President Bukobuko Maranan, adorned in the traditional elegance of the Barong Tagalog, gracefully navigated the crowd at the Malacanang Palace presidential inauguration ball. The magnificent ballroom was a spectacle of opulent decorations, illuminated by the warm glow of sparkling chandeliers. The melodic strains of soft music floated through the air, enhancing the atmosphere of merriment and celebration.

As the esteemed guests mingled and immersed themselves in the festivities, President Maranan found himself captivated by the aroma of sumptuous Maharlikan delicacies emanating from a nearby food station. With a warm smile, he invited the guests to join him in savoring the rich flavors of the nation.

"Indulge in these exquisite dishes and experience the essence of our rich culinary heritage," President Maranan said, his voice carrying a deep sense of pride. "Tonight, let us revel in the vibrant tapestry of Maharlikan flavors that showcase our cultural diversity and gastronomic prowess."

Eagerly, the guests queued up, their plates ready to be filled with an array of mouthwatering delicacies. From the savory delights of adobo and crispy lechon to the aromatic pansit and delightful bibingka, the culinary spread paid homage to the distinct flavors that defined the Maharlikan palate.

President Maranan gracefully engaged in conversations with those gathered at the food station, sharing personal stories and anecdotes related to the origins of the dishes. His genuine interest and infectious enthusiasm for Maharlikan cuisine created an atmosphere of conviviality, forging connections among the guests and fostering a sense of unity.

Expressing his sincere appreciation, President Maranan took a moment to commend the talented chefs and culinary experts who had meticulously crafted the feast. Their dedication and skill in showcasing the best of Maharlikan cuisine were acknowledged, emphasizing the importance of preserving and promoting this cultural treasure to a global audience.

As the night progressed, the enchanting melodies intertwined with the symphony of laughter and engaging conversations. President Maranan, embodying the spirit of hospitality and camaraderie, ensured that each guest felt valued and cherished. His presence, dressed in the traditional attire that symbolized Maharlikan heritage, added an air of authenticity and reverence to the occasion.

Among the esteemed guests was Vice President Consuela Estillore, who radiated grace and dignity as she engaged in meaningful conversations with attendees. Her presence underscored the importance of unity and collaboration in the nation's journey towards progress, highlighting the harmony between President Maranan and his Vice President (at least, on the surface).

With the grandeur of the inauguration ball enveloping the Malacanang Palace, the guests reveled in the celebration of Maharlikan culture, forging new connections and immersing themselves in the vibrant tapestry of flavors and traditions. The event served as a testament to the Maharlika's resilience, as it embraced its rich heritage while embarking on a new chapter under the important leadership of President Maranan.

As President Maranan continued to entertain and engage with the guests at the Malacanang Palace inauguration ball, his attention was drawn to the arrival of the esteemed Ayala Family. Clad in elegant attire, the members of the influential clan exuded an air of sophistication and purpose.

The Ayala Family, known for their business acumen and wealth, had long played a significant role in the economic landscape of Maharlika. It was no secret that they sought to expand their power and influence, not only through obvious means but also through subtle strategies.

As President Maranan caught sight of the Ayala Family's arrival, he extended a warm welcome, acknowledging their presence and the contributions they had made to the nation's progress. Aware of their ambitions, he recognized the importance of maintaining a delicate balance between their interests and the greater good of the country.

Engaging in polite conversation, the President exchanged pleasantries with members of the Ayala Family, showcasing his astute understanding of the intricate dynamics of power and influence. It was a dance of diplomacy, where he sought to nurture a mutually beneficial relationship while safeguarding the interests of the Maharlikan people.

While the Ayala Family's purpose at the inauguration ball was veiled in sophistication, President Marcos remained mindful of their intentions. He understood that their presence was not merely a social gesture but a strategic move to forge alliances and strengthen their position in the country's economic landscape.

With an astute eye and a measured approach, President Maranan ensured that their interests aligned with the greater vision of progress and inclusivity. As discussions unfolded, he artfully navigated the fine line between cooperation and maintaining the integrity of the nation's values and principles.

Balancing the aspirations of the Ayala Family with the needs of the Maharlikan people was a delicate task. President Maranan, well aware of their potential to contribute positively to the nation's growth, sought to encourage their involvement in initiatives that aligned with the government's agenda. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving sustainable development and improving the lives of all citizens.

As the night progressed, the Ayala Family found themselves drawn into meaningful exchanges with other influential figures in attendance, including government officials, industry leaders, and foreign dignitaries. President Maranan subtly facilitated connections, fostering an environment where partnerships could thrive, and where the Ayala Family's ambitions could align with the nation's progress.

The presence of the Ayala Family at the inauguration ball added an intriguing layer to the event, reminding everyone of the intricate web of power and influence that shaped the Maharlikan society. President Maranan, ever the Machiavellian leader, ensured that their aspirations were channeled towards contributing to the greater good, while keeping a watchful eye on the delicate balance of power.

The Kherkovian entourage of high-ranking military officials had been on many diplomatic missions in their time. Unlike most Kherkovians, they had sampled dishes from all over the world during their travels. But no matter how pleasant the meal, that feeling of surprise for their unadventurous Kherkovian palates was always present – not that they ever let that show.

The Kaiser had some experience with Mahárlikan food. As a young man, the now-President of Mahárlika and his family had lived in exile after the ousting of his father’s dictatorship, hosted at one of the Prukovian Royal Estates for several years. The Von Zohlburgs had ensured to visit their guests as regularly as possible during this time, usually once every two or three months, where they would often indulge in Mahárlikan cuisine with their guests. A young Valentin and Bukobuko Maranan became acquaintances during this time, but the families had long since fallen out of regular contact after the Maranan family was permitted to return to their homeland and began to participate in the liberal political sphere.

This mirrored the political relationship between the two nations. After the fall of the Mahárlikan dictatorship and the embrace of social democracy, the political ties between the Kingdom of Prukov and the new Mahárlika gradually began to unravel. By the time of Kherkovian unification, the countries were politically distant, culminating in the accession of the Republic to the League of Free Nations. Despite this political distancing, Mahárlika still imports a large number of Kherkovian goods – a hangover from the days of the dictatorship that the Republican government couldn’t – or didn’t want to – shake. Imperial financial institutions also retain their investments in Mahárlikan business, which is extensive in some cases.

With the election of Bukobuko Maranan to the Presidency, there had been some optimism in Gratberg that more cordial relations could return. While it was understood that Mahárlika wouldn’t likely be falling into the arms of the Krepost Pact anytime soon, it was at least hoped that the Imperial government could secure some sort of expansion of trade that would ideally cause debate in Mahárlika’s political sphere about its loyalties.

The Kaiser was initially sceptical about the diplomatic mission’s prospects for success, and was hesitant to attend. It was a break from Kherkovian political convention for the Kaiser to personally attend any sort of ceremony for a non-allied nation – let alone that of a democratically elected LFN member. However, he understood the thinking behind the strategy – leverage the personal relationship to secure trade expansions, the lucrativeness of which would provide tangible backing to those still supporting Krepost, and hopefully force Mahárlikan politicians and voters to think twice about the LFN. It was somewhat of a long shot, but he had decided it was worth his time. Spying the influential Ayala family at the event, the Kaiser reasoned that he had made the right choice.

While introductions had been made during the meal, there had not been an opportunity to speak to the President in any detail until now. Seeing that Maranan was alone for a moment across the ballroom, the Kaiser made his way over.

“Bukobuko, my comrade,” the Kaiser said, smiling, “We haven’t had a proper chance to talk. Congratulations again on your victory, President.”

President Maranan turned towards the familiar voice and was delighted to see the Kaiser approaching him. With a genuine smile, he extended his hand in greeting. "Your Imperial Majesty," President Maranan replied warmly. "Thank you for your kind words. Your presence here is a testament to the importance of our relationship and the potential for fruitful dialogue between our nations." Meanwhile, the First Lady was busy preoccupying herself with other female attendees, as he could clearly notice from a distance.

As they shook hands, memories of their past encounters flooded President Maranan's mind. The years spent in exile, the shared experiences, and the hope for a brighter future. It was a unique bond they shared, one that had weathered the winds of political change."Indeed, we have much to catch up on," President Maranan continued. "I must say, your commitment to attending this event demonstrates a willingness to engage in constructive dialogue. It gives me hope for the future of our nations."

He gestured towards a quieter corner of the ballroom, away from the bustling crowd. President Maranan led the way, allowing for a more intimate conversation amidst the grandeur of the occasion. "Since taking office, my administration has strived to foster stronger ties with nations around the world, including Kherkov," President Maranan explained. "After all, we believe in the power of diplomacy and cooperation to address common challenges and create mutually beneficial opportunities."

President Maranan's eyes sparkled with a sense of possibility. Despite the political complexities, he saw this meeting as a chance to lay the foundation for renewed dialogue and cooperation; Kherkov was helping Mahárlika with its newfound nuclear program, after all. "I believe that our nations, despite our differences, share a desire for progress and prosperity," President Maranan concluded. "Let us seize this moment to find common ground and build bridges that benefit our peoples. Together, we can navigate the complexities of our evolving world and create a future of mutual understanding and respect."

Coronations, inaugurations, and celebrations. Once a person has had the pleasure of a few of these visits the script of handshakes and photo ops becomes somewhat familiar. Nevertheless there was an art to the execution of it all and the diplomatic corps were intent on painting the desired picture. The Britcani charm offensive had been in full swing over the past few days. The delegation were swept from monuments to meet and greats in the lead-up to the inauguration ball. The party would regularly divide, allowing the Minister and Ambassador to attend key meetings while Princess Sophie gave interviews to local magazines and went sightseeing. Britcan had become used to the importance of soft power and Princess Sophie in particular making a good impression was vital. The smooth coordination of events had been a credit to the logistical skills of the embassy staff, shuttling their jetlagged delegates to and fro on a tight timetable.

As the festivities began the Ambassador directed the Minister around the room, making introductions as they went. Of particular interest were the various ministers of the Mahárlikan government. The recent deal on financial services had been of great benefit to the financial industry in Britcan and further deepening of trade relations was considered to be a topic worth pursuing. After the fourth or fifth dry conversation including the words "reduction of trade barriers" Sophie politely excused herself from the rest of the party and headed to the food station.

The Ambassador finally spotted the President and began to direct the Minister in his direction before spotting that his present conversation partners were the Kherkovians. She judged that interacting with the Kaiser was best avoided. Redirecting the Minister, she spotted Vice President Estillore. "Madam Vice President may I introduce the Britcani Minister for Foreign Affairs, Otto Hammerstein."

Back at the food station Sophie was examining the various dishes as her plate was filled up. The Ambassador had briefed her on what the food was prior to the dinner, it would not do to appear ignorant in these circumstances. She turned to the guest to her left, a tall man of about her age who, in a pleasant change of pace, she didn't recognise as one of the various government officials. "We are absolutely spoiled for choice, aren't we? It all smells lovely." She realised she hadn't introduced herself and extended her free hand that wasn't holding her plate. "Sophie."

This nation should not be taken to be representative of my real-life views, nor should any of the nonsense I posted on here as a teenager.

The Kaiser was ostensibly pleased with the President’s warm welcome. But it was Maranan’s words that the Kherkovian was really smiling at. There seemed to be a genuine desire to work with Kherkov. Of course, the Kaiser still doubted that Gratberg could ever reach the levels of amicability with Maynilá that it once enjoyed, but he was counting on strong trade links and the President’s personal connection to Kherkov to ensure the President would not become a Britcani mouthpiece. Indeed, the situation was largely the opposite of what happened in Saint-Auguste some years prior. Stéphanie had seemed intent on making Saint-Auguste the next Britcani province, but there was little that could be done about her personal flaws. Maranan, thankfully, did not seem to let his own politics get in the way of effective diplomacy.

Valentin joined the President away from the hustle and bustle of the main event. “These are encouraging words, President. It is encouraging to hear that your administration is committed to collaboration and diplomacy. And you’re quite right – I have attended personally to assure you Kherkov is committed to the same. I look back on our shared history of cooperation with pride, and it is my hope that, together, we will be able to move back to that level of cooperation.”

The Kaiser accepted the whiskey one of his attendants had brought him as he spoke. “Our joint nuclear enterprise is an excellent start, but I believe there are many other sectors where we can collectively thrive. I appreciate that now is hardly the time to go into specifics – hardly a way to celebrate your victory! – but a brief overview is always helpful. We could exchange initial ideas now, perhaps, and then have our staff organise a more formal meeting later?”

The Kherkovian paused, sipping on his drink before resuming. “But, before that of course, we must acknowledge our… differences, as you mentioned. Indeed, it is encouraging that you are willing to work with us in the name of peace and co-prosperity, comrade President. But there are many in the Commonwealth – in this very room, even – who will not even consider cooperation with my nation and our allies because of these simple differences. Perhaps they only wish to enrich their own pockets, perhaps it is jealousy of Kherkovian wealth, perhaps they are too ignorant to see past their own ways, it’s anyone’s guess. Whatever the reason, they do not seem to share the Krepost Pact’s vision for a sovereign, rich, and peaceful Commonwealth. And, the loudest voices against our goal often come from the meeting halls of the LFN.”

Valentin leant forward slightly, hushing his voice to just above a whisper so that only Maranan could hear him. “There have been some in my government, comrade President, that have expressed concern over your recent admission to the LFN – they worry that you will come to share the same voice as the Britcanis, the Aderans, the Augustines. Now, I have assured them of your sensible character. But just for peace of mind, old comrade, I must ask. Can I count on you to be the… voice of reason in the LFN?”

Prince Dominique's Royal Estate
Sainte-Marie
Saint-Auguste
Image

As the first rays of sunlight painted the sky in a tapestry of blush pink and tangerine hues, a gentle breeze whispered through the ornate windows of the prince's chamber, coaxing him out of his slumber. Intricate rays of sunlight danced upon the golden threads of his ceremonial military uniform, which lay perfectly pressed upon a velvet chaise longue. The uniform, a tapestry in itself, bore the emblem of his lineage, a crest that embodied centuries of valour and wisdom. Its buttons gleamed like polished gold, eager to be fastened and embraced by the prince's touch. With a sense of purpose, the prince reached for each piece of his attire, donning them one by one. The jacket, resplendent in its regalia, was lined with satin so smooth that it felt like whispers against his skin. The trousers, crisply tailored, accentuated his noble stride as he moved.

The young Prince Dominique was stationed at the military base Vieux Fort in the Ile de Charles region, he had arrived in Sainte-Marie and stayed in his luxury royal estate in the centre of the city the day before to meet with Prince Pierre and discuss their trip to Mahárlika. Prince Dominique, the younger brother of Dauphine Stéphanie and Prince Pierre, preferred to keep a low-profile and live a relatively normal life. He could often get away with not being recognised in public. He had been serving in the armed forces of Saint-Auguste for the last seven years, and had seen combat against Islamic terror groups in Ségou during multiple deployments.

On a sunlit terrace overlooking the sprawling gardens of their ancestral estate, Princes Dominique and Pierre of Saint-Auguste stood side by side, their travel bags packed and excitement brewing in the air. The soft breeze rustled through their hair. Dominique, the energetic and spirited younger brother, adjusted his military uniform with a mischievous grin.

"Pierre, my esteemed diplomat brother, ready to witness my bravery first-hand? I hope you'll be able to keep up."

Pierre, the composed and diplomatic elder brother, raised an eyebrow, amusement dancing in his eyes. "Dominique, my dear sibling, while your courage is commendable, let's not forget that it takes tact and diplomacy to navigate the complexities of international relations. I hope you won't rely too heavily on your gun collection."

Dominique playfully saluted Pierre, a glimmer of mischief in his eyes. "Rest assured, dear brother, I'll save my guns for dire circumstances. But mark my words, there may come a time when your diplomatic prowess won't be enough, and you'll need my valiant intervention."

Pierre chuckled, his diplomatic poise unwavering. "Ah, Dominique, always ready for an adventure. Just remember, while you charge into battles, I'll be the one smoothing things over and negotiating the peace."

Dominique feigned offense, placing a hand on his heart. "Smooth things over? Negotiate? Have you forgotten that sometimes it's sheer determination and might that make all the difference?"

Pierre's eyes twinkled with amusement as he nudged his younger brother gently. "Dominique, my dear sibling, remember that a well-worded agreement can be just as powerful as a well-struck blow. Besides, I'll need you to protect me from any unruly diplomatic banquets."

Dominique's laughter echoed across the terrace as he playfully nudged Pierre back. "Unruly diplomatic banquets? Fear not, Pierre. If things get out of hand, I'll be there to defend your honour and maybe even join you in a dance or two."

As they prepared to depart, the banter continued, their brotherly bond evident in their light-hearted exchange. With their unique strengths and roles, they complemented each other, ready to represent Saint-Auguste on the international stage.

The grandeur of the Malacanang Palace inauguration ball enveloped the opulent halls, with shimmering chandeliers casting a cascade of soft light upon the guests. Prince Dominique, regal and charismatic, stepped into the ballroom, his presence commanding attention and admiration. As he made his way through the sea of elegantly attired guests, his eyes were drawn to a captivating young woman, Eugenia Zobel de Ayala. Her graceful poise and radiant smile set her apart, an ethereal vision amidst the splendour of the evening. Prince Dominique felt an immediate pull, a magnetic connection that beckoned him to approach her.

With a confident stride, Prince Dominique closed the distance, his eyes fixed on Eugenia. "Good evening, enchanting Eugenia," he greeted her, his voice a melodic mix of Augustine-accented and Britcani-accented English, he gave her a traditional Augustine faire la bise, three kisses.

Eugenia, momentarily taken aback by the prince's attention, blushed and curtsied gracefully. "Good evening, Prince Dominique. Your presence here adds even more splendour to this magnificent event."

Prince Dominique's lips curved into a charming smile. "The splendour pales in comparison to the radiance you bring, Eugenia. May I have the honour of accompanying you in a dance?"

To: Britcan

Vice President Consuela Estillore extended a warm smile as she greeted the Britcani Minister for Foreign Affairs, Otto Hammerstein. "Welcome, Minister Hammerstein. It's a pleasure to have you here at a momentous occasion once more," she said graciously. "Hopefully, there hasn't been any issue between the Britcani and Kherkovian delegations this evening?" Estillore's question, both direct and rhetorical in nature, only underscored the importance of preventing explosive headlines from being printed on the major tabloids. She honestly prayed to God Almighty that Mahárlika's balancing act between LFN and Kherkov wouldn't end in a total disaster. "Otherwise, how has His Excellency been faring so far?" Besides, the real politik-maker within her was forced to concede that there were certain advantages having Maranan in charge, enabling Mahárlika to act flexible on the diplomatic scene.

Meanwhile, Jaime Alfonso III Zobel de Ayala, the young and devilishly handsome heir to the entire Conglomerate fortune, suddenly stood in front of a rather delicious-looking Britcani Princess; the fact that both of them were standing at the food section, only made things more palpable then it really needed to be. "Kumusta ka, Your Highness?" Jaime's voice was tainted by a flawless Americanized accent. The young heir momentarily placed his plate aside on an empty spot, gently taking hold of Sophie's delicate hand, and granted it as a sweet kiss of sincere affection and admiration. "I hope that the Princess' visit to Mahárlika has been wonderful so far? Would it be correct to assume that it is Her first time to ever set afoot here?" Jaime waited for a second or two for Sophie to complete her answer.

"Princess Sophie, you simply must try the adobo," Jaime pointed to a savory dish with tender chunks of meat soaked in a tangy marinade, helping Sophie to pick the food. "It's a classic Mahárlikan favorite, and the combination of soy sauce, vinegar, and spices creates a truly delightful explosion of flavors. Trust me, it's a must-have!" He chuckled, turning on the charm level at a rather high level. "And over there, you'll find pancit, a delectable noodle dish that symbolizes long life and prosperity. It's typically stir-fried with an array of vegetables and meat, creating a satisfying and flavorful meal." He gestured toward a plate of crispy spring rolls. "Don't forget about lumpia, Your Highness. These crispy rolls are filled with a variety of ingredients like vegetables, meat, and spices. They're perfect for dipping into a tangy sauce, adding an extra burst of flavor."

To: Kherkov

"May I treat His Imperial Majesty to Mahárlika's finest cigar?" As if the answer was already a given, Bukobuko continued to lead Valentin the way, heading in the direction of his office. "Of course, Kaiser Valentin, I understand the concerns that some in your government may have, but I hope to alleviate those concerns through actions and consistent engagement. Together, we can show that cooperation between our nations is not a threat but an opportunity for growth and stability," he smiled, thinking that his long-dead father, a true Mahárlikan patriot who simply prevented a communist take-over of the Republic, would've been proud. President Maranan temporarily paused in his steps, and extended a hand towards the Kaiser, a gesture of solidarity and trust. "Let us continue our discussions, both today and in the future, to build a stronger foundation of collaboration. By focusing on our shared interests and nurturing understanding, I am confident that we can restore and even surpass the level of cooperation we once enjoyed."

"Naturally," he spoke once more after a moment, "it's a given that I now ask the same of the Kaiser, namely that Kherkov is the voice of reason within the Krepost Pact, yes?" He smiled, but added a hint of seriousness behind it. "Surely we can both that agree that it would make our current political situation, much more manageable to handle, agreed?" Just then, as the conversation reached a momentary lull whilst both entered the office, President Maranan excused himself and walked over to a beautifully adorned cabinet in the corner of his office. He opened it with care, revealing an array of premium cigars from around the world.

"Kaiser Valentin," he said, with a hint of pride in his voice, "Allow me to offer you a Tabacalera Incorporada cigar, a renowned brand known for its rich history and exquisite flavor. These cigars are handcrafted with the finest tobacco leaves, reflecting the artistry and passion of our Mahárlikan tobacco industry." He extended the cigar box towards the Kaiser, a subtle gesture of camaraderie and appreciation. "It is a symbol of our testament to the finer things that our nations can enjoy together."

To: Saint-Auguste

Eugenia Zobel de Ayala's heart, one of the younger daughters of said Congolomerate family, fluttered at Prince Dominique's words, his compliments washing over her like a gentle caress. She nodded, her eyes sparkling with delight. "It would be my utmost pleasure, Your Highness," she replied, her voice infused with a mix of excitement and elegance. Once he offered her his hand, they moved towards the center of the ballroom, where couples twirled to the enchanting melodies of the orchestra. They found their place among the swirling dancers, their steps blending seamlessly as they moved in harmony.

Sensing an opportunity to engage in a casual conversation, she decided to inquire about his visit to Mahárlika, suprising him by suddenly speaking in French. "Prince Dominique," she began, her voice laced with curiosity, "I hope you've been enjoying your time here in my country so far. Have you had the chance to truly explore its beauty and experience some of its wonders?" Perhaps she happened to be his first Mahárlikan beauty and wonder ever encountered. Gosh, he's so climbable, isn't he? Handsomeness and height weren't certainly lackable characteristics, at all.

Palacio Nacional,
Puerto Rico,
Borrin Quen

The halls are filled with assistants, legislative aids and politicians as they prepare for the departure of the diplomatic mission to Mahárlika. Problems in Borrin Quen have limited the Chancellors visits to foreign nations but Borrin Quen’s and Mahárlika’s shared history and strong economic ties mean the Chancellor couldn’t miss this opportunity to get on the new president’s good side and see what new opportunities for cooperation the two countries may develop.

Chancellor Fernández was very happy, as he always is when given the chance to go to Mahárlika, after all he does prefer Mahárlikan cigars, although he would never be caught dead admitting it. On the plane ride over Ambassador Jorge Sanchez briefs him on the new president and all the other recent happenings in Mahárlika.

They arrive in Mahárlika with much anticipation and head to the inauguration ball, as they walk in and gaze at the ornate interior of the palace, even if they’ve seen it before its beauty never ceases to amaze them. This is especially true for Chancellor Fernández, coming from an extremely disadvantaged background, growing up in government run housing projects, he was not accustomed to any luxuries. His not so favorable attitude towards fancy occasions has led to him only ever participating in such activities when it is diplomatically important such as this one. The Ambassador introduced him to several important members of the Mahárlikan government. Shaking hands, exchanging basic pleasantries.

The Chancellor is never afraid to talk about political ideas and always eager to partake in a friendly debate. As he talks to some ministers in the Mahárlikan government about how he would like restructure the tax code he notices Vice President Estillore talking with some officials from Britcan, seeing the opportunity to try and better Borrin Quen’s international ties in this dangerous new world, he walks over to introduce himself.

Hammerstein smiled at Estillore, he understood the implication of her question. Mahárlika's balancing act was not an ideal situation as far as the Britcani's were concerned. Having a member of the LFN being so friendly with the ever-belligerent Kherkovians was certainly regrettable. Nevertheless, he appreciated the delicate situation given the historic ties between the two nations, even if he was cautious of the intentions of the new president. Maranan was just one man, even if he was the son of a dictator, and the Britcani government had no intention of souring relations with Mahárlika. So long as they knew what side to be on when the chips were down at least.

"No issue at all Madam Vice President." He replied, maintaining the smile. "We understand that the President has a familial connection to Kherkov and would not want to cause him any regrettable embarrassment at such a lovely event." He cast his eyes around the room, spotting the approaching Chancellor Fernández. "The evening has been delightful, I hope that we will have the opportunity to return your nation's generous hospitality in the near future."

"Chancellor Fernández, delightful to meet you in person." Hammerstein said, greeting the Borrin Quenian. "Chancellor Fernández, delightful to meet you in person. I have heard the happy news about your application to join the LFN, the Chief Whip tells me that we will almost certainly have the votes to approve it once the vote is tabled."

Sophie allowed him to take her hand and kiss it. The gesture was rather old-fashioned by Britcani standards but she had to admit it had a certain charm. Besides, a literal princess could hardly complain about a bit of chivalry and his good looks helped smooth everything over anyway.

"It has been deligful, though as usual it can be hard to find decent conversation that doesn't involve politics when at these sorts of things. It is indeed my first time Mahárlika so I've been taking in the sights." She answered with a smile. Sophie listened as he described the many dishes, it all sounded delicious and she happily tried what he suggested though her eyes spent a little longer on his visage than on the food.

She recalled the briefings on the guests that she had received on the flight, struggling to place him. The guest list had been long and the briefing unsurprisingly focused on the diplomatically important characters. He certainly wasn't any sort of politician. "I am afraid that you still have me at a disadvantage..." She said, giving him a chance to introduce himself. "Tell me, what brings you here? You certainly don't look like a politician." Sophie glanced at the grey men that dotted the room. "...and I do mean that as a compliment." She said with a polite laugh.

Prince Dominique's heart skipped a beat as he felt the warmth of Eugenia's hand in his and witnessed the sparkle in her eyes. He guided her gracefully through the ballroom, their steps synchronized in a mesmerizing dance. The music enveloped them, creating an enchanting atmosphere that seemed to mirror their blossoming connection. As Eugenia shifted the conversation towards his visit to Mahárlika, Prince Dominique's gaze softened, appreciating her curiosity and charm. Her sudden switch to French caught him off guard, but he welcomed the opportunity to engage in a more intimate conversation.

"Mademoiselle Eugenia, your country has indeed captured my heart," Prince Dominique replied, his voice carrying a hint of admiration. "Mahárlika's beauty is unparalleled, from its breathtaking landscapes to its rich cultural heritage. I have been fortunate to witness some of its wonders during my visit."

He paused for a moment, glancing around the ballroom, before continuing. "But I must confess, it is your beauty and grace that truly captivate me tonight. Amidst all the wonders I have encountered, meeting you has been the most delightful surprise."

Prince Dominique's words were genuine, a reflection of his sincere admiration for Eugenia. As the music played on, he felt a deepening connection with her, the conversation flowing effortlessly between them. Gentlemanly and charming, Prince Dominique understood the delicate balance of courtship. While he appreciated Eugenia's admiration, he sought to build a connection that extended beyond superficial attraction. The allure of her beauty was not lost on him, but he aimed to discover the depths of her character, her passions, and her dreams. With each twirl and sway, their steps intertwined, mirroring their growing rapport. In that moment, Prince Dominique found himself grateful for the serendipity that had brought them together at this grand ball. He silently vowed to make the most of this enchanting evening, savoring every moment shared with Eugenia.
