Hey, do you guys need another Russian warlord?
I only ask because I think I have an idea involving Sablin around Tomsk (which appears to be unclaimed), but I probably won't go for it if 4 Russian warlords is all good with you guys.

Sure. It is open, so you can claim it.

This proxy war would be interesting with the third world movement with India. Turn the congo into a three way tug of war.

One could also argue that the ongoing issue with Cyprus could also constitute as a less intense proxy conflict. At least the implication brought by it being split in half and Turkey likely not being a fan of Italy still.

One thought I wanted to share, not as criticism but as a point of interest, is that unlike the USSR and the US, the US and Nazi Germany do not have competing economic systems. Both are capitalist nations, with the US focussing on investment capitalism and Germany focussing on industrial capitalism, though that is more a different flavour than a different economic system. I'm curious to see how socialism develops in this world, and perhaps also how the Third World is going to choose between spheres of influence now that their economics are not the primary motivator.

For example, the Federal Republic of Central America is pro-US, and that's mainly the case because US companies have basically bought the nation, but the switch to German influence might not be as big as the switch to communism would be.

Yes, that's true. It would be interesting to see how this affects the Third World.

I think socialism in the third world would probably be very fringe. For India, due to its size, could be the main leader for the Third World movement. India here under Nehru would combine capitalism with socialism to create a form of state capitalism with an heavier emphasis on worker's and farmer's rights.

Maybe the Third World would follow similar thoughts. Instead of completely usurping the capitalism philosophy with communism, the revolutionaries would try to reform capitalism away from predatory corporatism in favor of agrarian capitalism or socialism

There has always been a historical division between social democrats and socialists, including communists and anarchists. I find it doubtful that people from previously colonised areas would give up anti-capitalism.

Marxism, especially in European colonies, is still a thing (as it is mentioned in OP as well). So yeah, that would be true. But also I guess that some anti-colonial nationalist movements would be inspired by fascism as well. Fascism can be modified from Germanic/Italian supremacy to ethnic supremacy of X group, so it could be applicable to anti-colonial nationalist movements.

Seems like Tomsk is claimed already I'm afraid, the open bit in central Siberia is the bit north of the Angara up to the Laptev.

All of Central Asia except north/northeastern Kazakhstan is open for post-Soviet/Russian states though I think

Population: 27.6 Million

Ethnic Breakdown:

Religious Breakdown:

Type of Government: Unitary Presidential Constitutional Republic
Head of State: President İsmet İnönü
Head of Government: Prime Minister Fahri Korutürk
Legislature: Grand National Assembly of Turkey (Unicameral System)
Party in Power: Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi (CHP)
National Issues:
1. At an Impasse in Foreign Policy: Turkey's rather infamous neutrality throughout the Second World War had proven to had been both a blessing and a curse for it, as while the Turkish State has avoided the worst that WWII had wrought onto many other nations, the country now finds itself in an increasingly difficult position trying to balance its fragile foreign relations between the victorious Axis Powers, and the vengeful Allies. As despite any prior political maneuvering, Turkey has clearly found itself at an impasse it cannot sustain forever as a middling power of grand strategic importance in the Mediterranean. With growing tensions from both of the great alliances having the potential to boil over once more, Turkey must either find a new balance or cave in to the highest bidder willing to pay for their loyalty.

2. Increasing Clamor for Reforms: Despite what Kemalist rhetoric would suggest, Turkey effectively remains a one-party state with the CHP holding a rather tightening, undemocratic grip over the politics of the nation. With the 1950 General Election resulting in the refusal of President İsmet İnönü stepping down in the aftermath of a controversial voting recount, that at the end very deliberately favored him in spite of public outcry that the election had been rigged, İnönü has continued to remain the head of the state of country into the present. However his detractors had been working tirelessly for the past decade to slowly erode his legitimacy of power as the country's undisputed presidential dictator, with the likes of the Demokrat Parti under Celâl Bayar spearheading the efforts to bring true democracy to Turkey. Time will tell by the 1961 General Election whether it would be enough to remove the aging İnönü from power for good. Or whether more confrontational methods may be needed instead to fight the CHP's illiberal tyranny.

3. The Eternal Struggle For A Free Kurdistan: Since the Turkish War of Independence, the continued struggle of the Kurdish people to create a self-governing nation has remained an almost forever conflict against the Turkish State. However with recent developments such as the establishment of the PKK, or Kurdistan Workers' Party, the insurrection within Turkey's Southeast has resumed after prior decades of low-intensity fighting. With the strong likelihood of spilling over into the likes of Iraq, Syria, and Iran, the conflict remains at the forefront of an ongoing domestic crisis requiring the full-commitment of the Gendarmerie and elements of the Armed Forces in order to combat. It is crucial for the İnönü Regime that the fight for Kurdistan be stifled at all costs in order to secure regional stability and to provide a credible chance for reelection in 1961.

Public Goals: Keeping the peace on its side of the Mediterranean. Keeping itself as a viable "mediator" between NATO and the Pakt. Continuing to develop the nation and the economy.

History: During the Second World War, the strategically vital nation of Turkey had understandably hedged its bets on who would come out on top in the War in Europe. However as Soviet lines began to crumble away from the German onslaught, and the United Kingdom being forced to signed a peace agreement with the Reich. It became more clear than ever that its ever faithful leader, the still reigning President İsmet İnönü, would have to put some agreements in order to Berlin, despite any protests made by the Allied Powers. Turkey would continue its economic cooperation with the German Reich, with the mere promise of no threat to Turkey's sovereignty if they were to willingly turn a blind eye to the Führer's wicked 'game' of conquest. However this did not stop Turkey from accepting refugees into the country, and still maintaining active diplomacy with the Allies, as a sort of blatant 'backdoor' dealing.

President İnönü had sought to have Turkey be a 'middle-ground' of sorts, a gateway between Continental Europe and the rest of the world, with the Bosphorus acting as the 'colossus' to this uneasy, yet profitable arrangement. "Keep your potential enemies closer," was seemingly the grand plan to this political maneuvering into the immediate post-war years. However it did come with its close-calls.

As Britain was force to withdraw from the island of Cyprus, it became rather clear that it was only a matter of time before Italy would arrive shortly thereafter to occupy the entirety of the island with troops, putting much of the Turkish Cypriot at risk in the eyes of the İnönü regime. And since his popularity was on the line due to his rather aggressive neutrality policy, the Turkish Government had saw it fit to invade the north of the island in a gambit to secure much of the heavily concentrated Turkish population centers. However this led to Turkish forces running headfirst into Italian troops in what would remain a tense standoff to this day as the island was irreparably divided into north and south.

Eventually this would lead to Turkey seeking to sever its ties officially with Italy in what would later constitute as a microcosm of the Cold War in of itself, however in this case with Turkey requesting military equipment and aid from both the German Reich and Allies whenever possibly in this personal rivalry against the Italian Kingdom. With İnönü in recent years claiming that the Aegean Islands were rightful sovereign Turkish clay in order to spite both the Italians and their Greek puppet. It was clear to many that Turkey still had a bone to pick with Italy after all these decades.

However to İnönü's inner circle, this was but another plot to increase Turkey's own regional power, in its attempt to play both the Allies and Axis against one another and gain the most from the fallout of it. Whether this will inevitably pay off in spite of İnönü's advancing age and increasingly delicate internal politics involving the Democratic Party and PPK Insurgency playing havoc with the CHP's hold of power, remains to be seen as of New Year's 1960.

Looks like Cyprus is going to be another flashpoint- I could easily see skirmishes across the island erupting between Greek and Turkish Cypriots.

The Fascist Party would also be angry with Germany for selling weapons to the Turks due to the Cyprus dispute.

APPLICATION
NS Name: The National Dominion of Hungary
RP Name: The National Restoration Government of the Great Russian State
Flag:
Capital: Novosibirsk
Territory: Here
Population: Approx 32 500 000, exact count difficult.

Official Language(s): Russian.
Ethnic Breakdown: Russian (90%) / Kazakh (5%) / Other (Mostly Buryat / Altay / Khakas) (5%)
Religious Breakdown: Russian Orthodox (55%) / Muslim (5%) / Buddhist (5%) / Other-Irreligious-Atheist (35%)

Type of Government: Authoritarian Single-Party State.
Head of State: Lazar Kaganovich - Chief of State.
Head of Government: Grigory Semyonov - Premier.
Legislature: The State Duma of Russia.
Legislative Houses: The State Duma of Russia.
Party in Power: Party of Russian National Rebirth.
National Issues:

Aftermath of the Great Flight: After the Soviet Union fell to pieces, one of the greatest mass-migrations in human history followed as millions upon millions of people fled east across the Urals with whatever they could carry, as long as they could escape the genocidal Nazi regime chomping at their heels. Millions upon millions of these people saw themselves end up in the territory that is now under the control of the National Restoration Government, massive shantytowns and tent-cities have appeared alongside every city, somewhat sizable town and even village, specially along the line of the Trans-Siberian Railway. Inhabited by the millions upon millions of people who fled what is now the Reichkomissariats, these are places of utter destitution where crime and suffering is rife. It is clear the National Restoration Government will have to invest great amounts of money into agriculture, infrastructure, housing and all else needed to settle the refugees in expanded cities and new towns and rural villages where they can properly contribute to a new and properly revitalized economy.

The Tetrarchy of Novosibirsk: The National Restoration Government is largely under the control of four men brought together by chance, necessity and the whirlwind of the collapse of the Beria Regime. Former high-ranking Soviet officially who fell from Beria's grace and suffered side-by-side in a work-camp for political prisoners now work alongside returned émigrés and remnants of the White Army that once escaped into China. After tense standoffs in Irkutsk long discussions followed about the plight and suffering of Mother Russia, of Beria's tyranny and the policies of Lenin and Stalin. This led these unlikely men to form a new movement in an exhausted Russia. However, the regime of the Four Restorers has inherited a country rife with complete institutional disorder and rules over a Russian people who, after the famines and terror of Stalin's rule, the utter defeat at the hands of Nazi Germany and the horrors of the collapse and subsequent Beria Tyranny seem utterly disenchanted with... anything really. The National Restoration Government will have to prove that the new force of Russian Revivalism, a strange Frankenstein of an ideology that could only appear in this very set of circumstances can restore Russia and give the Russian peoples a new sense of confidence and faith in a brighter future worth fighting for.

Dilapidation and Isolation: The Vlasovite collaborators have Arkhangelsk, the separatist traitors of the Far East have Vladivostok. The Russian State on the other hand is cut off from the world's oceans and is thus in an even worse position to conduct any sort of larger or meaningful international trade and makes it more difficult for it to receive foreign aid, should any ever come. Not only is the country isolated, the internal situation is far from ideal, the road-networks, such as they are, can largely be summarized as dirt tracks and the state of the railways is growing worse by the year as the rails and trains alike are worn and production of tracks and engines need to be restarted in any meaningful scale.

Public Goals: Rebuild and revitalize national institutions and civil services / Rebuild the national infrastructure / Turn the Siberian Czernozem and Chestnut Soil Belts under it's control into new Russian heartlands / Rebuild and revitalize the economy / Maintain and improve internal and external security.

Private Goals: Reunite Russia, by force if need be. Conquer Kazakhstan and secure control over the rest of Central Asia. Annihilate Germany.

GDP: 26.5 Billion USD.
Currency: The Soviet Ruble is the most widespread in circulation.
Economic System: State Capitalism probably describes it best.
Major Trade Partners: China / Other Russian Warlords / Central Asian States
Alliance(s): None.

Military Branches:
The National Restoration Army of Russia.
The Russian Army.
The Russian Air Force.

Active Duty: 304 000 Troops.
Reserve Duty: 500 000 Reserves.
Total Manpower: Approx 8 000 000 military-age males fit for service.

Land Forces: The active forces keep a high level of readiness and training and are divided into three Military Districs, the Western one stands under the command of General Ivan Konev, the Middle one under the command of Leonid Chernykh and the Eastern one under the command of General Konstantin Rokossovsky. The troops are mostly equipped with old World War II-Era equipment in various states of repair and maintenance, from good to very dubious. Most small arms in the National Restoration Army's arsenal are the PPS-43 SMG's, PPSh-41 or SVT-40 and in some cases still old Mosin-Nagant rifles. The PPS-43's are the most common weapons due to their low cost and ease of production. Maxim MG's are often widely used due to a lack of more modern alternatives alongside BM37 and RM38 Mortars for fire support.

2 Armored Divisions (240 T-34/85's - 60 IS2's - 80 T70's - 24 Towed D-1's - 24 Towed K70's - 24 SU76's - 12 SU122's - 12 000 troops)
3 Cossack Divisions (64 T-34/85's - 64 BA-series Armored Cars - 48 Towed D-1's - 24 Towed K70's - 24 SU76's - 8000 troops)
4 Motor Rifle Divisions (54 T-34/85's - 12 KV1's - 24 T70's - 60 BA-series Armored Cars - 300 BTR-152's - 34 Towed D-1's - 24 Towed K70's - 36 SU76's - 24 SU122's - 12 000 troops )
12 Infantry Divisions (24 T70's - 48 BA-series Armored Cars - 48 Towed D-1's - 24 Towed ML20's - 24 Towed ZIS3's - 24 Towed K70's - 14 000 troops)

Air Force: The Russian Air Force consists of 40 000 troops. Thanks to Irkutsk, Chita and Ulan-Ude being a significant centers of the old Soviet aerospace industry and aircraft manufacture before the fall of the Soviet Union, these cities often became the destinations for evacuated areal industries from the west. The National Restoration Government has inherited these industries and their workers and through that managed to build up a quite capable, sizable and well-supplied air force when compared to other post-Soviet Successors. While it is mostly made up of older WW2-Era propeller models, the technological know-how is there on how to build jet aircraft such as the MiG-15 or MiG-17 which have been made in some limited production as the National Restoration Government currently cannot handle any kind of mass-scale jet aircraft production. The pride and joy of the NRG's Air Force is the ground support arm, consisting of 160 IL-10's in good repair flown by skilled pilots. The fighter force is largely made up of MiG-3's, Yak-9's and new LA-9's. Meanwhile, 47 LI-2's make up an important logistical supply force in a region with poor infrastructure. A handful of old Lend-Lease Airacobras and Havocs are also in service.

124 Yak-9's
110 MiG-3's
64 LA-9's
48 P-39's

84 PE-2's
102 IL DB-3's
22 A-20 Havoc's

64 IL-2's
160 IL-10's

28 MIG-15's.
6 MIG-17's
12 TU-12's

47 Li-2's

24 Air Defense Force Regiments (24 Towed K52's / 36 Towed K70's / 36 AA MG's, mostly DshK's or Quad-mounted Maxims)

Naval Forces:

12 Improvised armed riverine barges.

Other Military Information: N/A.

History: In the chaos of the collapse of the Soviet Union some tried to organize the chaos, to reorganize, to rebuild and to fight back in order to drive the Nazi menace all the way back to Berlin. As chaos gripped Moscow with German troops drawing ever closer, NKVD Commander Lavrentiy Beria ordered the evacuation of the city. As part of this evacuation the various organs of the Soviet government were given top priority in order to rebuild the apparatus of state east of the Urals. Many former officials and government agencies arrived in Novosibirsk, tasked with rebuilding the organs of state and use the city as the temporary capital of the Soviet Union until Moscow could be reconquered. Meanwhile, heavy fighting was ongoing along the Volga and in the north in the bloody Battle of Arkhangelsk. With the lines of communication severed, mass-confusion in every echelon of government and the infrastructural systems totally clogged by an incomprehensibly large mass of civilians fleeing in panic from the west while confused, newly-raised divisions headed in the opposite direction to reinforce the front, Beria installed himself in Novosibirsk and began ruling the remnants of the Soviet Union with an iron fist, anyone suspected of opposition to the new NKVD-led regime was arrested and either killed in the nearest makeshift NKVD prison or taken to an even more makeshift work-camp where most would soon die of malnutrition and exposure.

As the Soviet Union continued to fracture, Beria's NKVD "Securocracy" lost control of the west as units of the Red Army finally mutinied the the Far East as contact was lost with Vladivostok. In the chaos, three men who had been thrown together by circumstance in one of Beria's gulags rose to prominence. They were Lazar Kaganovich, former high-ranking government official under Stalin. His brother Mikhail Kaganovich, a high-level Communist Party functionary and Vsevolod Merkulov, NKVD Commander, once one of Beria's chief lieutenants who had been purged for taking part in a growing internal anti-Beria faction of the NKVD. These men, fallen from their lofty positions of power and privilege now did back-breaking labor side by side in the Siberian work-camps, as they labored, they also reflected, talked into the small hours of the night. About Mother Russia and her plight, and they were not the only ones, in exile in China, former Émigrés in the clique of former Cossack Commander Grigory Semyonov did the same. Once dreaming of reclaiming their homeland from the Red Terror, they reflected on Mother Russia's plight under the rule of the Tzars. Where did they all fail? Where did they succeed? As the Beria regime collapsed, the three former prisoners escaped and got to Irkutsk and immediately got to work, securing control over the local government and ensuring the support of the troops in the region which were under the command of general Rokossovsky. Unbeknownst to them however, a threat was coming from the South, Semyonov marched on Irkutsk at the head of over 20 000 Cossacks.

A bloody battle was narrowly avoided as Semyonov's and Rokossovsky's men squared off against each other. Instead, days of tense negotiations followed, followed by weeks of even more tense negotiations. Followed by the formation of what was probably the most unlikely alliance possible, former communists standing alongside old aristocrats, both their worlds lost in blood, fire and fury. Determined to bring about a new future for their beloved Mother Russia, one where the excesses of Tzarism and Communism alike will never be allowed to make Russia weak and vulnerable ever again. Solidifying their hold over Irkutsk and Krasnoyark, it was time to reclaim the temporary capital, Novosibirsk, which languished under the rule of Beria supported by General Kliment Voroshilov and a clique of former Red Army officers who were hardline Stalinist loyalists. The fighting was fierce, but in the end, the new National Restoration Government managed to break the Novosibirsk junta from within, after turning General Konev and his troops to their cause, the fall of Novosibirsk came quickly in mid-1957.

As the National Restoration Government took control over the remnants of the government in Novosibirsk, they now stand before the seemingly monumental task of rebuilding the territories under their control and forging them into a coherent entity. The first step in the restoration of the great Russian nation, not only restoration but true rise to it's full potential. Guided by their new Revivalist ideology, a strange Frankenstein of an ideology one could only get from locking Lazar Kaganovich, Nikita Khrushchev and an old Tzarist Cossack into a room for a few week. The "Restorers" are setting out to rebuild. Rebuild the infrastructure, rebuild the economy, rebuild the military and perhaps most importantly rebuild the Russian people's faith in a better tomorrow. It is a momentous task indeed, but the Restorers have vowed not to allow the tragedies that have befallen Mother Russia to be the last gasp this noble country. To this end, the Novosibirsk Government stands ready to embark on the long road to the restoration and revitalization of all Russia.

And one day, perhaps, the full measure of justice can finally be meted out on the Teutons who ruined it.
