Delaney passed a note to Morrison and Ladhe.

Turner's latest nonsense has got to be crushed. He's trying to enshrine racist gerrymandering. Will the Southerners be able to shove it thru?

Senator Nelson F. Morrison (D-OH)

He’d send a note to Delaney

I noticed, that’s exactly why I objected to his amendment. With enough opposition I think they can be foiled.

Joshua Sharp
Senator from Mississippi (Democratic)

Senator Sharp was a little surprised (or had been asleep long enough as his Senate seat to warrant a mild voice waking him up, as was often the case at the ripe age of 70) at the objection raised by that there 'Californian feller'. But, Sharp wouldn't mind some sort of bipartisan approach to such a measure, even if it just got the old man a crab shack along the coast of his native Mississippi.

"Well, well well, it looks like w'all southerners, yankee liberals and caleefornnian is a comin' together fer the greater good o' keepin' the negro down n' the price o' cotton high." Sharp chuckled to himself as he scribbled out a note to pass it to Delany.

Howdy youngster. I ain't your friend on civil rights, it's just that I don't like the other senator from Mississippi, and, in keepin' with my Missississippi tradition of both senators hating each other n' shit like that, looks like we got ourselves a case o' bipartisanship.

How's that ol' sayin' go again? 'The enemy o' my enemy's enemy is not my enemy or somethin' ?

Senator Ladhe sends a note to Senator Fraser.
You still have a chance to place a motion on the floor to expel Turner from the Senate. You have nothing to lose.

"Actually," Benedict says towards Ladhe, "You made two motions, and received a second and an objection with no tell of what they were both for. What I said was regarding your motion to 'untable', never heard of that one before, son."

Senator Ladhe (D-MT) begins wheezing, moving his right wrist to cover his mouth while pressing his left hand against his desk so that he can hold himself steady. After his cough subsides, he answers, "Gillespie, untable means the same thing as bring to the floor but acts as a more concise, descriptive way to word that particular phrase. Now, if you'd like to get back to the business of the Senate rather than question my very obvious wording, I'd be more than obliged to join you."

Ladhe also scratches down a note that is sent to Senators Boone and Morrison:
Should Gillespie and Turner continue to act as thorns in my side, I'll die of frustration rather than cancer. I'd owe both of you one if you'd shut them up for me.
