the US school system can hardly be said to provide an education. once the smart kids are filtered out to advanced and AP classes, it's just daycare for everyone else. maybe private schools are better.

but the average american high school graduate reads at about an 8th grade level.

we're talking about oversocialized narcissists with way too much time on their hands. the main reason they won't get guns is because guns are what icky trump supporters have.
usually they just complain that the kids figit in class too much and convince dumb parents to put them on adderrall.

Deliberately failing to understand straightforward posts is so cool and funny, you should do it more often.

If a person carrying a gun is what you consider "education" then I'm sorry. If it isn't then what could your post possibly mean?

The Education system is tolled to make factory workers for non existent factory jobs. Only in the last 10-20 years it has started to turn away from making factory workers and go more towards modern skills.

This is untrue. The majority of American adults are now below a 6th grade literacy level.

What, indeed, could it possibly mean? Vassenor asked a question about a proposal for making schools safer and how it would be funded, Paddy responded saying that teachers so inclined would pay the costs themselves, and I made a comment about chronic underfunding of schools in America. Could I possibly have been talking about the funding of the education system? We may never know.

I suppose you could have, but expecting people to follow you on your hairbrained tangent is a tad bit silly. Well education funding as a whole isn't the topic here, so maybe we can get back on that?

Looks like the lower 48 has a wolf population of just under 8000. Not exactly a huge impact on deer population but this is a bit of a derail. Right now deer hunting is absolutely essential but that's only because we've already fucked up the ecology of our country.

Huh, TIL. I don't live in an area that's meant to have actual wolves in it, so I didn't realize the situation was so bad.

We have mountain lions, though, and the people that lived here before the US came along still hunted deer. Humans have pretty much always been involved in our ecologies up until very recently.

nah, deer hunting will always be essential because deer and the environment they lived in developed in a context in which humans hunted them.

What would raising the age do? And why specifically semi-automatic rifles?

Yeah that'd cause a near open revolt on the right lol. Trump going after bumpstocks, an item barely anyone owned or even knew about, caused vast outrage and is still used by gun rights advocates to attack the GOP to this day as traitors. Openly depriving millions of their rights would cause another Cincinnati Revolt.

You mean he wouldn't have been able to buy a semi-automatic rifle, which are not the only guns or even the only rifles.

He was in the building for almost an hour. He could have used a fucking musket and still killed 19 people, that's just what happens when the cops sit outside and do nothing.
