Please assume YES for all answers in the Permission Box – just TG me first if it's particularly insane and/or egregious. Also, anything COVID related can do one.

Beginning their football journey way back in the second Baptism of Fire competition, Krytenia are one of the oldest national teams still competing in international football. With five World Cups hosted, as well as a smattering of AOCAFs, Cups of Harmony, Baptism of Fires, and even a CAFA Cup, they also have a deserved reputation for organising top-level football competitions. What they don't have, though, is a reputation for winning. They are yet to win a World Cup; in fact, they have only reached one final, losing to Aguazul in World Cup 58. Five semi-final defeats are what set the tone for the Dragons – indeed, losing in the semis of a major competition is known as the “Krytenian Curse”. That said, there is silverware in their cabinet. Having created the AOCAF Cup, Krytenia eventually won the fifty-second iteration of the competition; more recently, they won Cup of Harmony 78 and nearly added a second two cycles later, losing to fellow co-hosts Græntfjell on home soil.

They may have a reputation as the multiverse's nearly men, but never let yourself be deluded that the Krytenians are defeatist. Even though they may come up short, it's a very rare thing to see a Dragons team simply give up. Be aware that when the sky blue shirts are on the field, you will be in for a tough game, and victory will always be hard-earned.

Image
Manager – BRELK-XERAL Erv (QUS), Age 62
Started their career in their native Qusmo, where they brought first KF Atlov and then Atlov Juzuna to prominence (or at least relevance) in the domestic and international game. This led to them getting the national team job at Brenecia, which resulted in a Campeonato Esportiva trophy. Having replaced Richard Valens in the hotseat – and then faced off against him three times in their first cycle as Valens landed the Ochre Islands job - “BXE” has hit a bit of a logjam in terms of moving the team forward.

Assistant Manager – Graham LAWTON, Age 51
A surprise appointment, but one in keeping with the philosophy of Brelk-Xeral Erv. Lawton has ascended to the role from his stint as manager of Ashton Olympic's Under-21 setup, and will be on board to help develop the younger players in the squad. Has already built a rapport with BXE, with the pair's approaches to the game complimenting each other nicely.

Goalkeeping Coach – Aaron SHEPHERD, Age 44
Defensive Coach – Andrew THORNTON, Age 57
Offensive Coach – Alex VINELLI, Age 49
Physiotherapist – Stephen WILLIS, Age 63

Image

Logan CAMPBELL
Age: 33
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Caledon Simpson

Hair like a surfer, hands safe as houses. Campbell looks like a poster boy for a completely different sport, but he's no slouch between the sticks.

Image

Gabriel ALMADA
Age: 25
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Avidia United

A safe pair of hands, though could work on his positioning. Almada's distribution, on the other hand, is top notch.

Image

Amanda BACH
Age: 19
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Caversham

Given Krytenia's non-segregated approach to football and the nation's propensity for producing talented goalkeepers, it's perhaps surprising that Bach is the first woman called up to the national side. The Caversham stopper seems to be made up entirely of limbs; her teammates have steered into this skid by nicknaming her “The Black Widow” - after the spider, before anyone asks.

Image
Image

Justin DARCY
Age: 22
Position: Right-back
Club: Mercia Bromham

Bombastic wing-back who fits right in with BXE's attacking philosophy. Looks more comfortable with the ball at his feet than trying to win it back off opposing wingers.

Image

David GREEN
Age: 27
Position: Left-back
Club: Ousevale Borough

Pace for days, decent positioning, can be a liability with his tackling. Let's just say his Ousevale team-mates are well-drilled in defending free kicks from wide positions.

Image

Gavin HEALEY
Age: 30
Position: Centre back
Club: Mercia Bromham

Cultured centre-back with top-notch ball playing skills. So full of running, you'd swear he was powered by the mains.

Image

Sonny CHIESA
VICE-CAPTAIN
Age: 28
Position: Centre-back
Club: Tanques AOE (KOR)

Maturing like a fine wine in Ko-oren, where he's added steel to his smarts. Not the quickest but has the yards in his head.

Image

Stephen LORIMER
Age: 24
Position: Left-back
Club: Ashton Olympic

Solid full-back with excellent positioning skills. Lorimer does, however, lack the pure pace and adventurousness preferred by Brelk-Xeral Erv, hence his place on the bench.

Image

Richard McGOWAN
Age: 24
Position: Right-back
Club: Caledon Simpson

Feet of a ballet dancer, face only a mother could love.

Image

Robert GORMAN
Age: 23
Position: Centre-back
Club: Bradwell Saints

A thinking man's defender, Gorman is a calm head on young shoulders. Not the best in the air, but makes up for it with accuracy in the tackle and excellent distribution.

Image

Malcolm KIRSTEN
Age: 25
Position: Centre-back
Club: Royal Emberton

A fan of the “Sarzie Rules” version of handegg but lacked the skillset for that sport. Transitioned to football when he discovered he was pretty good at kicking the round ball; linebackers make for good defenders, apparently.

Image
Image

Savannah QUINN
CAPTAIN
Age: 27
Position: Central midfield
Club: Straudum VV (KOR)

Surprisingly few women make it into the national team squad, despite Krytenian football not being gender-segregated. Quinn is absolutely here on merit, though, and in World Cup 92 became the first woman to captain the side. An absolute dervish with the ball at her feet; her and Scott Stringer will be looking to be the fulcrum of the Dragons' attack once again.

Image

Scott STRINGER
Age: 31
Position: Central midfield
Club: Ousevale Borough

The central midfield position is the centre of gravity around which the Krytenian attack orbits, and there are some who felt that young Stringer wouldn't be up to the task. Ousevale fans, though, knew better, with favourable comparisons to the great Ricky Sexton being bandied about amongst the Southern Arena faithful thanks to his sublime skills on the ball. Silenced the doubters emphatically when he exploded onto the scene in Cup of Harmony 82. Now in his thirties, he knows time is running out for a chance at glory with the national team.

Image

Owen HALLER
Age: 20
Position: Left midfield
Club: Emberton Reds

Free-kick specialist and deadly accurate in the pass. Having Darcy behind him should allow Haller to cut inside and create havoc in the middle of the park as well.

Image

Liam HAYES
Age: 27
Position: Right midfield
Club: Mercia Bromham

Tall for a winger at 6'3”, and looks like he should be tripping over his own feet. Despite this, is deceptively skillful with the ball at his feet. Will drift in to threaten the box if the ball is on the other flank; with Haller doing the same on the opposite side, expect headaches for opponents.

Image

Leon JONAS
Age: 31
Position: Left midfield
Club: Casuals Osteria

Cerebral winger. Not the fastest, but knows his angles; could probably cross the ball through the window of a moving car. Likely to be a better option if BXE wants to use the width of the pitch.

Image

Simon MASARI
Age: 26
Position: Right midfield
Club: Casuals Osteria

Has the unenviable task of replacing Robert Reeder in the national team. Seems apt that he's broken through at Reeder's old stomping ground, then. Loves a stepover, will try and create separation for a cross.

Image

Niall MONAGHAN
Age: 28
Position: Central midfield
Club: Emberton Hibernians

Slide-rule levels of passing accuracy; built like a twig, though, and can be a little easy to muscle off the ball.

Image
Image

Mark PETRACCHI
Age: 25
Position: Half-forward
Club: Emberton Reds

Marauding forward, comfortable playing as a target man but prefers creating space and confusion in front of the defensive line. Has the unenviable task of stepping into the shoes of Cande Montalban.

Image

Angus JACK
Age: 22
Position: Striker
Club: WSR AFC (KOR)

In the words of the Cyan Army:

“He's just A. Jack in the box, from the region with a fox, and he can score just about anything....”

Image

Gil SANCHEZ
Age: 21
Position: Striker
Club: Avidia United

”El Tiburón” (The Shark) to his team-mates, Sanchez is always on the move looking for a juicy morsel of a pass to get his teeth into. Can be “a bit” tempramental, in the same way that Jupiter is “a bit” big.

Image

Ben STEWART
Age: 24
Position: Half-forward
Club: Mercia Bromham

Loves to speed down the channels, creating chances for his fellow front-men. Lacks a bit of commitment in the shot himself, though.

Image
Image
“System Erv”, named for...well, take a guess, is on the face of it a 4-2-3-1. With the Krytenians on the ball, however, expect this to change quickly to a 4-2-4 as the second line pushes up to support the striker. The two holding midfielders will be the fulcrum of the attack; expect the ball to move quickly between light blue shirts, especially on the counter. Press, pace, and overloading and overwhelming opposition defences will be the order of the day.

Off the ball, Krytenia will play a high line; they may be vulnerable to balls over the top – if opposition attackers can time their runs to avoid the offside and beat the Dragons' defenders for pace.

As the brevity bonus has been a staple of several CAFAs now, there will indeed be a vote on its inclusion, as well as the word limit if it is included and the available bonus for achieving that limit. I will be upfront and say there there will be no options that mandate a hard limit. Write 200 words, write 2,000 - there will be no penalty.

Team: Osarius National Football Team (aka "The Firebirds")
Style modifier: +2.5 aggressive press

Manager: Isaia Urso
Captain: Luther Fox
Vice-captain: Benito Bucatini
3rd captain: Ekene Uzo

My RP Permissions are pretty chill to be honest.
Pretty much anything goes, I only ask that you let me decide the severity of any injuries you decide to RP for me, please.
Send my players off if you must -- if it's a player I really didn't wanna lose for the next game, I'll RP an appeal or something.
Oh and at the risk of sounding a bit "RAWR" ... do not kill any of my players or coaching staff (unless I say go ahead via TG).
Killing fans is okay though. Go nuts with that if you like.

Kit Colours:
After a seemingly endless run with Corradini Sportswear, the new Osarius kits are produced by Audioslavian manufacturer Kirola. They are designed in conjunction with high-end fashion designer Giovanni Careva, leading to a Kirola x Careva line labelled Kareva.

Manager: Image Isaia Urso
After the events of the last CAFA Cup, Odell McIntosh announced his retirement from the world of football, leading the OFA to call, yet again, on Isaia Urso. Dominic Jordan once again stays on as her assistant, though Urso herself is more than a little frustrated that McIntosh's long-time assistant still does not appear ready for the rigours of management. She has resolved herself to prepare him in time for the next CAFA Cup, whether she admits this publicly or not. There is no lack of joy in managing her country's national team, but she would be lying if she claimed it was something she planned to do.

As in her previous stint, she has made no changes to the setup, or personnel in the Firebirds camp, aiming only to change approach. She has, however, learned from her last stint that naming herself in the squad may not be the best idea this time around.

The Squad
The name in ALLCAPS is typically the surname of the player, but not always. This is what will be on the back of their shirt, however.

OOC: in case you forgot, "puppet" of Osarius

Cobrio National Football Team

Image
CFF Logo designed by ediraf

((OOC: see this factbook for an explanation of terms used here))

ABOUT
The Cobrio national football team is operated under the auspices of the Cobre Football Federation (CFF), to represent the Independent State of Cobrio in international competition.

While the team has existed in some form for around a century at this point -- it was formed during the 2220s while Cobrio sought to gain independence from Osarius, only participating in friendly tournaments and the Rabastor Unity Trophy -- it is only during the past quarter century or so, that Cobrio's national team has been officially recognised by the World Cup Committee. The team's first game after official recognition was a 3-3 draw against Osarius at Tukari Kaita National Stadium -- a newly built stadium near Camaron, the official capital of Cobrio. This stadium also serves as the home venue for the national team.

((On an OOC note, it is perhaps of particular note that the nation of Cobrio has access to, and mastery of, some post-modern/future tech. Not quite interstellar travel level of future tech, but concepts like full-brain emulation and near-universal healing methodology are very much real things in 24th-century Cobrio. Basically, if it exists in Wakanda, it probably exists in Cobrio or is achievable in the next half-century.))

KITS
The Cobrio kits are provided by ediraf and designed to represent the nation's deep cultural heritage. The home kits are primarily gold, but incorporate the adinkra -- traditional Cobre symbols said to confer various qualities upon the wearer -- and the other colours of the national flag (green and black).

The away kits are designed in a similar fashion to the traditional uniform of initiates to the zabamince wadanda, in recognition of the honour of being selected. They are almost all black, which is said to represent the void one must embrace when entering battle. The adinkra also feature along the hem, to confer their power upon the wearer.

The goalkeeper kits are primarily green, to represent the land from which the team hails. Cobre culture exalts the land, as it is from the land that all nourishment comes, in some form or another. Traditional beliefs also state that Olugun, the Father of the Irunashe, created man from plant material in the beginning. As with the other kits, the adinkra also feature here, on the sleeves, as a goalkeeper's arms and hands are considered most important.

PLAYING STYLE
Under head coach Marvelous Koleoso, Cobrio have morphed from a cautious "Osarian 4-3-3" (with a dedicated defensive midfielder) to an expansive, adventurous 3-1-2-4 system (if we're nitpicking it's more like a weird 3-5-2, but let's not get into that debate today) that plays high, and presses aggressively. This has resulted in a far more entertaining spectacle for fans, and has, as a result, seen the popularity of the sport recover to near pre-war levels. It comes with an inherent risk in the defensive phase, but it's generally seen as "worth it".

Struggles in the nation over the past few decades -- rebuilding the football scene after the lengthy war; political upheaval in the wake of the Tukarist movement on the far left -- have led to a limited degree of football education for the majority of players. This is slowly beginning to correct, as younger players emerge from the well-funded community facilities pushed by the many Tukarist representatives across the nation, and veterans adjust to their new roles. Koleoso is making great use of these emerging talents, too, focusing his squad selections quite heavily on this "new wave" of Cobre footballers.

These developments have not quite filtered down to facilitate wholesale tactical adjustment, though, and Cobre football still tends to focus more on athleticism and instinct than tactics and technique. It must be stressed that this should not be mistaken for a lack of tactical acumen, or technical ability, though. The team is exceptionally well-drilled -- Lieutenant Owusu's militaristic training style is something that Koleoso shares to some degree, as do many other Cobrans, given the nation's policy of compulsory military service, which was only recently rescinded -- and while not at the elite level (yet), it is important to note that these are still professional footballers of the highest level in their country, frequently competing against Osarians (who are known for their tactical and technical exactingness). In recent years, though, Koleoso has adopted a larger willingness to allow certain players more freedom too, which will be interesting to see in this tournament, as it could lead to even more exciting attacking play from the Panthers as their more technically gifted players are "unshackled".

PERSONNEL

Manager
Marvelous Koleoso
Koleoso has throughout his career, often been dismissed as having his head in the clouds, but he is, in fact, an extremely insightful manager. While the criticisms are not entirely baseless -- he does have lofty ideals for what he considers "proper Cobre football" -- he is nevertheless capable of providing his teams with the tools needed to succeed. Much like other well-regarded Cobre coaches such as Emeka Obasi, or Daniel Kunde, Koleoso's strengths lie in organisation and man-management. Some believe his system expects too much of particularly young players or those over thirty, and this would not be an entirely unfair appraisal. Koleoso knows this, though, and his squad selection largely reflects this, with most players falling between the ages of 23 and 29. For this CAFA Cup, he has consciously made the decision to ignore a lot of established players, and has selected a squad almost entirely aged within what many would consider "prime athletic years"; that is, early to mid 20s. When pressed on this, Koleoso responded "we dey meet failure when we dey run wid de old, and failure when we dey run wid de young; so we come to fork in Cobre road, na. But tek de left or de right we dey go do in de past. So today, Marvelous lead de panthers tek new path. Through de middle, na."

Koleoso's decision to repurpose the various, versatile wingers at his disposal into advanced pressers -- as a means to conceal their defensive shortcomings -- while shunting the team's personnel forward in general underlines the main way in which he deviates from the typical Cobre coaching mentality. Most Cobre coaches are neutral, or perhaps a little reactive by nature, tending toward a cautious offense built on a well-organised defence... Koleoso disregards that and goes for a proactive, entertaining approach above all else. "Football is entertainment first," he says. "Of course we are coming to win, but winning without the cheering of the crowd for what you do on the pitch... this is not victory, na."

Squad

NOTE: Higher squad numbers typically denote lower chances of being selected for any given match.

GOALKEEPERS

## Name Pos Age Club

1 Fortune MAHLANGU^ G 26 [CBR] Pantera Azul
12 Claude MOFUTSANYANA G 21 [CBR] Shanak FC
24 Henry KING G 18 [LMG] Haestacre Combination

As expected, Mahlangu takes the number one shirt, with Koleoso apparently judging Mofutsanyana to be "not quite ready", though you suspect it wouldn't take a lot for the twenty-one year old to get a shot. Meanwhile, the shock inclusion of teenage goalkeeping phenom Henry King appears to largely be down to his expertise at saving penalties...

DEFENDERS

## Name Pos Age Club

2 Olanrewaju JEGEDE D RC 22 [CBR] Raizal Fenyangi
3 Udo IFEJIAGWA D LC 24 [OSR] Utica United
5 Ayotunde JONKONNU D C 25 [CBR] Negus Koromanti
6 Algernon FOX D C 23 [OSR] Firewood City
15 Mongezi CHONGUICA D/DM C 22 [CBR] Dynapolis United
17 Sonia RUSHDAN* D RLC 25 [CBR] Pantera Azul
19 Charity NTSHOKO* D RLC 25 [CBR] Pantera Azul

Versatile defenders Rushdan and Ntshoko know each other (and Mahlangu) well from club level, which would be a valuable asset at international level... but Koleoso appears to favour the well-balanced trio of Jegede, Ifejiagwa, and Jonkonnu as his starters. Algernon Fox -- cousin of Luther Fox, the Osarian captain -- is likely the first option to step in if anything goes wrong, or a change in system is required.

Chonguica seems more likely to be called on to fill in for Dabiri in midfield, but his ball-playing ability should serve the Panthers well if they need to take a more patient build up approach, in which case we could easily see him step in on the right side of that back three (being right footed) to provide another creative option.

MIDFIELDERS

## Name Pos Age Club

4 Okomfo DABIRI DM C 24 [CBR] Jraxville FC
8 Maisha THABANE* M C 25 [AQL] Bahia Rojo
16 Idris BELAFONTE M C 21 [AQL] Bahia Rojo
20 Kamal MUTOMBO M C 25 [CBR] Raizal Fenyangi
22 Clement HANI AM C 22 [OSR] Newhaven Athletic
25 Ugontu EMECHETA M C 24 [CBR] Ologun Camaron

The partnership of Thabane and Belafonte was crucial in Bahia Rojo's second title win last season (making it two titles and three top three finishes in three years) and Roque Acosta's side play an exciting, attacking system that Marvelous Koleoso clearly admires. By anchoring them with the disciplined Dabiri, he can effectively allow them to "run free".

The presence of Mutombo should be enough to terrify most opposition when he's called upon -- the 6'4", 220 lb midfielder is frighteningly quick, and a ferocious ball-winner -- while Emecheta will likely be used as a transitional player as needed. The surprise inclusion here is Clement Hani, who, two years ago plied his trade at Virtus Stelle Cocento, way down the league pyramid. His performances as a twenty year old were reminsicent of a young Toby Drummond -- in particular his "masterclass" against Hastmead Diamante in the round of sixteen -- and a major part in Stelle's run to the quarter finals of the Rabastor Champions' Cup, leading to a bidding war for his signature. Newhaven won out, primarily due to their ability to effectively guarantee playing time, but his career has not quite taken off as expected. Yet. Koleoso however, has been quoted as saying that Hani "just needs to be free", suggesting the young playmaker could yet form a crucial part of the gaffer's plans for this tournament and beyond.

FORWARDS

## Name Pos Age Club

7 Anthony MONAGHAN F R 22 [AQL] Bahia Rojo
9 Zephekor NGOZI F C 23 [CBR] Jraxville FC
10 Mwanga ORIZU F C 24 [OSR] Neahri Angels
11 Odueko AZUONYE F LC 20 [CBR] Raizal Fenyangi
14 Chiemeka OSUNWA F RLC 21 [CBR] Negus Koromanti
18 Jabulani DYANTYI* F RC 24 [OSR] Neahri Angels
21 Oluwasegun ADELABU F L 21 [CBR] Ologun Camaron
23 Nosekeni MADHUKU* F RLC 22 [CBR] Dynapolis United

The thing about Koleoso's system is that it effectively dictates the need for a lot of forwards. And boy, is he spoiled for choice in that area. Once again, he has turned to some "known quantities" in the form of Ngozi, and the Neahri duo of Orizu and Dyantyi -- the latter two of whom have an excellent partnership at club level. The fourth starting spot is taken by Raizal Fenyangi's newest young hope, Azuonye. An academy graduate with blistering pace and a seemingly tireless motor, he ticks every one of Koleoso's boxes for a wide forward, since his primary job will be to pressure the opposition in their own third and facilitate scoring opportunities on the break.

Anthony Monaghan will be a little aggrieved not to be considered a starter, given his form for Bahia Rojo, but in handing him the number seven shirt, Koleoso has sent something of a message. He's not naive, and understands the importance of shirt numbers, after all. Adelabu, like Azuonye, is another recent academy graduate who will be looking to make a splash at international level in this tournament. However, he will likely be restricted to late cameos if Azuonye performs as expected, only getting minutes when it's necessary for Koleoso to rest his first choice left winger.

The remainign two spots go to young, versatile forwards Osunwa and Madhuku. Neither is a regular starter for their club side, notably, but Koleoso#s love of versatility works heavily in their favour here. Capable of filling any role across the front four competently, they appeal to the gaffer's sense of pragmatism.

Projected Starting Lineup:
3-1-2-4: Mahlangu; Ifejiagwa, Jonkonnu, Jegede; Dabiri; Thabane (c), Belafonte; Azuonye, Ngozi, Orizu, Dyantyi

NOTE: If Thabane doesn't play, the captain's armband goes to the oldest player on the pitch (excluding the goalkeeper). If multiple players have the same listed age, it's your choice. I'll make it work.

RP Permissions:
Do whatever you like, except killing people (if you have a good idea, feel free to run it by me). Mostly, I just want this to be fun :)
I reserve the right to use "magical spine-healing technology" (looking at you, T'Challa) on my players if you injure someone I had plans for, though.
Finally free of the oppressive yoke of the Osarian Kingdom.

CAFA V SQUAD - ISLES OF THE DEAD

BASIC INFORMATION
Nation: Community of the Isles of the Dead
Trigramme: IOD
Colours: Black, White, Grey
Formation: 3-3-2-2
Style: -5
Player-Manager: 1834. See below.

The Isles of the Dead are a group of rocky, desolate isles located in the middle of Blood Sea, the dark, tempestuous body of water that separate Anaia and Rushmore.

Year-round population of 57, with the seasonal population going up to several-hundred's. Weather there is usually nice and all that with a fair bit of clouds and light showers. Where in the Blood Sea and how close to other Anaian nations may be up to dear reader. Unfortunately, it is off-access to most people, which most likely includes you.

Queb (Isles of the Dead), in a discord chat wrote:[In the event you win the bid] when do we expect MD1 to occur?

Great question; with the holiday period around the corner I recognise that people may be busy. In the event I win the bid, I will release the questionnaire immediately as well as put up the IC and collate votes over a 72 hour period, as outlined in the bid. To give people ample time to prepare for the format, I can see the first scorination occurring as early as the 8th December. Assuming cutoffs every 48h, that gives us eight RP cut-offs between the 8th and 22nd, which I believe should be enough to complete the tournament. In the event that a very numerous matchday format is chosen, 2/48 scorination will be used. I am proposing a hard cap of no more than 10 RP-cut-offs to be used for this tournament. In the event that all 10 need to be used, a small hiatus will occur from the 24th-28th December, where no scorination will occur. I can therefore say with certainty that this tournament will be finished by the end of December.

Thank you very much to Plough for collecting the votes, and thank you to everyone that has placed their faith in me. I will be leaving signups open for a bit longer so we can get closer to a nice number, as with 25 entrants we're just over the much divisible number of 24. I'd love to get to 32, but it seems unlikely, so 28 or 30 would be an ideal number of signups. If you know any Anaians that aren't currently in the tournament, give them a buzz and let them know.

The Google Form is primed and ready, but some of the questions are dependant on the number of teams we have entering, so I will hold fire until we have finalised those numbers. You will still have a full 72 hours to vote when the form opens, so don't worry about missing it.

Official Roster for the 5th CAFA Cup

About Huayramarca: The Plurinational State of Huayramarca, also known as ”Huayramarca Mamallaqta” in Quechua and ”Huayramarca Suyu” in Aymara (literally: Windy Country), is an extraordinarily diverse nation in terms of geography that’s located in Anaia. Crossing three time zones, from the islands, reaching the coast, hiking the mountains, and then sliding into the jungle, passing massive cordilleras, a nation with 36 million inhabitants that is composed by 9 ethnical groups.

Huayramarca as is a relatively new nation for the traditional standards of it, it was constituted on 1822 (currently, we sit on 1984 according to the Inca Calendar), the main focus of building this nation was to help different ethnic groups to gather force into the region, in order to be recognized multiversally as a nation, hence, may gather some international protection in case their rights would be abused suddenly by an external force.

Being completely ignorant on what was happening on the neighbourhood, the Aymara, Quechua, Shuar, Guarani, Montubio, Tsáchila, Huaorani, Andoa and Candoshi ethnics decided to form the Republic with the support of neighbouring nations such as the Royal Kingdom of Québec.

Until the middle XX century, Huayramarca managed to survive economically from llama, alpaca and vicuña herding, since its skins are highly valuable in neighbouring Québec due to their strong winters; also, coffee production helped Huayramarca to build some solid institutions that promoted national expansion near the neighbouring Cocoabo Forest, that place is “La Selva”, a lush but quite dangerous forest with hundreds of rivers that come from the Andes. After some years of exploration, the authorities met the first indigenous peoples of the zone, which were exploited in order to produce rubber for tires and some mysterious chickens that were produced to do even more mysterious sacrifices to a deity, which the local people and even the rest of Huayramarca wasn’t able to understand how she works, granted, it’s not even a part of the Incan Mythology which includes Inti(the Sun god) and others.

Said abuses committed against the jungle inhabitants caused a heavy political turmoil around 1950, which formed a divide in the nation that remains until today: Serranos (highlanders), Costeños (coastals) against selváticos (jungle inhabitants); Those divides weren’t noticeable in economic terms but politically, with constant attempts of coup d’état against the government.

Aymara and Quechua peoples took the power during the remaining part of the 50’s until 1969. On that period, Huayramarca suffered the effects of a severe number of “huaycos” (mudslides) caused by heavy rainstorms across the entire Huayramarcan Sierra, those events killed at least 300,000 people and urged for an attempt to reincorporate Huayramarca back into normality, but, how? The main bet of the government was to aim for the tourism industry, spamming the developed nations of Anaia in order to make some tourists visit sacred places such as Illimani (a mountain that’s devoted as god for the Aymara folk), Huayna Picchu (the royal Incan palace for Quechua) and the sun-drenched coast ranging from Guayaquil to Lima (specially Montañita, the best beach par excellence in northern Anaia).

The formula was working decently, since the economy was reporting high growth numbers, but seemed to cause some lack of satisfaction on certain zones of the country, especially on the Jungle. Their inhabitants decided to support the Costeño elite to beat the Serrano government. 1969 election would be marked for the Huayramarcan history by the magnitude of the sabotage made against the current government, to the point of bribery or killings for their supporters.

Currently, Huayramarca has a huge wealth gap between zones, the coast boasts the fact of being the economic engine of the nation even though the capital city is in the Sierra, while the Jungle is slowly developing with some cities such as Sechura, Florencia, Virú and several others boosted by oil findings and rubber production. Sierra may be in disadvantage, but recent developments in neighbouring nations may make them turn relevant once again in the nation, since lithium batteries demand is growing up and Huayramarca’s Sierra possesses one of the biggest reserves of said mineral of the entire multiverse.

Basically, Huayramarca is a nation of contrasts and never—ending conflicts that’s well into the deep borehole named “the natural resource course” a hard situation to overcome due to the lack of proper education, critical thinking, and result-focused mindset on the population, that constantly seeks for shelter in entertainment industries such as soap operas, music, and now football. From power struggles between Costeño elites and Serrano social movements such as Ñucanchi Ñan, who uprose against Hugo Mina, a Costeño president, to defend the Aymara holy land of Mount Illimani from mining exploitation to the current political order, where Ñucanchi Ñan rules comfortably.

The focus of the mainstream agenda is over sustainable economic growth, taking care of the environment and inclusion of minorities, something that is accepted by the people in the nation. This environment has led to an increase in nationalism, since the national unity is being fostered as a State Policy; sports, especially football is being the main vehicle to promote that sense. As for now, the Huayramarcan Football Federation budget has been increased twenty times to aim for success in short-term.

Huayramarcan Football History: As a society, Huayramarcans enjoy sports, especially when politics may turn the nation into a chaos every second, they just want to run away from that horrible and desperate situation and may try luck on football.

Considering the levels of poverty on Huayramarca, young people may give a shot for football in the chaotic Liga 1 or lower tiers, with the hopes of achieving a decent salary that may help their families to get away from poverty and huayco-prone neighbourhoods. Liga 1 has fourteen teams from various parts of the country, mostly focused on the Sierra and Costa regions since those are the most heavily populated ones. The recent decisions taken in the Government and the Huayramarcan Football Federation, where they ended a ban on transferring players to foreign teams, has filled with optimism and illusion an entire generation of youngsters, that now aim to be another Huayramarcan playing abroad.

Immediately after the HFF creation, the president of the Plurinational State, Hugo Mina (Costeño), thought it would be a great idea to form a fringe squad for the AOCAF and then try to make it into Baptism of Fire or World Cup Qualifiers, hence he asked for Eliezer González (head of the Huayramarcan Football Federation) to try and apply for said tournaments. He sent notes to sign-up for those events, but he sent them incorrectly, at AOCAF, he sent it to a grandmother living up near the Andean Organization for Coffee, Agriculture and Forests (located at Cumbayá) instead of sending it to the proper AOCAF tournament organizing committee, which turned González into laughingstock for several weeks in Huayramarca. Despite that, González managed to sign-up properly for the WC, despite he was rejected for BoF because he applied to the “Burger of Fire” and not the Baptism of Fire.

After all, the HFF managed to convince 25 players from the amateur-ish Liga 1 sides to build the National Team, whose nickname is resumed to “Kuntur” (The Condors), all those players ranged from being high school students, to chemists, bus drivers, and even people from the local tavern, whose preference is revealed on how they named their team “Real Ebriedad”, which was later supported by Cristalina, the main brewery firm from Huayramarca.

Nothing that would be possible without the support of Omar Caicedo, a Costeño who migrated to Québec and decided to learn football techniques while managing Beyreuth University, where he won three national titles out of eight seasons on his span with them. Caicedo is a fan of high-pressure football, known as “gegenpressing” or “El Huayco” as Huayramarcans may call if (specially Serranos, since they might be quite shy or sometimes plain dumb that doesn’t like to attack) Anyways, Caicedo’s strategy proved right on some matches played by Huayramarca against their northern neighbour, the Royal Kingdom of Québec, beating them 5-1 at Huayramarca’s Estadio Nacional (located at 4,012 masl only?!…) and tying 2-2 at Iqaluit’s Ice Hockey Rink (that’s what the players thought at playing in a frozen city… ¡Achachay!) If you wonder what’s ¡Achachay! Well, figure out you’re on top of the mountain receiving wind and gelid weather right into you, if you did it, welcome to Huayramarcan’s sense of cold shivering!

Well, coming back to football, Caicedo’s devotion for 4-2-3-1 has been unquestionable, he always loves to boast of having a neat defence, two defending mid fielders that may aim to recover possession when needed, or even having one of them switching to creative duties in support of the team’s brain, Ian Mamani, then, two wingers feeding the sole striker up in the middle of the box. That striker may often go back and try to recover balls and make a power play from himself with support of a winger and then seek for a goal. He did demonstrate a lot during the first part of the World Cup Qualifiers, earning some mixed results during it, but it failed for a part of the second half, where the team accumulated an 11 winless game streak added that they weren't capable to snatch a win during their first eight local games. In fact, their first home win came at the 9th home game, after that, they won three out of their four last home games, earning an 8 games unbeaten streak to finish off the Qualifiers, which was a quite impressive recovery after suffering a significant streak of defeats.

Said streak wasn’t a lucky strike, it was somehow a confirmation on how the Huayramarcan National Team had turned into a squad that forged a reputation as a hardworking team. The Cup of Harmony 77 was an interesting test for the team, to see if they are capable to handle out the nerves of what it implies to be struggling for a knockout spot until the last second of the last match, which is what happened to the Condors, since they tied their first three games, they had a chance to get into the last rounds but they had to face Port Ember. Huayramarca succumbed to the nerves and wasted a 2-0 lead to see how Port Ember scored five goals in quick succession.

A spectacular beginning on World Cup 86 Qualifiers helped the Condors to finish 4th in the first half of qualifiers, being two points below the second placed squad, but defeats against top dogs such as Ko-oren and Tequilo killed the desires of this national team to qualify, also, instigated by poor performances against low and other mid-ranked nations boosted that debacle. The Cup of Harmony wasn't different to the end of the World Cup Qualifiers, it was in the same shape, defeats, defeats, and pressure on the squad since they were worried on the turbulent present of Huayramarca.

With the latest investments made by the Huayramarcan Government to the Huayramarcan Football Federation, by multiplying tenfold their budget, the HFF has now sent the managerial staff of the Condors to other nations, to gather new ideas and apply those to build a competent side in tactical terms, with the main purpose to achieve World Cup qualification for the first time as soon as possible and provide that joy to the Huayramarcan folk. That heavy investment provided benefits during the 87th World Cup Qualifiers, where Huayramarca left behind the label of being an "uncomfortable rival" to take a protagonist role in their group, finishing second behind Audioslavia with a solid 40 points in 18 matches. Things in playoffs might be forgettable as Huayramarca drew at home (1-1) and was thrashed (1-4) in Tikariot.

Despite the downturn in the team's mindset, the team faced struggles at the Cup of Harmony group stage. Being defeated by Mriin at the first game, defeating Garifunya 1-0 and then tying against Ibixa for the second time in the cycle sent the Condors to the Knockout phase of CoH for their first time ever, Xanneria was a hard rival for the Round of 32, Huayramarca's miracle run was about to start with a narrow 2-1 win over them; then two rock-solid performances against Saint Domingue and a well-known foe from the WCQ Group (Sargossa) with a 3-1 and 2-0 respectively, put Huayramarca among the best four sides in the Cup of Harmony. Being defeated by Mriin with a hard-fought 2-3 and then once again a 1-4 against Newmanistan were enough to confirm Huayramarca as the 4th placed side.

World Cup 88th would prove to be an interesting situation for the team and fans overall, Huayramarca would have a rather forgettable first half of the qualifiers, with a 6-game winless streak that became a ballast enough to keep the team away from the Top-3 during the entire Qualifier. The team tried to revert the situation with strong performances that, pitifully, weren’t enough to qualify the team for the World Cup. A strong CoH and a decent CAFA helped to compensate.

Life may repeat some of their lessons if people doesn’t manage to learn from them, the Huayramarcan National Team enjoyed their best start ever in a World Cup Qualifier, nine goals for and one against in the four first matches, the team was displaying a defensive strength unknown for many fans, they continued the path by defeating Squornshelan Remnant States and Nephara in important matches. “It was too good for being real” said many fans, and Tumbra proved them right, as they grounded the Huayramarcans at the Estadio Nacional with a painful 0-3, so painful that marked a steady decline of the team for the second half, as the team got a succession of draws and defeats that sent them from the top of the table to the fifth place in a span of four matchdays. From that crisis, it is noteworthy the fact that Omar Caicedo used an alternative XI for the remainder of the cycle and shifted to a more offensive version of “El huayco,” that would prove to be effective for Cycle 90.

With Caicedo’s tenure in a limbo, he decided to take a game-changing decision after hiring Rodolfo Zelaya as an assistant coach; Zelaya’s a former footballer with significant decorations such as Champions Cup with two teams and reaching the World Cup Final twice. Despite being defeated at home by Valanora in the opener, a string of four clean sheets in the next five games would be decisive to consolidate Huayramarca as a contender in her group, then a quick succession of decisive results against Krytenia at home (3-2) and Valanora on the road (2-2) paved the way to keep the team fighting for the first place until the last matchday. Despite defeating Krytenia 1-0 on the road, the Vanorians won their last match and that meant that Huayramarca went to the playoffs, despite possessing the seventh best record of the qualifiers.

Facing Omerica in the playoffs was a tough affair, as they managed to salvage a horrid game when visiting the rivals, a 1-2 that proved to be oxygen for the second leg of the playoffs at Puerto San Carlos. An early goal from the Legend itself, Bryan Tello, and a strong defensive performance from The Condors forced the penalty kicks. The Huayramarcans and Omericans were scoring perfectly fine until the fifth round, where Juan Mamani decided to be the hero and saved the kick, sending Huayramarca to its first World Cup Finals.

El Huayco was now stronger than ever, and the World Cup highlighted it with statement results against Græntfjall (4-3 in debut) and the hosts, Vilita (1-0), despite being defeated by Pemecutan(3-4) and helped the team to reach the Round of 16. The hurdle in the knockouts proved to be the same as the Qualifiers, Valanora appeared for the third time in the cycle and demonstrated their experience with a sound 4-2 victory over The Condors, who did a great debut in the Multiversal Stage.

Said streak continued for the WC 91 Qualifier, one where despite having a bumpy start, Huayramarca managed to recompose things and propel themselves to the pack of nations fighting for automatic qualification, one featuring Sarzonia, Cassadaigua and Electrum. After being defeated by Electrum and Cassadaigua in a row, Huayramarca began an astonishing 15 game unbeaten run where they only conceded 15 goals and scored 48, including five straight clean sheets, even in critical matches where the Condors showed a magnificent performance. Revenge was sweet, defeating the Dagans at home, trouncing Electrum with a resounding 6-0 at Guayaquil (a NT record) and then a 2-0 win against Sarzonia propelled the Huayramarcan side to the top of their qualifier group. A draw against Magnecia complicated things as Sarzonia had a game in hand, Huayramarca had to keep the winning streak and they managed to do so, securing their automatic qualification against Ancherion in a dramatic fashion.

Back in the Group Stage of the World Cup, the Condors were trying to replicate the success achieved last year in the World Cup, not an easy task as they would face Farfadillis, Pasarga and Delaclava. Being defeated twice by narrow 3-2 scores, Huayramarca had to bid farewell to their hopes of replication, still, they had to avoid going with a zero on points, something they managed to do as they defeated Delaclava with a 4-3. Despite the outcome, the Condors were able to make a comeback in the cycle with a decent participation in CAFA 4, winning three matches and barely qualifying for the knockout stages; then, they defeated Legalese in a marathonic penalty kicks session and were edged out by the hosts, Ko-oren, with a 1-2 in extra time.

Anyways, Huayramarcan football stills being distinguishable on how prone are they to do long range shots, due that they are used to play at significant heights, the lack of oxygen may make the ball travel further without applying a lot of strength during the mechanics of kicking the football, that is known as the “Andean Effect” and may cause serious troubles for visiting sides on Huayramarca.

Without further ado, the starting XI and substitutes are presented in the following tables:

Team mentality: Huayramarcans, per se, are bold and quite diverse between the team due to the regional contrasts among them: You might note surnames such as: Condori, Mamani, Quispe, Sayritupac, etc. Those are Serrano surnames. Serranos as such are quite shy people with non-serranos, between them, great footballing societies may be made due to their complete understanding of each other, they are quite homogenous on how they act and may be predictable for each other. But, for the non-expert eye, Serranos are one on their kind and could result unpredictable for them, since they love to do things at fast pace between them, without doubt one could send 60 meters cross with complete confidence that they might find their teammate, with this, you can notice that Serranos are overconfident on themselves and somewhat dubious with Costeños and Selváticos. Other characteristic of Serranos is that they are quite easy to intimidate, being shy and short-sized doesn’t helps, but in that situation, they might opt to act even better than they do for the sake of shutting your mouth.

Costeños and Selváticos (jungle) in the other hand are confident with everybody, even if they might not receive the same treatment by their Serrano fellows. Those two groups conform the rest of the team and might do good societies on field, declining the quality of their chemistry when trying to connect with Serranos, due to the latter shy mood. Physically speaking, Costeño and Selváticos are people who boast being the tallest overall in the team.

Chemistry building has been somewhat complicated for this team during the five cycles they have competed together but has been a rather successful process that consolidated with the 79th Cup of Harmony, the 88 th and 89 th World Qup Qualifiers, as they have been together as glue through high and lows. The regional divides topic is now outdated as the players have grown up significantly and have harnessed teamwork.

Although they work nicely as a team, there’s a moment when they can’t do that and that moment is when they have the goal in their sights, when they have a chance to score, they try to do their best to do it by themselves, even if that means avoid passing the ball to a better placed teammate, individualities have been surging from nowhere and this issue has costed valuable results for the team. This has been combated successfully by Caicedo and Zelaya.

To finish with this part, Huayramarca is that kind of team that may be overconfident sometimes, but if you press them to their limits, they might react in unsuspected ways, be those positive or negative for their interests, you don’t know what would happen in the Serrano, Costeño or Selvático mindset. As they do on the local league, they might try to do some antics to their rivals, be it: providing beer instead of water to their rivals, or the classiest one, giving distillated “ayahuasca” (vodka-like alcohol) and pass it like water and make their rivals be drunk, taking advantage of their influence to beat the rival team. Of course, they might not abuse of this resource, Serranos might ask Inti for it.

Game Scheme: Caicedo aims to use always a 4-2-3-1 scheme that he dubs it as “El huayco” (the mudslide) due to an analogy he made of his team with such a devastating natural phenomenon: “We aim to build a fast team, aiming to be unpredictable for the others while using our regional paradigms in our favour.

El Huayco is a style of play in which you look to win back the ball as soon as you lose it, and you try to win it back as high up the pitch as possible; that means you’re closing a lot to put pressure on the player that's just won the ball back.

The idea is that the player who just won the ball will be vulnerable and won't have time to think about his first pass. You just close him down to win the ball back quickly as high up the pitch as possible, and then you initiate a counterattack. You're already halfway there and ready to go past into space and score a goal.

You can also use this tactic to target specific weak players if you have noticed a weakness in a certain team. Central defenders or full backs aren't comfortable on the ball, and you can look to press and close certain individuals to try and make the most out of this game pressing style.

Caicedo has done some arrangements to this style considering the fate suffered during the World Cup 88 and 89 Qualifiers, as he now has pushed off the defensive lines closer the half of the pitch, being almost close with the midfielders’ line to exchange passes, reinforcing creation duties in the midfield and gaining extra protection in case the team losses the ball. The wingers have a protagonist role as they might venture more often in attacking duties, transforming their roles to be strikers when needed, so, Huayramarca has a 4-3-3 scheme at certain moments of the match to attack.

For the last purpose mentioned, Serranos are heavily important, they might be the analogue of a dog felling your fear and then attacking, they as collective love to use their different point of views and implement them as one while attacking, then fast passes and maybe a long-range shot may happen, especially if the team is playing on the highlands. If the team is playing on the coast or jungle, they might seek to control the ball and make the rival team run behind the ball for some time, to cause climatic exhaust on them, since coast and jungle are hot and terribly humid in this part of Anaia, so it may pose a real challenge for teams not used to play in such conditions.

To achieve Caicedo’s main goal, there are prerequisites for successful counter pressing. The decisive factor is the overall positioning of the team and their playing style right before attempting to counter press. The players must play as close to one another as possible so that they can press together as a unit right after the ball is lost – which is a given in short passing football. At the same time, they should not stick so close to one another that they neglect to cover enough space. This demands lots of stamina

Many teams also have problems deciding when to stop pressing, for example, when we stop pressing if we can’t win the ball back? When should we retreat? How long should you press and with how many players? This is particularly problematic because the position of the ball is always changing. Therefore, there is a theory created by Caicedo – the five second rule. Immediately after losing the ball the team should press at top speed and with maximum intensity for five seconds, if not possible, then switch to defence.

Image

The Kits: Huayramarca’s social mindset is to aim for local consumption in the long term, hence the HFF decided to hire “eva Sportswear” to manufacture the kits for the national team. “eva” decided to take the ball out of the park with unique designs for Huayramarca, reflecting the national identity and adding up motivational phrases on them for mere sake of marketing. Those kits are based on the geography of this nation, from the coast to the highlands and jungle to promote a sense of national unity, especially on a stage that the national team might try to do something decent in their first World Cup Qualifiers venture.

As backgrounds, you might notice some spots that Huayramarca has to offer, such as Uyuni's salt lake with some astrophotography in it, Huayna Picchu's monument to Inti (Sun), Lake Quilotoa (an old volcano near the city of Tulcán), Puerto Odriozola at the San Carlos Islands, the Ojos del Salado Volcano with a lavender field and then, the second flag of the Plurinational Republic, the Wiphala, a representation of the old Incaic glory of Huayramarca and banner of the Aymara and Quechua nationalities.

“eva” decided to depict elements that provide sense of pride and national identification for Huayramarcans, no matter where they are from, those are universal icons of what Huayramarca is and its roots. Strong roots, legacy, and people forging their future with faith, pride, and hope.

Player’s description - Starting XI.

Nota bene: Caps considered after World Cup 91 Finals - For national purposes, friendlies are never taken into consideration for official registries.

N°1 - Juan Mamani - GK - 29 yrs - Team: Rülândéá Kôstä Image - Height: 1.88 mts - Caps: 199 - Goals: 1

Mamani is an individual that believes he always is right, he tends to be creative when saving balls or creating ideas to take the ball forward, based so much in the fact that he is protective, spontaneous and loves to be independent in his actions, always a dependable guy. Currently, his mood is over the clouds as he was recently signed up by the Farf side of Rülândéá Kôstä, now Juan expects to have experience at the highest level possible and learn techniques that might help the Condors sometime. A curious fact is that he’s brother with the creative mid of this team, Ian Mamani. He has achieved a hero status among fans due to his decisive last penalty kick save in the shootout against Omerica in the World Cup 90th in the second leg of the playoffs.

N°2 - Kevin Quispe - RCB - 24 yrs - Team: Farrenton Athletic Image - Height: 1.75 mts - Caps: 200 - Goals: 7

An average guy in terms of intelligence that has no life plan, hence he left studies to make a living with football. He is very secretive, doesn't like even to tell his teammates what his next movement will be because he knows we will be wrong, Quispe has serious issues with anger management and may be rebellious, he is cold and ignores what the others might feel or think about him, he doesn't give a fu*k of anything. Anyways, he's in his best form so far with Farrenton Athletic, being nominated as one of the top defenders of the Euran League shows how his discipline and perseverance have taken him where he stands.

N°4 - Carlos Vilca - LFB - 30 yrs - Team: Valnohar Rovers FC Image - Height: 1.78 mts - Caps: 198 - Goals: 12

Vilca exemplifies the stereotype of a Serrano, he is overly analytical and optimistic, with patience when a player might approach to him, he might take some minutes to make a mental profile of who he will face and how to block him in its right side. Despite being coordinated and loving to be the centre of attention, he loves to be quiet and solitary with his own personal code of conduct, he might be extremely fair while robbing balls and could try to be the surprise factor, since he tends to be a box-to-box player that loves to defend and also create offensive plays when possible. Right now, he’s in a great personal moment due to his critical role that helped Huayramarca to put a cohesive defence during the last World Cup Qualifier.

N°6 - Felipe Fernández - RFB - 28 yrs - Team: Vogsphere United Image - Height: 1.85 mts - Caps: 201 - Goals: 10

Pipe, as known by his teammates is an extremely intelligent right fool back that adapts quite quickly to any situation he might face, he loves being orderly and hates mess. When playing, he is straight-forward and might argument with rivals, referee and even his teammates, he rarely praises others and values learning from experience. Said experiences have helped him to evolve into a solid stalwart for Omar Caicedo in the Huayramarcan defence, even helping to score few but decisive goals for the Condors against top rivals; now, he has been called up Vogsphere United from the Squornshelan Remnant States to defend the team, in what surely will be a great experience where Fernández will learn incredible lessons.

N°14 - Santiago Chumacero - LCB - 29 yrs - Team: FC Atahualpa Image - Height: 1.81 mts - Caps: 201 - Goals: 16

Chumacero's perception of things might be out of this world, his mind might be steps forward the others and might help to anticipate to movements that may be done by the rival. For that purpose, he's always flexible, active and plays like he would be killed if he does a mistake, he's loyal with his team, faithful and gentle, hence he might be the motivator of the squad. Chumacero is an extremely dependable player, and it would be matter of time to see him departing from the Huayramarcan Liga 1 for a better place, as his athletic capabilities are too big to stagnate in an amateur-ish league.

N°17 - Orlando Mina - CM - 26 yrs - Team: Montréal Koreana Image - Height: 1.95 mts - Caps: 199 - Goals: 13

One of the two defensive mid of the team and, for sure, one of the best in the multiverse in his position, being the classical Costeño out there, Mina is the tallest and strongest player of the squad. Mina's attitude is being original and stubborn, giving you classical Costeño vibes, consistent in his performance and devoted to God, he cares a lot about what he does, since he tries always to correct his mistakes and not suffering on them, instead, he uses them as feedback to improve his game and abilities. Mina's a notable example on how one can benefit from football, as he helped his mother who was fired from his job when he joined to the Condors and turned her into a real estate tycoon by providing her savings. His mood is extremely positive as of now by the fact of being a key player in Montréal Koreana, a team that made it far in the last IFCF Champions' League.

N°11 - Ian Mamani - CF - 26 yrs - Team: Workers Union Image - Height: 1.65 mts - Caps: 200 - Goals: 36

The youngest of the Mamani brothers in this team, along with Juan, Ian has what Juan might lack sometimes, creativity and brightness, although they play in various positions and roles in the team. This creative mid and captain of the team is one of the grandiose things among this team, a fast-paced and fussy person with lots of potential, euphoria that drives him to perform as what he can do, being the best of the entire nation in his role. Large crosses are his specialty, including long-range shots when playing on the highlands. Right now, his euphoria level has increased a lot, considering he got called to play at the Workers Union of Eura, the fact of being called captain and being on the international TV screen for WCQ and weekend matches that any random Huayramarcan broadcast fills him with motivation.

N°8 - Nicolás Allauca - CF – 31 yrs - Team: Winnipeg United Image - Height: 1.80 mts - Caps: 201 - Goals: 23

Nico was a bus driver until the last three weeks prior to WC 85 Qualifiers, when he decided to enter to the amateur football world of Huayramarca, he was in luck that Caicedo watched him plat and fell in love on how he performed. Allauca is spontaneous and may not like to do training, he is a fast-moving and extremely practical (hates theories) defensive mid, that may mutate to a second creative mid with Ian Mamani and has also a decent capability to score goals while going to attack. After having a discrete performance in Chromatika, now he moves to Québec's Winnipeg United, where he expects to keep up the tone as he does with the National Team.

N°7 - Abraham Mendoza - LF - 27 yrs - Team: Ogroven Vanguardi FK Image - Height: 1.63 mts - Caps: 200 - Goals: 19

Nicknamed “El Ingeniero” The smallest of the entire team, Mendoza is a mentally strong individual who loves to work hard, play hard and be a strong leader inside the team in terms of order. A competent but realistic player who may not be spectacular while playing on the wings, but pragmatical and effective when achieving his purposes. On his personal life he is the best positioned of all the group, since he just graduated in Industrial Engineering at the Huayramarcan Technical University with a deserved "summa cum laude", so no matter what happens, he could get a decent job position in any Huayramarcan enterprise to optimize their processes. You might notice how Abraham's personal discipline is, and this is shown even to football, where he tries to compliment weaknesses that he may have as his height, but he tries to compensate with decent body-building routines. He might not be a prolific scorer for the standards of a winger, but he has at least a 35% of assists for the total of Huayramarcan goals scored during the Qualifiers, hence, somebody to take care of.

N°21 - Gabriel Sayritupac - RF - 27 yrs - Team: Atletik Thessia Image - Height: 1.75 mts - Caps: 205 - Goals: 77

Sayri as he's known by many people in his native Tulcán (near the Québécois-Huayramarcan border) is an artistic person in all senses of his life. Usually, he makes a living by painting portraits of people visiting the Chimborazo National Forest Reserve, sometimes working on a local brewery, or doing football for fun. He doesn't stands being alone and might be that easy-going Serrano (which is weird, if we come to think it). He has genetic problems that makes him quite prone to injuries, and when those occur, Sayri decides to get inebriated to let frustration go away. An artistical winger, lover of uncertainty and mess that makes him be either the best or cause problems to settle where he plays. As of now, he has managed to find its way on the Tikariot Premier League, something that has gave him that precious self-confidence back to his soul.

N°21 - Bryan Tello - ST - 32 yrs - Team: Metropolis Alligators Image - Height: 1.86 mts - Caps: 201 - Goals: 150

A decently heighted Costeño as forward is always a neat solution for your goal needs, with good pace, stride, and physic abilities Tello is what every team may need for up front. He's factual since he studied Philosophy at the University of Cumbayá, a committed and self-confident man who might be extremely traditional to his striker role, he might seek for space to go front, use his strength and move towards the goal. Tello is a strong leader among the shadows of the Huayramarcan national team, an outgoing and straight-forward person that could sometimes aggressive since he's prone to be insensitive. Despite that he is the Legend of the team, the striker that is at the right place and moment to push the ball against the net, something that has helped him retain his position as stellar striker of Metropolis Alligators in the Valladar Liga-1.

Substitutes:

Nota bene: In order to have a deeper understanding of Huayramarcan players, take in consideration the following list of personalities for the substitutes. Take time, if you wish, to read the substitute players list posted again down here and follow the order of said list. The first player on this list, has his mindset reflected in the left of the first row, the second in the right of the first row and so on until the last one:

Signups updated to StrayaRoos.

I am aiming for 30 signups, and it is very likely that the tournament will require a holiday break, and run into the first week of January. The everything else thread (which will go up when signups are finalised, and will have the required information edited in when format is finalised) will contain all of the information regarding cutoff dates.

Thank you all for your patience regarding this certainly unique tournament experiment.

THE KOTZELLACHIAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM
DIE KOTZELLACHERISCHE FUßBALLNATIONALMANNSCHAFT

The Red Foxes
Die Roten Füchse

FourEight years ago Kotzellach decided to try its hand at international football. That didn't go so well, and the Kotzellachian Football Association (KFV Kotzellacheriche Fußballverand) decided not to send a team back to the second Krytenian edition as they decided to re-evaluate the entire Kotzellach football programme as a whole. And after three and a half years of deliberation...the result is that the programme is going to continue. Like everyone expected. Hopes and expectations are, again, low; but at least expectations are properly tempered this time.

Bernard Schöber returns; the wily old fox employs a 4-5-1, preferring a solid, defence-first approach and overloading the midfield with players. The tempo when they have the ball is fast, utilising overlapping wingers.

Setup

The team plays a 4-5-1, though 4-4-2 and 4-1-4-1 and 4-4-1-1 isn't out of the question either; the only constant is the low line and willingness to soak up attacks, then using long balls to begin quick counters. Out of possession, heavy pressing is utilised; Kotzellachian players tend to enjoy closing down opponents, particularly on the wings. Attacking centrally is the key here; but an overloaded midfield will force teams to skip the midfield and go straight for the defence.

Home Stadia

While not utilised for the tournament, Kotzellach's home stadium will be the Nationalstadion in downtown Kotzellach; with a capacity of 72,000 in its football configuration, the state-of-the-art stadium is also home to 1. NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM OF GRANDE CUCINA
NAZIONALE DI CALCIO DELL'GRANDE CUCINA

The Golden Foxes
L'Volpi d'oro

Imagine a classically warm nation with beautiful scenery, olive trees, and most of all, delicious noodle-based foods that have become so engulfed in the country's tradition that every surname in the country is, at the very least, some kind of foodstuff. It's a Cucinan thing. It's a very idyllic place to live, and one that, post-Relocation, found itself with lots of neighbours. When they did find out that said neighbours, too, enjoyed kicking around a few footballs, they decided to send their 23 best players in the hopes that their players might be able to have fun on the pitch and export Grande Cucina as a destination to the world. Oh, and this time perhaps to try and convince the rest of Anaia to buy their pasta, tomatoes, pasta, noodle exports, chicken, fish, pasta, and so on. All free-range.

Four years ago this team somehow managed to escape the Group Stage while holding Krytenia to penalties in the quarter finals; then a lack of funding (read: corruption and a general sense of tardiness, but really mainly the corruption resulting in there being a sense of tardiness in grabbing the funds together — they were about thirty thousand dollars short of the thirty thousand dollars required to be able to send the team to Krytenia, so, y'know, not by much) resulted in them missing the second edition. Now they've managed to scrape together enough funds to send the Golden Foxes back for another shot.

Young, temperamental and maverick manager Antonio Prezzemolo has been given the reins of the team. At just 46, the young manager, who has a penchant for utilising wingbacks as the focal point of attack, is looking to blitz opponents with fast-placed wingplay and verticality on the pitch. It's worked before, somehow. Maybe they'll try again.

Image Image Image
Home, away, alternate. Home kit inspired by President Benedetta Tagliolini saying that in her re-election campaign she "loved running through fields of wheat without any shoes on". Somehow she won. Away kit inspired by the Anaian regional colours, plus a few extra neon colours that fashion designer Eugênio Canestrato promised would make the kit "pop" and "look estremamente fantastico". Has had an extremely lukewarm reaction. "Too much purple" is the general sentiment, though when surveyed the public ended up just designing the home kit as an alternate kit. Third kit was inspired by the President of the FCGC's five-year-old son refusing to eat his pesto sauce off a blue plate and instead spreading it all over said plate. Because the President was also somehow the chairman of the kit design committee, and it's very difficult to say no to the President of the FCGC, his design made it in.

Bolded players denote starters, but pre-match XIs will be posted before every cutoff. If none are posted, feel free to pick and choose from this side, though do keep in mind a player with the number 16 is more likely to be picked than a player with the number 20.

Somehow at the ripe old age of 38 Pappardelle returns, though with his long, curly locks you'd be forgiven for thinking he was only 25. Four years on from his first taste of international football, he's still a personality. Eccentric and beguiling, but always a pleasure to watch (especially for his hair — have we mentioned that bit yet?) Pappardelle will pull shit out of his top locker and get away with it. Nicknamed Il Pazzo for a reason. The goalkeeper kit isn't included here (for everyone's safety), but there are rumours that Pappardelle designed it himself; and that he got the design from the floor of an arcade in Kotzellach City when he went there for a vacation. It, uh, certainly is colourful.

The name of the game on the outfield is wing-play. Pass the ball to the wingbacks, they'll (try) make magic happen. Equally adept at both attacking and defending, Perciatellini and Ditali are the workhorses of the team, often running the most out of anyone on a given matchday. Cut them off, and the whole team suffers. But they're nimble enough to not get cut off, anyway. Ditali returns from CAFA 1; Perciatellini is new to the national team. Which is why his backup is, uh, thirty-five year-old Gianpaolo Pizzoccheri. Who is rumoured to have gotten on the team by flexing the fact that he "plays in Audioslavia" without mentioning which team in Audioslavia he plays for. The three-player defence sees Struncatura return, partnered with Serafina Quadrettini and Lasagnotte; Serafina is unique in that she is one half of the Quadrettini siblings to have made it as the defenders for AS Divella. Her brother Vittorino is also on this team. Meanwhile Mauro Ferrazzuoli made it onto this team, because, uh, the FCGC president had a dream that Grande Cucina would win the CAFA and Ferrazzuoli was amongst the players lifting the trophy. It's quite difficult to say no to the President of the FCGC, so Ferrazzuoli will be making the trip.

In the midfield, Calamarata and Festoni run the midfield, playing deeper but occasionally venturing forth to lap up loose balls. They both return from CAFA 1. The main progression will be through the wingbacks, though both starting midfielders are more than capable of carrying the ball through the middle of the park. Michelangelo Fiorentine, the teenage sensation and part-time sculptor (parents wanted Fiorentine to get a well-rounded education, and they figured making him do art was the best way of doing it, but instead of sculpting pots like every other student he just kept sculpting football players), starts as a more offensive midfielder.

Up top it's the main man himself Enrico Tagliatelle, scorer of 11 in 7 last time out; he's partnered by on-off girlfriend-rival Angela Tortellini (it's complicated, and involves a complicated feud between the Tagliatelle family and the Tortellini family which will probably be turned into a play by some Tumbran playwright) who's not too bad in front of goal herself. Tagliatelle's a poacher; Tortellini's a deep-lying striker.

Tactical Set-Up

5-3-2, though in reality it's more a 5-2-1-2 than anything. Becomes a 3-2-1-4 in attack, with the wingbacks advancing far up the pitch. It's risky, sure, but Prezzemolo is a 100-or-0 man. Full throttle or no speed. Fourth gear or neutral. You get the idea. It's balls to the wall stuff, an intriguing tactical puzzle for managers to unlock, and should provide a great experience for neutrals.

Left Corner Taker Battista Perciatellini
Right Corner Taker Romano Ditali
Penalties Enrico Tagliatelle
Direct FK Taker Massimiliano Festoni
Indirect FK Taker Massimiliano Festoni

Most likely to shoot Enrico Tagliatelle
Most likely to score from close-range Enrico Tagliatelle
Most likely to score from long-range Enrico Tagliatelle
Most likely to be fouled Enrico Tagliatelle
Most likely to attempt the spectacular Enrico Tagliatelle

This squad is not reliant on Enrico Tagliatelle at all. No, it is most definitely is not. How dare you suggest otherwise.

Home Stadia

While Grande Cucina will most probably never host international matches outside of friendlies (the FCGC, the Federazione Calcio Grande Cucina is utterly and completely skint, and only through government grants was even able to enter the tournament despite the country loving football so much), visiting teams will be hosted in the Stadio della Vale, in the middle of the picturesque port city and capital, Barilla. With a capacity of 41,000, it is not the biggest or most imposing stadium, but supporters will cheer vehemently and loudly for their national team.

Signups for CAFA V are now closed.

Format voting telegrams have been sent out to all participants. Check the main nation you used to sign up to the tournament if you believe you haven't received one.

You will have approximately 72 hours from the time of sending to complete this form, registering your votes. This means voting will close at approximately 17:00 GMT on 11th December 2022.

Please send me feedback to the voting form as appropriate. The everything thread will go up shortly to allow you to RP, and Matchday 1 will commence at least 48h after the voting deadline ends. A full schedule will be posted in the everything thread when it is finalised.

The voting deadline has now passed, and the votes have been collated.
14 nations responded to the voting survey.

The first multiple choice question regarded the format of the first stage of the tournament, known as the tournament body. Several options were presented, and the first choice votes were for the following options:

Single Round Robin: 9 votes
Double Round Robin: 2 votes
Double Elimination Tournament: 2 votes
Casaran: 1 vote

With a majority of 1st choice votes, the first stage of the tournament will be a Single Round Robin, with groups.
The second multiple choice question regarded the size of groups if the round robin option was selected. The first choice votes were for the following options:

8x4: 10 votes
4x8: 3 votes
2x16: 1 vote

With a majority of 1st choice votes, there will be 8 groups with 4 entrants in them. Groups will be drawn from pots, as determined by CAFA rank.

The third multiple choice question regarded the order of tie-breakers. This one is a doozy, so bear with me. As Casaran did not receive the format vote, votes for Strength of Schedule and Strength of Victory have been discounted, and options that were chosen below those have been moved up in individual voter orders. For the full vote results, click the spoiler below:
For the first tiebreaker, the results were:

Points: 13 votes
Strength of schedule: 1 vote
Write in option: 1 vote

With a majority, Points is selected as the first tiebreaker. Points are now removed as an option, and voters' additional preferences are now counted. This now leaves the following results:

Goal Difference: 8 votes
Head-to-head Points: 5 votes
Write in option: 1 vote

With a majority, Goal Difference is selected as the second tiebreaker. Continuing, the next set of results are:

Head-to-head Points: 9 votes
Head-to-head Goal Difference: 2 votes
Goals For: 2 votes
Write in option: 1 vote

With a majority, Head-to-head Points is the third tiebreaker. In the next round, we have:

Head-to-head Goal Difference: 11 votes
Goals For: 2 votes
Write in option: 1 vote

With a majority, Head-to-head Goal Difference is the 4th tiebreaker. In the next round, we have:

Goals For: 7 votes
Coin Flip: 4 votes
Head-to-head Goals For: 1 vote
Write in option: 1 vote

With a majority, Goals For is the 5th tiebreaker. In the next round, we have:

Head-to-head Goals For: 6 votes
Coin Flip: 4 votes
Write in option: 1 vote

Head-to-head Goals For is selected as the 6th tiebreaker. Finally, we have:

Coin Flip: 10 votes
Write in option: 1 vote

A coin flip (OOC scorinated game using only RP bonus) is selected as the 7th and final tiebreaker, as a coinflip cannot cause a tied result. Thanks for bearing with me on that one, that was the hardest vote of the lot.
In summary, the tiebreakers are: Points, Goal Difference, Head-to-head Points, Head-to-head Goal Difference, Goals For, Head-to-head Goals For, A coin flip (OOC scorinated game using only RP bonus).
The fourth multiple choice question asked how many teams would be expected to progress to the second stage of the tournament. The first choice votes are as follows:

16 teams: 11 votes
No teams (declare a winner after the first stage based on tiebreakers): 2 votes
8 teams: 1 vote

With a majority, 16 teams will progress to the second stage of the tournament. These will be the top two finishers from each group.

The fifth multiple choice question determined what the format of the second stage would be. The first choice votes for this are:

Single Elimination Knockout: 8 votes
Double Elimination Knockout: 2 votes
Write in option - “Petting Elephants”: 1 vote
Write in option - “<Continuation of write in suggestion for body tournament>”: 1 vote
Single Round Robin: 1 vote

With a majority, the second stage will be a Single Elimination Tournament.
The next multiple choice question regarded the scorination formula. The first choice votes were:
SQIS: 5 votes
NSFS: 4 votes
SLIS: 3 votes
Write in option - ‘Dice’ : 1 vote

With no majority, “Write in option - ‘Dice’” is eliminated from 1st choice voting, and that voter's second choice is used. I will note, however, that “Dice” was a write in option on three votes - it was simply the last choice for many.

SQIS: 5 votes
NSFS: 4 votes
SLIS: 4 votes

With a tie between NSFS and SLIS, SLIS is eliminated as it had fewer first-choice votes. Redistributing the second choice options gives us:

SQIS: 7 votes
NSFS: 6 votes

Therefore, the SQIS formula will be used to scorinate the tournament.
The next question concerned the roster bonus maximum. Of the options, the 1st choice votes were as follows (in units ‘of maximum matchday RP bonus’)

100%: 6 votes
400%: 3 votes
50%: 3 votes
200%: 2 votes

With the fewest votes, the 200% option is eliminated. Redistributing its votes, the second round of results for this vote are:

100%: 7 votes
400%: 3 votes
50%: 3 votes

Therefore, the roster bonus maximum will be equivalent to 1 matchday’s maximum bonus.
The next vote regarded expectations on when a max rank, no RP team would have an even chance against a no rank, max RP team. The votes for this were:

The start of the second round: 8 votes
Never: 2 votes
The final: 1 vote
Halfway through the first round: 1 vote
Write in option - “earlier than halfway through the 1st round”: 1 vote
Write in option - “on the INT(n/2)th matchday, where n is the total number of matchdays”: 1 vote

The majority option here is the start of the second round. Therefore, it is likely that a max rank, no RP team would have an even chance in a match against a no rank, max RP team around this time.

The next vote was a simple binary - a yes/no to brevity bonus. The votes were as follows:

Yes: 9 votes
No: 5 votes

There will be a brevity bonus. The exact amount was given as a write in option, and I’ve decided to average all of the scores out. Therefore, a brevity bonus will be given to RPs that are under or around 497.5 words. Of course, the modal answer was 500, therefore it really makes sense just to take that. Maximum bonus will be given for RPs that meet 500 words exactly, but a fraction of bonus will be given to RPs that are near that threshold. Further details will be in the everything thread.

The penultimate question regarded RP prompts, and whether they were to be included or not. The votes for this were as follows:

Yes: 9 votes
Yes, with RP bonus for completing them: 3 votes
No: 2 votes

With a majority, there will be RP prompts, but there will be no bonus for completing them.

Finally, voters were asked if they wish to add any other quirks or procedures. Many good ideas were suggested, from hats, Foxsal, to elephant pictures at cutoff time. I will leave the latter to the Esportivans, but I will be publishing RP bonus information for the group stage, in the form of mean, median and standard deviations of RP bonus collected between cutoffs.

Thank you to all who voted, this was certainly an interesting experiment, and we have a rather normal tournament out the other end of it. Democracy prevails? The everything thread will go up tonight after I've had a cup of tea and a break from processing this vote, with the cutoff for Matchday 1 in approximately 52 hours, at 22:00 UTC on December 13th 2022.
