Twin Pines Diplomatic Complex
Territory of the West Islands
Confederate States of Anagonia
It would be perhaps a day or two before the dignitaries would arrive. Ambassador Callan Ford was a retired Confederate States Marine and a perfectionist when it came to maintaining presentation. After his retirement some five years ago, the Department of the Confederate States had offered him a diplomatic position as the head of facility inspections. His approach to solving issues across many of the facilities utilized for diplomatic functions had garnered the attention of many higher-ups in the government and as such, within a year of being in the position, he had been granted his own facility on the West Islands. It was here that more prestigious and important functions were to be held; mediations, negotiations, and such. Callan had displayed an aptitude for handling such functions as well, often brokering many a trade treaty that ended up profiting the Confederacy.
This event was different. President Canisilus had contacted Callan a week ago, informing him that his diplomatic complex would play host to a very important mediation between two nations, with a probable third attending. He had ushered his staff for the preparations, having been notified well in advance of the probability of the function transpiring. As far as things had settled, and as far as Callan knew, the event would take place tomorrow. He, Callan, would host it as Chief Mediator. It was hoped through the events of this mediation that a peace agreement of sorts would be reached and that two notorious enemies would finally shake hands and work on a roadmap towards cooperation. If it all went swimmingly well, Ambassador Ford was looking forward to not only a new shiny pin on his resume but an advancement as well.
The Diplomatic Complex was quite modern. It had three buildings on the grounds of the facility; the main forum building for diplomatic functions, a hotel unit that included all the necessary amenities being so far from home, and a smaller building that acted as Callan's headquarters. The West Islands airport was not but ten miles away and it wouldn't be a hassle to ferry the representatives from there to here. They would arrive in short order, escorted to their rooms, where the following day after settling in the functions would commence. It was all planned, all looked over, and the facility had been cleaned top to bottom. Not everything went to plan, Callan knew, but diplomatic functions rarely went out of order. He hoped this occasion would be no different.
