I would suppose a version of it exists in the wizarding world? Idk about the stock market or a stock exchange, but I'd imagine shareholding definitely exists since the old-money families like the Malfoys had to be able to perpetuate inter-generational wealth somehow, and they had to be getting their passive income from some source, its all speculation though

Thanks for editing his lineage to be from the Cyrille Lestrange line, the app is ACCEPTED and added to the Dramatis Personae :)

Nope, not in my view anyways. Your character can be on whichever side you prefer :)

I suppose so, though it would be more relevant in America than in Britain, considering how medieval and feudal British wizarding society seemed to be in the original HP series. My own character has a family background of corporate industrialists, akin to the Vanderbilt, Astor, and Morgans of 1900s America. Or probably similar to Bill Gates.

Character Type (Student/Staff): Student
Name of Character: Aleister Roderick
Sex: Male
Physical Appearance:
Image
Place of Birth: London, United Kingdom
Date of Birth: October 30, 2022
Age: 17
Year: Year 7
Hogwarts House: Slytherin
Blood Status: Half-blood
Loyalty/Allegiance: Neutral, leaning towards supporting The Order, albeit not out of ideological fervour
Leadership Roles: 7th Year Slytherin Male Prefect
Character Biography: Aleister was born into a family of wealth—his mother bearing from a prestigious ancient Pureblood House which had left her as its sole inheritor after her relatives were wiped during the Wizarding Wars, and his father an economically-savvy Muggleborn who spent as much time in the Muggle world as he did the magical one. Together, the two had exploited the post-war chaos of the war against Voldemort, using the former's connections and the latter's sizeable fortune in the muggle world to buy up and invest in reconstruction efforts. Soon enough, the Rodericks had built up an economic empire in the Wizarding World, with a share of ownership in most major businesses.

Aleister was treated rather coldly in their wealthy childhood—the only real interactions from either parent being educational as well as disciplinary. He grew up rather cold, some might even say sociopathic, though whether this was directly caused by parental neglect or by natural disposition was up in the air. He spent most of his time reading, writing and studying, growing quite an acumen for history, economics and, strangely enough, creative writing, longing for social interaction. The only real close relationship he had was with her much cheerier young sister Meg, the two, despite rather contrasting personalities, at the hip for most of their childhoods.

Upon entering Hogwarts, Aleister initially struggled in making friends, mostly keeping to himself while others stayed away from him for his rather cold persona. Yet via observing others and learning from his own more outgoing sister, he learned how to become more appealing. He learned how to make people laugh and smile, he learned when to say things and how to say things in a way that appealed to different people, and he learned how to treat people and make them think he was on their side. A facade was born, separate from the cold, distant Roderick of the past; one based around a sociable, amicable and benevolent young man known as Aleister, who was always on your side. It was also during this time that he learnt a rather interesting lesson—Purebloods, particularly privileged purebloods, tended to be far easier to manipulate than educated muggles.

With these new skills and his father's business-orientated worldview at the forefront of his mind, Aleister built up a network all over the school over the years, establishing contacts at every level of education on every side, from Pureblood to Muggleborn, from 1st year to 7th year. He also used his family's large fortune, more specifically his own significantly large allowance, to his advantage—inviting "friends" from across the school to secretive get-togethers and dinner parties paid for by his truly. Sometimes it'd be a secluded party commemorating the civil progress of Wizarding Society, other times it'd be a secretive dinner celebrating the glorious past that Britain once knew. Of course, Muggle-borns knew that Aleister was just gaining the trust of the Purebloods for the sake of pulling the rug under them later, and Purebloods knew that Aleister was simply playing with the Muggle-borns, mocking them behind their backs.

He'd give gifts, lend money, and pay for a dorm's dinner night out at Hogsmeade. Of course, all of this was particularly expensive, and ultimately most attending or receiving would eventually want to pay Roderick back. Aleister would, of course, laugh them off, say that they didn't owe him. But, annoyingly enough, most would insist that, for being such a good friend/to keep up their honour/to not be in his debt/to be rid of him, they had to pay him back. Aleister, reluctantly, would accept, they could pay him later—either by coin or perhaps by a favour later down the line. That is how Aleister unofficially became Hogwarts' own money lender and acquisition agent—if you needed some coin for a special project, or perhaps you need something acquired for such a project, Aleister would be happy to lend you some coin, or track down said "something" and pay for it out of his own pocket. Of course, you didn't have to pay him back, but that'd be rather rude, wouldn't it?

Because Aleister's always here for you—a pal to drink with, a shoulder to cry on. You can trust in him, everyone can, because Aleister's on your side, everyone's side, especially now that he's a Prefect.

In recent years, Aleister's always been quite efficient with his theory, studies and papers, yet he has found particular efficacy and joy when it comes to apparition, even more so than many adult wizards, to the point that he managed to pass his apparition test with flying colours, and gain a special apparition license at only the age of 15.

Be warned, I'm rather sleepy, so the application might not make any sense, particularly the bio.

If it does, indeed, make no sense, I'd like to apologise in advance. I sort of went off the deep end towards the end there.

Character Type: Student
Name of Character: Salma bint Ziyad al-Shafiq al-Rashidi, commonly known as Salma Shafiq (سلمى شفيق)
Sex: F

Physical Appearance:
Image

Place of Birth: Mavi Nazar Büyülü Revir ve Hastane Hospital, İzmir, Turkey
Date of Birth: 26th August
Age: 15
Year: 5th Year
Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw
Blood Status: Pureblood
Loyalty/Allegiance: The Order
Leadership Role: Female Ravenclaw Prefect, 5th Year

Character Biography: One of Britain's so-called Sacred Twenty Eight pureblood wizarding families, the Shafiq clan (الشفيق, al-Shafiq) is a prosperous and powerful family that traced their origins to 17th-century Rosetta (Rashid), Egypt. The Shafiqs had remained largely neutral during the first and second wizarding wars in Britain, and thus are able to come out of the conflicts relatively unscatched. The Shafiq patriarch, Amir Maulana Hussein, was an ardent supporter of Kingsley Shacklebolt's ministry and therefore received a lot of commission from his government, as part of the good graces for amending the relations between the Ministry and many pureblood families. The Shafiqs cherished their pureblood heritage, though not as radical as their other Sacred 28 counterparts, in part because they had also maintained Arabic culture which stressed diplomacy and discreet. Indeed, the Shafiqs were never aspirants to major Ministry positions ever since their ancestors's arrival in England three centuries ago. Every head of the Shafiq family is granted the title Amir (أمير), meaning leader of a clan, and sometimes Maulana (مولانا), denoting a learned scholar, for those particularly well-versed in Arabic magic.

The family's current heir Salma Shafiq was born to Amir Ziad ibn Hussein and his wife Merve Akdoğan, daughter of the former Turkish Minister of Magic. Ziad has acquired much fortune from his career in the Department of Magical Transportations after the resignation of Percy Weasley. In part, due to his corruption and cronyism, a new licensing scheme for Floo powders and even "Ministry-approved" portkeys which he contracted his own company, and partners, to do. The Department's revenues rised tenfold, all oblivious to Hermione Granger, which Ziad convinced will be good, drawing parallels to the Muggle Department of Transportation's systems. At the peak of his career as Head of Department, Ziad Shafiq resigned with a Gringotts vault full of galleons, made a donation to Hogwarts and installed himself as a governor even before his daughter was of age to attend school. He was afterwards known as a major philantropist and businessman, which helped to improve the Shafiq family's image to the wizarding public.

The Shafiqs, as most pureblood families, joined suit in Isabella Selwyn's Order of Gaunt, if only for business purposes since most of their clients were members. Even if Ziad Shafiq does not care for the Order's stated purposes and goals, not all of his family share the same conviction. Ziad's brother Adnan was a known pureblood supremacist, even going as far as nearly detained in Azkaban, and in Ziad's eyes a burned to the family business. However it was his views that young Salma Shafiq, Ziad's only child, took to heart - though she shared her father's shrewd behavior in socializing, she fashioned herself a cabal of Order supporters in Hogwarts along with other secret Order members in the three houses.

Wand: 11 in. (27 cm) Ceylon ebony (Diospyros ebenum) and Phoenix feather, with a horse-leather handle embroidered with silver. Arabic scripts are sewn into the handle, which can glow at will.

Familiar: Sindibād (السندباد), a benevolent jinn. Jinns (genies) are supernatural spirits that can be found across North Africa, the Balkans, South Asia, and Middle East. Most jinns are wanderers with ambiguous intentions, though some had formed a colony with a system of government. They are capable of various feats, such as travelling very fast speeds, lifting heavy objects, and fighting other magical creatures. They cannot, however, grant wishes - contrary to popular opinion. Salma's jinn served as a companion and guardian, that was also supposedly to report to her father regarding her activities. However, with little persuasion, she swayed Sindibād to her side in her first year, becoming a much valuable asset for her.

Nice, world-building and backstory on the Shafiq family, I love it :)

The only real close relationship he had was with her much cheerier young sister Caroline, the two, despite rather contrasting personalities, at the hip for most of their childhoods.

It all looks good, Aleister's ACCEPTED :)

No worries, it made sense don't be so self-deprecating lol, he's a very interesting character and love the way you planned out his motivations and manipulations, don't worry about it :)

Character Type (Student/Staff): Student
Name of Character: Meghan "Meg" Roderick
Sex: Female
Physical Appearance:
Image
Place of Birth: London, United Kingdom
Date of Birth: October 30, 2023
Age (RP starts on 24 April 2039): 16
Year (if Student): 6th Year
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
Blood Status: Half-blood
Loyalty/Allegiance: Neutral, sympathetic to the Alliance
Leadership Roles: 6th Year Hufflepuff Prefect.
Character Biography: Where Aleister compensated for their rather frosty upbringing in the Roderick family by becoming secluded, Meghan, or "Meg" as she prefers people to refer to her, compensated by becoming sociable and outgoing. Like Aleister, Meg initially went to a private muggle school before going to Hogwarts, being taught "muggle" topics at school and with her father, while learning about the wizarding world and magic via private tutors and her mother at home. Unlike Aleister however, Meg was extremely sociable and active, making many circles of friends and avidly taking part in various activities. Yet she would always take time to spend time with her older brother, the two often spending time together reading books, writing their own stories. During their formative years, Meg would even manage to convince Aleister to join her in improv, acting and drama classes, courses in which both she and (surprisingly) Aleister excelled.

Upon entering Hogwarts, though saddened not to be in the same house as Aleister, Meg would nonetheless thrive, creating quite a large circle of friends. Soon enough, most in Hogwarts would know of Meg for her quirky attitude, and at times somewhat adorable naivety. Though, that wasn't to say that she was any less intelligent than her brother, as she thrived quite well in charms, particularly in moving objects. Unlike her brother, who saw only potential connections or debts, Meg simply wanted to make friends, hang out and generally have a good time.

Please tell me if something is incomplete, or if something ould be made better.
Character Type (Student/Staff): Staff
Name of Character: Leopold Ludwig Arlaryberg
Sex: Male
Physical Appearance (use a picture, an illustration, or a physical description): Imagine something like this
Image

Place of Birth: Kilmarnock, Scotland
Date of Birth: 18th of May 1957
Age (RP starts on 24 April 2039): 81 Years, 11 months, 6 days
Year (if Student): /
Hogwarts House (if Staff, specify alumnus House): Ravenclaw
Blood Status (Muggle-born/Half-Blood/Pure-Blood): Half-Blood
Loyalty/Allegiance (The Alliance/The Order) : [Hidden and Non-Member] The Alliance
This was partially due to his Muggel Mother which he appreciated very much, but also partially because of his father who was pretty liberal in that field. While at work he had many Pure-, Half-, and Muggel-blood colleagues which also broadened his views on Blod Status.
Leadership Roles (if you want your character to have a leadership position, check the "Dramatis Personae" in the next post down to see the available positions for students, teachers, and staff, the assignment of roles between players is at the discretion of the OPs, but this is for the purposes of expressing your interest): Professor of Herbology
Character Biography : Leopold L. Arlaryberg was born on the 18th of May 1955, to a Muggel Mother and a Wizard Father, being also a Half-Blood, it is rumoured that his Great-Great-Grandfather was from the Slughorn Line, but that is unconfirmed, in the town of Kilmarnock [Scotland]. From a young age, he was familiar with magic, as his father had practiced it around the house, his father was also a well-read man, and so he would have books around the house about a lot of different things, including Herbology. Although he was more interested in Magic, his Mother still urged him to go to a Muggel Primary School where he could learn all the basics of the Non-Magical world, but even then he still had to learn German at home because of his parents. Coming to Hogwarts he was an orderly student who liked to follow most rules, at least the ones which made sense to him, luckily for him, he never got into too much trouble. His favourite subject was Herbology, closely followed by Astronomy, and it showed as he reached an O in Herbology, and an O in Astronomy [though this might have been luck], he reached a P in History of Magic but mostly had A's and EE's in both O.W.L's, and N.E.W.T.'s. When he graduated he became a worker in the Ministries of Magics Ministry of Herbology, where he worked for many years, also finding his wife in it. She is from the Slughorn Line her name being Teophania Arlaryberg [formerly: Teophania Slughorn], with which he has a son, called Henry Daniel Arlaryberg who works in the Ministry of Magic, in the Department of Magical Transportation, within the office of the Apparition Test Centre. He loves working as a instructor to teach students how to apparate. But when he heard that a job opened up at Hogwarts, he started to apply, to get back to his old school where he once learned what he loved, and where he could teach his knowledge to the next generation. He is known to be more on a passive and quiet level so as to not stir up conflict, which he does not tolerate at all. His view on the Civil Conflict is the same which he views as senseless and foolish, his motto when teaching is "When one teaches, then he does so without his ideology or views, he teaches to teach.", but when the students in his class start getting openly political when he can actively notice it, then he will, of course, try to find any reason to take the points from their house, even from his former house Ravenclaw. Though he does so less frequently with people which support The Alliance. Because of that he sometimes can seem cold and ruthless, but he would rather have a quiet and efficient class, than a class full of arguing and loud students.

Character Type: Retired Auror, Member of the Wizengamot
Name of Character: Dionysus Fleming
Sex: Male
Physical Appearance: Dionysus is an older man with a snow-white beard and hair.
Place of Birth: London, England
Date of Birth: March 15, 1966
Age: 74
Hogwarts House: Alumnus of House Gryffindor
Blood Status: Pure-blood
Loyalty/Allegiance: Dionysus is a known card-carrying member of the Alliance that strongly backs Minister Douglas– and, in fact, campaigned for him and Hermione Granger.
Leadership Role: Member of the Wizengamot
Character Biography:

Dionysus Fleming is a known member of the Alliance, a former Auror, and a Gryffindor currently serving as a member of the Wizengamot. Dionysus is a close friend of Hogwarts librarian Sinestra Hopkins-Jones and has been labeled a blood traitor due to his “radical” stances. Some have accused him of being the Wizarding World’s version of Thaddeus Stevens or Edwin Stanton, accusations that he has proudly embraced. Fleming is known for being a hard-headed, cantankerous man with an agenda, and this is true. His agenda is equality and freedom for all. He is also deeply religious, having “found God” during his years as an Auror.

Dionysus has an aptitude for fending off attacks, both verbal and physical. A former Auror, he knows how to use his wand, and he’s not afraid to do so. While on the campaign trail in support of Aubrey Douglas, he was attacked by anonymously-published pamphlets that accused him of being a Judas to the cause of freedom, citing his blood purity status. His response was this:

"I am a pure-blood, and for acknowledging this, I have been labeled a Judas. Tell me, good people, if I have played the Judas, who has been my Christ? Was it Lord Voldemort? Was it the Gaunt family? Was it the Sacred Twenty-Eight? These are the people that stop and compare themselves to the Savior. If you will stand with us and the cause of equality, good people, I will not prove myself a Judas, but rather an Elijah! And I foretell the coming of peace and prosperity to our home, our Promised Land!"

His statement calmed those the feared his blood purity had any effect on his views, but moderates felt alienated by him. He was asked to stay off the campaign trail, but he did not, opting to do smaller events in more controlled areas on Douglas’s behalf. Dionysus is active in various groups advocating the acceptance of thes likes of the Merfolk, Centaurs, Goblins, and other non-human magical creatures. He has been successfully painted as a radical by many in the press, and his stances have resulted in his entire family being named “blood traitors” by the Order and others. Dionysus believes that any concern about blood is nonsense and pays them no mind, instead embracing the name “radical.”

Dionysus is a close friend of Sinestra Hopkins-Jones, having dated her during their final years at Hogwarts. The two were expected to marry the moment that they graduated, but ultimately they broke their relationship off. Dionysus’s lifelong dream was to be an Auror, and Sinestra could not stand the idea of losing someone that she had planned her life with. Dionysus never moved on (Sinestra didn’t either), remaining a lifelong bachelor.

Dionysus retired from being an Auror in 2035, having been a full member of the Ministry’s Auror office since 1990 (a total of 45 years). When Harry Potter began attending Hogwarts in 1991, he (despite Sinestra’s opposition to it) kept an eye on the papers for anything odd that might be taking place at the school. It was his watchful eye that landed him in the Order of the Phoenix in mid-July 1995. He was one of the few Ministry wizards to join the Order, largely because he found Dumbledore and Potter to be much more trustworthy than Cornelius Fudge. Working under Kingsley Shacklebolt, he helped protect the Prophecy and led missions to “capture” Sirius Black until his death at the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. He was absent from the Battle due to dragon pox, but he was present for the Battle of the Lightning-Struck Tower, having been tortured with the spell Crucio until Tonks came to his rescue. The death of Dumbledore shook him greatly, and he redoubled his efforts as a double agent for the Order.

During the events of the Half-blood Prince, Dionysus publicly shared that he was a member of the Order of the Phoenix and had been for months. Rather than being demoted, Minister Rufus Scrimgeour attempted to promote him to a Deputy Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement under Amelia Bones. He refused, citing that he would like to balance his duties between the Order of the Phoenix and the Ministry. Usually, he took on missions that allowed him the multitask. His true loyalty was to Dumbledore rather than the Ministry as he feared that it was almost entirely compromised. After attending the Weasley wedding and defending the Burrow that August, Dionysus went into hiding, working with Sinestra Hopkins-Jones and others on various missions on the Order’s behalf. He was on one such mission with his cousin Johann during the Battle of Hogwarts, attempting to defend a group of Muggleborns in London.

After the war, Fleming returned to his post as an Auror, briefly serving as the Acting Head of the Auror Office for three months until he devoted himself to his work on the Wizengamot.

Character Type (Student/Staff):
Name of Character: Lucius "Lux" Galilee
Sex: Male
Physical Appearance (use a picture, an illustration, or a physical description): Lucius Galilee, as a student, often would be seen wearing his school uniform. However, he has made one notable modification, he wears a bow tie instead of a straight one. He has thick, dark brown hair that usually is fine in the mornings, but later in the day is often disordered. He has thick horn-rimmed glasses and is slightly overweight.
Place of Birth: Amagh
Date of Birth: 13 December 2023
Age (RP starts on 24 April 2039):
Year (if Student): 5th
Hogwarts House (if Staff, specify alumnus House): Ravenclaw
Blood Status (Muggle-born/Half-Blood/Pure-Blood): Pure
Loyalty/Allegiance (The Alliance/The Order) (specify if your character is a member of that organization, or a non-member sympathetic to its aims): Lux Galilee in many ways is a "man in the middle." He is indifferent to the causes of both and often vacillates between the two of them. He dislikes the Order, but is suspicious of the Alliance and distrusting of its leadership and worries it might be overreaching.
Leadership Roles (if you want your character to have a leadership position, check the "Dramatis Personae" in the next post down to see the available positions for students, teachers, and staff, the assignment of roles between players is at the discretion of the OPs, but this is for the purposes of expressing your interest): Ravenclaw male prefect.
Character Biography (do make this detailed, certainly at least 5 lines, because it will also serve as a substitute for an RP sample, go into your character's motivation, their ideology, their background, their personality, most importantly their thoughts on this wizarding world and the brewing conflict therein):

Lux Galilee was born in Amagh and was pure blood or nearly pure blood and grew up in a wealthy wizarding family. He had key relationships in his parents, grandparents, and an uncle who helped him.
His father was a reactionary pure-blood supremacist. He did not think that only purebloods had talent, but believed that expanding magic to others could be extremely harmful. He felt the world was changing too quickly and that some were destined for magic and some were not. His mother's views were somewhat progressive and in favor of expanding access to magic to muggle-born and others. His grandmother was a low-level official in the ministry of magic's law enforcement as was his grandfather on his mother's side, while his father's side mostly was businesspeople. His Uncle Edmund was a talented and powerful wizard and widely regarded as a very intelligent and educated man of potentially great power. He educated him on magical ability and let him experiment with powers from an early age, as had his grandmother. His grandfather and parents were more protective and usually either kept it simple or directed him in multiple directions.
His uncle gave him a lust for learning and his grandparents instilled in him a strong respect for laws while his parents made him often a man in the middle between both causes. He regularly found himself resolving disputes between family members and became inspired to become a judge at a young age. He spent many days with his nose in a book or meditating. He was heavily inspired by the works of Marcus Aurelius, wisdom, courage, justice, and fortitude became his watchwords.
When he enrolled in Hogwarts his father wanted him to enroll in Slytherin, his mother thought Hufflepuff, his uncle encouraged him to enroll in Ravenclaw. His grandparents encouraged him to make his own decision, although said all would help him in his ultimate goal.
The hat struggled with Lux, finding his desire to live harmoniously and pursue equity to be natural toward Hufflepuff, and his willingness to fight for the right was very Gryffindor, Slytherin the hat thought would be a good fit for his creative approach to problems and desire for influence, but ultimately decided on Ravenclaw when it realized he came to all of these through intellectualization of the matter, and not through anything else.
Lux did well academically, but often deviated from the rules as established, his approach to magic was often on his own terms and he accidentally invented some spells on his own. He also excelled in wandless magic. He managed to become an Animagus as quickly as he discovered the possibility, taking the form of an Opossum, which greatly surprised him. Most of his peers believed him a rat, due to Opossums being new world creatures. He was licensed immediately and while in human form developed the ability to fake his own death quite compellingly, initially only under periods of extreme stress, but later using this to his advantage. He was promptly licensed as a man of law would be, although is misregistered as "a rat." He filed a formal complaint, but it was never resolved. His Animagus form enabled him to be a skilled climber and to hide in climbable objects. Lux regularly takes the form to move faster, to hide, and to sneak into places where he would usually not be welcomed.

Lux has IBS so often uses the nearest bathroom; this has put him in touch with Moaning Myrtle. His first interaction with her involved him involuntarily playing dead. She managed to revive him and found this weakness of his funny. However, he was used to being a bit of a misfit so after gaining more control he asked her if she'd like to talk. The two have actually become friends and he makes a point of visiting her at least biweekly.

Lux has shown a ton of loyalty to a number of Ministry of Magic officials, deliberately eager to please them or do work for them in an effort to pursue his goal of becoming a judge. He tries to avoid appearing too committed to either organization and this has mostly kept him above the fray, put also in the crossfire from time to time.
