INDEPENDENT ASSOCIATIONS CHAMPIONSHIP 14
BELNEGAU

Discussion Thread | Host Bid | Signups | IAC Rankings | IAC 13 | Guide to Sports Roleplaying

Hello and welcome to the 14th Independent Associations Championship in Belnegau! This small, medieval principality hopes to provide an unforgettable experience for football teams from across the multiverse.

At the time of this post, we have 37 eligible, non-CTE signups, including 4 puppets. Unfortunately, this falls awkwardly between two possible formats. In the interest of trying to finish the IAC prior to the start of World Cup Qualifying, we will not wait indefinitely for more signups. The group draw will take place at approximately 6:00pm EST (11:00pm UTC) tomorrow (today for some of you), Thursday December, 16th (about 18 hours from this post). If the tournament receives three more eligible signups prior to that time, we will proceed with 40 nations in eight groups of five. The top two teams from each group will advance to the round of 16. If not, and the total remains above 36 but below 40, the most recently signed up puppet(s) will be excluded, and the tournament will proceed with 36 nations in six groups of six. The top two teams in each group, plus the four best third place teams will advance.

RP Rubric:
As the phrase “quality over quantity” is impossibly vague, I wanted to provide some guidelines of what I look for in an RP:
Length: It’s hard to write something of much substance with only a few sentences. Not impossible, but hard. Most high-scoring RPs will consist of at least 2-3 paragraphs. They will spend enough time on their themes or ideas to develop them. They will describe characters and settings in more vivid detail than lower scoring RPs. With that said, I don’t want anyone to feel they need to crank out a novella for every scorination. If you write enough to get your point across, you’ll be fine.

Prose: This is tricky, especially considering that many in this community have a first language other than English. Your work certainly does not need to be highly polished, ready-to-publish writing. That said, higher scoring RPs will, in general, avoid repetitive sentence structure and vocabulary. They will make better use of transitions to aid the flow of narratives and ideas. When using dialogue, it will be clear who is speaking, and to whom.

Relevance: Higher scoring RPs will almost always have something to do with the tournament taking place. This may mean they address match events directly, or merely allude to them. This may also mean that they involve characters who are participants in the tourney, or they may find some other way to tie-in. (I personally am very bad about not following this point)

Formatting: This point has particular bearing on rosters, but can apply to RPs as well. While not the be-all end-all of RPing, making a post that looks nice and makes use of either forum code or images for visual organization can often be difficult, or at least time consuming. While extensive formatting may also prove largely unnecessary for some posts, it does represent an investment of time and effort which will be taken into account.

Creativity: It’s why we’re all here, isn’t it? Higher scoring RPs will bring that extra something special. This may mean compelling character studies, or zany and hilarious turns of events. It may mean writing poetry in place of the more traditional prose. It may mean not presenting writing at all, but producing an image or video for your RP instead. It may mean something that I haven’t even thought to include in this list. As the unofficial history of NS Sports proclaims, craziness is encouraged.
Please keep in mind that while good RPs will often have these traits, they need not necessarily have all of them. There are plenty of very well-executed match reports, for instance, that might not score particularly high on creativity, but do so well at everything else as to make up for that. A post representing an online news post may use formatting extensively to mimic the appearance of a news website, while a narrative post may have no need. There are many paths to a high RP bonus. One thing which will not factor into RP bonus is interaction with RP prompts. They will be given to help provide ideas to write about, but will be purely optional.

Rosters:
All participants are strongly encouraged to post a roster. As stated in the host bid, any nation which does not post a roster prior to the RP cutoff for matchday 1 will not receive its rank bonus until it has posted a roster. You may name as many or as few players to your roster as you wish. If you’re looking for inspiration, I’d encourage you to take a look through the Roster Thread from the last World Cup to see what some others have done. The only hard and fast requirement for your roster is that you include a permissions box as follows:
RP PERMISSIONS
If my opponent roleplays first, they may:
Choose my starting lineup: Y/N
Choose my goalscorers: Y/N
Godmod scoring events: Y/N
RP injuries to my players: Y/N
Godmod injuries to my players: Y/N
Hand out yellow cards to my players: Y/N
Hand out red cards to my players: Y/N
Godmod other events: Y/N
Godmodding, for those not familiar with the term, refers to RPing events that are beyond the bounds of what could realistically be expected to occur in a normal football match. If your star striker scores all four goals in absurdly talented fashion, this is not godmodding. If space aliens abduct the opposing team and your side kicks four goals into an empty net, this is godmodding. You may also include a style modifier for your team. This is a value between -5 and 5 that indicates how your team plays. -5 is maximally defensive, while 5 is maximally attacking. Any nation whose roster that does not include a style modifier will be assumed to want a neutral style modifier of 0.

Venues and other IC information to follow!

You may begin posting rosters and RPs. Please do not reserve posts for rosters.

Changelog:
Edit 1: 12/16/21 Added Groups and Pots, deleted now irrelevant references to proposed 40-team format, added changelog.

The disposition of the lands of Belnegau

Belnegau was first established some 400 years ago, when the Northeast Marches of the Empire of Karl the Great were brought to order during the time of King Henry the Fowler and Otto the Great. The heathens were converted or driven out of the lands between the rivers Saale, Elbe, and Oder, between the Lusatian Mountains and the sea, thanks be to great God. Belnegau is bounded to the east and north by the Margraviates of Brandenburg and of Meißen, and the lands of his Excellency, the Archbishop of Magdeburg, Otto von Hesse, to the south by Wittenberg and the Vogtlands, and in the west by the River Saale, and beyond it Thuringia.

Fast upon the river lies the principal town of Belnegau, which is Mühlenfurt. At the port, river barges and skiffs carry trade from Franconia, Saalfeld, Jena, Halle, Magdeburg, and other places yet further downriver, or beyond the sea. Here, at times of low water, the river may be crossed afoot. In the time of Landgraf Ludwig II, grandfather of Hartwig, there stood a bridge of timbers, but the town neglected its care, and it fell into the river. Regrettable to say, the town of Mühlenfurt is no fit place for pious men. Its council of elders has joined itself to the Hanse of Towns, and concern themselves only with the pursuit of wealth. The people spend their money in taverns and scorn the church’s tithe, and tipplers roam the streets selling ale even on the Lord’s day. On the edge of the town, the Order of St Dominic has founded a house of their brothers to minister to the lost souls of Mühlenfurt. The people of Mühlenfurt are obstinate, and it shall prove difficult, even for the Order of Preachers to free their hearts from sin, but through almighty God all things are possible.
Image

A quarter day’s walk outside of town is the village of Ostfeld, where Lord Hartwig has caused several fields to be prepared, mown short by the peasants of Ostfeld, and stands with benches to be erected. Also there, he ordered that a great tavern be built, which he named Ostfeldshütte. It was to have rooms and space sufficient to house the visitors who would come for the great tournament, and afterward shall be given to the brotherhood of the Order of St Benedict to house a priory. Here, Groups A and B shall contest their matches.
Image

Some dozen leagues from the river upon the plain stands alone the hill of Grafsbühel. Atop the Grafsbühel, is the castle of Ziegelstein, seat of Landgraf Hartwig, and around it the castle town. The castle was first built of stone, but caught fire and collapsed during the youth of Landgraf Hedwig, Lord Hartwig’s father. Lord Hedwig ordered the castle rebuilt in the fashion of the northern plains, using red brick in place of stone. Because of the brilliant red of its walls, and on account of its placement high on a hill over the surrounding lands, it shines brightly at sunrise and sunset, and can be seen from a great distance. At the base of the hill and on the plains all around are many farms growing grains. Lord Hartwig has prepared certain fields nearby to the castle and town for the tournament, as at Ostfeld. They shall play host to Groups C and D.
Image

To the south of Ziegelstein, the land rises in hills and ridges. Here among the valleys the last strongholds of the heathen tribes were rooted out, when Lord Hartwig’s forebears marched with Henry the Lion of Saxony and Conrad the Great of Meissen. Thus this part of the land was called Heidingen. Think not though, that its people are not good, pious folk in these times. Far from the travails of Lord Hartwig’s court, or the bustle of river trade, it is a quiet region. Sheep are raised here, on the hillsides, and cattle in the valley bottoms. As in Ostfeld, Lord Hartwig has ordered that certain pasturage be set aside and prepared for use as football fields, where Groups E and F shall play.

Of the People of Belnegau

The people live mostly in small farming villages, and are devoted followers of Christ. Every village has a parish church, however small it may be. Towns often have many churches, as each guild maintains its own parish, seeking to outdo the others in shows of piety. Castles and manor houses across the land have chapels, where priests may minister to the nobility. Apart from these parishes, monastic houses are also found. Of these, most house brothers or sisters of the Benedictine Order, but there may also be found those of the Order of Carthusians, and lay sisters of the Beguine Order. In the east of the country, land is held in trust for the Teutonic Order, though the brothers, occupied by their wars with the Poles, are rarely to be seen unless collecting their due rents.

Bread and stew is the predominant dish of Belnegau, with roasts of meat or fowl seen only on the tables of the rich. Apart from wheat, barley, rye, and other diverse grains, the fields of Belnegau are rich in wholesome roots. The carrot, turnip, parsnip, neep, and beet are all in abundance here. In the towns, these, along with some little bit of meat, are baked within a crust of bread or pastry, and thus those busying themselves in work are accustomed to take their midday meal, bought from carts or taverns.

About the Manager

Shane Newman is a Baker Park born, who took the chance to become the first NT boss for Havynwilde with an understanding that he would have time & resources to build from scratch. He was hounded by negative media coverage, the unrealisitc expectations of supporters & the governing body, and no investment to correct the dearth of talent in the domestic league. He was unceremoniously fired while out of the country on holiday. He'll consider his time there a learning experience. Was the chief defensive architect for the BPNT in the first three WC cycles.Aged 49 and married with three children--a boy and two girls--he will look to the domestic league for talent by focusing on technique, pace, and positional flexibility.

The Playing XI

#1 Steve Leghorn (Goalkeeper)
Steve Leghorn, that name when spoken in Indusse creates a legendary vibe. If anyone asks an Indussean who's your favourite goalkeeper, they would say without wasting a second that it's none other than Steve. Steve is well known due to his performance and his charitable trust. He's a well known figure in the nation who could be a political mastermind. He started his career in Trau de Mongers FC, a local football club in Southbay which soon died after his transfer. His quality performance in the club got him a direct ticket to Southbay Riveria FC B team and soon into the main team. He played for three seasons for Southbay and won the Golden Gloves award in all the seasons. His omnipresent performance got him into the national camp and get him into the best Goalkeeper the nation has ever seen. After this transfer from Southbay to Dhalopura FC, he's been winning all the Golden Gloves in the participated seasons without giving others a chance to snatch them. He's the real saviour of Indusse, saving the nation from the cannon ball like opponent goal shots.

#6 Sampath Singh Aksinwala (Defender)
The Aksinwalas are a well known wrestling clan in Sindvpore. They are those people out there who smash everyone down who stands against them. Sampath Singh Aksinwala could have followed his family customs and traditions and become a wrestling champion smashing all down like a rock. Well, he had started his sporting career as a wrestler back in his 13s but he slowly got interested in soccer and with his fit physique he was a perfect fit for a defender. At his early years, he always got red cards in his matches since he used to throw his opponents away thinking that he is wrestling. The Local Clubs still gave him chance to play and he slowly changed his wrestling in soccer into total defender football. He started to be known all over Sindvpore and he got another call from Sindvpore FC. He still plays for Sindvpore FC and played a major role in their Liga Prima Victory and FFI Cup Victory. He is now the vice captain of Sindvpore FC and is a really important member of the Indussean National Team.

#13 Mathias Paulson (Defender)
Mathias Paulson born to a wealthy Syrian Christian family in Southbay. He wasn't a soccer maniac or something, who would have started playing for clubs before teenage. He started playing at the age of fifteen for several local clubs including his school and college clubs. After this Sport Medicine graduation from Saint Louis Holiness College in Jawaruyah, he got a mail from the Jawaruyah XI FC for being a defence and fitness co trainer. With his outmost hardwork in the game, he soon won a lot of awards and got a call from Rockies International FC for being their defender. He soon left Jawaruyah for Rockies Islands, it was his perfect defending which let the club rise from Division to to Primary Division tournament Liga Prime. The Team reached top three of the primary division tournament after his arrival and he also received a lot of awards for his play. With his arrival in Liga Prime and as a successor to former Rockies Defender Maryland Bruno (Maryland is his nickname because he used to run a cookie brand called Maryland Food), he got into the radar of National team selectors. He later got the call of the selectors to join the national team camp which was the turnover in his career. He soon became a well known defender in the nation and the captain of Rockies International FC.

#4 Aaron McMuller (defender)
Aaron McMuller, born as Aaron Davis Miller is a thirty two year old defender who earned fame during the early transition period. He started playing for Malta FC at the age of Eighteen since his father was the owner of the club. Eventhough it's an unconstitutional admission to the club, he later got to be the key player of the team. His direct ticket to the club without any obstacles made his way to the national camp easy. His defensive analysis gameplay got famed through out Malta and it's neighborhood provinces of Sindvpore and Cheralam. With the fame rising and clubs waiting to get him to their home, the national team selectors caught on him and added him into the national team squad list. Everything was quick for him, the transition from a club player into a professional footballer. The transition from a rich kid into a really rich earning star. The transition from slow paced defense into quick defense and counter strikes... Everything. He is also known as the only defender in Indusse who has scored 100 goals in their domestic history.

#9 Alexis Budtedjson (Mid Fielder)
Alexis Budtedjson, that's the name of the all in all of pass gameplay. Budtedjson has been a major part of the team in every international match played. He has been scoring goals, defending goals and making ways for goals. A complete footballer they say, he's having the chance to be the next captain of Indusse if he doesn't retire. Alexis was born as a neighbor to Baskar Kumar and has been his childhood friend. Both of them started to chase their dreams together and it was Alexis who got into professional football first. Alexis started his professional career with New Hind City FC B team. His perfect play, in the B team got him into Dhalopura FC. His best career club ever, Dhalopura FC got him into fame and later Gav him the ticket to National Team. He scored his first international goal in his debut match and he says that it's his favourite memory. He later got transferred into Sindvpore FC and has been playing for the team. During the colonial era in Indusse, he started working for the national police force (NPF) and he got promoted into the assistant commissioner of Hind City. His wife, Samantha Budtedjson is a well known tennis player of Indusse. She's currently playing in the NSTT for Indusse.

#14 Djetson Hazle (Mid Fielder)
Born as Djetson Hazlett to Dr. Henry Hazlett and Maria Henry in Sindvpore, Djetson change his surname at the age of sixteen to Hazle for joining film industry since there was a prominent star "Philip Hazlett" existing. He couldn't do much in the film industry, which changed his route into football. He played for the national U-18 team due to his absolutely commendable performance for his club Sindvpore FC. His performance also brought him into the national team and got himself as.a key player. He still plays for Sindvpore FC and took part in the Championship of FFI. He is married to Katherine Hazlett, daughter of film star Philip Hazlett. Katherine is also a prominent film star in Indusse. Hazle also took part in futsal and also tried a hand in hockey. But he later realised that he was made for professional soccer.

#10 Baskar H Kumar (Forward)
The best footballer Indusse has seen, that's what Baskar Kumar is. "If Baskar isn't there then, indusse wouldn't play well anytime soon" says Joseph Moteudi.Baskar Kumar was born to District Magistrate Hariharan Kumar and Adv. Maya Devi in Hind City. He started his soccer experience at an age of twelve playing for his school team. He later graduated for Political Studies and played for the university team. His quality performance for the University got him selected for Hind City FC B team and later to Hind City FC. His performance got him a ticket to the national team and he is still one of the oldest players in the national team. He is the current captain of New Hind City FC and Indussean National Team. He is currently the only player in Indusse scoring five hundred goals and the highest goal scorer in Indussean history. At the time of colonial opression, he took part in the independence movement and became the first and current president (term two) of Indusse. He played a major role in changing indusse from "Demoarchal Kingdom" to "Al shayarid empire" to "Holy Patriarchal Union and Republic". He was invested with Bharatratna award given out by India for the best politician.

#7 Bechun Butea (Forward)
Once the best substitute to Baskar Kumar, now he faces a lot of competition from his fellow mates out there.Born to the family of footballers, Bechun didn't face any difficulty to choose his career. At the age of seven, his father admitted him to a local coaching center and with the basic skills got him into the Sindvpore Football Federation Training Center. Bechun's father was Takawilaka Butea, who got elected as the President of Sindvpore Football Federation. Bechun played his first professional match for Sindvpore FC and got transferred into Southbay Riveria FC. He later scored a lot of Goals opening his way to the national camp. He played as a captain substitute and vice captain of the national team and captain of Southbay Riveria FC until Baskar Kumar joined. He also played a major role in the Goblin Humanoid Project which created Goblin Grundjee, who's the first non human national player in Indusse. A football goblin was Bechun's idea. He also got the National Sports Academy Mentor post and is currently the cheif mentor of U-18 national team. His brother, Lalguvasara is the coach of Malta FC and his son Jackson Butea is playing for Sindvpore FC under 18 team.

#11 Antonio Mersiás (Forward)
The second youngest recruit in the camp, Antonio Mersiás is a well known youth idol in the nation. He was the captain of Indussean youth team in the Sporting World Cup. He led the team into the semi finals of the tournament till they lost to Starblaydia's young guns. He was born in Karadawadi, a county in Dhalopura to Francis Antony, who was a carpenter and Selina Francis. He lived as a poor kid going to the village school who wasn't so good at academics but bright in sports. His quality sporting skills caught the eyes of the headmaster there, who admitted him to the local football training sessions. The headmaster soon send him to the Jawal-Biesse the nearest city for his studies. He played for the Jawal-Biesse FC for three years and captained the team until he was called to play for the Dhalopura FC. He got selected to the U-18 team as soon as he played his first match for Dhalopura FC. His quality play in the club also got him promoted as the captain of the youth team. His awesome, historical performance for the youth team got him a quick ticket to the National Team Camp. He is currently an important part of the national team who cannot be replaced easily.

#100 Goblin Grundjee (Forward)
Goblin Grundjee who is the first ever non-human sportsperson from Indusse. The Grundjee's are one of the families of the Goblin species that was created by the scientists by DNA Modelling. The scientists created a new race of Goblins through gene editing and combining the DNAs of Humans with certain animals and Algae. The goblin species were divided into three families were Grundjees are one of the major part. The other two families are called Mithys and Auris. The current members of the grundjee family is Colonel Grundjee who is a Colonel in the royal army of Indusse. The gene of colonel Grundjee was created by merging the genes of three colonels of the army with the genes of a eagle and the green algae. The green algae plays a necessary role in getting the green Color of the skin. The other member is Goblin Grundjee who is currently playing for the juniors. His gene was created by merging the genes of David Bekem, a former football and of a wild horse. The green algae is also a necessary part of the composition. The grundjee family has the green composition of skins due to green algae. Whereas, Mithys has a brownish red skin due to the presence of Blue-green Algae with Iron sediments, Auris family has the skin Color of a normal human as there isn't any presence of algae. The skin textures and patterns of the goblins are same as the humans and the color is the only thing that can discriminate it with humans. The scientific community believe that the goblin race will create revolution in the world of science. The creation of Goblin Grundjee was overseen by fellow player Bechun Butea who also played a major role in bringing Grundjee as a experimental player. Well, Grundjee is currently one of the best strikers the nation has seen.

About Muralos
Muralos is a cosmopolitan collection of islands collectively known as Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands. It is home to a population of Russian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and indigenous (Ainu and Nivkh) origins. The official language of Muralos is Esperanto- a language designed to be universal and easy to learn- but the population is exceptionally multilingual, with each citizen knowing an average of 4 languages.

The Muralosian National Soccer Team
(also known as the Hawks, after Muralos’ national animal, the Muralosian Hawk)

The Muralosian national soccer team represents Muralos in association football (or soccer, as Muralosians call it). It is controlled by the Muralosian Soccer Association, the governing body for soccer in Muralos. Muralos' home ground is the Komcatt Arena in the capital city of Urbego, and its current coach is Jozefo Koltakov, former striker for CSKA Urbego and later Muralosian national team captain. Hina Kageyama and Pavel Li serve as assistant coaches.

Kits
Unusually, the Muralosian national soccer team elects to use one kit with the national colors of Muralos.
Image

Roster
The Muralosian roster is built around the former Muralosian men's national soccer team, whose members comprise the starting lineup. The starting players were quite young when they joined the roster in 2016. Now, they are tried-and-true forces, who (as part of the former men's team) won the Second International Football Cup in Squidroidia in 2020 after 4 years of not facing competition.

The former Muralosian men's national team and former Muralosian women's national team merged in December 2020 to form the current co-ed team. In doing so, the Muralosian Soccer Association preserved the starting lineup of the former Muralosian men's national team, while adding players from the former Muralosian women's national team to the reserves. To make up for this less-than-ideal arrangement, the Hawks' management frequently starts its female players– including Tanya Lubimova, Rebeka Mori, Aminda Mori, Galina Shchedrina, and Valora Lin– not only in the interests of gender equity, but also because of these players' exceptional skill.

The co-ed Muralosian national team has found success, though it has not earned any titles yet. The co-ed Hawks reached the Round of 16 in the 74th Baptism of Fire, as well as the Round of 16 in the 12th Independent Associations Championship, which Muralos co-hosted with Almuzahara.

Starting Lineup of the Muralosian National Soccer Team
 • #1 Rodion Markov - Goalkeeper - as part of the U-20 Muralosian squad, he was nicknamed "the Prophet" for his formidable accuracy in guessing the direction of penalty kicks and capability to pass very wide, "seeing beyond" any obstacles.
 • #2 Ryo Takeda - Right back - the only team member with Ainu ancestry and hailed as a symbol of Muralosian diversity and Esperantism. (Of course, he is also a great player in his own right.)
 • #4 Aleksandro Kim - Center back - born in Kurilo of Korean descent, Kim moved to Urbego at the age of 13 to attend Urbego's Zamenhof High School and was part of the team that won the FIS, Muralos' premier high school championship, in 2008.
 • #5 Rikardo Lei - Center back - his grandparents were Fengjieans who were doctors during the Muralosian Civil War. (Unfortunately, the nation of Fengjie ceased to exist.) Exceptionally strong defender who played a very large role in the Asian Archipelago Regional Cup, most notably in the match against Elbaron in which the Hawks won 2-1.
 • #3 Koralo Petrov - Left back - another player who rose to fame through an FIS championship. Makes very wide passes and is regarded as a good team player.
 • #6 Mikhail Zheng - Left midfield - part of the same FIS-winning team as Aleksandro Kim. Had a brief stint playing in the Premier League of Li Qing (now the Confederation of Australian States) before returning to become a member of the Hawks.
 • #7 Johano Abramovich - Center midfield - Formidable dribbling skills, also the leader in assists during the Asian Archipelago Regional Cup. Jokingly dubbed "the creative type" by coach Koltakov, Abramovich is known for his long-range, curved shots, which proved useful in Muralos' 7-4 victory against Li Qing in early 2016.
 • #8 Nikolaj Granda - Center midfield - No relation to Walter Granda, who represents Muralos in professional tennis. Despite what his last name may suggest, Granda is a rather petite player. At only 5'7", his shorter stature allows him to be more agile and less injury-prone compared to taller opponents.
 • #11 Vilhelmo Lumin - Right midfield - a cum laude graduate of Urbego National University, where he played in the Muralosian University League, Lumin made his first international appearance as a substitute player during the Asian Archipelago Regional Cup. Following the retirement of veteran Klaus Sverov, however, he joined the starting lineup in Muralos' match against New Zhengguo in the Embassy Cup.
 • #9 Rui - Striker - Born Rui Zhang, he changed his name legally to Rui in July 2014. Remarkably fast and shoots penalties with good accuracy. One of the more underrated members of the team.
 • #10 Adamo Brava - Striker - the 30-year-old team captain, widely considered to be the star player of the Muralosian team and an answer to some premier overseas soccer players. Despite his status, however, he is also known for his maturity and humility, often representing the Muralosian team in interviews and awards ceremonies.

Reserves of the Muralosian National Soccer Team
The reserves of the Muralosian national soccer team are newer to the team. All of the female players joined in the winter of 2020 as the Muralosian Soccer Association consolidated the men's and women's national teams into one.

 • #18 Tanya Lubimova - Goalkeeper - starting goalkeeper for the former Muralosian woman's national soccer team, Lubimova's performance has long been regarded as equal to Rodion Markov's. Her role in the 74th Baptism of Fire tournament, in which she substituted often for Markov, has proven that further.
 • #17 - Ji-yong Park - Goalkeeper - starting goalkeeper for FC Havenurbo, a top-tier team in the men's Muralosian Premier League, usually second to CSKA Urbego. The 24 year-old Park uses "he" and "they" pronouns interchangeably, and they are one of Muralos' most notable non-binary athletes.
 • #28 Rebeka Mori - Left back - played for Nord-Urbo High School and now studies microbiology at the University of Oleo, where she plays for their University League team and works in the biology department's Permafrost Research Center.
 • #29 Aminda Mori - Right back - Rebeka's fraternal twin sister, she plays for the University League team at the University of Havenurbo, where she studies digital art and design. The women's teams of U. Havenurbo and U. Oleo have a long-lasting rivalry, and recently faced each other in the June 2020 women's soccer University League final. (U. Oleo won 1 - 0.)
 • #30 Daniel "Lerta" Donaldson - Left midfield - played for Zamenhof High School and made major contributions to their semifinal and runner-up finishes in 2018 and 2019, respectively. In 2019, he enrolled at the Havenurbo Institute of Technology, where he studies mathematics and plays for the soccer team – reigning University League men's soccer champions. In the summer of 2020, he was invited to practice with the former Muralosian men's national team, becoming the second African-Muralosian player in the team's history and the youngest player on the former squad. Donaldson is now the second-youngest player on the Muralosian national team.
 • #32 - Yonghua Liang - Center midfield - a starting midfielder for the Nogliki Wolves and a former winger for the Muralosian women's national soccer team. Liang grew up learning the clarinet and was adamant about learning a sport that didn't require much arm movement, for fear that she injure an arm and be unable to play clarinet. (This is why she started soccer.) She reached the University League final with the University of Oleo's women's soccer team, and was also in the concert band that performed Muralos' anthem at the match.
 • #21 Georgo Zhong - Center midfield - a current teammate of Lerta Donaldson at Havenurbo Tech and an economics major there. While a student at Nord-Urbo High School, he scored a hat-trick against Urbego High School, securing Nord-Urbo's first FIS qualification in 10 years.
 • #23 Galina Shchedrina - Right midfield - a recent graduate of Urbego National University like starting midfielder Vilhelmo Lumin, Shchedrina has made a splash with her debut in the 74th Baptism of Fire. She is known to play well in high-pressure situations, making accurate passes even when surrounded by opposing midfielders and defenders. Currently playing for the Veriasod Lakers of the Tikariot Premier League, Shchedrina is the only player on the Muralosian national team who is currently playing overseas.
 • #20 Valora Lin - Striker - a starter for the former Muralosian woman's national soccer team, Lin's presence on the new co-ed team is a boon for Muralos' efforts in international competition. She is sure to hold her own against starting strikers Adamo Brava and Rui, and Coach Jozefo Koltakov has considered playing her as a third striker on the field.
 • #22 Daniil Lee - Striker - formerly a defender and sometime striker for Nord-Urbo High School, Lee transferred to Urbego High School this year due to its more forgiving academic calendar. Now-national team coach Pavel Li noticed the 15 year-old Lee's ability last December at a U-20 national team tryout; after the Hawks' exit from the Baptism of Fire, Lee was granted a spot on the reserves as a striker. Lee scored his first goal for the Hawks in April 2021, during Muralos' group stage match against Grey County in the 12th Independent Associations Championship.

The Future is in The Past...

HUElavia enters IAC 14 travelling back in time to face familiar foes in the Group Stage.

Four years have passed since the team's perennial heartbreaking loss in the Final of the IAC, this previous time being against Indusse. Now, four years have passed and somehow, the tournament has a very peculiar host: Belnegau. A country located in 14th century Germany (a nation similar to Breinachia, Marbach, and Kahweil in Euroa), they have won the hosting rights to this prestigious regional tournament.

Fortunately for the HUElavians, thanks to the many advances in HUElavian technology, the team is able to travel back in time to participate in the tournament. Despite this return to medieval times, with collaboration between the HUElavian Football Association and the HUElavian Government, the team will come with several equipment to train well, keep power for commodities for the team and supporters, and have all the material needed to broadcast the match back home. On top of that, plenty of security will be present to protect the equipment, supporters and team during their time in Belnegau.

In the draw for the Group Stage, HUElavia (2) was placed into Group A with the likes of Abanhfleft (17), Muralos (30), Magnecia (UR), New Lustania and the Algarves (6), and Berdeng Bundok (UR). Abanhfleft and HUElavia meet once again in the IAC, last time being in IAC 11 where it ended in a draw. Besides that match, one of the biggest matches of the Group Stage is the one with HUElavia facing off New Lustania and the Algarves, a rematch of the IAC 9 Final (which NLA won) and the IAX Quarter-Finals (which HUElavia won). One of the Lusophone Derbies of the multiverse, it certainly will be one of the most attractive games to watch in the tournament. Muralos was the co-host of IAC 12, which HUElavia spent their run up to the Quarter-Finals there, but will be meeting in the Group Stage. Magnecia and Berdeng Bundok are two debutants that HUElavia will also be playing against.

Coach Conavacio has opted to bring young players as part of the rebuild, which despite the team being notably young, they are still a promising group of players and the team is one of the favorites once again to win the IAC, the one tournament that is obsessed upon by the team, fans, and media alike. In fact, only two players, Fonseca-Mantovani and Sol, are the only players on the roster aged 30 or above. Conavacio stated on his selection "The HFA have stressed the importance of youth in the squad and given that we need new players to lead the team, especially running up to the coveted IAC 15 in a few years, I chose the best young players I could find throughout the country. I have good faith in these players and I know we can make a deep run once again."

With the seedings done, HUElavia will play their opening game against Berdeng Bundok, in a venue that is yet to be announced. With HUElavia in Group A, the team will be playing the "de-facto" Opening Match of IAC 14, which marks the 2nd time the team opens up the tournament (with the other being in IAC 9 when they were the host nation). There still is no confirmation on who will start in the match, but regardless, the team and fans are optimistic for the match and hope for the best. Here's to a great opening game and a much awaited successful tournament!

FORCA HUELAVIA! VAMOS HUELAVIA! GO HUELAVIA!

TROLLEBORG NATIONAL TEAM

Nickname: Trolls

Total official games in every tournament +126=42–57
In IAC +13=5–7

NATIONAL TEAM

Team right now going through a difficult process of generational change. Altought many new players prove themselves worthy in the Melayu Cup games, it’s IAC that will be their first real test.

Image

Usually playing in green, much rarer in white, almost never in the recent history in the red, and only one time ever in blue.

COACH

Morten Troghil is a manager of the team since its creation. After recent trioumph in the Cup of Harmony he has god-like stature in Trolleborg, but prefer not to rest on laurels, and begin to build new team.

PLAYERS

If we take squad from World Cup and CoH and compare to one which will go to the football fields of Belnegau, there was a many changes. Some of the legendary players of the team decide to declare that they “don’t feel like if they can contribute to the national team much more”, that’s counted in other countries as retirement from international football.

GOALKEEPERS

Jesper Krogh (25 years). He spent much of the time in the national team behind Kot Kotsson, but right now this legendary goalkeeper moved aside, with Krogh suddenly becomes number 1 at the Melayu Cup. Player who already prove himself on a league level, fast and good at the second floor, without losing something in his first floor game skills, making some incredible saves in our league, prove himself well in the MC, but nevertheless there was doubts if he is right man for a job.
Finnsnes Soderhelm (30). “Confidence come with experience”, – often said coaches, and it’s close to what happened to this goalkeeper. Having spent full first half of career mostly as backup in the first league teams, he move one floor down and soon return to the spotlight as a reliable and competent goalkeeper. With a lot of experience behing him, he is great in handling things in his domain, always cool-headed even in the most difficult situations, while giving sense of security to his teammates. He is now second choice keeper, much like Gould and Krogh was with Kotsson.
Tomas Kot Kotsson (33). Up to the recent times, it is almost impossible to imagine Trolleborg national team without this charismatic goalkeeper at the number one post. Every success of the team in not a small part depends on him. But right now he declared his preference to be relegated at the bench.

DEFENDERS

Jesper Loonstrup (24). One of the youngest members of the team, he is flank defender in the preferred Trolleborg style – fast moving, adept in supporting attacking moves, willingly throw himself in the way of the ball, aggressive in tackling.
Karsten Lindeblad (24). Robust right defender, fast and strong, with good position sense, he prove himself in the Trolleborg league as worthy opponent even for the best forwards, fighting for every ball and never give up. He don’t have a stable place in the lineup recently, but MC give him chance to prove himself.
Kasper Lejder (25). Sturdy build, he is faster than he look, capable to cope with even strongest and faster forwards defends with class and also participated in attacking play. One of his biggest assets is his self-confidence and calmness even under pressure.
Kelrick Winterbern (24). Quick, strong and versatile defender, hard working and willingly join attacks, masterful when marking and excellent in the air. Can be used in every position at the back line, but most comfortable at the center.
Joran Du Riis (27). Cold-blooded fighter prove that he more than capable holding his own at the highest level. Agile and fast-moving, but solidly builded and used this for his advantage, he prefers play either to the right of center or on the right side, as team needed.
William Schendel (25). Versatile fast moving defender known for his skillful positioning and man-marking, highly effective in breaking opposition attacks, great in the heading, with incredible high crosses-interception rate. Right now he is used as a backup.
Jaan Berg (23). He is one of the Trolleborg players who play in the first ever football tournament for the country, U18 world cup. Man-marker, which have give a tough time to opposing forwards in the league with every opportunity. Having left out of the team at the WCQ, he was again called in after very good season in Trolleborg league.
Rekdal Lundstram (27). Comfortably carries his defensive duties, tenacious fighter and excellent ball winner also good passer, which was allowed him joined attacks productively and adding depth on the left flank. It will be seen, if he is up to the task of fulfilling role of left defender in the international games.

MIDFIELDERS

Brutil Skrta (25). Very complete player, who posessed ability, stamina, flair, technique and resoluteness in just perfect mix. Shows tremendous accuracy when passing, fine distant shooting skills and ability to lost his markers. In addition to that his stamina allows him to help constantly at the back if need arises.
Hendrick Groningen (30). The defensive midfielder, probably the best in his generation, he was not selected to play in BoF and joined team by way, proved himself worthy of a place in the team, caused a lot of problems to the attacking players of the opposing teams. His talent of intercepting ball in the middle and using every possibility to begin attacks was fully appreciated by everyone – apart, probably, of his opponents.
Soren Wittingem (25). Strong player who can run incessantly whole 90 minutes, distributes ball well due to his great passing ability and perfect knowledge of game, and also shows real class at his
defensive duties, as it was extremely difficult to go past him
Kasper Windass (25). Broad and strong left midfielder, he looked a little bit sluggish when moving without ball, but everything changes when he have it. Then he moved extremely fast, sweeping away everything in its path due to his mighty build and usually ended move with a clever pass.
Jorpen Kjelle (24). On of the younger members of the squad, this left midfielder prefer to move almost hugging left-hand touchline. He was as comfortable when playing left midfielder as he is operating as left defender, but right now he hasn’t defined place in the national team. MC give him a chance to make himself visible.
Finn Finnsnes (33). Playing usually attacking midfielder, free forward or link man between midfielders and attackers, he is swift, smart, good dribbler with a great sense of goal possibilities. Having all this, he didn’t make solo runs without need, and has a habit to review every option before doing something, so opponents never know beforehand what he did next second.
Morten Troll (29). He is a brightest star amongst midfielders in the whole country. Genius of game, with a wonderful dribbling, beautiful technique, excellent pass and extremely good shot, he won many games for his local team single-handedly, but also a great team player with great repertoire of tricks. Highly probably, he will be a player of generation, and very probably, best player Trolleborg ever had. He brilliantly justified all the positive reviews even when team performance was rather uninspiring, sometimes won games single-handedly.
Kenneth Pathmoor (26). He can cover a lot of space and conjure goal opportunity for his forwards from nothing. With his pace, agility and an eye for goal everyone agrees he has a bright future. Kenneth is a regular addition to the squad, altought coach until recently don’t give him too much chance and what this clever and versatile midfielder did on the field looked not too good. But in the recent campaign he prove his right to be counted on as a midfielder.
Jesper Lucius (24). With a perfect sense of game, this central midfielder usually can move ball to where it want with only one touch, and he is good with a set-pieces. Some say, he was like a Morten Troll in his younger years, but many stop say so recently. CoH was, probably, his best, and maybe last, chance to prove they are wrong.
Jesper Gronholm (27). Recent addition to the team, he was comfortable down the right flank as either defender or midfielder. Competenly hold his own while in defence, he was willingly join any move forward, where he pass ball quickly and thoughtfully, already prove this in the recent games.
Torstein Halst (24). Right winger\forward, with a good passing, master of highly accurate long crosses and very well making in curved shots from outside the box. Willingness to fight for every ball, spare no effort, and, most importantly, improve his skills is what give this very young player a chance to play for national team.

FORWARDS

Kroonquist, Morten (26). Another addition to the team squad, this fast forward known for intensity of his game, and he is capable to maintain workrate in all 90 minutes. With enviable quickeness he moved very fast, turns very well, constantly pressurized rival defenders, with or without balls, and always trying winning back posession.
Theo Limburn (27). This player was a veritable workhorse in the whole his career. His main talents was fast pace, tremendous workrate and indefatigability, coupled with unquenchable willingness to pursue ball whatever the chances are. He hasn’t too much time on the field in the WCQ, but, maybe, CoH is his chance to prove himself.
Torgeir Berglund (24). Effective center forward in front of goals, having something in common in both Kerr and Gulbranden despite their visible differences. He prove his goal-scoring talents in the national team, but was clearly not convincingly enough.
Torfinn Jivoglot (22). Albeit very young, he is already established player in the Trolleborg league with a very decent play-to-goal rate. Very fast, reading game perfectly, with a strong goal flair in local championship, but not a few times in the recent WCQ he was either too fast or fast enough and waste chances to score the goal. It was looked like it’s his last tournament if he doesn’t improve his performance.
Torben Kranforde (25). Very fast forward, who have special ability to surprise rival defenders. He also posessed a great skill of positioning himself very well, and regularly sent many defenders and goalkeepers into despair with his precise and deadly shots from both feet.
Stuart Kerr (33). Almost legendary player, worshipped by fans, Stuart is the quick, brave and skillful, moved fast despite age, love to puzzle defenders and having ability shot from everywhere in the box right despite defenders best efforts. It was announced that he decide not to play in the IAC, but nevertheless he was compelled to change his decision. But most probably he will be sit at the bench bar things will heading to disaster of sort.

TEAM TACTICS AND GAME STYLE

Team practiced attractive attacking game on a fast pace, and already its style well-known and liked by public. Usually played 4-4-2 with defenders pressed forward whatever possible, or 3-5-2 with a midfielders move back and forth as things dictated. Integral and inalienable part of the team’s game will be mighty pressing, applied whatever on the field when ball is not on our side.

Unsportsmanlike behavior is highly discouraged even if in the interests of the cause, and national team players are required to meet the highest standards possible, so it is completely impossible to imagine a player of the Trolleborg national team faking injury or begging for a penalty. But players are not easily bullied, though, and more than able to stand up for themselves both as individuals and as a team, and have a strong inclination to go tit-for-tat in case of excessive brutality on the opponent’s part.

National psyche tell players to put everything even if odds are heavily against, so almost every match in the league played with high determination, and national team shirt oblige one who wore it for even more efforts – altought it was visible, that players often compeletely lose breath when unexpected setbacks occur.

Style –5.

No, there was no confusion, team played attacking football on the field, while having negative style modifier for a scorinating purposes.

Greetings, compatriots!
It’s TTV from Belnegau, where our football team just arrived to take part in the Independent Associations Championship. It will be fifth such tournament for our lads, and games of IAC was never easy for them – only two times team go besides group stage into playoffs and every time lost at the first round.

Trolleborg team already arrive in the country where the tournament games will be held, the small principality of Belnegau, about which little is known, except that its inhabitants practice a very traditional way of life – according to the latest measurements, they adhere to social conservatism and are very religious, focusing their economic efforts in the agricultural industry. It is not yet very clear how in the principality with the tourist attractions, food, transport, cultural traits, mentality of the people and so on. It was not known what are the attitude of the inhabitants to the foreign people and how much they will like the fans from Trolleborg, so most fans preferred to arrive for the first game of the group stage. However, we understood that this tournament was carried out in great haste, there was no time to put everything in order, and it is good that it is carried at all, for which we are very grateful to its hosts.

In it, our team's opponents will be long-time good friends Indusse, as well as Reçueçn, Silver Beach, New Zhengguo and United Adaikes. In the six seasons of international football our lads meet a lot of teams. But contrary to usual state of affairs, all group stage opponents are not familiar with us, only with Indusse we have ever met before on the field, having played 0-0 at the India Cup. How the radically renovated Trolleborg team will perform in these conditions is not yet very clear. Almost all creators of past successes, veterans of the BoF, at this tournament either intend to watch the games from the stands or have to worn boot, but sit on the bench in them. However, if we take comparison to MC, Morten Troghil did not add new players, so some guesses of how things will unfold and what sort of game our lads will practice, can be made, but perhaps guesses - as we all know, the world of modern football is full of dramatic twists and turns.

The Starsian National Football Team is The 14 Stars's national squad in association soccer competitions for national associations across the entire multiverse world of soccer.
There have been alot of changes since their last appearance in the World Cup 88 qualifiers, the sole governing body of the Starsian soccer industry had been disbanded and replaced by the Starsian Soccer Association or SSA for short.
Along with this the special techniques and post-human capabilities of the Starsian players have been banned from all competitions and by the domestic association after what happened in the Starsian - Vilita match where it was shown that this power was too dangerous for the sport and shouldn't be used.

Lastly alot of the old guard had been replaced, everyone in the old team was almost 30+ with mid-tournament a few younger additions although it was of no importance anymore.
Only Maximillian Flare, Alan White, Morris Valerian and Nicolay Moon are remaining from the original squad.

Marcus Blade after the disgraceful presence was fired as the team's coach, although there was a problem that the new association had forgotten to look into before doing this.
They forgot that there was a lack of proper coaches and there currently were aside from Marcus Blade and his staff no good coaches with the ability to manage a team at such high level.
This was solved by looking abroad, in Eshialand where The 14 Stars had their debut against the industry was also in need of more opportunity to improve and increase skill.
James Landry and his companion Steven Young were asked by the association and they agreed to manage the Starsian side and hopefully lead it to new heights.

Tactical Set-Up

The Starsian side is a very skilled team with a very high team chemistry and morale combining it with their quick paced game they are an opponent for all teams to watch out for due to their offensive style.
They play in a 4-3-3 which through the match can be changed to various other formations suiting the game that they play however they are an offensive team loving to have possesion of the ball.
It is know the Starsian team loves game control, taking the initiative and play their best, they are more willing to play a great game of soccer rather then simply getting a good result.

Left Corner Taker: Dylan Diam
Right Corner Taker: Becky Ray
Penalties: Maximillian Flare
Direct FK Taker: Maximillian Flare
Indirect FK Taker: Morris Valerian
Most likely to foul/be booked: Jude Redwood
Most likely to shoot: Maximillian Flare
Most likely to score from close-range: Kira Blade
Most likely to score from long-range: Dylan Diam
Most likely to be fouled: Maximillian Flare
Most likely to attempt the spectacular: Becky Ray

Star players

Nicolay Moon
One of the veterans amongst the group Nicolay is an experienced and calculated defender who knows exactly how to effectively block off enemy attacks.
playing for Haunted FC his whole career made him a local hero and his leadership is valuable to the shape and focus of the entire defense line of this team in its current state.
Lastly it is known that Nicolay was one of the best defenders of the old World Cup Qualifier 88 squad that sadly ended as a disaster and he hopes to have a good last part of his career.

Morris Valerian
A central midfielder also with alot of experience, Morris Valerian was one of the last ones to join the veterans and he is with his creativity and assertive character the heart of the midfield.
Morris is also the captain of this team, he is very good at motivating his players and bringing the best out of them with alot of positivity which is why the younger players have alot of respect for him.
However this season was tough for him, he also knows he isn't getting younger and he in the coming years hopes to make this team ready for the future, with a new generation of great players and new leaders.

Maximillian Flare
Without a doubt the most famous and also the oldest member of the team, Maximillian has always been known as the new ace and holds multiple records as the most scoring player internationally ever.
Maximillian in his younger age replaced Marcus Blade the ex-coach and ever since had a great friendship with him and learnt all he knows from Marcus as he went on the coach the national side quite long.
Now with a new coach and staff coming in it also means a new generation is ready to take center stage, Maximillian has confirmed that he will shine one last time this year and will then resign from the national team.
He always had been a skilled, experienced and very inspirational player dominating the air with his speciality in volleys, headers and the likes scoring the most beautiful of goals throughout his career.
But every career comes to an end one day, but that does not mean he'll disappear.

Kira Blade
The woman that everyone is looking out for, the next generation's leading light and the daughter of national hero and Phoenix academy coach Marcus Blade is the new up and coming star of the team.
While very young her skill is unmatched, Kira is able to read the flow of the game, adapt to her opponents and keep evolving herself even within a match she will always keep getting better which each time she plays.
Inherting her father insane scoring ability and spead she is more of a technical player and gets easily fouled on because she is known as the best player of the team and quickest, however her team play is very strong with the older members aswell and she shares a good friendship with Maximillian Flare.

Kriegiersien Football Nationalteam

All players are from the youth centre of Kriegiersien national soccer champion Timesteam, which belongs to the president. As a National team project this team played and trained together in secret, only at international tournaments and against selected opponents emerging outside their training camp. The main goal: Winning Olympic Gold.

The once young team is now, after a failed Olympic campaign, at its crossroad. The players are in their mid twenties and under pressure. If they don't succeed now, the team will probably be dissolved and the players have to look for jobs at clubs.
The scouts of the different teams in Kriegiersien are already looking out for the ones who won’t be taken by the Timesteam.

Kriegiersien always plays in their black Olympic rags.. jerseys they use for every sport.

If they can't play in black and neither nude, as nudity is mandatory in Kriegiersien, they try to steal the next best tricot as alternative for black.

The Adabian National Football Team

Maybe we got lost in translation, maybe I asked for too much
But maybe this thing was a masterpiece 'til you tore it all up
Running scared, I was there, I remember it all too well

-Taylor Swift, “All Too Well”

Demonym: Adabian (plural Adabians)
Association: Adab Football Association (AFA)

BACKGROUND
Chaos. Dissension. Controversy.

Under Adabian national law, there is nothing wrong with Alulim Sinmuballit and Emma Arthur’s relationship. Interreligious relationships aren’t illegal, and interreligious civil marriages are now legal – religiously, that’s another matter, of course – but the law allowing interreligious civil marriages has always been controversial in its 15-plus years of existence, with many viewing it as an aberration from the time when liberal forces dominated the Privy Council before the deepening economic crisis led to a swing back to the moderate and conservative parties which have dominated the Council, and Adabian political life in general, for years.

With Sinmuballit and Arthur taking their relationship into the public sphere there have been more calls than ever from conservative forces – including those within the Privy Council, which has legislative power – to repeal said law. Sinmuballit and Arthur, they believe, have inspired an increasing number of Adabians to enter into interreligious relationship themselves. Or worse, move in and get married, in the process estranging themselves from family, friends, and associates who disapprove, as has happened to Sinmuballit and Arthur (minus the getting married part). An increasingly commonly heard argument is that the diversity on which the Adabian state is built rests on a “social contract” in which the various religions and ethnicities inhabiting Adabian territory – united by their use of Arabic and English and loyalty to the Emperor and Adabian state institutions, but little else – agree not to “interfere with each other”. In their view, by not only being in a interreligious relationship but also encouraging many others to enter into such relationships, Sinmuballit and Arthur are endangering the social contract, installing themselves as leaders of the ignorant, overidealistic “hippie” youth – with their destabilizing, culturally insensitive views ranging from socialism to decriminalization of homosexuality – corrupting the youth and putting the Adabian nation in danger. Adabian society has always teetered awkwardly in the middle between conservatism and liberalism; now it may fall off the edge entirely.

Through all this, the Adabian national football team try to carry on. The diagnosis of goalkeeper and captain Mohammed Marramzi with Parkinson’s disease and his resulting retirement was a blow to the team, although some were not shocked as signs of his decline had been apparent on the pitch for some time. More shocking has been his sudden appearance in conservative TV shows arguing for the interreligious civil marriage law to be repealed – which many see as a not-so-subtle dig at Sinmuballit and Arthur, whom Marramzi believes should “focus on football”. This, combined with his new, highly-publicized career as a disability rights campaigner, has led many to wonder if Marramzi is eyeing a run for political office, should his physical condition allow it.

With Marramzi gone, Enlilbani Yargab finds himself the team captain. Though still the country’s best player at age 37, Yargab is aware of his advancing age and has convinced manager Saad Kaykali to put him in a rotation with rising talent Kastiliasu Akaptaha, whom he sees as the future of Adabian football alongside Rebekah Yissakar. Kaykali and Yargab, along with assistant managers Inimabakesh Thulus and Rashid Abbas, now find themselves with the unenviable job of getting a nation divided to throw their support behind the team, even though the supposed culprits of the division are in the team.

But the team themselves are not exactly united, though they certainly try to appear so in public. Taymour Frangieh has fully and publicly declared his support for Sinmuballit and Arthur, getting into twii.tur spats with his former teammate Marramzi in the process. Some other members of the squad, while not opposed to Sinmuballit and Arthur’s relationship, reportedly feel that the relationship and the resulting media circus are becoming too much of a distraction and have left the team unable to count on the full support of their fans, who – like the rest of the nation – are divided in their opinion on the matter. One man who feels that way is the President of the Football Association, Naram-Sin Araqasdah, who has publicly called for Sinmuballit and Arthur (and, to be fair, all other members of the squad) to “put the team and the country first”, whatever it means.

Kaykali and his assistant managers have long viewed Araqasdah as an increasingly out-of-touch, obstructionist bureaucrat at best and a self-righteous dictator at worst, but understand that they have no way of removing him. Similarly Araqasdah, despite being well aware of Kaykali’s misgivings about him, still sees him as the best manager in the country and understands the loyalty that he commands among the staff and players; he knows that removing him will trigger a wave of mass resignations. For now they will have to put up with each other, but for how long?

With the eyes of a divided nation on them, the team made the journey to the medieval principality of Belnegau for the 14th Independent Associations Championship. For even if the world burns around them, maybe they can find some solace in football. Maybe not.

KIT
Image

The national team's kits, designed by Ahmad Enlil (the first President of the Football Association) in 1907, are currently manufactured by Shining Sun Company, owned by Rahman Ashurbanipal, businessman and grandson of Emperor Tizqar III.

STAFF
Manager: Saad KAYKALI - Male – born January 20, 1974 (age 62)
With his real estate company sold to businessman Mustafa al-Taghlibi, Kaykali is once again able to focus fully on his job as national team manager. His daughter Aida’s now-ended relationship with Alulim Sinmuballit has led some to ponder the possibility of a conflict of interest in Kaykali’s selection of Sinmuballit to the team, although the manager himself insists that Sinmuballit was picked purely on his performance. Privately Kaykali was reportedly saddened by the end of the relationship, but is nevertheless understanding; he is happy that Aida now has a chance to escape the media circus and holds no hard feelings towards Sinmuballit.

Assistant manager: Inimabakesh THULUS- Male – born March 28, 1967 (age 69)
Defying rumors – some of his own making and none of which he tried to deny – that he would retire at the end of the previous World Cup cycle, Thulus is still in his post as senior assistant manager. Friends and associates reportedly believe that Thulus did genuinely want to retire but ultimately felt it was best to stay by Kaykali’s side as he tried to weather the ongoing storm.

Assistant manager: Rashid ABBAS - Male – born February 15, 1987 (age 49)
Formerly a star player in the island country of Faraby, now an associated state of Adab, Abbas is determined to do all he can to help the team and prove that he has earned his position by merit, and not merely as a gesture of appeasement from the AFA to its Farabian counterpart. Currently also manager of the under-21 team.

General coach: Yitzhak BENNETT - Male – born September 20, 1976 (age 59)
Variously described as quiet, active, calm, and attentive, Bennett is very much respected by the players, who admire his work ethic, loyalty to the national team, and willingness to listen to them.

Goalkeeping coach: Faishal AR-RASHID - Male – born August 14, 1978 (age 57)
Regarded, much like Bennett, as a stabilizing influence in the national team, ar-Rashid is particularly close – thanks to his job - to goalkeeper Mohammed Marramzi and is understood to be one of the latter’s few confidants.

Physio: Hamza RIDHA - Male – born January 15, 1983 (age 53)
A longtime friend of both Kaykali and Thulus. Widely respected by fellow staff and players for the understated way by which he performs his job.

STARTING LINEUP
Note: I may reveal the starting lineup and substitutes for the next match(es) in my RPs. Should I not RP or should my RP not contain any information regarding the starting lineup and substitutes, then feel free to pick them yourself.

GK: 1 – Satchit CHANDRASEKAR – Male – born February 7, 2015 (age 21) – Mosul – 0 goals
Barely out of the under-21 team, Satchit Chandrasekar now finds himself unquestionably the national team’s main goalkeeper with Mohammed Marramzi’s retirement. His age is a cause of concern in some quarters, but his performance has been impeccable and there is no doubt that he is one of the country’s best keepers at the moment.

LB: 2 – Tansu ALTUN - Female – born February 25, 2009 (age 27) - Mosul - 0 goals
Fondly called the "heart of the squad" by her teammates. Kind, polite, smiling, beautiful inside and out, she gets along easily with all the staff and players. Yet her soft exterior hides a hard, relentless, unyielding side to her, which shines through every time she is called to perform on the pitch.

CB: 3 – Shania ENMERKAR - Female – born January 20, 2008 (age 28) - Baghdad City - 0 goals
Widely seen as one of the leaders of the “female wave” in Adabian football, observers nevertheless agree that Enmerkar has earned her place in the team by merit, rather than merely by virtue of her gender. The other female players in the squad look up to her as their leader and spokeswoman, and it is she who often goes to Kaykali to communicate the women’s concerns and opinions.

CB: 4 – Yousif ISSOU - Male – born September 27, 2004 (age 31) - Adab United - 0 goals
A reliable defender, what he lacks in star power he makes up for in tenacity, a seemingly endless energy reserve, and impressive performance on the pitch day in and day out.

RB: 5 – Taymour FRANGIEH - Male – born February 24, 2001 (age 35) - Adab United - 1 goal
The youngest of the remaining veterans from the World Cup 81 squad, Frangieh has gradually assumed the position of mentor to the newer players and maintains good relations with them. He has grown particularly close to Alulim Sinmuballit, whom he supports in continuing his interreligious relationship with Emma Arthur.

LM: 6 – Emma ARTHUR - Female – born November 18, 2012 (age 23) - Adab United - 2 goals (Vice Captain)
A representative of the Anglo-Adabian community, the second-youngest member of the squad, and widely seen as a young prodigy on almost the same level as Alulim Sinmuballit, with whom she is now openly in a relationship. Estranged from her family, with modeling offers ebbing away, she is nevertheless determined to preserve the controversial relationship even as it divides the nation.

CM: 7 – Alulim SINMUBALLIT - Male – born September 15, 2013 (age 23) - Adab United - 1 goal
The baby of the squad, and an undoubted prodigy of the game. Sinmuballit desires nothing more than to impress his teammates, and he has impressed greatly on the pitch. Off the pitch, his relationship with Emma Arthur has been… less impressive to many, to put it lightly. Nevertheless he tries to make it work, even if inside he is wondering if this relationship can actually work.

RM: 8 – Ephraim ORLEV - Male – born April 18, 1999 (age 37) - Mosul - 7 goals
A veteran from World Cup 81, Orlev remains an integral part of the squad who can be relied upon to drive forward the team’s hallmark counterattacks. He was reportedly uncomfortable with what he perceived to be his status as the team’s token Jew, although this was assuaged by the arrival of Rebekah Yissakar.

LAM/LW: 9 – Jushur AL-KUFA - Male – born August 27, 2003 (age 33) - Damascus Steelers – 19 goals
A longtime star of the Adabian domestic leagues, the 30-year-old al-Kufa has finally secured his position as a mainstay of the national team. A consistently polite and unassuming man, he is respected by all of his teammates.

RAM/RW: 10 – Rebekah YISSAKAR - Female – born January 20, 2013 (age 23) - Adab United - 28 goals
Brash, funny, happy-go-lucky, all those words have been used to describe Rebekah Yissakar, but do not let her bubbly, excitable personality distract you from the fact that she is one of Adabian football’s rising talents, with a deadly finishing touch that secured her a place at the forefront of the national team. Widely tipped as the “new Yargab” and poised to form a new, deadly partnership at the front with Kastiliasu Akaptaha, with whom the aging Yargab is starting to rotate.

CF: 11 – Enlilbani YARGAB - Male – born April 21, 1999 (age 37) - Baghdad City - 86 goals (Captain)
At age 37, Yargab’s position as the greatest Adabian player in history is secure, with more than 450 goals in the Adabian league and 86 goals with the national team. Marramzi’s retirement leaves Yargab as the team captain, with the captain's armband transferred to vice-captain Arthur should Yargab not start the match or be substituted in favor of Kastiliasu Akaptaha. The Yargab-Akaptaha rotation is expected to become a major feature of the current squad; although his agility and skill have only declined a little from his peak, Yargab nevertheless seeks to preserve his body and prolong his career and understands that the much-younger Akaptaha adapts more easily to the gegenpressing tactics.

SUBSTITUTES
GK: 12 – Akurgal SHULGI – Male – born May 15, 2017 (age 19) – Damascus Steelers U21 – 0 goals
LB: 13 – Adnan AL-TIKRITI – Male – born July 20, 2015 (age 20) – Damascus Steelers U21 – 0 goals

A member of the ‘old guard’ – Adab’s squad from World Cup 81, Saad Kaykali’s first tournament in charge – now back in the squad and expected to play a mentoring role to the younger players as well as serve as a ‘super sub’ when needed.
CM: 18 – Naram-Sin SAMANU – Male – born March 29, 2018 (age 18) – Baghdad United U18 – 0 goals
RM: 19 – Amara EMMITA – Female – born January 19, 2016 (age 20) – Baghdad United U21 – 0 goals

A member of the ‘old guard’ – Adab’s squad from World Cup 81, Saad Kaykali’s first tournament in charge – now back in the squad and expected to play a mentoring role to the younger players as well as serve as a ‘super sub’ when needed.
RAM/RW: 21 – Shamsuiluna ZAMBIYA – Male – born May 27, 2000 (age 36) – Mosul – 13 goals
A member of the ‘old guard’ – Adab’s squad from World Cup 81, Saad Kaykali’s first tournament in charge – now back in the squad and expected to play a mentoring role to the younger players as well as serve as a ‘super sub’ when needed.
CF: 22 – Kastiliasu AKAPTAHA – Male – born March 27, 2014 (age 22) – Baghdad City – 4 goals
Already widely acclaimed as a future superstar and one of the finest strikers in Adabian football, young Akaptaha now finds himself in a rotation with Enlilbani Yargab, providing him with a chance to truly prove himself on the world stage.
CF: 23 – Nadje BARZANI – Female – born March 14, 2017 (age 19) – Beirut U18 – 0 goals

STADIUM
Image

Adab City Stadium, the pride and joy of Adabian football, was completed in 1940. Located in the northern part of Adab City, the stadium was able to accommodate 40,000 people at the time of its opening. Renovations in 1978 made it an all-seater stadium and expanded its capacity to 55,350. Later it increased to 75,000 following upgrades in 2009-10 and then 76,500 after another upgrade in 2019. It is currently home to the Adabian national football team and Adab City FC.

TACTICS AND FORMATION
The team will use 4-3-2-1, the "Christmas tree" formation, with an emphasis on gegenpressing – immediately working to take back possession after losing the ball and launching a quick counterattack before the opponent can take the initiative. Any opposition players with the ball will find themselves swarmed and cut off quickly. The orientation towards gegenpressing has been offered as evidence of Rashid Abbas’ increasing influence as he seeks to modernize the team; he is poised to become sole assistant manager to Kaykali once Inimabakesh Thulus finally retires.

Goalkeeper Satchit Chandrasekar has enjoyed a sudden and meteoric rise from under-21 keeper to first-choice senior team keeper, aided by the decline and retirement of Mohammed Marramzi. Taymour Frangieh heads the defense, letting his agility – barely diminished at age 35 – and most importantly his ability to quickly rally his fellow defenders to close ranks during every attack from the opposition speak for themselves.

At midfield, Alulim Sinmuballit and Emma Arthur continue their partnership, which continues to gain acclaim on the pitch even as it becomes increasingly controversial off it. Their agility and teamwork allow them increased coverage of the pitch and domination of possession, which they skillfully use to quickly transfer the ball away from the opposing team and to the attacking trio of Jushur al-Kufa, Rebekah Yissakar, and the great Enlilbani Yargab. At age 37, the country’s greatest player remains by far its most lethal finisher, although he now largely avoids ostentatious displays of acrobatics and dribbling skills which marked his younger days in favor of simple runs towards the penalty box. In a further concession to his advancing age, Al-Kufa and Yissakar are also gradually bearing more and more of the goalscoring burden, with Yargab starting to rotate with the young Kastiliasu Akaptaha. Yargab or Akaptaha will occasionally drop back to serve as a false nine, leaving a hole in the opposition defense to be exploited by al-Kufa, Yissakar, and the midfielders.

Boot It!: The Future Begins In The Past...

Postby TJUN-ia » Sat Dec 18, 2021 4:47 pm

Image

Name: TJUN-ia
Trigram: TJU
Football Association: FA-TJUN-ia
Nickname: Jaguars (official)/Jags (short form)/Blue and Orange (commonly-used informal)/Draw Masters (satirical)/Team Nothing (the truth)

Mohammad Kallah, Nicolas Umkala, Nico Aquinio, Captain Jeff Donaldson, Pedro Vasquez, Nick James, Pedro dos Santos, Kim Won-an, Vijay Palalele. Those were the first 9 we lost after the last WC cycle. Heading into the 14th Independent Associations Championship, David Seems and Li Xiu Ying knew that they had to make some of the toughest decisions they've ever had to make as they try to figure out who would fill in the holes in the Starting XI and in the Tier 1 Subs before we made it to the tournament. In the end, here's what they decided to do:
1) David Johnson moved to Free Kicks, in place of Pedro Vasquez
2) Axel Pearson, Percy Pearson, Orion Reynolds and Preston Chapman move into the Starting XI - marking the first time since our first DBC that Galarian players will start for the Jaguars
3) Due to the above, Chapman will also take Corners on the left as a replacement for Vasquez
4) Hwang Syong-ya, Peter Ørberg, Marshall Barry and Manu Kepelewako fill in the gaps in the Tier 1 Subs, meaning they will be priorities for substitute decisions from here on out.
5) Sadio Mbwekala joins the Tier 2 Subs from the U21 setup, but moves like this are normal at the moment.
6) A new standardised player number system is now put into place - 1-11 for the Starters, 12-23 for Tier 1, 24+ for Tier 2

Some of these changes may be seen as "more welcome" than others, the players certainly welcome but the numbers may take time to get used to, but to Seems and Li, they were all required in order to set TJUN-ia up for the next phase of success. And that brings us to IAC14, set in essentially the 14th Century and the small lordship of Belnegau, a member of the Holy Roman Empire (yes, we're that far back) and while the logistics of hosting a tournament 600-700 years in the past is certainly something, all of that won't matter if we end up going deep this time around. We still haven't gone farther than the Quarters in the competition despite our developments as a footballing nation so hopefully, we can do something fitting for the grand setting this time around.

The Eshialand Soccer Federation
Roster for Independent Associations Championship XIV
Image

Last IAC was... uh... maybe let's not talk about it. But the Owls are back, and they're ready to make some noise in this 14th edition! Who knows, maybe they'll win a game this time!

First international: Aut-Ves-Nat 1-3 Eshialand (BoF 75)
Best win: Eshialand 5-0 The Jovannic (WCQ 89)
Worst loss/Most goals against: Eshialand 1-5 Sendhang (WCQ 88), Abanhfleft 5-1 Eshialand (CoH 80)
Most goals for: Eshialand 5-1 Qzvarkian Qaz (pre-CoH 80), Eshialand 5-0 The Jovannic (WCQ 89), Eshialand 5-3 Kiltoch (WCQ 89)
Highest-scoring match: Squornshelan Remnant States 4-4 Eshialand (WCQ 88), Eshialand 4-4 Felinetopia (IAC 13), Eshialand 5-3 Kiltoch (WCQ 89), Qasden 4-4 Eshialand (pre-IAC 14)

Home Stadium: The Eshialand City SuperDome, Eshialand City (capacity: 75,000).
If you're playing in Eshialand City, expect to find a cosmopolitan city at the cutting edge of modern tech, with lots of culture to take in at the same time. Maybe you could go for a bite to eat at one of the many nice restaurants, or spend a nice day with a walk by the lakeshore. There are plenty of options for things to do, so the world is your oyster. The stadium itself is a very modern facility, having been built just a year ago in response to the Owls' incredible performance in the 75th Baptism of Fire, with a retractable roof in case of nasty weather (but don't expect to use it much).

With a domestic league setup with mixed genders playing in one competition, it is pretty surprising that United Adaikes has two national football teams. One is an all-men team, and the other is an all-women team. As one of the most popular sports in the country, the United Adaikes Football Association proudly presents the United Adaikes national men's football team!

In the universe where United Adaikes is, the Independents Cup and the Baptism of Fire happen in the same year, but on different months.

OOC: I'm gonna be continuing an RP series I started with my Anaia puppet for this tournament, so don't be alarmed if you click on the previous parts and see that they were written by a different nation and each only used 300 words for some reason.

The Paradise Affairs
Part IV: Democratic Colonization
Prologue | Part I | Part II | Part III
Qasden 4-4 Eshialand

"William? What are you watching on TV?" the king's assistant Michael asked him.

It had been a trying couple of weeks for the two, with the king having to find ways to deal with his... let's just face it, complete and utter madness, and Michael basically having to serve in his stead for an entire week while he was gone. However, things were back to normal, it seemed. The king wasn't acting so strangely anymore... well at least not as strangely as before, nothing was wrong with the country as a whole, and everything was just peaceful.

"I'm just watching the Eshialand-Qasden match... it's up to 4-4, tied for the highest-scoring in Eshian history!"
"Nice, can I watch with--"

"And we interrupt this broadcast of the Eshialand NT match for ENN Breaking News!" a booming voice said through the TV.

"Oh? What could this--"
"Shh, shush!" the king told Michael. "I'd really like to hear what they have to say!"

"The small island of Aleirave in Anaia recently held a referendum to decide what to do after their leader, Aleksandr Tereyev, was killed last week at the age of 34 without an appointed successor."

"Wait, I remember meeting that guy in Klysevia!" The king said.
"You do? I'm sorry he's gone..." Michael asked.
"Don't be, trust me. He was a racist piece of sh*t, a real piece of work. I'm certainly not crying over this..."

The news broadcast continued: "With all 34,723 valid ballots counted, 56% voted to unite with Eshialand--"

The king spat out his cola in shock. "Whaaattt???? Why us? What the heck? Michael, did you know about this???"
"No sir, I promise, I haven't heard a thing about this! I'm just as surprised as you are... what do we do now?"
"I'm honestly not sure... I suppose we should meet with the people of this island? Ask why the heck this happened?"
"I'll book the flight then..."

"ENN has yet to receive any comment from the King or Prime Minister about this vote."

Just as the announcer finished, a phone could be heard ringing from the king's office. William ran to check who was calling, and sure enough, the Caller ID read "ENN NEWSROOM"... these were going to be another couple of interesting weeks, weren't they?

Qasden - 4 (Dragoslav 13'; Bone 42', 66'; De La Fontaine 51')
Eshialand - 4 (Silver 23'; Harran 30'; Carroll 45+3'; Meilling 73')

Nation: Montaña Verde
Trigram: MVE
Adjective/demonym: Verdean
Team nickname: Condors

Coach: Serafín Andino Águila (43)
Assistant coach: Pigmalion Perales (41)

Taking over from Enriqueta is Andino Águila. He trades in Enriqueta’s nicotine-stained tracksuits for stiffly starched shirts and her bullish indifference to modern training methods with a holistic attitude incorporating updated approaches to nutrition and spiritual wellness. A former player who was a 5 star prospect at 22 and a 1 star has-been at 26, he drifted out of the game, found God, and reinvented himself as an enthusiastic coach in Calequén’s youth team. His permanent pearly white smile isn’t to everyone’s tastes but his results have been pretty effective since moving to the senior team. Perales, Enriqueta’s assistant, is a former striker whose career ended early through injury, and stays on in the assistant role.

Squad: A squad of 23 players has been named for the tournament. It can generally be assumed the players number 1 – 11 will start, and 12 – 23 be matchday squad reserves, but so long as you’re sensible and unless I’ve RPed otherwise, you can RP my team lineup with some variation.
 • Men and women play together in Montaña Verde. To avoid pronoun confusion, female players are marked in pink.
 • The league is fairly new as a result of restructuring following independence, but many of the clubs date back decades and have entrenched traditions and rivalries.
 • Fútbol is a tremendously popular sport in the country, rivalling Catholicism for the national religion, but limited overseas exposure means the standard is not especially high.
 • Speaking of not being especially high, Montaña Verde is one of the shortest [human] populations in the world. While there are one or two tall players, in general men and women are very short.
 • Players are not egregiously dirty in terms of violence or deliberate fouling, but enjoy a good tactical dive now and then.
 • The bolded name or “nickname” should be used when referring to players and staff.
 • All players are domestic unless otherwise stated. If you want to sign one of my players, just send a TG/DM to ask.
 • This tournament takes place 1 year after WC89 and 2 years after IAC 13 in my canon.

Goalkeepers:

1. Rudolf Lazzaro “Dolfo” Mojica Parra (22) – Image Gunzlach
12. Mateo Zayas Chavarría (29) – Scunthorpe de Puyevier
23. Pablo Martínez Murillo (26) – Image AOPIC Greens

As tall goalkeepers are few and far between in Montaña Verde the lanky Dolfo’s ascent has been rapid, but sloppy errors have seen him lose his place at times. He is forging an outstanding domestic career in Græntfjall and largely regained the #1 jersey following error-strewn performances from Mateo, an aggressive sweeper-keeper who is willing to play out from his area, having a rather inflated assessment of his own footballing ability. Pablo Martínez is a decent shot stopper but not expected to play.

Right backs:

2. Roberta Márquez Saldana (27) – Francisco Teixidó
14. Juan Cazzalla Dengra “Zalladen” (25) – Requista Boys

Full backs in Montaña Verde tend to be judged on their attacking credentials first and foremost. Roberta is a converted midfielder and is best playing in a high role as a relentless attacker, driving forward to whip in crosses. A solemn Catholic, she crosses herself after every goal or assist. Zalladen is a more orthodox right back.

Left backs:

6. Justin Pedroza Sierra (27) – Image Austin City
16. Juan Diego Lucián Juderías (22) – Sonreté

Justin is one of the best players in the team. His strong left foot has him at left back, but he’s capable of playing anywhere on the field. A skilful dribbler with all the playground tricks, and standing quite a bit taller than his teammates, he seems to tower over everyone except Osito. What tends to let him down is his attitude. He gets into arguments with the opposition, his teammates, the referees, the fans. He’s the living embodiment of “If you get into an argument with someone, they’re an asshole; if you get into arguments with everyone, you’re the asshole”. Juderías is much more of an orthodox left-back, a good defensive prospect with a great work-rate but lacking any of Justin’s pace or flair.

Center backs:

3. Arquímedes Hernández Velásquez (25) – Image Kyethas Rivermen FC
4. Jairo Villegas Balderas (31) – Calequén – Vice-captain
13. Alfredo Tafalla (24) – Acharaque
22. Magdalena Fernán Zoido (23) – Scunthorpe de Puyevier

In terms of footballing ability, the central defender corps is fairly strong relative to the rest of the team, but the main problem is physical. None of them are especially tall. Former captain Edelberto makes way for Arquímedes, who has good distribution skills and can bring the ball out well, while Jairo is a superb timer of tackles and can reliably clear the ball out – if it’s on the ground. If both of them are stacked end on end they’re almost as tall as one average international center forward. Tafalla and Madgalena are good, busy workers but quite raw.

Holding midfielders:

5. Ana-Ximena Pareja Carvallo (26) – Image Concord Heights Suburban – Captain
15. Edgar Nieves Liñares (30) – Requista Boys

Neither Ana-Ximena and Edgar are true defensive midfielders, instead more suited to playing more advanced roles, supporting a dynamic midfield set-up. Ana-Ximena isn’t as skilful on the ball as Edgar but has a higher work rate, impressing with her pressing, tackling, and physicality, and winning the start ‘5’ shirt once worn by former coach Enriqueta herself. Tactical shifts could see Edgar getting playing time alongside her anyway, as he’s a better passer.

Wide midfielders:

8. Kristjana Eiríksdóttir (27) – Image Knetyohai
11. Valery Nazaret “Valentinha” Garrido García (24) – Image Northandryun Rovers
18. Sara Ariadna Nazario Alonzo (26) – Image Nowy Orpington United
21. Emma Narváez (26) – Francisco Teixidó

Don’t worry, not getting any puppet strings tangled here: Kristjana is 100% Verdean except for her name, reflecting her background in the tiny minority Græntfjaller population. She plays alongside Valentinha in the center, but they have different roles: she’s more of a speedster and uses her flying pace to whip out to the wings, while Valentinha will tend to drift into more of a central role, distributing and bringing the ball forward to open up rapid attacks. Valentinha is the more physical of the two, and a complex wannabe intellectual off the field to boot. Sara Ariadna is a bit of an enigma, not quite the pace of a striker but not quite the complete skills of a central midfielder, prone to some impulsive actions on and off the field. Emma isn’t as methodical in her passing as Kristjana but has great speed too.

Attacking midfielders:

10. Thomás “Primitivo” Ceballos Cantú (23) – Image Urrheddiao
17. Julia Pastora Rodríguez Varela (28) – América de Santa Margarita de Yacuija

There’s nothing “primitive” about the play of the young midfield general, who left Scunthorpe for Urrheddiao. He’s being asked to play a little higher than he would for his club here, but the skilful Primitivo has earned it. Bigger than most of his teammates, his strong physicality can be deceptive as he has a silky touch off both feet. And watch out for his wicked curling strikes if there’s a free-kick in the vicinity of goal. Julia Varela is another very promising player. Small with great speed and balance, she can zig-zag in and out of defenses, but doesn’t put in the hard yards tracking back.

Forwards:

7. Teodosio “Osito” Orellana Cerda (22) – Image St Warren City FC
9. Verónica Ximena González Saelices (25) – Francisco Teixidó
19. Naomí Berrocal Encarnación (25) – Image Concord Heights Suburban
20. Benjamín “Benji” Berganza Ureña (23) – América de Santa Margarita de Yacuija

The young Osito is a huge target man. It’s still not entirely clear he’s not two regular sized Verdeans wearing a trenchcoat. He’s mainly a goal-scorer, not all that good at assisting and rarely tracking back, but an obvious target for crosses and through balls. Verónica Ximena is a fairly versatile 9/10 hybrid who can do a bit of everything without excelling in anything; in this system, she floats just behind Osito and just ahead of Primitivo to set up the attacks. Naomí Berrocal is a dynamic wing player who can run, pass, and shoot. Benji is a classic 9, or would be if he weren’t 5’1” and thus not exactly a presence against the aerial ball.

Free-kicks: Primitivo, Valentinha
Corners: Valentinha, Kristjana
Penalties: Ana-Ximena, Verónica Ximena

Postby Belnegau » Sat Dec 18, 2021 10:00 pm

Herein may thou find the names of the brave knights and lords who shall take the field for the honor of Belnegau.

Marshal: Freiherr Johann the Bald
Freiherr Johann holds a small keep and lands in Heidingen. He was a bosom companion of Lord Hartwig in youth, and remains a close counselor at court. He is a cunning warrior, and serves Lord Hartwig ably as a field commander. Thus, the Landgraf granted him the command of the ball-kicking knights without hesitation.

Keeper of Goal: Ritter Liutprand von Neumark
Sir Liutprand has come only of late to our court, having been until now in the service of Ludwig the Brandenburger. His lands having been ravaged by the Poles and rendered desolate two years ago, he left Brandenburg and came to Lord Hartwig’s court in hopes of earning his favor. He is a shrewd man, dark of hair and of mood. He is slow to act, wishing always first to consider his course. This shall serve him well in keeping the net, that last bastion of defense.

Defender: Junkherr Jörg von Wartburg
Jörg is the youngest son of a family of good standing in Thuringia, but without inheritance, he left home to make his fortune elsewhere. He is somewhat mistrusted by some as an opportunist not above underhanded tactics.

Defender: Ritter Berthold von Ebeling
Called “the Stalwart” by his fellows, Berthold is the personal bodyguard of Lord Hartwig, and is by his side with shield and sword day and night. He is a stern man, not one for jests or merriment, unless it is in celebration of feats of arms.

Defender: Edler Treniota the Samogitian
A convert from that tribe of the Lithuanians inhabiting the lands between Livonia and Prussia, Treniota is a fearsome warrior. He strikes his foes with the savagery of a heathen despite his baptism.

Midfielder: Ritter Wulfstan the Yodeler
Wulfstan is an ever cheerful man, whose love is given as much to song and food as to battle and tourney. A strong man, and a powerful fighter, but if he is quick to battle he is also quick to friendship.

Midfielder: Ritter Lothar the Crusader
Lothar has spent the past two winter seasons fighting alongside the Teutonic Brothers as they wage their campaigns against the heathen Lithuanians and their allies the Poles. He is renowned throughout Belnegau for his tireless strength and spirit.

Midfielder: Junkherr Leopold von Mühlenfurt
A son of a disgraced family, Leopold went his own way, seeking the renowned generosity of Lord Hartwig rather than sink to dirtying his hands with the money-grubbing trade of merchants as his father did. He is ever eager in battle to prove his worth is more than that his family’s name would suggest.

Midfielder: Ritter Rudolf the Sheep-Slayer
Rudolf is a thinner man, though stronger than some would judge him, and quick to anger. It is said of him that in his wroth, he once cut through a shepherd’s flock with his sword, rather than wait for the sheep to clear the way.

Midfielder: Ritter Heinrich von Salza
A distant cousin of the illustrious and highly regarded Grandmaster of the Teutonic Order, the honorable Hermann von Salza. Heinrich is somewhat the target of scorn among Lord Hartwig’s knights, as they say he fears battle. He is a nimble man, quick on his feet, and it is a fine swordsman who can land a hit upon him, whatever others may say.

Attacker: Junkherr Kristoff von Oberhaldenau
Kristoff is a young man, who can barely grow a beard at all. He has yet to come fully into the strength of a man, but is as quick as any in Belnegau, and can leap clear over a horse’s back.

Attacker: Ritter Heintz von Heidingen
Son and heir of Freiherr Johann. Heintz is a tall, broad-chested man who it is said can carry a horse one hundred paces and drink a barrel of ale in a sitting. Who better, then, to be first in the attack, and assault the defense of the foe?

The kit, naturally, shall be full armor as properly befits a knight, quite similar to this, excepting that the surcoat shall bear the eagle of Belnegau, rather than the cross of the Teutonic Order. Being of chivalrous nature, and in the interest of good sporting fairness, the knights of Belnegau shall not carry weapons in their matches. Image

RP Prompt:
The fields and facilities playing host to this tournament are certainly not what international footballers are accustomed to. No running water. No electricity. No light but candles. No heat but fire. Wooden stands that can accommodate only a few hundred spectators. Fields mown by hand with scythes, which are not perfectly level, and may have divots and tussocks here and there. And this is to say nothing of the culture shock, differences in dress, religion and custom must be vast. How are your players adapting? What will it take for them to find a way to persevere and win under these adverse circumstances?
Please note that this prompt is optional. No points will be lost for not following it.

The 14 Stars, first match narrow loss!

In the first match of this IAC 14 The 14 Stars took on Squidroidia, a side said to be superior although without even knowing who would play it was already a mess of a match to begin with for our team.
Firstly when they arrived literally everything looked as if it came straight out of an medieval fantasy book, they made several complaints when they saw the field where they'd have to train on which was utterly terrible.

The Starsians refused to train on this and demanded an inside training complex which they got, a random sports-hall from a college nearby was given to use for the Starsians to work their daily practices.
The Starsians themselves flew in artificial grass to make it look like a field and so they started training days late in this weird country not talking to anyone else but their own fellow nationals during their stay.
This time it was also the first time under a new coach, the goal of this IAC was to use it to prepare for World Cup 90 with this team so they could make a great come-back after the horrible Vilita incident that almost got Midfielder Christiana Love banned from playing.
When the last training of the pre-tournament was done the players gathered for a small talk.

''Alright ladies and gentlemen come and gather, tomorrow we'll take on Squidroidia as said which will be a good test to see how strong the bond in our new team is and where we can improve during the tournament.
I know the field isn't optimal but we have ordered special new shoes to be delivered tomorrow that will have extra grip on the grass so you all will have optimal ball control, they have also been approved by the tournament board.'' Coach Landry spoke to the team

''Thats great, i can understand not every country having the funds for an optimal organization but this is insane, however we will come out on top tomorrow and we are here to defend our Starsian honor.
What happened in the past happened, we will look forward and move on, lets go!!'' Maximillian spoke in agreement as Morris Valerian his old teammate gave him an approving nod.

Matchday

It was the day of the match, despite the terrible field the Starsian players entered the field with their new shoes alongside their Squidroidian counterparts of which no one apparently knew names even the commentators didn't.
Squidroidia got the kick off but would be playing with wind against them, as they kicked off the first minutes were pretty calm and were used to test the other team and decipher their playstyle and individual qualities.
Our Starsian team was a tad on the defense but also at times showed great teamplay and combinations especially on the midfield under the lead of Morris Valerian the new team-captain that was determined to get results here.
In the 18th minute a cross-pass got to Jude Redwood who attempted a good header but the ball was caught by the goalkeeper with a decent save as a counter attack started but was stopped by Alan White with a sliding tackle
In the 39th minute another good chance appeared when Becky Ray gave a long pass to Maximillian Flare over the ground which brought him an opportunity to shoot before the defender would be near him, he shot outside the keepers reach but on the goal post after which the last minutes counted away and the referee signalled for halftime.

Halftime

Landry: ''Alright team, we are doing good we have chances and so have they, it is a great match but we need to be more consisten with our finishing if we want to get the three points here.
There is no doubt we are equal to them, i want to keep this strategy until around the 60th minute and depending on the score then i'll switch into a more attacking or defensive formation.
Remember to keep your zone, if you have to come out of that zone and move forward but be aware of what you leave behind if you do, take risks but do it very calculated in the current situation of the game, anything to add Young?''

Young: ''Not really it is indeed the best to keep control on the match for now, try to force them back when we have possesion and make sure they don't get the counter opportunity as we've seen in the first half, with that said lets go to the second half!''

Second Half

Later the second half started, it was no diffrent from the first with two teams equal in skill and no one giving anything to the other but also a fair match and that was very nice to see.
However one of the teams was here to take the win, this team was Squidroidia sadly in the 72th minute a minor foul was made resulting in a free-kick quite a bit outside the box not seeming to be of any danger at this distance.
With a great kick it was crossed around the wall outside the reach of the keeper and with this unexpected but very neat goal the match was seemingly decided in favor of Squidroidia.
James Landry made the needed substitutions to give the offense a boost but sadly the inevitable couldn't be turned around and with alot of shots chances and sadly no goal our Starsian side lost their first match of the IAC 14 with 1 goal diffrence.
When Landry was asked for his comment on the match he would say the following.

Landry: ''The team has played a great game, this loss is not something we have to be ashamed of, there is alot of work to do that is for sure but there is no doubt that this team has great potential for the matches yet to come.
Squidroidia was seen as one of the best teams in our group, if we can play such a great game like this against them i am convinced that this team has what it takes to grow in this tournament and bring a good result home.
The team has been great today, i am proud of them and we will now evaluate and come back stronger for the next match!''

Greetings, compatriots!
It’s TTV from Principality of Belnegau, and we are share with you most recent news about our beloved national football team.

It should be noted that this county is perhaps the most exotic where our athletes ever have been on a tournaments. We already had the experience of playing in a stadium without any stands at all and faced some other difficulties, but in the country where we arrived there are no such things as electricity and running water, and pastures are used as stadiums. Fortunately, the Trolleborg authorities reacted quickly to the first news and took prompt action. A group arrived in Belnegau and created a real city-in-city for the entire delegation including fans. On the hastily rented empty land lot a temporary hotel was created from the blocks, prefabricated stands for the stadium, all delivered by air, a first-aid post was deployed, some sort of food court was created, and electricity was provided. And, by the way, all teams and fans who have come to the tournament can make inquiries about either being housed here or have our help in the creation of such camps on the spots of their choice, everyone will be welcomed.

Our fans after sampling the famous local ale intended, as usual, to gather in the main square of Heidingen and move to the stadium, arousing the surroundings with joyful roars and chants and trying to get the local population into the fun. But it quickly became clear that the country's God-fearing residents were focused on their day-to-day activities, and the cheers soon died down, because Trolleborg fans finding themselves unwilling to interfere with busy people fighting for a piece of bread. It’s looked very rude and impolite that we came to distant lands to watch football for a fun when the locals work so hard. So the chants had to be postponed until the stadium - well, if you call it that.

The fact that the game would be quite special was clear even during the warm-up, when it had just begun and Skrta, throwing the ball in front of him on the field, made then a pass to his teammate, and, to the surprise of both of them, the ball bumped into some inconspicuous bump and bounced off to the unexpected direction. As it turned out, the field is not quite even, with some bumps tussocks, hubbles and pits, and grass was cut in some strange way, as if the machine moved in semicircles and jumped after each in the opposite direction. Therefore, before the game, our lads preferred to thoroughly investigate whole field, to find what else was on the table. They throughly mapped where everything is on it, then grabbing a few balls and estimating how they jump and move at different parts of the field and what surprises there might be. Coaches immediately begin to plan how to use everything to our advantage.

After the teams entered the field, the game did not start for some time, since the beginning of the game, for lack of a mechanic clock, was supposed to begin as the bells would ring in the neighboring monastery. The referee checked the time of the game itself by his own chronometer, but game itself must begin by this signal. After game it was known, that God-praising hourly song of the monks lasted this time a little longer due to the fact that their prior this afternoon was filled with special gratitudiness to the Almighty and sang praises a little longer than usual. So the signal was given a little later, but we are in no way offended, since we in Trolleborg always try to respect local customs.

IFA NEWS NETWORK
Blues to keep the trophy?

The Indussean National Team has once again started it's Independent Association Championship tourney after the historic final win over the indie stronghold HUElavia in the IAC 13 Finals held in Poafmersia. This season, the IAC is hosted in the lands of Belnegau. Indusse belongs to Group F which consists of the nations; Silver Beach, United Adaikes, Reçueçn, Trolleborg and New Zhengguo. Taking the groups into consideration, it seem to be not too easy to win group. Reçueçn is a strong team and has shown their skillful play in both the IAC and World Cups. United Adaikes seems to be a young team but with a lot of capacity and can even lead a unexpected group topping performance. Trolleborg is currently strong and in good form and is the current Cup of Harmony champion who is another threat to the indusseans. Silver Beach and New Zhengguo seems to be of a lesser threat but can even break all expected result and do some miracles to topple the giant teams.

The First match of Indusse was against New Zhengguo and indusse won the match for six goals against two. As usual the team had got their captain Baskar H Kumar in the lead scoring three goals and followed by Mersiás with Two. Baskar H Kumar has been the captain of the National team for ages and the new manager, Shane Newman has decided to keep him in the place since he's the best and has done great in the last few tournaments. He was also the favourite of former coach, Joseph Moteudi who just got signed as the National Team Coach of Bollonich. Joseph Moteudi was sacked by the IFA and was made the interim national team selector until he got a new job at Bollonich. Bollonich seems to be a growing and efficient group of young people who have a lot of capacity to create miracles.

The Host Nation of Belnegau looks exotic and beautiful but the national team staff and players aren't happy with the facilities given to them. There's no running water, no electricity. They seem to be so primitive that they aren't fit for a international football tournament. The National Team has raised complaints to the authorities on the ineffective management of facilities by the host. The Stadiums seems to be having very low capacity and is not even able to have the official fan base of the nation. Eventhough there's a lot of facilitation issues the players and staff claims that the place is naturally beautiful and the people are extremely knowledgeable and caring to others. The Matches were also interupted since there were no proper fences and the sheeps out in Heidingen just came inside the stadium.

TACTICS

Starting Eleven

The Panthers are famed for their constant energy. Without possession, they aggressively press, closing out on poor passers and players in vulnerable positions - especially on the flanks - as soon as the ball is lost. When the ball is won back, they push forwards, emphasizing verticality, quick movement, and teamwork over individual flair. It's an attractive style of football, but it is also a bit naïve, as they tend to wear down late in games and are a bit sloppy in the back.

The key players in the system are Tariq Ben Labrat, not a big goalscorer but a dynamite presser with a deft touch, and Abu Mansur, whose endless stamina will make him the team's defensive anchor, especially late in matches. Playmaker Ali Al-Qushayri and incisive winger Ahmed Fernandez also stood out during the team's 7NC semifinal run, scoring seven and nine goals respectively, but neither is starting now due to age, meaning there will be massive pressure on Araz Fernandez and Abdellah Elias to take on the creative load. There isn't much of an emphasis on width, except that provided by the tireless fullbacks al-Hadda and Youssef (possibly the best player on the team), enabling Fernandez and Blanco to cut inside and make plays in the box. Most of Almuzahara's goals will come from one devastating long-ball right after regaining possession, followed by a series of deft interplays in the box to stymie the defense with rapid passing before a shot opens up.
