Mertagnians have a bit of football fatigue at the moment, and it's not the fault of the Mertagnian football team. The FMF can certainly be blamed, signing away soul sucking contract after soul sucking contract and delivering no less than five football tournaments on Mertagnian soil in the last five years. Mertagne's national team have appeared in two of them, and as such national team fans living in the nation's bustling cities have been overexposed to the best in new blood in the multiversal competition. Half of them are contented with the relative calm that the Mertagnian side provides, yet discontented with the lack of threat that it provides, and the other half are up in arms that the national side isn't emulating the latest and greatest in tactical breakthroughs pioneered by these new squads.

That said, Mertagne are in the best position they've ever been before a World Cup qualifiers in the modern era. The work of Ázëwyn Fëanáro, Starblaydia's second finest footballing export*, this team has been drilled and will be looking to make a strong qualifying run, hoping to unseat teams that believe they may be well cemented into the play-offs by virtue of being in the top two pots. While last cycle was touted as 'the one' for qualification, Mertagne were pipped to the post following a valiant fight against three of the multiverses top national teams in Nephara, Cassadaigua, and Kelssek. This cycle, however, after a strong Cup of Harmony where Mertagne were eventually defeated by the tournament winners, on paper the team is certainly strong enough to break though to the playoffs at the very least. An ultimatum has been delivered to Fëanáro as an impatient fan-base grows, however - should she fail to reach the play-offs, the threat of her removal from the squad is certainly something that has been sent her way. Cool, calm, and collected, however the Starblaydi elf is so well ingratiated into the movements of the FMF it is likely the institution would collapse without her. Time will tell if the threats from the FMF board actually come to fruition.

Mertagne's style of football has affectionately been referred to as 'pre-football' by eminent journalists across the region, focusing on the fundamentals of making ball go fwoosh towards goal in front more times than the other folks on the pitch can. Helping the squad do that will be players such as Erdotza de la Fontaine, who will be taking the mantle of team captain after a long and successful career both for Mertagne and for the domestic league of Tikariot - and she shows no signs of stopping just yet. Also in command is Rhiannon Fawn, who finds herself increasing her presence in the national team after a stellar bout of play in the last CAFA. While the team went out in the Ro16, Fawn was vital in the group stage, keeping enough goals out against some very attack-minded teams to put Mertagne through the stage undefeated. Mertagne's defence contains names such as Sabrina Aikman, one of the fastest defenders to grace the team sheet, and EOT stalwarts in Corrie Kidman and Briac Lewis, who make the journey up north to play for the homeland once again.

The midfield is truly the core of this 3-4-3 side, and several big Mertagnian names continue to play here. Many have said that the midfield is suffering from an advanced age problem, but new ideas and players continue to float through the set, including Stewart Bickley, one of Lehen Neorudo's most erratic yet effective players, and Kyra Mijancas, who is garnerning a solid career in Kelssek.

If the midfield is the core of the side, the attackers make the point and they make the point well. The pool of front-fielders is capable of placing shots that hit the mark, and the Mertagnian side is no stranger to scoring from set-pieces, although it finds this conversion difficult in corners, preferring close free-kicks or penalties. Spearheading the attack is likely to be Holly Eveson, but young Burro Curwood has often found himself in the right place at the right time to score a goal. Tara Number provides the wisdom up front and the skill to boot, often serving as a cooler option than the pairing of Eveson and Tevente Kings, who have a habit of pushing themselves too far in competition with each other before getting under each other's skin.

For the World Cup Qualifiers, The FMF has given rights for four stadiums to host nations coming to Mertagne. If you RP the match first, you are welcome to choose any of these stadiums for your game to have taken place in. They are, in ascending order of capacity:

The Ring Tank Stadium, Ostosaide, Harridan (Capacity, 54,000)
Located in Ostosaide, this stadium is home to Octosaide, and as the name suggests, boasts the region's largest enclosed aquarium on the outside of the stadium. Large enough for sea creatures of all types to enjoy their lives, the aquarium is carefully maintained by a complex climate control system, which has recently been upgraded in an effort to avoid promoting the growth of a thick green algae that had previously covered the stadium. Visitors to the stadium can view the aquatic flora and fauna from two angles - outside the stadium, with binoculars at regular viewing points around it, or from the inside at the Ring Tank Aquatic Viewing Centre. The pitch, located inside and away from the view of the aquarium, is well kept and its 54,000 seats are coloured in the blue and yellow of the local side.

Nine Star Arch, Webster, The Forkelands (Capacity: 66,500)
The Nine Star Arch is an imposing sports stadium found in the city of Webster, and is home to a source of national pride - the fierce domestic football club FMFC Ninestar. The nine large spotlights that adorn the Nine Star Arch’s titular arch have many uses; two of them during games played at this stadium are to spin and provide a light show whenever a team scores, and to provide those living in and around the city of Webster with a live score graphic, with a number of lights on opposing ends of the arch lit with the corresponding team’s home colour depending on how many goals they have scored. Many teams that play here have the dream to 'capture the arch', which is achieved by scoring more than five goals in a game, so that a majority of the nine lights on the arch are in your team's colours. Two teams have captured the arch in WCC competition - none of them Mertagne. Will your nation be the third?

Dannin City Stadium, Dannin (Capacity: 85,750)
Dannin City Stadium sits in the heart of Mertagne's capital, and its unique look ensures that it's both an art piece, a functional stadium, and an eco-friendly statement all at once due to its assortment of solar panels, which wax and wane with the passing of the sun - an event that happens on occasion here in the wetlands. Home to top-tier domestic team Century Mertagne, the patriotic lime and dark green seating is sure to excite any nation that comes to play here. The stadium, shaped like a question mark or a tadpole(?), with its tail end facing south, also boasts an entertainment complex and is a hub venue for the local community.

Flynn Ar3na, New Fligsive, Plitterland (Capacity: 88,750)
A project that could be considered the crucible of New Fligsive, Mertagne, the Flynn Ar3na (named as it is the third stadium to bear the name) was built as a multi-year construction project between regional construction giant Flynn’s, and the Mertagnian government. The Flynn Ar3na boasts a unique design that iterates on the design of its predecessor, the Flynn Arena in Fligsive, Euran Oceania Territories. This incarnation of the stadium has sacrificed some of its seats in order to incorporate a unique art section - where the old Flynn Arena’s upper ring would have been, here instead sit thousands of individually cast faceless metal statues, each inscribed with a names of Fligsivi civilians and combatants during the Corvidae War and associated Fligsive Incident. The unique acoustics that these metal statues cause in the upper ring creates a scintillating echoing effect when sound is broadcast from the top, which provides unique opportunities in this multi-purpose stadium, home to club side New Fligsive’s Memory. It is said that sometimes, the statues create the echo of a crowd lost to time.

Please assume YES for all answers in the Permission Box – just TG me first if it's particularly insane and/or egregious. Also, anything COVID related can do one.

KRYTENIA 2306 WORLD CUP SQUAD
Modifier: +3

Image
Beginning their football journey way back in the second Baptism of Fire competition, Krytenia are one of the oldest national teams still competing in international football. With five World Cups hosted, as well as a smattering of AOCAFs, Cups of Harmony, Baptism of Fires, and even a CAFA Cup, they also have a deserved reputation for organising top-level football competitions. What they don't have, though, is a reputation for winning. They are yet to win a World Cup; in fact, they have only reached one final, losing to Aguazul in World Cup 58. Five semi-final defeats are what set the tone for the Dragons – indeed, losing in the semis of a major competition is known as the “Krytenian Curse”. That said, there is silverware in their cabinet. Having created the AOCAF Cup, Krytenia eventually won the fifty-second iteration of the competition; more recently, they won Cup of Harmony 78 and nearly added a second two cycles later, losing to fellow co-hosts Græntfjell on home soil.

They may have a reputation as the multiverse's nearly men, but never let yourself be deluded that the Krytenians are defeatist. Even though they may come up short, it's a very rare thing to see a Dragons team simply give up. Be aware that when the sky blue shirts are on the field, you will be in for a tough game, and victory will always be hard-earned.

Image
Manager – BRELK-XERAL Erv (QUS), Age 64
Started their career in their native Qusmo, where they brought first KF Atlov and then Atlov Juzuna to prominence (or at least relevance) in the domestic and international game. This led to them getting the national team job at Brenecia, which resulted in a Campeonato Esportiva trophy. Having replaced Richard Valens in the hotseat – and then faced off against him three times in their first cycle as Valens landed the Ochre Islands job - “BXE” has hit a bit of a logjam in terms of moving the team forward.

Assistant Manager – Graham LAWTON, Age 53
A surprise appointment, but one in keeping with the philosophy of Brelk-Xeral Erv. Lawton has ascended to the role from his stint as manager of Ashton Olympic's Under-21 setup, and will be on board to help develop the younger players in the squad. Has built a rapport with BXE, with the pair's approaches to the game complimenting each other nicely.

Goalkeeping Coach – Aaron SHEPHERD, Age 46
Defensive Coach – Andrew THORNTON, Age 59
Offensive Coach – Alex VINELLI, Age 51
Physiotherapist – Stephen WILLIS, Age 65

Image
Image

Amanda BACH
Age: 21
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Caversham

Given Krytenia's non-segregated approach to football and the nation's propensity for producing talented goalkeepers, it's perhaps surprising that Bach is the first woman called up to the national side. The Caversham stopper seems to be made up entirely of limbs; her teammates have steered into this skid by nicknaming her “The Black Widow” - after the spider, before anyone asks.

Image

Gabriel ALMADA
Age: 27
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Avidia United

A safe pair of hands, though could work on his positioning. Almada's distribution, on the other hand, is top notch.

Image

Louis KENDRICK
Age: 24
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Royal Emberton

Kendrick is tall. Like, ridiculously so. Measuring up at 7'2”, and with hands like shovels, the Royals stopper is an imposing figure in the goalmouth. That said, he has a tendency to parry rather than catch the ball cleanly.

Image
Image

Justin DARCY
Age: 24
Position: Right-back
Club: Mercia Bromham

Bombastic wing-back who fits right in with BXE's attacking philosophy. Looks more comfortable with the ball at his feet than trying to win it back off opposing wingers.

Image

David GREEN
Age: 29
Position: Left-back
Club: Ousevale Borough

Pace for days, decent positioning, can be a liability with his tackling. Let's just say his Ousevale team-mates are well-drilled in defending free kicks from wide positions.

Image

Robert GORMAN
Age: 25
Position: Centre-back
Club: Bradwell Saints

A thinking man's defender, Gorman is a calm head on young(ish) shoulders. Not the best in the air, but makes up for it with accuracy in the tackle and excellent distribution.

Image

Sonny CHIESA
VICE-CAPTAIN
Age: 30
Position: Centre-back
Club: Tanques AOE (KOR)

Matured like a fine wine in Ko-oren, where he's added steel to his smarts. Not the quickest but has the yards in his head.

Image

Stephen LORIMER
Age: 26
Position: Left-back
Club: Ashton Olympic

Solid full-back with excellent positioning skills. Lorimer does, however, lack the pure pace and adventurousness preferred by Brelk-Xeral Erv, hence his place on the bench.

Image

Richard McGOWAN
Age: 26
Position: Right-back
Club: Caledon Simpson

Feet of a ballet dancer, face only a mother could love.

Image

Malcolm KIRSTEN
Age: 27
Position: Centre-back
Club: Royal Emberton

A fan of the “Sarzie Rules” version of handegg but lacked the skillset for that sport. Transitioned to football when he discovered he was pretty good at kicking the round ball; linebackers make for good defenders, apparently.

[Image

Derek HIGGINS
Age: 22
Position: Centre-back
Club: Emberton Hibernians

Speedy centre-back who could, in another life, have been a box-to-box midfielder. An absolute rock for Hibs.

Image

Kevin JAMESON
Age: 23
Position: Centre-back
Club: Mercia Bromham

Very much from the “hoof it into Row Z” school of defending, which is why he's on the fringes rather than the first eleven. Reliable as a metronome, though.

Image
Image

Savannah QUINN
CAPTAIN
Age: 29
Position: Central midfield
Club: Straudum VV (KOR)

Surprisingly few women make it into the national team squad, despite Krytenian football not being gender-segregated. Quinn is absolutely here on merit, though, and in the World Cup 92 qualifiers became the first woman to captain the side. An absolute dervish with the ball at her feet; her and Scott Stringer will be looking to be the fulcrum of the Dragons' attack once again.

Image

Scott STRINGER
Age: 33
Position: Central midfield
Club: Ousevale Borough

The central midfield position is the centre of gravity around which the Krytenian attack orbits, and there are some who felt that young Stringer wouldn't be up to the task. Ousevale fans, though, knew better, with favourable comparisons to the great Ricky Sexton being bandied about amongst the Southern Arena faithful thanks to his sublime skills on the ball. Silenced the doubters emphatically when he exploded onto the scene in Cup of Harmony 82. Now in his thirties, the elder statesman of the squad knows time is running out for a chance at glory with the national team.

Image

Owen HALLER
Age: 22
Position: Left midfield
Club: Emberton Reds

Free-kick specialist and deadly accurate in the pass. Having Darcy behind him should allow Haller to cut inside and create havoc in the middle of the park as well.

Image

Liam HAYES
Age: 29
Position: Right midfield
Club: Mercia Bromham

Tall for a winger at 6'3”, and looks like he should be tripping over his own feet. Despite this, is deceptively skillful with the ball at his feet. Will drift in to threaten the box if the ball is on the other flank; with Haller doing the same on the opposite side, expect headaches for opponents.

Image

Jules RENARD
Age: 21
Position: Left midfield
Club: Beckton Supermarine

Tormalay-born winger snatched from CFF Monthuez's squad as a teenager by the Mariners. Flies down the left flank with strawberry blonde locks flowing; will almost certainly make a mint advertising shampoo at some stage in his career.

Image

Esteban SALVADOR
Age: 21
Position: Central midfield
Club: Avidia United

If Scott Stringer is reaching the tail end of his career, the future of his position is at least in safe hands. Salvador looks so at home with the ball at his feet, you're expecting him to be playing in tartan slippers. Offers a dead-ball alternative to Owen Haller as well.

Image

Zachary LYONS
Age: 24
Position: Central midfield
Club: Stanton Town

Insert inevitable comparisons to Cormac O'Neill here. To be fair to Lyons, though, he sprays the ball around with eyebrow-raising levels of accuracy.

Image

Simon MASARI
Age: 26
Position: Right midfield
Club: Casuals Osteria

Once considered the next Robert Reeder; Hayes' usurping of his position has quietened that particular comparison, which has actually allowed him to be his own player a little more. Loves a stepover, will try and create separation for a cross.

Image

Ryan HOLTZ
Age: 22
Position: Central midfield
Club: Casuals Osteria

The engine room of the Casuals team, Holtz is a classic ball-winning midfield general. Lacks the creativity to be truly Team BXE material, however.

Image
Image

Mark PETRACCHI
Age: 27
Position: Half-forward
Club: Emberton Reds

Marauding forward, comfortable playing as a target man but prefers creating space and confusion in front of the defensive line.

Image

Angus JACK
Age: 24
Position: Striker
Club: WSR AFC (KOR)

In the words of the Cyan Army:

“He's just A. Jack in the box, from the region with a fox, and he can score just about anything....”

Image

Gil SANCHEZ
Age: 23
Position: Striker
Club: Avidia United

”El Tiburón” (The Shark) to his team-mates, Sanchez is always on the move looking for a juicy morsel of a pass to get his teeth into. Can be “a bit” tempramental, in the same way that Jupiter is “a bit” big.

Image

Ben STEWART
Age: 26
Position: Half-forward
Club: Mercia Bromham

Loves to speed down the channels, creating chances for his fellow front-men. Lacks a bit of commitment in the shot himself, though.

Image

Greg WILLIAMS
Age: 21
Position: Striker
Club: Ousevale Borough

Diminutive striker, good close control, bags of pace, finds space well, general pain in the backside for defenders.

Image
Image
“System Erv”, named for...well, take a guess, is on the face of it a 4-2-3-1. With the Krytenians on the ball, however, expect this to change quickly to a 4-2-4 as the second line pushes up to support the striker. The two holding midfielders will be the fulcrum of the attack; expect the ball to move quickly between light blue shirts, especially on the counter. Press, pace, and overloading and overwhelming opposition defences will be the order of the day.

Off the ball, Krytenia will play a high line; they may be vulnerable to balls over the top – if opposition attackers can time their runs to avoid the offside and beat the Dragons' defenders for pace.

The Team

Goalkeeper: Lauro Hernández, 22 (age)

Lauro Hernández, commonly nicknamed "Lau Nández" who currently plays for the Red Dolphins in Ligue One (First Division), having already been champion of important titles for the Red Dolphins, such as the Communities Cup (Domestic Championship) in 2021, and the important and difficult, Giants' Cup (Domestic Championship) in 2019. Lauro Hernández is known for his impressive reflexes, and also for his high-distance passes.

Left Centre Back: Jimmy Jones, 27 (age)

Right Centre Back: Tom Redwood, 23 (age)

Tom Redwood, or just Tom, is known for his extreme strength, and also for his many penalties, he commonly receives a yellow card, and can easily injure someone, despite this, he is a great defender who has had a good season in 2022 by the Red Dolphins, and is being considered for a transfer to European football.

Left-Back: Joe Donaldson, 35 (age) [CAPTAIN]

Joe Donaldson, or just Joe, is an experienced player, which is why he is the captain, in addition to having previously been a psychology student and having had leadership experiences in the world of football, he has great resistance, in addition to also serving as a playmaker.

Right-Back: Ty Sánchez, 22 (age)

Ty Sánchez, or known by his nickname as "Che". Ty is a sprinter, he is also a good tackler and he owns a highly accurate tackle. He also enjoys high support from the crowd, possessing great charisma and fair play. (On some occasions, he participates in the attack)

Right Central Midfielder: Eduardo Ramos, 28 (age)

Eduardo Ramos, or just Ramos, is a slower player, but he has great skills in physical disputes, he is strong, and he knows the right measure when it comes to rebounds, he rarely advances on someone to hurt him, and at the same time, he has precision, in addition to handling the ball with mastery, and dribbling well, he is the captain of the team as soon as Joe is substituted, or, in the worst case scenario, receives a red card.

About

After a relative failure in the IAC-17, Harry Islands will now try, with a good performance in the WC93, the team is the same that disputed the last IAC, but now, they are more experienced, now, the Harryans will dispute its second international sporting championship from soccer.
The Team will come using Tiki-Taka, and also, always abusing speed to penetrate the defense, the team is confident again, and the big and faithful fans too, everyone learned a lot in the last IAC, and will apply all the knowledge acquired in the middle of the way at WC 93.

Nickname: The Cormorants

Igrene Cantor's stocks have taken a slight dent, but mostly in a way that raises spectres of the past. Last World Cup, Nephara only barely qualified through a last-moment surge and were then fairly indifferent after a storming 4-1 opening win; reaching the semifinals of the Copa Rushmori was a step in the right direction, but an indifferent showing at the Eagles' Cup has caused serious doubts over Nephara's depth of quality in attack. Regardless; it's Nephara, and Nephara are always among the favourites, even if Radeka Lind is the last holdover from the Golden Age.

Tactics
Image
Nepharan football is based around playing hard, pressing aggressively, playing for keeps. Occasionally this leaves gaps behind the high defensive line, though most Nepharan goalkeepers are in the sweeping mould these days to compensate. Marchers are, by and large, a physically imposing folk, and eager to throw their size around. The footballing culture is intensely competitive, and those that survive to make their way to the top are hellbent on winning at any cost. Elbows to the face. Subtle digs in the ribs. Diving is dishonest when opponents do it but streetwise when Nepharim do it. In short, Nephara are the bully from two years above who picked you, specifically, out as a natural target.

That is often the foreign perspective, but it overlooks a key fact; Nepharan football can honestly be beautiful to watch. Generations of players brought up on dry plains or asphalt play the ball quickly and fearlessly along the ground, never sideways when there's a forward option open, always looking to stretch and probe and stay one really good pass away from a goal. Nepharim are undoubtedly physical, even cynical, but their success has been built off the backs of ruthless, fast-paced passing football.

Their formation is fairly rigid and disciplined, with plenty of strength all across the pitch, particularly in the forms of Constantine and Southsea ahead of Scales and Copperhead in the heart of defence. Madita Brewer plays a floating role as a creative playmaker off the right, with Loeher a more traditional winger.

Common Substitutes
If their attacking approach isn't working, then the most clear switches of approach are to take off Southsea for either the silky playmaker Kvasina, or, as a 'break glass in case of emergencies' option, Bravura Harper to partner Vetiver up front. Vetiver will never be taken off the field if Nephara need a goal.
Southsea will frequently be replaced in midfield by the more physical Bellona Sebold. If booked or beaten for pace, Southsea or Constantine may be replaced by the younger, raw-boned but less technical Rosziter.
The fullbacks have to do a lot of work, and Cantor will frequently substitute on Lind or Levering just as a fresh set of legs late in the game. Lind will also often see minutes late to hold onto victory, with her calming presence.

The Godhead
For home matches, and during international tournaments, Nephara wheels out the 'Godhead', a giant boulder with an eerie resemblance to Gethin Ramsey, first manager of the Cormorants in the modern era and by now long dead. Nepharim have a superstitious streak, and while nobody's saying it is, in fact, the mystic reincarnation of their most iconic leader, nobody's quite not saying it, either. The Godhead is traditionally 'walked' to the stadium by Nepharan ultras using an intricate series of ropes, and often a flare is wedged into its 'mouth' to simulate a smoking cigar.

Staff
Manager - Igrene Cantor - Age 53
Assistant Manager - Valery Cain - Age 57
One of the few people to have won the World Cup as both a player and a manager, Igrene Cantor excels at building chemistry and a true, tight-knit unit, squeezing the absolute most out of the parts available to her. An absolute dream to a Nephara side that can often be less than the sum of its parts. Cantor thinks of each player in terms of what they bring to the complete picture, not just as a rating out of a hundred; she won't just pick the best eleven players, but a coherent, fully functioning squad that would die for each other on the pitch. Cain is an odd choice of assistant manager, a journeyman manager across Nephara's pyramid, yet somehow Cantor clearly sees a kindred spirit.

Goalkeepers
1 - GK - Medusa Strand (Image Chromatik) - Age 28 - 46 caps, 22 clean sheets
A steady, focused personality, or perhaps no personality at all. Strand is a superb shot-stopper who did not let a few errors early in her career get her down, and the dividends have paid off. Her decisiveness coming off her line, command of her area and ability to sweep behind the defensive line have made her Cantor's preferred goalkeeper.

12 - GK - Toxothea Sebring (Image Crisisbless) - Age 27 - 13 caps, 4 clean sheets
A tall, graceful goalkeeper, with a slightly ungainly look disguising remarkable agility between the sticks. Has an oddly prowling gait. Her error-strewn Eagles Cup filled nobody with confidence, but she's not about to let that get her down; her club form has been excellent for years, and in the event of disaster she'll confidently step up to the task.

20 - GK - Chary Longstreet (Image CA Paulinthal) - Age 23 - 7 caps, 4 clean sheets
An excellent shot-stopper whose skillset lends itself to high-pressing sides who need pacy sweeping and good distribution - just like the Cormorants. Her sole issue is that she tends to argue a lot with everyone around her. It's quickly forgiven and forgotten... on her end, at least. Nevertheless, Arrowsmith has done excellently in the Eagles Cup and has more than earned her place in the team. Probably no longer Nephara's third-best goalkeeper, but here for the #vibes.

Defenders
2 - RB - Solblindi Rake (Image Sabrefell Moths) - Age 25 - 16 caps
A hard-bitten, tough-tackling rightback. Nominative determinism has made itself known; he's short and sturdy, and doesn't look like he should be as fast as he is. He combines brutalist challenges and stalwart defending with the ability to snap off magnificent crosses from nothing.

3 - LB - Radeka Lind (Image Jinja City FC) - Age 31 - 119 caps, 11 goals
WC87 Champion
Captain

Lind still looks somewhat coltish, but it belies her unerring eye for a challenge. It's Lind's unabashed love of taking the ball away from people that's her standout in a country that tends to like its fullbacks forward at every opportunity; Lind swings in a vicious cross, but her inherent caution is well-suited to the international game. By now, firmly established as one of the greatest defenders of the generation, and a universally respected captain.

5 - CB - Vetta Roback (Image Sabrefell Moths) - Age 25 - 17 caps
The first half-satyr - indeed, the first non-fullblooded human - to represent the national team, Clevinger essentially looks like a hulking 6'8" woman with blue skin and stubby, vestigial horns poking out of her scalp. Unsurprisingly, she's also the tallest person in Cormorants history. That's handy as a centre-half, and she's scored goals at the big tournaments. She's been a Cormorants stalwart for years, now, and has finally found a reliable partner in Scales.

6 - CB - Anaximander Scales (Image Brinemouth) - Age 27 - 81 caps, 4 goals
An absolutely massive, bruising defender, Scales' ability to bulldoze and bully forwards without ever quite fouling them is genuinely remarkable. He's not going to set any records for pace - most likely, he'd struggle to catch up to your average pitch invader - but with his effortless calm, maturity and gift for correct anticipation, he's thus far proven the worthy central defensive partner Clevinger has been crying out for for years.

17 - RB / LB - Kyri Levering (Image Northern Union) - Age 27 - 45 caps, 3 goals
An absolutely electric fullback who loves racing forward with the wind in her sails. Is she quite at the highest level defensively? No, and she wouldn't pretend she is. But she's right up there with the best at opening up defences, intelligent overlapping runs and low, sweeping crosses that leave her fellow defenders no easy answers. The defensive side of her game has come a long way in a short time in Brenecia, where she's also been forced onto the right side, making best use of her two-footedness.

18 - CB - Sven Copperhead (Image Crisisbless) - Age 28 - 42 caps, 2 goals
An earnest bruiser, Copperhead's massive but deceptively fast. He loves defending, getting stuck in and smashing people; a little impetuous for international level, perhaps, but if you need a man to stick his head in front of a shot, he's there.

22 - CB - Ettard Mitteager (Image AFC Treason) - Age 26 - 16 caps
Hard-bitten but with a soft touch on the ball, Mitteager has quietly stepped up as one of the most reliable Nepharan defenders out there. Never flashy, and notoriously introverted off the pitch, which has perhaps lead to her being underestimated over the years. But you'll notice, players - especially opposing strikers - always rate her highly.

25 - LB - Tanith Xu (Image Myana) - Age 23 - 35 caps, 2 goals
Seen as Nephara's best up-and-coming defender, hatchet-faced Xu's severe affect and features lend her an aura of authority well beyond her years. She's a jack of all trades, able to drop into midfield, bolt on the overlap and properly defend equally well, and her razor-sharp intelligence means she can make the most of that versatility.

Midfielders
4 - HM - Cassander Southsea (Image Brinemouth) - Age 26 - 55 caps, 2 goals
An intelligent, metronomic midfielder with a dazzling passing range, but also an assertive tackler who can firmly wrest the ball off opponents while reliably not drawing the foul. Southsea can be pretty much anything you'd want out of either midfielder in a double pivot, far more than the water carrier his name seems to imply.

8 - CM - Renate March (Image Herzegovina City FC) - Age 29 - 65 caps, 13 goals
March has risen up the ranks from the lower leagues. Any purely technical player at that level will get the legs hacked under them, so March had to learn not just to be better than those around her, but quicker, harder and nastier, too. She's taken these lessons to heart even as her career has blossomed. Cantor doubted her at the outset, for whatever reason, but it turns out nobody can tie together the midfield like she can.

15 - HM - Demeter Constantine (Image Crisisbless) - Age 27 - 51 caps
A very odd case. An immensely promising box-to-box midfielder from an early age, her form for country never quite reached her billing, and her club form fell off a cliff. Clearly needed a reboot, and got one in the unforgiving environment of Eura. Cantor tried to rehabilitate her, and succeeded partway, but she lost her starting place to March. There's still room for a redemption arc...

19 - HM - Chandra Rosziter (Image Dynamo Sjoedrhavn) - Age 23 - 22 caps
Tall and powerful, Rosziter locks down the centre of the pitch with wandering elbows, a commandable aggression out of possession and an underrated passing range with the ball. Some defensive midfielders go unnoticed, even when they're doing a good job. Not Rosziter, whose approach demands a warning klaxon.

23 - CM / AM - Kurtis Swainsona (Image Revolutionaries) - Age 24 - 20 caps, 4 goals
A tough, all-action midfielder who excels at brawling and late goalscoring arrivals into the box. He's not the most flashy technician by any stretch but he always makes his mark felt, and has proven very effective for Nephara between the lines, using his brawn and brain to good effect while also pressing hard more than a traditional playmaker.

24 - CM - Bellona Sebold (Image Crisisbless) - Age 24 - 22 caps, 3 goals
A clean-heeled technician with a silky touch. Everything Sebold does - passes, shots, tackles, even tactical fouls - is just clean. Not the kind of figure who changes a game by chugging about butchering people, but rather a figure who excels at being the ultimate cog in a clicking machine.

26 - AM - Lindse Kvasina (Image Istria City FC) - Age 28 - 67 caps, 17 goals
Kvasina's arrogant even by Nepharan standards, a diva reputation backed up by an ample supply of talent, guts and graft. She's hard work off the pitch, but at least she'll work hard on it. Even if she didn't, though, her natural poise on the ball and talent for improvisation would make up for it all. Poses far more of a risk off the pitch than on it.

Forwards
7 - RW - Kestrel Anharbour (Image Crisisbless) - Age 26 - 64 caps, 12 goals
Lightning-quick, two-footed and direct, Anharbour's not the most orthodox winger; she wants to use her physical and technical gifts to get inside fullbacks and cause damage. A cheerful sort who doesn't let much get her down, Anharbour just obviously really loves to play the game, and it shows and enriches her play.

9 - ST - Vasya Reisinger (Image West Cuono United) - Age 29 - 23 caps, 8 goals
A hulking powerhouse, attractive in an Amazonian kind of way, and the kind of person who believes in a type-A personality and specifically that she possesses one. Cantor's preferred muscular spearhead, and while her role in this squad is undeniably as a Plan B, her effectiveness is just as apparent.

10 - ST - Bravura Harper (Image Ulsa) - Age 28 - 67 caps, 34 goals
A brash, swaggering striker, Harper loves taking on first-time shots, and her hammer of a left boot ensures that isn't a waste of a chance. Backs herself to get on the scoresheet, sets herself high expectations, and reliably meets them. She's relentlessly single-minded in pursuit of perfection, and doesn't really have any interests outside football. But evaluated as a footballer, not a dinner companion, you won't find fault.

11 - LW - Arachne Loeher (Image Stahlburg City) - Age 23 - 48 caps, 9 goals
Loeher's what's known in Nephara as an 'asphalt footballer'. Quick on her feet, but more nimble in the tight spaces than pacy on an open stretch of plain. She likes sending others to the cold, hard ground, but has got an inhuman reflex at skipping over challenges that would send her tumbling and skin her knees. Streetwise, creative, and going from strength to strength.

13 - RW / AM - Madita Brewer (Image Northern Union) - Age 23 - 47 caps, 13 goals
Brewer's origins are curious; she's from an off-the-grid community in the Laith, but fortunately was able to step out into the world of running water and wi-fi connections long enough for her brilliance to get noted and picked up by a club. Originally developed as a pure playmaker, Brewer's bright and coachable, picked up new positions eagerly, and can play across most midfield roles or up front. That versatility helps her no matter where she's positioned, and she can be dangerous from anywhere on the pitch.

14 - ST - Konrad Balmoral (Image Aries Chariots) - Age 26 - 8 caps, 1 goal
An intelligent, all-round forward who has been used sparingly by Cantor, and perhaps doesn't quite have that ruthless streak of a top striker. Still, he's in the squad for a reason, and more than happy with his place in the whole.

16 - LW - Xanthe Hauser (Image Crossroads) - Age 27 - 18 caps, 2 goals
Hauser's fast, but not as fast as most top wingers. She makes up for it by being two-footed, unpredictable and with the stamina to go her (not quite impressive) top speed the whole 90 minutes. Not a conventional player, but an effective one.

21 - ST - Felixe Vetiver (Image 1830 Cathair) - Age 22 - 52 caps, 35 goals
Vetiver is lightning-fast, entirely two-footed, ruthless in front of goal and absolutely fearless. She's got a fine first touch and links up play well, with intelligent, mature movement. She's stronger than she looks, though no powerhouse. Strong mentality, no serious issues off the pitch apart from a generally taciturn, cynical nature. And after scoring six goals in four World Cup games, at nineteen... it's safe to say Vetiver's a generational talent. Nepharim look at her and lick their lips, thinking of World Cups. Teenagers don't tend to break through in Nephara, getting eased into the team picture. Vetiver disagreed, and has reliably swept awards in the National League since her arrival at Cathair.

Derdriu Wright clings to her job by a thread. Anything short of a return to the World Cup will be the end for her. It's rare for Brenecia to underachieve given their personnel, but they've been really underwhelming over the past couple of years, and they need to get back to the top table. The failure of any striker to really stamp their authority on the team has crippled them, but an endemic lack of creativity in the centre stalled them, too, the team overreliant on their wings. This reinvention from Wright is the last roll of the dice.

It wasn't enough for her, but Brenecia were barely able to claw their way into playoff contention under the bloody-minded Erin Camden, a manager with a wealth of experience at the top level finally taking the job after rejecting the post countless times in the past. There's some hope that a tough, disciplined Brenecia might just bloody a few noses.

First Team and Tactics
Image
Raised on lumpy grass pitches, waterlogged and potholed, Brenecian footballers tend to grow physical, disciplined and tough to break down, and this iteration of the national pool is no exception. The Patriots are an athletic, muscular side with plenty of pace and power, with two unpredictable, top-class wingers in Byrne and Wake who are given plenty of freedom so long as they do their work in pressing high. Camden is a loyalist at heart and rarely differs from the blueprint, but knows when the time is right to shake things up tactically or in terms of personnel, and her defensive drilling is exceptional.

Too predictable in the old 4-4-2, Brenecia have shifted to a front three in order to let the creative talent of Lienke Covolan back into the side, a sullen and bitter Nephar who disliked former manager Wright personally but responds well to Camden and to her other Nepharan brethren (Kearney, Jeong and Alderwood). This is a physical Brenecia side but, Lofthouse and the centre-halves aside, not an overly tall one; they'll look to exploit pace on the counter more than slinging in high balls. They aren't interested in holding onto possession, and are more comfortable letting the opposition overreach and taking advantage.

Common Substitutes
- Lofthouse will often replace Stokes late in games, with an advantage in height and raw physicality; she may even start when Brenecia expect to have almost none of the ball, against teams like Farfadillis
- Marietta Briggs will often be booked, and Tamara Seager will come on where necessary to help shore up the defence.
- The wingers have to do a lot of running, so Alderwood and Wakering, while some degree below the standards of their replacements, will be common sights late in games. Wright will try to keep Byrne and Wake on the pitch until they're exhausted, though.
- Rajmund Sitko will often come on for Iseult Conway in matches where more finesse is required in midfield, while Bede Cheschon offers more defensive solidity and Alyce Kearney more drive. Cheschon replacing Covolan is the most park-the-bus substitution that retains the initial formation, while replacing Covolan with Seager may signal a move to a defensive 4-2-3-1 that aims to retain a lead over a stronger opponent.

Staff
Manager - Erin Camden - Age 61
Asst. Manager - Hendry Jackson - Age 53

A midfielder of some quality, Camden earned 93 caps for Brenecia and captained them in her playing days, but has earned most of her renown as one of world football's most serial winners, first with Northern Union and then with AFC Treason. She builds dynasties through discipline, rigidity, experience and cynicism, and it's a common sight for her former players to profess an undying loyalty to her. She's turned down the Patriots job plenty of times in the past, but now, at 61, she recognises the time is right.

Goalkeepers
1 - GK - Cessair Meade (Image Rammsissil) - Age 24 - 21 caps, 7 clean sheets
Tall, athletic and reliable, Meade might be the pick of the slim bunch of up-and-coming Brenecian stoppers. Seeing a neverending wave of hotshot foreign goalkeepers arrive at Kingsgrove, she felt she had to leave to make a name for herself, but the club's still left its mark on her as a high-sweeping shot-stopper with excellent distribution.

12 - GK - Phoebe Corder (Image Ituraitz FC) - Age 30 - 33 caps, 20 clean sheets
Corder's first eight caps were followed by clean sheets, and though she hasn't managed to stay quite so imperious (and many of those matches were against minnows), her cult hero status is assured.

20 - GK - Sorcha Tanner (Image Southern Star) - Age 31 - 42 caps, 17 clean sheets
A strong and well-balanced goalkeeper, commanding in the air and rarely erring. She's not a top-class goalkeeper, as Brenecia had become used to with Woodgate and Wright, but she's consistent. Spent some time in exile from the national team.

Defenders
2 - RB - Aine Cooper (Image Rozelle) - Age 24 - 7 caps
A light-footed and intelligent fullback.

3 - LB - Nimue Culpepper (Image Sabrefell Athletic) - Age 28 - 69 caps, 2 goals
Culpepper looks strangely weathered, a lot older than her years, and perhaps that makes sense. Her best attributes are her sense of anticipation and her intelligence, which extend her fair-but-indifferent physicality and technique as far as they can go.

5 - CB - Athelney Shrine (Image Falourr) - Age 30 - 87 caps, 3 goals
One of Brenecia's many rock-solid defenders, Shrine's about as fast a sprinter as an actual shrine. Fortunately, her instincts rarely guide her astray, and she's an oasis of calm no matter the pressure, both in and out of possession.

6 - CB - Hamish Jeong Harcourt (Image Vermillion Rage) - Age 22 - 13 caps, 1 goal
The son of iconic Quebecois centre-half Hye-Min Jeong, born and raised in Nephara, almost nobody in Brenecia expected Jeong to declare for the Patriots; nevertheless, this has happened, and early signs are that Jeong could be a mainstay in the Patriots' back line for a decade. Calm and intelligent on the ball, uncompromising in the tackle, fast in recovery.

17 - RB - Caomhin Hadley (Image Sabrefell Athletic) - Age 25 - 50 caps, 1 goal
A hard-bitten, tough-tackling but above all painfully disciplined fullback. Plays with a maturity belying his years.

18 - CB - Ruadri Wheater (Image Carsby) - Age 24 - 14 caps, 1 goal
A brutish powerhouse, Killen always lumbers a little faster than people expect. Kind of like a starving crocodile. It makes him an undeniably effective defender, though he does tend to give away a lot of penalties, and probably one of these days will end up scaring a midfielder to death.

22 - CB - Iucharba Killen (Image North Laithland) - Age 30 - 63 caps, 8 goals
A journeyman brawler who just can't be put down for long.

25 - LB - Shara Chalk (Image Southern Star) - Age 24 - 8 caps
An intelligent attacking fullback who had an unconventional breakthrough as a player but has parlayed it into becoming a mainstay for a Star side challenging at the top of Brenecia. Somewhat lightweight defensively, but otherwise well-rounded.

Midfielders
4 - HM - Skaidrina Briggs (Image AC Izotz Zubia) - Age 28 - 60 caps
A tough, taciturn midfielder who has proven reliable where called upon. Tall, powerful and strong in the tackle, Briggs has a rash, youthful physicality and a tendency to see picking up a caution as indication of a job well done. Has enjoyed a remarkable consistency in a blue shirt, and is one of the few Brenecians playing for a top club, albeit in a squad role.

8 - CM - Iseult Conway (Image Wirr Tsi) - Age 30 - 112 caps, 15 goals - Captain
Quick-witted, quick-footed, and always with a smile on her face. Conway is an unflashy but diligent box-to-box shuttler with a hint of the unpredictable, and excels at bringing the ball forward between the lines. Fouls a lot, and always seems to get away with it. Without ever being an obviously exceptional talent, Conway's a centurion for her country and a mainstay for a top club.

11 - CM / AM - Lienke Covolan (Image Vermillion Rage) - Age 28 - 63 caps, 23 goals
Covolan played for Brenecia before ever setting foot in the country, but it's okay, because she's a potentially important player for the Patriots. A clever, two-footed and creative player, the rangy, arrogant, standoffish and blatantly Nepharan Covolan might be exactly what the Patriots have needed for years.

14 - DM / CM - Bede Cheschon (Image Kingsbury United) - Age 23 - 12 caps, 1 goal
A versatile and disciplined midfielder; one of Camden's favourites, someone she sees herself in.

19 - HM - Tamara Seager (Image FK Arsika) - Age 27 - 37 caps, 2 goals
A hard-working water-carrier, but with a bit of something extra about her that just elevates her above the level of so many other Brenecian players of the same archetype. She'll absolutely break a leg if needed, though.

23 - CM - Rajmund Sitko (Image West Couno United) - Age 26 - 39 caps, 6 goals
One of the more promising of this upcoming generation of Brenecian talent, Sitko's not notably physical, but just has that quiet presence of mind and always goes looking for the ball. The kind of player analysts love and casuals don't see the point in and wonder why the team works better with him than without.

24 - CM - Alyce Kearney (Image Southfell United) - Age 24 - 7 caps, 2 goals
Another of the Nepharan legion, Kearney's buy-in is contingent on Camden's presence at the top. A fearless midfielder with impeccable close control and an intense, focused personality.

26 - AM - Alaoise Rourke (Image Litala '93) - Age 20 - 1 cap
An enigma...

Forwards
7 - RW - Aneurin Wakering (Image CS Saint-Rémy) - Age 23 - 5 caps
A gangly, coltish winger with a deceptive change of pace. Glides past defenders.

9 - ST - Siobhan Baker (Image Anomalies) - Age 30 - 33 caps, 8 goals
A late bolter into the squad, Baker was playing in the Nepharan third tier for much of her career before blazing into life in Chromatika. She's the kind of player who proves that an eye for goal can translate from near any level, but tireless work ethic and excellent fitness mean she reliably gets in good positions.

10 - LW - Katua Byrne (Image KT Itzalovalle) - Age 27 - 124 caps, 38 goals
Byrne's got it all. Top-class pace, fully two-footed, even relishes defensive work pressing high. She's going to go far, and she knows it, forcing a move to Audioslavia to get away from pockmarked Brenecian pitches. But after spending a long time at Itzi, has her career perhaps stalled?

13 - ST - Mor-Rioghain Stokes (Image Mountainside) - Age 25 - 45 caps, 18 goals
Stokes was considered good enough that the MiCF project, a rare case of a tail wagging a dog, decided to near-bankrupt the side trying to get Stokes on the nominally male-only league. She has the air of someone mystified she isn't one of the world's best.

15 - RW / LW - Maerhen Wake (Image 1830 Cathair) - Age 25 - 75 caps, 22 goals
A muscular powerhouse who bristles with coiled energy, menace and malice. Wake's not the best-liked in the dressing room - he's always come across a bit as the kind of man who laughs when old ladies fall over on the street - but he's a cold model professional who always looks to make an impact. At present, he's the side's obvious star.

16 - LW - Irina Alderwood (Image Sabrefell Moths) - Age 24 - 16 caps, 3 goals
An effective, athletic winger who lacks a real X-Factor; not a shining talent, but rather a player who has made it close to the top of the game through hard work and a relentless drive. Qualifies for Brenecia through ancestry.

21 - ST - Jadwiga Lofthouse (Image Yassaca) - Age 28 - 90 caps, 33 goals
Generally, when Union want a player, they just get one. So when a local rises through the ranks to break through, especially in a key position and at a young age, Brenecians take notice. A towering juggernaut, Lofthouse is certainly old-school but undeniably effective, and excels at helping bring others into play.

24 - ST - Cyprian Korsak (Image Kingsgrove) - Age 26 - 6 caps
A spare striker with a good strike rate in Brenecia. Might have been more prominent in another era.

Manager: Kate DiMarini. Originally from Baker Park and an assistant to the national team there, then of Trebuchet Cham. Named interim manager halfway through WC87 qualifiers, and permanent manager at the start of WC88. Led Zwangzug to the World Cup 92 championship!

Thanks to Ko-oren for the three-trait summary approach.

Goalkeepers:
1. Ketevan Igreli (Keppal Cosmos) (f) (first tournament: WC89 Q) withdrawn, wiry, wizard
12. Helen Pimbura (Canbix Muses) (f) (first tournament: WC88 Q) "snakelike," efficient, crowd-pleaser
23. Shlomo Eustace (Bassabook Old Boys) (m) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 14) burly, hard-luck, self-deprecating
24. Soumini Bano-Patil (Namiri Forest) (m) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 14) studious, humble, mercenary

Defenders:
2. Meghna Imomenba (Namiri Forest) (f) (1 goal) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 13) physical, patient, follower
3. Freda Tery-Wilf (Eintracht Trink) (f) (2 goals) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 14) fast, conflict-averse, chatty
4. Cynthia Fairfax-Hazy (Arlington City) (f) (1 goal) (first tournament: CoH 80) distractible, slender, workhorse
5. Kirsten Jackson (Twineur Bugs) (f) (2 goals) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 12) [captain] disciplined, reticent, experimentalist
13. Meredith Ryland (Arlington City) (f) (first tournament: WC92 Q) clear-sighted, slow-footed, good at throw-ins
14. Nina Irving (Canbix Muses) (f) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 14) enthusiastic, fit, supportive
15. Nilkanth Mibang (Namiri Forest) (m) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 13) potty-mouthed, tall, mildly separatist
16. Ashley Fillmore-Gaul (Spenson Suburbia) (f) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 14) blunt, dogged, faithful
25. Pia Leykauf (FTC United) (f) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 12) energetic, wanderer, intimidating

Midfielders:
6. Evan Dewey (Trebuchet Cham) (m) (3 goals) (first tournament: Eagles Club 14) deceptive, insecure, muscular
7. Lukas Helsen-Roan (Ephesian FC) (m) (7 goals) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 12) adaptable, high endurance, rarely fouls
8. Jordan McKinney (Spenson Suburbia) (m) (first tournament: WC92 Q) genial, talkative, frequently out-of-bounds
9. Cixin Nguyen (Chromatik, Chromatika) (m) (8 goals) (first tournament: WC90 Q) self-assured, adventurous, book-smart
10. Farrokh Sokhi (Namiri Forest) (m) (18 goals) (first tournament: CoH 80) reliable, nimble, creative
17. Sofya Turmal-Hence (Keppal Cosmos) (f) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 15) passive-agressive, good finisher, skeptical
18. Julia MacEacharna (Bassabook Old Boys) (f) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 15) musical, charismatic, can be lazy
19. Chester Hildegard (Arlington City) (m) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 15) boisterous, cocksure, informed
20. Saroj Kinnar (Rovers United) (f) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 15) cosmopolitan, high-fitness, good at headers
21. Jude McWaler (Keppal Cosmos) (m) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 15) ambitious, optimistic, hustler

Forwards:
11. Ryota Imamura (Eintracht Trink) (m) (7 goals) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 14) sometimes selfish, short, unruffleable
22. Valerie Waugh (102d Jr.s) (f) (32 goals) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 11) level-headed, pragmatist, uncomplaining
26. Stephen Marcus (Ephesian FC) (m) (first tournament: Eagles Cup 15) clever, against-the-run-of-play tactics, prematurely bald

Numbers 1-11 are the most likely starting eleven, and 24-26 less likely to see playing time unless there are injuries, but do whatever.

Zwangzug officially have no nickname, but are increasingly likely to respond to "Zebras" from other teams' fans (this is the official name of their baseball national team).

If RPing first, please feel free to name goalscorers, injure, and distribute cards to my players at will! You can also godmod events, though I'd appreciate advance warning if you want to take narrative liberties that I couldn't just as easily do to your team (due to being, e.g., a mostly-MT, mostly-human country). Put another way, metaphorical "godmodding" is welcome if clever, but I'd avoid the literal sense. Also, do not cause lasting harm in my country and/or to my citizens without contacting me first.

Cup of Harmony roster

Astigui h'Actaegui, Votte Aeráyer! // By might and by right, Forwards, Airannians!

As the final goodbye of Aerá legend Nicklas Brodan, the team managed an impressive 3rd place finish - and since then, a replacement for him has been selected, who in turn has selected the players to represent Airannia in the slew of international matches coming up: Azayo jCarvên. As the previous coach for the Hmalan team (see here for additional information on Airannian administrative layout), he has an impressive track record, though this will most likely be the height of his career thus far. Most of the players who will represent the nation were also present in Mertagne, though jCarvên has made certain alterations, especially in the apparent playstyle.

Nation: Aerágny / Airannia
Trigramme: AER
Demonym: Aerá / Airannian
Colours: Dark blue primary, yellow secondary
Nickname: The Drills
Coach: Azayo jCarvên
Captain: Sam Allbhy
Formation: 4-4-2
Style mod: +2.5

Goalkeepers

#1 - GK - Odês Victorya éys, 33, from Image Fort Loucas - Current team: Image Téselqut Ékneyer
#12 - GK - Stergauce ja Dony, 26, from Image Ascuny roi - Current team: Image QÉS
#30 - GK - Carm Géligne, 27, from Image Brábal - Current team: Image Lydia FCCL

After a very impressive performance during the Baptism of Fire, Stergauce ja Dony earned himself... a spot on the bench. Instead, Odês Victorya éys will be guarding the goal. Comparing the two goalkeepers is hard, as both are titans in their respective competitions. There's no doubt that the difference was made by all the experience Azayo jCarvên has had with Victorya éys in the past; as he's undisputed on the Hmalan national team, the previous job of jCarvên.
Defense

#2 - LB - Viveró Décibeq, 29, from Image Téselqut - Current team: Image Rotoro GVG
#3 - CB - Só Kezhinár, 30, from Image Klujo - Current team: Image Lydia FCCL
#4 - CB - Gérand Brassa, 26, from Image Catsfér - Current team: Image Manáno
#5 - RB - Çontre Colminge, 22, from Image Camádrigne - Current team: Image NV Brotoque
#13 - LB - Uillten Tillabois, 24, from Image Charilly - Current team: Image NV Brotoque
#14 - CB - Férex Pélie, 23, from Image Glyplexi - Current team: Image Lydia FCCL
#15 - CB - Elice Veure, 29, from Image Vorácy - Current team: Image Chestre
#16 - RB - Stéven Lédn, 22, from Image Vorácy - Current team: Image QÉS
#17 - RB - Ivi Ubetzher, 25, from Image Téselqut - Current team: Image DBWB

As the team moves from a formation with 3 defenders to one with 4 defenders, Brodan's terrific problem of having too many skilled defenders to field seems to be solved. Décibeq, Brassa, Kezhinár and Colminge each got a lot of minutes during the BoF - and convinced with their strong interventions. Notably, this includes Colminge, who is a young buck on the squad, where it seems that jCarvên has often selected more experienced, older players for his iteration of the team.
Midfield

#6 - LM - Marcell Choréls, 32, from Image Obheçendus - Current team: Image VVV
#7 - CDM - Sam Allbhy, 30, from Image Sequitya drábandey - Current team: Image CLFS
#8 - CAM - Touz Budd, 28, from Image Klujo - Current team: Image KGVic
#9 - RM - Bardeus Fichomcéls, 23, from Image Brotoque - Current team: Image Lydia FCCL
#18 - LM - Pelleç Vánu, 24, from Image Jourfanqi - Current team: Image Lydia FCCL
#19 - CDM - Renald Duponte, 28, from Image Eranesque - Current team: Image Brécelndomer FC
#20 - CAM - Galho Éram, 28, from Image Sanna Anna - Current team: Image Chestre
#21 - RM - Arton Seuny, 30, from Image Fortuna - Current team: Image Brécelndomer FC

Notably absent here is Eric Brittagny, the offensive midfielder who scored 4 during the BoF; who had a car accident and will not be returning to the field any time soon, if ever. In his place, Touz Budd, a freshman to the Airannian team, who is a mainstay on the Ajurti team for years already. Also do note that, with Fichomcéls on the right wing, it appears that the youngest players on the Aerá team are found on the right wing, with the left wing having more experienced veterans, such as Choréls. Bardeus Fichomcéls seems like he will commonly be replaced or substituted for Arton Seuny, who also took to the field a bit more during the Baptism of Fire. Another interesting thing to note: Duponte is the first ever Relleboisian player to be chosen for the Airannian national team.
Offense

#10 - LS - Gary Goppré, 26, from Image Folmigna - Current team: Image Lydia FCCL
#11 - RS - Khriss Garyabh, 22, from Image Brécelndomer - Current team: Image Pyathora Mariners
#22 - LS - Lio Trofois, 26, from Image Chestrivil - Current team: Image QÉS
#23 - LS - Colman Umuitau, 31, from Image Justine - Current team: Image DBWB
#24 - RS - Jorzh Inder, 25, from Image Affatabv - Currrent team: Image Rotoro GVG

Goppré and Garyabh round out the team -- Goppré playing in a more offensive position, while Garyabh might also fall back. On the left, Lio Trofois and Colman Umuitau are two options to substitute in, depending on what the match might require - either Trofois' tactical play, with solid passes from the edge of the field, or Umuitau's hunger for the goal. Jorzh Inder, designated as the sub for Garyabh, is new to the team, and is known to be jCarvên's personal favourite after he became the #1 all time scorer for the Hmalan team last year.
A player being bolded indicates they can be expected to start on the field each match.

  • Elice Veure
  • Ivi Buetzher
  • Touz Budd
  • Renald Duponte
  • Jorzh Inder

  • Eric Brittagny
  • Jus Cospéricus
  • Pascale Gougissu
  • Évre Dorstam
  • Vidêm Barossinj

Airannia's home matches will be played in the Centerby stadion, in the capital city of Vorácy, the province of Sannpiérter, and the department of Vorácy, home to subtop national team Centerby. For visiting teams and their supporters alike, a private train shall be arranged between Illbádh Aerá-Vorácy station and Vorácy Bascop station; the latter is fitted with a "secret platform", to allow visiting teams to enter into the catacombs discreetly. Capacity: 36000

Understanding the Pool

The players numbered 1-11 would be considered the starting 11 if the cup started today. The players 12-24 would be backups. Every player behind them is competing for those 23 spots throughout qualification. When the team qualifies for the World Cup (or the Cup of Harmony, should they fall short) the pool will be cut down, and the numbers will be reassigned to the final squad. Throughout qualifying, starting rosters and the bench at each game will feature a different mix of players from the pool to determine the final roster.

Record (W-D-L): 8-4-6

Roaster:

Goalkeeper:

#01 Kalke Soraski

One of the most well rounded Keeper of Katterimunk, the man managed to grab the Golden Glove of Katterimunk's Liga Premera twice in a row. He even showed an amazing performance at the international stage conceding only 5 goals the entire tournament in 6 games, making him one of the best keepers in the tournament. The man, playing for the Premera Champs of the first season, he showed his prowess in both seasons.

#30 Aryank Borrakh

A replacement to the retired Shah Khalif, the Anceburn Keeper Aryank is arguably the best keeper in Liga Premera only behind Soraski. Banging 3 consecutive cleansheets in the league, one being against the offensive supergiant Vrord, Borrakh showed that he can carry Khalif's legacy forward.

Defenders:

#03 Ahan Khan - RB:

The Vrord star defender, Khan was great as a fullback controlling the defense as well as helping the attack at the wing upward. The man was a beast at keeping the attacking winger detached from the rest of the team, always on his toes to snatch the ball up causing a turnover. The man performed amazing from the right against most of the opposition, performing as the perfect replacement for Abhinav during his injury.

#15 Abhinav Shaha - RB

A more orthodox sideback, Shaha prefers to play along with the Centre back and defensive mid to trap the opposing player pressing them to commit mistakes or give up the possession completely. A speedy player, Abhinav is an amazing pressing player and along with his brother on the other end, he is capable of showing an amazing game throughout.

#04 Parukh Shayar - CB

The best defender of the season for Katterimunk, Shayar is capable of controlling the entire defensive line with good accuracy. His capability of keeping the line under control with proper pressuring and offside traps is just amazing. His offside traps were most effective in the games against Cyene where he managed to trap 3 offsides, one of which even managed to bang the net. It is hoped that he will also show his amazing game in this tourney as well.

#06 Shane Loesteen - CB:

A good defender, contrasting Shayar's cool and commanding demeanor, Loesteen is a hot headed sweeper clearing away most balls that come close to him. One of the most aggressive players, Loesteen has a high number of cards to his name.

#27 Vaibhav Shaha - LB

Brother to Abhinav, his game is quite similar to his brother. Yet he was, arguably, the weaker of the two, at least when it comes to international games. In the second season of Liga Premera, the two brothers managed to defend quite profusely for Chedo, but in the international games at Campionato, he failed to make an Impression with many board members even thinking of dropping the man.

#29 Ulter Akimov - LB

A pressing and physical player, the man can defeat any forward with his physical game. The man is the power of the team, defending like a boar. Yet he has one of the least fouls in the league. He proved his worth more in the Campionato, showing the opposition his physical strength with his powerful, yet seemingly legal tackles, saving many chances that helped carry the team to the Knockouts.

Midfielders:

#10 Garf Shinoda - CAM:

The one and only MVP, Garf is the brain of the team. The perfect Playmaker, can turn the tides of the game with perfectly timed and positioned pass that is guaranteed to go through and create a beautiful chance of scoring. Though most of the time his name does not come as his passes are mostly the 2nd Assist and hence his stats stay only in the back while his teammates shine. No wonder he is in here!

#17 Kesh Lal - CM:

Called the 'Golden Devil', Chedo midman Lal was a unique but deserved pick for the tournament. The man has shown his talent all throughout the season. His passing, his dribbling and his aggressiveness are all perfect and suited for the best mids. And even though he was not named the Mid of the year, he still is a strong talent on the squad.

#08 Rosul Arikovic - RM:

Arikovic was one of the few wingers that shined in the league last season. Having given perfectly timed crosses, he created multiple opportunities for the Xuvale strikers to score. And it is expected of him to give similar crosses to the Katteri forwards to score.

#20 Shane Robbs - RM:

The famed Robbs is the only player on this roaster that wasn't in the Premera the last season but rather was selected on the basis of his performance in the Youth Chamionship. He rumored to have signed a contract with Ipheburn, but nothing is confirmed by either the club or the player.

#07 Yuzman Aftar - LM:

The captain of the Ipheburn team and the national team, Aftar is a comparitively weak but highly agile player, capable of running through the field up and down helping in both offense and defense. And though his crosses are not as good as Arikovic's his speed and short passing make it up for it. Scoring the first international goal for Katterimunk, Aftar played amazingly throughout the cup, and continued his form through the Liga Premera giving Ipheburn their first title.

#18 Saloke Patrine - LM:

The left footed genius, Patrine was the spine of the Inaspolis team. The man playing with his quick speed and unpredictable shooting and passing capabilities with be a problem for the opposition to face. The man was named the best midfielder, and his play does keep up his name.

#21 San Kun Lee - CDM:

Called the 'Super Lee' by the fans, Kun Lee is the star of the Mando Club. The Vice-Captain, he is quick and fast making speedy plays to quickly move the ball up the field for scoring. Most of his plays are rather defensive letting the opposition keep the ball, only to find opportunities in the opposition's mistakes.

#08 Sohail Afroz - CDM:

One of the leading assisters in the first season, and the lead assister in the second season of Liga Premera, Afroz is to debut in the national team in one of the most prestigous tournaments in all of NS multiverse, the Baptism of fire. And with his most recent form as well as the team's record, it feels that Katterimunk is set to score record.

Forwards:

#22 Trish Khomov - ST:

The most well-known striker in all of the nation, Chedo striker Khomov won the Golden boot scoring 17 goals in 25 games and is a beast on the field. His amazing hat trick against Acrehull won the hearts of millions in the nation. His ability to finish and create chances on the field makes him able to switch between a Creator forward and a finishing striker on the field, making his plays unpredictable. Many deemed him unstoppable, including the Chedo Head coach Asimov, who stated that this man is here to create history.

#09 Isaac Lorenz - ST:

Isaac, the Vrord star and winner of the golden hat, had the highest number of assists in the 122 season. Called the "Flash of Football" by many Katteri, Isaac impresses scouts and coaches and antagonizes the opposing defenders with his quick movement on the field. Also, one of the best passers in the league, his chemistry with co-striker Donest is amazing, making them one of the best duo Liga Premera had ever seen, where many experts stated that the duo is destined to make history.

#24 Ankor Preistiv - CF: Star for the Inaspolis City, Ankor grew up in a poor background to rise up to stardom and become a star striker for Inaspolis. A well rounded CF, Ankor was named the Emerging Athlete of the year - the highest award won for athletics by Katterimunk athletes under the age of 18 - twice! Yet as he entered the league, he suffered an injury, causing him to miss a season and go out of form. In the first Liga Premera he performed well, but not good enough to get chance for the national team in the Campionato. But now as he showed improvement in the second season, he has been selected for the team

#19 Shoa Ahiko - LST:

The Ipheburn Creator was one of the most sought-after players in the league for his debut. Of course, he chose to stay in his home team of Ipheburn. Playing the left striker position, this man is a physical menace with amazing short and long passing skills as well as tremendously accurate shooting. The man was named forward of the year and is expected to be a starter.

Image

Atheara play something known as Keyakinan-ball.

The term is coined by some of the most trusted footballing experts there is, as the name comes from an ancient tongue that came from the world The Kingdom of Nordcalia - Gestova originally resided in (From a region that is only known by their name, Pulauan Tenggara). Translating it, the term essentially means trust-ball. Keyakinan-ball means flexibility, dynamical, and explosive upon the trigger that is fired. Keyakinan-ball is generally about mounting and holding off the attack and the pressure the enemy team waves at The Blue Guard, letting themselves get tired while Atheara doesn't waste as much stamina and energy. And once the opposition are worn down and exhausted to a certain degree, the team fires the trigger and initiates the counter attack. The goal could come from said counter attack, maybe a set piece or a free kick that was earned in the process, perhaps during a corner or a penalty kick.

The Blue Guard is all about standing on the defense, letting the opposition make mistakes while Atheara observes to find the opposition's weak spots and weaknesses. Let the opponent tire themselves out and lower their guard from trying to attack us, and when they get too exhausted, take the chance to strike immediately. It is extremely frustrating to play against and it might even be boring to watch, but all the beauty comes during the transition from clamping the enemy to entering the attack. Through balls, crosses, and beautiful passes that are complimented with a good part of the team charging forward knowing that they might be the next player to receive and push the ball forward. Atheara's a team that relies on speed, accuracy, efficiency and finesse rather than physical prowess, pure power or raw strength. The Blue Guard can match most teams when it comes to stamina and endurance. They not only rely on all of that, this team also relies on tactical advantage, team harmony, and chances being taken.

So if you want to beat us, you'll need to stay on guard, be patient, and have enough grit to survive whatever is suddenly thrown at you by The Blue Guard.

STADIUMS AND KITS
For this years World Cup Qualifying, Atheara will play it's home matches against lower pot teams in Schennerwits City's Schengen Stadium (60.000), while The Blue Guard will be playing their matches against higher potted teams within Astena Rangers' Astena Stadium (77.000). As for Atheara's kits, The Blue Guard will still be using the WCQ 92 kits that were supplied for their return onto the international footballing scene.

Team Cassadaigua- World Cup 93

Coach- Brittany Byers (61)
With Stephanie Sweeney now serving as the President of CASE, a new manager was needed for the Fillies for the first time since our return. Byers was the logical choice, since she had often been the backup national team manager, anyway. Has coached in the Copa Rushmori on multiple occasions, and was an assistant to Sweeney in World Cup 87, before being named the manager of the team prior to World Cup 88. Sure, there are some nations who would see a coach like this, and look at the recent run of Round of 16 exits and think that a change should be made, but CASE has never been like that. Byers is still the right person for the job. She scored her biggest coaching success recently when Cassadaigua won Copa Rushmori 40. Failing to qualify for World Cup 91 was a downer, but a third place effort in Cup of Harmony 83 made that a little easier to handle. CASE stuck with her, and despite being in a very tough group, the Fillies rebounded in World Cup 92 to qualify. As a player, the ex-defender played in World Cups 78 and 79, and was the captain of those teams. Also led Brattleboro FC to a national championship during her tenure there, but she no longer manages at the domestic level to focus on the national team. There are some rumors out there that Brittany might retire after this World Cup, but she has not personally confirmed or denied those rumors.

Assistant- Hannah Shanley (Starksville United) (50)
Starting defender from World Cups 80-83, and then served as a regular substitute in World Cup 84. Has served in this role since World Cup 85, and that includes while she was still active as a player for a little while. Some are beginning to think that Shanley might be a little too focused on the national team, given Starksville United’s struggles of late. Shanley has been a regular assistant of Byers, but did not serve as such in the Copa Rushmori 40 title run. Hannah comes into World Cup 93 fresh off a CSL championship with Starksville United. It is not necessarily a given that Hannah would take over the head coaching job if Byers did step down.

Starters in Green
Subs in Blue
Reserves in Red

Goalkeepers:
#20- Stacie Thornton (28) (New Lakeland Soccer Club)- Starter WC 92, CR 41 & 42, Sub WC 91, Reserve WC 90 & CR 40, Sub DBC 51
#31- Cynthia Kerr (31) (Victoriaville South End)- Starter WC 90 & 91, CR 40 &42; Sub WC 92, CR 38 & 39, Reserve WC 89, CR 37, Starter DBC 49
#30- Erica Knapp (22) (Concord Heights City)- International Debut

Stacie Thornton returned for her second World Cup as a starter. She had always been portrayed as the best keeper in the nation, but it took her a little longer than expected to grab the job from Cynthia Kerr. Cynthia still does a fine job, but Thornton's play with New Lakeland SC as well as in the Copa Rushmori allowed her to put a stranglehold on the starting job, which she is not relinquished. Her vision is fantastic, and is positionally sound. The nation is trying to develop a strong third goalkeeping option, and now Erica Knapp gets her turn. She's only expected to play in the event of injuries. Thornton will get most of the games, but manager Brittany Byers will get Kerr in a couple games to keep her sharp.

Defenders:
#4- Brianna Ward (29) (Victoriaville South End)- Starter WC 91 & 92, CR 40-42 & DBC 51, Sub CR 39
#2- Madison Rutland (27) (Starksville Coastal)- Starter WC 91 & 92, CR 40-42, DBC 51 & 52
#23- Alyssa Marlin (22) (Winchester City)- Sub CR 42
#6- Rachel Becker (23) (New Lakeland SC)- Starter CR 42, Sub WC 92, Reserve CR 41

#21- Hailey Meyer (26) (Kingston FC, Quebec)- Sub WC 92, Starter DBC 52 & CR 42
#28- Tiffany Brown (22) (Starksville Coastal)- Sub CR 42

#3- Amber Hogan (27) (Brattleboro FC)- Sub WC 91, Starter WC 92, CR 40, 41 & DBC 52, Reserve DBC 51
#24- Sarah Bayne (33) (Brattleboro Westside)- Starter DBC 49, CR 37-39; Sub WC 89-90 & CR 40, Reserve WC 88 & 91, 92 & CR 41 & 42

There may be a lot of mix and matching with this group. Ward and Rutland are the safest locks to be out there in pretty much every game, but the emergence of Alyssa Marlin over the last couple years as well as the strong play of Rachel Becker mean that they will get a chance to lock down long term starting roles. Rutland and Becker are the most physical of the group. It's a deep group, and both Hailey Meyer and Tiffany Brown will get chances to start. Former starter Amber Hogan may not start, but will be upgraded to a substitute role and get a fair amount of playing time. Bayne isn't here just to watch, either.

Midfielders:
#9- Morgan Rosenblatt (34) (AFC Treson, Nephara)- Starter WC 87-92, DBC 48 & 49, CR 36-39; 41 & 42 (TEAM CAPTAIN)
#25- Kelsey Werth (27) (Cednia Beach, Turori)- Starter WC 91 & 92, CR 40-42, DBC 52; Sub DBC 51
#8- Krystal Sherwin (29) (Northern Union, Brenecia)- Starter WC 90-92, DBC 51, CR 39-42

#37- Kaitlin Millikan (22) (Concord Heights City)- Sub CR 42, Reserve WC 92
#39- Jenna Stokley (22) (New Lakeland SC)- Reserve WC 92 & CR 42

#35- Marquis Miles (23) (Victoriaville City)- Sub WC 92 & CR 42, Reserve CR 41
#36- Tara Kriedel (33) (Starksville Coastal)- Starter WC 91, Sub WC 90 & 92 & CR 42, Reserve WC 88, 89 & CR 38, Starter DBC 49 & CR 39, 40

This is the weak link of the team. For whatever reason, Cassadagan soccer has not been able to produce high quality midfielders that could overtake the regulars here. That might be changing, as Millikan may become that player and help is clearly coming with the Engle twins. But it's too soon for them, and thus, we're left with this group again. Rosenblatt has been a superstar, and should be again. At 34, the team can't depend on her forever. Werth is good, but a tad inconsistent and probably would be better off in a substitute role. Sherwin's a good winger and finisher. Millikan, Stokley, and Miles all have the chance to prove themselves, and they will need too. Kriedel is a veteran workhorse, as seen by all of her experience.

Forwards:
#19- Chloe Anderson (25) (Montreal Koreana, Quebec)- Starter WC 92, CR 40-42 & DBC 51, Sub WC 90 & 91
#26- Rachel Boldin (26) (Victoriaville South End)- Starter WC 92, CR 40-42& DBC 51, Sub WC 90 & 91
#12- Carly Patterson (26) (Grande Mountain)- Starter CR 42, DBC 52, Sub WC 92, Reserve WC 91, CR 41

#29- Shannon Cunningham (19) (BT Ming, Chromatika)- Sub CR 42
#43- Lexi McGregor (20) (Starksville United)- Sub CR 42, Reserve WC 92

#27- Allyson Perry (25) (Winchester City)- Sub WC 92, CR 41, Starter DBC 52, Reserve WC 91 & CR 42
#34- Lacey Sherwood (20) (Rutland Dockside)- Reserve CR 42

There is no reason not to run it back with the same group we saw in the Copa Rushmori. This is clearly the strength of the team, and with that Byers will again utilize a base 4-3-3. Anderson and Boldin have played together so much now, they have amazing chemistry. Patterson will likely rotate as a starter with Lexi McGregor and Shannon Cunningham, with the highly outspoken McGregor being the first option.

For the first time since its multiversal debut, the Qasden Association Football Association (QAFA) has fallen into the 100s. To make it even saltier of a wound, it was the man who took us out of it all those years ago who would return the country to obscurity.

Despite initial hypes surrounding his managerial ascendency, former Olympic Nassau Bay midfielder and NT captain, Icarus Darsten, had flown too close to the sun before plummeting his reputation forever. It was all to gloryful to be forever, what with back-to-back semi-final appearances at AOCAF paving the way towards an ambitious World Cup journey and all. It was the dream of every Qad still paying attention to see the nation once again grace the swirly gates of the proper tournament since the era of David Bjarnasson. This dream was playfully toyed with, at first, earning mid table finishes in 90th and 91st qualifying cycles. Yet, in 92, after another deep run into AO knockout territory, the national team would sink to its worst ever showing at a World Cup Qualifiers in 15 playthroughs. A shoddy offense marred with a terrible addiction to preppy upsets up the wazoo caved in a horrific 9th place ending to one of the darkest ages of Qad football. Darsten would be sacked, shipped off to Schima Bas for a career in the unknown; Ryan Xandreas, his assistant manager and NT cohort, would also step down from his position to break the vicious cycle of sub-hereditary promotion. Cold and managerless, the country needed a hero and one fast. Thankfully, the wait wasn't long, and along came Darsten's original successor all that time ago to usurp him once again. Enter, the fiercest female to ever don the Blue and Red: Valentijn Munson.

Prior to promotion, Munson snaked her way around the backwaters of managerial operations, often being assigned to smaller national operations, like the Women's and U21 World Cups. This background jobhunt would provide a lucrative opportunity for 38-year-old, however, as her domineering tactics would help the Vans win the Jenna Raven Cup in her sideline debut, the first football title the nation had accrued since the 70th Cup of Harmony. The media went into a frenzy for the alleged return of greatness, accelerating regional spotlights on the domestic whereabouts of Munson's girls, some even garnering MVP awards abroad. The masterclass was on the board, and with no other suitor truly fit for the role, the keys were ultimately handed to Valentijn with one prerequisite: to snap the NT out of its funk. Firstly, a slightly refreshed NewVans would end up performing above the expected grade of play in AOCAF 63, finishing in the Quarter-Finals following a respectable loss to Squornshelan Remnant States. The wins on the way were massive in their own rights, of course, with the foie gras of the whole operation being an octofinal W over partial rival, Farfadillis.

Now, aided with the knowledge of top flight management, Munson and Hounders aim to finally, finally bring Qasden back to the level of respect they deserve. Can the Vans make their long-awaited return to the greatest show in the world on such short notice? Could Captain Orville deliver us a very respectable Cup of Harmony-worthy performance on the pitch? Or, perhaps, maybe one to bring fear again into qualifying titans? Stay tuned, stay updated, and stay alert for the future of Qad ambitions, right here, right now, at the World Cup 93 Qualifiers!

KPB: 7.68 (105th)
Style: +1
Preferred Formation: 4-4-2
Nicknames: The Vans | Calcio Calico | The Blue-Reds

Image Valentijn Munson
Age: 38|Position: Manager|Last Known Affiliation: Qasden NT
The new old face on the block, Valentijn Munson is ready to bring the 'greatest club to never be' to new heights. Her masterclass performance coaching the ever-beloved JRC2 squad to victory was one rang for the riches. The real question now, of course, can she do it again in the big dance itself?

Image Greg Hounders
Age: 56|Position: Assistant Manager|Last Known Affiliation: Qasden NT
An unknown to the in-front-of-the-scenes, Greg Hounders is a very-much appreciated asset to a tired team craving victory. A geek with numbers and a wiz with dated coding programs, the "Hound of Hardware" has been approached by QAFA for as long as one could never dream.

Image Zinnia Thurstan
Age: 29|Position: Goal Keeper|Last Known Affiliation: Hawthorne Kickers Image
No matter how many times they looked away, Thurstan can never, ever be stopped. Following her usurpation by Tommy Waluigi, Zinnia spent time working on and perfecting her rebuttal in the form of a dedicated career at Xanneria's Hawthorne Kickers. With Waluigi out of the picture, this Zimari-Era starter is looking to bring back her drifted spotlight on the big screen.

Substitute Goal Keepers
00- Cliff Rouge|25|Brenville Blue Image
99- Gaunting Norwood|23|WEA Image

Image Cameron Allan
Age: 22|Position: Defender|Last Known Affiliation: Brantisvogan Image
A younger face internally, Cameron Allan did his homework to bring his avant garde approach to defense back to the Blue and Red. Working ferociously with a strong Brantisvogan side, the young player now hopes to put everything he's got in making his name a staple in National Team trivia nights.

Image Aristide Quickley
Age: 30|Position: Defender|Last Known Affiliation: Blue Mountain Range Image
Quickley is an excellent fighter and tactic-savvy defender that's often sought out by newcomers for advice. He spent much of his early federal career on the bench, content with charity work instead of career play. Now going on multiple seasons with Astograthian Blue Mountain Range, however, Aristide's more than happy making his stride.
Image Cora Varnham
Age: 30|Position: Defender|Last Known Affiliation: Fallwich United Image
Skillful, fierce, and a smartass above all, Varnham was brought up from depths unknown and displays tremendous tenacity when it comes to letting opponents past her. She serves as a pivotal player in Zimari's push for a strong defense, and continued that heart-throbbing battlestance during her time at Nephara's Stahlburg City.
Image Khasan Kubo
Age: 26|Position: Defender|Last Known Affiliation: Columbia Image
Longtime backup bringing a fresh face to the frontline, the lovably adamant Khasan Kubo has studied up to the grand showcase itself with tactile maneuvering and assumingly eagle-eyed gameplay. While it may have took him time to find his footing, his stint with Cassadaigua's Columbia has tremendously helped honing his talents.

Substitute Defenders
5- Joanna Rigby|32|Clayquot City Image
39- Carl K. Umstroke|19|Perce Town Image
18- Sang-Hun Noel|22|Passerine Image
30- Fatime Desiree|19|Capitol City FC Image
3- Vance Justice|24|Dalton United FC Image

Image Michelle McCracken
Age: 30|Position: Midfielder|Last Known Affiliation: Brattleboro FC Image
Regarded as one of the most dominant controllers of the NewVans Era, McCracken was recruited as part of a shortlist of female players drafted by Sylvia Zimari and Valentijn Munson when developing the AOCAF 62 crew. Michelle's personality is professionally competitive, being quick to assert herself as the commanding individual on the field, gaining the latter's trust in her taking over as Team Captain. Her fire still burns as bright as ever, though it felt like a better time than ever to submit the Captaincy to another.
Image Shug De La Fontaine
Age: 32|Position: Midfielder|Last Known Affiliation: Loxthorpe Rovers FC Image
An old face of fortune, Shug was believed to be bench-fodder after the flares of his suave past began to fumble. Specifically to spite the naysayers, this suave sage of savagery found his way to re-dominate the Buzz League as part of top side Loxthorpe Rovers. Glad to see the smidgen of tomfoolery is still there, even if caked in copious amounts of age-acquired chill.

Image Genivieve Orville Image
Age: 27|Position: Midfielder|Last Known Affiliation: Aminey CS Image
A brilliant member of older Academy and Olympic squads, it was Orville's third adventure that would launch her career like never before. Genivieve's successful captainship at the 2nd Jenna Raven Cup, paired with a stellar performance at Bruul Skewers, ignited her legacy as she bursts through the headlines as Qasden's newest Captain.
Image Scottie Kaestre
Age: 28|Position: Midfielder|Last Known Affiliation: Shirley Metros Ladies FC Image
Despite much of the spotlights being on Munson and Orville, Kaestre quickly became a favorite among fans and national officials alike following her incroyable performance at the Jenna Raven Cup. Not even 2 seasons later, paired with an exceptional domestic performance at Mrii Wyvernscrest that awarded her the league's prestigious Polished Horn, Scottie Kaestre found herself at the forefront of the Starting XI. Off the pitch, she doesn't seem to interact all that much with her teammates, bar a handhold that one time.
Substitute Midfielders
15- Ronin Otero|19|Passerine Image
16- Marco Bruno|22|Sporting Ittuributa Image
9- Lor Starcutter|17|Kirkenes Image

Image Cloveria No'Bell
Age: 22|Position: Forward|Last Known Affiliation: Longwood Lionesses Image
The long-dreamed usurper of Ike Sexton has arrived. Cloveria No'Bell was a massive name in the UnderVans' DBC52 team, giving way to a career in Cassadaigua's top flight. While still fresh to the big side, the others on the squad are far from willing to abandon her, given the story of the boots she's about to overfill.

Image Jaylyn Bone
Age: 29|Position: Forward|Last Known Affiliation: Algolia Image
An attacking mainstay, Jaylyn was brought about as a prodigy from the eastern border town of Chevlin. For much of his time here, Bone served as part of a dynamic duo alongside fan favorite, Ike Sexton. Yet, with Sexton now being sidelined, who else will he be able to crack jokes with on the field?
Substitute Forwards

69- Ike Sexton|33|Emerald Coast Image
14- Devin Ruby|17|Pale City Image

Royal T.V. Stadium, T.V. City (95,000) - Adab & Graentfjall
Image
The one and only epicenter of the nation's athletics, "The Royal" is often regarded as a shining symbol of Qasden's fortunes (and misfortunes) in international competition, having held at least one match in every outdoors tournament hosted by the country. Swallowed in the heart of T.V. City, the capital and largest metroplex by far, the stadium is said to have been built during the early years of Qasden, though its original purpose may still be up in the air.

Stade de Solis, Fyre (70,500) - Gyatso-Kai & Ceni
Image
While less-so a national symbol, the Stade de Solis remains a firebrand choice in Qad sports, being the only venue able to challenge Royal's Finals record. Grounded in the "Denver" of Qasden (whatever that means), Fyre, the stadium was once believed to have been constructed for a long forgotten domestic league, though now it serves as the historic center of sports on the west side of the river.

Community Greens, Qad City (69,000) - Yue Zhou & Kirungabi
Image
The most recently refurbished of the lot, the once dull New Qad Stadium has evolved into a coliseum for all things local. Community Greens takes the outside shell of the Once Was and crams in all sorts of gadgets and gizmos to make its grounds once of the most high tech in the region. The populated area surrounding it, Qad City, is regarded as the largest city on the riverfront of Qasden's southern coast, though not too far off from TVC itself, leading some to assume it as half of the East Qasden Supermegapolis.

Merellin Park, Elder (55,000) - Natanians and Nosts, Talamia, & Canadian Dominion
Image
Found far from the coast, nestled deep within the farmlands of Inner Qasden, lies the humble Merellin Park. Named after a mysterious prince that once rumored to have found love in the town, the park serves as the hub for the Nord's sports, often competing for that title with rival settlement, Taxson. A large, but modest venue, Merellin Park is equipped with surprisingly modern flavors, including a shopping mall and miniature theme park just outside the pitch's walls.

Hotchskarth Cabin, Destiny (35,750) - Stevencousin & Dod Rava
Image
The smallest of the presented stadia, Hotchskarth Cabin found itself a staple in Qasden's "small-game" competitions, having been a perennial welcome-site for games against newer opponents and, most recently, the beloved and critically acclaimed Blunder Cup. It's beautiful halls greet attendees to the glitz and glamor not found in the city surrounding the place, Destiny, whose constant, one-sided desire to 1-up their neighbor, Fyre, led to the stadium's arrival in the first place.

The QasCup Charity Match is an organized friendly set up by the QAFA Kids Initiative, a non-profit organization tasked with accelerating interest and improving relations between the youth community and that thing their dads keep screaming at the tv for. The match will take hold following the halfway point of the qualifying campaign's main phase, allowing Qasden's National Team to have a less competitive, fun event to keep themselves active. The tournament will be heading southeast to the star studded metropolis by the bay, Qad City, with the winner taking home the vividly vibrant "Colorful Calico" trophy. QAFA and QAFAKI are currently underway looking for a suitable opponent to help support the cause. All interested parties are free to contact QAFA and QAFAKI promotional administrations for participation in the event, regardless of how football-prone they may be. We hope to see you there!

Kit credit (IC: Ferideia; OOC: Tikariot)

Team name: Græntfjall
Trigram: GRÆ [GRF when not available]
Demonym/adjective: Græntfjaller
Team nickname: Snow Wolves

Coach: Image Ingþór Auðbjörnsson
Assistant coach: Image Saxi Dómaldsson

For those who aren’t believers in nominative determinism, Thor seems a superficially unlikely pick for Snow Wolves coach, with an attacking philosophy and sophisticated approach somewhat at odds with the team’s history of producing lumpen BFG biffers. That said, his results are hard to argue with: a World Cup quarterfinal, two Copa Rushmori finals – one ending in victory, the other in a penalty shootout defeat – and most lustrous of all, an Eagl’e’s’ Cup win. It’s a set of accomplishments that will guarantee him a nice golden handshake but no more if he fails to live up to the now high expectations of a one humble footballing public this time around. Brought in, partly, because of his expected rapport with Jason Þórhallursson, now that the striker has aged out of the international pool, seeing how he brings through the next generation of talent will be his new challenge. Former U18 assistant manager Saxi Dómaldsson continues, impotently but inoffensively, as his assistant.

Squad: This is a longlist squad pool, from which each matchday a 26-person squad will be drawn. In practical terms, the player listed first at each position is most likely the starter, second the substitute, third and lower the non-playing reserve, etc. However, if I have not specified the squad or lineup, you may choose from this squad as you see fit in terms of RPing the team you play against. Græntfjaller teams usually start those wearing 1-11, except that Kamdyr players will wear 13/26, Vanessa 14 and Tinni 18 if they start.
  • Names. -son names are men, -dóttir names women, -bur named non-binary. Græntfjallers are comfortable having their first name used instead of their surnames, though there’s no consistent standard on this. Players without a patronymic surname are Kamdyr, members of a minority nomadic community; all of the Kamdyr in this squad happen to be women. Hanif is sometimes referred to as Hanif Anwar and Ayaan as Ayaan Kabir, and Hermione as Hermione Hui, in preference to their clunky forced patronymics.
  • Sex. The Græntfjaller Premier League is open and it is seen as uncontroversial for men and women to play alongside each other. If you find female players completely immersion breaking, you can ignore my female players, though I will no longer be using all-male teams as this proved too complicated.
  • Transfers. The financial status of football in Græntfjall is improving, and million+ NS$ contracts are increasingly common. But because the GPL isn’t especially strong, most NT players and hopefuls ply their trade abroad. I normally conduct transfers through the Transfer Window but if you have a desire to sign a player I am usually open to arranging a transfer outside that; send a TG/DM. I am particularly open to such deals when linked to an ongoing RP story.
  • Style of play. In general, Græntfjaller players are athletic and have excellent whole-match fitness, disciplined, and not prone to violence or emotional outbursts. They are, however, not tremendously skilled. A particular type of footballer, nicknamed “BFG” (Big Fucking Græntfjaller), is associated with the country, normally playing in roles such as center back, defensive midfielder, or center forward. The new crop of, predominantly though not exclusively, female central midfielders somewhat eschew this stereotype and there have been growing attempts to get more skilful players into the lineup, most notably Sara Kristoffersdóttir and Kæja Finnvarðsdóttir.
  • Captaincy. Sara Kristoffersdóttir has been named as permanent captain and is officially listed as the captain, but she is unlikely to be chosen every time. If I have not specified a captain, or you’re just feeling creative, you may pick someone else should you wish.
  • Timing. In my timeline this occurs 2 years after the last WC and 1 year after the CR. It occurs after TW37 and the IFCF games are over, and during the next international domestic season; players on foreign teams will be assumed to be given leave.
Goalkeepers
Björni’s back, baby, Björni’s back. At least for now. Mikkel – over six and a half feet and with enormous hands – may possess all the physical gifts, but his spell as #1 didn’t quite live up to its promise, and with World Cup qualifying on the line, Thor has turned back to Græntfjall’s most capped keeper. Björnólfur isn’t a perfect player by any stretch but he’s big, not completely incompetent with the ball at his feet, and can command his back line with more authority than some of the young pretenders angling for his job.

Defenders
Despite scoring the most iconic penalty in Græntfjaller history, Alyssia was perhaps on her way out, edged out by concerns about defensive frailty and Sigurbergur’s strong performances in Quebec, before rescuing her career with an impressive showing at the Copa Rushmori. A flightly wingback, she still works best when not forced too great a defensive load. On the left side Thor has been more ruthless, culling Jasmijn Spiderlair for her defensive failings and moving to the more solid – though occasionally injury prone – Jan. Behind him on the depth chart are some wingbacks, but with a centerback less able to cover on the left (and a desire to free up Sara of defensive duties further up the field) Jan’s superior defensive cover comes into play. Eyvar and Asbjørn are settling in as the first choice central defensive pairing, with Klængur a very good third option: Eyvar is short but strong as an ox and fiercely intelligent, a natural leader; Asbjørn is taller, stronger, harder edged. Klængur once lost a game of rock, paper, scissors... to an actual rock. But he is huge and bruising (and surprisingly kind off the field) so no one is going to start calling him names.

Midfielders

The midfield diamond is dead, long live the midfield three: a deep-lying holding player to mop up and spread the ball around, a creative attacking pivot, and in between, a bustling box-to-box workhorse. With Tinni at the heart of the midfield, the Snow Wolves moved away from the one-dimensional enforcers of old, but he’s increasingly faced injury issues and fitness concerns; in his place, Valtter fills in in a more traditional role. Danny is clearly a favorite of Thor’s, who likes his relentless pressing. Kæja is the best player in the team. She is, perhaps, one of the best in the world.

Attackers

Mímir and Röskvi, both classic big bodied goal scorers, competed for the #9 jersey post-Jason; Mímir appears to have won it. Thor has experimented with using both strikers but together they seem less than the some of their parts, and humiliating as it may be for one of the top scorers in arguably the most coveted league in the world, Röskvi is emerging as a better option off the bench as an impact sub. Whether one or both start, they will be flanked by Sara K, the enigmatic team captain, one of the stars of Wirr Tsi, one of the world’s best teams, and Vanessa, who is probably the most vulnerable starter with some excellent young prospects coming up behind her.

QUALIFYING POOL FOR WORLD CUP 93

ImageImage

INFORMATION

After a rogue Cenian FA member threw the Cenian national team forward in time 20 years in a vain attempt to remove archenemy Andrew Arrowsword from international contention, the Cenian football scene plummeted into disarray. The world-leading Terranean League disbanded, as did the Cenian national team itself. Many players continued plying their trade abroad, but a significant number also hung up their boots. Now that the forsaken team has returned, the Cenian FA reluctantly approved a return to World Cup competition. After a relatively successful WC campaign, and some political changes as well, the FA has grown more receptive to broader international competition, and it will attempt to qualify for the World Cup for a third time in the "post-portal era."

Manager: Image Luke Longstar (for now)

Luke Longstar has a long history as the Cenian NT's manager. After a disastrous World Cup 78 cycle, the Cenian NT replaced manager Elidyr Lyndanium with Longstar, fresh off a UICA Champions' Cup title with 1860 Azoth. Longstar immediately made his mark on the team with a winning record in a friendly tour and a semifinal appearance in the nation's first ever Copa Rushmori. In World Cup 79, which Ceni hosted, the team reached the quarterfinals, but unfortunately then returned to its perpetually unlucky ways in World Cup 80 with a shock loss to then-debutant Baker Park denying it a Round of 16 spot in the World Cup. And then the Portal Incident took place, sending Longstar and his team 20 years into the future, and a totally new era in football. Longstar is again at it, trying to pick up the pieces.

Ceni has always been an attacking side, although Longstar plays with perhaps a more restrained version of that model. Notably, the national team in the modern eras has never played with more than three defenders, although Longstar's specialty involves formations with one defensive midfielder to bolster the defense. As a corollary to that, Ceni's usual strategic mentality is to attack, attack, attack, usually with at least four attacking options along with two playmaking midfielders. Ceni does not usually play rough, but more cerebrally rather than anything else. The most likely way a Cenian will pick up a caution is arguing with a referee, probably over a very technical or minute section of the Code.

For scorination purposes, Ceni will play with a +3.777 style modifier this tournament.

For the first time in Ceni's footballing history, Longstar has adopted a pool approach for the qualifying tournament. Whether this is a full pool or just a "kiddie pool" is up for debate in the international press, however, as it only consists of 34 players to be considered for the 26-person squad that will be selected for each qualifying match. Despite a "default" and "next gen" starting lineups presented above, Longstar will likely take a mix-and-match approach, especially for lower stakes matches against teams in pots lower than Ceni's, so as to save the more experienced players for the higher-stakes matches. I will endeavor to post a starting lineup for the upcoming matches in each RP.

About Ceni
Ceni is a small island country of around 5500 km2 located in the eastern parts of the Rushmori region of Terranea. Although it has no land borders, the nearest countries are Electrum, from which it is separated in the west by a narrow strait, and the Isles of Avon, a small republic located to the east in the same island chain. With a population of just over 13 million, this makes Ceni one of the densest countries in Rushmore, at around 2360 people per sq km. Ceni is also one of the most urbanized countries in Rushmore, with the three major cities, Cenial, the capital, City Centre, and New Oxford, forming one large urban agglomeration, with the city petering out around the edges of the metropolis. Climate-wise, Ceni has a temperate oceanic climate, with the influence of the ocean helping to moderate both the summers and the winters - temperatures are almost never extreme either way, cold or hot.

Historically, Ceni was first settled by a group of people, ancestors of the Fereldan, who spoke a language, Ancient Cenian, that survives in many Cenian names and which is related to modern day Avaerilonian (the prevailing theory suggests that these people migrated from an area in New Gelderland, across a land bridge to Ceni, and then across to Avaerilon, where they settled later in time). The name Ceni itself comes from a corruption of an Ancient Cenian word for 'White Cliffs', which described the cliffs near the present day Dover. These people stayed in the area around Cenial for a while until a group of settlers from Eura arrived and settled in the southern half of Ceni, displacing some of these populations. A Spanish population from Valladares arrived and set up a colony in the north of Ceni, hoping to set up a port for the growing nation, but when the city of Junin was settled, these settlers were disappointed, nonetheless deciding to stay and send seafood to the Valladar communities as well as lobbying the government to set up a port in the north. These communities formed the backbone of a thriving Hispanic population in Ceni.

In the face of a rising Euran threat, these various colonies - the Fereldic population, the Spanish in the North, and Euran/Cenian mix in the South - decided to unify their solitary island in order to coordinate their defenses and reduce infighting. As the Euran threat died down, the Cenian government retooled its economy to provide services and goods to the growing Euran industrial economy while still remaining a bit on edge. As the economy bloomed, a group of Avaerilonian refugees settled in Ceni after escaping one of that country's long wars, establishing a Cenian tradition. These refugees contributed to Ceni's rising high-tech and service economy as the country moved into the 21st century.

Ceni's government is a parliamentary system with a one-chambered parliament, the Cenian Assembly, which has 235 representatives in it; the Prime Minister is the head of government, while a ceremonial President is the head of state. More locally, Ceni is divided into 14 districts, which serve to administer most of the government's services to the people and giving them local control, with a Chief Minister heading the government in each district; most districts have a District Council of either 7 or 9 councilpersons, headed by the Chief Minister. The Cenian people love their elections, with more than 80% turnout most times. Economically, Ceni has a large financial sector along with large pharmaceutical, high-tech, education, real estate sectors, and renewable energy sector. Ceni has a large GDP due to its proximity to Eura and the Euran economy and also a large GDP per capita, one of the largest in the region. Cenians enjoy a high standard of living as well as a large social welfare net and free education, courtesy of a Scandinavian-style liberal government.

MD 19 vs. Yuezhou Cenial Halcyon National Stadium Halcyon Park, Cenial 85,000
MD 22 vs. Graintfjall Bicentennial Stadium University Green, Cenial 75,000

The Cenial Halcyon National Stadium is located in the Halcyon Park in Cenial. With a capacity of 85,000, the stadium has an unique roof which is retractable in case of inclement weather, preserving the optimal climate for spectators inside the stadium; the stadium also has won plaudits from national team players who say the stadium is one of the best grass pitches they have played on. Built by the international firm Cityscapes Architecture and Construction, the stadium has connections to Cenial City Airport on Line D of the Metro and Cenial International Airport on Line C, transferring at Broadgreen Station.

When elected as the host of Baptism of Fire 63, the Cenian FA decided to upgrade some of the facilities at the stadium, including the press box and VIP box, as well as installing WiFi access for all seats, following the example of the Alexander I National Stadium. Notably in the history of the Cenial Halcyon Stadium, Ceni qualified for its first World Cup on the grounds of this pitch, defeating Gregoryisgodistan (now South Covello) on penalty kicks to qualify for its first ever World Cup. The Halcyon National Stadium counts itself as one of the greenest buildings in Ceni, making use of solar panels wherever possible, recycling water and heat through its system (so that water used to water the pitch can be used in the toilets, etc.), making use of recycled materials in constructions, and other eco-friendly measures to reduce its energy footprint.

Image
Designed especially for World Cup 76, the Bicentennial Stadium also was designed to celebrate Ceni's 200 years as a unified country, which managed to coincide with the World Cup. The stadium, which seats 75,000 people, is the epitome of modern stadium standards, with modern amenities and television screens along every corner. The stadium was designed with a modernist view in mind, with curving lines as well as interesting use of 3-D texture, and the seats inside being ergonomic and comfortable for viewers. The home of Phalanx AF, Bicentennial Stadium is located in the heart of the bustling city of Cenial, near the University Green and the location of several major Cenian universities, so the stadium is the favorite of many a college kid coming in to watch a game. The fact that this stadium could fit in the city center is a testament to Cenian urban engineers' prowess in getting the maximum out of every square meter of space.

Image
The Volatus Millenium Stadium is home to Ceni's (former) best club, Tir Snake Strike, and routinely draws its full capacity of just under 60,000. The stadium is known for its modern curves and structure designed with lots of glass and its 'high tech' appearance, earning the stadium its name of 'Millennium' - the stadium's design reminds people of a new era in stadium construction. The Millenium Stadium is very open to sunlight and has a great temperature when the conditions are just right. Nearby are the indoor tennis courts that host the Volatus Open, in the run-up to the Cenian Open. Again, the stadium is well-connected to public transport, but visitors coming from Cenial might have to spend a little bit of time getting to the stadium.

Image
Westgreen is an affluent, suburban Ceni on the western coast of Ceni. Built very recently to be the home of a Afanc Strait Superleague side and to upgrade football facilities outside the Metropolitan Tetrad, Westgreen Park Stadium is designed with the "park" designation in mind, featuring vertical gardens throughout the building and ring of trees between the stadium's outside and the pitch. It is even more sustainable than the Cenial Halcyon National Stadium, with net negative carbon emissions and solar panels on the roof.

Roster Explication (i.e. unhinged, unorganized rambling)
Ceni's roster contains a mix of veterans and newcomers. The veterans have had to reevaluate their place in international football after a relatively underwhelming transfer window: While players like Valaran, Onasi, and del Toro were previously used to playing at the pinnacle of international football on the domestic side, they're now playing for either domestic teams in the untouchable (in a bad sense) Afanc Strait Superleague or for minnows in foreign leagues. Out of this group, Marc-Andre Onasi has perhaps landed on his feet the most, playing a role in the Quebecois side Perce Town's run to the Challengers' Cup quarterfinals.

Perhaps the biggest shock has perhaps come for the younger players who were beginning to enter the peaks of their careers before the Portal Incident. Now, with sides the world over having selective memory for their performances 20 years ago, players like Sascha Falkenrath and Zane Kirchner have (reluctantly) decided to ply their trades at recently promoted sides in bigger leagues, even though they (most likely) won't see international club competition for the foreseeable future. But it seems like the boys may be back in town in Lexington, New Gelderland, where Avi Renning, Asher Koromin, and Marco Santa Oria — up-and-coming footballers before, and still up-and-coming footballers now, thankfully — form the backbone of the team. (And it's entirely possible that Koromin and Santa Oria will take del Toro and Onasi's places in the midfield more often than not.)

And then there are the younger players who are coming of age firmly in the post-Portal Incident era. This generation won the U-18 World Cup in Gortolekua in Ceni's first time of asking in that tournament, so the high expectations are on their shoulders. Jaina Beren and Vyn Voren look promising as a new backbone for the defense after two of Ceni's defensive stalwarts (Liam Lorechian and Miri Windtide) look poised to retire within the next cycle, perhaps portending a four-person Cenian defense at some point. Aidan Koromin is doing his family proud with a Golden Boot spell at Polaris, and Sebastian Ellex-Mar lit things up at Olympique de Rimouski in Quebec. In contrast to last season, where Longstar did not use these players a whole lot, Ellex-Mar and Koromin have become more and more integral to the team, and they can be expected to take part in major games as well as minor ones.

New Gelderland — National Football Team
Roster for World Cup 93 qualification

INFORMATION

Manager: Image Nicoletta Arnaudo

After a sabbatical in the Savigliano countryside, Arnaudo parlayed a title winning season at Stade-Ferre in Savigliane to a four-year stint at the Chromatik club Felswyr. But the club suffered poor results in its last season, Arnaudo took the job managing the New Gelderlish women's team, initially envisioned for just the Olympics. But after Arnaudo led the team to a surprising and unprecedented gold medal, beating heavy favourites Eura in the final, the New Gelderlish Football Federation will now play in the World Cup qualifiers and perhaps beyond (but not too far beyond). Arnaudo had the unenviable task of not having the team totally collapse against the high caliber of opposition like it did in the Eagles' Cup, and she actually rose to meet the challenge: as an unranked side, the team held a playoff position for a good chunk of its qualifying group, finishing fourth. It now hopes to replicate (and perhaps exceed) its stunning performance in World Cup 93.

For purposes of scorination, New Gelderland will use a -2 style modifier.

Equipped with a youngish team, playing almost entirely domestically within the Afanc Strait Superleague, manager Arnaudo has her work cut out for her against the multiverse's top teams. They've only had one tournament together, and while explicit conflicts have yet to surface, Arnaudo feels that the team's chemistry isn't all that it's cracked up to be. And with no players in the neighboring top leagues of Nephara or Eura, they have little experience playing against the quality opposition that characterizes the Eagle's Cup and the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Georgia Calder will anchor the team's defense alongside left back Zorina Engstrom, playing a mentoring role to the inexperienced Electra Villin-Sallow and Abigail Apollo. In the midfield, captain Allyson McKenna is an experienced box-to-box midfielder, supporting protege Minerva Hume Nelson, who has aspirations of being a similar player. In the wings, Tara Springsure and Camden Engstrom are young and energetic, although with a tendency to find themselves trapped too far up the field to be used for defensive purposes. Although star striker Jaclyn Swan-Weiss is entering the prime of her career, club woes at Celtic Noviodunum have hampered her performance recently. However, striking partner Carya Longreach displayed flashes of brilliance at the Olympic Games, leading to hopefulness among Gelderlish fans.

Huayramarcan Football History:
As a society, Huayramarcans enjoy sports, especially when politics may turn the nation into a chaos every second, they just want to run away from that horrible and desperate situation and may try luck on football.

Considering the levels of poverty on Huayramarca, young people may give a shot for football in the chaotic Liga 1 or lower tiers, with the hopes of achieving a decent salary that may help their families to get away from poverty and huayco-prone neighbourhoods. Liga 1 has fourteen teams from various parts of the country, mostly focused on the Sierra and Costa regions since those are the most heavily populated ones. The recent decisions taken in the Government and the Huayramarcan Football Federation, where they ended a ban on transferring players to foreign teams, has filled with optimism and illusion an entire generation of youngsters, that now aim to be another Huayramarcan playing abroad.

Immediately after the HFF creation, the president of the Plurinational State, Hugo Mina (Costeño), thought it would be a great idea to form a fringe squad for the AOCAF and then try to make it into Baptism of Fire or World Cup Qualifiers, hence he asked for Eliezer González (head of the Huayramarcan Football Federation) to try and apply for said tournaments. He sent notes to sign-up for those events, but he sent them incorrectly, at AOCAF, he sent it to a grandmother living up near the Andean Organization for Coffee, Agriculture and Forests (located at Cumbayá) instead of sending it to the proper AOCAF tournament organizing committee, which turned González into laughingstock for several weeks in Huayramarca. Despite that, González managed to sign-up properly for the WC, despite he was rejected for BoF because he applied to the “Burger of Fire” and not the Baptism of Fire.

After all, the HFF managed to convince 25 players from the amateur-ish Liga 1 sides to build the National Team, whose nickname is resumed to “Kuntur” (The Condors), all those players ranged from being high school students, to chemists, bus drivers, and even people from the local tavern, whose preference is revealed on how they named their team “Real Ebriedad”, which was later supported by Cristalina, the main brewery firm from Huayramarca.

Nothing that would be possible without the support of Omar Caicedo, a Costeño who migrated to Québec and decided to learn football techniques while managing Beyreuth University, where he won three national titles out of eight seasons on his span with them. Caicedo is a fan of high-pressure football, known as “gegenpressing” or “El Huayco” as Huayramarcans may call if (specially Serranos, since they might be quite shy or sometimes plain dumb that doesn’t like to attack) Anyways, Caicedo’s strategy proved right on some matches played by Huayramarca against their northern neighbour, the Royal Kingdom of Québec, beating them 5-1 at Huayramarca’s Estadio Nacional (located at 4,012 masl only?!…) and tying 2-2 at Iqaluit’s Ice Hockey Rink (that’s what the players thought at playing in a frozen city… ¡Achachay!) If you wonder what’s ¡Achachay! Well, figure out you’re on top of the mountain receiving wind and gelid weather right into you, if you did it, welcome to Huayramarcan’s sense of cold shivering!

Well, coming back to football, Caicedo’s devotion for 4-2-3-1 has been unquestionable, he always loved to boast of having a neat defence, two defending mid fielders that may aim to recover possession when needed, or even having one of them switching to creative duties in support of the team’s brain, Ian Mamani, then, two wingers feeding the sole striker up in the middle of the box. He did demonstrate a lot during the first part of the World Cup Qualifiers, earning some mixed results during it, but it failed for a part of the second half, where the team accumulated an 11 winless game streak added that they weren't capable to snatch a win during their first eight local games. In fact, their first home win came at the 9th home game, after that, they won three out of their four last home games, earning an 8 games unbeaten streak to finish off the Qualifiers, which was a quite impressive recovery after suffering a significant streak of defeats.

Said streak wasn’t a lucky strike, it was somehow a confirmation on how the Huayramarcan National Team had turned into a squad that forged a reputation as a hardworking team. The Cup of Harmony 77 was an interesting test for the team, to see if they are capable to handle out the nerves of what it implies to be struggling for a knockout spot until the last second of the last match, which is what happened to the Condors, since they tied their first three games, they had a chance to get into the last rounds but they had to face Port Ember. Huayramarca succumbed to the nerves and wasted a 2-0 lead to see how Port Ember scored five goals in quick succession. Said waste of opportunities happened to be a constant during World Cup 86, where rivals such as Ko-oren and Tequilo didn’t forgave the Condors, who suffered heavy-handed defeats and weren’t able to put off a fight.

With investments made by the Huayramarcan Government to the Huayramarcan Football Federation, by multiplying tenfold their budget, the HFF has now sent the managerial staff of the Condors to other nations, to gather new ideas and apply those to build a competent side in tactical terms, with the main purpose to achieve World Cup qualification for the first time as soon as possible and provide that joy to the Huayramarcan folk. That heavy investment provided benefits during the 87th World Cup Qualifiers, where Huayramarca left behind the label of being an "uncomfortable rival" to take a protagonist role in their group, finishing second behind Audioslavia with a solid 40 points in 18 matches. Things in playoffs might be forgettable as Huayramarca drew at home (1-1) and was thrashed (1-4) in Tikariot.

Despite the downturn in the team's mindset, the team faced struggles at the Cup of Harmony group stage. Being defeated by Mriin at the first game, defeating Garifunya 1-0 and then tying against Ibixa for the second time in the cycle sent the Condors to the Knockout phase of CoH for their first time ever, Xanneria was a hard rival for the Round of 32, Huayramarca's miracle run was about to start with a narrow 2-1 win over them; then two rock-solid performances against Saint Domingue and a well-known foe from the WCQ Group (Sargossa) with a 3-1 and 2-0 respectively, put Huayramarca among the best four sides in the Cup of Harmony. Being defeated by Mriin with a hard-fought 2-3 and then once again a 1-4 against Newmanistan were enough to confirm Huayramarca as the 4th placed side.

World Cup 88th would prove to be an interesting situation for the team and fans overall, Huayramarca would have a rather forgettable first half of the qualifiers, with a 6-game winless streak that became a ballast enough to keep the team away from the Top-3 during the entire Qualifier. The team tried to revert the situation with strong performances that, pitifully, weren’t enough to qualify the team for the World Cup. A strong CoH and a decent CAFA helped to compensate.

Life may repeat some of their lessons if people doesn’t manage to learn from them, the Huayramarcan National Team enjoyed their best start ever in a World Cup Qualifier, nine goals for and one against in the four first matches, the team was displaying a defensive strength unknown for many fans, they continued the path by defeating Squornshelan Remnant States and Nephara in important matches. “It was too good for being real” said many fans, and Tumbra proved them right, as they grounded the Huayramarcans at the Estadio Nacional with a painful 0-3, so painful that marked a steady decline of the team for the second half, as the team got a succession of draws and defeats that sent them from the top of the table to the fifth place in a span of four matchdays. From that crisis, it is noteworthy the fact that Omar Caicedo used an alternative XI for the remainder of the cycle and shifted to a more offensive version of “El huayco,” that would prove to be effective for Cycle 90.

With Caicedo’s tenure in a limbo, he decided to take a game-changing decision after hiring Rodolfo Zelaya as an assistant coach; Zelaya’s a former footballer with significant decorations such as Champions Cup with two teams and reaching the World Cup Final twice. Despite being defeated at home by Valanora in the opener, a string of four clean sheets in the next five games would be decisive to consolidate Huayramarca as a contender in her group, then a quick succession of decisive results against Krytenia at home (3-2) and Valanora on the road (2-2) paved the way to keep the team fighting for the first place until the last matchday. Despite defeating Krytenia 1-0 on the road, the Vanorians won their last match and that meant that Huayramarca went to the playoffs, despite possessing the seventh best record of the qualifiers.

Facing Omerica in the playoffs was a tough affair, as they managed to salvage a horrid game when visiting the rivals, a 1-2 that proved to be oxygen for the second leg of the playoffs at Puerto San Carlos. An early goal from the Legend itself, Bryan Tello, and a strong defensive performance from The Condors forced the penalty kicks. The Huayramarcans and Omericans were scoring perfectly fine until the fifth round, where Juan Mamani decided to be the hero and saved the kick, sending Huayramarca to its first World Cup Finals.

El Huayco was now stronger than ever, and the World Cup highlighted it with statement results against Græntfjall (4-3 in debut) and the hosts, Vilita (1-0), despite being defeated by Pemecutan(3-4) and helped the team to reach the Round of 16. The hurdle in the knockouts proved to be the same as the Qualifiers, Valanora appeared for the third time in the cycle and demonstrated their experience with a sound 4-2 victory over The Condors, who did a great debut in the Multiversal Stage.

Said streak continued for the WC 91 Qualifier, one where despite having a bumpy start, Huayramarca managed to recompose things and propel themselves to the pack of nations fighting for automatic qualification, one featuring Sarzonia, Cassadaigua and Electrum. After being defeated by Electrum and Cassadaigua in a row, Huayramarca began an astonishing 15 game unbeaten run where they only conceded 15 goals and scored 48, including five straight clean sheets, even in critical matches where the Condors showed a magnificent performance. Revenge was sweet, defeating the Dagans at home, trouncing Electrum with a resounding 6-0 at Guayaquil (a NT record) and then a 2-0 win against Sarzonia propelled the Huayramarcan side to the top of their qualifier group. A draw against Magnecia complicated things as Sarzonia had a game in hand, Huayramarca had to keep the winning streak and they managed to do so, securing their automatic qualification against Ancherion in a dramatic fashion.

Back in the Group Stage of the World Cup, the Condors were trying to replicate the success achieved last year in the World Cup, not an easy task as they would face Farfadillis, Pasarga and Delaclava. Being defeated twice by narrow 3-2 scores, Huayramarca had to bid farewell to their hopes of replication, still, they had to avoid going with a zero on points, something they managed to do as they defeated Delaclava with a 4-3. Despite the outcome, the Condors were able to make a comeback in the cycle with a decent participation in CAFA 4, winning three matches and barely qualifying for the knockout stages; then, they defeated Legalese in a marathonic penalty kicks session and were edged out by the hosts, Ko-oren, with a 1-2 in extra time. Almost the same can be said about World Cup Cycle 92, where Huayramarca had a great qualifying campaign, recovering a slight disadvantage at mid qualifiers by defeating Pasarga and qualify for the third time. A horrible World Cup performance, added by a sound defeat vs Aleirave at CAFA 5 Quarterfinals, led to the end of the Caicedo cycle.

Now, with the experienced Blâás Âgínsôgnó in the bench, with the support of Hazel van Robben, Huayramarca aspires to refresh its football idea in this World Cup Qualifier, adding some interesting players of the rather successful Di Bradini Cup 54 team, players that are aiming to rejuvenate the team and be a bid for an overall quality level increase. Fans across the nation are expectant of what this team can do, their performance during the qualifiers and hoping to qualify for the WC Group Stage once again.
Anyways, Huayramarcan football stills being distinguishable on how prone are they to do long range shots, due that they are used to play at significant heights, the lack of oxygen may make the ball travel further without applying a lot of strength during the mechanics of kicking the football, that is known as the “Andean Effect” and may cause serious troubles for visiting sides on Huayramarca.

Without further ado, the starting XI and substitutes are presented in the following tables:

Team mentality:
Huayramarcans, per se, are bold and quite diverse between the team due to the regional contrasts among them: You might note surnames such as: Condori, Mamani, Quispe, Sayritupac, etc. Those are Serrano surnames. Serranos as such are quite shy people with non-serranos, between them, great footballing societies may be made due to their complete understanding of each other, they are quite homogenous on how they act and may be predictable for each other. But, for the non-expert eye, Serranos are one on their kind and could result unpredictable for them, since they love to do things at fast pace between them, without doubt one could send 60 meters cross with complete confidence that they might find their teammate, with this, you can notice that Serranos are overconfident on themselves and somewhat dubious with Costeños and Selváticos. Other characteristic of Serranos is that they are quite easy to intimidate, being shy and short-sized doesn’t helps, but in that situation, they might opt to act even better than they do for the sake of shutting your mouth.

Costeños and Selváticos (jungle) in the other hand are confident with everybody, even if they might not receive the same treatment by their Serrano fellows. Those two groups conform the rest of the team and might do good societies on field, declining the quality of their chemistry when trying to connect with Serranos, due to the latter shy mood. Physically speaking, Costeño and Selváticos are people who boast being the tallest overall in the team.

Chemistry building has been somewhat complicated for this team during the five cycles they have competed together but has been a rather successful process that consolidated with the 79th Cup of Harmony, the 88 th and 89 th World Qup Qualifiers, as they have been together as glue through high and lows. The regional divides topic is now outdated as the players have grown up significantly and have harnessed teamwork.

Although they work nicely as a team, there’s a moment when they can’t do that and that moment is when they have the goal in their sights, when they have a chance to score, they try to do their best to do it by themselves, even if that means avoid passing the ball to a better placed teammate, individualities have been surging from nowhere and this issue has costed valuable results for the team. This was combated successfully by Caicedo and Zelaya and Blâás Âgínsôgnó plans to continue in said route.

To finish with this part, Huayramarca is that kind of team that may be overconfident sometimes, but if you press them to their limits, they might react in unsuspected ways, be those positive or negative for their interests, you don’t know what would happen in the Serrano, Costeño or Selvático mindset. As they do on the local league, they might try to do some antics to their rivals, be it: providing beer instead of water to their rivals, or the classiest one, giving distillated “ayahuasca” (vodka-like alcohol) and pass it like water and make their rivals be drunk, taking advantage of their influence to beat the rival team. Of course, they might not abuse of this resource, Serranos might ask Inti for it.

How We Play Football? Note: Open this spoiler for the formation and game style.
At simple glance, things doesn't seem that had changed a lot after Omar Caicedo left the national team, and so his ideals for the future prospects. Huayramarca has decided to brand her own style of football embracing offensiveness, courage and grit under the label of fulbo total, in an attempt to take Huayramarca back to her roots of football, just making some enhancements that will make this system competitive enough to be a competitive force.

Fulbo is a common mispelling for fútbol in the Huayramarcan dialect of Spanish, also refered as the way that people grow in the streets, neighbourhoods and all places of Huayramarca use to play the sport. In the traditional sense, Huayramarcan football tends to be physical, both in strength, and intensity that is required to perform in an OK level. From the random dusty pitches in the highlands to the state-of-the-art premises that some stadiums boast across the nation, players are asked to never give up, to give everything they can in order to achieve victory; to the point of exploit loopholes in the football rules for their advantage.

Centrebacks are used to be relatively strong, as they will also try to outpace their rivals in physical strength, displaying rudeness and being prone to perform some harsh tackling when needed; there's no fear to get carded, it's a matter of avoiding the rival to score against their team. People in the villages often use an idiom to refer to what they accept as a good centreback "Either the ball or the player, but not both." Another main treat of them is that they tend to provoke or annoy rivals by trash-talking, trying to disconnect them from the match and make their own duties easier. Often, they will play near the midfield in order to force the rest of the team to press the rivals, limiting the playing area to the rival's half.

Sidebacks are one of the most important links of the team, as they don't restrict themselves to defend, they can often liberate pressure from the centrebacks by pushing the ball forward, be it through individuality or large crosses to the midfielder or the wingers. They use to have a nice speed and great spamina, enough to perform box-to-box routines frequently; they also link up with wingers when attacking through the sides, often engaging in a quick pass succession that leads to crossing the ball to the forward or a second-striker awaiting outside the area. Speed is useful for them, as they must be able to retreat and guarantee defensive numeric superiority when the rival tries to do a counter attack.

Midfielders: Although there are two clear roles here, being the destroyer and the playmaker, it can also be said that the role is pretty much indistinctive from who does it, as every one in this zone of the pitch is required to switch roles according to the scenario they might be facing at any moment; that's why this position is the most flexible under the big scheme of things in fulbo. As the name say, the destroyer is in charge to destroy any linking from the midfielders to the attackers when the Condors are protecting themselves from a counter, or avoid connections between defenders and the midfielders while the team is attacking, they can either tackle with clinical finesse or just aim to the rival's ankle, it all depends on how good they consider their rival, the better they are, the harsher will the destroyers act against those players.

The playmakers, in the other hand, can either be completely egocentrical or collaborative, that will depend of the very own personal treats of whoever takes the role in a very specific circumstance. Âgínsôgnó has given freedoms to the players in order to attack freely going in solos if they see a chance through, deliver the ball to a player that might be able to continue the idea of attacking or, simply, hold the ball until an opening appears or switching to destroyer and letting another player to find a gap that they might not notice.

Attackers: Tradition mandates two wingers and a spearhead, a forward that cautiously awaits a pass to slot it home. The wingers are instructed to serve the attacker or go through the defence and force a chance for themselves to score, similar to the defenders but not with the leeway to change sides, no, only instructions to provide enough tools for their decision-making process and promote more diverse ideas rather than focusing in a way to break through brute force. Âgínsôgnó also asks the attackers to bethe first line of defence of the National Team when the rivals commence a play, always through pincer plays or support from the creative midfielder; sometimes, the attackers can drop some metres to help in ball recovery efforts, then to start an attack with the help of the creative attacker.

The new Huayramarcan National Team, under the ideals of Âgínsôgnó, tries to makre sure that the ball can be held in the half of the rival team, as much as possible under Huayramarcan control, trying to create chances to break through the defence and score, or simply move the ball and cause fatigue on their rival as they try to chase the ball in vain. This style requires a lot of concentration from the players, stamina and need to collaborate and decide in a short time span, as dynamism is the name of the game, to never run out of ideas and outsmart the rival, that's the Huayramarcan 4-2-1-3.

Player’s description - Starting XI.

Nota bene: Caps considered after CAFA - For national purposes, friendlies are never taken into consideration for official registries.

N°1 - Juan Mamani - GK - 30 yrs - Team: Rülândéá Kôstä Image - Height: 1.88 mts - Caps: 227 - Goals: 1

Mamani is an individual that believes he always is right, he tends to be creative when saving balls or creating ideas to take the ball forward, based so much in the fact that he is protective, spontaneous and loves to be independent in his actions, always a dependable guy. Currently, his mood is over the clouds as he was recently signed up by the Farf side of Rülândéá Kôstä, now Juan expects to have experience at the highest level possible and learn techniques that might help the Condors sometime. A curious fact is that he’s brother with the creative mid of this team, Ian Mamani. He has achieved a hero status among fans due to his decisive last penalty kick save in the shootout against Omerica in the World Cup 90th in the second leg of the playoffs.

N°2 - Kevin Quispe - RCB - 25 yrs - Team: Farrenton Athletic Image - Height: 1.75 mts - Caps: 228 - Goals: 8

An average guy in terms of intelligence that has no life plan, hence he left studies to make a living with football. He is very secretive, doesn't like even to tell his teammates what his next movement will be because he knows we will be wrong, Quispe has serious issues with anger management and may be rebellious, he is cold and ignores what the others might feel or think about him, he doesn't give a fu*k of anything. Anyways, he's in his best form so far with Farrenton Athletic, being nominated as one of the top defenders of the Euran League shows how his discipline and perseverance have taken him where he stands.

N°4 - Carlos Vilca - LFB - 31 yrs - Team: Valnohar Rovers FC Image - Height: 1.78 mts - Caps: 225 - Goals: 12

Vilca exemplifies the stereotype of a Serrano, he is overly analytical and optimistic, with patience when a player might approach to him, he might take some minutes to make a mental profile of who he will face and how to block him in its right side. Despite being coordinated and loving to be the centre of attention, he loves to be quiet and solitary with his own personal code of conduct, he might be extremely fair while robbing balls and could try to be the surprise factor, since he tends to be a box-to-box player that loves to defend and also create offensive plays when possible. Right now, he’s in a great personal moment due to his critical role that helped Huayramarca to put a cohesive defence during the last World Cup Qualifier.

N°15 – Paolo Manco - RFB - 29 yrs - Team: Pumahuasi FC Image - Height: 1.73 mts - Caps: 26 - Goals: 1

Paolo Manco has been a silent substitute of the National Team for almost 8 years, although, he has been patiently waiting up for this chance, the one that has opened in front of his eyes after the departure of Omar Caicedo. The new manager has seen Manco’s ability to project himself to attack and be a box-to-box player when needed, he has a great sense of placement and knows to be at the precise place when needed. Speed is Manco’s best attribute, one that he is sure that he can apply to provide the best results for The Condors. As of now, he is ecstatic after being named a starting XI player.

N°14 - Santiago Chumacero - LCB - 30 yrs - Team: FC Atahualpa Image - Height: 1.81 mts - Caps: 230 - Goals: 20

Chumacero's perception of things might be out of this world, his mind might be steps forward the others and might help to anticipate to movements that may be done by the rival. For that purpose, he's always flexible, active and plays like he would be killed if he does a mistake, he's loyal with his team, faithful and gentle, hence he might be the motivator of the squad. Chumacero is an extremely dependable player, and it would be matter of time to see him departing from the Huayramarcan Liga 1 for a better place, as his athletic capabilities are too big to stagnate in an amateur-ish league.

N°17 - Orlando Mina - CM - 27 yrs - Team: Montréal Koreana Image - Height: 1.95 mts - Caps: 228 - Goals: 16

One of the two defensive mid of the team and, for sure, one of the best in the multiverse in his position, being the classical Costeño out there, Mina is the tallest and strongest player of the squad. Mina's attitude is being original and stubborn, giving you classical Costeño vibes, consistent in his performance and devoted to God, he cares a lot about what he does, since he tries always to correct his mistakes and not suffering on them, instead, he uses them as feedback to improve his game and abilities. Mina's a notable example on how one can benefit from football, as he helped his mother who was fired from his job when he joined to the Condors and turned her into a real estate tycoon by providing her savings. His mood is extremely positive as of now by the fact of being a key player in Montréal Koreana, and also for being named into the Testículos Player of the Year Longlist.

N°11 - Ian Mamani - CF - 27 yrs - Team: Workers Union Image - Height: 1.65 mts - Caps: 228 - Goals: 44

The youngest of the Mamani brothers in this team, along with Juan, Ian has what Juan might lack sometimes, creativity and brightness, although they play in various positions and roles in the team. This creative mid and captain of the team is one of the grandiose things among this team, a fast-paced and fussy person with lots of potential, euphoria that drives him to perform as what he can do, being the best of the entire nation in his role. Large crosses are his specialty, including long-range shots when playing on the highlands. Right now, his euphoria level has increased a lot, considering he got called to play at the Workers Union of Eura, the fact of being called captain and being on the international TV screen for WCQ and weekend matches that any random Huayramarcan broadcast fills him with motivation.

N°8 - Nicolás Allauca - CF – 32 yrs - Team: Winnipeg United Image - Height: 1.80 mts - Caps: 229 - Goals: 24

Nico was a bus driver until the last three weeks prior to WC 85 Qualifiers, when he decided to enter to the amateur football world of Huayramarca, he was in luck that Caicedo watched him plat and fell in love on how he performed. Allauca is spontaneous and may not like to do training, he is a fast-moving and extremely practical (hates theories) defensive mid, that may mutate to a second creative mid with Ian Mamani and has also a decent capability to score goals while going to attack. After having a discrete performance in Chromatika, now he moves to Québec's Winnipeg United, where he expects to keep up the tone as he does with the National Team.

N°7 - Abraham Mendoza - LF - 28 yrs - Team: Ogroven Vanguardi FK Image - Height: 1.63 mts - Caps: 228 - Goals: 25

Nicknamed “El Ingeniero” The smallest of the entire team, Mendoza is a mentally strong individual who loves to work hard, play hard and be a strong leader inside the team in terms of order. A competent but realistic player who may not be spectacular while playing on the wings, but pragmatical and effective when achieving his purposes. On his personal life he is the best positioned of all the group, since he just graduated in Industrial Engineering at the Huayramarcan Technical University with a deserved "summa cum laude", so no matter what happens, he could get a decent job position in any Huayramarcan enterprise to optimize their processes. You might notice how Abraham's personal discipline is, and this is shown even to football, where he tries to compliment weaknesses that he may have as his height, but he tries to compensate with decent body-building routines. He might not be a prolific scorer for the standards of a winger, but he has at least a 35% of assists for the total of Huayramarcan goals scored during the Qualifiers, hence, somebody to take care of.

N°21 - Gabriel Sayritupac - RF - 28 yrs - Team: Shamrock Cathair Image - Height: 1.75 mts - Caps: 205 - Goals: 77

Sayri as he's known by many people in his native Tulcán (near the Québécois-Huayramarcan border) is an artistic person in all senses of his life. Usually, he makes a living by painting portraits of people visiting the Chimborazo National Forest Reserve, sometimes working on a local brewery, or doing football for fun. He doesn't stands being alone and might be that easy-going Serrano (which is weird, if we come to think it). He has genetic problems that makes him quite prone to injuries, and when those occur, Sayri decides to get inebriated to let frustration go away. An artistical winger, lover of uncertainty and mess that makes him be either the best or cause problems to settle where he plays. As of now, he has managed to find its way on football, winning a IFCF Champions’ League with Athletik Thessia, some championships in Mytanija and now being in Audioslavia, closer to home, but eager to win more.

N°21 - Bryan Tello - ST - 33 yrs - Team: Metropolis Alligators Image - Height: 1.86 mts - Caps: 201 - Goals: 150

A decently heighted Costeño as forward is always a neat solution for your goal needs, with good pace, stride, and physic abilities Tello is what every team may need for up front. He's factual since he studied Philosophy at the University of Cumbayá, a committed and self-confident man who might be extremely traditional to his striker role, he might seek for space to go front, use his strength and move towards the goal. Tello is a strong leader among the shadows of the Huayramarcan national team, an outgoing and straight-forward person that could sometimes aggressive since he's prone to be insensitive. Despite that he is the Legend of the team, the striker that is at the right place and moment to push the ball against the net, something that has helped him retain his position as stellar striker of Metropolis Alligators in the Valladar Liga-1.

Substitutes:

Nota bene: In order to have a deeper understanding of Huayramarcan players, take in consideration the following list of personalities for the substitutes. Take time, if you wish, to read the substitute players list posted again down here and follow the order of said list. The first player on this list, has his mindset reflected in the left of the first row, the second in the right of the first row and so on until the last one:

The Kits:
Huayramarca’s social mindset is to aim for local consumption in the long term, hence the HFF decided to hire “eva Sportswear” to manufacture the kits for the national team. “eva” decided to take the ball out of the park with unique designs for Huayramarca, reflecting the national identity and adding up motivational phrases on them for mere sake of marketing. Those kits are based on the geography of this nation, from the coast to the highlands and jungle to promote a sense of national unity, especially on a stage that the national team is trying to consolidate its name in the exciting multiverse of football.

Some of the backgrounds feature Túpac Katari, one of the most famous indigenous fighters from the Sierra, who kept invaders away from Huayramarcan soil, and helped forging the alliance that gave birth to what we known as the Plurinational State of Huayramarca. Nevado Inti as symbol of strength, and a statement of outstanding size that is the highest mountain in Anaia. The force of nature such as Longevity Valley in Huancavilca, the River Yaraví, and the Rainbow Mountain, as symbols of diversity, power and unity that last through time, with an unstoppable pace.

“eva” decided to depict elements that provide sense of pride and national identification for Huayramarcans, no matter where they are from, those are universal icons of what Huayramarca is and its roots. Strong roots, legacy, and people forging their future with faith, pride, and hope.

Stadia:
You might want to check some maps, as Huayramarca is quite a massive country in terms of surface and distances. Click here for a Biome Official Map and here for a Cities Official Map.

Before introducing the stadia, there’s some handy information for away fans who might visit Huayramarca. As said before, this nation has a quite complex geography and some long distances to travel for away fans, since there are four international airports: Huayramarca International Airport, located near Chuquiago at the highlands; the Jorge Guerra International Airport in Lima, on the coast; the International Airport of the Archipelago on Puerto San Carlos (isles) and the Libertador Suárez International Airport of Sechura (jungle). Those airports might provide you with connections for other destinations such as Guayaquil, San Ignacio de la Frontera and Nauta if you want to travel safely. If you are a risk taker and lover of adventure, rent an AWD vehicle and go up mountains or driving through them which is a complete odyssey due to the risks caused by the Andean geography itself, or the safe-to drive-coasts or through the jungle, which can be desolated to drive in case of mechanic failure.

People in Huayramarca might be passional about football pretty much everywhere, but more hostile when you go down the mountains, driving to the coast. Down there, if people don’t attack you, weather might do due to the offensive humidity, mosquitoes and heat that may occur there. In Lima, despite being in the coast, the weather is mild and great to play football, but there might be some sandstorms due to the deserts located south of said city. Coastal teams usually play at afternoon, when humidity may suffocate those not used to deal with it.

Same happens at the jungle, but the mosquito issue multiplies thousand-fold, also as humidity caused by constant rains that pass there in their transit to the highlands. Water absorption made by trees cause severe issues with an extremely humid weather, hence jungle teams decide to play often at noon, to torture rival teams.

On the Sierra things get worse since the main problem up there is respiration. For a physical activity like football, people might need some weeks to acclimatize altitude and get an efficient breathing pattern that might supply their physical effort needs. Several cities are above the 2500 masl, even the capital city, which is located at 4000 masl, it doesn’t matter at which time they decide to play, if a team isn’t acclimatized, they will even faint during the game if they don’t have with them oxygen tanks to breathe before the game or if they don’t get some treatment into a hyperbaric chamber.

Stadia are distributed to have a distribution as equal as possible for regions, considering that there will be ten local games at Huayramarca, Sierra, Costa and Selva will receive three matches each one and one in the Isles. Each region will receive a high tier rival and then a randomized sort of two other teams in other matchdays. You might contact the Huayramarcan Football Federation (OOC: TG me or shout me at Discord!) in case of more information or solving some needs for your team and fans.

Sierra:

Estadio Nacional de Huayramarca - Capacity: 45,500 - Chuquiago.

Image

Tenants: Ministry of Culture and Sports of Huayramarca.
Built in: 1968.
Altitude: 4,012 meters above sea level.
Local teams: Illimani FC, Real Ebriedad, Huayramarcan National Team.
Data: Built in 1968, the Estadio Nacional is the jewel in the not so well-shaped crown of the Huayramarcan sport venues, an Olympic stadium that might be a nightmare for visiting teams due to the altitude and weather of the city, which tends to be somewhat hostile every day, even more if it's played at noon due to the sun's radiation at that altitude. Despite being an Olympic stadium, people tend to set significant pressure in it, especially from the neighbouring apartment blocks which tends to be crowded for the matches being held there (they might aim lasers from there, take care!).

Also, the walls near the dressing room have curious messages as such: "Welcome to Huayramarca D.M. At 4,000 meters above sea level "is one of the first things the visiting teams will read upon entering the dressing room, perhaps to make clear the conditions to which they will be subjected throughout the game. It is still intimidating the following warning that is issued when they leave the visiting dressing room "Caution, if you have the following symptoms: Headache, vertigo, fatigue, tachycardia, nausea or vomiting, wheezing, dyspnoea or inappetence, go to the medical staff, we are at your disposal."

Will host:
  • MD 9: vs Farfadillis - 21:05 - Foggy, -2°C.

Estadio de la Revolución - Capacity: 40,000 - San Ignacio de la Frontera, Cajamarca.

Image

Tenants: Ministry of Culture and Sports of Huayramarca.
Built in: 1985.
Altitude: 2,325 meters above sea level.
Local teams: Audax Cajamarca, Huayramarcan National Team.
Data: The Ministry of Culture and Sports has decided to revamp the sporting infrastructure across Huayramarca to promote football among young people and form, in a near future, a strong Huayramarcan National Team. To fulfil said promise stadia were built in significant places in Huayramarca, San Ignacio de la Frontera is one of those sometimes-forgotten outposts of the nation yet relevant for trading with its neighbouring Mertagne in the eastern side of the Highlands. Home of Audax Cajamarca, this stadium promises to offer one of the most interesting fan scenes in the nation, as people are more enthusiastic than other places in Huayramarca, considering the heavy influence that Mertagnian football has caused in this place.

Not as high as another venues in terms of altitude, the 2,325 meters above sea level isn't a cipher that should be underestimated, to the contrary, it's still a problematic altitude for teams that aren't used to it, especially on ball shooting and breathing conditions. This stadium is the only one in Huayramarca that uses turf as ground to play, something that could cause issues with visiting teams and Huayramarcans that might not be used to play here.

Will host:
  • MD 19: vs Sudilia - 17:30, 6°C. Sunny.

Estadio de la Universidad Nacional del Altiplano - Capacity: 24,000 – El Alto.

Image

Tenants: Universidad Nacional del Altiplano.
Built in: 1986.
Altitude: 4,525 meters above sea level.
Local teams: Club Universitario del Altiplano, Club Atlético Always Ready, Huayramarcan National Team.
Data: Behold to what is one of the highest (if not the highest) stadium in the Multiverse. Huayramarcans are known for their impressive resilience to high altitudes, and this is a significant example, El Alto is a satellite city of Huayramarca D.M. and home of half a million people that’s located at a highly elevated portion of the Altiplano (4500 m.a.s.l. average). A working-class city, characterised for being the entry point for people settling from the rural areas and the gateway for students into the metropolitan life, El Alto can also prove to be a hostile field as it’s hard to adapt and settle in such conditions.

Home of Club Universitario del Altiplano and Club Atlético Always Ready, this stadium has not been created for the sake of torturing rivals, instead, for the popularity of the sport among the inhabitants of El Alto. People are usually thirsty for sports after a tough day, as people usually work under extenuating labour conditions, hence this is an authentic kettle set to explode in support for the local team.

Will host:
  • MD 12: vs Pyazhnaya - 18:15, -5°C. Sleet.

Selva:

Estadio Olímpico del Oriente - Capacity: 26,000 - Sechura.

Image

Tenants: MuniSechura.
Built in: 1945.
Altitude: 560 meters above sea level.
Local teams: Sociedad Petrolera, Huayramarcan National Team.
Data: One of the biggest stadia in Huayramarca, the main hub of sports in the Jungle region is located at Sechura, a city of about 300,000 inhabitants which serves as logistical hub for operations of rubber production and for explorations into the dense jungle nearby. Sociedad Petrolera is a modest Liga 1 side, but one that tends to attract ticket sell outs every game, since people in that region tends to be quite enthusiastic of football in order to forget they’re not so good daily life. At that city, one should take care of humidity, which tends to be quite strong at times, hence teams usually play there on afternoon or night, since heat might be something difficult to stand even for locals.

Will host:
  • MD 14: vs Kimi-Suomi - 14:30 – Sunny, 33°C.

Estadio Provincial de Nauta - Capacity: 16,000 - Nauta.

Image

Tenants: Autoridad Deportiva de Nauta.
Built in: 1985.
Altitude: 1,725 meters above sea level.
Local teams: Sporting Nauta, Huayramarcan National Team.
Data: Located in the high-elevation jungle, a biome located between 1,500 and 2,000 meters above sea level, Nauta is considered by many as the gateway to the Huayramarcan jungle, as it is the most populated town (255,000) in a desolated strip of 1,200 km of road that connects to Sechura (the fourth largest city of Huayramarca). Anyways, part of a wave of stimuli from the Government towards Football, Nauta got awarded a new venue for their local second division team and, potentially, a home for future matches of The Condors, which will be a reality in this World Cup Qualifier. Inspired in shells found at the shores of the river Nanay (which divides the city in two), this stadium reflects the local identity of the Nautans, people dedicated mostly to fishing activities.

This might be the calmest venue of the nine that Huayramarca will provide for this World Cup Qualifier, but don’t take it for granted that will be easy; mosquitos and weather will also play its match in Huayramarca, and this is not an exception.

Will host:
  • MD 21: vs Carpathia and Ruthenia - 17:30 - Sunny, 26°C.

Estadio Municipal de Pando - Capacity: 18,000 - Pando.

Image

Tenants: Autoridad Deportiva de Pando.
Built in: 1986.
Altitude: 150 meters above sea level.
Local teams: Asociación Deportiva Vaca Díez, Club ABH, Huayramarcan National Team.
Data: Pando is located just in the outskirts of the burgeoning city of Brigadier Echeandía, part of the well-known “Cocoa Axis” serving as a gateway to some of the best plantations of cocoa in Anaia. As part of the massive development that the Huayramarcan Selva is having due to oil and cocoa, the Autoridad Deportiva de Pando decided to invest in building a significant stadium for two of the strongest and most popular clubs of the Department such as Vaca Díez and ABH, hence it was built with savings coming from taxation of those two lucrative activities.

The environment could be relaxed compared to other venues in Huayramarca, fans there tend to be supportive but more as a hobby rather than a passion… But there’s no certainty on how this could change with the Huayramarcan National Team visiting their lands.

Will host:
  • MD 2: vs New Portland Republic - 15:00 - Windy, 23°C.

Costa:

Estadio Metropolitano del Guayas - Capacity: 62,000 - Guayaquil.

Image

Tenants: Autoridad Guayaquileña de Deportes.
Built in: 1980.
Altitude: 15 meters above sea level.
Local teams: Guayaquil Wanderers, Barcelona Sporting Club, Huayramarcan National Team.
Data: A kettle pot, that's the definition for the biggest stadium in all of Huayramarca. "El Metropolitano" is the most recently built stadium in the nation and will make the debut for international football in Huayramarca. Hosts two teams and the fan atmosphere in Guayaquil is one of the most intimidatory ones in the multiverse, fans throwing you stones while receiving, throwing flares, extremely noisy people all around and the incredibly hot and humid weather that dominates the city may be lethal for some teams when trying to visit. Rescuing a tie from here may be considered something great, since you survived the "Guayaco" hell. Hence that, teams often love to play at the afternoon, specially at 3:00 P.M. to squeeze out the rivals in exhaust.

Will host:
  • MD 5: vs Sargossa - 15:00 – Sunny, 36°C.

Estadio Olímpico Universitario - Capacity: 55,000 Lima.

Image

Tenants: Universidad Nacional Mayor de Santa Cecilia.
Built in: 1955.
Altitude: 430 meters above sea level.
Local teams: Club Universitario.
Data: Imagine a venue packed of people that has just finished their daily classes, people thirsty to watch football and leave aside, for a moment, their daily academic stress. That’s the most accurate depiction of the Estadio Olímpico Universitario, a 55,000-seater venue that will host, for the first time, the Huayramarcan National Team. This is the second largest stadium of Huayramarca, and it’s known for being built in a way that optimizes acoustics, so fans could be noisier than they really are during their fireworks receiving of the local team. To include more communities into the sport, the HFF has considered to include this venue (and the city of Lima) for this WCQ to see more local identity during the matches.

Will host:
  • MD 17: vs Lisander - 19:00 – Clear skies, 24°C.

Estadio Departamental de Tarapacá - Capacity: 16,000 Alto Hospicio.

Image

Tenants: Municipalidad de Alto Hospicio.
Built in: 1974.
Altitude: 12 meters above sea level.
Local teams: Deportes Tarapacá.
Data: Located in the southern portion of the Huayramarcan coast, Alto Hospicio is one of the most significant ports of Huayramarca, also an important part in football culture for the local fans by being the cradle of the Copa Huayramarca, the most prestigious tournament of the country. Fans in the stadium tend to be noisy and rowdy, except hostility and even insulting chants from them, as “Hospiceños” tend to be known in Huayramarca as the most foul-mouthed folks in Huayramarca

Will host:
  • MD 7: vs Bubiyan and Warbah - 20:05 – Clear skies, 12°C.

Isles:

Estadio Marítimo - Capacity: 22,000 – Puerto San Carlos.

Image

Tenants: Provincial Authority of the San Carlos Archipelago.
Built in: 1985.
Altitude: 225 meters above sea level.
Local teams: Club Marítimo, Huayramarcan National Team.
Data: Located three and a half hours away from Continental Huayramarca (via airplane), Puerto San Carlos is the furthest outpost of Huayramarca, located midway between Ko-oren and Nova Calania (continent). A city known for its ecologic mindset, good coral reefs to do snorkelling and pristine beaches that turns it into the ideal vacation spot for the average Huayramarcan family. The Estadio Marítimo has been built by the National Government and the Huayramarcan FA in their “Together Forever” campaign of integrating the four main regions of the nation into the sports scene, this stadium boasts the privilege of being the first carbon-neutral venue in the Anaian region by virtue of respecting the environment and being powered by natural means of energy such as wind and sun.

Fans here might be the noisiest in Huayramarca, this because the enthusiasm it means to receive the National Team in rare occasions for them, aside from being this World Cup Qualifier the formal inaugural act of the venue. Expect a wild crowd of people, even in the nearby hills or climbing trees to see the match.

Will host:
  • MD 11: vs Starblaydia - 19:45 – Clear skies, 24°C.
  • MD 15: vs Bollonich - 19:45 – Rainy, 20°C.

TROLLEBORG NATIONAL TEAM

Nickname: Trolls

Team usually playing in green, while white one was declared second uniform

Image

NATIONAL TEAM

Team enters now its tenth year in the international football. It was not by which way things goes next few years. Obvious retreat of the few last years in the World Cup table of ranks give fans much to worry about, especially with a full understanding that situation will not be easy to improve.

Up to date, Trolleborg national team have 196 victories, 57 draws and 100 loses to her name, with 587 goals scored and 384 conceded. Of course, all fans waited eagerly for 200th victory and 600th scored goal, both targets looked achievable.

COACH

61-years old Morten Troghil is a manager of the team since its creation. He made himself name in the local league, was voted by the people of Trolleborg to lead national team, and coached it ever since, spend almost half of his career at this post, having three international titles to his name, four times played in the finals of major international tournaments, almost take a rare distinction of achieving victory in two regional tournaments, and succeed to bring our team at the World Cup thrice. But here was voices recently to give him a break and even ones that questioned are coach have any new ideas.

PLAYERS

GOALKEEPERS

Morten Kerr (28). Younger brother of now retired from international football iconic forward Stuart Kerr, he known as very skilful and intelligent player. By virtue of his reflexes, bravery and clear reading of the game he have a recognition from the fans notwithstanding which team. Played as number one in the first ever international tournaments in the Trolleborg history, U18 Cup in S&T, he moved into the place between post in the national team.
Jesper Krogh (28 years). Very fast player who already prove himself on both league and international level, who prove himself good at the second floor, without losing something in his first floor game skills. He have a tough (albeit friendly) competition with Morten Kerr for a spot number one. Most probably, these two will share together 80 percent of time on the field, with third goalkeeper will have other 20 percent, usually with unranked team.
Torben Fingall (24). Prove himself efficient and reliable, he has a great talant of well-positioning himself, and extremely fast in addition. His performance in the rare occassions he have in international football is more than satisfactory, but not too much above it.

DEFENDERS

Kasper Wolters (33). He is very strong, and relatively fast for his already advanced age. In the past he substituted right midfielders and use his crossing skill to add something to the attacking might of the team, but right now prefer to concentrate on the defensive duties. Looked like if Morten Troghil will use him as a mentor and backup.
Jooris Hesp (26). This left defender\winger\wing back faster than he looks, he is excellent in the air and he is also good marker, and many players in the games on international club level find it very difficult to get past him. It was not clear, if he will have much time in the team in the stressful conditions of World Cup Qualification.
William Schendel (28). Versatile fast moving defender known for his skillful positioning and man-marking, highly effective in breaking opposition attacks, great in the heading, with incredible high crosses-interception rate.
Brutil Liis (26). International club tournaments give our team another new man: very complete defender – quick, disciplined and decisive, great in one-to-one duels and reading game good, he is also thoughful passer.
Miran Fizer (30). He has a nickname “Greaven”, meaning in Trollish language a very strong sort of mountain stone. Morten Troghil made a very controversial move when added him. Miran have a great positioning skills, he fight for every ball, dominant in the aerial game and very tight marker, but he looked like person totally devoid of any constructive capacity. He capable only of limited passing and never goes far forward. His mode of work usually limited to disrupting any activity by the opposing team in his area of responsibility, and once in possession of the ball, he usually sends it wherever direction he face. He don’t be much of help in the games of recent WCQ, but fully succeed in his duties of disrupting and disposessing in IAC and TSP and maybe add something badly needed in the World Cups.
Joran Du Riis (32). Cold-blooded fighter prove that he more than capable holding his own at the highest level. Agile and fast-moving, but solidly builded and used this for his advantage, he play with composure and responsibility, probably he will be keystone of the Trolleborg defence.
Aien Troger (34). This strongly build defender have a lot of experience and extremely good in tackling, it’s very challenging to move into the box past him and he made life extremely difficult for the many famed forwards on the international scene. Apart from Wolters he is only defender who goes all the way from the first games of the national team. But right now he will probably sit on the bench, bar any catastrophe.
Thomas Heg (25). This versatile defender can play as both central or left defender, but he best suited as a former. His movements are sure and quick, he is masterful when intercepting ball and excellent in the air.
Joran Rijsager (28). Left defender or central defender as coach see fit, he concedes nothing to rivals and rarely makes a mistakes. His performance in WCQ is very far from spectacular, but he prove himself safe bet at the IAC. So, despite many voices heard against his presense in the team lineup, coach give him another chance

MIDFIELDERS

Soren Wittingem (28). Strong player who can run incessantly whole 90 minutes, distributes ball well due to his great passing ability and perfect knowledge of game, and also shows considerable tenacity and real class at his duties as defensive midfielder, as it was extremely difficult to go past him. But right now he don’t make to the height of work recently retired Hendrick Groningen.
Torben Scantorp (26). Another addition to the team, this defensive midfielder ball-winning talents are remarkable. He has a talent of reading game (and some also joking, that also reading thoughts), and is untiring worker, capable to bring ball forward fast and precise. Usually Trolleborg team don’t used defensive midfielders, and almost never two at once, so many call Morten Troghil decision to have two DM’s at the squad strange, but situation at the Eagle Cup is different from usual, so, probably, he will have a time on the field.
Anselm Kollimor (27). Attack-minded right-side midfielder. His runs into the box of rival teams is always dangerous. But he will have a tough fight for the spot at the team lineup, since he has to fight for a spot with Jesper Gronholm.
Jesper Gronholm (29). Established member of the team, he was comfortable at the right flank as midfielder and winger. He was willingly join any move forward, where he pass ball quickly and thoughtfully, and sometimes shot at goal with a very decent results.
Jesper Wolters (26). Quick, skillful and creative, this central midfielder covers a lot of ground, taking part in defensive work and joining attacks willingly.
Argail Sheridan (25). This player is from the family of recent emigrants to the country, he is literally “son of the great Trolleborg opening”. His technical resourses made him very useful player in the midfield line. He is fantastic dribbler, and used to make very good passes over 20-30 meters, but only with his right leg, and this impaired his usefulness greatly.
Brutil Skrta (27). Very complete player, who posessed ability, stamina, flair, technique and resoluteness in just perfect mix. Shows tremendous accuracy when passing, fine distant shooting skills, he moved very fast and prove his talents brilliantly in the last few tournaments. But he lacked something to be the player like Morten Troll was in his best years
Kenneth Pathmoor (29). This central midfielder can cover a lot of space in the middle of the field and with his pace, agility and an eye for goal he willingly can find net himself or conjure goal opportunity for his forwards.
Karsten Palmor (27). Another new face in the team, earned spot in the lineup as a result of performance in the international club tournament. With the ball under control this midfielder is a man which hard to stop. His physical condition is usually exceptional. Likes to rush to the line and cross to the box
Morten Troll (34). Genius of game, with a wonderful dribbling, beautiful technique, excellent pass and extremely good shot, he won many games for his local team single-handedly, but also a great team player with great repertoire of tricks. He was justifiable praised as one of the main creators of the all Trolleborg football successes. His absense clearly felt, and it was not clear, if Morten Troghil will find satisfactory way of how to do without him.
Torben Pangborn (27) Skilful central left midfielder, whose great speed allows him to outpace opponents and break through rival defences. His talents allow him to make a lot of scoring chances for the team, and due to his speed he is very useful in the counter-attacks.
Kasper Windass (28). Broad and strong left midfielder, he looked a little bit sluggish when moving without ball, but everything changes when he have it. Then he moved extremely fast, sweeping away everything in its path due to his mighty build and usually ended move with a clever pass.
Karsten Gould (28). This versatile midfielder can play as a left midfielder or forward if needed. But his passing much better than shooting skills, so he prefer not to make long shots, instead move into the box very fast and try to make dangerous continuations. He prove himself well in the international club tournaments last season and his chances for a place in the lineup improved as a result.

FORWARDS

Torben Kranforde (27). Very fast forward, who have special ability to surprise rival defenders. He also posessed a great skill of positioning himself very well, and regularly sent many defenders and goalkeepers into despair with his precise and deadly shots from both feet. He prove himself prolific scorer at all recent tournaments team taking part of.
Kroonquist, Morten (28). Another addition to the team squad, this fast forward known for intensity of his game, and he is capable to maintain workrate in all 90 minutes. With enviable quickeness he moved very fast, turns very well, constantly pressurized rival defenders, with or without balls, and always trying winning back posession. He prove himself as a prolific goal scorer in recent tournament, but there was a doutbs, if he is up to the height that our team needed to won right now.
Torstein Troghils (28). He stands out for his powerful header, helped by great jump and precious skill of placing himself well, and he also shoots well from both feets. In addition to other talents, this player can be labeled as specialist in controlling ball in difficult positions. He made a very good application for the place in the lineup in the TSP, but it’s not clear, are his talents are enough to earn him place in the tough WCQ situation.
Gerard Reuzer (27). This tall and sturdy forward being called up to the national team first time, and many look at him with hope. With addition to the good dribbling skills he controls ball well and can shot from either feet or holding ball up until his teammated arrived. He also can contribute to the team efforts by his good headers and do this not once in the recent games.
Kendall Kerl (27). This power forward proved himself very effective (if judged by recent international club tournaments) in front of goals. Physically strong, so he don’t have need to shies away from collusions, but usually he prefer to concentrate on his prime functions, and he also blessed by great technoque, so scores a lot of goals from just one touch.

TEAM TACTICS AND GAME STYLE

With Morten Troghil at the helm team always practiced attractive attacking game on a fast pace. He never wander far from his usual 4-4-2 with defenders pressed forward and flank midfielders join attacks whatever possible, or 3-5-2 with a midfielders move back and forth as things dictated. Integral and inalienable part of the team’s game will be mighty pressing, applied whatever on the field when ball is not on our side.

This is lineup which, most probably, will play with opponents from pots 1-4

And this one is, probably, will be on the field while team will play with teams who are not yet move to the first lines of ranks

Unsportsmanlike behavior in Trolleborg is highly discouraged, even – and especially – if in the interests of the cause. National team players are required to meet the highest standards possible, so it is completely impossible to imagine a player of the Trolleborg national team faking injury or begging for a penalty. It is expected that players who have a choice to fall and appeal for penalty and try to continue game choce latter without any doubts.

Style –5.
No, there was no confusion, team played attacking football on the field, while having negative style modifier for a scorinating purposes.

STADIUM

Altought there was a strong inclination to change things, all Trolleborg’s home games, bar anything unusual happened, will be played in the capital, Trolleborg City, on a “1th December” Stadium, which after recent realignment of things have a capacity of 100,000.

Image

This stadium was built by the voluntary labor of ordinary citizens in the honour of the sacred 1th December, Trolleborg Day of Victory. It’s located in the beautiful place – in the middle of a forested area on a peninsula protruding into the sea near the capital. Three stations of subway transport and stops of two bus routes located within two kilometers, and this allow fans arrive and leave stadium quickly and troubleless.
