As I've posted here before, I'm in support of the government requiring people to get vaccinated. My preference is for a tax on those who are unvaccinated, but the form the government uses to require vaccination can take many forms. So long as the vaccine is safe, is being distributed for free, and is being distributed evenly I am ok with the vaccine being mandatory. I would prefer a religious/consciences objector waiver exist, but I wouldn't make it a requirement.

Disease is the enemy, vaccines are the best tool to fight it.

Looking at Canadian history it looks like there is a precedent for required vaccination, with public health boards having the power to require smallpox vaccination as far back as the 1880s.

Refusing medical treatment for what?

Refusing a vaccine in the middle of a pandemic is good grounds for being locked out of restaurants, theaters, concerts,etc. You can still stream it, get food delivered and not infect/kill people.

Not entirely true.

Less infections means less viral replication. It means statistically fewer chances of a variant arising that can be problematic. Ergo we can do everything in our power to prevent new infections, and treat existing infections.

We can at the very least slow down the advent of new, problematic variants significantly.

Who is we in this case? Your never going to get every single country to act perfectly in sync.

What are you even saying? Reducing infections is not like doing the salsa.

Taking all measures to reduce the infectious agent from reaching healthy individuals helps in this. We can all play a role in that e.g. by wearing a mask, and more globally the people in charge can make more efforts to roll out vaccines to other countries so the virus runs out of playgrounds to rapidly develop new variants.

For example, I would say my own country is doing quite well, but unfortunately we still need to take measures because we're one country on one single planet where the virus can get around relatively easy because we are so globally interconnected nowadays.
