GROUP STAGE: DAY 4

Image
An incredibly intense game between defending Coupe du monde champions Soravia and Satavia at the
Estádio Luzelês saw a three-a-piece draw.

The match began with a tackle within the box. Soravian captain Ignatyev was given a yellow card and BJ Maku awarded a penalty in the sixth minute. A spectacular strike to the top left of the net blew the ball past Bychkov, Soravia's stalwart goalie.

However, Soravia was quick to launch a counter attack with Naumov at the head, and the match was equalised within the next four minutes. The play was increasingly intense from here, with notable attempts by Naumov, Yusupov and Balabanov over the course of the next half hour turned away by a lock-step Satavian defence commanded by vice-captain Wilson and nail-biting saves from Botha. Soravia would find purchase, however, following a beautiful through ball set up by Yusupov to Naumov, who dribbled past D'Angelo and Nomis to score between a stunned Botha's legs.

At half time, Satavia brought on TK Webber in place of Patrick Oliver and the more experienced player equalised the game at the 53rd minute, catching Bychkov off-guard with a header following a corner. Satavia's equalisation proved to be a moral-boost sorely needed, as the team from Asteria Inferior were bolstered by a chorus of the crowd singing All Earthly Things Above, which would see momentum carried until the 19 year old Francisco Marino dribbled past the "Soravian Wall" with the aid of Preez, Maku and Kebble and found himself one-on-one with Bychkov before decisively striking the ball between the goalie's legs.

The reigning champions, however, were not done and for the remainder of the game regained much needed ground and possession. With the addition of five minutes of play, there was precious time to equalise, let alone win, but it was the rising star of Yusupov, Soravia's new centre-mid player, who was able to score a screamer against a stunned Botha.

Goals: BJ Maku (6' (P)), Modya Naumov (10', 42'), TK Webber (53'), Francesco Marino (72'), Yevgeny Yusupov (90+3')
Cards: Dan Kebble, Georgy Ignatyev (yellow-cards)
Player of the Match: Modya Naumov

Borland and Rwizikuru fought a well-contested five-goal thriller at the Estádio do Anel de Prata. Rwizikuru opened the scoring in the 32nd minute after Sikarudzi Croome headed home a wonderful cross by Tendeka Majange from the right. The MaVarvi doubled their lead before going into the break after a penalty in added time was scored once again by Croome after a poor challenge by Borish central defender Adam Hammerman that saw him pick up a yellow card.

The Bors mounted an impressive comeback in the second half, despite Hammerman picking up a second yellow in the 50th minute and the team down to ten men. Hope was provided after Anþon Mÿsner put away a scruffy goal from close range after a corner in the 61st minute, with Paul Herman bringing Borland level in the 70th minute of the game. Rwizikuru made some defensive substitutions to try and keep hold of the game, but the floodgates had opened and their hopes of a draw were dashed by Erick de Burgh in the 77th minute that killed the game off. Borland managed their one-goal lead superbly to confirm an impressive comeback.

Goals: Sikarudzi Croome (32', 45+2' (pen.)), Anþon Mÿsner (61'), Paul Herman (70'), Erick de Burgh (77')
Cards: Isheanesu Chikwava, Vudzijena Tungamirai, Luke Gezi, Willem de Bocker (yellow), Adam Hammerman (two yellows)
Player of the Match: Paul Herman (BOR)

Premier Cerqueira visits Ardesia for the Coupe du Monde
Premier Cerqueira takes a trip to Ardesia for the Coupe du Monde

Cerqueira met with both Ardila and Caetano

São Agostinho, Ardesia: Today Premier Isilda Cerqueira has met with the leaders of Ardesia, President Ardila and Premier Caetano, during her visit to watch the 2023 Coupe du Monde. They discussed numerous topics like cultural history and ties, and new policy proposals for the two nations, as well as a trade deal between Ardesia and Paretia.

Cerqueira met with Anton Caetano after arriving in Rémont they put on football jersies of their respective teams and would go to watch the first game between Ardesia and Tiwura, which Ardesia won 3-0. They exchanged jersies to each other and food from their nations as well.

Afterwards she would discuss policy with Caetano in Rémont. Caetano and Cerqueira discussed the possibility of the creation of a Paretophone language broadcasting channel for all members of the FNPI, the Forum for International Paretophone Nations. This isn't the first time this idea was proposed for the FNPI, Premier Felipe Pascoal did the same in 2011. Cerqueira discussed using Teledesia and RMP together to help jumpstart this new channel, but this also requires support from other FNPI nations, the two stated they will discuss this further with FNPI leaders like Pereira of the AFR, Aderhall of Rizealand, and Maurino of Belmonte.

Cerqueira then would go to São Agostinho to meet with President Frédéric Ardila, here she and Ardila discussed cultural ties again and their nations long history of football cultures. Ardila and Cerqueira would agree on a new trade deal between Ardesia and Paretia. This deal would allow Ardesia to trade with Paretia more freely than other nations in the Asterias, since Paretia is heavy on protectionism and has tariffs on many countries in the Asterias and Coius.

Cerqueira made a statement after meeting with the two leaders of Ardesia stating "We are proud of our combined heritage, we have been close nations for years. Even in our two nations' toughest and darkest times like the Great War we were there for each other side by side. We stand together to promote the free world and peace on the Asterian continents. Acima Paretia, Acima Ardésia!." The statement's mention of Functionalist Paretia and Ardesia caused controversy again, with some saying it is a small hint of support for neo-functionalism.

Cerqueira will remain in Ardesia for Paretia's first game with Sabaw on the 7th. She hopes to meet with other world leaders who are attending the Coupe.

West Miersa earns an expected victory over Padaratha at the Estádio dos Santos. A static first half saw numerous attempts by West Miersan players Kozakiewicz and Janiec to score, though of their eight attempts only 3 were on target: each saved by the Padarathan goalie: Appani.

The start of the second half saw a reinvigorated Miersan side, with Janiec leading the charge at the 47th minute to score a goal with support from Liszka and Kotas. The remainder of the match return to a static game, with the Miersans described as being "unwilling" to commit to an attack too strongly, and the Padarathan attempts at countering being blocked by Zambrowski and Waszak in particular. The final ten minutes of the match were met with accusations of West Miersan time-wasting, with two members of their team given yellow cards for the offence. A heated argument with the referee, Ryan Baker, was avoided with the intervention of Urban Łosiński.

Goals: Bartosz Janiec (47')
Cards: Andrzej Kotas, Sylwester Królik (yellow-cards)

LIVE COMMENTARY
-75:00: Welcome to the beautiful Zapote, in downtown Remont. This storied stadium will serve as our pitch for todays thrilling Group F match between Scovern and Eldmark. Two strong storied teams, they will definitely produce a game of quality. Couple hours earlier West Miersa defeated Padaratha 1-0, which got games in this Group F off to a good start.
-50:00: This two storied franchises coincidentally faced each other 3 years ago in Samistopol, on July 4th 2020. Where both teams drew at 1-1. These two franchises have encountered one another sparingly yet have always delivered strong, quality perfomances. Along with most importantly thrilling games.
-35:00: Now this is interesting, two large flags have been revealed in the stadium, featuring the two crosses of Scovern and Eldmark. If you get lost remember the one in white is for Scovern, and the one in gold is Eldmark. I love when flags compliment themselves like that.
-20:00: Shocking news of the day has been world champions, Soravia being kept at 3 by Satavia in a thrilling draw. Group E is looking incredibly dangerous for everyone involved. Soravia and Satavia now favorites to win the group, but Borland making a strong case for themselves with the victory, against Rwizikuru. Should they win against either Soravia or Satavia, and they're all but secured an automatic entry into the Round of 32.
-15:00: Tomorrow we will see Groups G and H start off, with a Gaullica-Maucha game early in the day. The Gaullicans will seek to earn a quick victory, as they're among the favorites for the tournament. Only 15 minutes remaining.
-10:00: The teams begin emerging from the tunnel. It is a sunny beautiful, perfect day here in Remont for some football. The Scovernois anthem will kick things off Our land, our pride.
-5:00: A lovely rendition of the national anthem. The Eldmarkians prepare themselves for their own anthem Open Wide Your Heart.
-3:00:The teams disperse to their respective halves as the captains converge with the officials, led by Shadmehr Shojaii (ZOR). The coin lands on tails and Eldmark will be getting this game underway!

FIRST HALF
1': Hellquist knocks the ball to Afzelius in midfield, and the stadium erupts! Welcome to our last match of the day here in Remont!
3': Good aggressive movement by the Eldmarkians, strong well composed attack. Afzelius dribbles the ball forward, he's looking for someone and finds it in Dahlgren, Dahlgren moves the ball well down the left side of the pitch. This one is starting to look dangerous, as Dahlgren moves the ball forward, he centers it for Hellquist.
4': GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL! Off the leg of Hellquist, and past Sorlie. Hellquist getting just enough of his leg into that one to deflect it into the goal, splendid center by Dahlgren, to position it right where Hellquist needed it. SCOVERN 0- 1 ELDMARK
5': The irons are creating good ball movement, recovering from that early goal. Its essential they remain inside the game, for if they wither, Eldmark will not stop give them mercy. Good ball movement from Wollan, he passes it to Ingebritson who breaks into a run down the center of the line, the Eldmarkian team is not well positioned, Ingebritson passes a good ball to Setter, he will be all alone.
6': The pass is too wide for Setter. That would had been a tremendous opportunity for the Irons. Ekman to clear it.
12': Afzelius is moving the ball well in the Irons halve, good dribbling good composure, simple pass to Dahlgren, he keeps moving the ball he's looking for Austenaco. Pass is intercepted by the Irons, Søndergaard steals it. Søndergaard makes a deep pass to Wollan who breaks into a quick run down the Eldmarkian halve. Wollan, Wollan, Wollan, he takes a shot from far away. GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL! Splendid shot from Wollan it just beats Ekman down the left post. We are tied back at one for both teams.
16': Afzelius is moving the ball well, but its knocked out of the pitch by Søndergaard. Afzelius makes a quick pass to Ulfblad, who moves it down, passes it to Dahlgren, Dahlgren moves it well. Are they looking to center? No he passes it to Afzelius, they're looking for Hellquist. Nikolajsen is keeping his eye on Afzelius. SPLENDID, dribbling by Afzelius and he's on the loose, he centers it for Hellquist. Pass is perfect he takes a shot.
17': HELLQUIST! Shot to the side on the deflection, but he's on the floor, and he's demanding a penalty, and the referee is there. Kuklinski is holding to his head, pleading his case to Shojaii, but he points to the center. He's signaling for a penalty. Kent Haugli is livid on the sidelines. Shojaii will be checking with the VAR. Lets look at that replay.
18': Thats a tough one, Kuklinski came in rough, but I don't see the issue. This one could go both ways frankly.
20': Shojaii leaves the VAR. PENALTY for Hellquist. At least Kuklinski leaves without a card, but he's frustrated.
22': Hellquist prepares to take his shot. GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL! For Hellquist, splendid shot up and left, he fools Sorlie. Tremendous game from Eldmark so far, and we are 2-1 with Eldmark regaining the lead once again. Splendid game so far.
27': Good ball movement from the Irons, but that ball is too wide.
30': Boysen-Riis is moving the ball well, he makes a pass over to Rask who breaks into a run across the right side of the pitch. Pass to Ingebritson, he keeps on running, the Eldmarkians are slow to react. Pass to Setter, he prepares to shoot, but Axelsson is there. Setter hits the ground, and the Irons are demanding a free kick, and they will get it yellow card to Axelsson. Free kick granted to the Irons. Setter is up, but headed to the sidelines.
32': Ingebritson to take the shot. GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL! For Ingebritson, he shoots it over the defense, and to the right post. Splendid goal my favorite one of the tournament so far, beautiful shot. We are tied again at 2
36': Both teams have dedicated themselves to careful, harmonious play.
38': Good movement by the Irons, Eljalali moving the word well, good pass to Wollan, he is moving it well, but Malmo is there to deflect it. Corner kick granted to the Irons.
39': Søndergaard takes the corner, good shot down the center. GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL! For Rask, he heads it down the center, and evading Ekman. good header from the midfielder, Scovern leads 3-2
42': Both teams are exhausted. Eljalali is moving the ball well, pass to Wollan, who breaks into a run down the left side, quick pass to Setter, who takes a shot! SAVED by Ekman, he just stopped that shot, and cleared by Berggren. Splendid shot from Wollan, but even better stop from Ekman.
45': The officials signal for 5 more minutes.
45+2': Søndergaard is moving the ball well, passing it to Wollan, who is looking for another great shot, but he's interrupted by Ulfblad, who steals it and passes it. Austenaco breaks into a run, he's fast. He is in good position, takes a shot! CROSSBAR! The bar keeps us 3-2. The Irons must be shaken after that one. Austenaco has the speed to quickly turn a play on its head.
45+5': Ekman clears the ball. The official looks at his watch, and says we have time for no more. 3-2 Scovern leading.

SECOND HALF
45': Simple pass from Eljalali to Setter, and the second half is underway.
49': Good ball movement by the Irons, they're putting the pressure on the Eldmarkians. Pass from Ingebritson to Setter, who takes a shot, deflected off of Ulfblad, Wollan takes a shot, HITS THE CROSSBAR, lands to Setter takes a shot saved by Ekman. Deflected to Ingebritson who shots it. Saved again by Ekman. Setter gives it a simple push, and GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL! For Ingebritson, just past an exhausted Ekman. Scovern is putting this one to bed, 4-2 for Scovern
52 ': Linderoth has seen enough, and has given new instructions to the team. The Eldmarkian fans are on edge, silenced by such a rapid goal by the Irons.
57 ': Hammarström is moving the ball well, pass to Ulfblad, Ulfblad passes it to Moller, he passes it back to Hammarström. He looks down the field, and takes a long pass over to Austenaco, who breaks into a run. Austenaco, Austenaco, Austenaco hes running almost unopposed down the side he moves it past Ebbesen, and takes a shot. GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL! For Austenaco, what a splendid shot to the right post, past Sorlie. We mentioned his speed earlier Austenaco, at 33 years of age. Oldest member of this team, but still reliable in his speed, and the Eldmarkians within striking distance again at 4-3 Scovern leading.
63 ': Tremendous game so far, but the Irons are looking at returning their lead. Eljalali to Ingebritson, he passes it to Setter, who takes a shot. Just over the netting. That one shook the Eldmarkians. Yes and Linderoth is going to sound the alarm. Substitutions.
(Eldmarkian substitutions: 35. Aleksander Larsson21. Tsula Austenaco
64. Aake Byshwae11. Joel Hammarström)

( Scovernois substitutions: 35. Pål Helgeland6. Hallvard Søndergaard
73 ': dangerous play by Helgeland to Ingebritson who passes it to Setter, who takes a long range shot. EKMAN! Once again saving that one. He threw himself in such a way splendid save. That one is for the highlight roll.
75 ': Both managers have motioned for additional changes. Eldmark makes their last substitution.
(Eldmarkian substitution: 78. Aldrik Karlson8. Lucas Ulfblad)
(Scovernois substitution: 66. Lars Piltz5. Mark Nikolajsen)
78 ': Good ball movement coming in from Eldmark, Karlson quickly making an impact, pass to Larsson, who breaks into a run, pass to Hellquist, who takes a shot. SOLIE! He catches that mid air. The pass was a foot too close, and Larsson is wanting that one back. So close! Scovern to make one final substitution. Scovern is doubling down on its defense.
(Scovernois substitution: 22. Till Bøhm4. Stanislaw Kuklinski)
83 ': Helgeland makes a pass over to Rask, who attempts a pass to Eljalali. Stolen by Byshwae who runs with it quickly, pass to Larsson. Larsson takes a shot, and just over the net. The Scovernois fans were silenced by Larsson. So close. Don't count Eldmark out yet.
85 ': Good movement from Karlson, pass to Byshwae, who moves it to Dahlgren. Great pass to Hellquist, who delivers a Cannon, barely redirected by Solie to the side of the net. Corner kick to the Eldmarkians.
86 ': Karlson to take it, the Eldmarkians are crowded inside the box, even Ingvar Ekman is in the box in his bright yellow outfit.. Karlson is taking his time. He centers it, header by Byshwae, saved by Solie, cleared by Piltz, received by Moller who shots it, reflected off Bøhm, Afzelius picks it up, shoots it. Deflected off Ebbesen, Hellquist picks itGOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL! HELLQUIST, HELLQUIST, HELLQUIST, HELLQUIST, HELLQUIST He shoots it down the side off the rebound and we are tied. I repeat Eldmark has tied the game the Scovernois can't believe it. Hellquist with a hat trick to tie the game up. What a player.
89 ': Karlson is on the ball again, pass to Byshwae then to Larsson who passes it quickly to Hellquist, who takes a midrange shot. Just slightly wide off the left post. So close yet again.
90 ': The officials request 4 more minutes to the game. The Eldmarkians are controlling the game, following the goal.
90+2 ': Helgeland moves the ball over to Eljalali, who makes a long distance pass to Setter, Setter rushes past the defense. Takes a shot, just to the left of the goal post. Ekman quickly grabs it and the game is back on track quickly.
90+3 ': Ekman passes it to Karlson who moves it quickly to Afzelius, he dribbles in between the legs of Rask, he's loose! Pass to Larsson, who is moving it quickly pass to Hellquist, who takes a shot at the net. Its a bad shot, Solie saves it, rebound is loose Piltz attempts to clear it, but he's too late. It is a corner kick. The Eldmarkians are trying for the goal quickly.
90+4 ': Karlson to take the corner. Shojaii, is giving final instructions, lets go he tells both sides. Karlson makes a center, headed by Afzelius saved by Solie, ball is loose in the box. But cleared by Piltz, Eldmark almost got the lead.

"WE LOST ALL MOMENTUM," SAYS HALLAM FOLLOWING OUR 2-3 LOSS AGAINST BORLAND

Image
The MaVarvi at their new training pitch in Port Fitzhubert (file photo)

Today, the MaVarvi seemed like they would win their first match of the 2023 Coupe du Monde, with manager Oswald Hallam saying that "we've learned a lot since our 2019 defeat, and we have been training hard" in preparation for the Coupe du Monde during a pre-game interview with the Rwizikuran Information Service, and that "if we win against Borland, I think we will be in the perfect position to advance into the Round of 32," noting Satavia's smaller population compared to Rwizikuru.

While Hallam's optimism seemed to be proven correct when Sikarudzi Croome scored two goals: one at the 32nd minute of the match, and the other during a penalty kick at the end of the first half, leading the MaVarvi to lead 2-0 over the Bors, the second half saw three goals: Mÿsner at the 61st minute, Herman at the 70th minute, and De Burgh at the 77th minute.

Following the defeat of the MaVarvi, Oswald Hallam said that "in the first half, we [MaVarvi] had the initiative: Mr. Croome was able to score two goals: one at the 32nd minute and the other at the penalty kick at the end of the first half, and we were able to stop the Bors, especially Mr. Hammerman from scoring. However, I feel that we lost all momentum in the second half: even though Hammerman got sent off the field and the Bors went down to ten men, we were unable to capitalise on the opportunity that the MaVarvi had, and our defenders failed to stop the Bors from scoring three goals against our net."

"That's not to say that we were not like bulls fighting each other," Hallam said, "we absolutely were. But at the end of the day, our defenses were no match for Mysner, Herman and De Burgh, and in the coming match, we absolutely need to improve our defence if we want any hope at remaining in the Coupe du Monde."

When asked by a reporter from The Rwizikuran if he thinks Rwizikuru's run in the Coupe du Monde will end because of Soravia's footballing prowess, Hallam said that "Soravia is a mighty country and over the coming week, we will work hard to ensure that the MaVarvi will be able to stand our own," and that he was "encouraged by the draw" between Soravia and Satavia, because "if a small country like Satavia can hold their own against Soravia, I am confident we Rwizis can to."

GROUP STAGE: DAY 5

We return to the Estádio Missionário, the site of Etruria's 5-2 defeat of Aucuria for a match between Rizealand and Asase Lewa. Rizealand entered this game as the favourites to win, and Tamayo was quick to capitalise on a strong offence. Following numerous attempts to try to breach the Asase Lewan defence, he found success on the backs of Haughey and James, who cleared through the Bahian team's defence within the 21st minute.

Meńsã́ Soadwa, manager for the Flying Gorillas, found himself incurring some substitutions to bring about a change to the pace of the game. At the beginning of the second half a stronger, more invigorated Asase Lewan team took the field, and under the charge of Adedayo equalised with a long-ball from near-enough to centre pitch to garner an immense uproar of enthusiasm from the entire stadium.

The Shooting Stars however had a final shot to make, with Tamayo scoring the second goal for Rizealand and the final goal of the game in the 68th minute of the match.

Goals: Jose Tamayo (21', 68'), Adesanya Adedayo (55')
Cards: Riley James, Kayin Omotayo, Yèvito Lawani (yellow cards)

Auzance were favourites to win, and despite a particularly slow first half of the game the team really consolidated and came alive behind Mayance in the second half. They were successful in scoring a goal in the 59th minute, with Ghamic goalie Wadaan Malik unable to stop the ball once he slid in the wrong direction.

LIVE COMMENTARY

-30:00: Hello! Welcome to tonight's Group G clash between Gaullica and Maucha. Many pundits have been looking to tonight's game as the one to watch amongst the first group stage games, let's see if it can live up to its reputation!
-22:00: Becoming a staple of Ardesia 2023: both teams will be looking to impose themselves offensively on the game. Maucha will be relying on their impressive spine of Mengelberg, Beno, Asari-Dokubo and Shani for structure today.
-12:00: Gaullica bring a very experienced eleven into today's game, and they'll be hoping that experience allows them to get on top of their opponents today.
-7:00: The teams line out on the pitch, and it'll be the Chant des Gaullois played first!
-4:00: A lovely anthem! Now, time for Maucha's Mäusch, Land unseres Volkes.
-2:00: Another great anthem! The teams are lining up now! It'll be Maucha to kick off!

FIRST HALF
1': Asari-Dokubo gets us started at the Estádio Avila!
5': It's Maucha's game in the first five minutes. Asari-Dokubo and Beno are playing the Gaullican midfield off the pitch with their flair! Beno receives it in an attacking position, the ball is threaded through to Reitter on the left. He feigns a cross... and it's beaten Souchon! Reitter with the left-footed shot...!
6': So close, but just wide from the winger! A very positive start from the Cheetahs!
8': Vaugrenard with a short pass to Souchon for the restart. Souchon finds a lovely ball over to Dupuis! Brought down well by the forward, and he explodes into the box! But it's a great tackle by the Mauchan captain Mengelberg, and it's out for a Gaullican throw.
10': The throw results in nothing. It's Olebogeng on the ball, a quick one-two with Asari-Dokubo and he's away down the wing! A stellar run from the full-back, he finds a cross into the box despite Feraoun's outstretched leg... it's on the head of Gamab...!
11': But the young striker gets that one all wrong. Goal kick to Gaullica.
13': Vaugrenard to Bonnel in midfield. Bonnel finds Sartre on the run, Sartre slots it past Yar'Adua into the back of the net! But Sartre is well offside and the linesman has his flag raised. A poorly-timed run from the Gaullican talisman.
14': Mengelberg launches the free kick forward, and it's brought down well by Shani - he's one-on-one with Feraoun, beats him! He launches a cross in...!
15': Well, almost a freak moment for the Gaullican defence! Shani gets his cross all wrong, but by sheer chance it was on target and tipped over by Vaugrenard! Corner to Maucha!
18': After a short delay, a poor corner from Maucha. Goal kick.
20': Gaullica's midfield need to get their act together, they are completely disjointed! Côté loses the ball to Zawadi, Zawadi over to Shani, who takes an ambitious shot...!
21': No good from the Mauchan winger. High and wide. Another goal kick.
22': Vaugrenard has seen a lot of the ball in the first half, and he opts to punt it long this time. Pascal heads it to Ardouin, who plays it back to Pascal. Pascal cuts inside, a short ball into Sartre who darts into the box. Ntsokwana puts a leg out... Sartre goes down...! The referee blows his whistle, penalty to Gaullica!
24': Sartre has already picked up the ball to set up the penalty, but the referee's finger is on his ear. VAR surely telling him something here, it seems they're asking him to take another look at the decision!
25': The Asterian referee is taking a good look at this, he walks away from the screen, blows his whistle...decision stands! It's a penalty for Gaullica!
28': Sartre is lining up to take the penalty. He takes a deep breath, a few runs on the spot, he strikes it well...!
29': Saved by Yar'Adua! He's pushed it wide! Sartre looks to the sky as Yar'Adua celebrates, but it's not over for Maucha yet! Corner to Gaullica!
31': Pascal takes the corner, he's passed it to Bonnel on the edge of the box, who runs in to hit one with his laces! But it's not troubling Yar'Adua as it flies over the crossbar. A missed chance for Les Croisés!
33': Asari-Dokubo receives the ball from the Mauchan goal kick. He's pressed well by Ardouin, the ball goes back to Mengelberg and over to Zawadi. Zawadi down to Reitter, who tries a cross...! Blocked by Souchon! Corner!
35': Gamab heads it downwards from the corner! It's a scuffle in the box! Beno tries to nod it home...!
36': So close again! Vaugrenard is putting in an excellent performance tonight, how did he manage to get to that!? It's another corner for Maucha!
37': A short corner this time as Shani picks the ball up from the left hand side, he tries to dribble it down the touchline, but it's good defending from Pape. Deflects off of Shani and out. Gaullica surviving another sustained period of Mauchan pressure!
39': Vasseur plays a nice ball from the goal kick out to Bonnel, who brings it down with his chest. He's pressed by Beno, but beats him easily, takes a shot! Deflected off of Mengelberg, the Gaullicans think it's off his arm! They are screaming at the referee! He blows his whistle, but it's just outside the box. Mengelberg is shown a yellow card for the handball.
40': Dupuis, Pascal and Bonnel are all standing over the ball. This free kick must be only 19, 20 yards from goal. Dupuis and Pascal disperse, it'll be Isaïe Bonnel to take this free kick!
41': Bonnel hits it well! But the Mauchan wall doing its job there, it's deflected off the head of Asari-Dokubo and goes out for a corner.
44': The game is settling down a bit as we enter the closing stages of the first half. The Gaullican midfield is still looking a bit shaky: Côté is having to do a lot of work to account for Bonnel roaming forward in the attack.
45': Five minutes of added time here! The lengthy period seems to have given both teams a boost!
45+2': Beno is bringing it forward for Maucha. His options are scarce, back to Asari-Dokubo, who finds a nice ball over to Reitter who has inched a bit of space away from Souchon. He's beaten his man: the Gaullican defence are all over the place here! Reitter takes it near post, he's one-on-one...!
45+3': Wow! Another spectacular save from Vaugrenard, who is furious with his back line! Reitter can't believe it! Mauchan corner, and still goalless here in Rémont!
45+5': Maucha are trying to make this the last kick of the half. Shani is slowly lining up the corner, the Mauchan defenders are forward here. Shani connects well with the corner, really well! Mengelberg is rising above his man, it's off his head - and on target...!
45+6': It's off the bar! In the air... but Vaugrenard jumps well to claim it! He's trying to start a counter-attack, but the referee has had enough, the whistle blows for half time. What a first half, but still all to play for in this game!

HALF TIME

46': Back underway in Rémont! It'll be Côté to get us started, and it seems Varne has made some changes to the midfield for this half.
(Gaullican substitution: 30. Edouard Abadie18. Isaïe Bonnel)
48': Zawadi and Beno are linking the play here. Beno receives it low from Zawadi, he fires it into the box, Reitter brings it down... and goes down! Pape turns to the referee, but there's no doubt in his mind, penalty to Maucha!
50': Well, what a twist this could be! It's Beno stepping up to take the penalty, a few long steps backwards, he tries to place it...!
51': It's in! Vaugrenard is fooled and Beno has placed it into the bottom corner! What a twist at the Estádio Avila! 1-0!
52': The referee blows his whistle, the Mauchan team look back, they're bringing this back here! Let's look at the replay... oh no! Gamab has made his run into the box too early, this will be have to be retaken for encroachment! The goal's been chalked off and Beno will be heading back to the spot!
53': Gamab is distraught, he looks inconsolable! Inexperience could cost Maucha here! Beno takes another run up, tries to place it again...!
54': It's wide! Beno puts his head in his hands! Gamab crouches to the floor! Incredible scenes in Rémont, it's back level again!
58': Maucha have had the wind utterly knocked out of their sails here. Schauerte is looking to inject some drive back into the squad with a change.
(Mauchan substitution: 12. Alexander Kleinheisterkamp10. Jamal Mosi Zawadi)
61': It's Gaullica in front here! The 18-year-old Abadie is getting stuck in, a quick pass to Côté gets the Gaullican attack flowing. Côté to Pascal on the left, Pascal whips a ball into the box...! It's an easy claim for Yar'Adua as Maucha look to break on the counter! Kleinheisterkamp with a lovely spinning first touch, he's vollied the ball across to Reitter! That is superb! Reitter tries to play in Gamab! Gamab gets the ball on target...!
62': Vaugrenard! Tipping it wide again! The Gaullican goalkeeper is having the performance of a lifetime tonight! Mauchan corner!
66': The game's been paused as a massive tussle has broken out in the box! Beno has gone down, alleging a push from Pape! It takes a while for order to be restored. The referee brandishes yellow cards to Moussa Pape, Cyril Ardouin and Lore Olebogeng.
67': Reitter takes the corner! This game's in danger of boiling over! Asari-Dokubo heads it! Just over the bar! What a game we have here!
70': Maucha making another change here, they aren't here to share points, they want all three!
(Mauchan substitution: 9. Swazi Gaika19. !Na-khom Gamab)
72': Gaullica responding with a substitution of their own.
(Gaullican substitution: 55. Savon Tongbang23. Max Sartre)
74': The substitutes are adding a bit more pace and energy to this game. It's Maucha on the ball, Beno over to Gaika...he spins, Pape is beaten! Gaika shoots...!
75': But the shot isn't troubling Vaugrenard, who calmly collects the ball.
76': It's Vaugrenard out to Ardouin, Ardouin to Abadie who plays a nice ball out to Dupuis on the right. Dupuis cuts inside early, switches the play to Pascal. First time pass from Pascal back to Abadie who's made his way forward... Abadie takes on the shot...!
77': It's deflected off of Mengelberg and out for a Gaullican corner. Maucha takes the break in play to make their final substitution of the game.
(Mauchan substitution: 20. Tanunurwa Mubako21. Shani)
81': The corner results in nothing, and Mengelberg clears, but only out to Ardouin. Ardouin to Côté, a through ball to Pascal, he tries to curl one...!
82': GOOOOOOAAAALLLLLLLL! It's Jean-Noël Pascal who breaks the deadlock in Rémont, and what a finish to do it with! Pascal is going crazy! 1-0 to Gaullica!
83': The Mauchan manager is urging their players to keep fighting as the game restarts!
84': Beno is dispossessed by Ardouin in midfield, Gaullica are building up nicely here, much more flow to their game now! It's Abadie on the ball, out to Pascal and back to Abadie! He sets the ball to Pape! He shoots from 27 yards...! WOOOOW! WHAT A STRIKE FROM PAPE! HE CAN'T BELIEVE IT! A MISSILE INTO THE TOP CORNER! It's a one-two punch from Gaullica to break Mauchan hearts! Gaullica double their lead! 2-0!
85': The Cheetahs can't believe what is happening, they were controlling a good chunk of this game! Varne isn't taking any risks now, a defensive change from Gaullica!
(Gaullican substitution: 34. Étienne Clérico20. Claude Dupuis)
88': Gaullica are forming a defensive wall now, every player is back defending! It's Asari-Dokubo to Beno, and through to Gaika! Gaika tries to fashion a chance, but Pape is holding strong, it's cleared! Mengelberg rushing back to retrieve the ball! Not long left now!
89': Mengelberg floats a ball into the box... claimed by Vaugrenard! Cheers erupt in the Estádio Avila!
90': The officials announce ten minutes of additional time! A huge chunk of time, Maucha are elated! The stoppages seem to have been adding up in the second half!
90+2': Beno plays it out left to Mubako! Mubako crosses it, headed clear by Vasseur! Gaullica continue to hold firm! It's 90% Mauchan possession since the last goal!
90+4': It's back to Beno! He shoots... deflected off of Vasseur... Vaugrenard is stunned...!
90+5': CLEARED OFF THE LINE BY PAPE. These Gaullican defenders are putting their bodies on the line for the three points!
90+6': Maucha are throwing everything at this! Asari-Dokubo finds Makwetu on the overlap. Makwetu with a good ball into the box... headed clear by Vasseur! Out to Mengelberg, who shoots...! Ardouin blocks! It's up in the air! VAUGRENARD CLAIMS! He hits the floor in relief! The Gaullican players are tapping their keeper on the back for that one!
90+9': It's Beno facing Ardouin outside the box, they both look exhausted! Beno finds Gaika, he turns again, PAPE TACKLES AGAIN! The ball's loose, out to Asari-Dokubo, he attempts the glory shot! But it's over the bar! That's surely it for Maucha now!
90+10': Vaugrenard slowly sets the goal kick as the Gaullican players run as far up the pitch as possible. He launches the ball as far as it can possibly go, it's falling to Abadie, he can't control it, the ball's gone out! Mengelberg is rushing to take the throw in... but there's no time! Referee blows the final whistle! A famous win for Gaullica in Rémont! Final score: Gaullica 2, Maucha 0!
