Xkoranate and the main scorinaters don’t work on a ChromeBook, however I have set up online versions of certain scorinators for use.

If you are interested in scorinating Boxing Check Here. Create an account on the website and make a “fork” of the project, and follow the given directions to scorinate.

In this thread it was mentioned that there are some issues with the NSFS home-field advantage system. Could someone please link this if it's been discussed before, or summarize it if it hasn't? Thanks!

It's discussed here. The problem is xkoranate's implementation of the NSFS paradigm, not NSFS itself.

I think it's fixed in the version being updated on github.

The issue isn’t fixed in the current version of xkoranate, however the GitHub branches have fixes in them, refer to this post for them:

Does anyone know of a good scorinator to use for an open wheel racing series for oval tracks? I know Nimbus has made The Racing Scorinator, but that's mostly made for road courses and street circuits.

Also, is there a good scorinator for rally racing and stock car racing.

Firstly, I'm obliged to point out that TRS isn't my creation - I've merely augmented and helped to maintain it for a bit!

Secondly, I believe you'd be looking for Xkoranate! That, I believe, is the scorinator that NSSCRA uses; seems to be serviceable for that purpose, at least from the outside.

What are you trying to scorinate? There are a few scorinators that don't require a PC to run.

Some are Excel-based like the old scorinator I used to use for lacrosse tournaments. There are a couple that are mobile phone compatible.

I'm running into a bit of trouble with The Racing Scorinator. Everything seems to be working fine, up to and until the exact moment I attempt to assign trigrams to my drivers/teams/circuits aside from the default AAA/BBB/CCC/etc. When I do that, in Scorination, all of the data displays as #N/A!. I know it's in the trigrams, because just changing one of them to 'NEK' causes the entire thing to crap itself like that. How can I prevent that?

Make sure you have a corresponding entry for the same trigram in the RP Bonus section of the sheet

OK, I've given that a look in, and it seems to be loading some of the entrants and not others.

I've put in the team and drivers like this, added the RP trigrams like this, and the scorinator seems to always discount specifically two of the drivers like this at the point of the race results, always the same two. It seems the entire race's scores aren't added to the table in yellow either, giving the race winner a bonus point for fastest lap because one of the broken drivers received it.

Hi, I'm currently having an issue in discovering how the formatting of days works in Apoxballer as I don't think that weather is currently a factor in the matches (although I could be wrong - but from my personal experience I haven't seen any rain shortened/abandoned matches), and I'm looking to see if there is a way to change that, due to the large impact that the weather plays in Test Cricket, especially with matches in countries such as England (for example).

Does anyone know how it works currently and how one might add in weather effects, possibly in exchange for more overs being able to be played in one day of the First-Class/Test match?

mobile support

Postby Functora » Thu Jul 29, 2021 3:25 pm

Hello, I'm a developer and after sifting through these scorinators I found that they're mostly ill supported on mobile devices (through normal means), this for me is a huge loss because of the freetime that I have on my phone which could be spent on scorinating games and building the story around my nation.

My simple solution would be to develop a web version (with a dynamic design friendly for mobile) of these scorinators, and my hands are fully raised for that. I just need the formula or the general idea or logical explanation behind this system. If its arbitrary, the most common one would be fine.

Also if exporting to XML is a must to store data, it can be done easily since I'm using wasm mainly for web development, with this the data structures are not limited to JSON and we can create downloadable output files in different formats in realtime (.txt, xml, json, excel port)

CURRENT GAMES I'M INTERESTED ON DEVELOPING:
- Tennis
- Baseball
- Volleyball

And for the less popular ones:
- table tennis
- combat sports (fencing, boxing, hema, etc.)
- Precision sports (archery, javelin, darts, quickdraw, etc..)

Thank you,

So, hoping for some feedback here from people a bit more knowledgeable about the inner workings of Xkoranate and its formulas than me.

Myself and a few others have noticed that the golf formula seems to be wildly out of whack. The most recent Olympics have seen gold medallists with scores that are double digits over par, which is very much not what you see in elite RL tournaments. I decided to try and have a play with it to see if I could figure out the issue, and I think I've got somewhere, but could do with more input.

I've been working on some simulations here by using the style mods. The reason behind this is that, to my knowledge, this has been adapted from TBI's Golfinator. In that program, style mods were used to designate which parts of the game a golfer was best at. There was a suspicion from some others that the scores were defaulting to all 0s, therefore suppressing scores for all athletes, which is why we saw barely anyone even making par in the Olympics.

I'm still working on a similar test for 000000, but I have tested 333333 and 666666, and what that shows me is that there does seem to be a link between the score someone posts and the style mods independent of skill. Everyone saw a better score with 6s than with 3s, with a 100-skill athlete averaging 4 under par with all 6s, compared to 1 over par with all 3s. In that sense, this does suggest that increasing the style mod default in the formula would give us more realistic scores.

However, the problem I'm seeing is that the skill mod itself doesn't seem to have any impact on score. The 20 skill athlete averaged 3 under par over 50 iterations at all 6s, with (as mentioned) a 100 skill athlete averaging 4 under par. There also doesn't seem to be that much link when you look across all the skills tested, as only 10-skill-all-6s appears to average much higher than the rest.

I'm not sure of the solution here: as I said, I'm not an expert in the different formulas in Xkoranate. However, I'd definitely be curious to get some input from those who are, as I think this could do with changing before the next Summer Olympics. Ta all.

I've tried playing around a little bit with xkoranate yesterday since I can finally once again have somewhat reliable access to a desktop computer with libraries opening back up after COVID.

I've been able to generate results for an individual matchday, but I'm not 100 percent sure how to generate tables and save results.

I tried accessing the YouTube video, but I keep getting the following: An error occurred. Please try again later.

The table generator can be found by clicking on the little box with three lines.

Image

This, however, is more for pasting results you already have. It's useful if you have a bunch of results but need to regenerate the table (for example, if you scorinate match by match using NSFS and accidentally save the results but not the table, etc)

To generate results for more than one matchday (I'll use an imaginary football competition), under "Choose competition type", select "Round robin" from the drop-down menu. Set the number of legs to "2" so each team plays each other twice, or whatever catches your fancy.

Image

Click on this dropdown menu to change the scorination date. If you want to change it to the end, then just click the bottom date. Once you hit the dice, everything will be generated for you automatically.

Image

If there's anything else I can help you with, feel free to TG me.

EDIT: To save results, just save the file. It'll appear as an xml file; and when you load the file again the scorinated results will still be there.

1. When you open it you should have a page like this:

Image

2. Click on New Event on the left and choose your sport. For now I'll use Association Football, SQIS Formula. Choose the options you want such as home advantage on or off, and whether to use additive or multiplicative modifiers. (Additive formulas should always be used for international tournaments; multiplicative are OK for domestic ones.) Continue.

Image

3. Set the Max skill (this matters more when using NSFS over SQIS) which is usually the max rank + the max RP bonus. For now let's use 50 for ease. Enter Participants with their rank (I've used my puppets with their approx KPB rank) and style modifiers. (You can ignore Teams; this is relevant only for multiple individual athletes from the same nation e.g. Bill, Bob, and Ben, who all represent the same nation in Figure Skating. For team sports, all you need is Participants.) Continue.

Image

4. Under competition type, choose Individual Matches if you want single games e.g. friendlies, knockout rounds. Toggle Allow Draws accordingly. (Usually, friendlies allow draws, knockouts don't.) But instead, let's choose Round Robin. Choose the number of legs: 1 means they play each other once e.g. the group stage of most international football tournaments, 2 means they play each twice, etc. I've chosen 2 legs, so double round robin. Usually for group stages, Allow Draws is kept checked, but toggle accordingly. You don't need to check Results Grid. Choose your tiebreakers: you can change around the order, delete those you don't want, or add new ones. I've decided to remove Goals For, and move the Head to Head tiebreakers higher. If needed, you can also change the points, although 3/1/0 is the standard for soccer. Continue.

Image

5. Set up your groups. You add a group using the big Plus button. You add an individual team to that group using the next button to its right.

Image

Alternatively, you can add all participants using the middle button. The next button removes whichever participant you've selected (or, if you select a group, deletes that entire group); be careful as there's no Undo! Finally, you can randomize the order of teams in a group using the Dice button. Make sure the teams are put in the right order. For now I've put all teams in a single group and used the Dice button. Continue.

Image

6. You now can start scorinating matches. By default Matchday 1 is selected, so click the Dice button and you'll get your results and a table.

Image

You can scroll down through the Matchdays. If you want to scorinate all days in one go, you can go all the way down to Matchday 6 and scorinate that (e.g. if you're scorinating your domestic season, you might do it all in one day). If you do this, and then you rescorinate Matchday 1, you will lose the results for Matchdays 2 - 6 and need to rescorinate them. You can check results from past Matchdays from this menu.

Image

7. Good results! I'd like to keep them. So let's give this competition a name by clicking on the pale bar on the left hand side.

Image

I've called this the Awesome Cup.

8. To save the file, use the Save As button (Floppy disk + Pencil). Give it a name and it will be saved as a .xml file in the default folder such as Documents. To save the file again after you've modified it, use the Save button (Floppy disk).

9. To access a file you've previously used, use the Open button (Folder + sheet of paper). This should bring up the folder where you save your file, and you can begin editing it again.
