It's a Long Way to Avalonia
1918, November - the war in Europa is still in full swing. With the Avalonian empire and the Gaul republic to the west Slugging it out with the Dastardly "Hun" of the Great Rhinereich
Both sides have suffered casualties well into the millions only for mere meters of land in exchange.
3rd platoon, 2nd company of the 132nd Royal rifles battalion was only a tiny fraction of those millions, suffering Egregious losses in the Centeral front whilst the 132nd was embedded with the 3rd Gaul Rifles division on a String of brutal counteroffensives.
After a couples month leave at a Wine-soaked village in the Gaulish countryside, though - 2nd company was reinforced to full strength. That's the good news; the bad news is that thanks to this new wave of fresh Recruits, 2nd Company's status as a Battle-hardened Veterans has been rendered obsolete, with what was left of the company being hastily promoted to leadership roles in the unit, effectively meaning that its up to them to Bring about the Company's former reputation, they were quickly reassigned (along with the rest of their unit) to a brand new offensive...
ORDERS FROM AVALONIAN EXPEDITIONARY CORPS HIGH COMMAND
AUG 1 1917
GENERAL ELIZABETH HOWARD, COMMAND OF NORTHEN GAUL FRONT, EUROPA THEATER
This is an order by command, effectively immediately; all Avalonian units currently embedded with Gaulish forces in the Central front are to be relocated IMMEDIATELY to the Northern Gaul front of the Europa theater.
132nd rifle bat. are to report to the 178th Field depot, Laion
For mobilization, Effective IMMEDIATELY.
Failure to comply to this order will result in trial by military court.
Enter Bryon, the industrial heartland of the Far eastern Gaulish regions. Being placed the 150km west of The Gaul-Rhine border, many a Rhineland immigrant have come to this city to work, live, and move on. It is this flow of immigration that makes this heart beat, but by early 1914, when the borders were closed; the factories had to make do with local citizens, but(again) by mid-1916, conscription was introduced, and the Workers in the factories were not exempted from joining the army, thus women were being forced to work in the factories.
Two months later, and the Hun were at the city's doorstep, the local garrison - unable to handle the onslaught, retreated.
But this year is a new year, new beginnings, new Conscripts, new Weapons, and a shiny new plan for an offensive that will kick those nasty huns in Gaul out of Gaul.
By September, the Avalonians have reached Bryon, though unable to encircle the city, They were able to make headway before the months end.
Early august, a string of German counterattacks have punched the Avalonians back at their beachheads.
Both sides quickly settled into a routine of attack after counterattack, often in the dead of night. Days became weeks as battle lines disintegrated into hard points and Command posts. Evey townhouse was a viable pillbox, every hole the shell creates can be ambush material. Bombs wired to doors, Spike pits with Grey cloth covering it, Mortars, Bombs, Hidden forward artillery observation posts, casualties went up by the hour as the bodies begin to pile up in the streets and bullet holes begin to line buildings - They fought house to house, street by street, door by door.
As part of a new effort to secure the city by Christmas, Command has started to divert whatever resources they have on hand into the meat grinder that is Bryon,
Including the 132nd.
What you are about to witness, or participate in; will be the 132nd's greatest challenge yet......
So unfortunately, due to RL circumstances - I won't be able to run EIBU for quite some time, so I decided to bring up a backup to fill in the time gap.
So this is Its a long way to Avalonia, or as I like to call it "war is hell, the RP". *For reasons surrounding quality control, This RP Currently has a One paragraph per post rule, One post per 48 hours is also highly encouraged, but it is not a rule.
*Kills are not decided by dice roll, but instead are decided by the player himself, the OP and the COOPs trust that the player is being realistic in terms of kills and is making his choice by analyzing the situation he is in.
Remember: when in doubt, ASK

In combat, the CO wields his service pistol (The Webly Mk. IV).
