Spring Beach Bash isn't back because this is the first of its kind. Last year's event was called Summer Beach Bash. :P

Still the same event, just a light rebrand shuffling of dates around to make space for something else later on

Spring Beach Bash, starting...now!

Beach Bash trophy points have officially kicked off, and now it's up to the teams to battle it out to victory with 175 beachgoers all in the running. The better question is: Where do you start?! Let's check out what Day 1 looks like...

    1. Message In a Bottle and the Choose Your Own Adventure begin right away––for Message In a Bottle you get 10 points for your first 5 letters of appreciation, then 1 point for every letter after that, plus you get to say nice things about someone :)

    2. The fantastical Treasure Hunt will begin today as soon as the amazing Icarus posts your first clue to begin you on your quest - happy hunting!

    3. R/D Wargames also begin at the next minor update today, aka at 12:00 PM EDT (5:00 PM UTC), as teams battle for control of 30 regions in total (including their own 10 home regions). Did I mention you get bonuses for most regions controlled at one time and for the largest updating force in a single update?

    4. The wonderful Sarah is hosting two games of Trivia tomorrow, one at 11:00 AM EDT (4:00 PM UTC) and another at 9:00 PM EDT (2:00 AM UTC). You should be there because there will be points!

    5. (Oh my god, there's more) The Arcade will be hosting its first (roughly) 24 hour round of IO games starting with Slither.io

    6. Finally, we're having our first double-feature Movie Nights tomorrow! We start by watching Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001 - yes, the Disney one) at 9:30 AM EDT (2:30 PM UTC) for a morning viewing and at 7:00 PM EDT (12:00 AM UTC) for an evening viewing

AND, of course, submissions for the Flag Competition and Poetry Contest remain open! Okay, I swear, that's it (for now)

Teams also selected their Team Leaders to guide them to victory by driving team participation and coordinating strategies on beating other teams. This year's leaders have risen from the sea:

    Dancing Dolphins - Tim
    Jumping Jellyfish - SkyGreen
    Sassy Sea Turtles - Makasta

Sound like fun? It's not too late to join!

Day 1 - Points Update

At the end of Day 1, it seems teams have begun to feel one another out and lean into event-specific strategies as their way to the Beach Bash trophy.

- The Dancing Dolphins went hard in team turnout for the first 24 IO round and trivia sessions, along with positively soaring through the Treasure Hunt giving them a confident position in the running

- The Jumping Jellyfish dominated minor update in the R/D Wargames by conquering 9 other team regions and tidied up more points with some respectable trivia/IO turnouts

- Finally, the Sassy Sea Turtles were strong in trivia but otherwise fairly quiet through the day...until squeaking out last minute points in Message In a Bottle to place them ahead of the Jellyfish

Current Scoreboard:
1. Dancing Dolphins - 215 points
2. Sassy Sea Turtles - 130 points
3. Jumping Jellyfish - 115 points

What comes tomorrow? Our first day was incredibly busy so tomorrow will be less chaotic with time to explore events at your leisure:

- The next 24 hour IO game round has been posted down in The Arcade with Tetr.io (Blitz mode) for all the tetris lovers that fill NS

- Sarah will be hosting a game or two of Monopoly tomorrow at 1 PM EDT for the board game enthusiasts who also like 5 points for participating

- Tomorrow is the last full day of submissions for Poetry Contest and Flag Competition, which not only have high point rewards but also give points simply for participating!

- And Message In a Bottle remains open for 10 points on your first 5 messages with 1 point for every after (and for onsite, anonymous submissions)

Day 2 - Points Update

Hmm...interesting...very interesting. Today the points divisions between teams became much more clear as the Dolphins' lead only grew:

- Dancing Dolphins went hard again for excellent turnouts in the arcade and some extra encouraging and kind messages in Message In a Bottle

- Sassy Sea Turtles made a stab at minor (and this major! ) for a lead in the R/D Wargames while pushing Flag and Poetry submissions

- Jumping Jellyfish snagged an IO win with additional points from game turnouts in Monopoly and pressed on through the Treasure Hunt

Current Scoreboard:
1. Dancing Dolphins - 380 points
2. Sassy Sea Turtles - 220 points
3. Jumping Jellyfish - 190 points

What comes tomorrow? Our first day was incredibly busy so tomorrow will be less chaotic with time to explore events at your leisure:

- The next 24 hour IO game round has been posted down in The Arcade with Zombs.io

- Submissions for the Flag Competition AND Poetry Contest will be closed to begin voting at 2:00 PM EDT by the amazing Sarah

- Sarah will also be hosting another round of Trivia just an hour before that at 1:00 PM EDT plus some Monopoly at 9:00 PM EDT

- And the wonderful Icarus is hosting Gartic Phone at 4:00 PM EDT for even more games!

- Then tomorrow for our 2nd Movie Night we'll be watching Finding Nemo with a morning showing at 9:30 AM EDT and then an evening showing at 8:00 PM EDT
