why? Its so uninviting and off putting.
Government buildings should have a welcoming aura and a whimsical feel to them such as this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_State_Capitol or this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchester_Town_Hall

Like I said before I simply like the aesthetic brutalist architecture gives off
I disagree I don't think government buildings should look like that, personally I feel like the buildings you showed look too in your face and overcompensating

Me too, I don't really like those buildings either. The Texas one is a little better though because the pale pink makes it much prettier. But the town hall is just plain concrete and is just brutalist architecture but fancier and with a dome.

How are they in face and overcompensating? To me they are inviting and not imposing. It gives the impression of openness like the government should be.
What about this? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotes_Rathaus

I don't really know that's just the feeling I get from them, they just feel like their too big and overly complicated in their design, maybe I'm just fucking depressed but I hate the look of buildings that are trying to appear welcoming and warm
I like the last one better than the rest it feels more toned down than the others but I still don't particularly enjoy looking at it

I think government buildings should appear welcoming and warm. In a Democracy it gives the aura of transparency that you can come in and observe your Government. Boston City hall doesn't do that.
What's too big and overly complicated about them?
This does: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iowa_State_Capitol

Like I said before I buildings trying to look like that disgust me I simply hate the aesthetic, also I despise democracy so feel free to take guesses as to how that influences my tastes
All the towers that jutt out of them, the dozens of pillars, the different colors over them, all the small details it all just feels far to much on a building, the one you sent in this is possibly the worst one yet

No wonder Boston City hall appeals to you so much. Its exact opposite of what most want in government building.
The Iowa Capitol is so colorful and alluring.

I like buildings that are simple and don't look like their trying to be something special, brutalism accomplishes this while almost every other style doesn't, Boston Hall looks like it was built to accomplish a function Iowa city Hall looks like a tacky palace wannabe
