About the Team

Tom Villiers is looking for a turnaround, and that is quite apparent if you look at the team that he has assembled for this year's World Cup, the 92nd edition of the tournament, and the second which he has led Team Hopal into. The last world cup cycle was supposed to be Team Hopal's formal introduction onto the world stage of international soccer. But the results for Team Hopal were less than stellar. In the Baptism of Fire, a tournament for nations participating in their first world cup cycles, Team Hopal didn't fare all too badly for themselves. They finished at the top of their group with 2 wins and 1 loss, before going on to lost in the Round of 16, 1-0 against the Trollish Islands in extra time. So Team Hopal's results in the Baptism of Fire weren't all too bad, but Tom Villiers must have been looking for more than to make it to the Round of 16. After all, most of, or at least many of the teams competing in the Baptism of Fire were competing in their first international tournament. While Team Hopal had competed in various international tournaments before, including several Independents' Cups. As a result hopes were high for Team Hopal going into the tournament, and there was this slightly arrogant attitude among fans that Team Hopal had a chance at winning it all, that the team had enough experience to wipe out all of the sport's newcomers. So this Round of 16 loss stung for many fans, and in the Team Hopal locker room too. It wasn't the best start to the world cup cycle for Team Hopal, and it would only go downhill from there. The loss in the Baptism of Fire clearly affected the Hopalian team as they went into the World Cup Qualifying, giving way to an abysmal result. With only 2 wins, 2 draws, and an astounding 16 losses in the group stage of Qualifying, this clearly was not Tom Villiers' plan for Team Hopal's grand introduction onto the world stage. The team looked disorganized and dysfunctional, they couldn't keep hold of the ball. Conceding 48 goals, while only scoring 22, the clearly couldn't keep the ball out of their net, and had some trouble getting the ball into the opposing team's net. Tom Villiers looked angry, disappointed, distraught, uncomposed, and clearly not in control of his team, throughout the tournament, as they kept on suffering through 20 matches of the group stage. Nobody was happy at the end of the tournament, the Captain Tommy Sanchez couldn't explain what went wrong, there were calls for Tom Villiers' firing, the whole locker room was at a loss for words, and they were all clearly determined to do better for next time. So, now we're here at this next time, so what's happened between these two world cup cycles? Well we have seen quite the shift in the team's personnel and as it seems Tom Villiers' ideology. He's brought in one huge new addition to his front bench. John Ashcroft is the Head Coach and General Manager of the Hopalian Under-18 Team, and he's been hired by Tom Villiers to act as his "Special Assistant" and Tactician for this tournament. Ashcroft led the U-18 team at the 17th U-18 World Cup, where he brought a really young, fun, dynamic, exciting team together, which captured the attention of the Hopalian populace, bringing itself all the way to the Round of 16, losing to Baker Park, a titan of U-18 soccer. Ashcroft had really been pushing for a U-18 National Program in Hopal, similarly to the adults' National Program, where players could train and work together all year round, something that he wishes to further by joining this National Team, and is rumoured to already be in the works. But by bringing in John Ashcroft, Tom Villiers is telling us that he's changing up his style of play, and is shifting his playing strategy to something more offensive, fast, and exciting, something more like what that U-18 team was. We can already see that in how he's putting together his lineup. He's keeping his 4-3-2-1 formation, still trying to balance his new offence-minded ideology with a good defence, keeping for good defenders out back. Two bigger, stronger, older players down the middle, Kay Redford, a longtime veteran and Assistant Captain of the team, and Karos Yamover who didn't have the best debut on the National Team way back when, but has trained hard since the last world cup cycle, and has built himself into a bigger, stronger, and more intimating force on the defence. While on the wings we have two fast and efficient youngsters in Allison Terrace and Kaylee Haboshinter, who have earned themselves a permanent spot on the Hopalian defence as two absolute workhorses, up and down and across the field. But up front is where we see the real changes, as Tom Villiers puts together his more offence-minded team. There's the veteran Peter Fikudal, the Assistant Captain who's before been called the quarterback of the team, and there's Kelly Hart and Wendy Stein right alongside him, two fast and loud midfielders, who can bring the ball right to where the attackers need them. Further up we have two brother, Uma and Harris Frey, the younger Uma emerged as a superstar way back at the 11th U-18 Championship, and more recently captained the team at the 17th U-18 World Cup, the last in which he could compete, as he just turned 19. These two haven't played together since the 11th U-18 Championship, but these are two high-flying, risk-taking, offensive-minded, goal-scoring youngsters, Uma more so than Harris, who's just recently found his element, and Tom Villiers is hoping to spark something by putting them together. Finally up front as the team's sole attacker we have long time veteran and Captain Tommy Sanchez. Now let's look at the last piece of this lineup, and that's in goal, where Team Hopal's faced numerous challenges over the last few years. After a disastrous performance the 15th Independents' Cup longtime goalkeeper Adrian Turcotte and Goalkeeping Coach Helen De Retna both retired, leaving a hole in net. Longtime backup Alex Gargin stepped into Turcotte's shoes, and Turcotte himself replaced Helen De Retna in the last World Cup Cycle, but as explained earlier that didn't end very well for Team Hopal. So for this World Cup Cycle, U-18 Team Goalkeeping Coach Karin Bartos has brought onto the National Team. Bartos has trained several young goalkeepers on the U-18 team, including the three backups for Gargin this time around, Travis Durant, Joilee Parik, and Helen Oburhabel, there are an unusual three Hopalian backup goalkeeper at this tournament, just becuase of the wide crop of young Hopalian goalkeepers that Bartos has brought up. Tom Villiers' is praying that this is the formula which will bring him success this around, or there will be real questions over whether he should face the sack.

Loyo loves baseball. It likes football. Still, the fledgling national team is intent on proving to everyone from the homeland that they can love more than one sport. Han Tamada has been called a "football prophet", spreading his passion for the game around the small island nation. Loyo was very lucky in it's initial international outing, ending a successful BoF campaign with an AET victory against Koronavia. Captain Tsujii Matashichi has announced his retirement following this World Cup Qualifying period, and his work alongside the manager has helped plant the seeds of football within the country. With that in mind, Soetanto Honghai might see some playing time between the sticks this tournament, as the Loyons moderate their expectations following their thrilling entrance into the multiversal football stage.

Oh brother. Schima Bas, an up-and-coming team in the multiversal footballing world has had quite the bumpy ride as of late. The Basian FA has fallen into a bit of a corruption scheme, as former national team manager Gaio Grieco went from a 6-1-7 record in World Cup 90 to a disastrous 4-2-13 qualifying record in World Cup 91. Turns out, the former domestic manager of second-division side Packer's Forest had been smuggling money out of the program to fatten his own pockets. While not a rarity in Schima Bas, the country was shocked that such an event could happen at the heights of the Basian game.

In light of this, the FA has appointed Qasden's Icarus Darsten with hopes that he can bring the squad back to finishing in the top half of the qualifying table. He leads an aging squad that has seen little improvement since its last outing, and the table may be stacked against him during his time with the Golden Crescent. Promising a return to the offensive play that characterized the team's first qualifying outing with manager Eugènio Tio in World Cup 89, Darsten will hope to use an experienced squad to bring the Basians back to sporting success.

I know inactivity is a part of NSS, but I sincerely want to apologize for the lateness of this roster, especially considering the fact that this is the first time I've had an international manager. I've had some things come up in my personal life, and I think this may be my last WC for a while as I focus on other matters. I still have plans to return to the WC in a few cycles, but most of my energy in the coming months will be devoted to the WBC, NSCF, and NSCAA. I want to thank the entire WC community for the past few cycles, I have enjoyed them very much, but I think I may need to step back from my participation. I look forward to returning in the future when I can devote a whole-hearted energy to RPing this great and historic competition!

Reçueçn Roster & National Information

Image
Sporting History

Reçueçn had just barely been in the World Cup long enough for people recognize the name, when it began to slip once more toward irrelevancy. The nation has had fewer opportunities than most to make forays into the world of international football. It Reçueçn debuted in the 59th Baptism of fire, before the 72nd World Cup, but accomplished very little before disappearing from international football for 10 cycles. However on its return, it made the most out of the chances it got.

During Reçueçn's absence from national sport in the interim, domestic sport in Reçueçn fell into disarray as well. Only semi-recently did things change, when a young legislative staffer named Jean-Luc Lassalle began an initiative to resurrect organized sport in the country with the government's assistance. The result of this push was the creation of the brand new Reçuecian Ministry of Sport, which promptly reorganized domestic association football leagues throughout the country and got things moving once more. Lassalle himself became the new Minister of Sport, despite his young age.

For the national team, this meant involvement once more in international competition. Reçueçn's first chance to declare its return came at the 7th Independent Associations' Championship. To the surprise of everyone, including its own fans, the unranked Reçuecian national team managed to win 3rd place, taking home its first silverware of any kind. The team itself largely consisted of the same squad that had partaken in the Baptism of Fire and World Cup qualifiers all of 10 World Cup cycles ago.

The team had struggled back then, due to the rivalries within Reçuecian domestic football, and those old wounds came back with the reestablishment of the national team. During the Baptism of Fire and Reçueçn's first international competitions, the players hadn't really had enough experience playing with each other to develop the necessary camaraderie or team spirit. Hopes were high that the creation of the Ministry of Sport would herald in a new era. Since the team was largely the same, some of the rivalries came back at first, but the team's performance at IAC 7 smoothed over its troubles and the team gelled.

Riding high on their third place finish in the IAC, the Reçuecians launched into their first qualification attempt since World Cup 73. This time, things were different: still officially unranked, Reçueçn miraculously managed to qualify for the world cup in its first attempt, even making it as far as the Round of 16. Reçueçn's first-time qualification and its consistent qualification since then is most likely the sporting accomplishment for which the nation is most known. The nation returned to the IAC even stronger and more confident; this time it knew what it was capable of, and it was hosting to boot. In its second IAC, Reçueçn got everything it could want: victory at home.

After that, the Reçuecians held steady but failed to make any meaningful advances. The nation didn't advance past the round of sixteen in either the IAC or the World Cup in either of the next two cycles. However, during IAC 11, things fell apart. With only a single victory in the first round, Les Licornes finished second-last in their group, a result that was dubbed a 'national embarassment' by Reçuecian news outlets. It was only the beginning of a downhill tumble: after coming second in its WC 87 group and losing its playoff to Pasarga, Reçueçn failed to make it to the World Cup for the first time since its return to soccer. National Coach Jacques Tremblay announced his retirement at the end of the cycle, and the next IAC was only another disappointment. Each tournament, the goal has been to 'turn things around,' the nation is finally accepting that its success was only short and sweet. Missing the 87th WC is no longer seen as just a fluke, and Reçueçn has once again been irregular in entering the World Cup. The only thing to match Reçueçn's historically fast ascension to World Cup qualification was its equally fast descent.

All time record: 117-51-54

National Team Information

L'Équipe Nationale de Reçueçn de Football is still in the process of making a name for itself, but if it's known for anything, it would be for its defensive style. This is partly due to the large influence of Reçueçn FC on the team—the most popular domestic club in Reçueçn plays about as defensive a game as you can imagine. This is balanced out to some extent by the players from other teams with more attacking philosophies, but the league as a whole tends towards defense, and it shows in the national team. Furthermore, Gerauld Firaut, the team's #1 goalie, is the best player on the team by a solid margin—without a doubt, Reçueçn's first world-class player. He and his defense form the foundation for the team as a whole.

Image
National Team Logo
The team plays in a 4-3-3 formation, but sometimes the wings drop back, almost making it a 4-5-1. In general, the team's strategy and tactics are solid. However, the team is in managerial upheaval at the moment after the shock resignation of its head coach, Jacques Tremblay. Tremblay had guided the team ever since its Baptism of Fire, but was also very old. He had prepared for stepping down by appointing Bonheur Relié as assistant coach, whose fiery personality contrasted Tremblay's gentler wisdom. Tremblay was always more popular with the players than Relié, and now that he is gone, the team may once again struggle to coalesce.

The Reçueçian National Team's mascot is the unicorn; thus another name for the team is "les licornes". The fantastical creature has been a symbol of Reçueçn for almost two millennia and is also the national animal, appearing as the supporters in the national coat of arms.

The team's kit represents the colors of the flag in a quite literal fashion. The jersey was redesigned a few cycles ago, replacing the first one les licornes ever wore, dating back to the 59th Baptism of Fire. Fans who thought the old outfit ugly are excited to see the team play wearing its new uniforms, and feel that they are now represented much more professionally.

Reçueçn has only one stadium in which its national team plays, located in the capital city (also named Reçueçn). Never having been given an official title, the national stadium is usually simply referred to just that: The National Stadium, or in French, the local language, the Stade Nationale. Capacity: 30,000.

Apologies for any inconsistencies concerning ages or current clubs for Reçuecians currently playing abroad; refer to information from their respective leagues if it differs.

Coaching Staff
Bonheur Relié: Passionate and motivated, Relié had all the youthful energy you'd hope for in the assistant coach of a side whose manager was pushing three quarters of a century. Sometimes his energy was a bit much and he's had some friction with the players in the past. Now that he's head manager that will have to be resolved.

Ägidius Heissler: Used to play as a left wing for Itrino. After retiring as a player he signed for the National Team as Paraclete, taking a promotion to Assistant Manager in the wake of Tremblay's resignation. If Relié was the bad cop to Tremblay's good cop, with Tremblay gone, Heissler fills the good cop role.

Starters
Gerauld Firaut: The face of Reçuecian football. Mature, talented, humble. Firaut, team captain, provides the leadership on the pitch that les licornes need, and the fact that he's such a nice guy when he's not playing soccer helps cement him as the nation's favored son. As some of his Reçueçn FC have retired or not been called up for this tournament, his exceptional goal-tending skills combined with Tremblay's strategy has preserved the team's defensive nature.

Emanuele Cutrona: Cutrona was in the first batch of call-ups for the National Team after the original Baptism of Fire squad, and he's still one of the younger players on the team. Until Di Martino's call-up, he was the only Italian-speaking player on the team (although others are from Italian-speaking clubs). He's developed a strong friendship with Franky Adams, which often leads to the pair of them getting in trouble.

Paulin Bourguignon: Bourguignon is the kind of defensive player who is always trying to clear the ball with long shots and score goals at corner kicks. Big on counter-attacks, he sometimes outpaces the mid-fielders, usually to his coach's dismay.

Lukas Kayserling: Very tall. Calm and controlled. Sometimes has difficulty communicating as he doesn't speak English or French as well as most of the other team members.

Oliver Spencer: Annother star defensive player, now playing for Brinemouth, Spencer is often outshone by Firaut, and for a long time Spencer couldn't decide whether the rivalry he thought they had was more important than team spirit or not. By now he has found his groove as part of the all-important back line.

Raoul Lavigne: No relation of the slightly more well-known Hippolyte Lavigne, Raoul is the second sophomore of the team: not one of the original squad but not a brand-new call-up either. He caught the NT's scouts' eyes after helping Bonneville Sportif to a couple good seasons. (He now plays in Baker Park.) Playing outside the nation has given him new things to worry about, namely, if his teammates leave him out of things since he's not a 'local' anymore. He doesn't realize how ridiculous his fears are, but fortunately they push him to prove himself every time he steps onto the field.

Harold Saunders: Saunders is synonymous with an aggressive style of play, especially in the midfield. He seems to always be able to find a way to give the ball to Franky. On and off the field he is emotionally well-balanced, usually rather stoic and unmoved.

Maynard Hebron: The unsung hero of the Assalto Alpino, Hebron is a great proponent of football development across Recuecn, especially on behalf of the smaller amateur teams that have recently joined the FNRF. Hebron often gets lucky with long shots from the edge of the box when the strikers are unable to really get open right in front of goal.

Per Tegeler: Good at receiving the ball from the defense or mid-field, trapping it in general, and taking it into the 18-yard box and shooting. Possible weakness is passing: either he doesn't, or it's long air balls. Per is the big change to the line-up since the world cup—the aging Hippolyte Lavigne was not called up again, and so now Tegeler is starting.

Frank "Franky" Adams: Young, extremely talented, and rather cocky, Franky, who plays for Association Genève in the LNRF, really makes their team. When he has a bad shooting streak, his team has a losing streak, and vice versa, and he knows it. At Association Genève, the team and the fans love him. At the national team, they tolerate him—his rivalries with Reçueçn FC's players cause tension which Coach Tremblay must try to defuse. Tremblay, incidentally, thinks Franky is a bit conceited, although he is still one of the most aware of his talent. Franky is definitely the second most famous player on the team, at least to Reçueians. His role up front helps with that, obviously.

Freeman Lebo: Lebo can score goals, is highly motivated, and persevering. He's comfortable in the striker role. However, he is high-strung and not too difficult to offend, traits which, when combined with his overestimation of his own skill, can make him difficult to get along with. Has lots of potential when a manager can get him to swallow his pride, and Tremblay usually can. Lebo and Franky got off to a rocky start but since then they've really meshed well, and they give each other great service often leading to one of them scoring.

Reserves
Estienne de Chefderue: Both of les licornes' reserve goalies were recently replaced, and de Chefderue got the number one number two spot. A couple seasons ago at FC Harrim he did well, and he got some practice in the Eagles Cup when Tremblay subbed him into a lot of matches. It remains to be seen how he'll fare in a tournament that means a bit more as since then he still hasn't seen a lot of time on the pitch.

Hagen Groos: A Reçueçn FC representative, yet again: Groos is sweeper for the club, which is supposedly the best in the country. It's probably confusing for him then why the starting sweeper position is handed to the younger Cutrona rather than him.

Jayson Compton: Not a ton to say about Jayson Compton. He's a mysterious fellow and we don't quite know what he's up to ourselves.

Quirino Lucian: Lucian has the look of a rugby player, and he'll take all the intimidation he can get from that: he needs people to know he's not afraid to muscle them down as they approach his goal—because he's not. He'll mess you up.

Barnabus Mercer: Called up for the first time at twenty-seven years old after doing very well in le championnat, some people questioned this decision of Tremblay's. Certainly it was the strongest on paper, so we'll see how it pans out. If you can believe it, Mercer played for a San Lleran club team more than ten world cups ago.

Robert Chéreau: Chéreau's biggest issue is that he tends to drift toward the center when he shouldn't, yet he ironically seems to have a very good idea of space and where to be in it, which is good for a player in his position.

Grégoire Leclair: Leclair almost never plays at the same time as Saunders. Usually, one is subbed for the other depending on whether more defensive or offensive tactics are called for at the moment. Leclair's specialty is going back and clearing the ball in difficult situations. There were thoughts Leclair wouldn't be called up this year, which would've been major news, but I guess he's been doing well enough in Savojarna for Tremblay.

Quentin Gouin: The team's new youngest player, he has breath and speed and agility. The stamina is sometimes lacking.

Marc Schöner: Schöner is the latest call-up, replacing Tegeler on the bench now that Tegeler is starting. He's fresh from winning le championnat with his club (Stomford 1904), so he's got all the energy and drive you could ask for, along with all the pride and self-assuredness.

Ly Nasser: Loves to shoot from far out, and often shoots high. Despite this, he makes up for it with his sheer number of shots. Incredibly aggressive, and loved by Zimmerich fans. Thinks he is one of the best strikers in the world, and he certainly is a good player. Weirdly he gets put on the Reçuecian reserves, you'd expect him to be playing with Lebo and Franky.

Jean-Baptiste Brochard: Immensely fast, especially with the ball, Brochard is weaker in set pieces and organized attacks. His strength is the counter-attack and the breakaway.

Calanico Di Martino: Unfortunately Di Martino's given name doesn't quite just mean 'soccer,' although it is close. His parents must have known there was something special about him. He has a toe that moves with wings—useful for delivering powerful goal kicks but perhaps wasted on a player who never gets to shoot.

Reçuecian History and Culture

The nation of Reçueçn was created in the first half of the XIVth century, when Carl Blancpic, Duke of the Duchy of Reçueçn, launched a breakneck military campaign invading and annexing many of his neighbors to the east. Before this time, Reçueçn had been only a city, built on the heights overlooking the junction of the Rhône and Saône rivers. These heights had been settled by Carl Blancpic's distant ancestor, Ifheda Rcuecn, near the end of the IInd century a.d., and had born his name ever since. The area at that time belonged to the Roman Empire, who had established their regional administrative center, Lugdunum, on the other side of the river.

In 197 a.d., a decisive battle was fought near Lugdunum in one of the civil wars for the throne of the empire. The victor, Septimius Severus, razed the city of Lugdunum and destroyed it, stripping from it all imperial privileges in punishment for supporting his rival. This was the end for Lugdunum, but it was the beginning for Reçueçn. Refugees flocked across the river to join the settlement, and the city of Reçueçn grew to become a smallish regional center. Rcuecn's descendants (who changed the spelling to Reçueçn) maintained control over what became the Duchy of Reçueçn for 700 years, until it was inherited by their cousins the Blancpics who reigned for another 300 years.

At the beginning of the XIVth century, power passed into the hands of Carl Blancpic, who was partially insane and a megalomaniac. Thus he declared his duchy to be a kingdom and singled out weak neighbors who he invaded with audacity. Over an incredibly short period of time beginning in the spring of 1337, he had carved out for himself a sizable dominion.

Carl, who styled himself "Carl III of Reçueçn", was violent, unstable, and petty. He was also wildly unpopular with the populations of the various states he had conquered. Although the central power structure helped the economy of the new Kingdom of Reçueçn to some extent, it did not bring with it all the stability that might have been expected. This was mostly due to the decrees of Carl III, who, among other things, began a campaign to persecute and kill all "heretics" within his new realm. Most historians agree that this was in fact a thinly veiled purge of his political rivals. This and other policies he enacted on his whims finally drove the people into open revolt sometime around 1352.

Carl managed to hold on to power for a couple years by hiring mercenaries, but in 1254 lost two key battles and was captured by the rebels. By this time, the rebellion was led by feudal lords throughout the country who had sided with the people against their tyrant king. Carl III was executed, and the kingdom dissolved into a mess of tiny, independent feudal holdings.

No sooner had the various states that had been in the Kingdom of Reçueçn won their independence, than infighting broke out among them. The feudal lords squabbled over power and influence, trying vainly to imitate Carl's meteoric rise to power. This new violence, combined with the economic downturn associated with the rebellion and the breakup of the nation, clearly displayed how poorly things were turning out. More sensible minds came to the decision that the solution was to once more unify Reçueçn.

On November 19, 1356, therefore, The Allied States of Reçueçn came into being. The leaders of all the petty states, duchies, bishoprics, free cities, etc., came together and signed what are known as "The Treaties of the Alliance," a document just powerful enough to classify Reçueçn as a single nation by most people's definition, rather than a group of independent entities. The treaties also established a rough form of democracy, with each state represented (although typically by its aristocracy). Thus Reçueçn lays claim to being one of the oldest democracies in the world.

The treaties defined much of Reçuecian history to come. Provisions were made to establish freedom of religion, in order to avoid another scenario similar to Carl III's persecution of his opponents. The treaties also gave Reçueçn an isolationist bent. The nation had been burned before, and wouldn't soon try to meddle in external affairs, especially when its composite nature made creating a foreign policy so difficult.

Reçueçn, then, has managed to avoid many of the crises of European history. It's darkest moment came when Napoleon invaded, proclaiming himself emperor (although he allowed Reçueçn's government to continue to function under his reign). The allied states have drawn closer together, although cultural differences remain among them; they don't even all speak the same language.

Reçueçian culture has also been shaped by its location, nestled in the center of the Alps. The difficulty of travel among mountain valleys ensured the cultural diversity of the nation and preserved local customs. Although rural communities did center around agriculture—especially dairy production—many Reçuecian were forced by the lack of arable land to find other work. This led to a culture of innovation that continues today: Reçueçn is now known for its luxury products and technological exports. This has additionally led to a focus on science and education. The relatively diverse nature of Reçueçn's culture means that some areas are culturally more time-oriented while others are more task-oriented, but this fusion has given the country a uniqueness, especially in art. Reçueçn, perhaps thanks to its inland, mountainous location, or the fact that it was never a colonial power, has seen little immigration or emigration. Recently, however, the diversity of language spoken in the country has made it attractive to refugees from other areas where those languages are spoken.

Visiting Reçueçn

Reçueçn is a small nation, but it's got a lot to see. If you're visiting for World Cup qualification, you may want to extend your stay to see the sights.

Travelling to and in Reçueçn
Most travelers to Reçueçn will fly into Reçueçn city. As the capital and largest city, it will definitely have the flight connection you need. Genève, the nation's second city, will also accommodate you in this regard, but all the games will be happening in Reçueçn. If you are travelling from a nearby country, arriving by rail is also a possibility, and many more Reçuecian cities have international rail connections than have international airports.

For travel within the country, taking the train is probably the way to go. Car rentals are fairly expensive, and many cities restrict downtown access to pedestrians and public transport. When travelling through the countryside, you will find that autoroutes have high tolls, and smaller roads are typically wind annoyingly through steep mountain terrain. However, there is an extensive rail and tunnel network, and taking the train is fairly cheap between most places in the nation. Bus routes also connect most larger towns. Within cities themselves, public transport is always very high quality and usually very affordable or in some cities, even free. A few bus lines are temporarily free to travel during the tournament, in a government-led effort to promote tourism and encourage visitors to explore the country beyond just the soccer matches.

What to See
Presumably if you're reading this, the main attraction that has brought you to Reçueçn is World Cup qualification. All the games will be played just a short bus ride away from Reçueçn International Airport at the National Stadium in Reçueçn's inner suburbs. But if you want to see a bit more of the nation, consider taking a ride up to a cute alpine village and hiking along a mountain ridge to appreciate the amazing views we have to offer. Or take a swim in a mountain lake and cool off in the shadow of the peaks. If you really are looking to ditch the heat, check out the ice tunnels at the Écho glaciers. Or, if you come during the winter, you can hit the slopes—our skiing's the best in the world.

If the mountains aren't for you, consider visiting our world-famous cheese museum - free samples! Or visit the Genève Cathedral if the culture you're looking for isn't bacterial. Genève, Reçueçn, Zimmerich and other cities each have a beautiful downtown historic district worth the walking tour. Check them out if your idea of a good time means wandering through medieval fortifications or strolling down cobbled alleys. If what's up your alley is shopping, then we've got that too - check out Genève's luxury district for high end jewelry, fashion, watches, and more. Exchanging your money should be no problem: the Reçueçian guilder is very stable and worth just a bit more than the NSD.

Where to Stay, What to Eat
If you are on the search for the perfect hotel for your stay in Reçueçn, worry not. Plenty of all kinds abound in and around each major city, whether you're looking for the four star experience, or just want to save a buck. If you'd rather have the personal, local touch, then we've still got you covered: a quick look online will reveal plenty of family-owned bed & breakfasts, as well as short-term rentals with people trying to make some money off the empty spare room one night or week at a time. Hostels are also very popular in Reçueçn, and are a great way to stay near the city center for a very low cost.

What'll you have for dinner? Reçueçn's food is what will make you want to come back for another visit. We love our cheeses, and our national specialty is raclette, melted cheese scraped over small potatoes, cornichons, and salami. Try it at a restaurant where each table is provided with its own small oven so each diner can melt their own. Another local specialty is tartiflette, essentially a casserole of potatoes, onions, and lardon (thick-cut bacon) served with a slab of, you guessed it, more melted cheese cooked right over it.

If rather than in a seat at a fine dining establishment, you find yourself in an alpine pasture hankering for a pique-nique, don't worry. Cheese is great for a basket-lunch too. Bring along a baguette and a saucisson, and you've got yourself a meal.

No meal in Reçueçn is complete without a glass of wine, and the local product is certainly worth the connoisseur's time. Reçuecian wine varies immensely depending on whether you're south, west, or north of the Alps, so try a few varieties and pick your favorite. If you need a pairing for your meal, it just so happens that every single person you meet on the street in the country is a self-proclaimed expert ready with helpful advice. Just don't stop them on their way home for dinner.

Do's and Don't's

Do say "Bonjour" to those you pass in a small town. Don't block the the metro in the city. Do take your time to enjoy a meal or a conversation in western Reçueçn. Don't be late in eastern Reçueçn. Do greet people with a kiss on each cheek. Don't actually let your lips touch them. Do cheer loudly for your team! Don't go too crazy with the victory party. Do take a selfie with your head on the block at execution square in downtown Reçueçn. Don't miss out on your visit because you're on your phone the whole time. Do rent a bike and pedal around to see the sights. Don't be unprepared to parallel park if you've rented a car. Do make eye contact during a conversation. Don't stare at people. Do be ready to share gossip with perfect strangers. Don't expect people to open up to you right away. Do keep your hands above the table at dinner. Don't yawn during a conversation. Do offer to help your host with cleaning up. Don't ask for seconds until offered. Do speak your mind and be straightforward. Don't bank on too much personal space.

Do have the time of your life.

Eastfield Lodge Roster for World Cup 92

Image

Demonym: Eastfielder

The Imperial Commonwealth of Eastfield Lodge is a vast conglomerate of nations and states that resides almost entirely in a separate dimension to the reality you all know and love - a bubble universe would be an apt description (the why is a long story, involving the Dreamed Realm and a threat to the existence of the entire universe). The one bit of the country that lies in the regular dimension is a tiny island in the northern seas of the famous sporting region Rushmore, which serves as a transport hub for travel across the region by conventional transport, and for travel to the Imperial Commonwealth via something called a Void Ship (think of it like travelling through a well controlled wormhole).

The history of the country is long and complex, but the key overview is that it is a very socialist Muslim constitutional monarchy, with a noted reputation as being one of the nicest places to visit in the entirety of the known multiverse - the most recent WA census puts the Imperial Commonwealth in the top 100 nations in several measures such as Safety, Compliance/freedom from crime, Tourism, Weather, Compassion, Niceness and Environmental Beauty, amongst several others; most of which are also ranked as the best in the Rushmore region. Because of the initial portal, the nation advanced forwards in leaps and bounds technologically due to intermingling with denizens of another dimension, various alien races from the universe in which the popular RLStates TV show Doctor Who is situated. Whilst these aliens used to take part in life in the Imperial Commonwealth, even forming the Eastfielder National Team for a number of tournaments, they no longer exist in this bubble universe, due to a dimensional shift no longer aligning the two dimensions - for now, Eastfield Lodge only contains those beings that you find elsewhere in the NS multiverse.

Whilst we are a fairly chill nation, we are still fairly socially conservative, and there are plenty of special rules visitors need to be aware of:
  • No Alcohol. At all.
  • No smoking or recreational drugs at all. Visiting team members/fans will be given replacement/cessation therapy if struggling to cope.
  • No public displays of affection. What you get up to in the privacy of your own hotel room is up to you, as long as it stays there.
  • There isn't a legally enforced dress code, but at least dress respectfully, the locals will appreciate you.
  • Cities are by and large car-free zones; make use of the extensive public transport system.
  • Don't worry about a language barrier, there is an inbuilt telepathic translation circuit within the visas that you will be issued - it translates all speech and text into a language you understand instantaneously.
  • No unhealthy junk food will be available, the country is too healthy for that. Also, the food will all be halal, but there is an extensive range of vegetarian/vegan options for those who insist.
  • Ignore all the cameras and the police presence. They're for the safety of everyone.
  • High-level technology pervades every aspect of society and life here, get used to it.

Lodger City Memorial Stadium
Location: New Lodger City
Capacity: 150,000
Description: The home of Eastfielder football, the stadium was built on the ruins of the old capital of Eastfield Lodge, Lodger City, which was flattened in a double disaster (severe floods from dams bursting and an explosion from an unknown source, killing much of the population of the city and rendering the city useless. Administrative functions were transferred over to Lodgertia, the city began to be rebuilt, and it was decided that this stadium would be one of the monuments erected in place. The inside walls contains inscriptions of the names of all the dead – just under 9 million. The stadium used to play host to the two classic giants of EL football – RGS Athletic and VLC FC - until both had their new stadiums finished; it is now only used for internationals and cup matches.

Parliament Stadium
Location: Lodgertia
Capacity: 80,000
Description: Formerly the second largest stadium in Eastfield Lodge (until King Iqbal II and Vorgan Park were completed), behind the Memorial Stadium in New Lodger City, it was built in the centre of Lodgertia, the capital of Eastfield Lodge, and the Imperial Commonwealth. It was named due to the fact that the Parliament is based just a few hundred metres down the road; in fact, the original stadium was actually joined to the Parliament building, as an area where MPs could watch or even engage in sport with the public, as well as being a designated protest site. However, with Lodgertia becoming more built up, it was decided that the stadium needed to be built up as well. It is home to Lodgertia United and Lodgertia City alongside being temporary hosts of RGS Athletic and VLC FC (when Lodger City was being rebuilt), and in the past has hosted several international matches, including the final of SBCC 27 and a group in both stages of Market Cup 4.

Tavernia Stadium
Location: Tavernia
Capacity: 65,921
Description: Currently the largest stadium outside of Eastfield Lodge itself, Tavernia Stadium sits near the heart of the city of Tavernia, in Westmeadow Tavern, the nation bordering Eastfield Lodge. WC85 will see the stadium's debut when it comes to hosting the Eastfield Lodge National Team, but it is no stranger to WC football though - it was the home ground for Westmeadow Tavern when they had their own international football team in the earlier years of the Imperial Commonwealth. It is also home to the two best teams in Westmeadow Tavern, with FC Tavernia and Tavernia City plying their trade here.

Manager: Robert Andrews
Age: 61. The former national team striker, who had over a century of international appearances to his name during his career, was specifically recruited by a former Eastfielder manager, his old friend and ex-teammate Shabeen Ahmad III. Being the national team's assistant manager was his first major job in football since his playing retirement, but his ability to calmly analyse situations even under immense pressure has earned him some plaudits from those in the know, and as such allowed the ICELFA some confidence in appointing him as the interim manager for Cup of Harmony 77 - however, things haven't gone well since, and Robert only remains in the job courtesy of it being a poisoned chalice no sane manager wants to approach. After the disaster of World Cup 87, he rung the changes, almost root-and-stem, and removed much of the ageing squad in time for the most recent Copa Rushmori - the team didn't gel well, but one would hope that, with time, they'll come together and bring some glory to the Imperial Commonwealth.

Formation: 3-3-3-1
Image

It's a defensive formation for Eastfield Lodge, with three at the back, but still retaining the rotating attack system - striker and three players in behind moving about to find space. The central defender of the back three has permission to advance forwards on attack, allowing the formation to switch from a 3-3-3-1 to a more balanced 4-2-3-1 or even 4-1-4-1 in attacks, whilst the wingbacks retain the same attacking freedom they had under the previous 4-1-2-3 system. In terms of goal scoring, the ST will get the bulk of the goals, with good contributions from the AM and both WFs as well. The WFs will get most of the assists, followed closely by the AMs, then the ST, DM and the wingbacks.

NB: As the people of EL are extremely compassionate, and very civilised (despite what you may say about the religion), it would be uncharacteristic for the coaches/players to lose their temper, dive deliberately (jumping out of the way of bad tackles and falling awkwardly doesn't count), to be sent to the stands (if the ref is clearly very biased however...), spit, argue with the ref or fight. Players will also tend to inform the referee about mistakes/clarifications in judgement regarding throw-ins, fouls given but with no contact and goal kicks/corner kicks (plus other bouts of honesty - up to you).

TEAM

STAFF
Coach: Victoria Maersk
Age: 44 // Coach since: WCQ 92
A legend of the Savojar game, Victoria Maersk has been playing for the relatively unknown women’s team of Amazonia Valdhavn, when two things happened at the international level: The Savojar Women’s National Team won the Copa Rushmori 31 with a 23 year old Maersk playing a relevant role as a utility sub in the midfield, and Savojar pro football was fully integrated, resulting in the dissolution of her team. As a result, she was picked up on a free transfer by North Sabrefell in Nephara, the first player to move from Savojarna to the then Premiership. From then onwards, she captained the Savojar National Team at two World Cups and wore the armband for Vermillion Rage in the Zenith - and after her retirement, went into coaching training, being called up surprisingly to the Northlights now. Tactically somewhat of a wildcard, she works together with a large batch of the team that followed her when she did her coaching training in the Rotor Värstjö youth system and the Högvald national academy and is likely to employ a solid, flexible 4-4-2 relying on quick vertical play.

Coaching Team: Ingmar Söderby, Nicolai Kruul Jensen, Knut Sörensen, Lasse Tjoer, Valtteri Andersson
Ages: 53, 41, 44, 52, 59 // Special functions: Head Scout, Video analyst, Technical coach, condition trainer, GK Coach

Ingmar Söderby has been working in the system of Libertas Bergheim for a while, where he has found gems such as Knud Vingegaard and Jakub Jaranski. He changed over to the SFFB to work at Högvald, where he was working with Maersk during her coaching education. He has been taking a more active role in the selection committee as well as strategic coaching alongside Maersk.
Nicolai Kruul Jensen and Knut Sörensen have been co-coaches with Maersk at Rotor, and for Sörensen also at Högvald. Having been signed away from the SFFB after being a technical coach at the Academy, he now returned to the national federation alongside his friend and head coach Maersk. Kruul Jensen has been the video analyst at Rotor and a former striker in the SFS B, taking a somewhat more active role in the offence while Maersk orients her focus more on the work off the ball.
Lasse Tjoer is the physical coach and condition trainer, and has previously worked for multiple SFS A teams. He places a lot of emphasis on discipline, but gives the players a large amount of freedom to tune their practice regime to their own tastes as long as they stick to the targets. He is quite popular in the team, and a good motivator.
Andersson was a long-term goalkeeper for Energie Thorsborg and got directly transferred into the club's youth department when he retired at age 33. Following some good work with the club's youth department, he got trained as a GK coach and worked with the first team and the U21 of Energie for a while before being brought onto the squad of the NT early on. He still works with Energie on the side and is reputed to be very good at developing a goalkeeper's weaknesses.

Doctor: Dr. Christer Ljungberg
Age: 65
Christer is the head of the medical team of the Savojar NT and generally has a reputation of being the team’s good soul. Many players have come to him over the years to discuss their insecurities or physical problems, to the point that many consider Ljungberg to essentially be a second mental coach.

TEAM

Goal

1	GK	Aleksandra Virulainen	Partisan Sjoedrhavn	F	32
12 GK Konstantin Pavarenko SK Cuprum Grennvik M 27
20 GK Olga Valujev CASK Thorsborg F 24

Aleksandra Virulainen will take the helm between the posts. She is an SFS A veteran who has won titles with Partisan, and shines through her space control and spatial awareness. On the downside, she is relatively short, putting her at a disadvantage on the line. Olga Valujev has taken over as the second goalkeeper behind her, having a relatively similar playstyle with a tiny bit more shot-stopping power and somewhat less command over her backline. She has found success, winning the IFCF Champions League with CASK Thorsborg, but is not as proven internationally. In the third position, Sergei Sharin has been replaced with Konstantin Pavarenko, who has performed exceptionally with SK Cuprum, but is relatively unlikely to play in the tournament.

Defence

2	LB	Ansgar Klaey CASK Thorsborg M	27
5 LB/RB Milla Viipuri AFC Corvistone (NPH) F 29
18 LB/RB Henrik Halvorsen CASK Thorsborg M 26
3 CB Polina Zirkova Ulsa (EUR) F 33
4 CB Vidkun Nymark Dynamo Sjoedrhavn M 29
16 CB Sven Vikarby Partisan Sjoedrhavn M 25
22 CB Brynjar Hatun CASK Thorsborg M 25
15 RB Alvin Strid Libertas Bergheim M 25

On the left side, Ansgar Klaey and Milla Viipuri are similar types of players, both of them being well-balanced, somewhat conservative fullbacks who will have the ability to drive forward, but usually wait with doing so until an attack is solidly established. Both are also enduring players that can keep up with the pace of an international game for 90 minutes; Viipuri has the ability to play on both sides, adding a lot of versatility to the squad. Polina Zirkova is the undisputed organiser of the central backs, with good skills with the ball on her feet and good eyes to spot buildup opportunities. She will likely be complimented by the more defensive and calm Vidkun Nymark, but Champions League champion Brynjar Hatun - receiving his first callup to an international tournament - can be a strong alternative, and also has a lot of experience in ordering a defence at CASK Thorsborg. The fourth man in the team, Sven Vikarby, is a younger option that stands out through his uncompromising attitude and skill to deliver accurate tackles. Viipuri is likely to see significant playtime on the right side against more offensive teams, whereas Alvin Strid is the only true wingback in the squad. He is fast and technically adept, having played as a right midfielder in a 3-4-3 early in his career, and has a well-developed cross; however, he is prone to getting caught out when faced with fast, counter-attacking opposition. Henrik Halvorsen is the final option at the back, a versatile player that has seen utility play in the CASK team that won the CL, and can play as a jack of all trades, although he might be a bit of a master of none.

Midfield

17	LM	Finn Östberg Lokomotive Jarnstad	M	29
23 LF Kimi Hartikainen CASK Thorsborg M 28
6 DM Markko Niskanen Newrook City (NPH) M 29
8 CM Vladimir Orakhin Goodfeather FC (NPH) M 25
14 CM/OM Jelena Tretjakov Dynamo Sjoedrhavn F 24
10 OM Morten Poulsen Partisan Sjoedrhavn M 34
7 RM Mikhail Jashkin Directus (EUR) M 34
21 RM Kaisa Gyldenström AFC Corvistone (NPH) F 27

In central midfield, all four players are likely starters depending on the slant Maersk wants to give the team. Markko Niskanen, a physical and defensively very conscientious player, is the most defensive option. Steeled by the Zenith and a veteran, he is likely to take the brunt of defensive work. Orakhin is another Zenith player who is good at shuttling the ball and known for his stamina, similar to the more offensive Jelena Tretjakov. Morten Poulsen, finally, is a veteran playmaker who has a penchant for deep runs into the box, arriving late to score himself or find a last pass. He has been captaining Partisan Sjoedrhavn for many years, and is a natural leader to drive forward play. On the left side, Kimi Hartikainen is an offensively skilled winger who played a crucial role in CASK’s Champions League run, but can be defensively vulnerable. Against stronger, more offensive opposition, the two-way oriented Östberg is likely to start, as he is considered the best forward player in Savojarna when it comes to working backwards and defending the ball. A deadly crosser as well, he is a flexible team player. On the right side, long-time superstar Mikhail Jashkin has lost his starting spot at Directus, and is less certain to start as he used to. He is an accurate passer and crosser, and extremely conscientious player who will put himself at the team’s service at any time. Kaisa Gyldenström has speed and technique on her side, and is expected to be used situationally to provide more direct threats from the side. She is more likely to move inside than Jashkin, but is also able to provide good passes and crosses; defensively, she lacks a little compared to Jashkin, and may start in some games.

Forwards

9	ST	Lars Alvesen Stahlburg City (NPH)	M	23
11 ST Sven Ehlers Falourr (EUR) M 28
13 ST Victor Hedenberg Ibini FC (VAL) M 27
19 ST Rasmus Medberg Hansen CASK Thorsborg M 21

Up front, Sven Ehlers has grown into a star player of this side and is the likely starter, a smart player who will try to create danger from between the lines as a hanging striker. Ehlers is rather short but quick, mobile, and a good linker as well as a good finisher. Besides him, Lars Alvesen is a physical poacher that has established himself at Partisan before moving abroad this season. Using his height and strength, he likes to drive forward and slyly take chances that Ehlers sets up for him. The third option this time is Victor Hedenberg, a clever striker who likes the hanging position as well. He is less of a goal scorer and more of a player that tends to bring in his partner, winger, or offensive midfielder by playing balls backwards or sideways when there is an option. He also has a good sense of pressing and is likely to play defensive roles as well. Rasmus Medberg Hansen has been signed to CASK Thorsborg as the answer to Alvesen, and hasn’t been shining as much yet until this season, where he truly found his own place alongside Jekaterina Smolov and played a crucial role in the side’s CL victory.

Electrum National Football Team
presented by Electrum Football

General Information

Once a humble team comprised of human footballers, this team is one of the few to have failed in its attempt to not win the World Cup. This failure happened in World Cup 78, although many Electrumites like to pretend this failure never happened. A few short cycles after this win, the Electrumite team, along with their compatriots, froze in time after a disastrous experiment with time particles called chrons. Honestly it would have been better if it were Crohn's instead. It was at this point that our kindly, most benevolent, yet mysterious five dimensional leader The Computator, four beings that share a single voice, unfroze the nation and put it back on track. Why did The Computator decide to unfreeze the nation? To learn and understand the game of football which is surely a game that can be predicted with a hundred percent certainty given the variables. To test this theory, chaos is the aim of the game for the Elecrumite national football team, with the introduction of extra-dimensional players thanks to The Computator. This strategy finally worked with the return of Electrum to the final stages in World Cup 89, where they were the only nation to beat eventual World Cup winners Ko-oren. It really makes you think how they could not follow that up by qualifying for World Cup 90 or World Cup 91 but that's neither here nor there or everywhere. It's precisely the fear that we are going to lose our World Cup 89 points that we have decided to host World Cup 92 in order to keep up the illusion that we are a credible football team that is to be feared.

The Electrumite team is still shaking off the effect of the chrons so all of our team is exactly one year older compared to the previous World Cup. We are like elephants with long memories, long trunks and seemingly taking forever to age. And just like elephants we are rather lazy so the football team has been retained. Although the last match they played was at the Eagle's Cup, this was deemed sufficient preparation for the Electrumite team, so expect them to be a little rusty -- perhaps it would have been better if they accepted those requests for friendlies during qualification.

Best World Cup record: Champion (WC78)
Worst World Cup record: Censored
WCC match record: Unknowable

Coaching Staff
Manager: Tyler Fernando
Assistant Manager: Jemima Bryant
Development Manage: Risa Shigaraki

Tyler Fernando, sentient creature with noted footballing skills, has been appointed for another cycle to manage the Electrumite team. Fernando has finally made the team's unique biological composition work with an appearance at World Cup 89 Finals. He is known for being in the World Cup Failing Team of '78, piloting the team with his superb captaincy. He is also known for dismissing that large stone in the shape of an egg which appeared for Electrum in one cycle.

Roster
Starting XI
#1 Ralph Mills - 29 - GK - Image Hamilton Sandstorm
A studious goalkeeper, Mills graduated top of his economics class and is well versed in game theory, in particular simultaneous games related to the taking of penalties. His crib notes are dozens of pages long with various analyses of opposing penalty-takers depending on any situation that may arise. Sometimes these notes may fly in the wind.

#4 Elenora Sapper - 25 - DF - Image Pinkerton FC
The youngest member of the starting XI, Sapper is QUICK with unrivalled stamina running across the pitch. She likes to provoke and get in her opponent's faces and toes the line with the referees.

#5 Bayden Forest - 30 - DF - Image Hamilton Sandstorm
A tall, bulky player who is described as a cross between a tree and a brick wall, with his intelligence between those two objects. Nice guy though.

#15 Marcus Renshaw - 29 - FW - Image FC Fairleigh-Warburton
Renshaw only communicates using emojis in group conversations and it's really starting to bug us. Also he has eczema.

#9 Sentient Energy Ball (Seb) - ?? - FW
Seb will be wearing a fabric spherical 'jacket' which conveniently looks like a normal football at certain angles. This is a strange attempt to get the opposition off for kicking a player deliberately for a red card. Let's see if it works after this strategy has been used for two cycles. When short tempered, easily short circuited.

#12 William Stewart - 27 - DF - Image University
There is absolutely nothing interesting about William Stewart except for the fact that his name is comprised of two first names.

#13 Julius van Buren - 32 - MF - Image Grenville Sailors
van Buren, as his name suggests, is very flashy. Likes to run circles around his opponents and great at manipulating the ball and getting past opponents. Getting a little bit old but his spot on the team is justified with his flashes of brilliance.

#27 Crystal Le - 32 - DF - Image Kale Island Dwarfs
A long time second string player, Le finds herself with a golden opportunity after Alan Moore's retirement. Le is adept with the ball but sometimes plays too selflessly to her detriment.

#20 Nindethana Nindethana (c) - 31 - MF - Image Eastal Lunar
Nicknamed Nindethana squared, her favourite board game is Maxopoly and she is one of the few Kale Islanders on the team. She possesses mystical powers to open portals between two locations at short distance but refuses to use those advantages in a football match. Honourable.

#22 Einarsson, King of the Armoured Bears - ?? - MF
An old friend of The Computator's, Einarsson has played in the Electrumite team as a favour to our nation's leader. To him, ten years of Earth time is equivalent to six months of bear time, so really this is kind of a short vacation rather than a long-term thing.

#24 Android X4-TU in the shape of a flightless bird - ?? - MF
The talons of Android X4-TU (upgraded from version X3-TU) are known to puncture balls, so opponents are often very keen to get the ball away from it. Often matches are delayed to replace the ball.

Stadium Info:The Football Association of Vilita is based at the Tivali-Ring Stadium (87,000 Seating Capacity) in the capital city of Alikki-Corra, Vilita and many National Team training sessions take place on the grounds of the Tivali-Ring. The Tivali-Ring complex was constructed as part of the Vilitan bid to host the World Cup 14 Cup of Harmony as a replacement to the former National Stadium in Lopinka that was destroyed during a regional conflict. 'The Ring' has since hosted countless international matches including high profile matches such as the World Cup 31 Final and the 40th Series 'B' Champions Cup Final. However, as host of the World Cup 92 Finals, Vilita's opening match will be played at the larger capacity (126,000) Lunar Park in Seraai, Vilita - the host site of the World Cup 90 Final.

Vilita will often play in a traditionally Vilitan 3-1-4-2 formation with a style modifier of +3.14. Against weaker opposition they may instead play a 3-4-3.

The coaches will select the squad from the National Player pool. Players are listed below, grouped by position and sorted by projection 'Depth Chart' position where the top player listed is most likely to be named the first player selected for that position, and so on. Depth chart positions are determined by performance in pre-cup training sessions, as well as performance and average ratings in the Vilitan League competition and previous appearances for the National Team. If you RP First please use the following lineup as a base for your RP. You may switch players out from the lineup to fit scoring line / preferred players.

Lineup: [GK] Zelkki Milake Jr., [D.] Injyua Klizlo, [D.] Narri Sebapilo, [D.] Awukchu L’bakka, [DMC] Letirpsi Vulitn, [ML] Fyin Miateal, [MC] Trezisi Rokopolis, [MC] Jakku’u Naboyavi, [MR] Lentali Purama, [FC] Takaara Milanzi, [FC] Diamoa Waviino

If Vilita RP's first, the lineup is unlikely to directly resemble the above and will be selected from the pool below:

HEAD COACH:

Image
Endur Rotropii [ - Vilita National Team Staff - ]
Head Coach ( AGE: 53 :: [ NT CAPS: 82 :: NT GOALS: 12 ] :: [ V&T CAPS: 0 :: V&T GOALS: 0 ] )
TROPHIES :: [ : World Cup 68 : ][ : AOCAF 42 : ][ : Olympic Gold Medal : ]
Rotropii made his debut for Marine Coast United during Season 38 and quickly grew popular with the fans in Crosaibi, being named Marine Coast's player of the season in his rookie campaign. Rotropii scored his first career international goal during World Cup 65 Qualifying in a 4-1 victory over Mashiki. Rotropii was still active for selection to the Vilita National Team during World Cup 77 but was not a member of the World Cup Winning side, retiring from international play shortly after. Following the Vilita National Team's failure to qualify for World Cup 89 - the first such failure during or since Rotropii's career as a player, the former defender decided to start up a competing National Academy in a comparatively remote section of the Tivali Jungle. The "Rebel Academy" aimed to produce a "new generation" of Vilitan talent and was at first largely ignored by Vilitan League clubs. However, after Vilita's winless exit from a World Cup hosted on home soil, things changed entirely. A Clean wipe out of the Vilita National Coaching Staff came with a new edict: Out with the old, in with... something new. The Football Association of Vilita called upon Rotropii to lead the team for World Cup 91 Qualifying and it is no surprise that the former Marine Coast United defender has called upon some of his own trainees to be invited to Vilita National Team Training Camp prior to World Cup 91 Qualifying. After leading the Rebels to the World Cup 91 Finals despite having been drawn into a Qualifying Group with reigning World Cup Champion the Holy Empire, Endur Rotropii has been given one more campaign to try to restore the Vilitan National Team to its former glory. It is believed that while the Rebel Academy experiment has proven popular amongst fans, failure once more to escape from the Group Stage at home in the World Cup Finals would mark an end to the Rebel Projects in the eyes of the Vilitan Football Association, and could spell the end of Vilitan footsport as we know it.

GOALKEEPERS:
Image
Zelkki Milake Jr. [ - Eastal Lunar - ]
GK ( AGE: 24 :: [ NT CAPS: 19 :: NT CLEAN SHEETS: 1 ] :: [ V&T CAPS: 14 :: V&T CLEAN SHEETS: 4 ] )
TROPHIES :: [ : Di Bradini Cup 50 : Olympic Gold Medal : ] : Stellar Division : Tropical Trophy :
Milake's domestic career wouldn't go as smoothly, however, and after spending 2 seasons in the Declasse after Lonngeylin Coast's relegation, the World Cup winner returned to his roots, re-signing for high-flying Eastal Lunar in Season 46. Offspring of famed Vilitan netminder Zelkki Milake, one of the youngest Starting netminders in history to win the World Cup Final (World Cup 68), Milake has followed in their fathers footsteps by taking on the Goalkeepers Gloves and now trains under their father at Eastal Lunar FC. While not expected to compete for a place on the Vilitan National Team anytime soon, the sky is the limit for the Astronaut Trainee who is also, quite literally, an Astronaut Trainee attending school at the Astronaut Academy at the nearby Vilitan Space Outpost. Milake Jr.’s debut would come as a surprise starter against Delaclava on the second matchday of the 50th Di Bradini Cup. At just 16 years of age the younger Milake would make a name for themselves winning each of their four starts in the competition and helping to lead Vilita & Turori to their first Under-21 World Cup Title in over 60 cycles. Milake Jr. would make their first start for the Vilitan National Team in a 2-2 draw against Savojarna during the penaltimate matchday of World Cup 88 Qualifying before adding to their Medal Wall as the starting goalkeeper in the Quarter Final and Semi-Final rounds of the Vilitan Union’s XV Olympic Gold Medal Campaign.

Image
Ukamai Talingri [ - Monmouth Park (CBP) - ]
GK ( AGE: 26 :: [ NT CAPS: 11 :: NT CLEAN SHEETS: 5 ] :: [ V&T CAPS: 5 :: V&T CLEAN SHEETS: 1 ] )
TROPHIES :: [ : Olympic Gold Medal : ]
A local player in Kiiarana City, Talingri impressed with their shot-stopping abilities in front of scouts for the Vilitan National Team and was drafted into the Vilita and Turori Eel Cat Things Squad for the 51st Di Bradini Cup Competition as third string behind Derizi Amatopa and Zelkki Milake Jr. Talingri would lead Kiiarana City to the Tropicorp Youth Cup Title. Talingri Would also represent the Vilitan Union in the 15th Summer Olympiad starting two Group stage matches before serving as backup for the remainder of the tournament as the Vilitan Union earned the Gold Medal with a shootout victory over Chromatika. Talingri’s display of talent would earn them a transfer to Monmouth Park in the Commonwealth of Baker Park

Image
Altirii Touiniki [ - Rebel Academy - ]
GK ( AGE: 17 :: [ NT CAPS: 2 :: NT CLEAN SHEETS: 1 ] :: [ V&T CAPS: 1 :: V&T CLEAN SHEETS: 0 ] )
TROPHIES :: [ : Olympic Gold Medal : ] : Tropicorp Cup :
A trainee at Endur Rotropii’s Rebel Academy in the Old Tivali Jungle, Touiniki was unexpectedly drafted into the Vilitan National Team squad for the final match of World Cup 91 Qualification, after the Jungle Rebels were confirmed as Group 13 Runners-Up with no possibility for their placement to be affected by the result of their game against the Autonomous Vessel Nation. Despite being just 16 years of age, Touiniki had a mistake free performance keeping a clean sheet on their National Team Debut in the 1-0 victory over the Aut-Ves-Nat. Member of the Gold Medal Winning Vilitan Union XVI Olympic Side and the 26th Tropicorp Lower League Cup.

At age 18 Sebapilo would make their internationstatal debut for the Vilita & Turori regional side in the 63rd AOCAF competition in the knockout round defeat to Valanora. Sebapilo would soon collect another first in Valanora starting all seven matches of Vilita & Turori’s 50th Di Bradini Cup campaign, earning their first internationstatal hardware and earning regard as one of the top players of the tournament. After suffering relegation with the Makos following Vilitan League 65, Sebapilo was recruited by IFCF contenders Mliona-Lpaka AFC of Turori.

Trezisi Rokopolis [ - Yeaddin Owls - ]

TROPHIES :: [ : Di Bradini Cup 50 : Olympic Gold Medal : ]
Trezisi Rokopolis was one of the youngest players in Vilitan Stellar Division history to play a full season for their club as a member of FC Almintora’s ill-fated side that won just two games during Season 63. After Almintora’s relegation to the Declasse, Rokopolis jumped ship to return to Vilita and join forces with Jlinal Cove FC, the side that had pipped FC Almintora to avoid relegation. With Jlinal Cove, Rokopolis helped lead the team to the Vilitan Cup Semi-Finals and scored their first career Stellar Division goal against the Kionao Locals. Rokopolis would get the call to the Vilitan National Team during the World Cup 87 Qualification Campaign and would make their debut against Tequilo. Rokopolis scored their first career goal for the National Team in just their second career appearance, netting the fifth goal in a 5-2 rout of Widaya. Earned first international silverware as a member of the Vilita and Turori Under-21 Squad that would win the 50th Di Bradini Cup Title. Despite being part of the Vilitan team that was largely purged following the disasterous World Cup 90 campaign, Rokopolis survived the purge making a switch to the Yeaddin Owls and retaining a spot as a now veteran player on Endur Rotriopii’s Vilita Jungle Rebels for World Cup 91.

Sami Samii’i was brought up through the system at Mar Sara FC in Valanora but saw heavy competition for playing time on the left side of midfield. Eventually Mar Sara would loan out the left winger to Olympia Arkintoofle in the Squornshelan Remnant States with the hopes of seeing the youngster gain playing experience and potentially learn to play other positions on the field. Samii’i would make their debut for Vilita and Turori in the 51st Di Bradini Cup appearing twice for the squad. When the Vilita & Turori Under-21 Squad was eliminated by Adab in the Round of 16, it meant that Samii’i, who was not part of Vilita and Turori’s 50th Di Bradini Cup winning squad nor either of the XIV or XV Olympic Gold Medal squads, would be one of the only players of their generation without a major international youth competition medal. During World Cup 89 Qualifying, Samii’i famously missed a penalty kick against Squidroidia in the Playoff match against Squidroidia drawing the ire of the Vilitan Supporters.

After the success of the Cocoabo Squad during World Cup 79 however, the highly touted prospect acceped an invitation to be apart of Vilita's World Cup 80 Qualifying playing pool. The decision would prove to be a good one as Katarakhna was part of Vilita’s World Cup 81 and World Cup 82 championship squads including their first career World Cup Finals goal during the World Cup 82 Quarter Final against Apox. On the domestic side, Katarakhna was a critical member of the squad that elevated Eastal Lunar to complete domestic trifecta over the course of 3 seasons winning the Vilitan Cup during Season 59, the Tropical Trophy for Season 60 and the teams first ever Stellar Division Title during Vilitan League Season 61.

:: OTHER CONSIDERATIONS ::

Most Likely to Take a Throw In: Vilita will avoid earning a throw in at all costs. Throwing is not a trained skill in Vilita. If a throw in is required, the goal is to get it to the closest player who can then use their feet.

Most Likely to Take a Free Kick: One of the Midfielders

Most Likely to Take a Penalty Kick: From open play, Vilita National Team Policy is that the player who was fouled to earn a Penalty Kick is the player who will take the Penalty Kick. In the event the player is injured then the captain may designate a player to take the kick in their place.
