In the wake of the Ordre Moral and the start of the Third Republic (which would, in this timeline, become known as the Transitional Republic) the conservatives, monarchists and the French industrialists managed to hash out a new political order. Instead of the proposed Republic, the monarchist plan was followed, instituting king Henri as king of France, and making the Comte de Paris his heir. King Henri was killed quite early in his reign by a suspected anarchist, and thus the energetic Comte de Paris, Louis Philippe II, seized the throne. A veteran of the US civil war, Louis Philippe styles himself as a military ruler. This, combined with the backing of the French industrialist class, in whose favour he ahs more than once deployed the army to quash strikes, has firmly entrenched him in his position as king. He has now ruled for more than twenty years, and in that time the traditionalist, conservative government has instituted a form of catholic-corporatist system, in which company decisions are made nominally by consulting the workers of a particular factory. In practice, the representatives of the working class are yes-men often paid by their employers to cave to their demands, but this has created a system in which strikes are fundamentally seen as outside of the moral order, and against which violence can be used, since they go outside the regular system of 'catholic working class democracy'.

An interesting application, and I quite like it honestly! Considering Germany's liberal movement stated by The Batavia, this almost seems like a switcheroo sort of thing going on here, like how roles are reversing...
Also, Austria-Hungary is quite interested in a French Kingdom that is conservative :P

The party also supports Greek nationalism and the Megali Idea, but unlike the liberal Modernists, the Nationalists want immediate military action and eschew diplomacy and calls for waiting for the right time.

The Third Party (Τρίτο Κόμμα), led by Alexandros Zaimis, is a minor but rising opposition party that aims to put an end to the two-party duopoly that has dominated Greek party politics since the 1880s. It has moderate positions on both economic and social issues, advocating careful economic development and gradual modernization. On foreign policy, while in support of the Megali Idea, it opposes reckless military and diplomatic action.

Jose Marti isn't killed in the Battle of Dos Rios during Cuba's war of independence from Spain, and today resides in Havana, running his pro-Cuban independence newspaper. The Spanish-American War proceeded as it did in OTL, with the island “liberated” from Spain and places under American occupation, with the puppet government of the Republic of Cuba being formed in early 1899. José Marti, who played a big role in Cuba’s fight for independence, has criticized the puppet government via his newspaper, publishing articles that thanked the Americans for aiding in Cuba’s liberation, though claimed the Americans wished to put Cuba “under new management”, an opinion shared by a pretty firm majority of Cuba’s population. As opinions of America continue to sour and a new movement for complete independence begins, only Heaven knows what’s in store for Cuba…

The Italo-Ethiopian of 1895-1896 ended in a pyrrhic victory for the Italians, thus making Ethiopia the last African nation to fall to European imperialism. The major cause for such huge losses for the Italian forces was primarily down to Lieutenant General Luigi Cadorna's incompetence. His stubborn adherence to offensive infantry attacks meant that he has inflicted self-sabotage on the soldiers underneath his command by having them bayonet charge Ethiopians that were armed with swords and spears. Cadrona would've caused the entire kingdom to lose if it weren't for a stroke of luck when he created makeshift assault troops armed with daggers and grenades to blow up a hole in Ethiopian lines. With his flaws quickly revealed after the Treaty of Addis Abba, Luigi Cadorna was promoted to General and was appointed to be the Military Governor of Italian East Africa. While the official reason was to be rewarded for his service to the king and country, members of the Italian Army knew that it was to mostly keep Cadorna outside of the circles of military theory.

Taking harsh lessons from the colonial war, Italy has embarked on a program to reform its army to be a more efficient fighting force. By reevaluating combat doctrine, expanding the use of machineguns and artillery, and pioneering proto-stormtrooper tactics. Cardona's assault troops, formed haphazardly during the war, caught the eye of reform-minded officers for their potential in breached fortified positions. Initially, the Royal Italian Army was split between modernizing its equipment or infantry tactics but when the Royal Italian Navy got the lion's share of the military budget due to the growing imperialism in the government, the generals picked the latter. A specialized school was formed to continue these experiments on "assault grenadiers."

Politically, the Kingdom of Italy had its first taste of parliamentary democracy only for a huge scandal involving political parties colluding with Sicilian and Napoli Mafia convinced King Umberto I that democracy was too vulnerable to corruption. As an admirer of Kaiser Wilhelm II and Prussian militarism, King Umberto I shut down Parliament and reopened it as a legislative rubber stamp while he centralized most of the power to the royal throne. However, in order to placate the masses, he copied Bismarck's welfare programs such as healthcare, raised wages, expanding pensions, and unemployment insurance. To break the power of the Mafias, the King sent the Carabinieri to simply crush the crime families and drive them out of South Italy. Such encounters rarely ended peacefully but it did the job and broke the Mafia families apart.

But I digress... I see nothing wrong with your application, and matter of factly keeping Cadorna stuck in East Africa whilst the actual country tries to reform it's military has actually kinda made my day, because f#*k Cadorna... But otherwise, whilst that's quite a big land grab (Abyssinia), with Cadorna being the military governer that probably evens it out a bit :P
So yeah, I can accept it... Gimme a moment and I'll make you a player and change the map so Abyssinia is under Italy.

In the mid-to-late 1880s, Prince Gaston of Orléans, the husband of Princess Isabel, became more interested in the Brazilian monarchy following disappointment in Isabel's unwillingness to want to pursue a more intellectual life through study that he wished for and he feared that the monarchy would die out. As a result, he began to use his influence as Isabel's husband to plan for his eventual reign over Brazil when Emperor Pedro II would either pass away or get killed by republican rebels. In 1887, Pedro II was successfully assassinated by rebels and Isabel is made Princess Imperial of Brazil. However, due to her apathy towards leadership, Gaston began to take her responsibilities and become the official leader of Brazil, which allows him to actively suppress republican groups and convince the people that the monarchy is worth remaining in power. On the other hand, he also introduced numerous political reforms that pleased the people of Brazil and increased support for the monarchy. Since then, republican sentiment lingers on as open rebellion is coming, even though the monarchy remains strong as of 1900.

While the majority of pre-1900 Romanian history will abide by OTL, in 1879, rather than simply dilute Article 7 of the 1866 Constitution - which stated that non-Christians could not become citizens - under Western pressure, particularly from France and the United Kingdom, Article 7 was done away with entirely. In addition, in 1884, the Constitution was amended to lower the number of electoral colleges from four to two, greatly expanding the franchise (as opposed to three colleges in OTL).

Actually, Canada is currently a Dominion. It was turned into one upon Canadian Confederation in 1867. "When the Dominion of Canada was created in 1867, it was granted powers of self-government to deal with all internal matters, but Britain still retained overall legislative supremacy. This Imperial supremacy could be exercised through several statutory measures."
