Admittedly, I skimmed the announcement and didn’t realize the initial reasoning. Though I am hoping that Vara will keep TWP and Giovannilands foreign affairs strategy in check.

If your position is that BoM-Osiris damage control and handling of recent events is the non-blunder side of things, clearly you haven’t learned anything since happenings such as the 2017 RaiderCon incident. Something about horses and leading them to water.

On March 21st of this year, the West Pacific signed a joint statement with Lazarus and Osiris to declare the immediate cessation of all relations of The League with both the West Pacific and Lazarus. This was done as a response to The League’s declaration of war against The Black Hawks, Lone Wolves United, the Brotherhood of Malice, and Osiris. At that time, the West Pacific was allied with Lone Wolves United (through the Treaty of the Pirates’ Den) and Osiris (through the Treaty of the Occident), both treaties extending to a mutual defense pact. Therefore, we took action against The League by ceasing military and diplomatic cooperation with them. These are actions we stand by, and we have no regret for supporting our then treaty ally in Osiris and our current treaty ally in Lone Wolves United.

However, the world we live in now is not the same as that of just 7 months ago. Since then, the West Pacific has withdrawn from the Treaty of the Occident, because the direction that Osiris has chosen in regards to inter-regional affairs is not one which we can associate with. Equally important to this matter was the decision from The League to rescind their declaration of war on Lone Wolves United, which maintains a friendly relation with the West Pacific as outlined in the Treaty of the Pirates’ Den. These two factors mean there’s no longer a suitable reason to maintain sanctions against the League.

To be clear, this is not a statement in support of The League, or one declaring the formation of any relations with them. Rather, this simply means that the West Pacific no longer maintains military and diplomatic sanctions against The League. Nothing more, nothing less.

WARZONE ASIA RAID – MINOR 23/10/2022

Hobbits, as we all know, were not made for adventure, they are creatures of comfort and serenity. They are very good at talking and drinking tea in their comfortable little homes in the hills, not at mingling in wars and intrigues. However, every now and then comes a time in some Hobbits' life, where they feel the urge to go out into the world to experience that sense of adventure only heard of in legends and stories the older hobbits share when they are sitting in their armchairs and smoking their pipes. One of these stories, a most cautionary tale, tells of the adventures of Warzone Asia, a formerly well-respected Hobbit. Warzone Asia had lived a perfectly stable life until they decided they would try and get themselves involved in an adventure. Sadly, on their travels, they ran into a most foul group of people. Wearing black hoods to hide their facades, the Brotherhood of Malice talked the Hobbit into entering an alliance with them. The Hobbit agreed to that alliance gladly and enthusiastically embraced their new allies, willfully ignoring the wretched and horrid things the Brotherhood stood for.

However, there were Elves and Dwarfs, from the lands of the West Pacific (led by the noble Vauron), Europeia, the Sasquatch Republic and the Land of Kings and Emperors fighting for all that is right and good, who could not let this unholy alliance wreck havoc upon Middle Earth. They entered an alliance to protect the realms from the destruction the Brotherhood brought wherever it set foot. On the 23rd day of the 10th month of the year 2000 and 22 they emptied out the land the Hobbit had occupied, to free it from the curse brought upon it.

Let this be a warning to those who choose BoM over the rest of the world. You shall be struck down like Warzone Asia was. I've got my eye on you... and now you're mine. The Eye of Vauron sees all.

The fact that anyone would mistake a community of Warzoners, for whom conflict and resilience are such essential part of what we are, with "creatures of comfort and serenity" makes me proud beyond words of what our region have achieved.

A point of fact that should not be lost to history: Jean Rowe and Velneria approached us first, and were the ones who proposed our non-aggression pact. The West Pacific has always felt unreasonably threatened by our brotherhood, portraying us as deceptive tempters who must hide behind some form of façade lest our true intentions scare anyone away. In reality, nothing could be further from the case: we are proud of who we are, and we stand by our word when it is given.

The true wolves in sheep's clothing here are The West Pacific, its cowardly delegate Giovanniland, and his dutiful propagandists such as Varanius. This level of animosity might be expected from Europeia and the Land of Kings and Emperors, who do not hide behind a "defensive" pact and relationships with other raider organizations. I at least respect those regions for engaging with us on an even playing field, though of course one must pause to laugh at how willingly the ERN signed onto an operation where dozens upon dozens of natives were expelled from their home, given their long history of pressuring raiders into toothless operations without "griefing".

No, TWP is a different beast entirely. A region who claims to need protection from the evil Brotherhood of Malice, and entertains talks of peace while holding crossed fingers behind their back. The Brotherhood has been nothing but lenient with TWP, avoiding hostilities with them at every corner despite their abhorrent treatment of our once-mutual allies, and their repeated taunts and sabotages of our genuine attempts at peace, both with the URA and with TWP itself. We've stood by stoically while they jump against us on every liberation attempt, even while their own allies stand at our side. They continue this prolonged tantrum despite genuine attempts to move past every issue between our regions. Even when the peace talks did not result in a productive outcome, we still avoided stepping on their toes anyway. A GCR's native community is the latest to fall prey to their aggression. That statement may not bother me, but it should raise eyebrows among those who claim to care about that sort of thing.

It should be plainly obvious by now that the Pax Polaris Occidens is no defense pact, it is a shield for The West Pacific to hide behind while they march ever more confidently against our brand and those who dare to even engage with it as equals. Their friends in the North may have their justifications for their opposition to the Brotherhood, but the West does not. I'm hoping that the New Pacific Order, if they are genuinely interested in peace as they say, is at least a little uncomfortable with the position that the West is putting them in.

Of course not. After all, this operation was the exact type of retaliatory, symbolic raid that Operation Sinking Ship was. If anything, Europeia has learned from Malice and embraced our style.

Curiously, in both cases it was the Brotherhood who first attempted to reach out and avoid further hostilities. Interesting how that's been working out, as if peace between our communities was ever the desire for those involved in this raid.
