keeping the game calm, and with it, the first Flavovespia Gold Cup since 34AU, somewhat making up for a poor league campaign. It wasn’t a dream ending for Ashland Common, but even making this far, combined with promotion back to the third tier, means this season will live long in the memory.

Other Cups

The League Cup is a chance at international club football via the Vilitan Cove Invitational Qualifier, and for lower league sides to host at least one home game versus a higher ranked side. A big early upset saw Oxwich Wood defeat Bavingtor on penalties in Round 1, with Binclestead Wood and Waldster also falling at that stage. The lower league sides did quickly fall out, only Redthwaite Rangers made it to Round 3 from outside the top two flights and Cartswood were the only non-Super League side in the quarter finals. The final, between Langmere Green Rovers and Garden City, was an absolute thriller. 9 goals were scored in the end, and the winner came in injury time, a club legend in the form of Konstantin Vyland finding the net to give Langmere Green Rovers a cup double. Owing to all four semi finalists being qualified for other international club completions, the four quarter finalists played a mini tournament in Hornets Nest, Waldster, to decide the Vilitan Cove Invitational Qualifier. Stanmorn were the lucky side in the end, with their victory over Gann in the final of said mini tournament. In the Alliance Shield, it was Walbert Street with the shock victory in the end, the sixth tier side winning on penalties against fifth tier Henhaven Beachside.

Playoffs

Fresh off a heartbreaking final day defeat that dropped them out of 2nd and into the playoffs, North Mayshop made amends with an extra time win over Hopford, both sides chasing a first ever top flight appearance. Batchingtonwood Rovers and Sporting Towerhaite also went to extra time, the home side coming out on top here. Batchingtonwood Rovers won a thriller 3-4 at Hopford, to give themselves the chance to make it 3 out of 3 going straight back up again, in a playoff final at Highland Road, Hadford Hill vs North Mayshop. In the 48th minute of the Challenge League playoff final, Monir Miah found the back of the net with a 10 metre strike for North Mayshop. Batchingtonwood Rovers had lots of possession and shots, but found no way through, and when the final whistle blew, it confirmed North Mayshop were going up to the top flight, for the first ever time in their history. Both the National League Division 1 and National League Division 2 playoff finals went to penalties. Guildwell Football and Old Marthorpe respectively were the beneficiaries, and would reap the rewards of promotion.

Part 1

Summary
The season started off with a flyer in Marthorpe City on Friday Football Fever. The holders were stunned when just 7 minutes in, Richard Foster gave Butterfield Rovers, his new side, the lead. Tiwce they lead, before the holders seemed to have pulled it back to a 3-2 win. However David Ord’s flying header from a corner in the 93rd minute sent the away fans wild in celebration. Carston Green’s return to the top flight was also a draw, a 0-0 one at Bavingtor, a respectable result as the two favourites both failed to beat newly promoted sides at home. North Mayshop were at home for their top flight debut, but a Gann goal from Perry Bliss prevented a dream start. Apsbrooke and Loxthorpe Rovers opened the season with a 7 goal thriller, new signing Steven Dumoulin got two for the hosts, as they won 4-3.

Matchday 2 saw Carston Green continue a great start, as they battled hard to win a exhilarating 4-3 win over Langmere Green Rovers, holding on despite a late own goal putting the home fans on edge. North Mayshop also got their first win in the Super League. Amandeep Luther got the goal at Loxthorpe Rovers, reaching out to half volley in a cross that wasn’t cleared. 2 teams remained with a perfect record, Binclestead Wood after a late penalty was awarded at Hadford Hill to them, which Kloro McManus converted, and St Astons City, with a win over a sluggish Bavingtor. Whilst Stanmorn couldn’t hold on against Apsbrooke, Andrew Thompson’s overhead kick is already a goal of the season contender.

Matchday 3 saw the 2 perfect records fall to losses. Binclestead Wood were undone by a John Ault goal for Carston Green, and the newly promoted visitors now sit atop the Super League at this early stage. St Astons City were defeated at Langmere Green Rovers, with Clovis Arcard saving an Ásvarður Bergmundursson penalty. Martin Edwards being sent off for a second yellow was the only disappointment for the hosts in a 3-0 win. Hadford Hill continue a strong start, winning 0-4 at Apsbrooke, and Loxthorpe Rovers win, coming from behind at Gann to win 2-3. Bavingtor won 2-1 in the minor derby against Butterfield Rovers, all 3 goals coming early on. Waldster meanwhile drew 0-0 at Marthorpe, they have a very impressive 1 goal conceded, but have scored none so far.

Matchday 4 sees an old school feel to the top of the table, it’s Hadford Hill, followed by St Astons City, followed by Carston Green. Hadford Hill’s place at the summit for now comes from a relaxed 2-0 win over North Mayshop, in contrast St Astons City played out a frantic 4-3 win over Binclestead Wood, with Adam Israel taking just 45 seconds to score from long range. Waldster still remain goalless, and a 0-2 loss to Loxthorpe Rovers leaves them in a bit of a poor spot early on. The only other side winless are newly promoted Butterfield Rovers. After 15 minutes, they were 3-0 up over Langmere Green Rovers, but thanks to a hat trick by Michael Hornby, it ended up 3-4, that hat trick being sealed by a 90th minute winner.

Matchday 5 sees a new leader. St Astons City exploited Apsbrooke’s defensive fragilities to the full, in a high scoring 4-6 game, which included 2 penalties. Ásvarður Bergmundursson was thankful for those, as he bagged a hat trick in that game. Carston Green keep up their very bright start in 2nd, even if North Mayshop threatened a late comeback in a 1-2 match up. Hadford Hill battled back to a 2-2 draw at Gann, they’re 3rd whilst Gann lie 11th but in a cluster of sides on just 5 points. Loxthorpe Rovers are 4th, they did concede first to Stanmorn, but were merciless in a 5-1 win over their neighbours. Binclestead Wood are 5th, they beat bottom side Butterfield Rovers in their minor derby. North Mayshop, 15th and Apsbrooke, 14th, currently make up the relegation zone. Waldster finally got a win, got some goals, and Robin King scored, in their 2-3 win at Kings Lunsel, even if John Durkin Jr’s 93rd minute winning header grabbed the headlines. A late goal from Robert Cooper was the story in Bavingtor, as the two favourites drew 3-3. Bavingtor 9th and Marthorpe City 7th, neither have hit the ground running though.

Part 2

Summary
Matchday 6 saw plenty of 0-0 draws, 3 of them including games involving the current top 2, but other games provided the goals. Garden City and Binclestead Wood, hunting an IFCF berth, played out an enjoyable 4-4 draw, with Conor Jacques in startling form for the hosts with a hat trick, although not the 3 points sadly. Hadford Hill and Loxthorpe Rovers drew 2-2, a generational contrast with teenager Peter Langdon scoring for the visitors, and 40 year old Steven Hall, once a Loxthorpe Rovers players but a boyhood Hadford Hill player, fan and legend, also scoring. Waldster and Stanmorn played out a fun 3-3 draw, in a Waldster vs Outer Waldster battle. Only 2 games saw a win, Marthorpe City coming from behind to beat a stuttering Langmere Green Rovers 3-1, and Bavingtor holding on to win at Kings Lunsel.

Matchday 7 saw leaders St Astons City forced to dig deep to scrape a late equaliser against Gann, in a 3-3 draw. They stay top, with Loxthorpe Rovers jumping up to 2nd, via a 2-0 win against fellow high fliers Carston Green. Bavingtor also join the title hunt, with a 2-1 win over Waldster thanks to some late heroics by Robert Cooper to find the net. A goalless draw in a surprisingly drab game between Binclestead Wood and Marthorpe City keeps both of them a bit of a way off the top. Apsbrooke also got their first win for a while, over Garden City, easing early worries they could end up in a long slog this season. Kings Lunsel drop into the relegation zone with a loss at Langmere Green Rovers. Butterfield Rovers remain winless after only drawing with North Mayshop.

Matchday 8 and the story was the Waldster vs Hadford Hill derby. Waldster were in control, exploiting Hadford Hill’s errors, and Robin King, who hadn’t yet lived up to the hefty price tag, well and truly delivered, with a hat trick in a brilliant 4-0 win. A memorable moment for him and Waldster in the derby. Marthorpe City were absolutely rampant against against Apsbrooke, 5-0 up at the break in a 7-2 victory. At the top, it was a much lower scoring affair, but a single Robert Totten goal gave Loxthorpe Rovers the win and top spot at St Astons City. It was a long tumble as well for St Astons City, down to 6th thanks to wins for Bavingtor, Carston Green, Marthorpe City and Binclestead Wood. For Butterfield Rovers, a late goal by David Ord gives them a first victory of the season, this over Gann, who themselves are on the bubble.

Matchday 9, and in the Binclestead Wood vs Bavingtor, a 3 goal flurry in under 6 minutes was decisive, and Amrik Singh’s double gave the hosts the victory over their fierce rivals. Binclestead Wood lie 3rd, remaining just 2 points off leaders Loxthorpe Rovers, who made somewhat heavy work of beating Butterfield Rovers. Marthorpe City, holders, are 2nd and 2 points off top, after easing to a 0-2 victory over nearby North Mayshop. Stanmorn took a late win over St Astons City, and Hadford Hill recovered a late draw vs Carston Green, as the 2 classic Big 3 sides who lead early on continue a lean run of form. Kings Lunsel remain bottom after a loss to Apsbrooke, and patience with Carter Cromwell is wearing very thin.

Matchday 10 sees the first sacking of the Super League this season. Kings Lunsel fell to a 3-4 loss in a feisty encounter with North Mayshop. It takes North Mayshop out of the relegation zone, and with Kings Lunsel stuck at bottom, Carter Cromwell is out. In will come John Calvert, former Flavovespian international who’s had stints with Stanmorn and Gann as a manager. In the St Astons City vs Hadford Hill derby, it was a convincing win for Hadford Hill, 0-3 up before the hour mark, with Zdeslaw Markowić only able to get a consolation goal for the hosts. Loxthorpe Rovers remain top, but only just, thanks to Asher Corby’s stunning long range winner at Garden City in the 92nd minute. Marthorpe City are 2nd, an early flurry enough to beat 14th placed Gann, despite Stuart Cookson’s straight red for pulling down Andrew Delany through on goal. Bavingtor are up to 3rd, beating Apsbrooke despite Malcolm Beresford seeing red for a reckless challenge on Andrew Desmond. Binclestead Wood drop to 4th, after a battling draw at Langmere Green Rovers. Carston Green are down to 5th, after a loss at Waldster, but still great for a newly promoted side. As well as bottom side Kings Lunsel, and 14th placed Gann, it’s Butterfield Rovers in the relegation zone, not going anywhere for now after a 0-1 home loss to Stanmorn.

Part 3

Summary
Matchday 11 saw 1st take on 2nd as Loxthorpe Rovers hosted Marthorpe City. Peter Langdon sent the home crowd into big celebrations as he scored in the 91st minute to make it 2-1, but 3 minutes later, Andrew Thomas’ curling shot found the net, and the hosts were stunned into silence. Bavingtor should’ve capitalised, however James Green saw red early on at North Mayshop, clipping Steven Black as he was through on goal. Stephen Wallis found the net for the hosts, and once Jonathan Goldstone was sent off in the 79th minute for a second yellow, it was all over for Bavingtor, North Mayshop getting a famous win over their neighbours of a far higher stature. Binclestead Wood put on a fine display to beat Waldster 4-0. Apsbrooke also score 4, in a 4-3 entertaining affair against Langmere Green Rovers, who aren’t going anywhere fast at the moment. Another win for Stanmorn sees them quietly sneak up into the IFCF places battle. Meanwhile, in the West, St Astons City won at Carston Green, the two sides having a decent start so far in the top half of the table.

Matchday 12 saw only 13 goals, and 6 of them were at Binclestead Wood, as they drew 3-3 with Apsbrooke. Munster Galvin scored a free kick, but later saw a red card for a reckless lunge on Cai Renshu, which lead to a free kick and a goal for Dirk Russell, that sparked the comeback. There was a change at the top, with Loxthorpe Rovers defeated by Kings Lunsel, a result going against the form book. Marthorpe City capitalised on that and the red card of Andrew Thompson of Stanmorn, to record a 1-0 win to go top. Garden City’s 2-0 win over Hadford Hill saw them leap up to 5th, and Bavingtor secured a 1-0 win via the penalty spot, against a Gann side who were courageous but ultimately without success. Waldster hosted St Astons City in a derby encounter, but it was a far from memorable one.

Matchday 13 sees the title race close up to a point. Marthorpe City were held in their derby at Hadford Hill, a goalless draw and a lacklustre performance, barring Nathan Crewe with a penalty save and his general heroics in goal, a well deserved Man of the Match. Loxthorpe Rovers hosted Bavingtor, and thanks to a Kelvin Bullock double, it was the visitors coming away with 3 points, and 2nd place in the table. Binclestead Wood lost some ground in the title race, after a surprise 1-0 loss at North Mayshop. The Super League debutants are going on a run that is starting to make fans believe they could well stay up. Butterfield Rovers remain rooted to the bottom with a 4-0 loss at St Astons City. Charlie Holton had a lot to say and little positive after his side’s loss to one of his old employers, his blow up in the press and dressing room leaving him on thin ice. Speaking of blow up’s one of the more bizarre incidents of the season saw Colton Boyd-Church of Waldster sent off as the player’s left the field for half time, an insult over the quality of his music was aimed at him by an Apsbrooke player, leading to a thrown water bottle, a bit of shoving, and a red card. Finally, in a minor Western derby, Carston Green wound up narrow winners over Garden City, both sides sensing an IFCF spot could be there for them this season.

Matchday 14, and it’s a new leader time. With Marthorpe City only drawing at home to Carston Green, and requiring an own goal off the knee of Tim Swain to get that point, Bavingtor took advantage, a 2-0 win over Stanmorn sending them top. Langmere Green Rovers have had little to cheer so far, but in their derby vs Loxthorpe Rovers, Kadek Ahlberg’s header in the 71st minute was enough for the win, against their rivals who are now winless in 4 and ailing in the race for the title. In Waldster Lancelot Wray’s goal against his former club Butterfield Rovers was enough for 3 points, after the video referee chalked off a late Butterfield Rovers equaliser. Charlie Holton’s insults towards the officials post game earned him a one game touchline ban, but it wouldn’t matter for now anyway, as he was sacked later that evening by Butterfield Rovers, Yungen Li hired a few days later to take his spot. Binclestead Wood clung on vs Gann despite an Adrian Muscio red card for a second bookable offence. Gann still only have 1 win and are stuck in the relegation zone, despite some valiant performances. Kings Lunsel drew 2-2 with Hadford Hill, a score that still leaves them someway from safety. Garden City’s win over St Astons City was courtesy of Fol Kacceo managing to save not one, but two penalties in a remarkable goalkeeping performance. And Apsbrooke, despite Alex Sturman’s straight red for a dangerous aerial challenge on North Mayshop goalkeeper Stephen Milne, managed a 1-0 win thanks to Alan Holdsworth’s late winner, and they now sneak up into the IFCF spots.

Matchday 15, the halfway point. Just 11 goals, and only one team getting more than 2 of them. Waldster’s 0-3 win at North Mayshop saw a Michael Jennings penalty save turned into a Radomil Antonov goal in a matter of a minute, a win that pushes Waldster in 12th 7 points above the relegation zone, and only 7 points behind 2nd, showing just how close much of the table is. The gap at the top however, is 4 points. Bavingtor’s 0-2 win at Hadford Hill came courtesy of a double by Aston Lombardi. That lead was extended thanks to St Astons City winning 1-0 over Marthorpe City, courtesy of the left boot of Ásvarður Bergmundursson. Loxthorpe Rovers finally got back to winning ways, with a Shug de la Fontaine goal enough to defeat Binclestead Wood. Langmere Green Rovers continue to lounge in midtable mediocracy , having a goalless draw at Stanmorn, not helped by a Gustavo Farias red card for fouling Lewis Carter who was clean through on goal. In the battle to stay up, Kings Lunsel’s loss at Carston Green keeps the never relegated side 4 points from safety. New manager Yungen Li started with a win for Butterfield Rovers vs Garden City, although safety remains 6 points away. They do move off the foot of the table, Gann’s draw with Apsbrooke leaving them last and 7 from safety.

Summary
Matchday 16, and the title race closes up again. An early flourish saw Carston Green win 2-1 over Bavingtor. Bavingtor remain on top on 30 points, but only 6 points separate the entire top half of the table now. Loxthorpe Rovers made light work of Apsbrooke, to show they mean business again in the title race. Butterfield Rovers also showed they’re not down and out yet, having seen Thomas Stratford miss a penalty for Marthorpe City, Butterfield Rovers battled on, and on the counter took the win thanks to William Fowler. Gann too moved a bit closer to safety, with a 2-0 win over North Mayshop in a key game at the bottom end of the table. Kings Lunsel, in that battle too, secured a point at St Astons City, a game with all 4 goals coming in the first half.

Matchday 17, it’s Bavingtor and Loxthorpe Rovers pulling away slightly with just a point between them. Bavingtor’s win over St Astons City saw a Kelvin Bullock hat trick, 6 second half goals, and a saved penalty in a frantic 5-3 result. A hat trick as well for Kadek Ahlberg, as a resurgent Langmere Green Rovers won 4-1 over Carston Green. Adding to the misery of the long away trip loss for Carston Green, was a David Norton red car for needlessly handling the ball on the line to block a Richard Birmingham goal, only for him to convert the subsequent penalty. Loxthorpe Rovers were worked hard for their 0-1 win at North Mayshop, with the hosts unfortunate now to drop into the relegation zone. Kings Lunsel move out on goal difference. Their relegation battle with Butterfield Rovers saw Kings Lunsel start injury time with a 3-0 lead, Butterfield Rovers then clawed back 2. They were agonisingly close to a third, with goalkeeper Ander Hiriarte having a header from a corner blocked, only for Steven Hurricane to get the ball and score into the empty net. Gann remain bottom, after conceding a last minute penalty in the intra-Waldster match up against Waldster.

Matchday 18 and the gap at the top of the table is pushed out to 3. Bavingtor were pushed hard by relegation zone sitters Butterfield Rovers, but an 84th minute goal by Kelvin Bullock was enough to ensure victory for the leaders. Loxthorpe Rovers could only draw in their battle with a side in the bottom 3, Andrew Delany scoring a late equaliser for Gann to lift them off the bottom. In the battle at the top end of the table, Marthorpe City benefitted from Michael Arnold’s straight red for an off the ball incident where he shoved Victor Collomb into an advertising hoarding, to win 1-4 at Waldster. Binclestead Wood also got a win, an Amrik Singh goal enough to secure a 0-1 victory over Carston Green. Kings Lunsel so nearly had 3 points in their race to get to safety, but they gave away a late penalty vs Garden City, and Giordano Limene rescued the hosts. St Astons City’s 2-1 win over Langmere Green Rovers also sends them back to the Top 5.

Matchday 19, and key races at the top and bottom get closer. Bavingtor were deeply frustrated that they blew a 2 goal lead at home to Garden City in the space of 3 minutes, with some saying they were lucky to even keep a point. Loxthorpe Rovers were also maybe not at their best, but at least got the win over Waldster, 2-1 in the end. In the race for IFCF places, a well struck late penalty by Kloro McManus gave Binclestead Wood a narrow victory over nearby St Astons City. Marthorpe City lost ground, their performance was sluggish as they got only a draw at Kings Lunsel, 2-2 in the end. Kings Lunsel however, wouldn’t have enjoyed seeing Gann win 2-1 over Stanmorn, which closes the gap from 13th to 14th to just 2 points. Langmere Green Rovers jumped to 5th and kept Butterfield Rovers bottom, the visitors suffering both a red card and an old goal in a torrid away journey, losing 4-1. And North Mayshop came so close to a point against Hadford Hill, only for an Eddie Minvielle shot from 28 metres on the brink of injury time to deny them.

Matchday 20, and with 10 games to go, the lead at the top is 3 points. Bavingtor visited Marthorpe City, and put in a strong performance, a 1-3 win over the holders a big boost to Bavingtor’s hope of winning the title, but leave Marthorpe City 4th and vulnerable to a chasing pack. Helping as well was Loxthorpe Rovers’ short away journey to Stanmorn ending in a drab goalless draw. Butterfield Rovers and Binclestead Wood in their minor derby played out a 2-2 draw, with a late goal each, but a point doesn’t help either advance their cause. Butterfield Rovers stay bottom, Binclestead Wood remain 3rd. Langmere Green Rovers drop to 7th, after a poor 4-1 loss at Garden City. The final IFCF spot for now lies in the hands of St Astons City, after a convincing 3-0 win over Apsbrooke. North Mayshop remain in the relegation zone and 15th, after losing 1-0 at IFCF chasing, and fellow newly promoted side, Carston Green. Gann’s struggle for points continue, they’re 14th still after losing 3-0 at Hadford Hill.

Summary
Matchday 21 wasn’t a good day for any of the title contenders. Bavingtor suffered something of a surprise home loss, thanks to Dustin Delaya of Kings Lunsel scoring from close range. Loxthorpe Rovers could only get a draw at home to Hadford Hill, any late hopes hindered when Nazir Hussain was sent off for an unnecessarily rough challenge on Mark Paul. Only a draw for Binclestead Wood too, as Stephen Mason’s second yellow prevented the hosts from being able to push for a win vs Garden City. Gann help their chances of staying up, with 2 early second half goals to see off Carston Green. Langmere Green Rovers and Marthorpe City played out an entertaining game, ending 3-2 in the end. Stanmorn also got one over their neighbours Waldster, in a 4-2 victory.

Matchday 22, and in the race for the title, Bavingtor battled from behind to take a 2-3 victory at Waldster. Their cause was boosted when Loxthorpe Rovers could only draw 2-2 at Carston Green, throwing away a great opportunity when Andrew Buckley was sent off and gave away a penalty for a reckless tackle on Anthony Lane. The penalty was missed, and Carston Green got an equaliser from the spot later on. Gann leap out of the relegation zone, and drop Kings Lunsel back in it, with Joris Elzokari scoring the only goal in a 0-1 win at St Astons City. Waldster are also creeping ever closer to danger. In a thrilling battle at the bottom, Butterfield Rovers eventually triumphed 4-3 over North Mayshop. Nathan Crewe may have saved two penalties for Marthorpe City, but it was in vain as they lost 1-2 to Binclestead Wood. They’ve dropped to 6th, Binclestead Wood move to 2nd.

Matchday 23 and amazingly there were zero clean sheets in all the matches. The Hadford Hill vs Waldster derby was the most entertaining match of the Matchday, and one of the best of the season. 2-3 at the break, Imran Butt completing his hat trick helped Hadford Hill recover to a 5-4, a result keeping them in the hunt for an IFCF spot, and their rivals perilously close to the Bottom 3. Wins for Bavingtor, Binclestead Wood and Loxthorpe Rovers keep it a 3 team race for the title for now. At the bottom, Butterfield Rovers edge to safety, winning 1-3 at Gann.

Matchday 24 and the title race travelled to the Bavingtor vs Binclestead Wood derby. Rarely a dull encounter, this one wasn’t. Sean Maher gave the visitors the lead in the 9th minute. Aston Lombardi gave them an equaliser in the 64th minute, but Sean Maher hit the eventual winner 5 minutes later. The lead at the top is now just a single goal on goal difference. Loxthorpe Rovers left it late at Butterfield Rovers, but an 87th minute goal by Graydon Sheffield, a powerful strike, was enough for 3 points at the struggling side. Marthorpe City finally got back to winning ways, even if North Mayshop proved tough opponents in a 1-o low scoring affair. Hadford Hill staged a late comeback via 2 penalties to win 2-3 at Carston Green, they now sneak into 5th.

Matchday 25, a remarkable set of results in the title race as all 3 main contenders lost. Bavingtor were stunned in a 2-1 loss at an Apsbrooke side back to their determined, gritty best, the hosts are 8th but with an eye on a second consecutive Top 5 spot. No luck either for Binclestead Wood, they could do everything but score in a 0-1 defeat to Langmere Green Rovers, their opponents also sneaking back into the IFCF places race. Loxthorpe Rovers were leading over Garden City, but capitulated to a 1-2 loss in the second half, Garden City yet another side with IFCF aspirations. Marthorpe City are 4th, and only 4 points off top now, after their 3-5 thriller at now 14th placed Gann. Hadford Hill, in 5th place, also scored 5, in a game they won’t forget for a while, it was a 5-0 thrashing of rivals St Astons City. Kings Lunsel’s 1-4 win at North Mayhop moves them out of the relegation zone to 13th, but leaves bottom side North Mayshop 9 points off safety with just 15 to play for. Butterfield Rovers are just 2 points from safety in 15th, thanks to a 1-3 win at Stanmorn. Waldster in 12th lost at Carston Green, Waldster are far from comfortable, and Carston Green, currently 9th, may still be able to sneak into the Top 5.

Summary
Matchday 26 and the rivals at the top are still tied, with only the goal difference extending. Bavingtor’s 4-0 hammering of North Mayshop keeps them at the top, and leaves their opponents on the brink of relegation, 10 points off safety with just 12 to play for. Binclestead Wood could only win 0-1 at Waldster, a result leaving the hosts perilously close to falling into the Bottom 3. Kings Lunsel got a 2-0 win over Gann, jumping to 12th and keeping Gann in the relegation zone. In a key battle in the IFCF places, a 10 minute of 3 goals saw Marthorpe City beat Loxthorpe Rovers 3-0. Garden City’s dominant 4-0 win over Stanmorn sees them leap to 5th, with Hadford Hill only able to get a draw at Butterfield Rovers. Langmere Green Rovers defeated Apsbrooke, and Carston Green beat St Astons City, but all 4 lie between 7th to 10th.

Matchday 27 sees a couple of potentially key results in the title race. Bavingtor had to come from behind, but they did against struggling Gann, winning 1-2. Binclestead Wood lost their lead, they were 0-1 up at Apsbrooke, but would lose 3-1 in the end. In the St Astons City vs Waldster derby, an early Andrew Travers goal was eventually cancelled out by Salman Shaikh. Worse for Waldster was seeing Butterfield Rovers win at Carston Green, leaving them only safe on goal difference. Kings Lunsel are also only a point above safety, having lost to Loxthorpe Rovers via a Graydon Sheffield injury time winner. That goal sent Loxthorpe Rovers back to 3rd, with Marthorpe City losing at Stanmorn. A missed penalty for Hadford Hill contributed to a loss to Garden City, pushing them further out from the IFCF places. In North Mayshop, their 0-3 loss to Langmere Green Rovers sending them down after their debut season in the Super League. Langmere Green Rovers now sit just outside the IFCF spots.

Matchday 28, and the season comes close to the end with several battles still up in the air. 2 first half goals saw Bavingtor win a potentially tricky contest at home to Loxthorpe Rovers. Binclestead Wood would win 3-0 over North Mayshop, although James Lowther saw an unnecessary red card, after firing the ball into the back of Stephen Milne after scoring. Bavingtor will be champions next matchday, if they win and Binclestead Wood don’t, or they draw and Binclestead Wood lose. Thomas Stratford’s nice 69th minute goal got Marthorpe City a win over rivals Hadford Hill, and sent Marthorpe City back to 3rd. Despite Andrew Delany scoring in under a minute for Gann, they couldn’t get a point at Langmere Green Rovers, who jump to 4th thanks to Garden City only drawing at Carston Green. Gann are now 6 points from safety, and need a miracle to stay up. Waldster may have drawn with Apsbrooke, however both Butterfield Rovers and Kings Lunsel won, and the capital side, who have never been relegated, lie in the Bottom 3 with just 2 games to go. It was St Astons City who were defeated by Butterfield Rovers, a few of their fans certainly wouldn’t mind that loss given it really hurts their rivals.

Matchday 29, and Bavingtor win the title. Gann, needing a win at all costs, got a 25th minute opener vs Binclestead Wood via Perry Bliss, and clung on for the 3 points. Bavingtor then only needed a draw, but did it in style at Stanmorn, with 3 second half goals to become champions once again, for a 6th time now. It was hard fought, and they haven’t run away with it like past successes, but Robbie Redfield takes them back to the top. Going back to Gann, their win was in vain. A draw for Kings Lunsel vs Hadford Hill, almost a win but for a late, late penalty conceded by Kevin Snowden and converted by Mark Paul. Fans will wonder how costly those 2 points thrown away could be, as Kings Lunsel aren’t mathematically safe, lying 13th on 30 points. Butterfield Rovers hosted Waldster, a tense 0-0 draw leaves Butterfield Rovers 12th on 31 points, and Waldster in grave peril in 14th on 29 points. In an all-time classic Rovers derby, Loxthorpe Rovers got the better of rivals Langmere Green Rovers 4-3. Loxthorpe Rovers are 3rd, but an IFCF Champions League qualifying berth is in their hands if they defeat Binclestead Wood away on the final Matchday. Langmere Green Rovers are 6th, outside the IFCF spots by 1 point. Garden City’s 0-2 win at St Astons City leaves them 4th, with a chance of 2nd if Binclestead Wood and Loxthorpe Rovers draw their final Matchday game against each other. Marthorpe City conceded a late equaliser at Carston Green, they’re now 5th, and can’t reach the Top 2 now. Already relegated North Mayshop’s final home Super League game for at least a season ended in defeat, Apsbrooke inflicting the 1-3 result on them.

Summary
Matchday 30. The title race may be settled, but the second IFCF Champions League qualifying berth wasn’t, nor were the 3 IFCF Challengers Cup berths, or the final dreaded relegation spot. The first goal in the 8 matches came in the 6th minute, when Giordano Limene put Garden City in front against Butterfield Rovers, a key game at both ends of the table. That put Garden City up to 2nd, for as long as Binclestead Wood vs Loxthorpe Rovers remained a tie. Still Butterfield Rovers would be safe with a loss, provided Kings Lunsel also lost, or Waldster didn’t win. 8 minutes in, and winger Daniel Matthews puts Carston Green ahead against Kings Lunsel, the hosts Kings Lunsel now only safe on goal difference. A minute later, and young attacking midfielder Cecil Moy scored from long range for Loxthorpe Rovers, sending them to 2nd place for now. Down to 4th now were Binclestead Wood, it became 5th in the 24th minute, when Victor Collomb cut inside to score for Marthorpe City vs St Astons City. A mere minute later, Sean Maher equalised for Binclestead Wood, they jumped back up to 3rd now. Not for long however, Loxthorpe Rovers got the lead back via Anthony Lane, in the 28th minute. Butterfield Rovers got back level in the 31st minute, when a cross by Timothy Davies was deflected in by Michael Glackin. Back down to 5th for Garden City, they were vulnerable if Langmere Green Rovers could find a goal at home to Stanmorn. No more goals in the key games by half time, with Waldster staring at relegation, if they couldn’t score vs North Mayshop.

Into the final half of football, and only 2 minutes in, a big goal in the race for 2nd. Vic Johnson headed in at the far post for Binclestead Wood, typing up the game and sending them back to 2nd. The next key goal came in the 53rd minute. It was a second for Carston Green, Akshat Kapur capitalising on lacklustre defending to double the lead against Kings Lunsel. It was getting close to them potentially going down on goal difference if Waldster drew and they conceded another two. Garden City would then quickly make it 3-1 with goals in the 56th and 60th minute via Ken Miles and Conor Jacques. They were now 2nd, with half an hour to go. Then, in the 65th minute, Lancelot Wray played a quick one-two with Robin King, the attacking midfielder had room to shoot, and beat Stephen Milne, sending Waldster into the lead. They were now safe as it stood, and it was Kings Lunsel facing a first ever relegation, at 0-2. They weren’t going down without a fight however. In the 67th minute, Matthew Fowler broke clear down the right, and squeezed a shot in past Darren Wagstaff. He then turned provider in the 71st minute, crossing for Viper von Lisenburg to finish. 2-2 now, and Kings Lunsel were back to safety, dropping Butterfield Rovers into 14th. A few minutes earlier, Robin King had also doubled the lead for Waldster. Results were already not going Langmere Green Rovers way, but Lewis Carter scoring in the 70th minute for Stanmorn further put them away from the IFCF spots. Then, in the 73rd minute, Matthew Fowler volleyed in his second, completing a comeback for Kings Lunsel as they lead 3-2. Butterfield Rovers would need a win as it stood, from 3-1 down against Garden City, currently 2nd. They got back on track in the 73rd minute, a sloppy penalty conceded by Clement Luther for clattering into the back of Richard Foster saw him get up, and score from the spot to reduce the deficit.

Back at the top end of the table, in Binclestead Wood it was Philip Swales for the visitors, who finished off a great attacking move, to score and make it 2-3, crucially sending Loxthorpe Rovers back to 2nd. Into the climax of the season and nerves at Waldster weren’t helped when Stephen Wallis popped up in the 83rd minute, to head in a goal vs his old side. Lancelot Wray restored a 2 goal lead 2 minutes later, but fans knew they still needed results to stay as they were to be safe. 89 minutes down, and Butterfield Rovers, throwing almost everyone forward, equalised when Richard Foster jabbed the ball over the line from close range. Garden City dropped from 3rd to 5th, meanwhile Butterfield Rovers knew one more goal would secure their safety. 90 minutes up now, and Langmere Green Rovers found an equaliser, as Kadek Ahlberg’s half volley snuck through the Stanmorn defence. No time to celebrate, they needed to score, and someone to help them: Butterfield Rovers to score vs Garden City or St Astons City to score at Marthorpe City.

Then, news broke of a penalty at Garden City. For Waldster and Garden City’s sake, it was the home side who got it, after Sam Black’s overeager attempt to win the ball back and start a counter attack felled Barry Branford, in a frantic game. Giordano Limene was cool and composed, and slotted it past Ander Hiriarte, making it 4-3 to Garden City. Surely there was no time for Butterfield Rovers to save themselves, and now for Garden City, up to 3rd, a question of if Binclestead Wood could equalise, to send Garden City to 2nd. The full time whistles began to fly in, as Viper von Lisenburg absolutely made sure Kings Lunsel were safe, scoring a counter attacking goal to make it 4-2. The whistle blew at Waldster, they surely felt they were safe. It blew at Langmere Green Rovers, disappointment as they were out of the IFCF spots. It blew at Marthorpe City, an IFCF Challengers Cup qualifying berth confirmed after a good defensive display to beat St Astons City 1-0. Then, it blew at Binclestead Wood, and the home team and fans saw their IFCF Champions League qualifying dreams go up in smoke, as the away fans and players celebrated their 2nd spot. And the whistle blew at Garden City, 3rd it was, their highest league spot after a Matchday all season. But for Butterfield Rovers, a bitter, bitter disappointment, after such a great recovery in the second half of the season, wins for Waldster and Kings Lunsel in the end, confirmed they were relegated straight back to the Challenge League.

2 other games beared no part in the key races settled on the final Matchday. Apsbrooke comfortably secured a 7th placed finish, with a 4-2 win over the relegated Gann, another sufferer of second season syndrome. In Bavingtor, the 2-0 win over 8th placed Hadford Hill was a good end of the season, as fans got to see their side lift the trophy at home in Airfield Lane. The game also saw the final send off for Steven Hall, after a quarter century of professional football, the Hadford Hill legend, and the first Flavovespia National Team captain announced his retirement, having reached his 40s. A legend of Flavovespian football, he’ll be remembered for a long, long time.

The playoffs, 4 intense at games at each step of the pyramid, to eventually decide the final promotion spot. The Challenge League saw not one, but two newly promoted sides looking for a remarkable consecutive promotion. Millsea and Guildwell football were in National League Division 1 last season, with the latter coming up via the playoffs. Millsea had also never played in the top flight, whereas Guildwell Football had a single solitary season in the top flight, in 26AU. In the Upper Semi Final of the Challenge League, Abbots Lunsel always looked the better of the two sides, and their 2-0 win over Millsea confirmed that, sending Abbots Lunsel straight to the final. In the Lower Semi Final, South Maishop were lacklustre at Guildwell Football, and the 3-0 result sees the side who last season were in the National League Division 1 go through to the Eliminator, and the Super League side from last season end their hopes of going back up. Millsea and Guildwell Football was a tense Eliminator between the two nearly promoted sides. One goal would decide it, and it went to visitors Guildwell Football, who move on to City Arena, to face Abbots Lunsel in the Playoff Final. Mathew Siddall fired Guildwell Football into the lead after just 3 minutes, before Basil Barnes equalised just before the break. 90 minutes couldn’t split the two sides. In the 108th minute, Basil Barnes had his shot blocked, but Robert Goodman on the follow through for Abbots Lunsel gave them the lead. They held on for the final 12 minutes of extra time, and it was Abbots Lunsel back to the Super League. In the National League Division 1, 3rd placed Havermilly entered the playoffs as favourites, and aiming to go straight back to the second tier. Woodbrook, Slaton and Westwood, all had eyes on promotion too, Westwood aiming for a first ever second tier appearance. However, despite a few close games, Havermilly lived up to the billing, a 1-0 win in the Final over Slaton sending them straight back up. The National League Division 2 playoffs were very close, no game had more than a 1 goal margin. The Final went to extra time, where a single goal gave Oxwich Wood a return to the third tier, all 3 sides who went down from that division last season going straight back up. And a congratulations to Loxthorpe Green, promoted to the league for the very first time via the Alliance D1 playoffs.

The Flavovespia Gold Cup, open for teams from the top of the pyramid, all the way down t amateur level. Round 1 starts with the third and fourth tier sides joining 32 non-league sides who made it through the preliminary rounds. Always the first chance to see some non-league sides upset some league sides, there were a few this year. Leabury did it on penalties, getting an upset win over nearby Waldster Junction. Similarly, on penalties Camber Place got past Frostbrook Rovers. Hadford Dacorum made light work of FC North Waldster in a 4-1 shock. On penalties FC North Orbital got the better of Sandeston Rovers. Loxthorpe Green overcame a 2 division gap to beat Woodbrook 2-0, and Barmount overcame the same divisional gap in their 3-2 defeat of Caffchin. Fourth tier Oxwich turned on the style against third tier Calhead Rangers in a 5-2 East Coast battle. Lawsons FC were the only seventh tier side who made it to Round 1, but their journey was ended in a 6-2 loss at Radstye Rangers.

Round 2, and now the big guns enter. Making a swift exit was Langmere Green Rovers, in a 1-2 loss to nearby Challenge League side Croxlich. The biggest shock of the round however came when non league Eastern Alliance D1 side Narrock Community Sports got a 1-0 win over Super League side North Mayshop, in a famous win for the hosts. Whilst not a divisional upset, Gann’s 2-0 win over Loxthorpe Rovers in an all Super League match was also something of a surprise. Maltsterbrack of the fifth tier also got a surprise win, over fourth tier Oxwich. Some teams however won big, including Bavingtor’s 7-1 takedown of Claychester, Slaton’s 0-5 win at Henhaven Palace and 2 3-6 results.

Round 3, 32 sides remained. This was the end of the line for all 3 remaining non league sides. FC North Orbital lost 3-1 at Capton Club, a fair result given the performances. Maltsterbrack tried hard, but couldn’t match Butterfield Rovers in a 0-2 loss. Narrock Community Sports held Hadford Hill to a goalless draw in 90 minutes, but a 101st minute strike by Imran Butt broke the hearts of the non league home side. The one big upset of the round saw St Astons City eliminated by third tier Rumlington Rovers. Vale and Cartswood played a thriller, a 4-4 after 90 minutes became a 6-4 win after extra time for Vale. Millsea made a two division gap show, in an utterly dominant 7-0 win.

Round 4, and of the 16 teams, just 2 were outside the top 2 tiers. They were facing off against each other, and Rumlington Rovers got a narrow 1-0 victory over the finalists of last season, Ashland Common. The games largely went to expectations, leaving only Vale and Rumlington Rovers as the non Super League sides left in the final 8 sides. Bavingtor, Binclestead Wood, Garden City, Apsbrooke, Kings Lunsel and Butterfield Rovers are the 6 Super League sides in contention.

Into the quarter finals, and the trophy gets closer and closer. Bavingtor made light work of Vale, with goals for Anthony Hannigan, Aston Lombardi and Robert Cooper in a 3-0 win. Binclestead Wood were ultimately undone by a red card for Michael Hadley against Apsbrooke, the early goal for Sean Maher all for naught as Alex Sturman and Andrew Desmond fired Apsbrooke to the semis in a 1-2 win. A courageous effort by Rumlington Rovers proved to be futile in the end, as Matthew Fowler put Kings Lunsel into the semi finals. Butterfield Rovers vs Garden City was a close game, in the end, a 66th minute Sachin Gupta free kick for the visitors was the difference.

The semi finals were an all Super League affair. Kings Lunsel hosted Garden City, and a game of defensive prowess looked to be going to extra time goalless. However, in the 89th minute, a cross found Conor Jacques, and with a somewhat scruffy volley, managed to find the net with a wickedly bouncing ball. Garden City had a late, late lead, and held on despite frantic pressure from the hosts to make it to the final. Apsbrooke vs Bavingtor was a battle of defence vs attack, but an Aston Lombardi goal 15 minutes from time meant that it was the attack of Bavingtor that won. Bavingtor would take on Garden City in the final in Saints Park, St Astons City.

The final, Bavingtor vs Garden City. A rematch of the 36AU final, with Bavingtor chasing a 4th Flavovespia Gold Cup in the modern era, and Garden City their first. The Super League winners lived up to their billing as the favourites, and Robert Cooper’s curling strike in the 39th minute proved enough for them to lift the trophy and complete a domestic double. A well worked achievement, and the club deserved it for their performances in the tournament.

The League Cup, Flavovespia’s secondary cup competition for the 64 league sides, but offers a route into international club football via the Vilitan Cove International. The seeded first round sees third and fourth tier sides host a first or second tier side. Binclestead Wood were the biggest name to fall early, losing at Havermilly 2-1. Big names falling in Round 2 included Loxthorpe Rovers, losing at Vale, and Bavingtor losing a tough match up at Marthorpe City. A lot of upsets meant by the Quarter Finals, only half of the sides were in the Super League, with 2 Challenge League sides (South Maishop and Nailwood Mills) and 2 National League Division 1 sides (Havermilly and Langpool Capton). South Maishop would carry the torch for the non Super League sides when they reached the semi finals. There, away at Langmere Green Rovers, they pulled off a stunning win in extra time to reach the final vs Kings Lunsel, in Higland Road, Hadford Hill. Then, in the final, a 95th minute goal from Wing Day meant South Maishop won the League Cup as a second tier side, one of the greatest achievement in the history of this smaller town side. In the Alliance Shield, the non league equivalent, it was mostly the bigger names of that level who did well. The final saw Camber Place lift the Alliance Shield for a third time, with a 2-0 victory over Flawthorpe. In the LigAnaia Qualifier, owing to Bavingtor winning the Super League and the Flavovespia Gold Cup, a goal for Philip Swales in the 36th minute saw Loxthorpe Rovers beat Garden City for a berth in the Anaia competition.

Part 1

Summary

Matchday 1
The opening Matchday of the season and holders Bavingtor were held to a draw, with Ásvarður Bergmundursson fincing an equaliser for St Astons City with a deft flick. Abbots Lunsel returned to the Super League with a respectable 2-2 draw at Binclestead Wood, although a missed penalty for the visitors made it a case of what if. Batchingtonwood Rovers were spirited but unsuccessful in a narrow 2-1 loss at Loxthorpe Rovers. Batchingtonwood Rovers had a poor start, moments of madness lead to 2 red cards and a 1-4 loss to Apsbrooke. Garden City meanwhile got bragging rights in the west with a 5-1 hammering of Carston Green.

Matchday 2
Goals were at a premium in a lot of games this Matchday. Not in Stanmorn, but unfortunately for the hosts, Batchingtonwood Rovers got on the board with a 2-3 away win. Capton Club got their first point with a 1-1 draw, although Conor Jacques overhead kick is an early goal of the season contender. Apsbrooke’s 3-1 win over Hadford Hill keeps them top and the visitors bottom. Loxthorpe Rovers also have 2 wins, and in the 2 losses club are also Kings Lunsel.

Matchday 3
Bavingtor’s 3-0 win over Langmere Green Rovers showed that the holders were certainly hard to stop at their best, whilst the visitors gave to contend with looking off the pace. Apsbrooke’s perfect record was halted by a 2-2 draw in Binclestead Wood, although they still have the early lead. Loxthorpe Rovers had a surprise 2-3 loss at home to Abbots Lunsel, the visitors pulling off a fine display despite a late red card. Marthorpe City got a close win over Kings Lunsel, Marthorpe City are up there in contention, but Kings Lunsel remain bottom. St Astons City also struggle with a loss and red card at high flying Garden City, of the traditional Big 3 only Waldster looked settled this season.

Matchday 4
Some big scorelines in this Matchday. The biggest was the Langmere Green Rovers vs Loxthorpe Rovers derby. The hosts had their game of the season, running through Loxthorpe Rovers with several fine goals to win 5-2. Another big highlight of the Matchday was the Waldster vs Hadford Hill derby. A Terence Neil long range goal, a red card, several small scuffles, it had everything and it was Hadford Hill who got a first win of the season. Amrik Singh was in inspired form for Binclestead Wood, scoring 4 goals in the 0-5 thrashing of Stanmorn. Batchingtonwood Rovers got a reality check, as Marthorpe City played them off the park in a 4-0 game. Apsbrooke caused a bit of a surprise with a 2-0 win over Bavingtor, they could well be the real deal this season. Garden City also remain top, a comfortable win at Abbots Lunsel. Carston Green won at St Astons City, Carston Green also sit in the IFCF spots, St Astons City in the relegation spots.

Matchday 5
Despite a missed penalty, Garden City got a 1-0 win over Langmere Green Rovers thanks to Barry Branford’s curling shot, to keep themselves top of the table. Apsbrooke’s fine start came to end with an away loss at Loxthorpe Rovers. Marthorpe City are also near the top in 3rd, although they only managed a scoreless draw in a relatively uneventful derby at Hadford Hill. Also doing well are Carston Green, even if they only drew at a determined Abbots Lunsel. Bavingtor’s 3-3 draw at Stanmorn leaves the title holders outside the Top 5 at this early stage. Binclestead Wood have also made a sluggish start, they’re only 9th, behind the team who beat them this Matchday, Waldster. Bottom of the table is newly promoted Capton Club. They have no wins and just 1 draw, and were beaten by second from bottom St Astons City. Kings Lunsel also make up the relegation zone at this stage, although it’s a close table so far.

Summary

Matchday 6
Waldster and Bavingtor played out a thriller with 9 goals in the capital. Unfortunately for the hosts, a skillful run and finish by Robert Cooper saw Bavingtor win 4-5. In a surprise early top of the table battle, Garden City came from behind to win 1-2 at Apsbrooke to stay top. Marthorpe City move up to 2nd, beating a Binclestead Wood side who are very inconsistent so far. A double for Steven Blakesley meant Kings Lunsel beat St Astons City and jumped up the table. Elsewhere, Stuart Cole’s brilliant 10 minute hat trick saw Stanmorn see off Loxthorpe Rovers, and Langmere Green Rovers fought hard to beat Carston Green.

Matchday 7
Garden City have their unbeaten run ended in a dramatic finish, with Stanmorn scoring twice after 85 minutes to snatch 3 points at the leaders. Bavingtor close up in 2nd, thanks to a solid win over fellow contenders Marthorpe City. Apsbrooke got back to winning ways, a very impressive 1-4 win at Carston Green. There were wins as well for some of the early underperformers, Binclestead Wood, St Astons City and Hadford Hill. All 3 newly promoted sides lie in the relegation zone, with Capton Club so unlucky not to get their first win of the season, Langmere Green Rovers equalising on the brink of injury time.

Matchday 8
The Lunselbury derby returned, and on this occasion, hosts Kings Lunsel took the win via an early own goal, although it was a scrappy match. Goals were at a premium, just 13 this Matchday. Leaders Garden City couldn’t find the net at Waldster. Bavingtor are now within goal difference, even if they were a bit lucky to beat Batchingtonwood Rovers, the hosts having 2 goals disallowed late on. Loxthorpe Rovers won at Marthorpe City, in a game plenty saw as key in the IFCF race at this stage. Another win for Stanmorn sees them 5th, whilst there’s little movement at the bottom.

Matchday 9
Matchday 9 sees just 12 goals across the Super League. 3 of them were for Abbots Lunsel, who move much closer to safety with their surprise 3-0 over Langmere Green Rovers. Capton Club finally got a win, 2-1 over Stanmorn who finished with just 9 men. Goalless draws for Garden City, Bavingtor and Apsbrooke means Loxthorpe Rovers getting a 2-0 win over Batchingtonwood Rovers gets them a bit of momentum in the race near the top.

Matchday 10
A lot more action this Matchday. Garden City remain top, they won 1-2 at Batchingtonwood Rovers thanks to a late, late goal via Giordano Limene. Bavingtor are hot on their heels, winning 0-2 at rivals Binclestead Wood thanks to a strong second half display. A frantic game in Hadford Hill saw visitors Loxthorpe Rovers eventually win 4-5, a Graydon Sheffield penalty proving decisive. Loxthorpe Rovers are 3rd, but Hadford Hill drop into the relegation zone with Capton Club and Batchingtonwood Rovers. Marthorpe City climb to 4th, beating Carston Green 4-2 but the game was closer than the score suggests. 5th is Apsbrooke after being defeated by visiting Abbots Lunsel, Apsbrooke have drifted a bit from their fine early form.
