Sophia and the Empire of Great Britain Ratify the Athênai Accords
Joint Statement

Today, President Tinhampton of Sophia and King Edward IX of the Empire of Great Britain signed the Athênai Accords. This bilateral agreement brings Sophia and Great Britain closer together as they endeavour to cooperate within the World Assembly.

This is an immense accomplishment. Although our partnership is relatively new, it is already clear that Sophia and Great Britain have shared values: democracy; the rule of law; reasoned debate; and a critical sense of optimism. The Accords reflect that. They establish meaningful structures within which we can strengthen our partnership in the WA - such as providing facilities for collective action, recommendation authorship, and education - while accepting that, on some occasions, there may be reasonable disagreements between us on matters of international politics.

In response to the signing of the Accords, President Tinhampton - who led negotiations on the Sophian side - said that "this is Sophia's first ever interregional treaty, and it is one we intend to refer to time and time again in the coming years. My interactions with Great Britain have shown them to be a reasonable, reliable and respectful partner. I hope that these Accords will be the first step on a longer, more meaningful relationship."

King Edward IX said that "we look forward to working closely with our new friends in Sophia to give both of our regions a stronger voice on the stage of the World Assembly and in the international community."

The Duchess of Edinburgh, Prime Minister of Great Britain - who led negotiations on the British side - said that "it has been a pleasure negotiating this agreement with Sophia and their President, Tinhampton. The accords represent a new era for the Empire of Great Britain as we try to expand our foreign affairs and become a productive member on the world stage. Great Britain distinctly cherishes our friendship with Sophia and we look forward to this deeper cooperation and collaboration. I’m sure very soon you’ll be very tired from hearing from us both."

Changes to Regional Administration
Official Statement from the Empire of Great Britain

To Foreign Friends and Allies,

On 25 June 2023, the Chief Administrator and Root of the Empire of Great Britain (RomeShire) decided to retire fully from NationStates. With his resignation, he decided to split the ownership of the region into multiple hands so that no one person had supreme power. With this, His Majesty The King (Not-Brittania) became Owner of the Discord Servers, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales (Long Live the Henrarchy) became Regional Governor, and The Most Noble The Duchess of Edinburgh (The Hinterplace) became Owner of the Forums. On 26 June 2023, the Administration elected the Prince of Wales as Chief Administrator. With these big changes, the Empire of Great Britain enters a new era and we remember the service of the former Chief Administrator and Root who served for nearly three (3) years.

As always, my door is open for anyone who wishes to speak to me. I'd be very happy, indeed, to talk with any of you one-on-one.

Change of Military Alignment to Defender
Official Statement from the Empire of Great Britain

To Foreign Friends and Allies,

Earlier this evening, His Majesty The King (Not-Brittania) granted Royal Assent to the Royal Air Force Military Stance (Defender) Act 2023, which officially changes the Empire of Great Britain's military stance to Defender. This comes after the General Election at the end of May where the current Prime Minister (The Hinterplace) audaciously campaigned for this change, along with the passage of the Royal Air Force (Constitution) Act 2023 (14 June 2023) and the support of the change in the Military Stance Referendum (26 June 2023).

The Empire of Great Britain comes into this change with the knowledge that this won't repair our reputation of having been Raider before. However, we do not believe in the ideals of Raiders anymore and with the big change regarding Strongholds and Frontiers, Defender militaries are even more important than they were before.

As always, my door is open for anyone who wishes to speak to me. I'd be very happy, indeed, to talk with any of you one-on-one.

The RAF link on EoGB's WFE is broken because logged-out users are only entitled to see the Main Terminal (welcomes), Grosvenor House (embassies), Thames House (RP planning) and the Administrative Centre. Until Josi become forum root admin, the entire forum was invisible to guests.

To be honest, after what happened then we completely packed up our military because we just didn't have the heart for it anymore. We felt really betrayed after all of that. I would also like to clarify that Musa Asteorra was never kicked out of the Empire of Great Britain. They left on their own accord. Additionally, they did not only protest, they went to the Brotherhood of Malice with the information that the Administration was already working on handling. It was the middle of the night, and most people had gone to bed or were on their way. In under an hour, we were in a group chat where one of the leaders of the Brotherhood demanded that our Prime Minister and Root/Chief Administrator resign. This was confirmed by that leader in this very same thread.

The person in question, who had been excessively drunk, was put on probation and would have been removed from the region if they did anything as they did again. Since then, this person has had sterling behaviour and is completely apologetic about what happened. We believe in second chances, we believe in working with people to correct mistakes that they have made. We have a system in place and we don't ban people out of hand.

I am sorry that you disagree with that and I really enjoyed working with you when we did.

In the context of working with other Defender regions and militaries, yes that is one of the reasons and that is what I was referring to. We are trying to move on from what happened in November 2022 and a lot of changes have been made to our Administration to make sure that our moderation is both fair and just.

In the end, there was nothing much I could do to contravene Matt. He always did what he thought was best, even if it wasn't the best decision. I wish that there was more that I could have done for you and others. But, I hope now that he is gone and with a new Administration in place, we will be able to do better. I can't say anything more than that I am sorry.
