NSCF? Not so fast, as Ian Lautner's new QBC show announces name, Thanksgiving Sunday debut
Do you remember when you last heard that Ian Lautner's heading to the world of sports administration with NSCF awaiting in the wings?
Not so fast, as the future Hall of Fame quarterback, who has set himself in the chronicles of a half-dozen generational quarterbacks who have come out of the Calanian state in recent memory, has settled on the format of his QBC talk show series. The QBC announced this morning that Good Morning Quebec (with Ian Lautner) will debut at the Thanksgiving Sunday morning.
With Lautner, a five-time Imperial Bowl winner and six-time QFL MVP in sixteen seasons with Joongyeong Voyageurs and Attawapiskat Broncos, Good Morning Quebec will be run as a 90-minute show, airing every Sundays at 9h30 in the morning. To be held right after the morning news at nine a.m., the 90-minute show will be followed by Sing and Dance, the traditional staple of the national broadcaster since the year 1962.
Lautner, who signed a multi-year contract with the QBC after spending most of spring on a post-retirement trip abroad, expressed his excitement with his show, his first full-time foray into entertainment industry. Speaking to the media in front of the Voyageurs Complex where he was present as guest coach for the Voyageurs' training camp, he made quick note of the situation: 'I'm glad to do it. Obviously it will be a challenge, especially considering the nature of the late-morning shows, but I think it's going to be a pleasant challenge.
'Music, Sports, Current Affairs, you name it. Funs will be had, spoils enjoyed, and of course, you will make fun of us and we will too. Let's have a blast.' He said.
The QBC release calls Good Morning Quebec a dynamic, satirical look into current affairs, music and sports, with a wide range of interactions to be made by the national broadcaster's strong, emerging cast and a lineup of guests week in and out. While it carries a certain sense of rebranding due to the profile of its television host, Good Morning Quebec is expected to carry the torch of the longtime morning talk shows, which have traditionally been run by the ex-sportsmen (Bon Matin, c'est le Dimanche!) or a wide mix of entertainers (Saturday Morning Utja) and would feed into elder-friendly Sing and Dance.
Braniff-Cole Television and Entertainment will be producing it for the QBC, with Jean-Christophe Nolet, Sung Yeong-Hyeon and Noh Moon-Sik, the last of whom had transferred from the QBC Kids after a decade as star producer, serving as executive producers. Horace Glenn and Nancy Braniff-Cole will be the producers.
