I really don't think they would. You are completely untrained with politics and would have no idea how to run the new emperorship. Not to mention the beaurocratic hellhole (or if we're going super roman, lack thereof, which would definitely be worse) you'd have to run, and your lack of understanding of key members and functions of the U.S. Military all the way down that would almost certainly lead to you hiring some awful generals. security council members, and other military officers that'd almost definitely lose you the war in the near-certain civil war. But the worst part, without a doubt, would be the Federal Budget.

Nah, you'd get murdered by the Senate. Die with a knife in your back and the words, "Et tu, Bernie?" on your lips.

Tbh I don't even really think it's selfishness for a lot of people. If you divorce the ideas from the (very poor) marketing the Dems do for them most people broadly support an increased welfare state and such things, even among Republicans these ideas in their most basic form poll pretty well. The problems come when it's lumped in with the rest of the DNCs platform that drives a lot of people away.

Regardless of what label you think fits, those policies are labeled "socialism" by their proponents as well as their opponents.
Because in America, anything even mildy progressive is Socialist. Social Democracy, Social Liberalism, and, subjectively, Democratic Socialism, are not Socialist. They are Capitalists, but back a more worker-friendly form of the system. The word "Socialism" is, as San Lumen said, overused. Especially in America.

... are we still talking about me leading the place?
If I were actually in charge, I'd look up the best people at those jobs and hire them.Eahland wrote:Nah, you'd get murdered by the Senate. Die with a knife in your back and the words, "Et tu, Bernie?" on your lips.
That'd be a great way to go, ngl. But you're bold to think that the senate will still stick around.

Well, China has now come up as the bogeyman these days.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, noted poor conservative.

Medicare For All. She should have used the speakership as leverage to force a vote on Medicare For All, which would at least have shown everyone who is a real progressive and who is just bought and paid for health insurance firms and Big Pharma.
