But Experts Suspect Mild Irony?
Centuries ago, a good few decades before football was remotely important, a young Audioslavian national team entered, and won, the first ever Under 21 World Cup. Since rebranded to the Di Bradini Cup, the U21WC was held twice per cycle, back when 'twice per cycle' meant 'once every two years', with the idea that nations shouldn't need to flip an entire squad of 17-20 year-olds between two cycles of, back then, definitely four years.
The tournament was short, the competition not exactly fierce, and in the end the "Slaves", as the Bulls were once called, overcame an opening-day defeat to Creedence Clearwater to defeat the very same team in the final. Although forgotten now, the turn-around in fortunes against that particular opposition was, of course, called the Creedence Clearwater Comeback.
At the very end of the tournament, a trophy was presented. The very same trophy that had been highlighted before the cup began.

They have also decided that each trophy should be unique and will be creating them from scratch. The first cup is in the shape of a swan, made from glass with two black pearls for eyes.
A beautiful trophy, one nevertheless referred to as SiLvErWaRe by some very stupid Audioslavians, but it would meet an unfortunate end.

Clearwater replied late on through a strike from the number eight as Audioslavia's defenders tired, but the team held on until the final whistle.
As the whistle blew the coaching staff lept off the bench and ran onto the field, pilling on a group of players who were already celebrating.
It's the first medal the 'slaves have ever won, not counting a losers medal in WC12 and a 'Worst... Team... Ever...' award in WC5.

...and the glass swan is being handed to the ASholes Captain. He's lifted it above his head and is shaking it vigorously. Oh my! He's dropped it, it's shattered into a million pieces. I'm sure that's something we won't forget in a hurry."
If it seems a little harsh that the tournament organizers would refer to the winning team as 'ASholes' ('AS' was the Bigramme for Audioslavia. Yes, back in the early days, we only had the two letters to choose from), you should go and read the various articles and stories coming from Audioslavia in World Cup 11, also held in Total n Utter Insanity, where the visiting Audioslavians took as many liberties as they could with the hosts. Or rather, you should never read the World Cup 11 thread, because it's all horrific. Seriously. At one point Adolf Hitler opens fire on a team bus. Either way, Audioslavia at that time deserved the abuse. We were even more a nation of annoying its than we are now.
Those shattered remains of that glass swan were swept into a bag and poured into a trophy cabinet, and for years that was the sum total of Audioslavia's sporting success. It, like Audioslavia, was an edgy joke. But now, long after said trophy cabinet has been adorned with each of the WCC titles, trophies from two different regions, and the like, the joke has been cleaned up for modern audiences, all at the hands of the mysterious yet frightfully angry Just Stop Hal.
The extremist activism group has been in the news in recent weeks for such stunts as throwing inflateable ones and zeros into a river, overturning electric cars and, most recently, farting in a microchip factory. That this most recent stunt includes stealing, rebuilding and replacing a broken glass trophy is an equally perplexing way of documenting the group's fight against Artificial Intelligence.
Only some experts in computer science has posited the following: The group could not have faithfully recreated the statue from shards of broken glass without the help of some kind of artificial intelligence
*The statue: Before and After
The group initially denied the claims, but one member has since come forward on social media admitting that, yes, they had used an artificial intelligence to digitally recreate the swan from the shards and a machine to recreate said digital image using the actual shards, but the member stresses that they had to do this to help the group quickly finish their mission and, thus, more quickly get across their message that Artificial Intelligence is not useful at all and, in fact, takes business away from actual humans.
Cathair-based Glass Swan Reconstruction Engineer Duncan Flouths, of Flouth’s 24 Hour Glass Swan Reconstruction Ltd, was unavailable to comment at time of writing.
As you can tell from the images above, the black pearl eyes from the original sculpture have not made their way into its reconstruction, despite being present in the pile. Police units around the capital have asked residents to stay on the look out for a small pair of fragile balls as they may indicate membership of a performatively edgy protest group.
As for the trophy itself, it has taken its old place back in the trophy cabinet at the Project Sports Museum, but many are calling for its immediate destruction, citing the trophy as an eyesore.
“It’s so pretty” said one museum patron, “it’s just so not us?”
