Addressing Provocations

Normally Osiris does not engage with provocations, but the unusually large scale of the ongoing campaign warrants a brief response for the purposes of clarity for our allies.

Earlier today a lengthy manifesto decrying the legitimacy of the Osiris Fraternal Order was published gameside on the NationStates Forums & a as Dispatch.

The points made in the manifesto are wide ranging & eclectic, claiming that the OFO is illegitimate because it is raider, or because of lowered delegate endorsements, or because it is apparently controlled by an old raider cabal, or, most disturbingly, because we have been having technical difficulties with our offsite forum hosting. These oscillate from moot to disconcerting, & don't resemble a coherent argument.

There is no inciting incident to this campaign besides the arguments presented in this manifesto, save that it furthers the interests of the publisher, who has been baselessly defaming Osiris on other mediums for months as part of a semi-ironic injoke. It is our hope that our allies & fellow regions will understand that this is a single element of a larger attempt to groundlessly delegitimize Osiris, & not a legitimate movement exercised in good faith.

The article on astrology is total bollocks and where the author does cross the line over into astronomy, they still get it wrong.

There aren’t 88 constellations and the Zodiacal ones, there are 88 constellations total! Centaurus is a constellation which has stars greater than magnitude 6.5, not the constellation is greater than magnitude 6.5. Centaurus contains the closest bright star to our solar system - alpha Centauri, fourth brightest star in the sky. Proxima Centauri, part of the same system, is closest but is very faint. Centaurus is not an easy constellation to see, most of the stars are unexceptional and only the Pointers (alpha and beta Centauri) stand out.

They do get omega Centauri right, it is the biggest and brightest globular cluster visible in the night sky - absolutely stunning through a telescope. But the rest of the article is rubbish.

Astrology and Astronomy are two very different things, I agree. But the difference is blurred in particular when it comes to constellations, as both fields rely on them heavily.

Thank you for the correction. I personally know that there are only 88 constellations. The word "other" in that sentence is certainty my fault. I appreciate you for pointing that out to me. Regarding the rest of your statement: again, thank you for your opinion! While it isn't warranted to classify the entire article as "rubbish" solely because you disagree with the major contents of Astrology, you made some great points + and I enjoyed receiving your comment. <3

This displays a long-term pattern of hostility towards Osiris that will not go unpunished.

Therefore, TWP and Lazarus wish to reaffirm our commitment to Osiris’ defense, as spelled out in Article III of the Treaty of the Occident and of the Treaty of the Sun respectively, and will perform any further steps needed to ensure the stability of the legitimate Osiran government.

Furthermore, TWP and Lazarus will henceforth terminate all diplomatic and military relations with the League, by 1) withdrawing forum and gameside embassies, 2) recalling the respective ambassadors, and 3) ceasing to participate in any military operations hosted by the League and to invite them in operations hosted by either region.

Regardless, I find it amusing that the statement omits why The League chose to declare war and instead would have an unaware reader assuming there was a direct point A to point B line from the manifesto to the declaration. Granted, "we, a posse of griefers, senselessly destroyed a treaty ally of The League for kicks" kind of undermines the narrative you're trying to set, so I get it.

We wish the best to TWP and Lazarus despite this development. Otherwise, OFO delenda est.

The immediate need to pull on hypotheticals that have not and likely will not happen to justify your argument doesn't bode well. Traditionally irony doesn't depend upon something that "you [we] would 100% be claiming". Please, elaborate as to how we "tend to respond to these things" with preferably some form of idk, evidence or justification. Even if you assume your bogus argument is true, that we would react in that way if for example someone created a region called TL Delenda Est, that still wouldn't justify you in doing the same. If TL government claims oranges are actually purple that doesn't mean that the OFO is justified in claiming the Eiffel Tower is pink, its a nonsensical argument.
