Princess Stella Anna Dallas in front of a sign saying Togonistan ...

Hello this is Princess Stella Anna Dallas for Naked News Jeruselem. As I'm actually wearing clothes, you know I'm overseas. I'm in Togonistan, this is my first overseas posting in this World Cup 92! So Togonistan is my first official overseas posting for this cup. I'm not sure that's a good thing for Togonistan, but that's the way it is. Just for those who worry, I have been overseas before. But just never been to Togonistan. But I'm just happy to be here.

It's qualification match day 2 now. As usual, I have a recap the previous day. Of course, qualification match day 1 was held in Jeruselem! I must say, I was pretty nervious being my first official day on the job at home but there wasn't a problem as I was properly trained by my Mum.

Match day 1 had Ochre Islands with the bye. Civia Welephilostopia went down at home 3-2 to Zwangzug. República Guanacasteca won at home 1-0 against Hopal. Delaclava had a home win 2-1 against Delaclava. Flavovespia brushed aside visiting Efnakia 3-0 at home. And Jeruselem had a home win 2-0 against Britland who start with a loss.

Match day 2, Efnakia has the bye. But they are still zero point.

Britland had their first home game but unfortunately the visitors were Flavovespia who soundly spanked them 4-1. Not entirely unexpected result anyway. This means Flavovespia have maximum points so far.

Hopal first home game was just as successful, they faced Delaclava who destroyed them 5-1. Not the best way to go the first home game but your opponent was always better. It's Delaclava who are not a team to dismiss.

Zwangzug or "The Zug" as Mum calls them, had their first home win beating República Guanacasteca 1-0. This also means they still have maximum points like Flavovespia and Delaclava.

Well that leaves us here with Jeruselem vs the local Togonistan team ... Togonistans? I dunno. Well we didn't lose. Yes well at 1-0 win isn't exactly something to get excited about but it's a win nevertheless. We didn't play any friendlies beforehand especially with half the team from last cup getting changed out. It's like a new team.

So Group 6 has Flavovespia, Delaclava, Jeruselem and "The Zug" on two wins or 6 points. Ochre Islands has 3 points but they had a bye first round. República Guanacasteca also has 3 points. Togonistan, Efnakia, Efnakia, Britland, Civia Welephilostopia and Hopal are still on zero points but we've only had two rounds played so there's plenty of time to get off zero points.

Just an interesting comment from someone, the manager of ZwangZug has the same first name as our own Kate. Kate DiMarini, who actually isn't from ZwangZug ... she's from Baker Park. Kate or Katherine is a common name really, I mean my mother has the same name. It's Kate vs Kate on match day 4.

Thanks for all the support everyone. Of course I get the usual cyberabuse from the usual sources but hey being a Princess, I'm used to it. Of course, if you get a little too carried away with that people with guns could visit you in Jeruselem because we can do that. It's technically illegal to threaten members of the royal family.

Just for those who are a little slow ... I'm the daughter of Princess Kate, not Kate Dallas the current manager. She doesn't have daughters. For some reason some people think that. Most overseas people understand but there's always the few idiots who get confused their two brains cells aren't working.

Yeah, that's it from me in Togonistan! I'm off to some shopping before we have to leave because ... you know schedules. See you later back home.

"Well, if that doesn't show Reval... I dunno what will."

"Do you really think so?" Alice Carroll asked her coach, not knowing how he thinks her opinion could be swayed. "She doesn't seem to willing to budge..."

"Alice... you realized you just scored a hat trick at home in front of a full stadium of fans? The highest score this team has ever gotten, no help from that prime minister and her budget cuts. This team may not have the money, we may not have official support, but this is the best team we've ever fielded, by a country mile."

"No."
"What??"

Yeah, it could be said that Coach Morgan's trip to the prime minister's executive office (aka the king's old office with a piece of tape reading "Prime Minister Fiona Reval" over his name) didn't quite go how he planned.

"Look, Mr. Morgan, you've asked me this before and I'm not going to change my answer just because, what, two weeks' time has passed? No means no!"
"Did you see the match? Did you see the crowds?"
"No, I don't care for sports, I thought you would've figured that part out by now."

"Well, look at the headlines! 'Owls Win Record-Breaking Match, Fans Overjoyed' from the Eshialand City Journal, 'Bright Futures Ahead for the Team that Shouldn't Have Played' from Sports Multiversal. This team is loved so much by so many... just ask anyone!"

"Again... do I care? Mr. Morgan, what you seem to be failing to understand is that different leaders have different policies. The king loved this team, yes. But it's time to move on from his childish obsessions and get down to actual business. Funding things that actually matter instead of hopeless fantasies. Get your head out of the clouds that the king chased all those years, and start thinking of tackling the nation's big problems."

"You do realize that--"
"Morgan, stop it. Please. I'm tired of this. You clearly seem to be able to support this team on your own, so keep doing that."

...however, the fact of the matter was that he couldn't keep supporting the team on his own. Luckily, as the head of what was left of the Eshian Soccer Federation, he was paid some of the money from the home ticket sales, but most of that money was going to, ironically enough, the government. They wouldn't support sports programs, but they sure were happy to keep pocketing the money from them. If the team was to keep going, Coach Morgan would need to find a way to restore government funding, and with Reval clearly not budging, it seemed like restoring the funding would require him to do the impossible.

He'd have to find the king.

*Most goals ever recorded for the Owls, tied for highest margin of victory as well.

Nephara 2 - 0 Tjorl
(4-4-2) 1 - Provost; 17 - Meadows (2 - Schrader 65'), 5 - Clevinger, 6 - Scales, 3 - Lind; 7 - Anharbour (13 - Brewer 76'), 4 - Southsea (19 - Belltower 82'), 15 - Sauber, 26 - Kvasina; 21 - Vetiver (24 - Reisinger 76'), 10 - Harper
Goals: Kvasina 16', Vetiver 38'

The first match of the qualifying cycle had a routine feel to it.
That was the last thing anyone expected, really. Pessimists expected a hiccup, or another poor omen after the difficult draw. Optimists expected a 5- or 6-0 win. Realistically, though? Tjorl were a strong side in the process of becoming an excellent side, one who would surely be at the World Cup sooner rather than later, and they had taken a point off Nephara two years ago. But they had also lost the home leg 4-0.
Igrene Cantor had studied the tapes. Of course she had. She'd studied all the tapes, Twii clips, vines, whatever she could get her hand on to get a handle on both her opponents and her new charges. It was clear from the start, though, that Tjorl's defence and discipline had improved. They had a good shape, passed the ball with confidence, and the first shot on target of the game was theirs, Hans Beringer finding an inch inside Radeka Lind and sending a low shot rasping on goal. An easy save for Provost to make, but the point was made. This would be no walkover.

Cantor had sent out an interesting mix of personnel, in the same 4-4-2 that Koeller had tried in the Copa Rushmori. The big difference was the midfield, and specifically the presence of the slightly-used Tasha Sauber. Sauber had been a notorious cautionary tale in Nephara, making an early breakthrough, thrust into national team spotlight but never finding her feet, and being a key scapegoat for Athletic's awful season a couple years ago. People who were in favour of Felixe Vetiver being integrated slower cited her a lot. Then she headed to Eura. Maybe things would change for her?
Still, while the Goldleague was the most popular foreign league in Nephara, not all football fans watched foreign leagues. And everyone watched the Cormorants, not just football fans. And everyone who watched the Cormorants was an expert on the subject, as with all national teams everywhere.
So for casual fans, the narratives were confusing. Many great young players. Brilliant manager, best in the world. Who chooses to bring back an abysmal paper tiger. Eh?

But Cantor knew what she was doing.
Cassander Southsea wasn't a proper destroyer, nor was he the fastest. He was tall and confident and commanding, but he did his best work at a walking pace, the kind of player who might well only peak at 31 or 32. But you need pace somewhere in midfield. For Brinemouth, Kazuo Martin nipped in behind Southsea; for Nephara, Cantor reasoned, why couldn't Sauber - a vicious terrier of a player, when in form and confidence - play ahead of Southsea? And if Kvasina's tracking back and industry were problems, which they were, at the international level of the game, but she was quick and had a brilliant left foot... why not put her on the left, with arguably the best defensive fullback in the game covering her back?
It all came together, clicking neatly into place and seeming obvious, once it had happened. It took fifteen minutes to register Nephara's first shot on target, true, but it was a masterful team goal, precisely how it ought to be. Lind got the better of Beringer this time, and passed along to Southsea, who stroked a long ball down the right. Anharbour sprinted out past Schaerer and Steinssen, then cut back to Vetiver... who easily flicked the ball back to Lindse Kvasina, whose inside run slipped Giehl. She took one touch to control the ball and lashed it low beyond the badly exposed Lewisohn, and Sauber's masterfully weighted through-ball gave Vetiver the killing blow late in the first half.
They came close a few times in the second half, but ultimately they were content to dominate the ball and the play, not risking too much, unwilling to let Nikolaj Eriksen's pace wreak havoc behind their sluggish centre-halves, into the areas where their veteran goalkeeper could no longer sweep. Viktor Mandel was a canny manager, he knew the weakness. But their midfielders were swarmed too quickly and efficiently to get the passes off.
It was Cantor's first game, and already it seemed the Cormorants were playing with the chemistry of a club side. The hype train was officially up and running.

NYK players, before they enter the Orthodox monks portal to the Dreamed Realm, to take on The Holy Empire

"Man." Said NYK striker, Odede Angonga. "That was pretty damn tiring."

"Yeah, you bet your ass it was." Said the goalkeeper, Oduor Bigombe. "They beat us in the actual World Cup- of course they were going to come out like gangbusters for the re-match." Nyowani Kitara now largely had the talent to keep up with pretty much any given team on most days. They weren't a top 10 squad or anything like that, a team just immune from a complete and total collapse. But the first 45 minutes of football in this match, well... Probably was some of the worst football that the team had ever played. And Saint Eleanor, who had delivered NYK our first ever World Cup Finals L, was running fully rampant, willing and ready to punish the New Kitarans for every single mistake.

The first goal wasn't the result of any sort of mistake or defensive lapse or something. Simply put- some nifty offense, and some direct play, and some great individual skill from Saint Eleanor's players. A great through ball, combined with simply an opposing player defeating a NYK on a one on one dribble, and then some excellent finishing, burying the ball into the corner of the net for a wonder-strike. Upper 90, just 7 minutes into the contest, it was 1-0 to the visitors. Nothing was over, however, especially considering the offensive skill of both teams.

But we would press probably a bit too hard, trying to impress the home fans in this newest era of Nyowani Kitara football- one, for the first time, with expectations. A sloppy pass out of the back from Catarina Malmquist was intercepted, and just a few passes later with some excellent one touch football from Saint Eleanor, the game was suddenly 2-0. After Nyowani Kitara over committed on a corner kick in the 27th minute, a brilliant, full length of the field counter-attack saw the visitors go up 3-0. And the final goal for the visitors? Just before halftime, a decent effort from distance- but an absolute howler between the sticks, as Oduor Bigombe simply dropped what should've been an easy save, as the ball rolled past him and into the back of the net.

Nyowani Kitara only ended up losing by a lone goal, but truly- the scoreline flattered them. IT was all Saint Eleanor in the first half, and Nyowani Kitara didn't really have much of a chance. The hosts had scored their first goal in the 65th minute, and then had scored twice within stoppage time(which had been a total of 6 minutes because Bigombe had suffered a hamstring injury). A 90+2' goal to make the lead 4-2, and then, on basically the final kick of the match, a 90+8' goal to make the score 4-3. The whistle was blown basically immediately after that, as the scoreline flattered the Kitarans- but, more importantly, did help their goal differential, even if the three points were deservingly awarded to Saint Eleanor.

"Well." Said Liang Wei, the squad's manager. "We've got to go play The Holy Empire. The most interesting team to play in all of World Cup Qualifying. They're the- they're the... Uhh...."

"Hamsters!" Said Olaf Svante excitedly. "Did you guys know that I actually own a hamster farm, back home? Quite wild- I'm the biggest hamster owner in all of Nyowani Kitara, actually. Got 672 of 'em on our property. That's a rolling count, at least. Gotta keep the eagles away..."

"OK, ok." Said the manager, Liang Wei. "You probably shouldn't broadcast that out loud in the Dreamed Realm. What are they gonna say if their players find out you own huge amounts of their species?"

"Well, I just wanna pet one." Olaf Svante said.

"YOU MAY NOT PET OUR OPPONENTS." Liang Wei said, pretty loudly. "They're the fucking Holy Empire for sake- even if they are neither holy nor an empire(although they might be both Holy AND an Empire, I don't do politics), this team just went to the World Cup Final for three damn tournaments in a row, and are ranked #2 in the world. I don't give a damn that they're hamsters- they're THE favorites to win another world title, and we need something to get this campaign back on track.

"Well, I'd probably invite one of them to see my hamster farm back home, when they get back to Nyowani Kitara." Olaf said. "Maybe they'd want to see it..."

Liang Wei simply muttered to himself, wondering exactly how Olaf Svante would offend all of their opponents at once. He decided to tell another player to watch over Svante, and ensure that he doesn't talk to any of his opponents...

Note: This government owned media source is the most biased media sources in the entire country, so read this media source, especially the other news section, with a critical eye. Foreign media observers would call it a KPWC propaganda outlet, a charge that they would most certainly deny. They routinely charge the Free Press with straight up fabrications, something the newspaper rigorously denies.

With President Akongo's electoral loss, their response has been to be more fanatically in support of the now former President. However, while more fanatical in the news section, they have integrated slightly less politics into their general sports coverage.

The Kitara People's Free Press
The voice for the working people of Nyowani Kitara

SPORTS- National team stuns the world by destroying The Holy Empire in the Dreamed Realm by a score of 6-2

THE DREAMED REALM- Yes, you are reading that right. The Score actually does say- The Holy Empire 2-6 Nyowani Kitara. I was at the freaking game, reporting for the greatest news source in the history of Rushmore, and I didn't believe it. After our first half against Saint Eleanor to start World Cup Qualifying, legitimately, I thought that this team maybe would be completely screwed. No way we'd go on the road to the Dreamed Realm and pick up even a lone point, let alone 3? We'd start Qualifying in this huge hole- not the worst hole ever, considering we played the top two teams in the group to start this thing, but a huge hole.

But the impossible happened as we got here. We... Actually got off to a decent start? Odede Angonga knocking home a diving header in the 12th minute opened the scoring, and stunned the crowd of hamsters & monks. But then, The Holy Empire really started going to work. They showed the world why they were considered elite, as they played 20 minutes of simply dazzling football. Perfect passes, perfectly lofted, perfect placed, great runs- just some fantastic last ditch defending that prevented Nyowani Kitara from squandering their lead.

But in the 32nd minute, a foul in the box- a penalty had to be granted. And Gerald, the captain- took the penalty. He can seen extra well, of course, due to his monocle- and Gerald, who was simultaneously the most sophiscated soccer player, and hamster, of all time, celebrated by pounding his chest, as he drew the game level. Just 4 minutes later, a sliding finish by Pebbles on the back post gave the hosts a 2-1 lead. Angonga would score his second just before halftime, however, to make it 2-2.

It was the next 25 minutes that, just like a few days ago against Saint Eleanor, was one of the most shocking moments in NYK football history. But this time? In a good way. As they pressed for a goal, we settled in to punish them on the counter- and punish them, we did. Less than a half an hour of exquisite passing, getting forward in droves with pace & purpose, and even better finishing, we put four behind them before it hit the 70th minute. Owino Odede, Angonga, Wang Jiahui, and even Jozef Sparv, off the bench, all got in on the fun. That was the final score, as the final 20 minutes were just a pretty shell shocked squad of hamsters, and the NYKers, just passing it around themselves.

"I'll admit- I didn't expect it." Said Liang Wei, NYK's manager. "But hell- three points against The Holy Empire, here? Of course I'm ecstatic. There's not a single person in the outside world who thought that we coudl get even a lone point out here, let alone all three- especially after our first half against Saint Eleanor. But it just shows how much this team believes in its mission. We all united around what we were doing, recovered, and obviously, responded in emphatic fashion. While it is a huge win, as everybody knows, big wins mean nothing unless you can build on them. So onto the next."

NYK's next matchday is a bye, but following that, 119th ranked Quakmybush will come to Mubeza, for our second home qualifier of the campaign.

Delte 5-3 Commonwealth of Baker Park
Sports Correspondent Polka Lunn At Ildemorton Road for the Oswark Parish Advertiser

I won't dwell overly long on the finer details of this match, but certainly mention should be made of the fact that Irki Mynster's astonishing four goal haul in the first half at a wet and windy Ildemorton Road undoubtedly shocked everyone in the ground, not least the Bakerite dugout. It seemed everything he touched turned to goal. Particularly pleasing for this correspondent is the fact that The Representatives become the first team to reach ten goals in this month's competition, a point I will undoubtedly labour excessively throughout the tournament. Whatever happens in the Failure to Qualify Cup '92, they can't take this away from us.

At the same, or maybe a few minutes before...

Damukuni 2-5 Delte
Catapult Operator & Temporary Player-Reporter Mashe Ackleyear in Atarashii-Damushuto for Up The Reps Football Fanzine

I've been briefed not to dwell overly long on the finer details of our match here in the Esportiva region (what an odd place by the way) but suffice it to say The Away Team Mission has got off to a good start, which I largely watched from the subs bench. Ight Mordaforth the optometrist was brilliant in the midfield, with an eye for the right pass and great vision to control the flow of the game. I think we'll see a sight more from him after turning in a solid watch with plenty of focus, tearing up and down the pitch, not to mention his sometimes eye-watering tackles.

I hear the home team did alright too.

The Quick & The Delts
2/6 : But We Only Just Crowned Græntfjall

21 June 2022: Returning from the Cup of Harmony tournament, leftback Eremo Olde went to his desk in the planning office and after nailing up some mementos he attended to his first job of the day - which was also coincidentally his last action connected to the World Cup ’91 cycle that had kept him so busy zipping around the world collecting memorabilia: it was time in his official capacity as planning officer for the valley to remind the Delte FA they had thirty days to begin deconstruction of the temporary terraces at Ildemorton Road, where his team had played their home matches in attempting to win the World Cup. Capacity was to be brought back to its original 200, down from the 1,200 that the scaffold stands had afforded. As he scanned the paperwork, his internal phone buzzed. It was the Big Chief of Everything, Tessa Sack. What could she want, she never called his office directly?

“You’d better hold off on that deconstruction order,” she said, coming straight to the point, “we have had some rather extraordinary news…”

“But we only just crowned Græntfjall,” exclaimed Eremo, when Tessa told him that there was a rumour the next World Cup could start in September: September ’22, that is, and not 2026 as everyone expected. After all, most of the available literature coming from the NSWC’s WCC/EWCC HQ PR Dept, located somewhere in Ko-oren, said there were either two or four years between cups depending on your interpretation of cycles in UICA-IFCF CL, CC, RSC & CWC competitions, located somewhere in Eura. Or was it the Vilita-based AOCAF-IAC-CR-CE-OAOCAFA cycle?

“But… Græntfjall?” said Eremo, trailing off. He wasn’t sure what alphabet soup had to do with anything.

“The point is,” said Tessa, with a very un-Stoic-like impatience in her telephone voice, “we are fairly sure the World Cup happens every two to four months, not every two to four years as we had first expected. You had better leave those temporary stands up, and start thinking about plans for a permanent structure. Ildemorton Road is going to get very busy.”

“Can’t we, you know, just enter once every four years?”

“Like Bears Armed, you mean? We could, but have you seen the money we make on participation? That leathery old motorcycle ko-ourier from Taxhavn, Herr Blattini, literally turns up on our doorstep every three months with a brown envelope the size of a shipping container, full of mixed-currency notes from The Committee, no questions asked. It’s great for the economy. Besides, they’d never hold the ranking points open for that long. We’d be back to square one.”

Though more pressing matters in the political world, Kwandoa, and the outer multiverse there may be, we find no fault with discussing the things that have common laymen take out some time from their real life and pursue interests (whether pressing or preliminary), as well as this, there isn't any fault to be found with the articles and documents that dispute action plans of the folks who are just getting into spending some solid time away from the obligations of their business, but we do say that action plans shouldn't define their lives so as to make down-time practically non-existent. Nevertheless, Rōczwijyrcqa has her ways of putting the slightly patriotic citizen, who spends the time that they can get browsing through cable television, into a state of full-blown rupture with their watching the nation's dedicated sports sectors while this is true for others who revel in drama too. At least, it's a true sentiment for that one time in history where through all the years of Tethriseptuagintitercubor's career he had out of the pitch drama with his wife, and when it got bad, let us tell you, it was really bad. You know, they had a huge falling out that people still call "the falling out of falling outs" and that historians use today as an example of the way guys treated women back in the 6000s, mind you, this was still in the banter days of our existence where we were getting pummeled by a nation that was super-enthusiastic about the World Cup proper, even having a huge pow-wow when after having won that competition, the nation just disbanded. By the way, when it comes to that last point we made about drama in sports, that "Geektivities" newspaper and online blog which is the mouthpiece of very many unwise people didn't need to do all of these things to us which were economically damaging. First, they've cornered all the profits that could've been made as far as writing stories about sportspersons who have faced adversity are concerned. Now, before this, we imagine that the pot hadn't yet boiled over when they failed to mention us with all of the other papers that made up a myriad of other acknowledgements when it came to how these papers reacted to the Baker Park win. Now, we don't want to make this a rant piece, so we'll leave our righteous hostility at this paragraph.

You surely recall the devastating defeats Equestria waged over some worrisome times in the football history of Rōczwijyrcqa, while when we first fielded Banija, or when they first fielded us, it looked worrisome but from that point on the players had speared forth this unparalleled confidence in everything they did which bought a modicum of time and good fortune until they sort of combined together to make a "special force" unsuccessfully for the first time since the victory of Recuecn a few back. It looked like everything had clicked when Dingledine uncovered the new and prolific ideas of a system which would have Rōczwijyrcqa bask in the sunlight for a cycle of football more glorious then the old ages of Loui and Osorto, whilst Aimena (we're not calling that nation their native name) wallowed in filth yet again with their fifth attempt of a unifying football body having not held up. By this time, these failed blockbuster attempts of making something as easy as this had really depreciated the economy of the city in which they headquartered, Prydea. In the context of the petitions that were repeatedly and unfruitfully made by the association trying to make a footballing body, perhaps it wasn't a failure so much as this became an acceptance by both parties that the war on stadium erection taxes alone couldn't happen under their separate jurisdictions when Rōczwijyrcqa came after them for planning permits on an unreasonable scale so close to every territory within the regional executive organ itself without maybe seeking any expert advice prior to erecting massive clumsily cutting modern monuments to ancient Diarcesolatinic vase painting artwork and sculpted goddesses of "manly skills", and thus, Rōczwijyrcqa absolutely unleashed what the press appropriately called the "football fistfight", revealing upon these bickering parties an insult, over exposure of resources intended solely to cause damage to life and limb. In general, this was a separate project from the ones which we mentioned before but was strictly related to how the exterior of the stadium in which they played their international games was to look, and this also had a catastrophic effect on the balance sheets of many individuals in the city given the ebb-and-flow nature of economics.

By Aimenan reckoning, this is certainly recent history because the design of those stadiums barely seemed worthy enough to seat twenty thousand watchers out of two hundred thousand seats built. The large historical chancel of Keryowa besides Prydean Fortress complained about noise levels on the part of "a construction worker too many" and this got the unnamed group in legal trouble, while citizens who sat in and watched a television broadcast for it's grand opening noticed dozens of thousands of rotting paint flecks that were coming off of most seats; it was a beautiful disaster. As often happens in any undertaking, one mishap swiftly led to another such moment of reckoning, and the traveling group of businessmen declared their company's bankruptcy and ran out of the country swiftly after the fact of doing it. Now, this bankruptcy with accounting fraud can cost any person a few solid years in jail, as according to continental law which held that every country should and would go forth handing out prescribed sentences for nearly every crime one could commit. And so the marauding businessmen ran away from their troubles and are still yet to be found even in the present times.

It's said that they did this through incredible means, and when we're talking about incredible means, we know that for most, the relatively new to history Chohn-Singh Abirabishnu pirates come to mind. Now, after the eighty-seventh cup had finished, everyone in the institution laid back and didn't prevent atrophy while stating that these successes would sure come easily to us for the rest of time now that they finally had, and this notion was even more amplified when the current president under the name of Schmedding deposed the old one which had came in around 5715, or just when the eighty fourth World Cup was starting to roll around. The importance of a stable 3-4-3 was starting to wane in most minds, along with it's equally important counterpart of an Attacking Pass Formation, where everyone passed to another as much as they could and the concept of give and go plays were virtually not thought of until the first goal had been scored. This president who reigned control of what players and managers were staying in the system and who would come into it had his own ideas about dealing with adversity in the team, while Dingledine was highly suggestible to any criticisms thrown his way where virtually none had come under most of his time with the Rōczwijyrcqolo national squad, and once he heard criticisms about everything but what he dug up, Dingledine started implementing early subs and all manner of things which decreased the efficiency of the earlier principles that stars like Germaine Sophie played best under. At this period, the national team starts to hit a roadblock in all manner of ways, though it can be said that we had another exceptional Cup of Harmony after not qualifying for the 89th World Cup where we walked the group stages which featured notable bastions of history like Oberour ar Moro (Rōczwijyrcqa put them to bed in both legs of the 86th World Cup Qualifying) before getting put to bed ourselves by Trolleborg, who had extended our negative record against them in the recent Independent Associations Championship semi-finals, then went on to lose against HUElavia at the final of the very same tournament while having the immensely respectable goal to hold the trifecta of Baptism of Fire, Cup of Harmony, and regional trophies.

After the hugely unceremonious dumping of our nation from contention for the eighty eighth World Cup, Dingledine was let down gently for the musclehead with no managerial experience but a lot of people experience with the name of Hojnacki. Much of his reign didn't hold a lot of the drama and baggage of the latter half of Dingledine's, but the battles between him and the press after such devastating results to Natanians and Nosts, Qasden, Freeport, and Britonisea especially were like the ugliest guerilla warfare clash you could imagine - he more or less did whatever he could to prevent answering anything the journalists wanted to know to improve the fortunes of their respective companies and technically stymied Rōczwijyrcqolo economy with the sheer loss of attention from television viewers, because if you're watching an interview, you'd naturally expect the other party being asked a question to respond in some way or another. A little thing about his brother that made him ultimately employable to take on the job of an exercise trainer was that Malede marked his place down in Rōczwijyrcqa history by being the first nationalist reformer to actually play a part in shaping society. Both the royal and nationalist parties saw him in a positive light due to his sincere efforts to, in his words, "strengthen and enhance the bonds that link together any thriving culture" at a time of terrible tragedy and disenfranchisement. So you had this managerial stint where Hojnacki didn't change anything but the effectiveness of the job that was supposed to be done. For example, it was the same old ball and chain with how he issued tactical instructions for the compact 3-4-3 and attacking pass formations, but he had intensified pre-game fitness sessions, leading to more substitutions on the day of international games that occurred less than ten minutes on. Truly an ugly sight, and his saying that it was an inspiration taken from Dingledine was also delusional, because one of the worst things we can remember about the weakness of his game was that of the early and numerous substitutions that frequently paused proceedings in the match, frustrating everyone.

The folks who do want Hojnacki out of this job no matter what it will sacrifice start to gain some momentum, despite the chaotic goings on in Schmedding's life by the time of the closing stages of World Cup 91 as these rebel rousers set their sights on his personal estate. Schmedding didn't want this and hadn't thought about the possibility of his getting deposed as president ahead of current and commercial interests threatened by a rebel march on 855 Roseberry Lane in Lito where it was around this time that his family started to take sides, and they sided with the protesters in an effort to excessively flatter them, so as to say, "It's a better decision to keep propping these guys up than risk losing the house Schmedding purchased for all of us to live in and fall apart in the face of these rebels and their crazy leader who was an Omicronopolist." What we have here is best known as a case where he escaped by the skin of his teeth, and only thanks to his family's digging their heels in hard as far as honoring his name goes. If they hadn't thought of something as the seething public was bashing on their doors in a crazed and infrequent manner, Schmedding may not have lived to see the rest of his days and that's the grimy truth. What we have seen in this happening's past is a shiny-looking new era under the rotation of several visiting managers, and what was really surprising about this was how new faces such as Jayleanna Lnepzsloal took really well to this and was really well-informed as far as the history of our football goes, completely understanding why Schmedding should have and did make this decision.

And with preparation, the institution went through a rough and complicated patch with a sports scientist while after this they recommended four managers whose tenures would end every two games and these tenures would then be judged by the time the Independent Associations Championship was wrapped up. Somehow, we did really well to lose to Trolleborg and then Drawkland in the third place play-off decider, but the best manager was identified to be our former star who headlined in the finals of the eighty seventh cycle, Julio. Despite being appointed relatively early, it was said after the Championships that he had served as a catalyst for our momentum going forward and even equipped everyone with new fancy, mechanistic-looking sneakers, and since then we think a switch went off in most everyone because headers won were much higher than they had been in the previous two cycles, as well as statistics like ball retained/kept under pressure. So after all this is said and done, Rōczwijyrcqa are heading into a pretty tough qualifying group with Banija and Krytenia with their main man Julio, and he has found his footing again with these two.. aggressive victories. It's a landmark in that Rōczwijyrcqa have only been first after two games on only two occasions, this one and that other time in the qualifiers of Cycle 88 that most decent people don't and shouldn't like to inquire about.

I promise, match layouts will come soon, and thanks to everyone for any continued support I may have been given!

Disappointing 3-2 Loss By Our Heroes In Green

Postby Civia Welephilostopia » Sat Oct 01, 2022 4:35 am

It was a hear thumping game tonight as our boys in green faced off against Zwangzug, if was unfortunate to see our team lose our half-time lead and at the end there were many tears in fans eyes as we were handed on our first game our first defeat. Here are the highlights of the game from the Welephilostopian side:

Coin-Flip:
Welephilostopian Captain Solomon won the coin toss and chose to play offensively for the first half and kickoff.

5' Ahmed concedes free kick to Haugan with Haugan almost putting into the back of the net but is saved by Solomon.

11' Joseph takes the corner and Luca headers it in a shot attempt but it is saved by Zwangzug keeper Pimbura.

34' Jervis receives a Yellow card after a dangerous tackle on Dulk-Fough and Dulk-fough is sent off under medical advice. Dulk-Fough is replaced by Waugh.

40' After a fantastic passing game down the left wing the ball is given to Ben and after skilling Tery-Wilf is one on one with the keeper.

41' Ben takes his shot and he SCORES!!!, a beautiful shot into the bottom left corner sends the Welephilostopian fans into a joyous frenzy. the score is WEL 1 - ZWA 0.

45' Half Time.

Half Time Commentary:
This half has been incredible so far from the Emerald Elephants, we have seen fantastic halves so far for Fraser, Ben and Luca while Zwangzug players Imomemba, Waugh, and after the all clear has been given Dulk-Fough will start next half.

Half-Time Kickoff:

46' Dulk-Fough inside the box about to shoot but cut off by Fraser and the ball goes out for a corner.

47' The ball is kicked in but the ball is caught just barely by Solomon.

56' Dulk-Fough with another attack inside the box, he fake passes then faints but instead of taking the shot he fakes and gives the ball to Haugen which lures Solomon out of the box and with that Haugen shoots and Scores, the disappointment is visible on Welephilostopian fans faces while Zebra fans erupt in cheering.

66' Ben receives the ball from a long ball by Fredrick and is inside the box, he is once again one on one with the keeper but in a creative move that leaves the crowd stunned, he fakes twice then chips the keeper, the keeper rushes back and dives over to save the ball from rolling over the line Luca taps the ball in resulting in another goal for the Elephants.

WEL 2 - ZWA 1:
A change of tactics is seen by Zwangzug as they play a more offensive style to break the Welephilostopian defence.

71' Waugh receives a free kick and proceeds to kick the ball within the outer box and after a hefty challenge put up by Ahmed Dulk-Fough receives the ball and with class and focus pockets the ball into the top right corner.

WEL 2- ZWA 2:
We see a desperate shift as well from the Elephants as they try their hardest to maintain the draw by instituting more defensive tactics.

82' Shot by Dulk-Fough is deflected by Kryan.

84' After a battle of physicality Ahmed emerges with the ball and clears it to Jervis however the ball is instead won by Nguyen.

86' Cross by Nguyen into the box Solomon battles to get the ball but Waugh is in front and receives it passing it through to Haugen.

87' Haugen puts in a brilliant shot into the top left corner and that is all but the end for the elephants.

WEL 2 - ZWA 3:
The Welephants put on a real display today showing other teams who would overlook them that they are in fact as strong as any other. However, they still lack defensive refinement.

Full Time:
The looks of relief on the faces of Zebra fans while Elephant fans solemnly begin to walk out the stadium. These 2 sides may never face again but one can definitely say that for all the Welephilostopian fans that history has been made.

Sharktail Post EP65

Kota Lama: 2 games were played by Sharktail in the WCQ 92 campaign seeing the team collect 1 win and 1 loss. The start that Sharktail had expected.

Looking from a specific point of view, Sharktail from the beginning was indeed expected to lose against Brenecia, but the results obtained by Sharktail can be said to be quite surprising. The final result of 2-1 was an unexpected result, considering that Sharktail usually falls with more goal difference.

Despite the praise given to Sharktail who was able to compete with Brenecia, Azaim's answer was different.

"It not a pleasant performanace. We park the bus. We scored a goal in first 10 minutes, and later I would like to suggest adding a bed or sofa for Brenecia defense. No attack at all in second half. Even Ilias and Win are playing more down than their own position. Asking me to rate my own performance, it's bad. I mess with a lot of passes. No excuse there. I will hit the ground and practice more and prepare for next."

In the meantime, Yunos stated that the result of this match is an important point in his planning and estimating the extent to which this team is able to compete.

"I want to make sure that the tactics applied are understood by everyone. We will have a showdown against several teams that have experience in the WC Final. This is important data. World Cup Final? We will make it. I will gamble everything for that."

As serious as it sounds, what fans can expect is the best performance and magic for the Sharktail team. 95X and Adaikes are waiting, 6 point Sharktail target. Let's move on.

OOC Notes:
1) WCQ92, in our timeline, is held at the end of the 2112/start of 2113, and given that I tend to follow the timeline quite strictly for football competitions, my main sport, I have decided to push the 2112 Election storyline backwards for the later RPs, until I am done with the planned front ones in NSCF.
2) The first article below is taken from Hot Takes, a weekly column, with article contributions from reporters and editors from Sporting Daily. This column is intended to be a less serious in nature, and should not be taken as an actual reflection of things in Poafmersia.

Sporting Daily

Hot Takes: If Poafmersia presents an evil bid at every international competition we participates in, they will all be unique.

We all know many out there in the multiverse has a very strong opinion on the Casaran, which we generally refer to as the Swiss matchup system here in Poafmersia. For those that are unaware, the Casaran is a format, where all the teams are placed in a single pot, and play against opponents based on their record in the tournament, prior to every match. In this format, matches are determined at the end of the previous matchday, and there is no sense of seeding whatsoever, as teams are matched with other teams with a similar record in the tournament. This generally works in competitions such as chess and contract bridge, but in other competitions such as football, the crowd is split on whether Casaran is a good system.

6 years ago, a Poafmer attempted to resolve the issues with the Casaran system by creating the "Aggregated Group Stage" system. This system, first trialed at the 13th Independent Associations Cup, has largely been known in Poafmersia as the "Jacquan" format, named after Hylie Jacquan, the mastermind of the IAC13 project. It was so hotly debated that it came up in an article previously published by the Daily, featuring current senior team manager Adnan Suliaha, and the under-21 team manager Jabik Henderson. The format is a combination of the "randomness" of the Casaran, yet creates some form of the order by preserving the seeding system used in standard group stage systems. Again, it did raise some concerns. Some questioned the use of the Jacquan as a replacement for a standard round robin group stage, arguing that the format doesn't allow teams to experience a "group identity", given that every team's opponents, and their opponents' opponents, are a completely different list from each other. Others wondered if this presented a much harder work for teams in general when deciding which matches are more important than others, as the number of permutations are simply too much. Of course, there are people who believed that the format would result in less "statistical extremes", as it reduces the chances of a schedule of death for multiple teams in the competition.

4 years ago, Zahi Castillias was in The Gothanita Isles, figuring out what was the best way to reform the Gothanitan Football League (GFL) while retaining the numerous clubs with their "rich history" (this, according to Castillias, was extremely debatable). The nation played with 4 conferences, 2 conferences, and even toyed with the other of a single huge league made up of all these big clubs. Among the various proposals, Castillias came up with one proposal, even he considers "ridiculous" looking back at it. The proposal involved converting the league back to the original 4 conference system, and add matches across the conference during the regular season games. Up to this point, the system looked extremely reasonable, and made a lot of sense. What didn't, according to him and some Gothanitan officials whom we talked to, was the playoff system - a triple elimination system, with teams being placed in different levels of the elimination system depending on their regular season performance. In short, the top 2 of every conference started at the top bracket; 3rd starts in the middle bracket, and 4th in the lower bracket. Once you lose a game in the top bracket; you drop to the middle bracket; and from the middle bracket if you lose you go to the lower bracket; lose again and you are eliminated. On paper, it made sense, the logistics behind the triple bracket was extremely ridiculous. Especially with regards to the format of the finals. Basically, they planned out how it may look like, before shelving the format because it looked rather ridiculous to implement in such a small country. Castillias later admitted in an interview to the Poafmersian Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) that he probably wouldn't propose this to the PFFA or any sports associations in Poafmersia anyways. Getting top 2 in the conference means you will just need to win 4 games to win the league title; 3rd requires 7 wins; 4th requires 9 wins. That is such huge disparity.

In June, the Poafmersian Basketball Association (PFBA) announced the formation of the Professional Basketball League (PBL). When you thought league formats can't get more ridiculous, the PBL would prove you wrong. The format was the result of months and months of discussion - in fact, the league was originally slated to start in January and follow the spring-to-fall system just like the PFFL. When outsiders had a look at the format, the reactions was split. Internal pro/reg system, split season, double elims - it made Banija's AOCAF LXII look normal now. The fall season that just concluded was the more normal one, since it featured a straight double round-robin for the regular season. What is going to raise eyebrows is the correct format, which starts for the 2113 Spring Season. The top 6 of the Fall Season (determined by Playoff results, for what its worth) goes into League A; the next 6 teams goes into League B; and the last 6 teams start from League C. We start with round 1, where a double round-robin (10 games per team) is played within the league. The top 2 of League B & C promoting to an upper league, while the bottom 2 of League A & B heads in the opposite direction. The second round then continues, with yet another double round-robin (10 games per team). At this stage, the top 2 teams of League C and bottom 2 teams of League B play a best-of-5 League B playoff; while the top 2 teams of League B and the bottom 2 teams of League A play a best-of-5 League A playoff. The winners of the respective playoff fixture goes to the higher league; the losers, dropping to the lower league. At this stage, its the end of the road for the teams now in League C, as the season is over for them. These 6 teams will start in League C for the next regular season. Meanwhile, the regular season continues into Round 3, which is yet another double round-robin. For League A teams, they will want to get into top 4, which grants them the Upper Bracket for the playoffs; the bottom 2 teams start from the Lower Bracket 2nd round. Meanwhile in League B, they can only start in the Lower Bracket, and they are fighting for the last 4 spots in the playoffs. After the third round, that's the end of the regular season, we now proceed to the playoffs. Its similar idea to the idea Castillias proposed for the GFL, but now we have a double elimination bracket. And you can refer to it below:

Image
Graphical representation of the PBL playoff format (Source: PFBA)

Of course, we also need to remember they have a so-called "Summer Cup" to determine their seasonal champions. While the PFBA has not released the format, the rumours are that the format will be a double elimination bracket as well. What seems to be not normal, however, is the way they determine the entrants for the competition - apparently a mix of regular season results & playoff performance for entry into the competition. That is definitely something to look forward to.

So, in conclusion? If Poafmers are crazy enough to come up with such formats, then they surely can present bids with weird formats, evil twists. And if you are looking on a weird tournament, just call up a Poafmer - they will give you one in no time.

Elections 2112: Vote closes, what is next?

Fiskadaha City - At 9pm sharp here in Fiskadaha City, the gates to the voting centre closed, and with that, the voting has came to an end.

Across the nation, the last vote was casted on Trimidau Island, which saw the last person checking in for their ballot just 20 seconds before the deadline. He checked the box, dropped it in the ballot box, and then walked out of the gates as the polling station assistants closed the gates behind him at Tifika Junior School. And that was it. The days of vote counting begins, starting tonight.

In a country where exit polls are banned, it is difficult to ascertain the exact result of the election. But most analysts continue to put the ruling Kibi Party at a vote count of around 65-70% of the national tally, and some bolder predictions include having the Democracy Front and Makara Party overtaking the Congress Party in Bikasta, Piskn and Gikash. The battle for "Leader of the Opposition", which is given to the party leader of the largest party in opposition, is likely to be a close three-way fight, closer that what it has been in the last election.

It is difficult to break the Kibi Party's stronghold in the current electoral climate. Even a grand pact between the Congress Party, Democracy Front, and Makara Party would not help. The three parties have tried not to alienate each other during political debates, instead catering their policies at different groups of people around in Poafmersia. Congress Party tried to aim for the middle-aged group who thinks the Kibi Party's hold is getting unchecked. Democracy Front tried to aim for the people who think elections could be simplified and more balanced. As for Makara Party, they have tried to absorb the "Green movement" to cater to the environmentalists out there. All 3 have their own strengths, but they are no replacement for the Kibi Party. At least not yet. The Kibi Party's reach is very strong, with its deep lying roots found in many people's hearts. But if there is a change to the situation, it is probably now, at the stage where the successor to Pikashru Nisharian is still not clear.

Over the last two years,
by Chelsea Dufresne, Concord Heights Times

During World Cup Qualifying, we have noticed here at the Concord Heights Times at the number of views on our website increases dramatically, and especially from foreign countries. These readers tend to focus on the sports pages more than other things, so for them, I will provide some updates about things that these readers are wondering about. Cassadagan citizens probably know all of this stuff already.

Let’s start with what is going on at the Royal Palace.
First, it has been a rough two years for Cassie II, who doctors are reporting is in the early stages of dementia. Everyone close to her has reported that it is becoming more and more noticeable, and they are all grateful that she has stepped down from the throne at this point. It’s a terrible medical condition, as we all know, and it is made especially difficult to see someone you know suffer with it, and all of Cassadaigua has seen this happen alive. The family has worked to keep the former Queen isolated and away from the public eye over recent months. This has been something that is difficult for Cassie III, as she sees her mother dealing with the medical condition while trying to lead the nation. Most feel she has done a good job with this, overall. In mainland Cassadaigua, it has been business as usual, and most of the civil disagreements between Cassie III supporters and Brianna supporters have subsided, for now. As for that, it may only be temporary due to the edict that Brianna would rule the northern territory for six years. We are two years into that, so it has been a peaceful beginning under that edict, but in four years who knows what kind of drama may unfold. We’re not there, and for the moment, each side has laid down their protest signs.

Under Cassie III, the economy has continued to go along at it’s expected pace, with many major corporations excited about the opportunity to expand operations north. The Highway 11/41 project was seen as vital for any such expansion. Highway 11 is the busiest north-south freeway in the country, originating from Starksville in the south and traveling northward through Concord Heights and initially terminating near Northbury. This freeway is being expanded into the Northern Territory all the way to the Cooper River, running close to the border with Sicoutimont. Once in the northern territory, it will become the main road that other roads branch off of. It’s a massive project that will take years to complete, but is coming along well and is open to traffic now in some sections. Otherwise, the pre-existing roads are still being utilized. Highway 41 originates in Rutland down south, and travels north through places like Grande Mountain and Winchester, and that, too, is being expanded into the Northern Territory. This will be on the western end of the territory, and will also terminate at the Cooper River. This has been slower to come to fruition, due to being in the hotbed area of activity with The River Republic, but workers are doing the best they can. So far, the work on 41 has not taken place close to the Cooper River, so, for now, River Republic terrorists have not taken the lives of any of the workers.

We’ve seen some businesses open up shop in the Northern Territory, with Cassgo, the leading gas station in the country, opening up a couple dozen stations, mostly near the Highway 11 corridor. There is some back and forth going on between Cassie III and Brianna I about who collects the tax revenue from these companies, but that just seems to be a matter of agreeing on a percentage point breakdown. Schools and hospitals have been the primary focus, though, and Cassie III and Brianna have been working together very well on this aspect to make sure that the most important needs are addressed. In the Northern Territory, there are efforts to make Moreau, a city just north of the traditional border, and on the Highway 11 corridor, the biggest city in the territory, and this is where Brianna has been spending much of her time.

Cassadagan troops are no longer in the streets of the northern territory, but military bases have been created in various areas, much in the way in that any country would create a miliary base in their own country. These bases are predominantly in the northern portion of the territory, due to the threat from pirates and terrorists.

In less important aspects, the sports front has also seen successes with Cassie III bringing the nation back to the World Bowl and the World Cup of Hockey, and the World Lacrosse Championships were recently held here. Signups for the International Basketball Championships were recently opened and while we cannot say the nation has formally signed up for that yet, it is believed that the paperwork is nearly 100% finished for a signup there as well.

In World Cup news, the team opened with an immensely frustrating 1-1 draw against Tjorl on the road. Sure, give the Krigerne credit, they played a fantastic game in Czujon, under the guidance of Viktor Mandel, but this is not wanted Cassadagans wanted to see after the frustrating failure to qualify for World Cup 91. With Nephara in the group, the Cormorants having an early bye day, and our head to head matchup against them not until the end of each half, there was a great opportunity for the Fillies to set the tone in the group where they could have Nephara looking up at us most of the way during the first leg, simply because our bye day is not until late. But this draw will probably keep that from happening and instead put the pressure on the Fillies. In the match, the lone goal was scored by Rachel Bolden in the 37th minute, but the 62nd minute Martin Breiner goal could not be overcome.

Cassadaigua did play a lot better in the home opener, coming at Dagan Airways Stadium in Concord Heights with Morgan Rosenblatt getting the team on the board quickly, just four minutes in. Bayley Stanton made it 2-0 in the 19th, and after East Murbley got one back before the intermission, the Fillies managed a pair of second half goals: Stanton again in the 55th, and Chloe Anderson in the 70th. The team will need more efforts like this going forward.

It's The Time for Election

President Joao Makarin officially dissolved the parliament. It means the election is near. Following the dissolution, the government have a maximum of 60 days in order to held the general election. It is going to be the tenth general election held in the country after the civil war that change the face of the country. Federation becomes their choice. Even though it is viewed as the best solution for them but the distance between the two entities is getting wider and wider every year. It can be seen with the election results where only political party based on a region that win a votes in that region. Arra's political party gradually leading the election as the number of seat in the region grew larger than in Palidas.

In the last election, União do Povo (UdP), Arra based political party, win the election after securing 15.56% of the votes. Most of their win are in Arra's provinces. They lead the lower house of Acastanha together with Partido Liberal Democrático de Palidas (PLDP), second largest votes winner and Palidas based political party. UdP have win for the past 3 general elections. While in the opposition side, we have a coalition that leads by Arra Nasionalis Parti (ANP) and Partido Progressista Sindical (PPS).

Leading to every election, the one and most important issue is always about equality. Following the independent of Acastanha from the Lusitan, the Lusitars, a named for mixed Lusitan and Arramayn, are leading in every aspect of the country. From politics to economy. From science to military. The disparity between the Lusitars and the native, Arramayn leads to the breakout of civil war. The result of the war is the establishment of 2 separate state for the 2 major ethnics in the country. The Arramayn with Republic of Arra. And the Lusitar with Republic of Palidas. And the capital is established as its own area. The separation leads to the fast development of Arra. And they are able to catch up from Palidas. The vast development also lead to the increase of population in the area. Even so, Arra's state government still feel the disparity. Recently, the issue is heathen up again especially after opposition leader, Benigno Karpanyo statement about the abolition of two states system that the country have today. The situation is getting worse after Arra's First Minister announced the intention to held a self of determination. Although the moved was dismissed by the Vice President, Miranda Garbuno.

Arra Nasionalis Parti is the political party that is known vocally promote for separation. The party demands a larger power is give to Arra Republic for them to govern their state. Something that highly rejected by the central government. However, the support for the party have increased in every election. They are currently the third largest party in Acastanhada lower house. And the second largest party in Arra Republic. It would be a huge concern if the party win the upcoming election. Political expert, Andre Aramde said his concern if that ever happened. He afraid that Arra state government will continue their plan for a referendum. It is something that will break the country apart. However, Aramde's concern is dismissed by government spokesperson. He said that the referendum won't be happening if the central government reject the plan.

Despite all the concerns, the government is now focusing on holding the general election in the next 60 days. In a week, the government will announced the exact date for the election, confirmation of the registered voters and the new apportionment of the both houses of the Parliament following the 2020 official census.

Ceni 3–5 DELACLAVA
Falkenrath 26', Onasi 49', Ellex-Mar 84' | Gretler 10', Meyer 34', Kovalev 42' 75', Anagnakis 63'
James; Barry, Champagne, Gouin (Zhusupov 76'), Baxayev; Temirkanov, Romeijn, Martin (Demirjian 46'), Kovalev; Meyer (Anagnakis 46'), Gretler.

The Phoenixes and the Cenians kicked off the Pronghorn Cup with furious flair, an intriguing battle between two teams with attacking styles and the talent of tomorrow to show off. It was the Phoenixes with a bit more recent form and experience who were able to strike first and never looked back.

DELACLAVA 1–1 Independent Athletes from Quebec
Meyer 78' | Babin 73'
James; Barry, Champagne, Gouin, Torres; Bartoš (Zaitsev 46'), Romeijn, Lindblad (Tudor 61'), Martin, Kovalev (Anagnakis 46'); Meyer.

Although Delaclava only needed a draw against the Grim Reapers to sew up the Pronghorn Cup, the lack of scoring wasn't for a lack of trying, with both sides playing with aggression to generate chances, albeit ineffective and wild ones. After the Phoenixes managed to even a deficit five minutes later, the two teams seemed to settle for the inevitable result. Raucous Ram Ranch fun ensued.

DELACLAVA 2–1 Togonistan
Meyer 47' 72' | Tufele 18'
James; Barry (Meñica 73'), Champagne, Gouin, Baxayev (Torres 73'); Bartoš, Romeijn, Lindblad, Martin (Demirjian 46'), Kovalev; Meyer.

In the first competitive match of the season, the Phoenixes initially looked nervous in front of their home crowd in Manchester. Once they settled into the game and displayed their superior skill and tactics, the result was inevitable.

Hopal 1–5 DELACLAVA
Gouin (o.g.) 36' | Meyer 11', Anagnakis 20' 53', Khautov 49', Dillon 84'
Rodriguez; Barry (Barker 46'), Champagne, Gouin, Baxayev; Temirkanov, Brouillard, Tudor, Demirjian (Dillon 67'), Anagnakis; Meyer (Khautov 46')

Even with a younger, reduced lineup, the Phoenixes were no match for hapless Hopal, and Delaclava managed to earn the kind of statement win that asserts their dominance at the top of the group. Just in time to come back to Manchester, where Zwangzug awaits.

Supreme Court upholds Laguna ordinance but orders modification

The Supreme Court of Delaclava issued an opinion on Tuesday that partially upheld the constitutionality of a municipal ordinance in a case that has captured the attention of the nation and has been dubbed by many as the "undocumented immigrant" case.

The city of Laguna, which is in the Crystal Lake metropolitan area but lies in a different county and has an entirely separate local government, passed a law that required all employers to only hire employees who lived within two miles of the work location. In conjunction with other local laws that limited the use of personal vehicles, it effectively banned employees from driving to work. In response to the law, numerous businesses began to either falsify addresses for, or completely neglect to verify, addresses for potential employees who were ineligible to work at the location. This phenomenon was soon discovered and dubbed by many news outlets, local and national, as "undocumented immigrants".

In response, the Laguna government authorized police to arrest employees who were caught driving to unauthorized work locations and began collecting fines from non-compliant businesses. This resulted in three of Laguna's largest businesses filing suit against the City of Laguna in federal district court: Granite Peak, a security consulting firm; the Laguna School District; and St. Demeter Hospital, the city's largest hospital and medical provider. The district court struck down the statute and awarded compensatory and punitive damages to the affected employees and employers.

The employers appealed the ruling to the Court of Appeals, which upheld the ruling on the statute but vacated the order for damages, holding that damages were "inappropriate when the City was carrying out a presently valid municipal ordinance for which it had a compelling interest to enact and enforce." The City petitioned the Supreme Court to review the case, while the employers cross-appealed to reinstate the order for damages.

In a 5-2 majority opinion, Justice David Novak wrote: "The City of Laguna has a sufficient interest in enacting the statute at controversy. Its explicitly stated desire to promote environmental health, increase the use of public transportation, decrease unnecessary road congestion, and promote the physical health of its citizens, in the collective, is a legitimate purpose that outweighs the potential burdens on employers and employees who in the future will enter into new employment contracts...Therefore, we reverse the ruling of the Court of Appeals."

However, the majority opinion also ordered that the statute be modified within 60 days to include a process for some companies or organizations to apply for an exemption to the statute. "It is within the contemplation of the City Council that some employers, in the nature of their business and operations, carry such importance to the public good that their unique interests may outweigh the City's purpose in a way that the general interest of employers does not." The opinion declined to comment on which employers might qualify for such an exemption, but a long line of cases have previously elaborated on the "public good" doctrine; the opinion implied that at least one of the plaintiff-respondents would qualify for such an exemption, and at least one would not.

The majority opinion also required a modification to the enforcement scheme for the ordinance. "While monetary and other penalties may be an appropriate against the employers, the detention and criminal charge of individuals is inconsistent with the purpose of the ordinance, and unreasonably restricts the right of the individual to seek employment and to travel freely... Accordingly, while we affirm the vacation of the damages order, we reinstate the district court's award of compensatory and punitive damages to the injured individuals. The award of damages to individuals as determined by the district court is final and not appealable, and injured individuals need not pursue further action in the district court to obtain this remedy."

A dissenting opinion authored by Justice Rudolf Klein blasted the majority opinion for its "unprecedented authorization of the restriction of free enterprise, which shall have the effect of driving business and commerce out of a hostile environment and damaging the economic health of the Crystal Lake region and Delaclava as a whole."

We’re doing better than the other guys!
By Jack Stewart, blogger

Maybe I was wrong! Maybe we really will qualify for the World Cup, as after two games, we are doing better than Cassadaigua, itself! In our first ever qualifying game, we defeat the club from Ingont by the score of 3-1. Some might say that Ingont is not going to be any good either, and this result does not say much overall, but I am not going to hear any of that nonsense. Audioslavia only beat Ingont by one. We beat them by two, therefore we can be better than Audislavia! We won our first ever qualifying game. Think of all of the other great nations out there that play in this competition. How many of them do you think won the first ever game they played? We really took it to Ingont, too, scoring two goals in the first twenty five minutes. The first ever goal scored by North Cassadaigua was from Madison Carroll, coming after a nifty pass by Johnny Fisher. Look, I am not a professional journalist or soccer analyst, so I am not going to go into all of the technical stuff but I know it was a goal and that Madison made history. Because of that, Madison will be first ever player interview whenever I am able to prove to stadium security that I should be given locker room access.

After beating Ingont, I was able to make my first ever road trip, going to Loyo, but no official information was provided. And there’s no joyo in that. They don’t even have a roster submitted, which I don’t understand. Why would you not want to let everyone know who you’re athletes are? Are they embarrassed by them? Are they criminals from the country and the powers that be just don’t want the public to know their actual identity? Are they not citizens of Loyo at all, and from another place, and they don’t want to reveal their names? Fortunately, an amazing sports agent with knowledge of the country told me where to go, and where the stadium would be, so I was able to make it. And then, I was able to see our team win again. By the score of 1-0. Our goalie, Thomas Scholer was amazing! I didn’t count how many saves he made, but it was a lot. I am sorry, about twenty minutes in, it did occur to me that I should be keeping track of that. Our goal was scored by Johnny Fisher, and it was in the 40th minute. In the second half, Omar Casillas got a red card because the referee thought that soccer wasn’t a physical game when Casillas made a tackle. It came in the 82nd minute. But amazingly, the Loyo player hopped right up after the red card was issued and seemed to perfectly fine after that. I don’t know what is in the air in this country, but this unnamed dude went from looking like he broke his leg and could never walk again to being perfectly fine in minutes!

But wait, get this! Because of this, Casillas can’t play in the next game. How rude is that?!

Next we will put our perfect record on the line against Britonesia at home, and then I get to travel to Graintfjall. Graintfjall didn’t look like World Cup champions in their first game, as they couldn’t even beat Tikariot. Tikariot never beats Cassadaigua, so they can’t be that good, right? So maybe Graintfjall is overrated, or maybe they will beat us 14-0.

Part I of ??
Introduction.

An Athearan bomber dives onto their target, facing directly against the enemy anti air guns. It continued to get shot, before it went upwards and dropped it's bombs, destroying the campsite. As it proceeded to fly back in retreat, Athearan tanks stormed the campsite, still with extremely heavy resistance from the opposition despite the damage that was caused by the bombs. After intense fighting, the enemy was driven back as they retreated. A massive victory for Atheara, as it was the last ISLORA campsite that was several tens of kilometers just outside of Astena, the nation's capital.

The soldiers that were inside the tanks climbed out and cheered in victory along with the others. Astena was officialy safe from any ISLORA activity, and they wouldn't dare try to come back. One soldier however, wasn't cheering to the victory that much as she seems to pick up the ashes of a ISLORA soldier, before letting it be blow by the wind. She could hear the footsteps of one of the soldiers that were approaching her. She stood up and proceeded to look at the one approaching. He didn't really see that excited from the victory as well, rather, he was in a neutral mood. He gave a salute as she saluted him back. The male soldier looked around before speaking to the female one.

"Captain Cecilia, I have gathered and assessed our gains and losses."

"State, Rozmund."

The female soldier was Cecilia Scharlund, a young white haired woman who only recently turned twenty two. Despite being younger than many of the soldiers there, she proved to be an experienced leader. Someone who always prioritizes everyone first and shows care for others even in the toughest situations. She was someone who was born to be a leader no matter what. Meanwhile, the other soldier is Rozmund Fallagher, a close friend to Cecilia since a young age. Overall an excellent fighter on the battlefield and the type of person you can rely on to turn the tides.

"We lost a total of twelve men and their weapons, along with one tank. We gained hundreds more weapons and equipment from the cache underground, and ISLORA had lost over a hunder men and several of their tanks, along with some artillery pieces that were stationed here."

"Understood. You can go and check upon the others now, thanks for the information."

Rozmund can only give a nod to his friend and captain. He proceeded to leave Cecilia to her own thoughts as he would check up on the other soldiers. Cecilia meanwhile looked around. The destruction from those bombs and the fighting, this camp was basically a ruin unsuitable for use. And yet the ATAC wanted to use it as a front base from Astena itself? Cecilia shook her head in somewhat disbelief. There were better ideas she can think of when it comes to establishing a new front base of operations, but they wouldn't even be considered. Well, there was nothing she can do.

Cecilia looked around once again, many of her fellow men and women were taking a break and resting up. Weapons ranged from guns to, a lesser extent, melee weapons such as swords. "Talent should be used where it can, afterall." Cecilia muttered to herself. She started walking around, heading to the East Wing of this former ISLORA camp, away from the others. She just wanted a bit of time to herself, to clear up her thoughts. It felt quite refreshing to get a breathe of air, even if it was air from a recent battleground. She rarely had the opportunity to enjoy time for herself.

She took in the enviroment of the East Wing, as it wasn't as damaged as the West Wing. This camp that was used is actually a mansion, Cecilia laughed a bit. For her, this wouldn't be enough as a front base, but who is she to judge? Either way, everything is already going as planned. All she has to do is to finish it. ISLORA will just be another footnote in Athearan history by the end of the World Cup Qualifiers, which she finds a bit funny. The fact that they are timing it by the World Cup was something funny for the Scharlund.

"Well... Time to go back, I suppose. Rozmund might be worried to death if I vanish for more than five minutes without notice."

And so, Cecilia left the East Wing to go back to the West Wing. While slowly walking towards there, she wondered about it. Why and how did ISLORA form? Why would they want Atheara to isolate themselves again? The nation was doing extremely well ever since they opened up internationally. She will never understand the thought process of the people that formed this organization. Maybe if she continues fighting, the answers she wanted will show itself? That much Cecilia is yet to know. Pressing forward was the only way for now.

Once she returned to the West Wing, a soldier immediately approached her with someone handcuffed. This handcuffed person had a sickly smile on his face, he looked like a maniac. Rozmund and the other soldier was keeping him in place, with the latter having a gun at hand in case things end up getting messy. Cecilia was confused, who was this man and what is going on?

"Rozmund, what's going on? Who's this... Lunatic looking person?"

"Ah, this man here calls himself Kharschkal Lievendott. He claims he's a part of ISLORA, we found him attempting to escape from here."

"I can confirm what Sir Rozmund is saying, Captain Cecilia."

Cecilia gave a nod as she understood. The captain gave a more thorough look at this Kharschkal person. While she was studying him, it seems this man was also doing the same to her, studying the person. Cecilia gave a "hmph" once she was done.

"What do you want?"

"Oh hahaha... Madam Cecille, I wanted to talk, of course."

"First, it's Captain for you. Second, the name is Cecilia, not Cecille. Third, I had thought you wanted to escape, Kharschkal?"

"With my current situation, I thought this be the opportunity."

"Fine. What is it that you want to say?"

"Hahahahahaha... Atheara will lose. ISLORA is still far bigger than you imagine. It's bigger than everything this nation has, you think you are winning... But you are only delaying the inevitable fate of this nation. You lost before you could do anything."

"What utter bullshit are you spewing out? You're deluded, ISLORA has lost before the war even started."

"You will see in due time..."

Cecilia stared at Kharschkal in disgust. This man was deluded in thinking the ISLORA can still win this civil war. She shook her head as the captain proceeded to turn around. She thought for a few minutes, what should she do with this lunatic? There were many underlying factors here that she has to consider. Would it be worth it keeping Kharschkal alive to try and dig up information? How important is he to ISLORA? How much can he offer for the military, and what can they possibly find from this man? It was getting quite confusing, but Cecilia made her decision.

She signalled forward, a sign to put him somewhere so she can deal with the man later. Rozmund and the other soldier nodded, as they started dragging Kharschkal somewhere. As the two continued on to find somewhere to keep him prisoner, Khraschkal looked behind him to see Cecilia, as he gave the captain a sinister smile. Cecilia could only stare on as then, they took a turn and dissapeared from her sight.

"I'll personally make sure Atheara wins this war, and you'll be proven wrong. That much I am sure of."

Boot It!: Not A Bad Start At All!

Postby TJUN-ia » Sat Oct 01, 2022 8:51 am

By Peter Davis

It's that time once again when the whole world decides to play. There are many sports competitions across the world, each of them with its own appeal and diehard followers, but there is only one World Cup...and it's finally back. 172 nations have started a 22-game adventure, one in which 15 will join co-hosts Electrum and Vilita in the promised land while another 30 will have to play another 2 for the other 15 spots. One of those nations is the International Community of TJUN-ia, a team that has certainly changed since our WC Finals debut 4 years ago. David Seems and Li Xiu Ying desperately tried to get us back there two years ago and while we did reach the playoffs, that would be the end of that. Now, we are going to be seeing less of Li as she prepares for her due date and as such, it will mostly be Seems trying to rally this team - just like the first WC we played. No matter what, this team is going to fight for their right to be at a 2nd WC...so let's start the madness. Let the game begin. May the odds be ever in your favour.

The CU Zone would be where our 9th WCQ began as Tallawah Stadium in Port Town would host the opener against debutants Talannua, which is basically a nation made up of what had been left behind after Delaclava moved almost everything to the distant Sonnel. William Shore would lead his Wild Horses into battle today in front of a packed house and this game was basically one in which both teams took positives, but the obvious side won. Both Seems and Li were on hand to witness this game that was essentially two 2-1 games put together. The first half saw both of TJUN-ia's strikers, Malhrani al-Kalhrani and Archer Andrews, link up with the ever-reliable Prince Carter to shoot past John True for a 2-0 lead before Thomas Brook gave the Wild Horses their first ever WC goal just before half time. The second half would see more of our bench come out to play, with Max van Oosterend and Jackson Smith-Scott managing to enter the scoresheet before David Woods gave the visitors a 2nd to take home with them. It ended 4-2, a great way for the Jaguars to start this long road.

Speaking of the road, the first road game was up next as we paid a visit to #80 Qasden, a team with the experience to knock you don't if you aren't careful. Seems admitted that managing this game without his wife by his side was certainly going to be strange, but he knew that his team was going to certainly try no matter what. This game turned out to be an absolute barnburner, as the home crowd got to witness 6 goals and a game that could be described as more of a tennis match than a football game. The first half started with only 2 goals, with a nice strike by Kelo Ngwemanagawa being countered by the hosts, but the 2nd half would turn out to be where things certainly were as strikes from both Malhrani al-Kalhrani and Yomakaji Shimigatsu were countered in turn. In the end, this 3-3 draw was certainly hard-fought and all we can really say is that both sides certainly deserved something from this game.

4 points out of 6? Not a bad start at all! I think many here will take that start and hope to build upon it in the 18 games to come. Up next will be a nice trip to Toropo to host Saltstead before we head out to Sixty-ninE X to try and figure out what the actual fuck a "69X" even is. Should be fun so please, don't change that dial! GO JAGS!

And now, for no clear reason whatsoever, a look back at the World Cup 90 playoffs

Since it was only two World Cups ago, which means that unless we did something weird like have 5 years between World Cups, something even RL thinks is weird, it has not been 10 years since Milchama last qualified for the World Cup. And of course, since anniversary pieces can only first one ten years later, or else we can't really begin to see the true historic significance of something, there is no reason to run an anniversary piece on any of Milchama's qualifying campaigns since the end of the Isolation. This includes World Cup 89, which probably did happen more than 10 years ago, but since that basically amounted to a throat clearing by the Warriors we can safely ignore that. So why talk about World Cup 90? We'll get to that.

However, we're not going to talk about all of World Cup. We're not going to talk about the improbable qualifying campaign and beating Quebec (and making them go absolutely nuts). We're not going to talk about the "just happy to be here" World Cup campaign where the Warriors did a credible draw against Banija. No, we're going to talk about the height of the campaign, the playoff win over Drawkland.

Milchama did come out of World Cup 90 qualifying looking like a lucky team with some good results. Lamerain and the team were very clear that they were "happy to be here" but also said that every game was winnable. The Warriors had a never say die attitude throughout qualifying tieing or winning several games very late on. And of course being a 5th seed that had finished second had already proven their mettle. Despite all that Drawkland came in as the clear favorites, they were a second seed who had only been denied a top of the group because of a great Turori. Meanwhile the Warriors had scrapped though and even drawn with the last place team on the penultimate MD. So it was definitely advantage Drawkland.

The one thing Milchama had in their favor was that they were at home in the first leg. And also that the game was going to be batshit crazy. Both teams were known as attacking sides and when you add two attacking sides together what you get is attack, attack, attack. It almost looks like these guys
Image
(this is of course a picture of well known crabcore band Attack! Attack!)

if they played soccer.

The first leg certainly lived up to that promise as Milchama won in stunning fashion 5-3. Despite being down 2-1 and then 3-2 the Warriors fought back each time. Most memorably when Marc J. Floren, yes the OG great striker, and not the unrelated Marc K. Floren seemed to shapeshift and score a goal to tie the game in the 68th minute. Milchama then got the 4th goal on a defensive mix up by Drawkland and a 5th goal by some luck as the Elite Eleven had brought all 11 players looking for an equalizer in stoppage time. That gave the Warriors a 2 goal lead heading into the second leg in Drawkland

That second leg was even crazier than the first leg. Drawland took a 2-0 lead after only 15 minutes in the first half and looked to be getting a draw. With away goals being a tie breaker that meant that Milchama was clearly on the outs and the Elite Eleven were going to qualify. However, the second half went crazy. Flomes scored to make it 2-1, then Drawkland scored to make it 3-1, then Milchama scored to make it 3-2, and Marc K. Floren scored one of the legendary goals in the Milchamian history to make it 3-3. Let's hear the radio call on that one more time (how is it possible to hear a radio call? Unclear but we're going with it anyway).

"Waver over to Floren, who brings it down about 25 yards outside of the box, 4 Drawkland defenders in the way, only ben Johansson for company. Beats one, nutmegs a second, passes a third, HE'S ONLY 18 YARDS OUT NOW, SHOOTS AND SCORES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! MILCHAMA HAS TIED THE GAME!!!!!! IT'S 3-3 IN THE 78TH MINUTE AND IT'S ALL TO PLAY FOR NOW AT SPARTAN STADIUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Of course the Elite Eleven would immediately pull one back to make it 4-3 Drawkland and despite some valiant efforts by the Eleven to score one more goal the Warrior defense stood firm and Milchama was able to hold on. The final score was 4-3 Drawkland but more importantly the final aggregate score was 8-7 Milchama. That sent the Warriors into the World Cup and the Elite Eleven into fits of rage. The celebrating Milchamians were running around with the away fans while a stunned Drawk fandom was slowly sadly filing away in the stands. It was a crazy playoff, two incredible games, and one of the most memorable times for Milchamian football (or soccer if you prefer).

So again, despite the good memories, why do we bring this up? Oh we're playing Drawkland in MD3 in the first game we've played them in soccer since we beat team to qualify for the World Cup. What a coincidence. I never realized that! There was absolutely no way we would've published this retrospective at such a sensitive time for all of Drawkland. Well there's nothing like shared memories of the one of the greatest events in Milchamian history, that just happened to be against Drawkland, in an international newspaper that I know Drawks read to think about before our game against them very soon. Anywhoo, let's hope that history can repeat itself in qualifying.

Back With...No Goals?!

Postby Kimi-Suomi » Sat Oct 01, 2022 9:36 am

Taitaa olla taas se aika. Yes, it is finally time for the Top 80 Huuhkajat to get back to play with 3 new players, more players under club contracts and the 5 subs rule in full effect. You could certainly feel that the overall quality of this team has gotten better and better as the years have gone on and now, Esko Laaksonen enters a 4th WC with a few good tools at his disposal...all we need is everything to come together nicely in a group as tough as this one.

Game 1 was against debutant Kethsi on the road and despite our obvious advantages overall, this game was actually tighter than many expected. Of course, there were chances, with Kimi Airo and Valtteri Nordström having about 12 shots at goal between them, but whoever was in net for the host was actually a fucking tiiliseinä in disguise, as that was the only thing I could think of that could explain this game. We tried everything, but we couldn't get past them at all. 0-0 draw...I don't know what to say. Good game though, Kethsi!

Game 2 was against the returning Eteläiset Palmsaaret [Southern Palm Islands] at the first game of the campaign at Pesä. The crowd were certainly ready for what could've been a good night...but Jamu Ouattara clearly had other ideas and just decided to play us at our own game. This game was an unexpected back-and-forth affair, with both Kimi Airo and Daniel Plascas almost striking gold on numerous occasions but always being denied. Both Kauko Loukamaa and Rawat Khan were certainly busy goalies out there but despite the pressure, they both held firm. Unlike the first game where we deserved 3 and only got one 1, this game saw both teams deserving points in general. It was that kind of game...positives on all sides, but no goals.

Starting off with 2 0-0 draws certainly isn't ideal but with 18 games still to play, the alarm bells certainly aren't ringing just yet. Now we will have to deal with Omerikka [Omerica] on the road and Lakikieli [Legalese] at home, two teams who are also in similar predicaments. If anyone wins, it may be a blessing. NOSTA KUIN HUUHKAJAT!

Who is the Talannua national kicks team, you might ask?

How can a frontier wasteland be a nation, let alone have a national team?

It started with a young man named Thomas Thibaudeau. Thomas had been a promising high school and collegiate player in the Victoriana area, but at 23 years old, he hadn't made quite enough of an impact to get a professional contracted. Undaunted, he took on an electrician job to pay the bills, while still training to one day play in the United Football League.

His childhood dream had been to play in the World Cup, and he knew that dream was long gone by now, but he just wanted the chance to play football for a living, in front of a real crowd.

When The Folding came, Thomas largely thought nothing of it. Victoriana, like all the other major cities and metropolitan areas, would be transplanting to Sonnel, and so would all of its people and infrastructure. Thomas went to bed that night, having no expectation that anything would be different the next morning.

Suddenly, he was bolted awake, felt a howling wind tease and pull at his entire body, his guts feeling like they would collapse into a black hole and blow apart all at once. Flailing, gasping for air...

He woke up somewhere. Fortunately, some hunters heard the thud he made when he came crashing down and brought him back to the town of Castaic. He could only remember his first name, Thomas; since they could him near a brook, they called him "Thomas Brook". Thomas Brook was fortunate to suffer only some bruising and scratches, no broken bones or missing flesh, and he recovered quickly.

Naturally, once he was feeling better, the first thing he wanted to do was get back onto the pitch. At first, it was just him kicking around a ball he'd happen to find in a shed behind the local school. Although he was considerate enough to put it back each day, he looked forward to coming back after hours to retrieve the ball and get back to work.

One day, one of the teachers at the school, William Shore, spotted Thomas out on the field. He didn't mind that a member of the community was using the field; on the contrary, he was happy to see it, and was impressed by the young man's skills. Thomas asked if there were other adult players. William said sometimes on the weekends, various factions of recreational players would get together for a game or two. Thomas had a bold proposition: put together a formal team.

Shore said yes. In all honesty, he wasn't even sure how to go about the logistics, but he wanted to try, and this gave him something that would brighten up what had been dull affairs lately. Shore held a tryout. It was apparent that Thomas Brook would make the team, and Shore picked fifteen others who were on their game and up for this crazy journey.

It helped that in Delaclava's announcement of the folding, they had coined the term "Talannua" for the Past Lands abandoned by Delaclava. It didn't sit quite right to adopt a name given by a government that had upset the balance of Atlantian Oceania, but it was a beautiful name after all, and this decision had given the "nation" an air of legitimacy that would allow it to enter. They would own this new identity.

The first step was (relatively) easy. They received word that the Baptism of Fire would be in Ko-oren and Mertagne, two nations known to them and not all that far away. Shore commandeered a vessel and the team was off to Anaia. This team was supremely talented if unpolished, winning two of its five games, losing just one to the eventual champions, and reaching the quarterfinals of the tournament. Thomas Brook scored eight of the team's 13 goals in the tournament, while Matthew Plant, a grocer, also proved to be a very handy player with four goals.

The next step, the World Cup, would be much harder - not only would Talannua have to travel to ten different nations to compete, they'd also have to come back home after each one to host a match. Where could Talannua possibly host such an important match?

Here, in Castaic, William Shore declared. At the school? Yes, Shore insisted. The game was the game. As long as it was a field, who cared what else would surround it? The Wild Horses, as they called themselves, would play for themselves and for their fans. They owed nothing to their opponents.

And that's how, remarkably, a rag-tag bunch of small-town players came together to play Cabo Azure, the 60th-ranked team in the world, in their own backyard. Once the nerves settled and the game kicked off - considering all they'd been through - playing them to a 2-2 draw was the easy part. When Thomas Brook curled his first shot over the head of Adão Moniz and into the net past Ambrosio Gomez, it felt more natural than anything else. And when John Stable tore down the left side of the field, making the turn around Amilcar Branco and powering all the way through to the net to tie the game in the late stages, he needed to hear no more than the adoration of the townspeople who had walked up and surrounded the field to observe.

This is the Talannua kicks team. And this is Talannua. Left to fend for themselves, the people have forged something extraordinary all on their own.

The players of the respective clubs across the entirety of the Pasargan pyramid had to feel a little bit uneasy, as there had been a deal struck with those in Valladares that the entire pyramid would be playing their matches in Valladares until such time that the dual islands were deemed to be safe for the players and fans to attend matches. Valladares was on the other side of Rushmore compared to the dual islands tucked away in the northwestern corner of the region, part of the home nations of the region as it were alongside Nethertopia, Sargossa, and Candelaria And Marquez. Valladares in comparison was far to the southeast of the region and surrounded by what appeared on the surface to be inhospitable lands. It was about as far away as one could get from the dual islands as you could get and still remain within the region. Although those in the PFA were clearly proud of their accomplishment and had headed towards the country after the agreement to attempt to scout out which cities would be playing host to what clubs so that the upcoming SuperLiga season would be able to be run as smoothly as possible, if a whole season had to be run away from Pasarga.

The national team was going to be another issue, although thankfully the upcoming Copa Rushmori would see the team being in another nation for at least a month, though with the qualifiers that were supposed to come a few months after would bring much worry. If this civil strife had not been settled by then, would the Wanderers have to be playing their home matches in Valladares or another Rushmori nation rather than in Torgos as had been the custom for nearly a century? There would be no way that the side would be able to have the same sort of home advantage if it was forced to play its matches outside the nation, nor would the attendance and revenue that was needed to fund the entire PFA going to be anywhere near the same, even if whoever their would be hosts agreed to giving the PFA the lions' share of the proceeds from the matches. All of it spelled for some very troubling times in the near future for football in Pasarga, as it came so poorly after the SuperLiga had just managed to firmly place itself in as one of the major leagues across the sport and the Wanderers looking to get their groove back.

However it all paled in comparison to what the citizens of Torgos and the entire nation were now dealing with. Brother and sister doubting one another about what to believe and who was actually supporting the queen and who was supporting those who were trying to have the royal siblings ousted from power. The first mortar strike that blew up a marketplace in the residential district the night before as the mercenary forces finally found themselves outside of Torgos revealed that there would be collateral damage without consequence. If this was truly being funded by Pasargans, they had completely turned on what it meant to be Pasargan by employing such measures. As daybreak, the nominal force that was the Royal Guard were stilling manning their stations and firing back at the growing forced outside of Torgos, although they knew they would not hold out for long. A detachment of the coast guard was hastily trying to assemble an evacuation force and get those they could from Torgos to the isle of Peynol, any port would do at this point. They needed to save as many lives as they could before the Guard were overcome one way or another.

92ND WORLD CUP QUALIFYING RECAP: WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES

Hello and welcome to The Football Fallacies. Right, so it is upon us all once again. The qualifiers for the 92nd World Cup are here, and as has become tradition for the Samahang Futbol ng Abanhfleft once again, it is the women’s team that will take on the job of seeing if they can put Abanhfleft back in the tournament of all tournaments. Yeah, if you’re a first timer here at Gaelic Gamers, you probably don’t know that the SFA sends out the men’s team to qualify for the odd-numbered world cups while the women’s team are deployed for the even-numbered world cups. And given that this is the 92nd World Cup we’re trying to get into, it’s no surprise that it’s the women’s team that’s been given the job.

A lot has changed since the last time the Abanhfleft’s women’s team tried to get the Democratic Republic back into football’s biggest stage. Well, for one thing, they’ve finally won something. Yes, an Abanhfleft football team finally managed to do the impossible and win some silverware for the country. And it wasn’t just any random piece of silverware either, it’s the bloody Women’s World Cup! Yeah, yeah, officially speaking, Abanhfleft’s only won the 3rd Jenna Raven Cup, but I think it’s a similar deal to what the Starblaydians have with the Di Bradini Cup also being the Under-21 World Cup. In any case, I’m counting it as silverware, and so is the SFA. Kate Bernanos looked like she was at the end of her time managing the Fleftic women’s team, but after winning the Jenna Raven Cup, the SFA simply had no choice but to keep her onboard and hope that her newfound luck continues on into the World Cup qualifiers. But as we’ll see later, that’s not exactly how things panned out.

I mean, when you think about it, Bernanos really had no choice but to call up the squad with which she won the Jenna Raven Cup. Even when the qualifiers were a year after the Cup itself, Kate Bernanos had to call them up because they were the team with which her tactics clicked into place. Not to suggest that other players couldn’t pick up her tactics as well, but for those few days in Baker Park, the 23 Lady Revolutionaries that Bernanos had picked for her Women’s World Cup squad all came together to produce what could be described as the football performance of a lifetime for any team representing the blue, orange, and green. And I’m not saying that just because the ladies beat HUElavia for the Jenna Raven Cup. No, it was their victories through the knockout stages, that kryptonite of the Revolutionaries, that showed us that this crop of players just might be different from their predecessors.

But reality has a way of dragging a person back to reality, and not in a very nice way too. Abanhfleft’s first qualifier was an away match to the Cordian Isles, and after a year away from each other, there was simply no coordination between the players. Everyone had seemingly forgotten how to play with each other, but then again, that’s the effect of not playing with each other for one year after winning a trophy for you. Don’t get me wrong, the ladies were playing friendlies whenever they could, it’s just that the specific team that won the Women’s World Cup hadn’t played with each other again until the first qualifier against the Cordian Isles, and the time that they all spent away from each other showed. Passes were going nowhere, and if the ball wasn’t going from a Fleftic player to a Cordian one then it went off beyond the sidelines and whatnot. I mean, you really wouldn’t be able to tell that this was almost the same team that won the Jenna Raven Cup just a year ago! That’s how much the passage of time has changed the gals. Yeah, they’re still pretty good on their own, but their combination was nowhere near as good as we all know that they had been before.

There was also a bit of a downpour going on over there in Cordasfjell as far as I could tell from my dodgy stream, but I’m not going to stoop so low as to suggest that the weather had anything to do with the fact that the Lady Revolutionaries lost their opening match for the World Cup 92 qualifiers. They were rusty as fuck and there was literally no chemistry in the linkup whatsoever. Everyone looked like they were just trying to do their own thing instead of working together with the rest of the girls to actually put together a decent match, and we all know how well that turned out. The Cordian team literally ran circles around our own players. I mean, we are talking about a team where the same 11 players play all of the matches for their national team here! Like there isn’t a pool of players that the Cordian FA or their manager chooses from; it’s always the same 11 guys and girls week in and week out! And they just outplayed the bloody Women’s World Cup champions! If that isn’t truly indicative of how lousy a footballing nation Abanhfleft actually is then I don’t even know what is anymore!

And then after a disappointing and fruitless trip to Atlantian Oceania, it was Abanhfleft’s turn to play hosts to another World Cup qualifier. This time, the Lady Revolutionaries were going up against some place called New South Yukon. Can’t say that I’m overly familiar with the place, just that it took part in the 79th Baptism of Fire and it may or may not have some sort of diplomatic relationship with this place called New Eestiball. Yeah, the same place that recruited bench players from other countries and made them play for New Eestiball in the Rugby Union World Cup. Yeah, it was a big controversy when New Eestiball did the thing with the Fleftic rugby union team in Baggieland. For more information on that, visit Graham O’Doherty’s The Rugby Rundown. It’s not even a proper plug because it’s just another part of this damn website and not another website altogether but hey, I’m sure Mr. Graham will accept all the traffic that he can get. Wouldn’t hurt me either because it’s partly how I get paid for writing these alarmist and very knee-jerk reactions.

But you know what, if we’re still talking of knee-jerk reactions, I think that that defeat against the Cordian Isles served as some sort of wake-up call, not just to the gals but also to Kate Bernanos herself, that everyone is only as good as their last game. Yeah, sure, this was the team and the manager that beat HUElavia for the Jenna Raven Cup, but what good is that going to do when they can’t even come together to do well in the World Cup qualifiers? The Jenna Raven Cup victory was supposed to be the first step in returning Abanhfleft to footballing relevance, but losing 3-1 to the Cordians is definitely at least one step back from that goal, maybe even two. From what I heard in the news, Kate Bernanos organized some sort of “intensive training regimen” when the ladies got back to Abanhfleft in preparation for the second qualifier against New South Yukon, probably as a way to accelerate the gelling process that the girls had gone through back in the JRC. They had to really accelerate it because they only had three days before they had to play again, this time at the Szymborski Stadium in Reyes, Dorfdifving Province.

And you know what? I think that “intensive training regimen” stuff actually worked out because the Lady Revolutionaries smashed New South Yukon, and by smashed I mean smashed to pieces. New South Yukon didn’t even know what hit them until it was too late. It was as if all of the frustrations that had been built up during our defeat to the Cordian Isles got unleashed in this game, and New South Yukon were just the ones unfortunate enough to be in the way when it happened. But on the other hand, this is perhaps the first time in a long time that I’ve actually seen an Abanhfleft team smash their opposition to smithereens without giving up a truckload of goals at the end. Remember those times when the Lady Revolutionaries were absolutely dominant against Soldera in the Jenna Raven Cup, but they just kept giving the Solderans ways to come back into the game? Yeah, I try to forget about those times too, but sometimes the mind just won’t let you forget.

So that is my very generalized and very summarized breakdown of Abanhfleft’s first two qualifiers for the 92nd World Cup. After this, we’ll be back to club football once again, whether you’re a guy or a girl or a pony or a sentient broomstick. The next international window will see Abanhfleft go up against Sevendia in an World Cup qualifier, and then the women’s team will play a friendly match against the Pridnestrovian women’s team because why not? It’s not like the Lady Revolutionaries have got anything better to do on their bye day in the qualifiers. Anyway, that’s all that there is from me now. If you’ve got any comments or thoughts about the games against the Cordian Isles and New South Yukon then feel free to leave them down below. Until then, I’ve been the Man from Markovsky, back to being disappointed in my country once again.
