ÆTV presents Ænglidsféstival

After decisions by ÆTV, Aenglide will be announcing Ænglidsféstival. This will be the National Final for Aenglide to determine who will be the entrant to represent Aenglide at Worldvision. The first Ænglidsféstival is planned to take place before Worldvision 97. Ænglidsféstival will be announced if planned to be held, but Aenglide may choose to internally select if necessary. Ænglidsféstival will have a shortlist of five songs that are selected for choosing. The voting will consist of international juries voting. More details will come near to the time of Worldvision 97.

World, stop voting now!

Semi Finals 1 & 2 for the Landa vy Polkopiya have both concluded, meaning that it's time to reveal who will be qualifying to the Grand Final for a chance to win one of Polkopia's biggest annual music award shows in the country. The winner of the Landa vy Polkopiya will have the opportunity to represent Polkopia at the Worldvision Song Contest - the largest music competition in the multiverse! This edition, the Landa vy Polkopiya drew interest from eight different nations, with each of them sending a team of music experts to vote on who was to qualify for the Grand Final. The two qualifying acts from each semi-final are decided in this matter, whereas the Wildcard spot is awarded to a non-qualifying entry that the Polkopian jury feels as if though it deserves a place in the Grand Final. With the four qualifiers and one Wildcard spot, there are to be five acts competing in the Grand Final, each of them vying for the top spot in the competition.

Semi Final 1 Votes:

The following scoreboard shows the results for Semi Final 1. Juries from Britonisea, Elejamie, Malta Comino Gozo, and Scotatrova, and have all voted in this semi-final.

Tobu for WVC

Hello! I'm Tobu; many of you know me, but for those who don't, I've been in WV for a while now (since WV27). I've also had plenty of experience in the Committee, having been on and off for a number of years now, and have worked to make WorldVision less restrictive and more open, from rewriting the OP for a friendlier tone and format, to revamping the rules system to stop the needless and overdone application of one-contest bans that was previously in place. I have also been involved in a number of prominent Discord server moderation actions, helping to keep the server a friendly space for discussion and creativity. There have certainly been some tough decisions, and I make sure that I do not favor friends in mod decisions- though recently I have become aware that I may have overcorrected in a incident from a while back, where a warning should have been issued to someone who had offended many of my close contacts, so that is certainly something I am taking into account for the future and plan not to repeat.

Returning back to the contest in itself, I have strong knowledge of the various rules and processes that the WVC uses to run WorldVision, and have helped many new WVC members learn how to run the contest. I hope to continue doing my part in the community, with open ears and an open mind to new ideas and potential reforms. Working with this past WVC was an exciting time and I would like to thank Nekoni for his work over his tenure, especially in terms of fine-tuning the televote calculation sheet. Thanks for reading!

Committee Bid

Hey all, Scotatrova here, but everyone else just calls me Scot. I've decided to give this another go around. I debuted back in WV72 and have had mostly continuous appearances since, and I currently dont plan on going anywhere. I will say that this term with my fellow committee members was definitely a learning experience, especially being my first term. I can say that it was a fun learning experience and I now have a better understanding of the effort and responsibility that is required. This definitely plays into certain situations that have occurred recently when committee action was required. Making sure that this community remains a safe space for all where we can have fun and be ourselves is a top priority. In the unfortunate event that punishment needs to be dealt, it is definitely important to take in mind the penalty of it. Discussion and perspective on how to deal with these punishments is also important, that way we can all come up with an appropriate solution. I'm also for more communication between prospective hosts and the committee, especially when it comes to the deadlines and televote reveal so that we don't have situations where everyone is waiting on the host to manifest online and begin the voting process/closure of the televotes. While this isnt a necessity, it would be a nice thing to have so that any confusion on deadlines can be made clear from the get go. Overall, I'm glad to have learned what I have from this previous term and hopefully I can bring it with me into future ones! One last thank you to my fellow committee members of this term, Tobu, Malta, Ele and Nek.

Hello everyone, I'm Anta and i'm a lover of all things beautiful. I debuted way way back then in the 44th edition, and now WorldVision is in their 96th edition already! Time sure flies. If i have to be honest, WorldVision has changed a lot since i debuted (or even since their inception), mostly for the better. Entries have gotten elaborate, people have written a novella-sized RP to complement their entry, and so on, and if i have to be honest, i am glad all of that happened.

Being a part of WorldVision Committee in the past was truly a wonderful experience. Being a part of wonderful, multitalented individuals who dedicated their life and pastime to make this song contest a better place helped and improved me to understand WorldVision better. However, everytime i wanted to apply again afterwards, there were some unlucky moments that provided to be an obstacle for me (Such as me having sickness the edition you're supposed to participate, in order to submit your candidacy). Having learned from my sickness and my mistakes, i am inviting you, as a participant of the WorldVision Song Contest, to adopt me as your Committee member, the same way every single one of you wonderful people adopted me as a fellow when i debuted.

My vision and mission is related to my love for all things extravagant, which include:

  • Fun: The cornerstone of WorldVision Song Contest should be where everyone has some fun with each other, with no hard feelings. Being a Committee Member will allow me to ensure that everyone has fun participating in WorldVision. We have seen so many nations gone because they felt unwelcome, and i want to provide an opportunity to mediate and give advices to those nations, so that a win-win solution can be reached, and every nations experience the same fun we all had.
  • Fierce: Committee members should be stern regarding rules, and ensure that everyone has the same treatment when it comes to punishment (not the other kind, if you know what i mean). Even if you're a new nation or you're a veteran, everyone is treated the same when it comes to law, and as such, i will invite all WorldVision participants to report things that they feel break the rules, so that a solution can be reached, which may or may not include bans.
  • Fabulous: WorldVision is a celebration of all things fabulous, a spectacular eleganza extravaganza which celebrates every songs, whether you're sending a Diva Anthem, Edgy Alternative or Passionate Power Ballads. WorldVision helps provide an outlet to celebrate our creativity, and potentially introduce nations to popular and obscure artists, through the combination of measures mentioned above. I, alongside the other commitee members if i get chosen, will strive to make this happen.

I'm sure this manifesto is not perfect to you, but, when my opinions and my passions are already said (as in the statements above), then that's perfect enough for me. Thank you everyone, and i hope you all have a great day (or night, wherever your timezone is).

I am once again asking for your Committee support

Postby Elejamie » Mon Jan 03, 2022 11:30 am

Hello, I'm Elejamie. Or Ele, EJM, Placely Placington, or whatever you want to call me. And it's about that time again where we vote on who'll be on the Committee. And I've felt that I feel like another five contests on it would be a good idea and, thus, I'm deciding to run again. After all, WVs 90-94 were some of the best contests I've ever taken part in and helped reinvigorate my interest in the competition after mulling over retirement for a bit. Sure one of the aforementioned contests may have happened before my tenure but we've all got to start somewhere. So, with that, what would I change or do to the contest?

Nothing much.

You may be wondering why the hell anyone would want to vote for someone who wouldn't change much, even if he somehow slipped onto the last Committee with the same promises. And I shall tell you. It's simply we've had people who have been all "rip the system" and "shake things up" in their previous manifestos only for things to remain the same or, worse, they BECOME the system. I'm at least honest enough to admit that I won't really do anything really groundbreaking. And that isn't to say I don't want to change anything, I honestly do, it's just that I've gotten to the point where I don't really feel like anything WILL change. And even if it does I'm quitting after WV100 so I won't be around to see them; I'm only announcing it rather than just straight-up leaving because I've got a few songs I want to use up first for both my main and for Placely. So rather than waste your ranking on the same old bull, wouldn't it just be better to save it for the guy who'll concentrate on what matters before he burns his bridge with the competition?

Depressing tirade aside, you may be wondering what I would actually be doing. And it's pretty much continuing 2/3 of what I said I'd do in my last manifesto. Why 2/3? More on that in a bit. They are:

1. CONTINUED COMMUNICATION

Since I came onto the Committee in WV91 there has been a lot more communication for all parties involved. We've had regular communication, mostly about vaguely important things. Things such as 24-hour warnings, updates on what sort of voting is about to happen, whose bid has won, all that important stuff. Forum-side I've regularly posted messages letting people know when the next competition's started, I've answered telegrams about any questions people had any other such stuff as that. Sometimes it might've been a bit late but at least it got there in the end. Even when I admittedly dropped the ball or was unavailable, my fellow Committee peeps stepped in for me. Either because I asked them to (such as in the case of opening the WV94 OOC thread, which would've been past my already late bedtime) or because they knew well-enough to do it.

2. CONTINUED REGULAR UPDATES

Again, this is going to be kept relatively brief because there isn't much to talk about here, especially since most of it could easily be taken from my last manifesto. Anyway, with me the OP was updated almost every day with a full list of nations, puppets, NFs (and results when necessary) and host bids. If it wasn't being updated it was usually because there weren't really enough new sign-ups to justify having one. Not just that but also the OOC thread for the new contest gets posted 2-3 hours after the end of the previous one, simply because that means we all have time to congratulate the winner and celebrate our results before we have to worry about the next one. Hell, I even work on the OPs in the meantime so it's ready to be posted. If that doesn't show commitment, then I don't know what does.

Now some of you may be wondering what happened to that third point. The "keeping the peace" one, especially with all the nastiness in the server during and towards the end of the 95th competition. The sort that made Nekoni cut all ties with the competition and, in all honesty, is one of the reasons why I'm doing the same. And I shall tell you: Most of the time it happened, it was in channels I had muted for one reason or another or I was otherwise occupied (like how WV95 overlapped a little bit with the World Cup of Hockey, for example). Hell, I'm more than willing to admit that I dropped the ball the one time I could've actually done something. But the thing is that a) I was more than ready to ban someone who's known for being a massive pest by myself only to be told I can't because it'd be an abuse of my powers and b) I did vote and offer thoughts on permabanning one person and a temp banning of another, so it wasn't a completely broken promise. I might have another crack at it if I get re-elected and a fellow Commitee peep brings up how there seems to be a lot of spamming in whatever channel, even if it's just simply putting in a slowdown (which is something we should really be using more), but don't expect me to go all Judge Dredd on them as much as it would work in the long run.

So that's it for my manifesto. Much like the last one, I don't have a whole lot to say really. All I can say, really, is that I'm pretty much a team player who wants to keep this thing organised and running as smoothly as possible, even as I make my departure plans. Because hey, there's nothing wrong with making this place better for future contestants. Either way, thanks for reading my manifesto and a special thanks to everyone else in the last Committee for doing a decent job of running the competition alongside me. OK, take care.

Yet Another Manifesto

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone, most of you know me as Polkopia, or Polk, for short, and I've taken part in Worldvision semi-regularly since my debut in WV22. I've recently taken a small break from the contest, as some of us tend to do, and my return last edition reminded me how much I enjoy this competition. Before I proceed with my manifesto, I wanted to thank Malta Comino Gozo, Elejamie, Scotatrova, Todlichebujoku, and Nekoni, as I personally feel like they did a very good job acting as members of the Committee during this last cycle, and acted appropriately when faced with challenges along the way. While it is unfortunate that some are not making a return to the Committee (albeit for completely understandable reasons), I would love to see this general direction the Committee was headed toward continue, in that the next five editions of Worldvision are fair, inclusive, and fun for everyone who takes part.

I would like to start with things that could be enhanced with the contest altogether. I don't believe that adding any additional rules or regulations would help, as I think that there are already a lot to begin with, and adding more rules would only deter newcomers from ever taking part in the contest. I believe that certain elements from contests in the present are lacking, which were prevalent in contests before. I would like to see a greater engagement in some of the other IC elements on the contest, such as commentary, betting odds, or even roleplays in the Discord server, and I've personally found each to be great fun. We can't force everyone to take part in these, of course, nor would I expect others to, however I fully intend on providing the aforementioned elements in the contest, should I be elected to the Committee. I wanted to say a huge thank you to Elejamie and the Alezian Union for providing commentary last edition, but I would love to see more people get involved. I would also like to work with the hosts of each edition to get a roleplay of some sorts set up in the Discord thread in order to get people more involved with the contest. Lately, with time being a huge factor, I've seen many regulars become much less involved in the contest than in the past, and I see this as a way for allowing those who want to want to become more involved do so.

As I've mentioned, I believe that the previous Committee did a good job in handling some of the unfortunate incidents that occurred in the Discord. I believe that communication between participants and Committee members should be an open-door policy, without judgement, so that each and every member of the contest can feel welcome among likeminded individuals. Of course, we all have some sort of disagreements with one another, but I feel that there is a place and time for such discussion, and aggressive language will not be tolerated in a public forum such as the Discord server. I plan to work with the rest of the Committee members to ensure that these values are upheld and treated with the utmost importance so that the contest remains fun for everyone involved.

Thank you for taking the time to read these points and I hope that you consider me for the role of Committee Member for this upcoming cycle. Good luck to everyone else running, and I look forward to taking part in this upcoming Worldvision!

Committee Elections have commenced! We have changed since the last election to an average rank system, so please rank all of your candidates and send it to the WorldVision Committee, preferably on the same TG as your host votes. You can not vote for yourself in the committee elections, however, if you are a candidate, you can still rank all the other candidates (and this will not affect your average). The five lowest average ranks will be selected for the Committee and will serve for the next five contests.

There are six users looking to fill five spots, and they are:

Again, rank your candidates in order from favourite to least favourite and send via TG:

Code: Select all
1. Favourite
2. Second best
3. Third best, and so on...
4.
5.
6. (don't include the 6th one if you're a candidate)

Sign-ups for WorldVision 96 remain open until the announcement of the host and new committee in a week's time.
Good luck to all bidders and committee candidates!

Thanks

After the recent edition of the Landa vy Polkopiya concluded, and five acts competed in the Grand Final of Polkopia's national selection for Worldvision, it was determined that Poli Vera would make her Worldvision debut with her song, Forever. Although her song placed third with the juries, her song's point total with the domestic televotes was enough to push it over the edge and narrowly snatch the lead, earning Poli the right to represent her country at the upcoming Worldvision Song Contest. More details about Polkopia's official Worldvision entry can be found below:

Poli Vera - Forever
Language: English
Tune: Manizha - Now or Never

Thank you, once again, for everyone who voted in the Landa vy Polkopiya, and best of luck this edition!

Vartugia Decides – The results for this

Image

Our 5 acts have sung, you have voted (somehow) and we have a clear winner. Before we announce our unlucky winner, we will present the full result.

To protect the 34 nations who have voted on this, we will keep them anonymous and instead present all votes together. With no more left to hide, it is time to see who will fly the vartugian flag in wherever the fuck Worldvision will be held this time.

SONG 1
Oh God please turn this off – Singing A Song (This is Shit)

Tulia – Fire of Love (Pali się)

3+1+1+1 = 6 points.

SONG 3
Kevin and the shitposter – Scary

Andrew Gold - Spooky Scary Skeletons (MIDI version)

2+2+3+3 = 10 points.

SONG 2
Lil’ generic rapper – Generic Rap Number 5612

Future- Turn On The Light

4+3+4+2 = 13 points.

With that, we have two songs left to reveal. It was tight as the winner got only one point more than the 2nd placed entry on this... national final thing. But we have a winner. Let reveal the loser first.

SONG 4
Shitty Band Name – Please…. No

PingPong - Sameyach

1+4+5+5 = 15 points.

That leaves only one song left and it is....

SONG 5
Why is there a toddler on Worldvision? – Let’s vote for Vartugia <3

Niko Kajaia – Let's Count The Smiles

5+5+2+4 = 16 points.

And with that we... thanks (?) our voters, whomever they are. Now it is time to get last place with zero points.

The Spiritual Republic of Caryton
(CARYTON VIDEO)
A serene & puritan 80s-90s tech agrarian Christian fundamentalist nation with no separation between church and state. Wide prairies, fertile plains, archaic clothing, clean skies, lack of modern influence, universal prohibition, kind societies, and simple austere lives forge the Carytonic identity.
