Welcome to the third edition of Anaia’s regional association football championship!

Please read the following before posting

The CAFA Cup is Anaia’s Regional Championship for Association Football. It is open to nations in the Anaia Region, provided that they were a member of the region at the time this was posted.

To sign up, please post in this thread with your roster information. Sign-ups without a roster will not be accepted, and posting placeholders (i.e. “reserved for roster information”) will be looked at poorly.

Puppet Entries: If a user signs up with a nation that entered the previous CAFA, they may enter up to two nations, provided they were both in the Anaia region at the time that this post was created. In their signup/roster post, users must indicate that their second nation -- typically called a puppet -- as such. Undeclared puppets who do not comply with this rule may have all nations associated with their user removed from the tournament.

We play post-football, a term coined during World Cup 89 to put words to a horrible semifinal between Audioslavia and the Dragonflies, which ended 0-0 after 120 minutes, then all but one penalty was scored in the ensuing series. Post-football means no singing. No cheering. No scoring. Post-football is sideways passes, looking like the same, repetitive movements for minutes on end, but with tiny variations that at some point will get to you. It could be a counterattack, or a shot from distance, or a set piece. Post-football doesn't care if it takes 90 or 120 minutes, or more.

This team is all about containing their opponent, letting them make mistakes, and capitalising on those. Let the other guys get impatient, lose the ball, and immediately go for the counter attack. Yes, it's frustrating to play against, but you have to admit that there's a certain beauty to doing this near-flawlessly every single time. The Dragonflies aren't a very physical team, but can match almost every opponent in stamina (not so much power or speed, though. Typically only the wingers are pacy). Instead, they rely on tactics and patience. The team is also good enough to be in possession a lot and dictate the tempo, though they're not always creative enough to break down the opposing defence - for that, the Dragonflies have learned to be very, very good on counterattacks, set pieces, and a few patterns in open play. Given the experience most of these players have, it's hard to come up with something new they've never seen - and then do that well enough to reliably score. In order to beat us, you'll need to bring two (or more) of the following: power, speed, caution.

Basically, this team comes prepared, is patient, and keeps a cool head.

Numbers 1 to = typically start (but not always, feel free to choose your starters). That's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, X, and =.
Numbers 1-1= are typically selected as starters or subs (but not always, feel free to select some 23+-ers as subs or starters).
Numbers 20 and over are mostly there as emergency replacements, but can be part of the 23-man squad for some qualifiers. These are almost always younger players with a lot of promise.

The standard for this team. Five defenders, a defensive midfielder-slash-pivot, two wingers, an attacking midfielder-annex-second striker, and a pure finisher up front. In possession, one of the defenders can push up: this might be one of the fullbacks to provide width, but can also be one of the centrebacks, in which case the defensive midfielder makes way. The wingers will be wider or narrower based on the opposition, and the same determines how far the fullbacks will advance. In defence, the team becomes narrower, with the defensive midfielder playing spoiler to whoever is trying to find space between the Ko-orenite lines, and the wingers falling back to meet opposing fullbacks. The striker and attacking midfielder will almost always look for space to launch a counterattack.

SAVIGLIANE NATIONAL TEAM ROSTER

It's official - Tlanx-Nulzk Hal has gotten the Swans as far as they can. The two-time Galactico Manager of the Year agreed not to renew their contract after failing to qualify for a second consecutive World Cup, and while the legacy they'll leave on Savigliano football is enormous, it's universally agreed that they left at the right time. Now, another legendary manager has come to deliver Savigliane to the World Cup - and hopefully pick up some silverware at the Cup of Harmony and the CAFA along the way. Ichi Tuzzio hopes to break Ramsey's record by taking Savigliane where he took Buyan, Farfadillis, and Baker Park. The legendary Farfish champion has brought his own attacking style and an injection of confidence to the team - will he get immediate results? post-CoH update: he will not. Some basic information about Savigliane can be found in my first WCQ RP or my BoF/WCQ RP line. Essentially, the nation has been teleported to the NS world from an IRL equivalent and is still working through the fallout of that event.

Thanks to Farfadillis for generously providing the below character description of Tuzzio and Dandalleion:

Ichi had a very successful football career: he plied his trade in Farfadillis playing for Ferdullaele FC, then in Turori playing for Cednia Beach, before moving to Makosile in Vilita. He was consistently a very solid player for over a decade in the V-League. On the national front, he started for Farfadillis as CAM for many years, playing a big part in their first World Cup qualification and their first AOCAF Cup win, notably scoring the winner against Vilita in the semifinal, in a 3-1 to 4-3 comeback. He was a CAM that could score incredibly frequently, and had a fearsome long shot. He loves helping develop players with characteristics similar to him, as he did with Faragó rue Cazade at Farfadillis. He could be criticized for turning Faragó into a bit of a vanity project, but his development under Tuzzio was unprecedented. Shortly after his retirement, during the celebrations of Farfadillis second AOCAF Cup win, Ichi Tuzzio was tragically shot in an attempt to mug him. He lost the ability to walk, but managed a miraculous recovery over the years which saw him able to walk with the help of a cane. This event motivated him to start his managerial career.

He started as assistant manager on the Farfadillis NT, helping out Tíbürçìó Çötàvíê. Tíbürçìó was not very good at listening, however, so at first his job was more about reigning in the players than anything relating to tactics. As Tíbürçìó started developing dementia, however, he slowly started having a bigger say on tactics, though this isn't something known to the public. Before Tíbürçìó completely slid into insanity, he moved on to the Buyanese national team, which he helped qualify to the World Cup despite them standing essentially no chance at the beginning of the cycle. From there he moved back to the Farfadillis NT once again, this time replacing Tíbürçìó instead of assisting him. He managed a fourth place finish in his first cycle, though in rather heartbreaking fashion after losing 6-3 to Turori in the semifinal. His AOCAF Cup performances were below par, and so was his World Cup 83 performance, as Farfadillis rather unceremoniously went out in the round of sixteen after a shaky group stage performance, despite having managed a perfect run in qualifiers. Coming into World Cup 84, Tuzzio's job was being heavily questioned due to both performances and style. He shut up his critics, however, by bringing the trophy to Farfadillis for the first time in its history, and not once deviating from his methods in the process. After resigning because of how stressful the job as Farfadillis manager is, he joined Baker Park's national team, where he led the Commonwealth to two knockout round appearances and a fourth-place finish in his time there.

As a manager, Tuzzio bucks the trend by being a reasonable manager despite his nationality. He still prefers heavily offensive tactics, but is willing to adapt to his players, going so far as to play merely offensively, or even a balanced playstyle when the situation calls for it. His strengths certainly lie in his man management - he wouldn't have lasted more than a few months managing Farfadillis otherwise - and in his ability to adapt. He also has very in-depth knowledge of every offensive Farf tactic in the book, which gives him a flexibility that's difficult to match. His weakness lies in his inexperience managing a good defense. He's still the manager that got the most out of a Farf defense in history, but it can't be denied that managing a Farf defense is completely different from managing a standard defense. His other weakness is that he can be temperamental, though he never showed signs of this when managing Buyan.

His assistant manager will be Friekder Dandalleion, one of the biggest Farf legends of the game and his best friend. He played for Jungle Strike for almost his entire career, and is probably one of the club's top three biggest legends. For Farfadillis, he, like Tuzzio, was instrumental in their first World Cup appearances, as well as in their first AOCAF Cup win. He also won a second AOCAF Cup, scoring the winning goal in the final against Osarius before retiring from football altogether. He's a consummate professional who will help out Tuzzio with whatever he needs, also giving him suggestions whenever he sees fit. He's not as knowledgeable as Tuzzio, but could probably make it as manager if he so desired.

TACTICS

There's more than a shade of Tlanxball in Ichi Tuzzio's tactics - with a relatively short preparation window between the ill-fated WCQ campaign and the CoH/CAFA, the Farfish manager has opted not to rock the boat too much in terms of system, opting to focus more on installing new players in certain positions. The focus remains on retaining possession and rapidly moving the ball forwards vertically - although Tuzzio emphasizes verticality and lightning-quick transition much more than his Qusmi predecessor. In build-up, Dutto will stay back and use his passing range to search for opportunities to immediately advance to midfield, while both Garcia and Blanco will be given the green light to run forwards with the ball at their feet. Chastain will be given more of a box-to-box role, focusing on making late runs into dangerous areas and pushing the pace, while Arnaudo will be deployed as more of a playmaker. The wingbacks, especially Vitale, essentially have free reign to turn into wingers, and will be providing the bulk of the width in this setup. The aim while in possession will be to rapidly shift the ball forward before using quick interchanges and dynamic movement in the attacking third of the pitch. To aid this, the forwards will often drift wide and into the half-spaces to stretch the opposition defense before playing back through the center or switching play to the now-exposed opposite flank. Toscani and Roux will both cut inside frequently to make plays, while Squarciafichi is more of a pure goalscorer who will have more than enough playmakers feeding her in the box.

On defense, Ichi Tuzzio has opted for a surprisingly sane approach - but he was always the sanest one of the great Farfadillis managers. Defensively, Savigliane will play a relatively high line, aiming to compress the opposition's build-up toward the sidelines and pressing immediately after losing the ball. The Swans will rely on the pace and tactical instincts of their back four to cover what is a pretty attack-minded "front six", especially since both Palomer and Vitale, the most attacking fullback pairing in Swans history, will both be pushing forward if necessary to maintain dynamism in possession. The aggression of the fullbacks, as well as the on-ball ability of Toscani and Roux, make this an even more attack-minded setup than usual, and one that thrives on exploiting weaknesses in the flanks. They might not actually be elite immediately, but they'll at least be fun to watch.

D’Ambrosio has been one of the breakout stars of post-Event Savigliane, going from backup to Golden Glove winner to Mayville starter and NT star. He’s still inexperienced, but an incredibly athletic shot-stopper with inconsistent but strong distribution. DuCasse is a much stronger and more consistent distributor, although his highs aren’t quite as high as D’Ambrosio, and he’s a relatively weak shot-stopper at this level. Rousseau came out of nowhere to anchor Nazionale's title-winning defense and is a dominant presence in the box with strong athleticism but a bit of an ego.

The young Tibère is being touted in some circles as the next great Savigliano youth product. A versatile defender capable of spelling left-backs in a four-at-the-back system, he's a tall, quick, and rangy defender with a bit of shithousing streak and preternatural athleticism. Gianmarco Dutto is a strong but slower-footed center-back whose biggest strength is his ability to distribute from the back - he’s already being tipped as a potential successor to the legendary Pietro Giraudo, and Tuzzio has fallen in love with his playmaking and physicality enough to let him anchor the defense. Blanco, replacing the aging fan favorite Efisio Moreau, is quick, aerially adept, and hard-working, one of Lega 2's best-kept secrets until her move abroad, and a positive surprise at every step in her career.

Celina Blanco has all the determination and athleticism of a Blanco, but isn’t quite as skilled as her older sister, although she was a key part of Nazionale's title-winning defense. Onio was one of the best defenders in the Mytanar Top League last season, catching the eye of contenders 1896 Ebor with his passing abilities and calmness and off the ball. LeClerc is sharp, athletic, and versatile (serving as both a center-back and right-back for Trinité), but not as polished with the ball as other defenders. A string of injuries saw others surpass him in the race for a starting spot, but a recent resurgence saw him win the SavigLega's Golden Ball award.

Palomer is a tricky, energetic, attack-minded fullback whose greatest strength is his incisive overlapping runs. A bit one-dimensional, but young enough to round out his game, surprisingly good in Astograth, and attack-minded enough for Tuzzio to start him. Arnaudo is an energetic, pacy box-to-box type who excelled during San Ludovico's "Miracle Run" to the LBCT semifinals, earning him a big transfer this window. He's also weirdly good at set pieces, both delivering and receiving. A confusing heir to Bianca Fiore's #8, considering he plays in the second division, but gambling on him is something both Tlanx and Tuzzio have opted to do, and the latter reportedly sees a bit of takilante in him. Chastain is unpolished, often lacks focus, and is prone to fouling, but genuinely one of Savigliane's best when she's on, with the kind of passing vision, defensive positioning, and aggressive athleticism that make us reach for the Bianca Fiore comparisons. La Nueva Avenida was a challenge slightly beyond her in her debut season, but she's steadily grown into her expanded roles for club and country and is approaching genuine stardom. Sauvageon, somewhat similarly to CoH starter Giovanna Vitale, is a high-flying, aggressive fullback who needs to work on her defensive discipline in ~~Chromatika~~ Tikariot - but served ably as a “break in case of emergency” before Tuzzio decided he wanted to play that way all the time.

Dubois is a pacy, tricky fullback who can serve as a spark-plug offensively but isn't as solid of a defender yet. Bella, the young player of the year in Savigliane, is known for his creativity and flair with the ball, and surprisingly high workrate (somewhat compensating for his lack of athleticism) without it. Cambiaso is a strong, composed fullback who's surprisingly good at set-piece delivery, having scored four free-kicks in his least season with Nazionale. Nazionale thought he reached his limit, but he's fitted in well into Giuliani's Couno side.

Roux is an incredible dribbler with sometimes inaccurate but sometimes incredible passing ability and a left foot that produces magical free-kicks and long-range shots. She's rapidly developing into one of the better young players based in Kelssek and a future star, and a breakout tournament here could do wonders for her career. Squarciafichi is a predatory finisher and absolutely lethal in the penalty box. Although a solid dribbler, her best runs are off the ball, and her passing is still a work in progress, although slightly improved. Toscani is a technically gifted young attacker who, despite not being particularly athletic, has already impressed at the highest levels with Cazadores Cathair. He’s capable of playing as a center-midfielder, an attacking-midfielder, or, thanks to his surprisingly good crossing ability, on the wing.

A deadly passer and crosser who uses her speed to hug the touchline and burst past defenders, Gastaldo was Porto Vecchio's best player in a relegation campaign and has continued to shine abroad on either wing. Rinaldi, although injury-prone, became one of AC Acqui Bollente’s most important players before his move abroad - not an easy feat on a team with three national team starters - due to his aerial prowess and consistently confident finishing in the penalty box. Collomb, known for a methodical, deliberate style of play, is a strong passer and finisher most at home setting up teammates.

THE SEEKERS

The 'Evermark national football team', calling themselves the Seekers, have arrived at the CAFA determined to secure a result, which they consider a sacred duty. This is Evermark's first official tournament, though they are adamant in claiming that they, or at least their people, have previously won a World Cup. Counting the manager, they have sent two from each 'Pride'.

Contact was made by an ethnography team from a number of universities. The result of their studies of the first Evermarker season, and a number of their customs, can be found here. The ethnography team have continued to operate as the Evermarkers' go-between with civilisation, and effectively sponsored their arrival in the CAFA.

The Seekers will take to the field in green shirts and black shorts, with an all-white change strip and an all-orange or all-indigo goalkeeper strip. While their kits and boots are rudimentary by modern standards, they are fairly functional.

Evermark's opponents have permission to do anything short of a godmod.

STYLE: -2
FORMATION: 4-4-2

Used to a permissive refereeing style in their homeland, Evermarkers play an unrelentingly physical and dirty style of play, regarding this as their most likely way of acquiring the sacred Result. Used to being on the receiving end of such play, their attacking combinations are very direct, often bypassing the midfield. Without exception, their players are strong and athletic, though lacking many sport science innovations integral to the modern game such as cryotherapy or doping. After defeat, they will fast the night in penance, which does carry the risk of a protracted losing streak; after victory, they drink themselves into a stupor, carrying its own risks.

Evermark will adhere unbendingly to a 4-4-2 formation, regardless of situation; a striker will reluctantly be sacrificed in the event of a red card, which is not unlikely.

MANAGER
Perilous Sapphire - Age 39 - Valiant
Sapphire brought unexpected glory to the Valiant last season. She respects the sport deeply and hopes to learn much from the tournament.

GOALKEEPERS
1 - GK - Valour Hawes - Age 34 - Diligent
An old war-horse of a goalkeeper, Hawes has little technical ability, but is warmly respected amongst the Seekers. He is very unlikely to see action, being far past his prime.

12 - GK - Merry Cassalei - Age 24 - Dauntless
An avid feaster, drinker and boaster, Cassalei cuts a generous figure between the posts but lunges for the ball with a deceptive agility. There's a low-key ferocity behind those sleepy eyes. Easily the best goalkeeper in Evermark, but poor compared to much of the rest of the team.

20 - GK - Prudent Tathale - Age 27 - Watchful
An unremarkable backup goalkeeper, Tathale was selected to represent one of the weaker Prides. Her job is to sit quietly at the back and not cause trouble.

DEFENDERS
2 - RB - Eloiza Reckful - Age 31 - Erudite
A cautious and conservative fullback, which is to say, Eloiza will ruthlessly hack down or haul back any winger that passes her. Owing to her aging legs, there will be many.

3 - LB - Aniseed Connell - Age 25 - Diligent
A darting, clever fullback, Connell is derided by many in Evermark for his seeming reluctance to merely scythe down his opponents, rather trying to win the ball fairly.

4 - CB - Gerhard Beacon - Age 28 - Valiant
Gerhard stands firm in defence and sets a good example to the rest of the team. He is appallingly slow, but the team's conservative low block should at least look to cover for this.

5 - CB - Sutter Hurlbat - Age 32 - Watchful
A powerhouse of a defender, Sutter is well-known for his ability to drag people down by the arm, and is reportedly disappointed to discover this is considered a 'foul' in modern football.

16 - RB - Rascal Annika - Age 23 - Inspired
A young woman of promise, Annika is one of the few attack-minded fullbacks in Evermark, making up for her courageous forward runs by cynically fouling anyone who gets behind her.

18 - CB - Silent Matthis - Age 26 - Resplendent
Matthis lets his football do the talking. Or, at least, what he does on the pitch; one time, he bit a chunk of flesh off a man's calf. A respected man of honour.

22 - LB - Layla Meretricious - Age 24 - Aspirant
A limited but tireless player, Layla is arguably too willing to follow modern methods of sport science, and currently hopes to be able to use a cryo-chamber between games.

MIDFIELDRS
6 - DM - Elena Oaktree - Age 24 - Resplendent
Slow and strong, as her honourific suggests, Elena has a languid grace in possession that livens up even the very physically focused, grinding and direct Rites.

8 - CM - Torches Kessler - Age 27 - Pristine
A bold and hard-running midfielder who has already passed between three victorious Prides, Kessler's honourific comes for his raging temper.

10 - RM - Fixed-wing Caspar - Age 24 - Aspirant
The fastest man in the league, Caspar's lack of other discernable attributes or virtues does little to hold him back in a competition of that calibre.

11 - LM - Adelaide Sacrosanct - Age 26 - Erudite
Adelaide's origins are a mystery to the ethnography team. All that is known is that she inspires a hushed terror in all around.

13 - RM - Josep Burning Candle - Age 32 - Inspired
Cruelled by injury, Josep is anticipated to make little impact at the tournament, and has been chosen in large part to fill a slot in the weak Inspired pride - as well as in reference to the talent he once had.

14 - CM - Spindle Idina - Age 25 - Ardent
Idina despises her pathetically weak Pride, the Ardent, though it is that Pride's very weakness that meant she was a certain callup for the Seekers. She craves the opportunity to prove herself abroad, but it is doubtful she is of the requisite quality.

19 - LM - Sparkling Ingrid - Age 21 - Paragon
Considered something of an iconoclast in Evermarker circles, Ingrid once made the bold suggestion that the permissive refereeing at the Rites was contributing to the sport's brutal attrition rates. That she has been called up despite her moral failings speaks much of her talent.

23 - DM - Hard-nosed Carsten - Age 28 - Outcast
The leading committer of fouls and accumulator of yellow cards in the Rites, Carsten has earned much honour and credibility for his work. He is a thug, and admired for it.

FORWARDS
7 - ST - Leif Nine Fingers - Age 23 - Outcast
A scarred, handsome striker, who is believed one of the likeliest to earn a foreign contract. His name is no metaphor, one finger having been eaten by a rabid thylacine. 12 goals last season made him the Rites' top scorer.

9 - ST - Towering Pollard - Age 29 - Dauntless
Pollard stands at 6'11". The modest level of the Evermarker Rites is such that this alone has made him a force to be reckoned with.

15 - ST - Promiscuous Emerjade - Age 24 - Paragon
Emerjade is reputed to have slept with most of the rest of her Pride, a feat regarded solemnly as proof of immense passion, stamina and willingness to build team chemistry.

17 - ST - Umber Ruskin - Age 21 - Ardent
Short, powerful and pugnacious, Ruskin is respected by his willingness to battle with defenders, using his low centre of gravity to get an edge.

21 - ST - Ziska Longshanks - Age 26 - Pristine
One of the most dangerous forwards in Evermark, Ziska carries much of the team's goalscoring hopes, but carries a significant badge of shame having once been caught diving for a penalty. After a priest broke her legs to make penance, her moniker now carries a rather cruelly ironic bent.

Naming themselves after an immortal bird seems fitting, and hopefully prescient.

Iskandervale has produced three exceptional footballers: Ishtar Fanaiyan, Servet Misidjan, Voska Avetisyan. All three played for Nephara instead. There's a substantial Iskandrian diaspora in Nephara, and elsewhere in Anaia, but Iskandervale's trying to build something more sustainable as the scars of war hopefully begin to recede ...

Tactics

First-choice lineup. Pace and power will be the watchwords, hoping to make up in physicality what they lack in skill, and given their Nepharan origins they will be brutal and uncompromising both in tackling and in gamesmanship. They're going to come flying at teams, especially down the right, with Nasir Majerle a gifted attacking player and natural forward linking up with the playmaker Talay, but may well get brutally exposed on the counterattack, especially given the sluggish pace of their defence.

Offering width, Moths backup winger Nasir Majerle is crowbarred into wingback, and provides much of the side's thrust; Maurtua's significantly more defensively-minded, and more limited as a player, though his aura of competence is very welcome. Tasha Kamarandan, however, has been the breakthrough Iskandrian star of recent years, already a clever and capable operative at Red League level.

Mkrtchyan cut his teeth in the Nepharan lower leagues, and offer a lot of grit despite limited technical ability. Kadhim will get there, but this isn't yet her day. It isn't Najjarine's day, either, but he just isn't very good to start with, and probably won't play a minute.

Iskandervale are Evermark's puppet. I am entirely happy for them to be removed to even out numbers.

The Federal Republic of Estorvipa and Estorpiva is a federal union between two states, the Federation of Estorvipa and the Republic of Estorpiva, created on 22 November 2019 after the two states agreed to unite together and present a combined front against the other rebel sides in the Estorian Civil War. The Federal Republic is backed by the Democratic People's Republic of the United Socialist States of Pridnestrovia (or just Pridnestrovia for short), which was an ally of the old Estorvipan People's Republic before it collapsed into numerous competing factions and states, and Pridnestrovia decided that the Federal Republic was the most stable nation-state that they could support in this war. But despite being backed by a "socialist" nation and adopting some socialist imagery, the Federal Republic is a democratic republic with free and fair elections for the 27 million people under its governance, and its ultimate aim is to reunite the Vipan and Pivan lands peacefully, but if the Federal Republic must use force to restore peace and order in the land then it will certainly do so.

By all accounts, he is a brilliant keeper who has everything going for him. He can stop shots from almost anywhere on the pitch, and he can also come out of his area and sweep opposing forwards off their feet if needed. The only reason why he's on the bench is because Traian Pantilimon has been selected to be the first Estorian goalkeeper in the Federal Republic's history, but Enin is expected to take his place starting from the second game in the Baptism of Fire.

RB: Florian KESSLER 27 y/o, male, Exiles FK (Pridnestrovia)
He was not originally a citizen of Estorvipa, although his mother was a Vipan who moved to the Ixanian Socialist State in Pridnestrovia and married a local man. This thus qualified him to acquire Estorian citizenship when the time came, and he moved from Wormatia Wewelsburg to Exiles FK in preparation for representing the Federal Republic in international football. He is a solid defender with solid pace and not much else, but that's good enough for the Federal Republic while it works on developing the stars of the future.

LCB: Markus KRASNENKO 25 y/o, male, Exiles FK (Pridnestrovia)
He is a Vipan refugee who used to live in St. Paulsburg and played for a semi-professional football side in the city before the Estorian Civil War. He was originally conscripted into the Estorvipan People's Army, but his regiment defected to Field Marshal Petar Antonic's Estorvipan Liberation Army near the beginning of the civil war. He surrendered to the Pridnestrovian Army after teh end of the Battle of St. Paulsburg and took advantage of the offer of asylum extended by the Pridnestrovians in the aftermath of the Treaty of Kotelnirovo. He was soon signed by Exiles FK where he made a name ofr himself as a good defender, but his pace and technique are definitely lacking compared to other defenders in the Pridnestrovian league system.

LB: Holden KRASTENKOVIC 22 y/o, male, Exiles FK (Pridnestrovia)
Another Vipan refugee who fled to Pridnestrovia after the first withdrawal of Pridnestrovian troops from Estorian lands due to the Treaty of Kotelnirovo. He was originally from the northern city of Tarkovska, now the de facto capital of the Estorvipan Commune, and had made the arduous journey to the Pridnestrovian-occupied south on foot, evading Communard and Imperial military patrols in order to secure a ride to Pridnestrovia alongside other refugees and pro-leftist Vipans and Pivans seeking to flee the Estorian nation before the Communards enacted their anti-leftist purges. Despite having never picked up a football before in his life, he was recruited to Exiles FK, where he has surprisingly developed into an average defender with brilliant pace and average passing skills.

RM: Stanislav VINOGRADOVSKY 34 y/o, male, Exiles FK (Pridnestrovia)
He is the son of the manager of the Estorian national football team, but Branislav Vinogradovsky was unaware that he had sired a child during his time in Estorvipa until Stanislav arrived in Pridnestrovia along with thousands of other Estorian refugees fleeing their country once it had come under the fold of the Imperium and their puppet factions. Because of this, Stanislav holds a grudge against his father, a grudge that he uses to motivate him into going all-in with his tackles against the opposition.

LM: Serafina POTRITSKIJ 24 y/o, female, Exiles FK (Pridnestrovia)
Her main function in the midfield is to distribute the ball and take the occasional pot shot at goal if given the chance. She can run back and help in the defense if needed, but her primary function is to spread the ball around the pitch for the attacking Estorian players to latch onto and put the goal under threat. If the ball happens to end up right back on her feet during that sequence then she has license to fire a shot on target or pass to another teammate to start the cycle anew.

Twin brother of Roberta Kunaplenko. He is the son of the former Estorvipan ambassador to the Sultanate of Oontaz, Venyamin Kunaplenko, who fell in love with a local woman whom he would eventually marry. The Kunaplenkos had been living quietly in Rybolovlev when the Pridnestrovian intervention in the Estorian Civil War happened, and the family soon fell under suspicion because of good relations between the Sultanate of Oontaz and Pridnestrovia. The Kunaplenko family fled to Pridnestrovia alongside the first withdrawal of Pridnestrovian troops, and the twins were recruited to play for Exiles FK alongside other Vipan and Pivan refugees. He is a fast winger with incredible pace and outstanding technique but has a marked inability to cross the ball into the box. This is in contrast to his twin sister who is a faster winger and better crosser but can't escape out of a sticky situation.

CAM: Arseniy DAVYDOV 28 y/o, male, Exiles FK (Pridnestrovia)
Most of his experience in football was playing for the works team of the old Estorvipan People's Army, but that had to take a back seat to soldiering when the Estorian Civil War broke out and he had to fight against the numeropus rebel factions that had sprung up in Estorvipa after being emboldened by the success of the Estorvipan Commune in separating from the south. Like many soldiers who surrendered to the Pridnestrovians during the war, he took advantage of their offer of asylum after the signing of the Treaty of Kotelnirovo because he knew that the Communards would go after soldiers of the Estorvipan People's Army because they had fought for a "socialist leader" before Vissarion Zhivkov switched allegiances to the Imperium and their Inselberg pact. While officially his position is central attacking midfielder, his seeming inability to string together two successful passes has turned him more into a false nine or a second striker operating behind Fabian Prasutagusic.

LW: ROBERTA Kunaplenko 22 y/o, female, Exiles FK (Pridnestrovia)

He is pretty much the star player for this Estorian team. He personally refused to recognize any of the other warring factions in the Estorian Civil War as legitimate, and he was of the opinion that the northern Estorvipan Commune was nothing but a bunch of blood traitors willing to sell out themselves and their own country in exchange for favors from the Imperium. He was a product of CSKA Tiraspol's academy, and while he was nothing special in the Army Club, he had turned into a superstar striker once he moved to Exiles FK, and he looks to replicate this performance for the Estorian national team.

She's just setting the Federal Top League alight with the number of crazy save highlights she produces game by game. She's pretty much a younger female version of Fiodor Enin with the way she stops shots and rushes at opposing forwards, and she is expected to alternate games with Enin after Traian Pantilimon has played his one and only game for the Federal Republic.

The future of the Estorian goalkeeping position looks very bright with him in between the sticks. He's already doing the job for Mamai Ihorovtsi, and local managers are praising him for his divine goalkeeping skills. His only weakness is that his passing is a bit poor, and opponents might be able to take advantage of that once he plays for the national team.

DF: Nona SERGEYEVA 27 y/o, female, Dinamo Bender Women (Pridnestrovia)
Not only is she a good defender but she is also a good aerial threat. She can defend against taller opponents and she can also score headers if needed. Her only downsides are that she's somewhat slow and that she gets tired easily, hence why she's been kept on the bench instead of being a regular starter for the national team.

DF: Dencho TIMNEV 22 y/o, male, Ufa Verkhovyansk (Pridnestrovia)
He's an excellent defender by any means, capable of either helping play the ball out of the back or keeping up with those fast and tricky forwards trying to bear down on the Estorian goal. His only downside is that he is nowhere near as good in the air as he is on the ground which, for someone as tall as he is (at 177 cm) is a bit of a liability on the pitch.

DF: Dzyamid USHKEVICH 22 y/o, male, Metallurgist Beledor (Pridnestrovia)
Under most circumstances, he wouldn't be able to make the national teams of most other nations, but given that the Federal Republic is in need of players to represent it on the international stage, Ushkevich has been given the chance to prove himself worthy of representing this new state to the rest of the world. He can defend, he can head the ball, and he can dribble his way out of a few sticky situations, but he's still a bit too raw to start a game in most cases.

All the necessary elements for a solid and outstanding wingback are all there; all he really needs to do now is to gain experience in both club and international football and he's going to be playing under the colors of the Federal Republic of years to come. But until then, he will have to make do with some appearances from the bench.

MF: Ignjatije ATANACKOVIĆ 20 y/o, male, FK Traktor St. Paulsburg (Estorvipa and Estorpiva)
He may be young but he's already got the makings of a very good central midfielder within him. He can make things happen from almost anywhere on the pitch, and he has the speed to both attack the goal and defend his own side if needed. If only he didn't get gassed so easily then maybe he could make a case for being included in the starting eleven more times than not.

MF: Rada Mladenova KOSTOVA 24 y/o, female, CSK Armiya Supskij (Estorvipa and Estorpiva)
She is a very good playmaker who can make things happen from the middle of the pitch. Her good passing and solid pace also means that she can put in a defensive shift if needed, but she is really more suited to orchestrating attacks on the opponent. However, the less said about her ability to put the ball into the back of the net, the better.

MF: Rahmatullo RODIN 23 y/o, male, Masyafspor (Pridnestrovia)
He is everything that Arseniy Davydov is: a brilliant playmaker with a keen eye for both his teammates and the goal who can also put in defensive shifts if needed. The only reason why Davydov is starting over Rodin is because Davydov is a more polished and complete player than Rodin right now, but now we know what Rodin could look like once he becomes the finished product.

At a young age, she's already making a name for herself in the small and nascent Federal Top League of the Federal Republic. She has the accuracy and the fancy footwork to set her up for a good future in football, but apart from those skills, she still needs to develop a lot more before she can start thinking about pursuing a starting spot.

FW: Marek LEMISH 22 y/o, male, FC Dinamo Durdenville (Estorvipa and Estorpiva)
He's a very good striker; there's no denying that. But the problem is that Fabian Prasutagusic is even better than him, and there are also some things that Lemish will need to work on if he wishes to become a success in this Estorian team; things such as his stamina and passing. Other than that, he's actually a remarkably good player.

FW: Lazar ANKOV 23 y/o, male, FK Pridnestrovskaya Gavan (Pridnestrovia)
Another very good striker in the ranks. This time, the problem with him is that he is very much a defensive liability, meaning that it's best not to have him trying to defend much because he's just poor at it. That, coupled with surprisingly weak passing on his part means that it is easier to nab the ball from him than from other players, thus why he remains on the bench.

Format: Casaran. Of course. What else? I will use the Casaran tool that NWK sent me, and is publically available in my repl.it account. This ensures that the bid can work with any even number of entrants. I'm looking at 5 or 6 matchdays, with the top 8 going to the quarterfinals. The next best 8 will go to a consolation plate knockout tournament.

Whilst there have been female managers of the Bostopian national team, Blue was seen as a 'once-in-a-lifetime' footballing talent that the OIFA could find no reason, legally or otherwise, to exclude her from the national team. It was her second goal of the CAFA final which had sealed the Ochres 3 – 1 win over Saltstead with 3 minutes remaining of the 90. Blue also scored the winning goal to send the Ochre Islands to the World Cup finals for the first time.

Home, Away and Third

The Ochre Islands kits were designed and manufactured by OchreSport, with input from the Ochre Islands Football Association.
The home kit uses the familiar Ochre colours of Ochre and Blue Ochre, moving away from the stripes seen during CAFA1, WC89 qualifying and the Ochre's Championship-winning CAFA 2 campaign.

The away kit is a contiuation of the popular 'Anaiaway' theme promoted by the OIFA, which they say 'promotes peace & harmony and reminds us that whilst we may be in an away kit, the Anaia region is still our home'.

The third kit pulls on an idea from CAFA 2, combining the official colours of two of the islands of the Ochre Islands. For World Cup 90, CAFA 3 and World Cup 91, the Ochres are using the turquoise of Jensee and the juniper of Juniper Island. The OIFA will use colour schemes promoting the islands which make up the Ochres in future footballing tournaments.

Before CAFA 2, the Ochre Islands Football Association ran a competition to design the team's logo, which was won by a 34 year old man with neither design experience or taste. Fortunately, an update of the design to account for taste was commissioned and outsourced by the OIFA, which is as below. The badge prominently features a 'little mint green hat', which actually commerorates the Ochre Islands victory in the second CAFA tournament.

The Ochre Islands play a possession-based style of football which aims to prevent the opposition from scoring by simply not letting them have the ball. A shorter, faster passing game has been developed for use against Anaian sides, with long passes and crosses encouraged if it looks reasonably safe.

Perales is the former assistant manager of the Montaña Verde national team. More creative and tactically astitute than Beaubrun, Perales is relatively young (early 40s), but as an outsider has yet to fully command the trust of the squad.

Squad: This is squad of 23 players. It can generally be assumed the players number 1 – 11 will start, but so long as you’re sensible and unless I’ve RPed otherwise, you can RP my team lineup with some variation. Names in green are new.

Only men play in Mont Vert but they are familiar with the concept of coed leagues and won’t treat women differently. However, they consider being referred to as “Chickens” rather than “Cockerels” an insult.

The league is fairly new as a result of restructuring following independence, and does not play to a high standard. Some players are semi-pro.
Soccer is a popular sport but mainly as a leisure pasttime rather than an all-consuming passion. Beach soccer is also pretty popular.
Players are athletic and have some talent. If we lose, don’t have us be woefully incompetent or completely unfamiliar with the sport of football, despite obviously being something of a minnow in Anaian terms.
Not a violent team but not a spotlessly clean one either in terms of diving, combative words to the referee, or the odd tactical elbow.

Mascot: Guillaume, an intersex capon (their ambiguous sex saved them from the slaughterhouse). They will run around pecking corn thrown onto the pitch by the fan army, the Cockerel Crew.
Fans: The Cockerel Crew are fairly boisterous but basically well behaved. Hooliganism is unknown. Blowing conch shells is popular (with the fans, less so with the TV audio producers).

Fritzner is a defensive midfielder of the old-fashioned hack-the-ankles-off-the-buggers variety, Gaétan a holding player who can provide good link up play with his accurate passing but isn’t very quick or strong at shooting, and Rémi, previously a reserve, has quick feet but poor football IQ at times. Enock and Jean René are very promising youngsters, Enock a canny holding midfielder, Jean René a good ballplayer with some great free-kicks, but both are quite raw and lack the physical strength of their seniors.

Potted history

Audioslavia reached the finals of World Cups 12, 19, 20 and 29, losing all of them and gaining a reputation as a team that chokes.
After thirty cycles away, Audioslavia won the Baptism of Fire before World Cup 59, won the AOCAF Cup in cycle 60 and then won back-to-back World Cups in cycles 63 and 64. That's the golden generation right there.
Since then, the side regained their status as chokers, losing in a few major finals, including World Cups 67, 69 and 76.
After winning the AOCAF Cup before cycle 88, Audioslavia left Atlantian Oceania to join the new region of Anaia.
Despite renewed fortune on the world stage, Audioslavia's record in the CAFA Cup is very poor, having won only one game so far

Style of Play

Post Football is the name given to Audioslavia's style of play. It's based on the idea that, the less the game resembles football, the more ill at ease your opponents will be. Audioslavia play dirty, sideways and overly cautiously.
Kontrapuntzeka is another word for it. Literally meaning counter-attacking, Audioslavia's national team are comfortable playing without the ball and charging forward in numbers when they do have it.
Audioslavian footballers tend to be on the leaner side, with everyone outside of the goalie, centre forward and centre half topping out at about 5'10.
Audioslavian footballers are often tenacious and resistant, with the highest levels of stamina you'll see in world football. Audioslavian sides are often capable of playing at a high-tempo for long periods of time, and wins are often through attrition rather than skill.
Audioslavian teams are notorious for gamesmanship - the bending of the rules in order to gain an advantage. Players will taunt, feign injury, surround the referee, basically anything if it seems like it'd be beneficial. Audioslavians feel no shame in this. As far as they're concerned, their willingness to go further than the other team is a sign that they're more dedicated than their opponents might be.
As well as lacking a bit of raw power, Audioslavian footballers often lack technique compared to their foreign counterparts.
Above all else though, what Audioslavian national teams often lack is heart. The worse things are going, the worse Audioslavians play.

This team

As is the norm for regional competitions, Audioslavia's squad tends a bit younger, blooding teenagers in the reserves but generally keeping the strongest possible first XI.
Koenraad Rijsbergen is getting on a bit, but he's the team's main focal point in attack. Rijsbergen is tall (for an Audioslavian. He's about 6'1) and strong and a prick. He's probably whispering something offensive to your centre back right now.
Tiago Brown is short but incredibly quick, and often kick-starts counter-attacks on the right hand side. He's just about at the far end of his peak. Once his pace goes, he's going to become much less effective. Watch for him getting tired at the end of games and becoming more lazy about his positioning.
Moses Moxey is a tall, rangy central midfielder who has been at the heart of the national team for a while now. As his legs begin to go, he's started dropping further and further back. This may be his final tournament appearance for Audioslavia. Yuriorkis Stelea is more 'the guy' in midfield these days. The 5'7 Itzi all-rounder's pressing game is second to none. If your player has the ball in Audioslavia's half, there's a decent chance Stelea is right behind them.
Archer Flat is impossibly pale, very ginger, has an ugly scar on his face and basically looks like a cartoon villain. He is all that is wrong with the world.

for the CAFA Cup 3

Our History:

Mertagne's run in their latest tournament, the Cup of Harmony, was a tough run as a pot 3 team, finishing exactly where they were statistically expected to by ekeing out two draws and losing to top-seed and region-mates Savigliane. Gaining approximately 15 places in the KPB rankings in the process, the only way is truly up for Mertagne as they return for the 3rd CAFA Cup. The team this cycle will be attempting to graduate out of the group stage, a feat they've yet to manage in any senior tournament since their return. A squad shakeup from the Cup of Harmony thanks to assistant manager Kristie Ettrick is being continued, with a few realignments here and there.

Mertagne as a nation is a large, genial nation found in the north of Calania, smashed between footballing greats Starblaydia and Krytenia. Much like the third Schuyler Sister, Mertagne hasn't done much of note in the footballing world as of yet, but the FMF and all of the nation's sporting fans remain ever hopeful that one day the tides will turn and the team will start their journey to the top. Mertagnians are passionate about football, but have a habit of being stoic and cynical when it comes to their own team, believing it to be an inevitably when the team does crash out of whatever tournament they've entered, but being more and more ecstatic behind the scenes with each victory.

Calming, Sensible, Lithe, Architect
The mythical Ázëwyn Fëanáro has accepted the mantle of managing the senior Mertagnian football team, after a lucrative offer on the part of the FMF and the promise of a shorter commute than any other team in the multiverse, with the possible exception of Legalese.

A record appearance maker for the Starblaydi national football team, having debuted in the World Cup's 44th cycle, Fëanáro is a World Cup Hall of Famer who successfully managed the Starblaydi side to a win in the 61st AOCAF Cup, during her tenure at the head of the Purple Peril from World Cup 78 to World Cup 90. Known mutiversally for her expertise in the midfield and eye for shot-scoring, the Mertagnian side are looking to work well under Fëanáro's tutelage to bring them up from the mid-tier doldrums of international play and further into the multiversal limelight.

Fëanáro has made the executive decision to work with what she has this CAFA, but the implication from the backrooms is that large-scale changes are on the horizon, with increasing powers being made available to the Starblaydi manager that's roughly 50 times older than the national team she will lead into this CAFA. The FMF and the nation's fans are waiting with bated breath to see their fortunes change with Fëanáro at the helm, and media reaction to her appointment was positive, after a post from a news agency detailing her release from the SFA on twii.tur was 'ratioed' following her appointment to the FMF by a twii that simply said '#ForeverFëanáro'.

Assistant Manager: Kristie Ettrick, 41,

Kristie Ettrick had a poster of Fëanáro on her wall growing up in the Old Quarter of Neorudo. It was a gift from her father. She's now got it signed and it hangs proudly in her office at the Neorudo Cop Limy stadium, where the Mertagnian Team has sat, half a country away from their bureaucracy, for a few cycles now. While the media initially thought she'd feel snubbed by Ázëwyn Fëanáro's managerial appointment, she went on record to say that she was 'ecstatic' and that she wouldn't pass up the 'opportunity to work alongside someone that will hopefully mentor the team from the bottom to the very top'. Ettrick is determined to get the best out of this team, and prove to the multiverse that Mertagne once again has just as much to offer in the sporting world as its neighbours.

Kristie Ettrick is a no-nonsense manager who had moderate success in managing Mertagne's U21 squad, and took the reigns covertly from the senior squad's previous manage during the WC90 campaign. This plan, while solid on paper, led to a difficult qualifying campaign and a reshuffle of much of the squad, which led to floundering in the 82nd Cup of Harmony. A new cycle means a new start, however, and Ettrick is looking to bring the spice that has become her unique style to the squad once again - something that it looking to be a potent combination when combined with the tact of her superior.

The squad will be playing with a style modifier of +4, as Fëanáro and Ettrick have worked together to create an attacking squad that is looking to emulate their respective goal-scoring successes.

Typically, a player closer to the top of the chart within each position is more likely to be picked. This outfit of the Mertagnian National team will be playing in a 2-3-5 formation, that presses on the attack and is punishing if the ball is won in the attacking third. This team is also very capable of scoring from set pieces, and if an attack isn't looking feasible against a more defensively minded team, the players will be looking to create opportunities to get corners or free kicks.

AFFOGATO THINK OF A TITLE FOR THIS ONE
Mertagne makes a bid for the CAFA Cup's third edition

FORMAT:
The format will be dependant upon how many rostered signups we end up with. Single round robin will be used for all of these.
- If it's 16, then there will be 4 groups of 4, and the top two teams in each group will advance out of the group stage to the quarter finals.
- If it's 20, there will be 4 groups of 5, and the top two teams in each group will advance out of the group stage to the quarter finals.
- If it's 24, there will be 6 groups of 4, and the top two teams in each group as well as the 4 best third place finishers will advance to a round of 16.

If it's more than 24, I'll work with you guys to work something out.
If numbers need to be made up, I'll politely ask a user with an Anaia puppet to sign up for numbers purposes. I'd rather add than cut, unless any nations have explicitly stated they are happy to be cut for numbers purposes.

SCORINATION:
I will be using xkoranate 0.3.3 using SQIS with additive score mods. The latest CAFA ranks will be used for scorination purposes as well as group stage pot seeding. Your roster will be worth up to 1 rank point, and your RPs for each window will be ranked on a scale from 0-2 ranking points. It worked well for our cyan chums last time, I think it will work well here. The matches will be played on neutral ground here in Mertagne.

Tiebreakers will be the following: points, goal difference, head-to-head result, head-to-head Foxsal, Foxsal wins, Foxsal goal time, coin flip (OOC scorinated as a game using each team's RP bonus only.)

There seemed to be a general positivity (albeit with some suggestions for improvement) to the brevity bonus, so I will be continuing the tradition in this edition. Seeing as it's the third edition, RPs measuring in at exactly 333 words will get an extra 0.33 ranking points, provided they do so in a way conducive to their story. (This criteria is subjective and will be judged by me, and basically means you can't give your narrator a heart attack so they don't finish their sentence unless you really allude to it.) RPs between 300-366 words will receive 0.3 rank bonus, and those between 222-444 words will receive a 0.22 rank bonus. This gives you a bit of wiggle room if you've got a nice story but just want to say that bit more. Or less. Word count will be judged using this wordcounting website, so you can check yourself before you trek yourself... over to the submission button.

ARE YOU GONNA MAKE IT WEIRD?:
I'm Anaian, so it'd be amiss if I didn't. Rumour has it that a certain type of football spin off popularised in the lower decks of the Aut-Ves-Nat, Foxsal, has caught on in the streets of Mertagne after an as-yet-to-be-described event involving a boat, a tournament, and some of the multiverse's best football players. Some of your players (or impassioned fans masquerading as your sporting elite) will be taking part in Foxsal games, most likely played in a seedy storage depot near the stadium. These foxsal matches will be scorinated using a slightly-edited-on-the-surface-but-not-changing-how-it-works copy of Osarius's Foxsal scorinator, and scores will be released alongside the matchdays. The best Foxsal performers from each group will receive a bonus point at the end of the final matchday, which might be enough to catapult them into the knockouts. These best Foxsaleers will also play in a smaller knockout tournament to determine the region's Foxsal champion. Which is obviously much more important than a *squints* cuppa Caffa.

SCHEDULE:
Scorination will occur to the tune of one matchday every 48 hours, with the exception of the 3PPO, which will be scorinated approximately 24 hours after the semi-final and 24 hours before the final. (Groundbreaking stuff, I know.) Cutoff time is TBD, but my timezone is UTC, and therefore it will most likely be a smaller window between the times of 17:00 and 23:00 UTC. I haven't decided yet. Any delays will try to be communicated at least 24h in advance.

EXPERIENCE:
I've not hosted anything in about 8 years. I'm a heck of a lot older now (and not much wiser), however, so even though I am a bit rusty, I hope that I'm able to deliver you an enjoyable CAFA experience. KRYTENIA 2296 CAFA CUP SQUAD
Modifier: +2

Beginning their football journey way back in the second Baptism of Fire competition, Krytenia are one of the oldest national teams still competing in international competition. With five World Cups hosted, as well as a smattering of AOCAFs, Cups of Harmony, Baptism of Fires, and even a CAFA Cup, they also have a deserved reputation for organising top-level football competitions. What they don't have, though, is a reputation for winning. They are yet to win a World Cup, and indeed have only reached one final, losing to Aguazul in World Cup 58. Five semi-final defeats are what set the tone for the Dragons – indeed, losing in the semis of a major competition is known as the “Krytenian Curse”. That said, there is silverware in their cabinet. Having created the AOCAF Cup, Krytenia eventually won the fifty-second iteration of the competition; more recently, they won Cup of Harmony 78 and nearly added a second two cycles later, losing to fellow co-hosts Græntfjell on home soil.

They may have a reputation as the multiverse's nearly men, but never let yourself be deluded that the Krytenians are defeatist. Even though they may come up short, it's a very rare thing to see a Dragons team simply give up. Be aware that when the sky blue shirts are on the field, you will be in for a tough game, and victory will always be hard-earned.

Manager – Richard VALENS, Age 54
Came to prominence as Stanton Town manager, leading the team to a well-deserved O-League title before international football management came calling in the form of Chromatika. Led the side to decent runs in the World Cup before a regression in World Cup 89 led to him being available to manage the Dragons, with Paul Davis curiously deciding to call it a day after leading the side to their first finals in half a century. Still, that's not Valens' problem. The backwards steps in World Cup 90 qualifying and the ensuing Cup of Harmony, on the other hand, are very much his problem, and Valens knows he'll need a deep run in this competition.

Assistant Manager – Cormac O'NEILL, Age 44
Valens has immediately stamped his authority on the backroom, built with pride at the Harbour Stadium. Former national team captain O'Neill steps up from coaching duties on the coast to his ex-boss's number two. Ex-teammates Jonathan Redmayne and Andrew Thornton have also made the jump, joining existing offensive coach Selly Kennedy in an all-Stanton coaching staff.

Impressed with a stunning debut season in Casuals' title-winning campaign. Reeder plays the game almost on instinct, looking to find space and run at defenders at every opportunity. A real headache to play against. Was expected to be a fixture at Coalfields for years, but the Owls made Casuals an offer they couldn't refuse. Also, Krytenians do like a trip to Yeaddin...even if that's a bit of a longer trip nowadays.

Scott STRINGER
Age: 23
Position: Central midfield
Club: Ousevale Borough
The central midfield position is the centre of gravity around which the Krytenian attack orbits, and there are some who felt that young Stringer wouldn't be up to the task. Ousevale fans, though, knew better, with favourable comparisons to the great Ricky Sexton being bandied about amongst the Southern Arena faithful thanks to his sublime skills on the ball. Exploded onto the scene in Cup of Harmony 82; the doubters are now curiously silent.

Diminutive but speedy, Senna is brimming with confidence. Set-piece specialist; there are few in the game better at taking corners. Vdarans don't rate him for some strange reason; Eurans, on the other hand...

Club: Casuals Osteria
The thinking man's wide man. Not the fastest, but knows his angles; could probably cross the ball into the window of a moving car.

Very much built in the mould of assistant manager Cormac O'Neill, Kelleher is a calming presence in the midfield, though perhaps a little more conservative than some would like.

Surprisingly few women make it into the national team squad, despite Krytenian football not being gender-segregated. Quinn is absolutely here on merit, though. An absolute dervish with the ball at her feet.

Sampson, Parsons, Vinelli, Meitner, and now Devereux; the position of “striker called Alex” is in safe hands. Playing alongside the experienced Alex Meitner at Casuals, Devereux has now surpassed him to replace Alun Belmwr in the national team squad.

Used to playing on the left, Valens likes to use the Chromatik forward just behind the front two, looking for space and otherwise creating merry hell for defenders. If opposing defenders aren't leaving the pitch with a migraine the size of Lake Beck, Montalban considers this a failure.

Goal poacher extraordinaire. Give him the ball inside the box and he'll pop it in the onion bag more often than not.

Very much in the mould of Alun Belmwr, right down to English not being his first language. Nicknamed “Monsieur Magnifique” by his team-mates thank to his tendency for the spectacular.

Krytenia's 4-3-1-2 “System Munitis” formation – named after the manager who popularised it – has been a long-standing staple of the nation's football psyche. Valens' twist on it is that he plays a more patient game than his predecessors, putting more emphasis on patient possession than field position. Expect the Dragons to play it short in midfield before looking for the probing pass into space. The number 10 position is a link man between the central midfield fulcrum and the strikers, with the formation effectively flexing between 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 as needed.

Defensively, Krytenia's forward-minded philosophy often leaves them vulnerable to wide play and quick counter-attacks; players will track back quickly, though, so more patient play is likely to find a cyan brick wall.

CAFA 3 Bid: Savigliane
Because two bids wasn’t enough for some reason

The Federation of Savigliano Football presents this bid for the hosting of the third CAFA Cup for your consideration.

Format

The format will be a relatively standard single round robin followed by a single-elimination knockout round, with both stages being ICly held in Savigliane. Four-group formats will be strongly preferred. At least eight teams will qualify to the knockout stages, with sixteen teams qualifying if there are twenty-four or more teams.

Instead of holding a traditional group draw, participants will be allowed to choose their groups via the following process:

All unranked nations will be randomly assigned to groups.
Starting with the lowest ranked pot, each nation in the pot will be asked to submit a ranked-preference list of all the groups. Nations will be provided with a list of the current members in each group. Nations will be assigned to groups in ascending order of rank, and all nations will be assigned to their highest-preference group still remaining.
In the interest of expediency, nations will be given 24 hours to submit their list; any remaining nations in a pot after time elapses will be randomly assigned.

Scorination

Scorination will use Legalese’s spreadsheet scorinator from CAFA 1, with the same parameters, which Legal has generously provided to me separately. Cutoffs will occur every forty-eight hours at a time to be determined later.

Group ordering will be determined by the following list of criteria:
1. Total points
2. H2H points
3. Goal Difference
4. RP Bonus (IC-ly a coin flip)

RPs

RP Bonus will be cumulative and generous, a n d f a v o r q u a l i t y o v e r q u a n t i t y. The distribution of all RP bonuses given will be posted at the end of the tournament as a histogram, with information about the median, mean, maximum, and minimum bonus provided as well.

Imagine a classically warm nation with beautiful scenery, olive trees, and most of all, delicious noodle-based foods that have become so engulfed in the country's tradition that every surname in the country is, at the very least, some kind of foodstuff. It's a Cucinan thing. It's a very idyllic place to live, and one that, post-Relocation, found itself with lots of neighbours. When they did find out that said neighbours, too, enjoyed kicking around a few footballs, they decided to send their 23 best players in the hopes that their players might be able to have fun on the pitch and export Grande Cucina as a destination to the world. Oh, and this time perhaps to try and convince the rest of Anaia to buy their pasta, tomatoes, pasta, noodle exports, chicken, fish, pasta, and so on. All free-range.

Four years ago this team somehow managed to escape the Group Stage while holding Krytenia to penalties in the quarter finals; then a lack of funding (read: corruption and a general sense of tardiness, but really mainly the corruption resulting in there being a sense of tardiness in grabbing the funds together — they were about thirty thousand dollars short of the thirty thousand dollars required to be able to send the team to Krytenia, so, y'know, not by much) resulted in them missing the second edition. Now they've managed to scrape together enough funds to send the Golden Foxes back for another shot.

Young, temperamental and maverick manager Antonio Prezzemolo has been given the reins of the team. At just 46, the young manager, who has a penchant for utilising wingbacks as the focal point of attack, is looking to blitz opponents with fast-placed wingplay and verticality on the pitch. It's worked before, somehow. Maybe they'll try again.

Home, away, alternate. Home kit inspired by President Benedetta Tagliolini saying that in her re-election campaign she "loved running through fields of wheat without any shoes on". Somehow she won. Away kit inspired by the Anaian regional colours, plus a few extra neon colours that fashion designer Eugênio Canestrato promised would make the kit "pop" and "look estremamente fantastico". Has had an extremely lukewarm reaction. "Too much purple" is the general sentiment, though when surveyed the public ended up just designing the home kit as an alternate kit. Third kit was inspired by the President of the FCGC's five-year-old son refusing to eat his pesto sauce off a blue plate and instead spreading it all over said plate. Because the President was also somehow the chairman of the kit design committee, and it's very difficult to say no to the President of the FCGC, his design made it in.

Players

Somehow at the ripe old age of 38 Pappardelle returns, though with his long, curly locks you'd be forgiven for thinking he was only 25. Four years on from his first taste of international football, he's still a personality. Eccentric and beguiling, but always a pleasure to watch (especially for his hair — have we mentioned that bit yet?) Pappardelle will pull shit out of his top locker and get away with it. Nicknamed Il Pazzo for a reason. The goalkeeper kit isn't included here (for everyone's safety), but there are rumours that Pappardelle designed it himself; and that he got the design from the floor of an arcade in Kotzellach City when he went there for a vacation. It, uh, certainly is colourful.

The name of the game on the outfield is wing-play. Pass the ball to the wingbacks, they'll (try) make magic happen. Equally adept at both attacking and defending, Perciatellini and Ditali are the workhorses of the team, often running the most out of anyone on a given matchday. Cut them off, and the whole team suffers. But they're nimble enough to not get cut off, anyway. Ditali returns from CAFA 1; Perciatellini is new to the national team. Which is why his backup is, uh, thirty-five year-old Gianpaolo Pizzoccheri. Who is rumoured to have gotten on the team by flexing the fact that he "plays in Audioslavia" without mentioning which team in Audioslavia he plays for. The three-player defence sees Struncatura return, partnered with Serafina Quadrettini and Lasagnotte; Serafina is unique in that she is one half of the Quadrettini siblings to have made it as the defenders for AS Divella. Her brother Vittorino is also on this team. Meanwhile Mauro Ferrazzuoli made it onto this team, because, uh, the FCGC president had a dream that Grande Cucina would win the CAFA and Ferrazzuoli was amongst the players lifting the trophy. It's quite difficult to say no to the President of the FCGC, so Ferrazzuoli will be making the trip.

In the midfield, Calamarata and Festoni run the midfield, playing deeper but occasionally venturing forth to lap up loose balls. They both return from CAFA 1. The main progression will be through the wingbacks, though both starting midfielders are more than capable of carrying the ball through the middle of the park. Michelangelo Fiorentine, the teenage sensation and part-time sculptor (parents wanted Fiorentine to get a well-rounded education, and they figured making him do art was the best way of doing it, but instead of sculpting pots like every other student he just kept sculpting football players), starts as a more offensive midfielder.

Up top it's the main man himself Enrico Tagliatelle, scorer of 11 in 7 last time out; he's partnered by on-off girlfriend-rival Angela Tortellini (it's complicated, and involves a complicated feud between the Tagliatelle family and the Tortellini family which will probably be turned into a play by some Tumbran playwright) who's not too bad in front of goal herself. Tagliatelle's a poacher; Tortellini's a deep-lying striker.

Tactical Set-Up

5-3-2, though in reality it's more a 5-2-1-2 than anything. Becomes a 3-2-1-4 in attack, with the wingbacks advancing far up the pitch. It's risky, sure, but Prezzemolo is a 100-or-0 man. Full throttle or no speed. Fourth gear or neutral. You get the idea. It's balls to the wall stuff, an intriguing tactical puzzle for managers to unlock, and should provide a great experience for neutrals.

Home Stadia

While Grande Cucina will most probably never host international matches outside of friendlies (the FCGC, the Federazione Calcio Grande Cucina is utterly and completely skint, and only through government grants was even able to enter the tournament despite the country loving football so much), visiting teams will be hosted in the Stadio della Vale, in the middle of the picturesque port city and capital, Barilla. With a capacity of 41,000, it is not the biggest or most imposing stadium, but supporters will cheer vehemently and loudly for their national team.

With Odell McIntosh requesting a sabbatical at the end of World Cup qualifying, "for family reasons", the OFA scrambled to appoint an interim manager. The natural option would have been McIntosh's assistant Dominic Jordan, but it was felt that his lack of management experience may be a problem. So instead, they appointed ... uh... someone else with little management experience. Isaia Urso does, however, have a long career at a high level to draw from, and a quiet intensity that makes her perhaps slightly more likely to command respect from the squad. Rumour has it that one comment was made in passing about her being transgender upon her arrival at the William Kenterbury Centre of Excellence for training [fun fact: she wasn't supposed to be, but I guess there was some mix-up somewhere years ago, and since Neph RP'd her more as female than I ever did as male, I'm rolling with it] and the offending player was banished immediately with no fuss.

Urso as a player was known for her sublime technical ability, and uncanny knack for unlocking stubborn defences, and it is no different for her as a manager. Her preferred system is not dissimilar to her predecessor, though she has in the past helped players make minor adjustments to their game which have returned dividends. During her brief time at Neahri Angels as assistant manager, she was credited with taking Ernesto Longo to another level -- the twenty-five year old scored seventeen of the Angels' thirty-seven goals last season, from the right wing, catapulting them into the top four of the Rabastor Premier League. She does, however, inherit an aging squad on the whole, and may be reluctant to make wholesale changes until it's clear what Odell McIntosh intends to do after his sabbatical, meaning her impact may not be as pronounced here, where several players are likely at or beyond their peak already.

Cesario retains the number one shirt as the best 'keeper in the Rabastor Premier League, while Teruzuki -- despite playing for a stronger club in Osarese Marcadia -- has to content himself with a bench spot yet again. Urso, however, seems more willing to rotate, as seen in the Rabastor Unity Trophy two months ago, where Teruzuki started roughly half of Osarius' games. It makes sense, Cesario's reflexes are beginning to decline a little after all. Though only a little.

Bucatini remains the third option, and is yet to be pried away from Arcaea County. A trait that allegedly deeply impresses Urso. Could we see Bucatini get a shot at starting a game or two this time out?

Urso has gone for a lean defensive selection for this tournament, selecting no backup fullbacks at all. At Neahri, she and Sonia Bregoli were fond of switching away from their counterattacking 4-4-2 at times into a lopsided system that relied on defensive work from midfield... with the presence of Badawi and Portalet in the squad, it doesn't seem farfetched to think Urso may simply shift systems and get midfielders to cover in the fullback zones, allowing her more freedom to select a wider range of attackers.

The axing of Nagy and Niko should come as no surprise to anyone at this point, given their ages, and one suspects Qanbari retains his position only by virtue of his recent adjustments to his game (following in the footsteps of Roque Acosta and dropping into a deeper-lying playmaker role). Of course, his shift deeper effectively renders Malia Niko entirely superfluous, particularly with Viridiana still looking sharp. Favelli stays on as a dedicated attacking outlet, and likely reminds Urso of herself, while everyone else selected in the midfield will be expected to pull double duty at some point. Against Callistea in the RUT, Urso experimented with a double attacking trident in midfield (Portalet behind Viridiana and Favelli), as well as a modification on the 3-4-3 (using Qanbari behind Fox, Badawi, and Viridiana) against Akach, both to great effect. It would not surprise if she had similar plans for CAFA 3.

The sole addition to the midfield corps is Barciddia's Megan Keane. An odd selection, given her usual position on the right of midfield, but her ability to get up and down the pitch ceaselessly while also possessing a solid 12 assists last season would no doubt be invaluable if Urso opted for a system in which the fullback zones had to be covered by midfielders (likely with Badawi on the other side).

The addition of Longo will surprise no-one, but the decision to drop Vergara, Hyde and Sagna might. Hyde's age works against her, admittedly, but by dropping Sagna and Vergara, it looks pretty clear that Longo is intended to start on the right wing of the Osarian attack. Other additions to the squad include Konomi Usami (a likely replacement for Hyde, given her hold up ability, though her wing play is barely existent), Florent Thuram (a pacy outlet on the left), and Valentino Madera (who defies all understanding of conventional positioning, and is the sole under-25 in the squad).

The inclusion of Madera in particular has raised eyebrows, but the kid has two things going for him: he's from bonafide elite athletic stock (his father Domenico Madera was an elite sprinter before suffering a severe injury in a rock climbing incident; his mother Illythia played football for Callistea at international level; and his paternal grandparents are multiple ANSF champion Hugo Madera, and olympic-level judoka Ariella Melendez), and secondly, he just won young player of the year with a unanimous vote. Urso is clearly hoping to lock him into Osarian football while he's young, before he can opt to play for Aquillian (his country of birth and where he's lived his entire life). Notably, though, he seems capable of playing in any forward role Roque Acosta has asked of him in the past three seasons.

Oh wait, that's only twenty-two players. What gives?

Well... Urso has registered herself as the final member of her squad.

Yep. At 42, she named herself as the twenty-third player in the squad, rather than call up a younger option. The decision has seen her take a lot of criticism in the media, but when questioned on the move, she very matter-of-factly pointed out that "Osarian football is stagnant, the development system is not working as intended, and as a result, I can't call up anyone else because they don't have the requisite tactical understanding to play a style of football like I did when I was a Firebird."

She followed this up by disabusing questions over her physical fitness by stating "I am more than capable of playing the link role in this team if the situation calls for it. Not every player on the pitch needs to be running up and down all the time. This is exactly what I mean about stagnation and lack of tactical development."

Despite ruffling some feathers, many have tipped her to be appointed as the OFA's Head of Development once Odell McIntosh returns. If he returns.

For all the progress that Ázëwyn Fëanáro made with the national team from World Cup 78 onwards - winning the AOCAF Cup and the Under 18 World Cup, reaching the Finals of the World Cup, Under-18 and Under-21 World Cups - it was the World Cup 90 cycle that saw her downfall. Failing to even make the playoffs as a result of being in a group with Esportivan and IAC champions, she was given an ultimatum: win the 82nd Cup of Harmony or lose your job. The wrong side of a 5-4 thriller to Chromatika in the semi-final proved to be too stern a test, and she left after the third-place play-off.

Five-time World, seven-time Regional, two-time Under-21, one-time Under-18 and one-time Olympic Men's Football champions sounded out several club-level managers from Liga Starblaydia as potential replacements, but ultimately went for an extraordinary candidate: Tlanx-Nulzk Han of Qusmo. The 66 year old two-time Galactico Manager becomes the first ever non-Starblaydi coach of the national team and proves that, now the tricentennial celebrations are over, the SFA is willing to go to any lengths to make that long climb to the top of the mountain once again. As the team approaches its 2,000th match, there's no better time to freshen up the ideas and approach, while still retaining the festival of diverse attacking football that Starblaydi fans have gotten used to. This time, though, it's Tlanxball, baby.

An attacking-focused manager who likes to play a 4–3–3 and advocates for social, political and human rights causes, it's a venture into Tlanxball for the five-time world champions, looking to a well-regarded and, in Saviglane, much-loved coach.

Relatively young and up-and-coming Overdrive 'keeper who's known for fast hands and getting down low. Hasn't had a run of games with the national team yet, but he's as dependable as ever for his club side, even if they are overall kind of average, Sarro earns them at least 10 points extra every season with his performances.

Sporting's keeper has had a decent enough start at youth international level and has now been brought into the side for his first look at the sharp end of top level football. Known for his 'battlefield voice' and constantly yelling at his defenders to raise their game, Valderas is not expected to make many, if any, appearances, but there's nothing like having goalies soak in the atmosphere and keep the starter on their toes.

A dead ball specialist with one of the cleanest strikes of the ball you're likely to see, Soule is the complete modern full-back. Often deployed in midfield for the Daii even at the tender age of 17, the one question on her skills is actually at defending. Though she's often seen as a weak link and targeted by opponents, her record more than speaks for itself already.

3. Oksana Shevchenko, LB/LW, 23 - Beverington Hawks -

Listed as a defender but equally comfortable at your corner flag or the opposition's, don't be fooled by her relatively short stature. She's fast, really fast, and has great skills with the ball at her feet. Low centre of gravity and a quick turn keeps opponents away from the ball, and a killer final ball is ready to unlock a defence or smash in a goal. Along with the renewed vigour of Galdarhim, this makes the most attacking pair of fullbacks in Starblaydi football history.

5. Serafim Tassidis, Captain, CB, 25 - Ionia United -

Tassidis is a tall and powerfully-built defender, but uncannily light on his feet with a superb reading of the game. He's got an educated left foot, too, and has more than enough ability to bring the ball out of defence, or track wide and cover the space left by an attacking full-back with ease.

6, Grzegorz Wójcik, CB, 21 - Hallad Reavers -

Coming through the ranks at the Reavers and already breaking into the first team alongside Mikkonen, the two of them provide a sheer red wall in that defence, but this belies Wójcik's touch on the ball. A combination of aggressive and composed, he looks like a monster but can be a dancer with the ball at his feet. Very young, but with a huge amount of potential.

13. Jose Antonio Marqués, L/CB, 27 - Corinthian Spirits -

Energy: that's the key word to describe Marqués' game, and in the forward-minded 4-3-3 where the full-backs are expected to not only defend but also provide attacking width, verve and overloads down the wings, the relatively inexperienced Spirits player has gotten the nod. The man has energy to burn sprinting up and down the left side all day, but questions still remain over his defensive ability. That'll be no problem, however, if he can maintain his assist rate at club level.

An old-fashioned right midfielder, she's fast and has a wonderful touch on the ball with crosses and set-pieces. Stronger than most give her credit for, Clarke's vision and passing skills will doubtlessly be utilised during this tournament, but she's unlucky that the system doesn't quite gel with her best abilities.

8. Dawn Halleck-Winter, C/AM, 20 - Tabeck FC -

Playing with her head up and always looking to go forward, Halleck-Winter has already excelled for the Under-18 side and is now brought onto the starting eleven to show what she can really do. From late arrivals into the box to long shots from distance, or getting up to support the central strikers and be a key part of the attack, Halleck-Winter has a lot of tools in her arsenal.

15. Natalina Veno, C/DM, 27 - Vecchio Victors -

'They shall not pass' is Veno's creed; give her a section of the pitch to patrol and protect and you're almost guaranteed to see her intercept, block and tackle her way through 90 minutes. Somewhat of a sideways passer with very few expeditions into the final third, Veno is a real water carrier of a player, doing the dirty, unheralded work so others can shine.

16. Nicolaos Leventatos, L/CM, 25 - Samosisos Blues -

Leventatos is the type of left-footed, all-action, all-rounder midfielder that the coach adores across her midfield three. Comfortable playmaking, defending and going forward, he may yet find one part of the game to truly master.

Al Faizan's potential is near limitless: incredibly fast, primarily left footed but also comfortable shooting on his right, he can play anywhere along the front three but his speed and pressing is suited perfectly to Fëanáro's pressing 4-3-3. Fireworks are expected from this kid whenever he plays.

17. Yuri Pukkinen, SC, 21 - Jhanna City -

Playing up front at JCFC, you'd expect Pukkinen to be a big, strong centre-forward type, but in fact he plays what everywhere else could be called the 'False 9' role, dropping deep to bring in the players around him, relying on movement and cleverness to create goals, rather than being the one who bangs them in. He'll offer something completely different to other strikers when he makes appearances, be it as a sub or in the matches against lesser-regarded opponents.

18. Asimodeo Fiola, SC, 28 - Tuncastle Rovers -

It's always a tough work-rate at the Rovers, and Fiola has played himself into both the shop window and the national team picture with his excellent recent season at Tuncastle. Preferring to break the offisde trap and play between the lines, he can be an absolute handful against a rigid defence, popping up all over the place in seemingly acres of space.

Play style
The 4-3-3 was Fëanáro's go-to formation from youth teams right up to the senior side from World Cup 78-90, and the SFA's appointment of Tlanx-Nulzk looks to continue that trend, as they have long favoured that formation. The 4-3-3 relying on a high press throughout the team, with the majority of width and attacking verve from full-backs (2 & 3). The three midfielders (4, 7 & 8) will look to overload and control the centre of the pitch with short, sharp passing. Whether adopting positions as wingers or strikers, the wide players (10 & 11) will be working in concert with the main striker (9) at all times, in both attack and a high pressing game as a unit.

Weaknesses
The 4-3-3 offers great tactical flexibility, but relies on two things: instant decision making (particularly from the midfield) and the front three operating in unison. Exploiting any miscommunications from the front three to expose, isolate and play through them can key, and forcing the midfielders to make tough choices with passing by pressing them or overloading their options can make this game plan fall apart. Attacking the full backs can also work, but be careful of the double-pivot that covers this option. Other winning strategies of your choice are also available.

Four years ago Kotzellach decided to try its hand at international football. That didn't go so well, and the Kotzellachian Football Association (KFV Kotzellacheriche Fußballverand) decided not to send a team back to the second Krytenian edition as they decided to re-evaluate the entire Kotzellach football programme as a whole. And after three and a half years of deliberation...the result is that the programme is going to continue. Like everyone expected. Hopes and expectations are, again, low; but at least expectations are properly tempered this time.

Bernard Schöber returns; the wily old fox employs a 4-5-1, preferring a solid, defence-first approach and overloading the midfield with players. The tempo when they have the ball is fast, utilising overlapping wingers.

Setup

The team plays a 4-5-1, though 4-4-2 and 4-1-4-1 and 4-4-1-1 isn't out of the question either; the only constant is the low line and willingness to soak up attacks, then using long balls to begin quick counters. Out of possession, heavy pressing is utilised; Kotzellachian players tend to enjoy closing down opponents, particularly on the wings. Attacking centrally is the key here; but an overloaded midfield will force teams to skip the midfield and go straight for the defence.

Cocoabo #86 is truly the star of the Cocoabo Squad. Although the Cocoabo Squad have not participated in a full World Cup campaign since World Cup 80, Cocoabo #86 continues to receive the occasional call up to support the World Cup Rosters and was credited as a reserve player during Turori's World Cup 88 Championship Run. Due to the fact that Turori itself does not historically participate in regional competition, the Cocoabo Squad align independently at the regional level of multiversal footsport.

Cocoabo #86 most recently appeared on the World Stage in the Foxchester Breakaway nation of Krytenia on the penultimate matchday of World Cup 88 Qualifying. Cocoabo #86 also started the second game of the World Cup 87 Finals completing a shutout against the Independent Athletes from Quebec for their teams only victory of the tournament.

Cocoabo #86 was already in Chromatika for the World Cup 88 Finals and, along with a handful of others including Cocoabo #46 and Cocoabo #91, will not require additional transportation to participate in the tournament.

Non-Violent Milchama Announces First CAFA Roster

Non-Violent Milchama announced their first ever CAFA roster for the third CAFA tournament, the first tournament that Non-Violent Milchama is participating in ever. The Non-Violent Milchamians are happy to see their team finally play in an international tournament after showing up in their very little covered domestic league over the last few years. Non-Violent Milchama not being a particularly sports crazy place, there has been some coverage but little of it mainstream. The team is hoping to change that through a good CAFA.

Here is the roster of the Non-Violent Milchama Satyagrahas:
Formation 5-4-1 (-2)

Coach - Merideth Plairn - She was the only person who applied to the coaching job on the NVMFA website so she got the job by default. She's known for baking some fantastic cookies, believing the best offense is a good defense, and hating Legalese and Huayramarca. She's actually not a bad coach despite not having any experience before this job.

GK: Mario Maternena - Good goalkeeper. Fine shotstopper, good at crosses, bad at playing the ball with his feet. Good thing he hoofs it everywhere and whenever it comes near him.
D: Maria Maternana - Not related to Mario (see their last names are different!) Maria is a solid defender but doesn't go forward very much on offense. If she's wandered across the forward halfway line then either something has gone wrong or she's been subbed out and the sub bench is on the other side of the line.
D: Don Dan: Stoic. Says little but does a lot. Very tall and hard defender.
D: Tellervo Saaristo - Captain of the squad. Saaristo is a do it all defender and the only defender who goes forward to attack on a consistent basis. Despite being the center of the line, she often plays a step forward to cut off attacks.
D: Ranjit Chadda - Won best defender in the last season of the NVMFL and wants to prove his worth on the international stage. Known especially for his brilliant long passes, Chadda, should be a key part of the hoof and hope offense.
D: Ethan Hans - Hans is a very speedy defender. Not always the best on one on one situations but his speed always puts him in the right places and his ability to clog up space is legendary. Many times it looks like a striker has space before a last ditch from Hans puts the ball away.
M: Neha Viswan - Speedy winger with a penchant for good crosses. Sometimes can act as the second striker but often is used to create width on the same side of Maternana.
M: Rodger Rogers - Central midfield dynamo and general. Known for scoring some special goals but usually a hard working midfielder in the center of the park, sniffing out attacks and creating new ones for the Satyagrahas. I've been told to type that he is quote, "A Stephen Gerrard type."
M: Miller Daily - Known for making bread on a daily basis.
M: Darius The First - Not his real name but whenever people use his actual last name he gets annoyed so we just go with it here. Despite the regal pretensions, Darius is actually good at football. He scores goals at a regular rate for his club and is only in the midfield here to get his talent into the game. He wants to get better and thinks CAFA is the way to do it.
F: El HaMaayan - He's going to the well for more goals! Big, fast, strong, good at soccer. Unfortunately has a tendency to get isolated but still can hack it in from just about anywhere. Definitely a godmod and really good at soccer.

GK: Fletcher Happon - Fletch happened.
D: Marcus Aurelius - Very stoic about when goals are scored. It's a good quality.
D: Sonya Hontelz - First defender off the bench. Very good at tackling and simple passes.
D: Gary Wenton - Definitely a defender.
D: Troy Gilliam - When not animating new things he is pretty good at tackling opposing strikers. Sometimes mediocre against midfielders though.
M/D: Marius Eimperator - Will be a starter at some future CAFA but for now is just good at soccer. Sometimes plays defensive midfield if it makes more sense for the Satyagrahas.
M: Mary Lilt - Very small midfielder but makes up for it with speed, incredible dribbling, and quick thinking. Very rarely taken off the ball through pure physical pushing.
M: Dane Chef - Better than Dane Cook at just about everything football related. He is a chef you know!
M: Nyan Catch - As you can tell as I get more tired these roster names just keep getting weirder. So it goes.
M: Monty Python - A snake. Good natured snake but can't speak English and nobody on the team speaks parseltongue so sometimes has some communication problems.
F: Mantas Naidicas - Tall goal scoring forward. Usually is subsituted late on in games the Satyagrahas are trailing to provide an extra striker as Non-Violent Milchama switches to a 4-4-2.
F: Lihuzan Gegievy - The lightning part of with Naidacas of Ghandi City FC's incredible Thunder and Lightning scoring combo. Seems to score goals for fun in the league, people are unsure if that can translate to international level based on his stature though he is looking to move abroad.

Do whatever except have these players commit violence (even in self-defense) It is NON-VIOLENT Milchama after all. Slide tackles or general physicality in a soccer game is cool, it's the extras after the whistle that shouldn't happen.

Former Saltsteadish youth team director and interim head coach during the nearly-tragic Cup of Harmony 74 campaign, Van Åupħen has secured the position of head coach after nearly guiding Saltstead to the Cup of Harmony quarterfinals and the final of the first CAFA Cup and now has the job of sustaining the performances which got her the job. In many ways a formative part of the Stallions’ early history, the Halsinger has made her mark on the National Eleven by adopting a greater focus on the neglected counterattack that won the Confederation plaudits in years gone by. Van Åupħen has retained one of her predecessor’s co-assistants, with fitness coach and former Stallions midfielder Clement Kolen promoted to be Aleksänder van den Bergen’s partner on staff.

The default Saltsteadish strategy can be summed up in one phrase: “the best offence is a good defence”. The Stallions play a highly opportunistic attack, lying in wait for an opportunity rather than charging head-on, with possession mostly confined to the midfield. Saltstead prefer to play a passing game in possession, while attempting to pry the ball away from the opposition when not, either by intercepting a pass or tackling players. The Stallions will attempt to frustrate and infuriate the opposition and are unashamed of playing for draws and advancing via penalty shootouts.

Cheboan national team

Cheboa is a roughly squared absolute monarchy located somewhere in Anaia. It it led by two monarchs, who each rule one half of the kingdom of Cheboa. Cheboa has a very small population, which is divided into the two aforementioned kingdoms. The kingdom that controls the first four rows is known as the white kingdom, while the kingdom controlling the last four is known as the black kingdom. Or the other way around, depending on how you look at it. After decades of waging war against each other, the two kingdoms have united to found the Kingdom of Cheboa.

Starting Eleven:

GK: Eisenmann, King of the White Kingdom
The two kings of the respective kingdoms are not exactly fast, but are still very agile, making them ideally suited to play in goal. Eisenmann got the nod for the starting job because the White Kingdom tends to be more reactionary, allowing their units a faster reaction time.

LB: Friedrich, Bishop of the White Kingdom
Both kingdoms know a clergy, and while they spend most of their time debating the opposite’s kingdoms religion, they are surprisingly similar in nature. Both the White and Black kingdom have a bishop focused on defending their respective kings.

CB: Gustav the g-Pawn
Gustav, officially part of the Black Kingdom, has always been a hard worker focused on protecting his monarch. Like any good pawn, he doesn’t care much for the kingdoms; he signs the song of the man that controls him.

RB: Frank, Bishop of the Black Kingdom
Frank is just like Friedrich, except he is part of the opposite religion (it’s actually all the same religion)

DM: Daniela, Queen of the Black Kingdom
Daniela, the queen to the black king, is able to be all over the pitch insanely fast and has to be accounted for at all times. She is loyal to her king, and has a lot of control over the kingdom; possibly even more than the king himself.

LM: Arnold the Rook
Standing tall and barely manoeuvrable stands Arnold at the edge of the White Kingdom. It’s going to be difficult to get past him.

RM: Helmut the Rook
Like Arnold, Helmut stands at the border of the white kingdom, shielding it from threats.

AM: Dmitry the d-pawn
A servant of the black kingdom, Dmitry is usually quick to the action, but he easily gets stalled. Like Gustav, the kingdoms are more of an afterthought for him.

LF: Bernd the Knight
Bernd is part of the black kingdom, and tends to be used in attacks quite often. His evasiveness and strong armor make him difficult to take down, although he is best suited to support attacks.

CF: Diana, Queen of the White Kingdom
Like Daniela, Diana is a loyal queen to her king, but while Daniela tends to play defensively, Diana is often more aggressive, and will attempt to win games on her own. Like Daniela, she enjoys enormous amounts of power, but she needs help to get things done.

RF: Caspar, Bishop of the Black Kingdom
Different to Frank and Friedrich, who are the defensively-minded pieces close to the king, Caspar is closer to his queen, and can be a viable asset in attacks.

Emerging from a bloody civil war that saw Pyazhnaya shake off the shackles of communism, the country is now opening up from its forced isolation, trying to form ties to the international sporting community. For many Pyazhnayans football was the one pastime that united them, despite the corrution scandals that had shaken the league for a long time, with the communist leaders moving players around to their favourite clubs and quenching opposition. Several clubs were dissolved after the war was over and now the Pyzhnayan Football Federation is picking up the pieces and trying to unite everything and everybody. The Xannerian National was the national team's first venture onto the international stage, but the first edition of CAFA in Legalese was the first official tournament of Pyazhnaya, where they were only knocked out by Saltstead in the quarter finals. They did, however, gain the attention of the international football community in their participation in the Baptism of Fire 76 tournament, where they pulled off the very rare feat of a perfect tournament, winning it with nine victories in a row, securing Pyazhnaya a record in the tournament's history books. The qualification campaign for World Cup 89 did not quite continue in the same vein, with the Phoenix finishing in eighth position with a still respectable 21 points. Now they are back for their third CAFA in the hope that they will be able to rise from the ashes of a disappointing World Cup 90 qualifying campaign!

Aleksandr Zavrashin - 42
Aleksandr Zavrashin's spell as national coach for Pyazhnaya has proven to be a very successful one with the nation's victory at the Baptism of Fire. Employing a flexible 4-4-2 that allows the players freedom to roam depending on the situation in the game, it makes the islanders very difficult to prepare for, even though they still have a few issues with sometimes being too unpredictable even for each other, but also given the young ages of many of the first team players, this is something that more experience should be able to alleviate.

GK Maksimilian Chupov - 20 - Shakhter Khilvoysk
Despite his young age, Maksimilian Chupov is the probably best netminder in Pyazhnaya with catlike reflexes and good aerial prowess. His main weakness is the command of his defense, which is due to his inexperience, but exacerbated by the fact that three of the four players ahead of him are 21 and younger as well.
LB Vasily Fanin - 20 - Torpedo Krasnograd
Lightning quick on his feet, Fanin is a left back of the modern school, fast to move forward and back, with a knack for nice crosses into the opponents' box. However he still gets caught out of position too often and then has to scramble back.
CB Ulyona Khomkolova - 22 - Emberton Hibernians (KRY)
From champions FK Vselitamak, Khomkolova is as uncompromising in challenges as they come. Her grace has been likened to a disgruntled rhino before morning caffeine, but does she ever get the job done. Don't expect any technical finesse or beautiful ball distribution, if you find yourself within a few feet with her, either be very quick or ready to get closely acquainted with the grass underneath. After a bidding war in the last transfer window, she signed a contract with the Emberton Hibernians in Krytenia.
CB Valentin Annenkov - 23 - Mazhny Park Severoyarsk
Where Khomkolova is the brick wall, Annenkov is a hidden playmaker in the back. Pundits have said that when footballing magic was handed out, he stepped in front of Ulyona and got her portion as well. Nimble footed and with a great eye to open up the game from the back he can take on the role of a defensive midfielder, going with Zavrashin's directive of flexibility. He is, however, relatively short for a centre back, which can pose issues for a more kick and rush orientated offense.
RB Maksimilan Trukhin - 27 - Straton FC (TMB)
For most parts of the game he is almost unnoticeable, but that does not mean that he is not playing well. Immensely efficient in defensive play, he often shies away from venturing too far into the opposing half, but he knows how to shut down oncoming traffic by suddenly being in the right spot at the right time.
LM Gennady Burtsov - 31 - Advance Alara (KOR)
One of the more experienced players in the squad, Burtsov had been a mainstay for Prizrachnaya Brigada for many years before making the big step into Ko-oren. Equipped with a horse lung he can run up and down for 90 minutes and barely break a sweat, running the opposition ragged. Not a magician on the field, he is one of the players necessary so that others can work their midfield magic.
CM Andrey Guslyakov - 20 - Prizrachnaya Brigada Cherniy Zamok
One of Pyazhnaya's raw diamonds, Guslyakov is the magician that a player like Burtsov allows to shine. Fleet-footed and graceful he has all the tools to become a bonafide playmaker that can dance around an opponent like it's nothing and also has a great shot. He just needs to bulk up a bit and work on his decision making, which at times can be a little, let's call it, surprising. Even for his own team mates.
CM Timur Krasnopyorov - 31 - Marthorpe City FC (FVA)
Another veteran, Krasnyoporov is the safety net for Guslyakov with his ability to shut down oncoming attacks quickly and turn play around. Where Guslyakov's shots are finessed, his are more of the steamhammer kind. He is lacking some precision, but sometimes brute force is just the right tool to get things done.
RM Inna Parshikova - 23 - Dhun Lagarr FC (TKT)
Another player to have eyes on her from different scouting departments is Inna Parshikova, who has been a shooting star during the last season. Literally nobody has had her on their notepads before the season started and now she is considered the next breakout star. Blessed with tactical acumen way beyond her years, she is equally dangerous for scoring and passing, making her a total footballing package as she also is quite capable of withstanding tackles. She was one of the first Pyazhnayans venturing abroad and after a spell in the Squornshelan Remnant States now calls Parakleion home.
FW Vsevolod Bogolyubsky - 21 - Robur Astelo (SOR)
Seen as the brightest Pyazhnayan forward prospect, Bogolyubsky has made some great progress since his transfer to San Ortelio and has taken over as second starting forward next to Larisa Nekrestyanova, not least due to Svetlana Ananyeva's decreasing speed that now is making her a great and dangerous impact sub. Bogolyubsky is Surprisingly quick and agile for a forward of his size, with a towering aerial presence and a much improved scoring record since his move.
FW Larisa Nekrestyanova - 30 - Vilharady Owls FC (TKT)
The second player playing in Tikariot, Nekrestyanova has convinced management in Vilharady so much in her brief stint during the second half of the TPL season to secure her a starting position for the upcoming season. Not so much a born goal scorer, she can weave her way in and out of the penalty box and is great to lay off the ball for oncoming midfielders or put sharp crosses for conversion. She is, however, also adept in scoring, making her an all around offensive threat.

The all-female squad that will represent the Karodin Tetrarchy in its first CAFA, led by Izolda d’Argentré, represent the first exposure of Karodinians to the lands that surround them in Anaia, and likely the first chance for many Anaians to learn about them. It’s not been long since the Karodinians first realised there were nearby lands outside their borders after all, rather than just terrifying wildlands.
