Dear Princeps Julia,
Both our nations can't survive without each other, east and west. Yet we haven't really gotten to know each other. I want to fix that. Maybe we could go out for lunch or coffee and get to know each other. Discuss ways to bring our nations together economically, militarily, and other ways
Sincerely, Jaguar Aquilion Emperor of Romanic Imperium

“Good day Captain Rich” said Sergeant Mack Keeths. “At ease Sergeant.” The captain said as he passed Mack in the hallway, on his way to room 8G. Two guards stood at the doorway and after a quick ID check the Captain made his way in. Inside was a single door with a keycard lock with a black 4 on top. Inside that was a small office like room with 3 men in black suits and another 2 in navy blue tactical combat armor with M-16s inside. On the west wall was a one-way window and a door, inside was a woman tied to a chair with two Krieg Cadians a Galapagos officer and a camera inside.
“Sir,” said one of the men in a black suit turning to Rich, “the tape is almost ready to be sent to Krieg. We are almost done fully checking to make sure no marks that can lead back to us are shown in the video and will be shipping it soon.”
“Great” said the Captain, “how are the negotiations between Krieg and Awesome Imperium going?”
“Sadly sir it has not been going well as any media should have already told you. If I may ask why did we kidnap the princess in the first place?”
“Well Lieutenant, it is a very complicated result of geopolitics at its work but to simplify Krieg has had a tough time trying to keep their sovereignty from Allanea who would defeat Krieg relatively easily in a full scale war. We hoped that maybe we could force Awesome Imperium to kick out Allanea’s troops to buy Krieg time to fortify however that was a failure. There is also the Romanic Awesome union which while it may look slightly stable is about as stable as post-occupation Galapagos and the fascist regime that ran it. As for us, what we stand to gain is still unknown.”

URS Twilight, 6th Fleet, North Sea
6/XX/20XX - 15:23
"The Interdiction and Reliant report no closing threats from the south as of yet. Second ring confirms no incoming air or surface threats at the moment. CAPs have had no issue. Auxiliary and Amphibious formations report all is well. We're getting sporadic reports through some of the leading OTH systems on CG-41 that there appears to be Romanic air activity in the Channel and that it may be moving north, but distance and atmospheric interference is limiting the ability to determine whether these aircraft are on an intercept course with the fleet. SSK-137 and SSN-38 report that no Romanic surface or submarine forces are moving north. Reports from Satellite Operations suggest no major Romanic fleet movements at this time. IFC channels support this analysis."
Admiral Rao took the briefing from his N2, a Commander in charge of the staff responsibilities for intelligence and security of Rao's fleet. While Rao himself relegated direct command of the Twilight to a Commander and focused moreover on the strategic direction of the 6th Fleet, he also left the Twilight's command staff alone and let them run their carrier. Rao kept his own command staff aboard the Twilight and other integral surface vessels across the 6th Fleet. His intelligence officer, for instance, wasn't aboard the Twilight, for instance, but was rather deployed ten miles to the south aboard the URS Interdiction, one the 6th Fleet's destroyers, and was meeting in remotely.
Rao nodded to the younger man's image on his computer screen. "Thank you, Commander. What is your personal read of the situation?"
The officer on the computer screen nodded, he was used to Admiral Rao asking for opinions from his command staff. Over the last couple years, Rao had gathered a team of intelligent and competent officers to fill out his staff, sometimes fighting with the other Fleets or with Fleet Command for some of their talent. The 6th Fleet was the only full combat fleet in the Expeditionary Command of the GRCS, and as a result was one of the most combat capable and combat-tested. When Rao was given command of the 6th, the admiral had made sure that his advisors were just as competent as he was, and just as capable as the 6th Fleet was.
"Recommend we hold position, Admiral," the intelligence officer advised, "Romanic naval activity suggests no intention of directly attacking Remnant or allied assets as of now. Follow-on IFC assets in the form of Marasalian, Roman, and Dorian naval units are expected to arrive and reinforce current Remnant and Marasalian units. Follow-on Remnant assets in the form of 1st Naval Task Group under Admiral Guo Lam and elements of the 91st Marine Infantry Division from 5th Army expected to arrive shortly after to reinforce fleet presence."
"The 91st... Those are Hardpan Tran's Marines, aren't they?"
The N2 couldn't hide his smile completely, "General Raharjo Tran commands the 5th Army, yes, sir."
Raharjo Tran was Sinican Canaamese by birth, and not nearly as religious, but was otherwise in a similar position as Rao: a highly competent minority commander who had taken over the Remnant 5th Army during the regime change. He had seen combat, first as a soldier during the Canaamese civil war, and later as a commanding officer when Zhangua invaded Canaam and the URA subsequently intervened. The 5th Army had been the bulk of the ground troops during that intervention, so it was ironic that a Sinican Canaamese officer now led them. But the 5th was one of the most storied formations in Remnant history. The 5th's divisions had the most unit citations, medals, and famed leaders in the Remnant Army. That General Tran, a Sinican in a Roskian-dominated country could be appointed to command this army was a testament to his talents. That the 91st Division would be arriving as an amphibious force was a boon.
"That is fortuitous, Commander. Thank you for your assessment. Dismissed."
The Commander nodded and thanked the Admiral. He then gave the Unification salute, the GRCS-approved official rank response, a closed right fist over the left side of the chest, which the Admiral returned. The Commander then gave a Sinican-inspired bow, which Rao also returned, and then the Commander ended the call.
The intelligence briefing over, Rao felt more confident in his next course of action. He turned to the communications officer aboard the CIC Rao was standing in, "Please open channels across UHF and VHF open channels."
"Aye, Admiral. Broadcasting."
Rao nodded, stepped around to pick up the microphone, and pressed the transmit button as he began to speak in Sinican-accented Remnant Creole:
"Attention Romanic Imperium Naval Forces in the English Channel. Attention Romanic Imperium Naval Forces in the English Channel. This is the naval forces of the Greater Remnant Cooperation Sphere. The GRCS has observed your unlawful and expansionist invasion of the southern British Isles and has observed your unlawful blockage of naval lanes in violation of the concept of freedom of navigation. Romanic Imperium Naval Forces, you are trapped and surrounded. We request that you surrender. Land all aircraft, surface all submarines, and that your fleet takes on parade position in anticipation of being detained. I repeat, the military forces of the GRCS demand that the naval forces of the Romanic Imperium within the English Channel surrender. If you resist, it will be taken as an act of open war. Romanic Imperium naval forces, respond and comply.
Rao let go of the transmit button and sat the microphone down. He looked around the CIC at the mix of faces watching him.
All he saw was professional determination staring back.

Defensor Carrier Strike Group, Marasalian Naval Security Forces

A frantic phone call from the Protetor demonstrated the blindside this came with. This was a notable shift in the engagement pattern that Marasalia was attempting to employ, but this was not within itself an issue. In fact, it gave the respective admirals a little bit more room.
As the two carrier groups previously involved with Phenyzia moved closer to theatre, new commands came from Marasalia: The three carrier groups would form an ad hoc command known as the North Atlantic Command, placed under the command of Vice Admiral Jacó Fernandes, one of Marasalia's highest decorated admirals. With them, three Amphibious Warfare Expeditionary Groups, with 3 total LHAs, another 72 escorts, and 2 LSDs, a significant advancement in the combat capability to the 3 existing carrier groups moving into theatre already. The command also would have submarine units attached to it, but it was not yet clear which units would be attached.
But in the mean time, the command would begin harrassment while trying to keep the location of the carriers vague. A single 5th generation fighter from the deck of the Defensor was chosen to take this role.
5th generation fighters were by no means undetectable, but the detection envelope for them was incredibly small to surface based radar, and even smaller still when they followed the ocean. And that's what this lone fighter was gonna do. To keep the advantage to which the stealth design offered, the fighter was only carrying internally mounted weapons, to which it had 4 bays which could each in theory hold two missiles, but of course this depended on the missile.
This fighter, piloted by Lieutenant Téo Machado, held a rather simple armament: 6 Hypersonic Anti-Shipping Missiles and two short range anti-aircraft missiles, that could be used as anti-shipping missiles in worst case scenarios, though the fighter would not get close enough to a ship for this to be a feasible option. The hypersonic missiles aboard were significantly shorter ranged than the full variant that was in the vertical launch systems on the escorts of the group. These had a maximum range of roughly 60 nautical miles, still technically outside the range of ground-based radar detection of a low flying craft. And while the smaller missile had a shorter range and was a bit slower, it still performed its entire 60km flight in just 34 seconds, and its detection range to impact likely took less than 12 seconds.
While these weapons were all well and good, there was a plan to them. Instead of just randomly firing at these ships who technically had not done anything to Marasalia, it is just an offensive armament in the event that the aircraft is somehow spotted and engaged. It will dump its hypersonic missiles into the endless targets which are in the channel for some reason, and then flee in a series of complicated directions to throw off followers and limit detection of the carrier. It will also come in a direction that is not in a straight line from the carrier, looking to once again lead Roman Imperium search aircraft on a wild goose chase, and also limiting the reasonability of them attempting to search in other directions.
The electromagnetic catapult for the carrier locked into place, and Machado maneuvered his plane onto it. He watched the deck crew intently, mentally preparing himself for another launch. The flight instructor made his launch movement, and Machado felt the surge of G forces as his plane was launched into the air. An easy mission, don't get caught and if you do, don't die. he mused.
