Anyhow, he seems incredibly odd. Despite being a staunch conservative, for some reason he voted for the Respect for Marriage Act.

I have a better idea, lets not hope Alaska 2 happens, or Utah 1 happens, in the way I think you mean.

No and it does not matter anyway, because no matter what GMS and us say, post and link too, they dismiss it based on this or that anyway, GMS and US are always wrong on all issues based on this or that according to them, lol :)

It's not a given if they will go through with it, but McCarthy appears to be on the clock. The deal will likely get enough votes in the House to pass though it might cost McCarthy his seat - unless he's forced to negotiate with Democrats to keep his Speaker Seat.

It's official: Rep. Dan Bishop(Salisbury, NC), will later today issue a motion to vacate.

Not sure if it's going to succeed, but they did say they'll make McCarthy's life miserable if he steps out of line. They're holding true to their word on that. I wonder how many Freedom Caucus members will vote for it: Jim Jordan I do know backs McCarthy so there is a divide definitely.

The state of the Balkans has been incredibly sad since the fall of Yugoslavia. I truly wish for these regions to have peace, as I'm ethnicially Serb/Croatian and it does make me truly sad to see all the conflicts in these regions.

But the UN and NATO does jack all to help. Last time they intervened, it turned to shit. Also, why do people keep mentioning Russia in this thread lmao. Like sure, some Serbs like the nationalism of Putin but he isn't going to involve himself in Balkan affairs, especially cause he's depleting all of his countries resources trying to fight Ukraine. Not everything is related to Russia. Seen the same people talk about Russia in Turkey's election, as if the people on the ground care about any of that.

Now, how many more Republicans have to resign from Congress before they lose their majority?

Considering the fact that he’ll inevitably be succeeded by a Republican, unless said Republican has an underage sex scandal like in Alabama, yeah…

There's a big difference between venture capitalism, and leveraging all your assets in hopes they somehow increase resale value. This plan Umeria is spinning is only technically possible, and beyond stupid to actually try and apply.

It has been tried though. This is a real way in which billionaires avoid paying taxes.

No it isn't. I'm sure you got that from someone who got it from someone, and they from someone else, to go circulated it as a "billionaire bad" trope, but no. If a billionaire tried to avoid taxes by leveraging all their assets, they wouldn't be ba billionaire for very long.

Ffs, that's talking specifically about SBLOCs which is a very specific type of loan, which only lets them float capital gains taxes. It doesn't get them out of taxes, only minimizes their taxes because their net gains aren't great, (spoiler alert: everyone gets this tax break, not just the Uber rich.)

Forbes claim that this is how billionaires fund their lifestyle, and your claim that they do this with all their assets, are both ridiculously over stated.

I am not saying they do this with all their assets. I'm saying that the proposed one line tax code would still have this loophole.

Not sure about that, as that "loophole" if it really can be called that, is brought about by the specific method of accounting income. Technically it could be written out with a reduction of code.

Regardless, the entire premise of a one line tax code is just ridiculous to begin with and a great demonstration of why "libertarian economics" is a contradiction in terms.

Actually, either way if you are going to count loans as income, you're going to have to increase the code, because if you counted all loans as income, that would be wholly unworkable and economically disastrous, so you'd have to (presuming you don't want to crash the economy and price regular people out of homes forever and crash the auto industry all at once) write code describing what kinds of loans are de facto income and what kinds of loans aren't.

Regardless, the entire premise of a one line tax code is just ridiculous to begin with and a great demonstration of why "libertarian economics" is a contradiction in terms.
